Diabetics at Pizza Hut
Pizza is neither a great meal nor the worst for diabetes. All you need is some fact check and monitoring while ordering your pizza. Diabetics can opt for thin crust or skinny pizza at Pizza Hut and avoid the cheese topping to cut down on the excess fat and sodium. If you have diabetes, then ensure to check your portion size when you order a pizza. One or max. two slices are enough. You can also avoid meat if possible and go for wings as a meat option.
Foods to Avoid at Pizza Hut for Diabetics:
You must avoid Meat Lovers Pizza with Original Pan Crust as it contains over 1000mg sodium and will add 470 calories in your meal. You should also skip Super Supreme Pizza Large Original Pan Slice which is too high in sodium and fat. Chicken wings are often tempting but you must control and restrict yourself from ordering Traditional Honey BBQ Bone-in Wings as it can add up to your sugar levels if you eat too many. On average, a person orders or consumes six chicken wings pieces in a day.
Sides must be avoided at all costs especially if it's Bacon Cheddar Fries with Ranch Dipping Cup for its high sodium content. You must also avoid New York Style Cheesecake with Applesauce as dessert as one slice of this dessert item contains 86g sugar. Pizza Hut also offers other Italian dishes such as Pasta. However, you must skip Spaghetti with Meat Sauce and Meatballs and Garlic Bread as it is too high in sodium and sugar.

Pizza
Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.
Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.
Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
Italian Cuisine
The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

This is a perfect late-night snack after a night out in Charleston. Fair warning the slices are a out four regular slices, so don't make the mistake I did and order two, sadly one just did not make it into my belly despite my best efforts to even finish the first slice. I will be making the trip to Charleston again to try another slice.

Great New York style pizza. Out of the way but in a cool spot. Nice staff, easy place to sit and have a slice while hanging out in Charleston. I had pepperoni, which was served piping hot. Red pepper and Parmesan on the tables. Coke to drink. Good stuff. ****I have to add to my review after reading some others. Now I hate a hipster douche as much as the next guy but the staff was great while I was there! Making friendly conversation with families and individuals in the place. And for the PJs comment, those were chef scrubs or whatever you call them. WTF dude? You want them in McD's uniform? Have you ever seen what 5 star chefs wear?

I basically agree with what other people on here have said. The pizza is great, but everything else sucks. Let me explain: The pizza is pretty good. The cheese, pepperoni, and crust were all excellent. My only complaint is that their sauce is on the sweet side. Also, it literally is the biggest piece of pizza I've ever gotten. The three dollars I paid for a piece was worth every penny and then some. Here's what I meant when I said everything else sucks: The staff/atmosphere/room. The staff are the typical snobbish "hipsters" in their 20 somethings thinking they're better than everything. You get that vibe just by ordering. Also, the guy who made the pizza's was wearing pajamas. This place had no atmosphere and defines the definition of a DIVE. It's so small and gross in there. I'm pretty sure there's less than ten tables and they're slammed packed most of the day. *Also, I paid two dollars for a drink and then they want to charge .50 cents for a refill? Come on...plus, there's no water option unless you buy a bottled water. I don't know about the person reading this, but I don't drink soda/tea...so that sucked. Anyway, if you order this to go you might love it. Hell, I probably would have given this place a five if I would have ate it outside.

