High Cholesterol at Whataburger

Calorie intake is the main concern for people with high cholesterol while dining at a fast-food restaurant like Whataburger. Well, you can always try the Lighter & Smaller options from the menu to cut down your fat intake. Opting for grilled sandwich or burgers are preferred compared to double meat or triple meat cheesy burgers which contain high cholesterol.

Foods to Avoid at Whataburger for High Cholesterol

Cut down on your meat intake to control your high cholesterol. You must skip Double Meat Whataburger and Triple Meat Whataburger at all costs. My friend and I went here for a quick bite a few days ago. We were visiting Waterfront park, and it was really convenient because it's only two blocks away (did not have to move the car), and we had a coupon. Both of us thought the food was pretty good. She had a gyro and fries, and I had the shrimp pita with fries. The fries are shoestring and thin, very good. You can tell they aren't frozen bagged fries, and you get plenty of them with your meal. Our sandwiches weren't overly huge, but they were the right size. The portions were great for two females who didn't want leftovers. So, if you're a really hungry guy, you definitely want to get some extras or an appetizer- or do the tapas thing and share food around the table. Service was okay. We had to wait on the server to come take our order and I actually had to motion for her to come over. All the dining areas are either on the patio or underneath a covered area, so if it's chilly, keep that in mind. No completely indoor dining. The bathroom was freezing and a little seedy. All in all, Tabbuli's not a bad place. I'd dine there again, but there are so many good options in Downtown Charleston, it's hard to make return visits unless somewhere's just exceptional. Really good for a quick, cheap, bite, though.

Love to come here in the evenings with a group of friends & just catch up. The food is pretty good & they had good flavors of hookah. The only problem I had with them is one time it took them forever to bring me a bowl of soup I ordered. I guess it was mainly because it was during the weekend & they are usually pretty busy during that time. But overall I've had good experiences with them.

We had lunch here on a Monday afternoon. The food is pretty good. We both had the gyro. Be aware that this is an outside seating only establishment which is why we only have it door stars. I really enjoyed the hint of pepper on the fries. The portions are pretty generous.

Best brunch place! Mostly because they know how to serve bottomless mimosas! Our server was awesome I just wish they had more choices for brunch!:(

Cute place and good location BUT was extremely disappointed with the food. The lentil soup had the consistency of baby food and tasted awfully bland. IF the food had any kind of flavor and the serving was of sufficient portions, then the overpricing would be okay. Both the lamb and beef pita a.k.a. gyro did not have any seasoning to it. The "pita" came with hummus and Jerusalem salad. The little hummus that they smeared in the gyro was minimal didn't help the taste with the maybe 6-7 pieces of meat the size of caramels. The Jerusalem salad seemed to be tabouli which was mostly chopped up parsley. My plate had maybe 2 tablespoon full on a piece of lettuce and a wedge of lemon. The potatoes looked great and I was hoping I could eat something tasty but to my dismay, they were just as bad...seasoning was forgotten. The waitress was cute and was pleasant and I think could tell we were not happy. Even though it wasn't her fault the food tasted bad, she did apologize for us having to send the soup back. She graciously asked us to return to the restaurant. We ate our food because we were hungry and had been driving in circles looking for parking and didn't want to send more food back and wait to eat somewhere else. We did complete the comment card with our dislikes of the food. We hope that they read this as well and take this as constructive criticism. We are visiting from out of state and love Greek, Mediterranean, Israeli, North African, etc... Kind of food so we know what the food should taste like and are open minded that not all food are alike BUT expect the food to taste good.

Visited this place during Restaurant week. Stopped in for a meal and a few drinks. Very different menu than you'll find anywhere else in Charleston. I had the Lamb Shank, which reminded me of the food I had while touring Greece. Very bright and exciting flavors. Good experience. Live music on Thursday night. Will be returning!

Stayed in Charleston overnight at the Harbourview Inn. Great hotel but dissapointed that they were clueless when I asked for recommendations of vegan-friendly restaurants. Found Tabbuli on our own and it was only a few blocks away. The staff at Tabbuli were fantastic!! The food was fabulous!!! Had the Mediterranean Dip with no cheese. Can't wait to go back to Charleston to try other dishes at Tabbuli. Was so good that we stopped back the next day for take-out to eat on the way to the airport. LOVE IT!! ALL THUMBS UP!!!

