Very nice family owned Japanese restaurant. We had the edamame, super crunch role, sushi and two custom made temaki's (role). The food was good and the atmosphere very laid back. I definitely recommend this place.

I was very surprised by this place. I've been in search for a decent sushi place in Charleston for a long time with no luck. I had the vegetable tempura udon, yellow tail hand roll and my husband had the chirashi bowl. The fish was all very fresh, the portions were very good. My udon was very tasty but the tempura didn't come out until almost towards the end of my meal and it seemed like it needed about a minute longer to cook because it was a little pale. The service was average, could be friendlier. The place was small and quaint with simplistic Japanese decor. The way the check came out was strange because there was no itemized handout of exactly what we ordered just numbers. A plus is that Shiki has a private lot so parking isn't a problem. Overall, everything was very good I will definitely be back again. If you're a purist like me and are looking for simplistic hand rolls or nigiri this place is for you!

Best sushi in Charleston, this place is never busy which is crazy because it is the best. Fresh fish is the name of the game and shi ki has the game to tame. I'm hesitant to even write this review because I do not want my favorite hole in the wall sushi spot to get overun but I also never want them to close their doors so please go here and eat, regulary, but not when I'm there.

Hesitant to write this because I want this place to stay quiet! Sushi was delicious (get the special crunch roll!!!) and service was so great - can't wait to go back!

Great food and casual atmosphere .The baked Dynamite appetizer is to die for!! Their house, Shiki Special Roll roll is awesome!! The waitress was very helpful in the ordering process and gave wonderful recommendations . Would definitely go back:))

Friendly staff, super crunchy roll and red snapper were great, highly recommended

These guys know their sushi! The volcano roll was to die for. Go there for the food, it is excellent.

My friends picked this place one night. All I knew was we were getting sushi on East Bay so I was expecting the atmosphere to be very similar to the seafood restaurants on East Bay. Not what I expected but I would describe this place as a hole in the wall. Whenever you got a craving for some sushi, this is a great place to go for a reasonable price. I had a Japanese beer, spicy tuna roll, and volcano roll all for under $20 bucks. The spicy tuna roll was good as expected, no flair or anything. Now the volcano roll, I will be getting that everytime. I'm sure other Japanese restaurants serve rolls like this but it was freakin delicious. The roll has soft shell crab and the kicker is they add fried batter on top, smelt roe( those orange egg looking things), and its served hot. Basically it has a nice gooey crust on top of the roll and it had a nice kick at the end of each bite. I WISH I had taken a picture but yall will just have to use your imagination until I go next time and snap a pic. The waitress recommended we get the Dynamite roll next time because it's the same as volcano but with scallop too. Nice find. Will be going back for that volcano roll for my next craving of sushi!

My boyfriend and I just went to shiki for the first time tonight and we LOVE sushi! It was amazing, really fresh good top of the line sushi and on top of the amazing sushi the people who own it are so nice and welcoming!! We will definitely be back soon.

My wife and I are Sushi fanatics originally from Chicago, and Shiki is one of the best Sushi places that we have had the pleasure to try. Fantastic food at very reasonable prices. It will be our new go to in Charleston.

Small place off off Bay st. Looks like a hole in the wall joint, but by far the best sushi I have ever had. Every bite was full of flavor. A must if looking for good Japanese .

Authentic, and a decent selection. No crowd. And the folks running the place were very friendly and welcoming.

One of Charleston's best kept secrets. I've had Sushi just about everywhere around town, and this place makes the best and freshest around. I've also been to Japan and you can tell the chef, who is always here, is definitely a pro. Can't recommend highly enough.

A nice spot for no frills sushi. Try their handmade rolls. I wish they were open Sunday for lunch.

One of my favorite places to get sushi in Charleston is here. I always get the chirashi, and sometimes I get another roll or two. I come with my family when I'm in town, and the atmosphere is really welcoming and the food is affordable.

Best sushi I've had since I traveled to Japan. Had fun conversation with the waitress. The friendliest people you can meet. Will come back again and strongly recommend this place.

This is by far the best sushi in many states. I have recommended so many people try their sushi. No one has ever complained. All of my friends and work associates share my opinion. This is the best!!!!!! It is a quaint place but number 1 in quality of Their sushi.

We have been to this quaint little family owned place several times. When they have it, the toro is fabulous. The salmon is also excellent. Both have a nice rich, fatty quality to them. The fish has always been fresh. Its kind of tucked away in a shopping strip. The service has always been courteous.

Sushi chef was trained in Japan. He is a step above others. Sushi and sashimi were fresh. Sushi was great. The Resturant is in an out of the way spot, hidden by Rite Aid. Well worth the effort.

Decent solid sushi. Nothing fabulous.

Great food and an excellent service. I eat a lot, I mean A LOT, of sushi and Japanese food and Shiki offers one of the best Japanese foods. Very nice and accommodating staff as well. facebook.com/pages/Shiki…

Very quaint sushi bar inside a strip mall. Chef was very personable and the waitstaff had outstanding suggestions without being overbearing. Super Crunch Roll is a must have. Asian Pear is ridiculous!!! I will be back here again.
(4)Thomas B.
We go often and find staff friendly & efficient. The sushi is as good as one gets at fancier, more expensive sushi shops in town.
(4)Larry C.
This is our favorite sushi place in the Charleston area. Super crunch roll and special crunch roll are out of this world. The service is great and prices are reasonable.
(5)Rebecca G.
The fish is not fresh and most of the sushi sucks. This place used to be really good (I was a regular) but now it's too pricey for the quality. The only good things on the menu are the Super Crunch Roll (quite tasty), Dynamite, and the ice cream. If you go, stick to these and non-fish dishes and you will have a good meal.

Shiki has pretty good sushi. It really is a mom and pop kind of place. The sushi has always been fresh. I also like the gyoza for an appetizer.
