Food Suggestions to Maintain Cholesterol Level at Applebee's
Actually pretty decent. Late time I had Applebee's was 4 years ago and only because it was close to the hotel I was staying at. It was gross. This time has changed my mind. We received friendly service and tasty food. Very pleased. Glad it is conveniently located for us.

When we walked in, what should greet our eyes in the "host" area on the divider:. A tatty basket holding.. menus, (I think.) An orphan set of napkin wrapped flatware. A crumpled up rag. (for wiping tables?) A roll of packing tape. Trash on the floor. It looked like a corner in the janitor's closet. There was a large party ahead of us and the staff seemed bewildered about how to go about placing tables together to accommodate them. The pyramids were probably planned and constructed in less time. I was ready to bolt, but finally a person acknowledged us, and after further confusion about where we might be seated in the more-than-half-empty restaurant ( ! ) we were led to a table. By now, I was alarmed (if the host area, which is the first thing you see, is that bad, what does the kitchen look like?) I ordered the small steak... because a hot grill will hopefully kill the germs. My husband had salmon; brave soul. Service was SLOW. There was an abundance of staff but they seemed to be aimlessly wandering around, surprised to see customers at the tables. Or oblivious. Our waitress vanished. The food was brought a full 5 minutes after the waitress chirped that our meals were "ready, and sitting in the window..." The food was ok; I had one of the under 600 calories steaks. It was good, if lukewarm. My husband said his salmon was *meh*. I don't like to blame waitstaff. They're only as good as management expects them to be. And clearly, management has very low expectations from this group. The service is sloppy and slow. Too many staff are meandering and doing nothing. The entry...that is just WRONG. If you're in a hurry, and want HOT food, do yourself a favor and just go to Wendy's.

The food was ok it was lunch rush so I can accept the delay in refills, but when my girl came back horrified about the cleanliness of the bathrooms I was done. I asked to speak with the manager and was just going to say "Hey I know it's lunch rush but blood in the woman's bathroom on the floor and on toilets might need your attention. " I waited and waited on a Manager that never came. I paid my bill plus the 15% and bounced. Customer service is more than just getting the orders right and out quickly.

I've been here several times for the under 550 calorie lunch. Until yesterday I really liked this place. Our experience at lunch changed my opinion entirely. My wife ordered the Parmesan Chicken, I got the Garlic Steak. The vegetables that came with both meals tasted like soap. Within an hour of finishing the meal my wife got violently ill. She called the restaurant and talked with the manager. He insisted that it couldn't be their soapy food that made her ill, food poisoning takes 72 hours to show itself. He obviously had no intention of investigating the report and fixing the problem! We'll never go back to this location.

About Applebee's
Applebee is an American full-service restaurant brand popularly known for its signature Riblets. Applebee was conceptualized in 1980 by Bill and TJ Palmer in Atlanta, Georgia. At first, the restaurant was named T.J. Applebee's RX for Edibles and Elixirs. After the concept was acquired by W.R. Grace and Company, the restaurant was renamed as Applebee's Neighborhood Grill & Bar. Later the company and the Applebee's concept changed hands with Abe Gustin and John Hamra who started the first Applebee's franchise restaurant in Kansas City.
Later in 2007, IHOP Corp. now known as DineEquity, Inc. acquired Applebee's and began their journey together to make Applebee's the world's largest full-service restaurant chain.
