I went on a Friday evening with a group of 15-20 friends. The first few people (myself included) to arrive decided on a spot by the pool tables with some tables and chairs along the outside. In the first half hour before more guests arrived the waitress was continual hanging around our area. She kept saying that we could move back to the game room area (this was part of her section). Had we been more in the mood to play games i'm sure we would have gone to Frankie's Fun Park, Chuck E Cheese or a Dave and Busters instead. Also whilst she was mingling around in our group between her moments of nagging us to move to the other room she had expressed several complaints about her job and the lack of tips she earns. She was friendly enought o share a story about how her and a coworker went down the street to Liberty Tap Room and the server at Liberty had charged her credit card (which our waitress claims she had left behind) a second time for an additional $5 after they had left. This raised a red flag in my mind and gave me the impression i should check my account (i have several times thankfully nothing yet!). part of being a good waitress is being attentive to your customers. It isn't however doing any of the following: - Constantly asking those people not taking part in the drinking (which they told her they wouldn't be) if they wanted an alcoholic beverage. - Hounding those that were looking over the menu if they were eready to order. I watched this happen to two different groups of people in our party. Out waitress would approach the person to see if they were ready and when they said they weren't she would linger around in our group and then approach again a matter of two minutes later for a 10 - 15 minute period. - you do not approach all the sober people and the head of the group repeatedly to say you didn't put gratuity on the tabs and to please remind the rest of the party to tip her because the other parties that night haven't tipped her much or at all. I didn't take part in the food this evening but have had the flatbreads before. Theyre not bad but not something you would write home about. I do have to say the drinks were some level of awful. The margaritas and vodka cranberries tasted as if they had something quite bitter in them. The only redeeming things about this outing was the shot girl who was very friendly. She roamed over to our area, gave us our shots (which were better than our drinks) and then made her way elsewhere. The live music of the night wasn't bad, it was of the classic rock variety. Some band called Black Beards Truck.

For those who are familiar with Dave and Busters it's similar to that. A good place for beer, appetizers and watching sports. Lots of TV's, tables, pool tables, video games. On certain nights it opens the back for dancing & a DJ. Casual. Mixed crowd.

Went here on a Thursday night for my husbands' corporate Christmas party. They had a section wayyyy in the back reserved for our group (as did a few others). We had plenty of high top tables, couches, our own tv, 2 pool tables and shuffle board table; this place is huge. They had a small buffet area set up with fried shrimp, buffalo fried chicken tenders, spinach and artichoke dip, meatballs and an assortment of cheese and crackers. The food was standard bar food, I would not go back to Jillian's specifically to eat, BUT I did enjoy my options. Everything was good, just super greasy and heavy in your stomach. The service was great; the waiters interchanged and came around frequently refilling drinks (everything was pre-paid). Basically it was an open bar but with waiters bringing the drinks around. Overall we had a great time; we played some pool and shuffle board, snacked and mingled. This seems like a fun place to head for a fun date night, there is a large room in the back with arcade games too. Parking can get competitive when it's busy!

Service was great! Server was attentive well that was until there was something wrong with my entree! Atmosphere is dim like your average bar with a ton of pool tables for customers. In the back they have an arcade as well but didn't play any games since I was just starving! We got our giant pretzel for our appetizer served with a side of Dijon mustard with a hint of horseradish and side of cheese. Now I would be impressed if they got this wrong but it tastes like your average pretzel, nothing too crazy or different. We then ordered the buffalo chicken tenders and fish and chips. When we got our plates we got surprised with chicken nuggets rather than chicken tenders. The fish and chips were also a disappointment! The fish was just soggy!! Every single one of them. The fries too were soggy! Everything was under seasoned and a disappointment with every bite. Informed my waitress about my dish and she informed me that it was supposed to be crispy and just dropped them back in the deep fryer. But even after she did that, it got back to being soggy after sitting for 2 minutes! Not even exaggerating! Not only was I disappointed that they were soggy but they were also over breaded! Overall, I would not recommend this place for anyone to eat unless you're ordering the pretzel. This place should just stick to serving booze and entertainment.

worst salmon i've ever had.. how does one screw up salmon when it can be eaten raw or cooked? well, jillian was able to do it. It was terrible and if i could just rate the food itself i would give it no starts. I promise the salmon was so hard to eat that i couldn't even get my two friends to try it. It was cold and didn't even want to go down my throat because it was so dry. The veggies it came with i'm pretty sure came from frozen bags and just nuked. Shame on this place for serving bad food.. however, i guess their forte is more of entertainment than just food. I wouldn't go back here again nor would i recommend it. sorry, it just wasn't impressive in the least bit.