Yum! Super casual and pretty cheap if you're downtown and don't want to spend a lot. It's just your casual pizza joint. All they serve is pizza and calzone/Stromboli! But the slices are huge!
(4)Boone D.
Thank God this place exists! When you're wrapping up a bachelorette party and literally shut the town down and need some food to soak up the alcohol, this place was a blessing! They seriously have the biggest pizzas I have ever seen. We struggled getting them into our cab/mini van. I don't want to ruin it for anyone, but they have a funny little "package" for the ladies. It was hilarious and made our night even more fun and entertaining! Thanks, y'all, for making our night little more interesting!
(5)Justin C.
I'm not even honestly sure why i'm giving this place 2 stars and not 1, out of pity maybe?... We were clearly boozed up, it was late night, and we're told, oo, try Giovanni's pizza, one of their large pies. So we go, order a 24" pie, cheese. We get back to the hotel, and ehhh, let's say the pizza just had no taste. The sauce was lacking, the cheese had no flavor (is that possible?..), the crust wasn't cooked all the way through.. Just not good. Slight changed and this could actually be halfway decent pizza, but it's not.
(2)Kris L.
3.5 stars A bit of a rip off: $4 for one slice and $6 for a slice and a drink (But I guess in charleston it could be worse) The pizza itself has good crust integrity (no flopping crusts here), the cheese tastes fresh, and the sauce is about average. It is a meaty sauce, not sweet. I Don't regret trying it, but will be going elsewhere for my next slice. Tip: open late and accepts basic credit cards
(3)Elvis D.
Are you kidding??????????????? This place was a joke. I believe the only reason their still in business is because of the tourists.
(1)Laura M.
Great place to stop for a slice. Delicious New York style pizza. The slices are huge!!
(4)Josh D.
Great pizza and fast, friendly service. Puts many pizza establishments to shame. Only get to visit SC once a year and will add this place to my must visit places.
(5)Shellie S.
Moved to charleston from ny/nj area and have had issues finding pizza I'm used to. Stopped in here on a whim while waiting for a ghost tour and was happy! Thin crust ny style pizza! Place was very plain, so also made feel at home! Will def go back. The pieces are huge but that doesn't matter as good or bad, because it tastes like home! I've noticed pizza taste in the south is different so if you like southern ny pizza, you won't like this, as it's the real ny deal!
(4)Joy S.
Love this pizza! My office of 3 used to order from them all the time. Sadly, we don't anymore because my boss has been on a permanent health kick for the last few months and there's no way I can justify ordering a pizza by myself. If I could, I would because it might just be my favorite pizza in Charleston. And like others have noted, the slices are huge. I'll always remember the time we ordered their second largest size pizza and oh my word, did we get a shock when it was delivered (see photo). I have since always wondered just how massive their largest size has to be. The only reason I'm deducting a star is because we've had some....err, unique experiences with our deliveries. The owner seems like a nice enough guy but he'd sometimes make the deliveries and then talk smack about his employees. That just didn't sit right with me. But the pizza is darn tasty.
(4)Austin C.
This is a fantastic place that truly is a one of a kind place. When you walk in the jutbox is rolling with some classic hits. You look around and you can just tell it's a family run business. Often I will come in for a cheap, huge slice of pizza. When I leave I remember that this is a place that is a great stop and you are sure to be filled and satisfied when you leave. I would recommend the pepperoni with double pep. But hold the extra cheese!
(5)Steve V.
Not too impressed. I was hungry so I ate. But there's no atmosphere. Staff just looks at the wall and doesn't engage. The pizza itself was ok, nothing creative or fun... or great. Maybe someone will take ownership and make it fun!
(3)Erica B.
Hey justin c., maybe it's because you drank your taste buds away? This is the closest to New York pizza I have come.
(5)Megan Y.
Called ahead and after half an hour still no pies! Place screws up orders and they charge over $50 for two pizzas meanwhile some other people get our order well before us because there's no organization! So messed up
(1)Chelsy P.