Tasty Food; Adequate Service; Interesting Ambiance; Reasonable Value Stumbled upon this place whilst visiting Charleston. Buddy and I shared a combo appetizer and had a couple of beers. The appetizer consisted of baba ghanoush, hummus, and falafel. All of which were tasty, but came with only eight pita points. Charged two dollars for extras. I'd go back for sure.

Low quality food, at least the portions are small... Very slow service. 10 of us waited for 40 minutes to get our food, some portions had to be returned after not being prepared correctly. Will make sure to skip this restaurant next time we come to Charleston

Wether visiting or local this is THE place to be. This vibe packed Mediterranean grill hookah bar combo is everything you need to take your Saturday night to the next level! Amazing customer service and crazy friendly staff. Not to mention great music and live Dj's!! My only complaint is that this app won't let me put more stars!!!

restaurants in my opinion should be graded on service, quality of food, and ambiance. This one failed all three, and failed them badly. I had heard a great deal about the quality of Charleston food, and there are many outstanding restaurants to choose from for certain, but Tabbuli downtown isn't one of them. The hostess was rude and made us wait for her to finish texting before seating us. Once she was done texting, she led us to a filthy table covered in old food and spilled drinks. We politely asked her if she could have someone clean it, and she said she'd try to find someone. Once the table was clean and we ordered, the food was fair to middling at best. Came cold (was supposed to be warm) and the portions were small enough to be funny if we weren't so hungry. Our drink glass stayed empty most of the meal, and when we finally got the check it was for the wrong table. Took another 15 minutes to get that fixed. bad service bad food over-priced poor ambiance in a city filled with better options, best to avoid this dud.

Food was good and fast but the service was mediocre. I was seated at dusty dirty table and I understand it was outside on the patio but it wasn't cleaned for me. I asked about any specials and she was like "kind of, we have these brunch items" and then when I asked her the difference between the 2 Benedict offerings she did not actually describe them well but I ordered one and it was tasty.

Ate here last year and enjoyed it very much, but today, (Tuesday lunch), they didn't have any lamb for gyros, which is the most common dish. A party of 5 ordered a hummus platter and got 8 small slices of pita, then we ordered more, took 15 min, and still wasn't enough. Then we were charged for the extra pita to top it off. Whatever changes were made recently were disappointing. We won't be back after this time.

FYI fellow Yelpers...Market St Tabbuli does not accept Yelp coupons/10 percent discounts unless it is printed. Lol...though it says just show it to the server.

My friends and I stopped in Tabouli Grill for a quick bite to eat. It was early, only about 3 tables seated in the whole restaurant. We were seated and drink orders were processed right away. We each ordered a hummus trio plate. How long could that take to prepare?! Well, about 50+ minutes! Are you kidding me? Our waiter was nowhere to be found during this long waiting period. We finally flagged him down and were told we were next up. Twenty minutes later our food finally came. We were entertained however by a waitress who was apparently angry about having to move furniture around in the outside garden area. She was tossing and slamming chairs at tables. If you just want drinks and hookah this is your place. If you want to eat here, do not come hungry, because you will be hangry by the time it finally arrives!

Stopped in on saturday with my cousins to have some drinks. The outdoor patio is shaded and pleasant, even on a very hot July afternoon. The strawberry and blackberry mojitos were delicious, although a little overpriced for a cocktail (rightfully) made with bacardi. However, they were so delicious, I'd go back and get them again :)