This is a great place to go eat if everything else is closed. The one star is for the attentiveness of our waiter. The place has potential... Great TVs, a bunch of pool tables , an arcade, a dance floor and an outdoor patio... But the food was god awful. Places like this make me sad... I wish restaurant impossible would take this on as an episode to redo the place because it really is a great space. We all were disappointed with our food and agreed this is a place for late night drinks only.

Good Evening, Just wanted to inform you and anyone else that I can get ahold of from your corporate office about an experience from Sunday, 5/26/15 at around 2:15pm. I brought 5 adults and 3 children in for lunch. We came in because it wasn't crowded and we figured we'd get great service and quick food. Now I realize why it wasn't crowded. We sat down and the staff was kind enough to put on the Cavs basketball game. We ordered drink, apps and immediately the kids meals. Nothing crazy for the kids, chicken fingers and fries and one plate of noodles. Drinks came out in a timely manner, the app of fried food (the 9 baller, I believe it's called) also came out fine too. Then the 5 adults ordered. Then it went down hill. We waited and waited. Ordered another round of drinks and waited and waited for food. The adults weren't concerned about the food, but we were really wanting to get the children's food as they were hungry. We were told by the wait staff that there was only one person in the kitchen. That's unfortunate that we had to have an awful experience because there was only one person in the kitchen. After we continued to wait, food began to come out. But oddly enough, it was the adult food! Where was the kids food that we ordered upon arrival?? Comments about the adult food, "the burgers are like hockey pucks" and "this lemon chicken dish is not even close to what it looks like in the picture." We still waited on the kids and decided to cancel the order as we couldn't get out of there fast enough. So I was stuck with a bill (that had a kids item on it!) and an embarrassing experience. Here's were I have problems: 1. no manager/supervisor table touches 2. fried kids meals that couldn't EVEN get out 3. no service recovery There are some significant opportunities in both food and service. Thank you for your time. Regards, Mark

Asked if I could get a quick bite in 30 min when they were not busy. Sat at the bar and was ignored for 5 minutes so i left.

Don't know about the food, but the beer is cold and the game tables are fun. Miss the ping-pong table. Good place to spend a rainy day.

I've visited this place a couple of times due to the great location and private conference rooms. This is a great place for drinks but the food is absolutely horrible. Even the most simplistic dishes are bad. How do you mess up a Caesar salad? Many people compare this place to dave and busters but it's not even close. Management please work on the food or at least lower the prices.

We went to see a band here, as we have done several times before. Only to be told we weren't allowed in because someone in our party was wearing a baseball cap. And there were only about 20 people in the whole place on a Saturday night. Seriously. Yet the doorman was wearing a hat. It's a sports bar with arcade games. Yet you cannot wear a hat. Completely ridiculous.

Be aware that they will add 18% gratuity onto your tab and not tell you about it. I caught it, and asked the server. After he stumbled through an answer I went to the manager. He offered to fix it. Never apologized or anything. I called them out on stealing from their guests and the best they could do is stare at the floor. However owens this place... your business is only as good as the people that run it for you. You need new people!

We went here with my daughter's gymnastics team after the competition thinking it would be a great place for team bonding since they have the arcade and plenty of room for the kids to have their own circle separate from the adults. That's what I had thought from my experience living in Columbia 10 years ago anyway. Well, the games were good but the service was anything but. The waiter did not bring us all the drinks we ordered, so some of us had to get them ourselves from the bar. He took our orders, delivered some of them but not all. The kids had fun at the arcade but by now they were hungry. We had to ask for the missing orders and I have an impression that the waiter simply forgot to place some of them with the kitchen. We also asked if a soup someone ordered was coming, to which the waiter said that they were out (if we hadn't asked we'd never have known). Someone from our party went to talk to the manager to tell them about the missing food. They asked if they can pay for what they got (drinks) and leave. They didn't want the rest of the food. The manager said that they WOULD deliver the food and he wanted the money for everything we ordered! When asked to speak to someone above him he said he was the highest authority there and that the person complaining had an attitude problem! Eventually, all of the food we ordered was delivered (I think) but it was 2 hours after we came in! Even though my daughter was hungry, she couldn't eat all of her pizza because it tasted disgusting. My cheeseburger was OK though, but I don't think everyone finished their plate. When we were ready to pay, it took us forever to get the checks. The waiter came with them twice and, after looking at them closer, left to correct something. Then apparently he forgot about some of us because I had to go to the bar and ask to pay my bill. The bill he gave me wasn't what I ordered but the amount was close so instead of taking another hour to resolve that, I just paid it and left. We did have a large party but I don't think it's uncommon for a place like Jillian's. Furthermore, there was only one other couple eating there at the time, so I the bad service wasn't because the waiter was overwhelmed. And if he was, why couldn't the manager and bar staff help him out? Several people in our party used to live in Columbia and had much better memories of Jillian's from those days. We were extremely disappointed in our experience and I'm pretty sure this was the last time we would visit Jillian's. It's such a shame though because the place is at a great location and has a great setup. Hopefully, someone will see this review and do something to improve the service.