Every local knows Giovanni's, and I've not met someone that doesn't like it. I always recommend it to my friends; it's a local restaurant, but it's got that NY pizzeria taste. And ooooh, the taste. I'm usually a chicago style pizza fan, but for Giovanni I'll make an exception. The slices are so big you almost HAVE to fold them up. Super greasy, super thin, and super, super delicious. If you get a whole pizza: first, God bless you, and second, be sure to be sober enough to be able to carry the giant box with both hands, because you'll need to. Unfortunately, Giovanni's did go up recently--as of this writing, it's now $6 for a one-topping slice and drink. No free refills, either. If they go up again I might have to eat there less, but as it stands, being so close to my office on Cumberland street means Giovanni's is a frequent lunch stop, even without friends or family in town. There's not a lot of "atmosphere" here (few tables, harsh fluorescent lighting, nonchalant staff, etc.), but that isn't what I go to Giovanni's for--I go for the delicious, delicious pizza.
(4)Scotty C.
If you're in the Market or East bay area, this is the place everyone end's their night. I personally have ended many an evening with these giant slices. This place is authentic NY style pizza. Super thin, super greasy, and you need to fold it in half to eat it. Watch out if you order one to go, the giant box can be a drunken walking disaster or you will get asked for a slice of pizza by every drunkard in a 3 mile radius who can see you carrying the box down the street with two hands. One night I called in a pick up order to take home and when I picked it up I realized the pie wouldn't even fit in my car. I had to put it in the trunk just to get it home. Pro Tip: Don't even think about it if its busy but, if you head in at a quieter time, ask about the off menu Meat Wheel. You won't be disappointed.
(5)Jerson M.
This place falls into the category of probably having overinflated reviews because visitors are thrilled to have a pizza the size of a tractor tire while they're on vacation. But once you're over that, it's just basic thin crust pizza. There's no tap water to be had, so thirsty tourists beware.
(2)Michelle A.
This pizza was amazing. Group of 4 shared one of the larger pizzas as it was the best deal. Didn't care for the charge for water or a cup of ice. Also they charge 50 cents a refill on the fountain drinks. Also instead of plates the pizza just came with 4 pieces of wax paper, messy, but I can overlook that for the taste of the pizza. I'd go back next time in Charleston.
(4)Justin A.
There isn't much that needs to be said about Pizzeria Di Giovanni. If you've been downtown in Charleston a few times you've probably already eaten here at least once, and it's left a fondness and possibly an occasional longing in your heart. It's great for a quick stop and a cheap bite to eat. It's only about five bucks for a slice of pizza and a drink. It's important to mention that the slices of pizza are freaking HUGE. This is the kind of special place that develops a devout following. All it takes is a single slice to be converted. I had the Stromboli when the other location was still open which was also pretty tasty, but the pizza is the heart of this place. Thin crust, great sauce, and slices bigger than your head. What's not to love?
(5)Aisha V.
When it comes to pizza in Charleston, Pizzeria Di Giovanni is without a doubt, as good as it gets. Shoot, in the SOUTH! Its a small, clean and comfortable joint in the middle of the market owned and run by a group of people who are mellow, Italian, and, VERY serious about their food. That is always a good combination. I havent had pizza so good since I was in New York, and Pizzeria Di Giovanni is no doubt a contender with the best of the best ANYWHERE. If your only comparison is Andolinis and Mellow Mushroom, you have no idea how good REAL GOOD damn pizza is made. Stinks for you because neither one comes remotely close. The freshest tomato sauce filled with fresh herbs and garlic. Nice crispy crust, slightly buttery pie made up of fresh dough..OH can you taste the difference when ingredients are fresh. Thats how you make good pizza. Not to mention the slices are enormous and every penny you spend is worth it for SURE. Its super easy to miss because of the location but if your anywhere downtown and in the mood for pizza, stick PIZZA in the search bar of your map and follow the directions because you are without a doubt not too far from Pizzeria Di Giovanni.
(5)Mary-Ann D.
Nice little hidden gem. Great huge pizza by the slice. It was delicious. My boyfriend got the mushroom and anchovies slice with a coke and I got sausage and roasted red peppers with a bottled water. Total was about $12. My only disappoint was that there was not enough cheese for my liking when it comes to such big slices on the pizza for me and the anchovies were too salty. I also would have preferred bigger pieces of sausage on my slice. Other than that I liked the atmosphere and it was the perfect crust. Thin slice. Not overly thick like most chains do. Definitely would recommend this place!
