Pizza
Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.
Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.
Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Their seed dish pizza is amazing. I went Hawaiian and didn't regret a single bite, also it's enormous (1 can easily feed five people). Btw they delivered in under 30min on Sunday night! extra brownie points for that!!!

We came here to celebrate my brother's boot camp graduation. My boyfriend and I walked in before everyone else to grab a table in the bar area. We told the hostess that we have a party of 8 and lead us to the bar area. She let us put the tables and chair together. She didn't offer to help. Our waitress was attentive but I feel like she had so many tables. She didn't know much about beers on tap. APPITIZER #1: Garlic Bread with Cheese: Served with marinara on side. APPITIZER #2 Mac-N-Cheese Bites: just as it sounds Mac-n-cheese deep fried. PIZZA #1: Meat Lover Pizza: Pepperoni, sweet Italian sausage, smoked ham & crispy bacon, topped with mozzarella & romano cheese. PIZZA #2: BBQ Chicken Pizza: Chunks of breaded chicken breast over hickory smoked BBQ sauce, topped with mozzarella & romano cheese. I thought the food was great however using thin paper plates throws me off. I mean if you are going to use paper plates cool but make sure they fit the pizza. It's a restaurant not a cart off the street. PROS - outdoor seating - plenty of bar seating - plenty of restaurant seating CONS - we had to make our own table (we had a party of 8) - in the bar area they only used paper plates If by chance I was in the area, again I think I would show up but only if I didn't have anything else to choose from. The prices were okay, food was good & the areas that we walked into looked decent... The bar area has New York memorabilia displayed.

Dano's is my favorite pizza place in Columbia. It's so tasty it actually makes me crave pizza. I usually order pizza by the slice and they have a couple of crust options. You could go with the regular crust or you can opt for my favorite... the Sicilian. It's a bit thicker and the pieces are square. It's like the grown and sexy version of what you used to get on your elementary school lunch tray. You can also specify if you want a corner, edge or middle piece of pizza. I love the middle pieces... cheese and topping deliciousness all the way to the edges. Let's be honest - I'm pretty much ok with just a big pile of melty cheese with some pepperoni tossed on top. There is also a gourmet slice of the day so be sure to check that out. It's usually listed on the board outside the front door or you can just ask your waiter. It's a casual place. Just seat yourself and someone will come around to help you. Outdoor seating is available too.

This pizza is glorious. $3.99 for two slices of pizza and a soda for lunch, $3 pitchers on Monday and Tuesday, and a beautiful better location! Hot pizza, cold beer, great servers, a lot of TVs, fairly priced, and clean! I don't think any pizza lover can go wrong at this place. Trust me!

Still rocking fresh slices of pizza for those of us who are hungry ! The bartenders are a riot and will have you laughing the moment you arrive. They now have a lot of local beers on tap which are really tasty ! That's why this place is one of my favorite places to eat pizza and calzone in Rosewood.

Great place. Atmosphere is pretty cool. Thy, unlike most places will honor specials after the time is up. Thy r very nice to do this. And. For all you oldies but goodies. Lol They have pinball machines. I grew up playing pinball. It's nice to see a few around. The staff are absolutely great to deal with. I sure hope this place makes it in the pizza market. I only tried pizza and philly steak sandwich. Both were excellent.
(4)Taylor S.
The pizza here is pretty good, but definitely not the best in Columbia. Their cheese sticks were really good though, and the size of the pizza is big.
(3)Jeffrey C.
One of the best pizza places around. 2 slices and a drink lunch special. Sports always on at the bar. And friendly staff and quick service make this a favorite locals hangout.

Made the mistake of taking a hungry pack of kids to this place on Halloween. It wasn't busy really, but it took almost an hour for the food to come out. The food was pretty good... actually, I cannot honestly say it was really good... probably in the same way that a hungry pack of wolves couldn't describe the minute flavor of a fresh kill. We arrived hungry, after 45 minutes of waiting to get in our order and another hour on top of that to actually get food, you are beyond giving a crap about flavor and just want to put food in your stomach.

Very nice establishment, pizza is really good as is the cannoli!! I really enjoy the atmosphere and it looks very clean! Just make sure if you sit outside that you don't mind waiting on a server.