I asked my friend to take me to an awesome brunch while visiting Charleston, since it's my favorite hobby. He was pretty hell-bent on this place, even though I was skeptical a Mediterranean place would be a good choice for brunch. The location is super random. There is outside seating but it's tented so it's still warm in the winter. We were seated outside. First of all, they were PACKED and there was a large, really rowdy/annoying group of college (I assume?) students seated at a table next to us smoking hookah. I don't mind going to brunch places that feel busy (it usually adds to the experience if it's buzzing) but these people were screaming. Our server approached us (I'm about 99% sure she was the hostess because she was wearing all black clubbing outfit and not the server attire). She took our drink orders (two of us got the $12 bottomless mimosas and one got the ultimate bloody mary ....also $12 dollars). When she brought out our drinks, I noticed our champagne flutes were different sizes (mine was much smaller). My friend's bloody mary did look very appetizing. It was large with a bunch of vegetable stuff (olive, cucumber, bacon, etc) on a skewer. We all ordered the same thing: chicken pita with fries. Our friend told us that the menu had gotten a lot smaller and they had removed the things he really liked on it. The food was pretty good...but nothing I would write home about (only to Yelp). The pita was stuffed with chicken and veggies and the pita itself was soft and warm. Fries were shoestring. The bigger offense here is that our server was SO SLOW on the mimosa refills. If I am paying for bottomless mimosas, there is nothing more frustrating than sitting there with an empty glass knowing there is a cut-off point on them. She took about 20 mins to refill our glasses the first time. Then she told us that they ran out of champagne and needed to bring some up from the basement or something (sketchy). The mimosas we received after that tasted like straight up orange juice. I doubt there was any champagne in them, or they were trying to really stretch it across many tables, which really grinds my gears. Also, my friend saw them using the soda pump in one of the pitchers (to give it bubbles). Here is the WORST part (I know, it gets worse): we had ordered an appetizer of pita and dip. She came out after we ate our entrees and told us that it somehow got lost, and that they could still bring it out. We told her to just forget it since we already ate. Then she said it, "ok, but it will still be on the bill." We asked her if she could cancel it and she acted like we were requesting her to do the most unspeakable, difficult task known to man (clearly she just didn't want to tell her manager she had messed up). She did end up taking it off the bill, but I couldn't believe she made us feel so guilty for asking. DISCLAIMER: to be fair, they did have a big oyster roast going on out back and it was Charleston Restaurant Week, so I'm sure they had larger crowds than planned.

I never had this kind of bad service in my life. The guy who waited our table was a jerk. Didn't serve our food for 40 mins. When we got the food he just threw the food on the table and knocked over a glass of water. Didn't even bother to clean it up. Worst service. After serving the food didn't even bother to show up until we asked for a check. I would never ever recommend this to anybody.

I don't think I'll every be coming here again. The quality of service, food, cleanliness, and even atmosphere has gone down tremendously since they first opened. We arrived just before 6:00pm and were seated right away but even after we specified we had no interest in smoking we were sat next to a large group smoking the hookah. Deciding it wouldn't be that big of inconvenience, we made no issue of it and sat down. It took nearly 10 minutes for our server to even come greet us and take our drink order. Concerned that it would be just as long to be checked on again we went ahead and put in an appetizer order for the Babagonoush. When the server came back to deliver our drinks we placed our order. About 10 minutes later the server returned to confirm what we had even ordered. He repeated our order back to us and had gotten my husbands order wrong! Note to servers: this is why you use a note pad. Having to confirm orders when you've already left the table does not sit well with any costumer. It took nearly a half hour to receive our appetizer and what a huge disappointment that was. We basically received a plate of cold pita bread with a small dollop of dip. Not worth the thirty minute wait or the money. One taste and that was the last straw. We decided to leave. I simple waved over another associate or possibly a manager I'm not even sure, and briefly explained that we were unsatisfied and were leaving. Thank goodness for other restaurant options up the street. We had a much better experience elsewhere.

Quick late lunch with a friend before taking her to the airport, we started with the falafel and tabouli dip. The hummus was AMAZING. The falafel was ok. We also got as our entree the chicken kabobs. They were only so so. The flavor left a bit to be desired.. The ambience is cool, and we only had water (which had a weird taste) but the cocktails looked and sounded fun and yummy. I would come back to try hookah and a cocktail, but would eat before I came...

A couple friends and I decided to have apps and drinks because we've never been to Tabbuli Grill before. Everyone was really nice and friendly, but service was slower than molasses. We sat outside and my friend was able to have her dog join us! We ordered their "famous" bloody mary and it was ok..I've definitely had better. I wouldn't order it again. The dressing on the bloody mary were over the top. We ordered the hummus trio and that was pretty good! However, they gave maybe 16 pita triangles and when we had to order more-two times they charged us 4 dollars each time for 8 more pita triangles. Ridiculous. We also got a hookah which was fun, but I don't know how sanitary those things actually are. If I were to go back, I would have a regular drink, as they're specialty cocktails are completely overpriced! I'll make sure to bring my own pitas as well.