(4)Emilia L.
We were told this was a great spot to get drunk pizza. OK! I wasn't drunk and wasn't even particularly hungry, but the idea of NY style pizza sounded amazing at this late hour. The slices were huuuuuuuge. Way bigger than any slices I have seen before. One slice could probably sate two moderately hungry people who want to eat light. BF started off with one slice and I sampled a bit. I guess either he was really hungry or I was eating too much of his pizza, because he got a second slice. The second slice must have come from a fresh pizza, because it was definitely hotter and better than the first slice. For $3/slice, it's a great late night dining option. I wish Atlanta had a similar place! Getting a bit tired of the Checker's late night runs :)
(4)Demetria M.
This is a pretty small pizza spot inside of the Rainbow market. I was told the pizza was the best on the market but that is certainly up for debate after this visit as it was mediocre at best, the sauce was tangy and not good so that ruined it for me....there was also something about the dough that didn't taste good......it just wasn't made well compared to other new york style pizzas I've had in the south. This makes the second pizza spot on the market that has just been 'meh'.....I'm certainly in no rush to try the others.
(2)Ryan M.
Excellent drunk person pizza.
(4)Hana M.
I had a good feeling about this place, actually I had the feeling I was back home on the LI shore, I mean I was surrounded men who were better dressed and more maintained than myself but with a very obnoxious presence, in NY, we endearingly call these guys guidos and thought "wtf... Guidos in charleston?? Well this has gotta be some good pizza. " and it is. Zesty herbed sauce, thin crust, large slice, it's not that dramatic you shouldn't have to share the slice with your friend. This guidette approves.
(5)Brad W.
Closed on Easter:( This is hands down the best drunk Pizza in Charleston. They are opened before a long night of drinking and after a long night of drinking! They are also open the next day to dish out a jumbo slice to help soak up the previous nights drinking. Not to mention the pizza is pretty good anyway.
(4)Chuck S.
Must stop here for pizza. 24' fed ten of us!!
(4)Rebecca M.
So good the best in Chas by far!!! And now they are adding one in Park circle! YUMMMMMMMMM!!!!
(5)Brian P.
I can't comment on the food because I only popped in two days in a row to get some coffee, but I just had to review the service, or lack thereof, at least on the second day. The first day a very nice young lady with a nose ring painstakingly made me a great cafe mocha, and she was very pleasant asking me where I was from, etc. The second day, my friend went in to order my coffee while I waited outside with my dog. After he came out to watch the dog, I went in to use the bathroom and a young man with dreadlocks made a b-line for me and asked in a very aggressive, loud, and snide manner "CAN I HELP YOU!?" I told him I was using the bathroom. He barked, "The bathroom is for customers only!" so that everyone in the restaurant turned to look at me. I assume he meant to embarrass me. I told him I had just ordered a latte and pointed to my friend who was holding my latte. Then I ignored his idiocy and his attempts to shame me and went and peed anyway. At no point did he apologize for his rudeness. As someone with an overactive bladder, you do not want to hassle me about your lackluster, not very clean bathroom being only for patrons. Otherwise, you're going to have a puddle to clean up. And by the way, overactive bladder is a handicap so really, stop hassling people about using your bathroom. Everyone else in Charleston had no problem with me using their bathroom whether I bought something or not, so really, relax! I really saw no reason for you to covet your bathroom. It's dirty, dingy, and is the kind of bathroom that you look at and wonder if you're going to get Hepatitis using it, so, really, Pizzeria Di Giovanni, you can just unclench.
(1)Melissa P.
The slices of pizza here are huge! They made for the perfect end to a night of bar-hopping in downtown Charleston, but I wouldn't choose to come here for a planned lunch or dinner. We had a basic pepperoni pie. Crust was of your regular, medium thickness variety. Nothing special in the way of spices. The boys in our group enjoyed it better after they cooked it a bit more in the oven for a few minutes. I have a feeling the left over pieces were devoured for breakfast the next morning.