The South has good bbq, but finding good pizza here is impossible. Dano's had a decent rating so gave it a shot this weekend. Place is clean, the house salad was good. Service was slow and the pizza mediocre. We ordered a small deluxe, which was plenty for the two of us. It was okay, but my biggest issue was the mushrooms come from a can! No thanks! Canned mushrooms ruined the entire pizza with the tinny taste and rubberized texture.

Stopped in for a late lunch. A coworker recommended it. The gourmet special slice of pizza I tried had spinach, tomatoes and feta on it. It was good and a big slice. I'll have to come back when I have a taste for pizza to try their lunch deal.

Best Pizza in Columbia in my opinion. Love the new location. Great pizza and beer list. Love bumper pool, haven't played it since I was a kid. Good greek salad. Haven't eaten anything other than the pizza and the salad, but I'm sure everything is good. Great service too. If you have a bartender named John Oakley tip him well as he's a great dude!
(5)Anthony A.
This is the best pizza restaurant in Columbia. The pizza is authentic new york style pizza. Its not extremely greasy or doughy, its the perfect pizza. Their pizzas are quite big too and they are fast. Im hooked.
(5)John C.
Best pizza in town with many large TVs for sports. Check it out, you will not be disappointed.
(5)Dale C.
Great pizza and a great atmosphere. Bumper pool and pin ball and video games to entertain children both young and old. Lots of games on TV for all sports!
(5)Andrew W.
I love this place! The New York style pizza is great and it actually has good salad and apps which is rare at a lot of pizza joints. It reminds me of my favorite pizza place at College of Charleston, Sabatino's, which is what initially drew me in but there's so much more to love (especially since getting the new location). Nice staff, good service, and some great drink specials are also some reasons to hit Rosewood Drive to visit this gem. Along with Rockaways and Pizza Man this is one of the best places to go around Rosewood in Cola.