Let me start from the beginning, me and my fiancé run a hookah bar in Knoxville so we always like to visit hookah bars wherever we travel... The pictures are deceiving! I was excited to go here and relax with some drinks and nargila but our experience was quite the opposite! We where greeted by the "host" she immediately wanted us to order even though I told her we had never been there before.... I asked if they had double Apple tobacco because that's our favorite and she said they only had the crazy favors on the menus... There was 3 favors all with alcohol base and that is not what we where wanting. So we order food.... Hummas was from a can and the kabobs where cooked over a stove not a grill. My fiancé is Iraqi so when we eat Arabic food we know what it's supposed to taste like. This was awful! They didn't even ask if anything was wrong even though we left all the food on our plates. Then we move to the bar to have nargila.... It was so bad I almost threw up! They use the same nargilas for every flavor which is a BIG no no! We sat there because we didn't want to be rude due to meeting Kareem, one of the servers. (If you do go ask for him, he helps make the horrible place tolerable!) He was very friendly and held a very pleasant conversation with us however the "hostess" that was there was smoking behind the bar, on her phone the whole time with foul language, and twerking to the Nasty rap music they played. For this place to be owned my Jordanians I expected it to be WAY better than it was. We will never be back and I encourage you not to go, your better off just smoking at home!

I ended up at Tabbuli for the hookah since the hookah pickins are pretty slim here in Charleston. My friend and I ordered a specialty hookah and some food. I got the hummus appetizer (for $6) with lamb (for an additional $3), and when my plate hit the table, disappointed does not even describe what I was feeling. It was literally 2 tbs of hummus smeared on the plate with a half ounce of what appeared to be (and tasted like!) lamb jerky. The hummus was gone with two pieces of pita and the lamb was hardly worth eating. I could not even have begun to get full on this $9 plate of food. The hookah was great, but our server spent most of the time hanging out with her coworkers at the bar and looking around aimlessly- sometimes she looked at us from across the bar trying to figure out if we needed anything instead of coming and checking on us. We had to flag her down to get fresh coals after 45 minutes. It made me really sad when the bill came and I realized that "specialty" hookah was $25, when I feel like the hookah wasn't even enjoyed to its fullest with the lack of coals. After we split the check and added a tip, I payed $30 and would have felt just as good if that money had fallen out of my pocket while I was walking down the street. Needless to say, I will not be going back. Everything is over priced and the service is poor.

AMAZING! AMAZING! AMAZING! The ambiance was very nice and ZEN like and I loved the beautiful patio! We had tapas- falafel & humus then we got some lamb kabobs which were out of this world! With grilled peppers, onions & tomato served over rice...perfect! Try their Bloody Mary made with bacon vodka!!! I enjoyed myself at Tabbuli and even came back the next day for lunch!

Hummus was the best I've ever had. Tally, Heather, and Morgan were amazing, and the Australian bartender made our night. Didn't know a hookah bar could be so warm and inviting. Definitely coming back for brunch next weekend, the dishes sound delicious.

The toilets are disgusting, the bar is sticky, and the place needs a good cleaning from top to bottom. The overhead heaters are either on high or off, nothing in between, and if it's raining, the water leaks in from the tents and yes, you can get splattered! So why do we go back, because it's fun...the service at the bar is good, the food is reasonably priced and pretty good, the drinks are fun and not too pricey. The belly dancer is really bad, and needs some lessons, but that just adds to the eclectic charm of the place; the fire dancers are entertaining and comical. It's a bit like a train wreck and we can't stop watching. Give it a try! It's entertaining.

This place gets 10 thumbs for DISCRIMINATION!!!! I am from California and I came to visit this club on Saturday night 6/13. When I was told by this No sense of Fashion or character imbecile name Tyler, that I was unable to attend the restaurant because I had on a jersey. NO. 1 : THE SHIRT I was wearing was made out of cotton and spandex, it was a button up blouse, with the word FLAWLESS across the left boob with the number 100 underneath. NO. 2: There wasnt any team represented on my SHIRT nor any numbers or writting on the back of my SHIRT, which therefore does not constitute as a jersey!!!!. As I pointed this out to the IMBECILE TYLER, and informwd him that he was allowing other women in with baseball caps, tshirt and sneakers, and I had on a pair of 1200$ CHRISTIAN LOUBOUTINS he proceeded to say "what is that? all I know is that girl had on a fresh pair of Js"... I was sooooo shock n disappointed because that was the most ignorant statement that I have ever heard clearly he doesnt know the difference when it comes to fashion, and that is the why he should be fired from that position or be a security guard. All muscles/fat no brainzzzz!! TYLER U ARE THE WORST AND I WILL NEVER VISIT THIS PLACE EVERRR AGAIN AND WILL BE SURE TO TELL ALL MY FRIENDS IN CHARLESTON AND LA TO NEVER VISIT THERE AS WELL!!!!! ALL BECAUSE U DIDNT KNOW THE DIFFERENCE BTWN A JERSEY & A SHIRT AND JORDANS AND CHRISTIAN LOUBOUTINS!!!!!!