My boyfriend and I went here to play pool, but decided to sit down and eat beforehand. Once we were sat, we waited almost five minutes for someone to come over. Well, no one did. My boyfriend finally found a waitress in the section and asked if we could get something to drink. The girl seemed confused, but said she was our waitress. We order an appetizer, and it took another five or six minutes for that to come out. She never came back to check on us to see if we wanted anything else or to get refills on drinks. Once the appetizer was gone, she took the plate, never asked if we wanted to order an actual entree, finally got the refill, and walked away to other side of the restaurant where no one in the section could find her. Another five minutes later she brought the bill, disappeared AGAIN, and only finally came back to run our card once we'd contemplated finding a manager to take care of the check for us. The only reason the night was a total bust was after we'd finished dealing with that disaster of a waitress, we went over to play pool (which seems horribly overpriced) and had okay, though not great, service from the waitress assigned to the tables. Would I go back? Maybe, but I'd have to be really desperate for somewhere to go.

While $5 cover seems to be standard fare in the vista, this is one place thats definately not worth it. We may have been the only people in the bar under 40 and not overweight (including the really, really bad cover band). The plus side: there was a game room and live entertainment in the form of a brawl that ended with a bouncer pummeling one of the troublemakers.

Food was awesome and the atmosphere is great. It's a must stop it if u love sports and drinks. And not mention awesome customer service

I am not sure why the ratings on this place is so low, I had a blast here! I recently took a trip to the Carolinas and Columbia was on my Saturday night stop! I told my best friend I needed to eat before we begin the night, so he suggested this location for after 11pm. The down side is the $5.00 parking charge and the $5.00 cover charge per person, but coming from the expensive DC area, my husband and I didn't mind! Once we got in the hostess greeted us and then scooped out the area before seating my group (we had a party of 5). It took a moment for a waitress to come, but we did not wait longer than 5 mins. I didn't mind waiting the 5 mins because the live band that was playing was great and the multiple TVs to watch in the dining area! After our server came she took our orders, and within 5-10 more mins our drinks came back. I ordered the 9 ball combo appetizer and the plate was huge, and I could not eat it all. Great portion for $12.00! This place also has a huge game room (ping pong, pool tables, video games, etc) one place over from the eating and dining area. After you pass the game room you can also enter into the dance area. The dance area has a lot off space, a DJ, a main dance floor, and another bar. I really enjoyed this place--not sure if I came on a really good night, but I will go back when I am back in the area!!

This was my first time here and I enjoyed myself. I played some pool and had a few drinks. Can't wait to try this place out on a football day.

What I liked about Jillian's was the "something for everyone" atmosphere. It's part sport's bar, part restaurant, part arcade, part nightclub. It could seem like a cheesy combination, but they did a good job. I went on a Saturday night and had to pay a $5 cover. As someone that never carries cash I liked that you can pay your cover via debit/credit so that was a huge convenience. They had live music (rock) playing in the front by the bar, but in the back of the venue there was a dj playing radio hits. The music was pretty diverse so again, there was something to please everyone. Posting up at the bar I got to know a few of the bartenders which provided a lot of laughs. They were friendly and kept the conversation going as bartenders typically do. The drinks are affordable averaging between $5 - $10 depending on the liquor you choose. Tip: Don't order a Mojito after 9p - - bartenders complained about having to make these drinks numerous times!! I didn't get a chance to play any of the games, but I loved all the pool tables, TVs, and arcade games. It's hard to get bored in this place. I wish I could give a half star rating because this place was a strong 3.5 out of 5. Although I wouldn't make this my weekly hangout, it's a great option to please the masses when looking for a fun night out. Please note that they do have a regular and reverse happy hour, but it does not apply to drinks - - only food.