Found this place based on the reviews here on yelp. Ordered the 18" pizza to go, after we got back to where we were staying we found the crust very burnt. Since it was raining we didn't take it back but the burnt crust made this thee worst pizza I ever paid for. Pizza pizza has better pizza for much less. If the crust was OK this might have been a good pizza but we couldn't tell. They had to have known since they took it from the oven, put it in the box and cut it. Won't be back or recommend.

I went here this past January while competing in Charlestown. We arrived around 2:00-2:30 and there might have been two people (not staff). We ordered one slice and a drink per person thinking this place was so expensive and where else we could finish off our lunch. When the pieces came out we actually had to take pictures so that people would believe the size. It was bigger than a 12 year olds head! We ate and even had a little leftover. This was the best place I ever are while in town. Definitely a five star place.

Great pizza! Just to remember that drink refills are $.50.

My friend and I had just completed a successful bar-hopping adventure. Delicious, fattening, simple carbohydrates were on our minds. This pizza place suddenly appeared, like a sign from the After-Alcohol gods. I am not from the area, so I ordered a large, thinking it would be a traditional large. NOPE, what I got was a $25 pizza that I could have used as a weapon to knock out everyone in my path. I'm a short girl and carrying the box back to the car felt like a workout. Knowing we would not be able to consume the monstrosity by ourselves, we offered up slices to a few lucky people we encountered on our journey back to the car. And when we got home, we opened the box and realized we still had more than enough for ourselves. The slices are ginormous. Definitely have to be folded in order to be consumed with any sort of manners. Thin crust. Perfect cheese and sauce ratio, and something surprising (rosemary, maybe?) Needless to say, we polished off our 2am snack and knocked right out. I am still thinking about that pizza. So, so worth the $25.

Best slices in town!

Good value for the size of pie you get, very friendly. The jalapeños are definitely on the hot side, so if that's what you're into, go for it.

This is the best pizza downtown! If you like NY style pizza then this is your place. They serve HUGE slices of delicious pizza. The delivery service is quick too.

Excellent thin crust, NY style pizza by the slice or a whole pie. I loved it and so did the wife. Prices are very reasonable ($3 for a huge slice). I would definitely eat there again for a quick and cheap lunch.

First I love how every table has there own red pepper, parmesan cheese, napkins, basil, garlic and frank's redhot cayenne pepper sauce. I also love the slice and soda deal for $5.00. The slice is HUGE, with a thin crispy crust and delicious sauce!

When in Charleston... do as the New Yorkers do? Hey, if you're craving a good New York style pizza, why not? Giovanni's has a convenient location within walking distance of Charleston's open-air market and museums. It's a no-frills, hole in the wall sort of place where you can get a hefty slice of authentic thin-crust pizza. Not the kind that gets soggy after a few minutes and droops in your hand, or oily kind that requires napkin blotting. This pizza is properly foldable, crispy on bottom with fresh cheese and savory tomato paste on top. Mmm! It's the closest I've found to NY pizza in South Carolina. The service is fast and the people are friendly with a little bit of Northern attitude. It may not be Charleston's signature fare, but Giovanni's is a fun alternative to the overpriced tourist traps.

Sucks! Don't do it! Bad pizza waste of money given all the great restaurants in Charleston.

HUGE slices - pretty good pizza. This place isn't going to set your world on fire, but it'll be extra tasty after a few beers.

Good pizza, open late, non-stop traffic, excellent. Place is a hole in the wall no kidding. The pieces are HUGE, you have been warned. For late night chow, this is the only place in Charleston to go.

I was looking for great pizza, and a local turned me on to this place. It's located on North Market street in the downtown of Charleston. I really like pizza, and I really like Giovanni's. I ordered a cheese and a pepperoni slice. They were HUGE. Only about $3 each, and the size of a small pizza elsewhere. The cheese, sauce and crust are New York style (thin). I was walking down the street eating it, and everyone asked me where I got it. I just said "Giovanni's". If you're in downtown Charleston, be sure to get a slice. You will NOT be disappointed. You will actually be elated!! Plus, they're open late, so if you close down a bar, you can still get a slice as you're going home.

Crust was doughy, requested extra crispy, but guess they thought I was drunk college student and wouldn't know the difference. On the bright side, delivery was prompt and cordial.