Love the atmosphere on the patio. Our food took forever, so at least we had something pretty to look at. I got the Paratha soft tacos, which were delicious, but super olive oil-y... maybe that's how paratha is made? I'm not sure, but make sure you get extra napkins. The fries are really, really good. You can tell that they cut them in house instead of using the frozen variety. I can't wait to come back one night for Hookah on the patio. It'll be awesome.

First of all katlynn the server is awesome! Ask for her. I had the veggie pizza $11.00 and the hookah session is $20.00. It last 45 minutes. The atmosphere is hip and trendy. Perfect for a Saturday brunch, lunch, and dinner. My new spot

Overall the food is way over priced and for the quality it was. Drinks are good but seemed over priced a lil. And here is why. Every time I've gone it's gotten worse and worse. ( This is about the 5th time. Never going back. ) Went last nite at about 6 and it was busy which was understandable why it would take a lil longer to get orders and drinks but not almost an hour for drinks for a group of 12-14 ppl. Then it was about 30mins after we got our drinks that the waitress can back to ask for our food order which we got about an hour ish later. My food was cold and way over salted. The Chicken Kabobs was cold, dry and salty. The Rice that came with it was under cooked and you could tell it had been sitting out for a good while. The only way I got it down was to take a bite then drink my blood Mary. Which was the only good thing. But they over charged me for that. There are two types of Bloody Mary there. One is just a simple one with just a stick of celery but the other was the "ultimate" which came with some pretty cool things on a stick. She charged me for the ultimate one twice even though I got a simple one and then an ultimate one bc I didn't know that simple didn't come with the extra topper. So I asked for the extra topper and she brings it out and gives it to someone else bc he had gotten "the ultimate" ( I've had this drink two other times and always got the topper so you can see why I was confused. Lol ) Asking to pay our check was a chore. I had to tell her who was on who's orders bc she never bothered to ask. Then it was about 20mins before we got those back and three of the checks where wrong. So then it was other waiting game. Finally got out after about 2 an a half hours all together.

Loved Tabbuli! I did not eat, but I went for the hookah. They had a good assortment of flavors! I tried coconut mint and switched to cocktail with rose. The hookah lasted forever, and the Service was good. We also ordered bloody marys and a habanero orange cocktail that were delicious. We didn't order food, but the atmosphere was nice. It was cozy inside with plenty of fire towers for warmth. I'll definitely be again for hookah, perhaps for food next time. We went on a Saturday afternoon , it really filled up at night! I definitely recommend it for hookah!

This is our third time coming here and we always love it. Very welcoming and friendly staff. They have a decent beer selection, great cocktails and frozen drinks, and they aren't over priced. I haven't had the food and always order from the bar. They have a great patio and a very social atmosphere. Good music too. The staff is awesome.

Some of the best Mediterranean food I've had in the States! Their Babaghanouj is maybe the best I've ever eaten. Falafel is homemade and fresh and crazy flavorful. You can tell that time and effort goes into the food here! Highly recommend this place--was here for lunch.

Ugh nothing is good here. I've been there a couple of times and in both occasions they did not have they kind of food that I wanted to order from their menu. The service is kind of messed up, there are some good servers but most of them suck, I also had a bad experience with one of their managers, she was just being a total bitch

  • Colleen J.

The entire time my friend and I were here I sort of badgered our server... and I feel that "sort of" and "badgered" are actually very mild terms. Perhaps I was a little too feisty, but I guess my cop out is that I take my happy hours very seriously. Is this such a crime?!?! I don't think so. Anyways, there was some confusion as to what was on happy hour according to the server and manager compared to what was advertised in City Paper. After a long back and forth with the manager we were given the advertised happy hour menu and prices, at which we were thrilled. Yes! Victory! The food was pretty good, I love their hummus with the tabbuli mediterranean dip. The server was understanding when we were curious about the happy hour menu, and I really appreciated that he was willing to figure out what was going on for us - which was very much the saving grace to turn around our experience. Until the next time, Tabbuli Grill has a thumbs up from me!