Full disclosure: I am not from NY or Chicago, I have been to both of those fine cities and sampled their pizza variations. I am from "around the corner" near this place. Now then. How can anyone think this of all places is the best in Columbia? The Mellow? The Idiot? Nickitos? It reminds me of Dominos more than anything NY. Not the best, I'm saying. Sea of cheese on soggy tough crust. Tasteless and skimpy toppings. 2-star pizza. Calzones: cut one in half and get a puddle, a pond really, of cheese. Vegetables taste canned. Portions, generous. 2-stars Salads: these are pretty good and ample portions. Again, not the best. You can judge a pizza place by their salads (why does this work???) and things are best if you stick with the House Salad. Sandwiches and subs look good, but never had one. Don't see the point in buying Not Pizza at a pizza place.
(2)Ebee J.
Danos is delicious and always has great service. The pizza is the only truly New York style pizza I've been able to find in Columbia!Otherwise I love danos!
(4)Chris L.
Dano's is one of the best pizzas I have had in the south. I love good NY style pizza and Dano's meets the challenge. They also make a great calzone!
(5)Tom S.
Pizza was good! The dough tasted fresh and had great texture. Not a whole lot of variety when it comes to toppings but what they had was good. We went during a US World Cup game. We were seated promptly and rarely waited long for anything. Lots of big TVs, making it a good place to watch sporting events. Downside- floaters in one of our beers. Kind of gross but forgivable in my opinion if it doesn't happen every time. Waitress was a little overbearing at times. She was nice but was constantly at our table. Weird thing to complain about, but it was kind of annoying. Also a little pricey 55 for a lg pizza, salad, and 4 craft beers.
(3)Ken H.
Oh Dano's , you are the apple of my eye.. You can do no wrong... I'm giving this place 5 stars solely based upon the exceptional flavor of the pizza, albeit the amount of toppings are not as consistent as I'd like. Which, I guess is to be expected if a different person is making the pizza day in and day out. I don't know what it is ...the flavor of the sauce, the crispy light dough or just the way it all comes together, but it's the flavor that locks it in for me!
(5)Brian H.
The pizza is ok, but nothing to write home about. It is better than a chain delivery joint like Dominos, but for a place with pizza in the name it falls a little short. The garlic cheese bread was tasty, but youbarely get any bread with your garlic and cheese. The best thing I ate was actually the meatball sliders appetizer. They were delicious and my hands stayed pretty clean wrapped around a much more substantial piece of bread. There were two more good qualities about Dano's. The first was the beer selection. Not an especially long list, but there were several local options on it for a tourist like myself to sample. The second is the atmosphere. Before the game it is a place you can have a conversation at a normal level in. As soon as the South Carolina football game came on I felt like I was eating pizza in a stadium annex. I like a business that fosters such support for the local gang.
(3)Tyler P.
Amazing New York pizza! Dano's is simply the BEST pizza in Columbia.
(5)Jackie T.
Great Genuine New York Style Pizza. Won't find good pizza like this around many other places. (Get a pizza if you go) A fun and laid back atmosphere. Great place to grab a quick bite and to watch a sports game.
(4)Grace M.
Coming from the north and frequenting the city a lot, I must say... This is NOT NY style pizza. Maybe in "size", but definitely not quality. It reminds me of Dominos, which is not a good thing. The staff is extremely incompetent and would rather hang out with their friends and text than pay attention to paying customers. The beer is decent to say the least.
(1)Ashley K.
I love Dano's! I'm from Chicago and have a hard time finding pizza I really like in the area. Even though it is not Chicago style... It has to be one of the best pizzas Ive had. Yum!
(5)Rob C.
First time there tonight, wait staff was Un - accommodating, coke was flat, sweet tea tasted watery and bitter....I ordered mozzarella sticks and a calzone. ..pretty sure the mozzarella sticks are the same I get from Walmarts frozen food section and the calzone was 93 percent cheese and the rest was store bought bagged pepperoni and dead vegetables....the "chef" even looped my dead onion through an olive, a pepperoni and a self made hole in the calzone....it was like they had time to play with the food but not prepare something decent....I'd expect this kind of atmosphere and service from a pizzeria run by 6th graders....do yourself a favor and order marcos pizza instead of this over priced garbage....Danos sucks....
(1)Pattie P.
I am from Chicago so coming to Columbia it was very hard for me to find any pizza that is even close to Chicago pizza. Dano's is the best that I can find. Their thin crust is exceptionally good and they even cut it into squares for me. The only complaint that I had was that they do not have green olives. I love those on my pizza. Service was great and friendly.
(4)Adam O.
Great food, great staff, great owner! I have been going there for a few months now and refuse to go anywhere else. The bartenders take the time to learn your name, your drink, who you pull for in sports, and what you eat. I refer everyone looking for a great place to unwind with great food!
(5)Paul A.
Best pizza in columbia in my opinion. Atmosphere is great, they always have some games playing. The downside of this place is the waitstaff. They are there to get your orders, then they are gone. I will say it's probably because this place is so busy they really don't have time to stay and chat with every single table they are serving.
(4)Dawn S.
Pretty well done... I had delivered the stromboli, veal parm with spaghetti, and a small anti pasta salad. The entire meal was well cooked, full of flavor and the small salad was a generous portion. The veal parm was an incredibly large portion and ooh soo cheesy. My only complaint is that they used sausage balls instead of the true shaved Italian sausage for the stromboli. Other than that... kudos.

Thank Goodness I have finally found a decent pizza place here! If you enjoy New York Style pizza, try Danos! The parking can be tough because it shares a lot with the grocery store, but it is worth it! They are fast and very pleasant. They have a very extensive menu that sounds great, the salads look fantastic! I'd love to come watch a game and have a beer!
(5)Carl S.
This is my go to pizza spot in Columbia outside of mellow mushroom. I wouldn't say it's New York pizza but it comes close. A little pricey, but worth the wait.

My husband and I have been Patrons of Dano's Pizza for almost 10 years. We were looking for what we considered "Authentic New York Style" pizza and a friend, living in the Northeast sector of Columbia, recommended Dano's. We started enjoying their Pizza when they were less than a Year Old and the restaurant was half the size of the old location (before expansion; pre-New Free-standing location). We have tried several other local Pizza locations through the years and every time we end the dinner conversation with: It was Ok, but it's not Dano's-so now, we just assume anytime we are wanting to smooth a Pizza Craving Fix, we just drive the 20 mins. One way because it is always Consitently great. Rich cheeses, perfect sauce mixture that is not too spicy/not too sweet-just great Italian flavor and the Crust has the right consistency (not too chewy, thin bottom with a crisp edge). Give it a try, you will definitely Return!

Very good. I was skeptic at first. Then they presented me with a delicious calzone. Go here for pizza for goodness.