Decent food. Good drinks. The atmosphere varies depending on where you are in the establishment, and whether there's a band that night. The front is an assortment of booths, bar, pool tables, and other gaming areas. There are TVs everywhere. The next rooms is an arcade. Then the back room (The Groove Shack) has its own bar and hosts dances. Thursday night is shag night which is over-crowded during the school year, but fun if you bring friends to dance with. Parking situation varies, depending on events, time of day, and time of year. Bring cash or be prepared to walk, just in case.

Such a bad experience, from start to finish... A group of 10-12 of us came in last night for dinner and drinks, but mostly dinner - we were all starving - around 10pm. However - a $5 cover charge for a place that was maybe 1/3 full and we were all going to order entrees and appetizers? Ridiculous. Drinks took forever to come out. My vodka soda was a vodka water, but because it took so long in the first place to get to the table, I ordered a beer for the next round because that's impossible to screw up. The appetizers came out about 5 minutes before the entrees. Well, everyone else's entrees. Everyone else had a plate in front of them, but when the waitress carried over my plate, she suddenly looked down at the Philly Cheesesteak in her hand and did an about face. I ordered a Cuban, so I figured she was going to go trade a wrongly placed dish at the other end of the table. We didn't see or hear from her for close to 25 minutes. Waitress finally comes back and places what appears to be a cold meat sub and chips and salsa in front of me, saying she was sorry, but she forgot to ring in the Cuban and accidentally rang in two Cheesesteaks. I understand that mistakes happen, but what about coming out and letting me know? The sandwich was supposed to come with fries and be pressed. I imagine the cook threw something together at the last minute. Luckily, we don't live in the area, so we have no reason to head back here.

I went there on a Friday night around 7pm after the dinner crowd did not get any attention by a waitress til I flagged her down about 7 minutes later wondering who was going to take our order. I would recommend this place if you are just going to play pool, but don't order food unless you plan on being there for a while.
(1)Katie R.
Good if you need to learn how to shag--they have friendly (and sometimes downright creepy) people who will help you learn and take you for a spin around the dance floor. They don't teach lessons per se, but I learned much more about how to dance to shag music from Jillian's than in my class. Drinks are EXPENSIVE.

Just landed in Columbia for work. STARVING!!! My teammates and I headed out to find some food - i didnt really like the look of the place but i was outvoted & we ended up at Jillians. It is Sunday afternoon, so they are pretty slow...a birthday party & a few other tables - the restaurant is in an old warehouse (maybe a train station) & has pool tables, lots of TVs...sports bar!! The hostess was nice enough and our waiter was pleasant. We ordered and then waited OVER 35 min!!!!!!! Hellooo?? where was our waiter? where was anyone?!? seriously 30 + min for sandwiches, salmon and a medium ribeye...?? UNACCEPTABLE! When i finally found the waiter to complain he had our food - finally. The wait was bad enough but then the food was pretty bad also! Mashed potatoes like glue - no flavor - straight from a box. Philly cheesesteak & french dip sammys were exactly the same except the slice of unmelted cheese on the philly. Fries cold. Salmon flavorless, veggies overlaoded with salt & grease. Steak was decent but was paired with the bad sides (Mashed ta-toes & veggies). Seriously, had the waiter just explained the wait or addressed it or something!! maybe they would get an additional star - i dont think that anyone comes here for the food - looks like a college drinking joint & i shouldve stuck to my first impression and said no. Now im saying HELL NO! not worth the wait for really really bad (&bland) food.

This place seems like a cool place to hang out with friends and drink even though I didn't do either. I just came here for dinner with some friends & I got the short ribs. They were soft, tender, juicy, and very tasty!
(4)Jason H.
This is a great sports bar with plenty of TVs and pool tables, however the food needs some help to match the rest of the place. Located in an old warehouse the decor and feel is what you would expect from a place like this in a college town. The burgers all look great on the menu, but you can only get them cooked medium-well or well-done due to "state law." Umm, no, but that's what they have always said. The food would be so much better if you could get your burger medium. I'm not one for charcoal burgers.
(3)James B.
A great bar to watch football when your stuck in South Carolina for two weeks. It was hard to get used to games starting at 1:00 but all those huge TVs made up for it. The beer selection could have been larger but I made due with a Blue Moon. The food was good, I had the blackened Cajun chicken sandwich and not to expensive. I was here on a Saturday night when the Gamecocks were playing and it was way to full. Service was nonexistent but it wasn't there fault.