We loved this place! Initially, we were walking over to Fleet Landing; however, we noticed Tabbuli's courtyard (which is what we initially set out to find). The staff were friendly/attentive, and the food was pretty tasty! We only wanted a quick app and some drinks. The hummus was great. We'll be back!

I'll keep it brief because I don't think writing scathing expletives will be productive for any parties involved. Our waiter was incompetent and smoking hookah actively while working. He was so air headed he couldn't take our orders correctly or bring out correct items. We had random drinks being brought out the the table that we didn't order that we were later charged for. 2 HOURS ON A ****ING GYRO. ARE YOU KIDDING ME???!! The checks... 2/12 were correct. Terrible experience. I never wrote a review before but this service was so horrific I felt I needed to do a public service and inform people how awful my experience here was. Heinous.

Love This Place!!!! Arriving they had men twirling fire wands. There was a line so I automatically thought there would be a long wait, but we ended up getting in quick and luckily getting a seat at the bar. The bartenders were very attentive even though there was millions of ppl wanting drinks. They play a good mix of music. Hookah got to us quick and my bartender kept our drinks coming lol Next time I visit probably will be in the afternoon to try the food. But I will definitely be going back on a Saturday night to PARTY!!!!!!!!

Over-rated. If you want authentic middle eastern this isn't it. I was really disappointed with the food. The falafel was your prepackaged boxed falafel mix. The appetizer consists of 5 ping pong sized falafels for $6. When they run the half priced specials they are priced right If not they are extremely over priced for prepackaged falafels. The tahini sauce is watered down. The lamb didn't smell fresh and was tough. The beef kabob was average. The kofta was greasy and under spiced. The kofta was not formed/ skewered and grilled but more like sautéed taco meat. The only authentic part was the service. The service was horrible. Middle eastern restaurants are typically known for bad service and Tabbuli was on par with their bad service. They got my order wrong three times. I'd expect after the second time for the manage to come by and try to get everything right. The flower arrangement on the table were nice. Very bright and a nice touch.

There are soooo many better places to go in Charleston. I'm really upset I wasted a meal here. We chose it for the cute outdoor sitting but once we got inside, we realized that this place has some sort of identity crisis. At night, they seem to want to be a hip restaurant and hookah bar. There were lots of problems with this. 1) The ambiance was ruined by too much staff standing around by the bar chit-chatting (since there were few customers at 8pm on a Saturday). Tell them to go to the break room. 2) There were cheesy graphics on the tables and cheap menus. 3) We heard every time of music from really old Usher songs to country to Train. I felt like someone just took their iPod and hit shuffle. Then came the food and drink, which was even more disappointing and clearly prepared from processed ingredients. Since when does a "feta and olives plate" come with black olives from a can? Any real Mediterranean place would have kalamata olives. And I specifically ordered grey Goose vodka and got water-down cheap vodka. I've had better drinks at frat parties. My husband ordered the oysters which didn't seem fresh at all. This place needs serious management and kitchen overhaul. I don't blame the wait staff -- I just think they need better guidance.

Went for lunch on a Friday. The patio is really awesome, nice garden in the back. The staff were friendly and funny. The service was reeeeeeally slow for what few tables were seated (maybe 4-5). Maybe they had other delivery orders going? The food was average, not bad and not good. It also didn't fill us up. I wonder if dinner is better? We most likely won't be coming back to find out.

good, basic food. The mimosas were also clearly popular. Only recommendation to the chef is to either cook the savory and sweet in different parts of the grill, or at least clean off the sugar before cooking the omelettes. My greek omelette had a distinct sugar taste on the bottom of it that distracted from the rest of an otherwise fine dish.

If you want a decent "hookah" then this is an okay place to go in Charleston. The atmosphere is somewhat lacking and the cleanliness is not up to par. The service is fairly good but the crowd is dominated by boisterous teens and very young adults. If it's good Levantine cuisine you are looking for, this is certainly the wrong place to go. We ordered some mezza and it was anything but authentic. Some of the dishes were downright disgraceful to the actual foods they were supposed to be. I would have been better off whipping up some good mezza in my own kitchen. You would think a place named "Tabbuli" would have at least alright tabouli, but it was in fact awful. We sent it back. This is an okay place if you are pining for some shisha by the bay with a nice breeze, but "authentic Mediterranean food" is frankly a lie.

  • Mark L.