Well, finally a great pizza place in Columbia. We've been here ten years and have been looking for good pizza in the area. Marcos was the best we'd found so far (except the Hardscrabble site can never get an internet order correct!). Pizza Joint in Aiken was the best I'd found (the one here in Cola doesn't compare to Aiken's for some reason). An acquaintance of my wife's recommended Dano's so we went for the first time last night and were truly delighted. Dano's is more of a bar atmosphere and like most of the other reviews geared toward the sports crowd/college scene, so don't expect fine decor and music. We were seated right by the arcade games and children were being quite loud most of the time. We ordered a large Pizza with pepperoni, onions and mushroooms with meatballs on one half. The waitress was very good and new the menu very well. Unfortunately we got the pizza with sausage rather than the meatballs (the friend recommended the meatballs) but we'll try that next time. The pizza was great. Great cheese, sauce and the crust was done perfectly (New York Style). It had excellent taste. We ordered the house salad .My wife had the feta vinaigarette dressing and really liked it. I had the house salad with blue cheese dressing. The blue cheese dressing wan't homemade but served in one of those little containers with the pull off top. The salads were very good with provolone cheese, tomatoes, crisp lettuce and onions. Good size. We had a glass of Merlot for only $3.00. They don't have a large selection of wines (only Merlot and two white) but they do have a good selection of beer. We decided to order a take-home stromboli for the weekend and the waitress recommended the Dano's special "Philly Cheesesteak" stromboli. We ordered it with Provolone cheese (the waitress, being from Philly, generally orders it with the "whiz" (Cheese Whiz) cheese.) It's a large stromboli for $9.99 which we split for lunch today and it was very good. The Aiken Pizza Joint stromboli with spicy sausage is the best stromboli I've had, but Dano's was good. I would order the Philly again or possibly try one of their sausage types to see how it compares. We noticed some customers had large plate of pastas with cheese on top and it looked delicious. The waitress said those dishes were probably the Chicken Parm dish. This was a great find and we plan on going back quite frequently. We took home a carry out menu so we can order and bring home a pizza once a week. Highly recommend this place.

Let me start by saying that Dano's was my go-to pizza place for years here in Columbia - both dine in and especially delivery. They have never really had calzones or strombolis worth writing home about or in fact anything on the menu that was outstanding, except the pizza, which was one of the best I could find in the area. Most places in Columbia believe the only spice on pizza should be salt, and Dano's did a much better job. They also seemed to use a higher grade of cheese with a better taste and texture. Both dine-in and the delivery folks were all very nice. About 6-8 months ago it seems something happened - almost like a change in ownership. The quality has gone downhill. The spices seem gone - back to the standard Columbia Bland flavor everyone has. Cheese now tastes almost as good as Pizza Hut (aka, bad). I have not been in the place since this changed but have had 4 deliveries about 6 weeks apart...hoping that the old Dano's came back. Again, this was a place I either ate at or had delivery from about once every 2-3 weeks for years so this is not based on a couple of experiences. I was also impressed that they never messed up a delivery order - which, let's face it, is fairly common everywhere. Everyone that delivers to my condo jumps on the elevator and comes up to the units - including Dano's up until this change. Now they expect you to come downstairs. While that doesn't sound like a big deal, if I am going to get out of my sweats, get dressed and go downstairs than I am just going to jump in my car and go someplace. This was on all 4 of the last deliveries. Oh, and 3 of those 4 deliveries either forgot something (like my drinks) or had the wrong toppings on the pizza. I have had to add Dano's to my NOPE list, sadly.

I'm not sure if our pizza was just served on an off night or what because it was literally the worst pizza I've ever eaten. It was the sicilian and EXTREMELY undercooked. Really bad. The crust also had no flavor, the sauce was bland and there was way too much of it. All the cheese slid off. Perhaps we should try the thin NY style slices--but we're afraid to! That being said, their cannoli is YUM. So good. We liked the Calzone also and the chicken parmesan was pretty good (huge portion, could've shared it!). I may go back for desert, but I'm not sure I can ever try pizza there again. Although I see the reviews and wonder if I should give the thin crust a shot... Agreed too that the waitstaff doesn't seem excited to be there. And the place seems consistently understaffed--really slow service and things are often coming out wrong, seeming disorganized. I want to like this place, I really do...but...we'll see.