The atmosphere is diverse with music ranging from jazz to acoustic to dj spinning and there is a smoke filled air with cigarettes and hookahs galore outside. This is a trendy Greek restaurant right on the edge of Market Street. Unfortunately, it lacks a level of professionalism you would expect from a restaurant like this. The bartenders smoke your hookah and take shots with you and try to become an edgy NYC appeal. This isn't the place for that. If you are on a date or even look like it, respect should be the top priority. I had a bartender ask around to see if I was dating my date and a general manager offered a card in front of me. Not the way to run a good restaurant. Especially one that is owned by a very well established chef.

For the past few months this bar was clearly one of my favorites--the bartenders knew me and I went regularly. Then last night I sat down at the table with a waitress I have not had before and I have never been more rudely treated by any server at any restaurant. Apparently, in that dark atmosphere, she had a clear enough view to judge my pupils and declared that I was "too drunk" and that she "could not serve me". With no other further explanation, she brought me a water and offered us a hookah. I will not be returning to a restaurant that cannot explain to me why I am apparently "hammered."

Many restaurants in this same location have failed, but I truly believe that if you make it fresh and keep it simple, the people will come. For a Sunday night, there wasn't much of a crowd. The waitress was friendly though, and the service was good. We ordered the Baba Ghanoush and it was very good. Then came the Greek salad add grilled lamb and the Fattoush Salad add Kofta. The salad was super fresh and the meats tasted great. We want to get the word out on this place, because it is somewhat tucked away. If you're looking for Mediterranean fare downtown, please support this place!

The food here was pretty good, but nothing to brag about when it comes to the other awesome restaurants in Charleston. The specialty drinks were REALLY nothing special. We would have likely tried this place again and maybe ordered different drinks has they not double charged my card. They charge my credit card double my bill. It has been A MONTH and I have not been credited back nor does management seem to care. As an individual who works in the service industry, customer service at this establishment is a JOKE! CHECK YOUR BANK STATEMENTS!!!!!

Came here for lunch. Service was slow, price was expensive, food was mediocre. Got the chicken pita (mediterranean style...they also have american style with a different marinade and a dollar cheaper) and was completely unimpressed. The only thing I liked about this place is how nice the patio is and how close to the water it is.

We were walking around looking for a brunch place on a Sunday without a line, and saw the Tabbuli grill. Both my wife and I love middle eastern food, so we figured we would give it a shot. In terms of atmosphere it seemed more like a bar than a cafe. The bar occupies much of the space, the music is loud, and there is live music. The patio out back is really quite charming with a fountain and umbrellas for some tables to offer a little shade. The waitstaff is full of 20-something, attractive guys and girls, and the attention was quite good while we were there. Our waitress was engaging, and not afraid to share her opinion. Our food came out quickly, and we never had to wait long for anything. However... if this place is run by an experienced chef you could have fooled me. We ordered some hummus to start, and its flavorlessness was matched only by the straight-out-of-the-bag-from-the-supermarket pita slices. For a mediterranean place to serve hummus like that, gives a first impression that is impossible to recover from. It was the worst hummus that I have ever had. Thankfully the rest of the meal was at least a bit better. I had a lamb pita which was more flavorful (though I wonder why it came with french fries rather than something mediterranean), and my wife had an egg filled croissant which she said was decent. The prices were reasonable for good mediterranean food, however the food didn't live up to its end of the bargain.

Bottomless mimosas for ten bucks? Word. Cute server who looked like MJ from the Real World? Yes, please. He was great to us. 5 for service, 3 for food ( though the labneh was quite good). Fun time had by all

  • Valarie W.

My boyfriend and I stumbled across this restaurant, and wished that we had found it earlier in the week as we would have returned again, and maybe AGAIN! We had the Labneh with Za'tar and Olive Oil, a Kofta Pita and a Lamb Pita. It was all very, very good...in fact the Kofta was the best I have had. Everything was fresh and the service was good. It was nice to be able to sit out on the patio and enjoy the sun. If you love Mediterranean Food, do not miss this place!!!!

Chicken pita was awesome! Deducting one star for parking being an ungodly nightmare and one star for the hummus tasting like egg salad. Just gross. Worse yet was the unsafe food handling by all servers except ours. There was a dog in the bar and in between filling drinks and running ood the servers were petting the dog. Nasty.

This place is close to my work place and some of the things they offer are pretty tasty. However, the menu is not very user friendly. I stopped in for a quick take-out lunch recently, wanting the usual hummus, tabbouleh, baba ganoush. There was no reasonable way to order that combo. I finally ordered a tabbouleh, which came as a very small portion in a fried pita bowl and an order of hummus. With my iced tea, my entire lunch was $l6.98! I didn't want fried pita. I wanted a light healthy lunch. The tabbouleh had lots of parsley & tomatoes, which was nice, but almost no bulghur. My hummus was delicious, but it came in a plastic deli container with some pita on the side, and there was more than I really wanted for one meal. Honestly now! This must be a common request, but let me spell it out for you: what many of us want from a middle eastern meal is a healthy, vegetable based lunch at a reasonable price. Give me a combo plate, sprinkle a little feta over the top. Put some pita on the side (not fried, thanks) and charge me no more than $10 for that AND a glass of tea. If you can't give me lunch for $10 or less, I might as well go to SNOB where I can sit in elegance with a white table cloth, be served in comfort and get out for the same price. I do know something about food cost and you guys really gouged me at $17.

What a nightmare! The reviews online seemed great and we were in a group of 4 with a vegetarian so it seemed like a nice place where we could all have a casual lunch on the patio. Our server was great, the menu had good variety, but that's as far as we got. The owner was such a prick that he made offensive comments to us before our food or drinks came out so we left. Such a shame...because between the 4 of us we ordered almost $90 in food & alcohol on a Sunday lunch! For a tourist town - I was extremely shocked by the lack of service.

From the lamb gyro to the tabbuli, to the bad taziki (spelling, I know), it was awful. The lamb is not shaved, like traditional gyros, it was chunks thrown on a grill that were so tough and tasteless, I didn't finish my food. The drinks were eh, although, they do have a great liquor selection. The price counters the selection though. Definitely thriving on the looks of waiters and being in the heart of the tourist section of town. I would never return. Go to Ali Baba's on Daniel Island if you want Mediterranean food that's edible, authentic and with awesome service. Too bad their not located here! (Not to mention their owner isn't plastered all over the papers for some serious charges.)

Great atmosphere, great happy hour. Wife found this on yelp and we weren't disappointed. Fast, very friendly service and good prices on drinks, apps, and hookah during happy hour. The patio area was awesome, and when it got colder our waiter had no problem flipping on a heater for us to continue to enjoy ourselves. We stayed all evening! We will absolutely be back!!!

in mid-august i accidentally found this lovely restaurant while in charleston for a cruise departure - tabbuli grill is conveniently located just across the debarkation point for carnival cruise. our first visit to the grill was in the morning - tabbuli was open much earlier than any of the other restaurants in the sleepy, charming city. we ordered the fresh bottomless mimosas (a steal!) & breakfast. the food was delicious. our second visit to tabbuli was after the cruise returned to charleston. we had several hours to burn while awaiting our flight back to los angeles. our server - a lovely girl whose name i cannot remember for the life of me! - took excellent care of us. again, i ordered the lentil soup & mimosas. when it was time for us to find a cab, she was so gracious to set us up with one. i would certainly return to this clean, cute restaurant upon return to charleston. the food & service were fantastic & i suspect they were building an outdoor dining patio - another plus!

We went to this restaurant thinking we would have Mediterranean cuisine, but the name of the restaurant is deceptive. The service was pleasant but slow. The ambiance is excellent, outside, lots of plants, fans to circulate the air, shade, umbrellas. Good location near the market. The food was just ok. My partner's shrimp n grits were good but not the best. My chicken pizza was ok, not packed with flavor but certainly edible. If you want to drink, this is probably your place. The drink menu is about 4 x the length of the food menu. In fact, they have a menu posted outside that's big but then it's marked "Coming Soon." I asked the staff when the full menu would be available and it was anywhere from a week to a year.

The portions are pretty generous.

restaurants in my opinion should be graded on service, quality of food, and ambiance.

I moved from Charleston almost a year ago and haven't found a hookah like this one in South Florida. This place is definitely one of the only things I miss about Charleston. Great Customer Service and Environment. Best Hookah spot!!

My new spot

We went for Sunday Brunch and could not have had a better experience. Sat at the bar and had the Gyro Benedict...it was incredible! The staff was so friendly.

Bottomless mimosas for ten bucks? Word. Cute server who looked like MJ from the Real World? Yes, please. He was great to us. 5 for service, 3 for food ( though the labneh was quite good). Fun time had by all

The staff were nice but the seating area was very cramped. We had a drink and headed to the next place.
