The BEST, MOST ACCOMODATING, WONDERFUL people you will meet in Charleston! We had booked at another hotel that turned out to be incredible unsatisfactory. Fortunately, we were able to find The Meeting Street Inn. We were greeted by Keith and Darren (aka "Broadway") who were wonderful at making sure we were comfortable and having a delightful stay. They allowed us to go up and view the room first, worked out our reservation so we did not have to change rooms for the following night since we were a last minute walk in, had a bellhop for bags and someone to valet the car since parking was about 2 blocks away. Keith was able to help us book a few different tours and Darren was always there to help with any questions or recommendations of places in the city - in general good-hearted people who care about the travelers in their hotel - great people to know and a splendid staff. The hotel itself is unbelievably charming, a true feel of southern hospitality - just look at the pictures! The stay included daily HOT breakfast buffet AND a cocktail hour with free wine, cheese and crackers : ) It is also conveniently located to everything - Kings Street Shopping, Market Place, East Blvd. - plus Toast is right next door! Best tip about this place: they have huge, fluffy, clean and comfortable towels - pool side and in your room!

Nice older hotel with charming decor. If you want something a little out of the ordinary with old city charm this is it!!! The staff was so polite and extremely helpful.... Looking forward to our next stay.

This place is awesome!! I was here for work and stayed 3 nights at Charleston Place for a convention and then we switched to The Meeting Street Inn because my family also came with me and we wanted a real Charleston experience. The staff here is amazing, super friendly. Wine and cheese is served at 5 every evening. There is a van that can take you anywhere you want to go which was nice because it rained a lot the week we were here. And the breakfast has everything you can imagine. Would stay here again for sure! Plus the location is right in the middle of everything. Love the homey feel!

We were so pleased with our stay. I am very fussy about cleanliness and this inn lived up to my standards. The breakfast was varied and good; the afternoon wine with the cheese and fruit platter was fresh and plentiful and afternoon lemonade with homemade cookies hit the spot. The staff is courteous and helpful. Located in the heart of the city enabled us to walk to all our destinations throughout the weekend. I can't wait to come back for another visit!

We were in Charleston for a wedding and stayed here for the cheaper option. The location is killer the rooms are completely solid. Free WI-FI is always great. I breakfast exceeded my expectations, though I should note they were not high. Parking was super simple across the street. Staff was average. Not horrible at all but nothing that was all that great either. 3 stars for room and staff. Extra star for cost and location.

It is cheap for a reason! Wait, did I say "cheap?" Cause our two-night stay there ran us about $400 (including parking and taxes). No I don't think it is cheap at all, and I would rather spend a little more and stayed at a better B&B. Now let me be clear about the positives: The people working there were very nice and helpful and the room was clean. It is also in a prime location, but you know what? Pretty much all Inns and hotels in the historic center are in prime location as everything is in walking distance. Now for the negatives that were however not deal-breakers, just good mood breakers: 1.The parking situation is not ideal. Their parking garage for which we were charged an extra $14/night, is two blocks away (did we know that? no). They do have golf carts that transport as back and forth and the drivers are very nice. However, our second day there we came back from the beach to find to open spot in that lot. Really? If you charge people, you better do the math and leave their spots available for the total of their stay. It seemed that this happens quite often, judging from the staff reaction when we told them. By the time we went to the hotel, and the golf cart guy followed us back (to resolve the situation another car was leaving). Point is, this should not have happened. 2. Yes the breakfast sucks but I don't care that much. We are staying in a foodie town, so I don't have to rely on their breakfast or their "wine and cheese" reception we chose not to attend (went to a wine bar instead). But at one point their water dispenser carafe broke (again from what I was told), so there was no water. Next morning they ran out of forks (!). There was no seating available in our outside during breakfast. 3. The bathroom was clean, counter large, but bathtub way outdated. No nice cutie bathroom lotions/no hair conditioner. AC was loud. TV was small. No pen in the room. Room felt stuffy after a day. People, you can't just add a canopy bed and some flower wallpaper and call this charming OK? Dealbreakers: 1. Slotted 4rth floor "balcony"; No a/c in the elevator: it was like a sauna in there; did not know which evil to go for, the elevator or the stairs and received all the heat from the a/c motors next to them. 2. Most important: the overall "feel" of this place. Basically it is a half step-upped and overpriced Days Inn (which is next door AND has its own parking lot). That is not what I have in mind when I reserve a room in a B&B in Charleston, and when I pay all this money, sorry.

Very charming hotel. They actually use real keys. It was very charming and neat. The front desk owners/ employees were too busy to get up and acknowledge me or anyone else that was standing at the front desk. They were very put out. Definitely when they get to you mentality. Very poor service for 220 a night. Won't go back!

For the price this place was great!! The staff was very helpful and the rooms were very charming. Darren Whitaker was the gentleman that helped us and we were very impressed with the service we got while we were here. Nice centrally located place.

Bkfst a disappointment. I thought this was a B & B so I arranged my morning sched to be sure to have time to enjoy a gourmet bkfst. Alas, it was the usual fare you'd get on the interstate; small boxes of cereal, styrofoam bowls, eggs made hours or days in advance, etc. Quite a letdown. Staff not too friendly, either. Barely looked up when I entered the room and this happened each time.

No complaints here! Super close to King Street, adorable and cozy rooms with canopy beds and even a little balcony, (super) friendly staff, and a fine continental breakfast. There's even a jacuzzi, and outside there is a nice space to sit and relax. You can either find street parking or park across the street ($12 a night). The price was reasonable, especially for a holiday weekend (about $129). Great old-style charm!

checked into the hotel last night. I didn"t realize until today when i got a pop-up from my credit card company that they had over-charged us biig-time. we were quoted $159/night and we were charged something quite different when I did the math it came out to about $240/night (including tax). Charleston has a 13% hotel tax so it looks like an overcharge of about $80/night --ouch! We went to the front desk and were told that we were charged the high season rate which begin tonite and we need to talk to the manager--he comes in later. we shall se how that goes. All in all, after staying at The Mansion on Forsyth Park in Savannah it's hard to say anything great about this hotel--rather run-down and in need of a facelift. a little cleaning all around wouldn't hurt either. I will follow up with another review when we depart.

I loved staying at this inn. We were on vacation in Savannah and Charleston and made the decision to just find historic inns in the center of town so we could walk everywhere. Not all historic inns are this nice and cozy, and clean. But this was very well maintained, A lot of antique charm and cool side porches that lead to your room. The bed was comfortable and had a canopy. There was a nice outdoor patio for having your morning coffee before heading out around town. Just a unique experience. And the price was reasonable for the location.

Phenomenal location and a wonderful, generous staff that went out of its way to be helpful at every turn. The folks at the front desk made great recommendations, helped us sort out car rental confusion and then a mistaken parking ticket among other things, and were easy-going and friendly throughout. Accommodations were spacious and while there was limited natural light as noted by other reviewers there were plenty of lamps and a private back porch so we could leave the door open when desired. It was perfect for our needs and we would return the Inn in a heartbeat on future Charleston travels.

Good old Charleston aesthetic, If one is going to stay in Charleston, it is great not to stay in a modern room. The Inn was old, yet smelled nice, much better then the modern rooms we stayed in down the coast :-) The wooden walkways and stairs creaked, the wall paper and lamps were ghastly and appropriate. The furniture was comfortable dark leather chairs and dark old fashioned dressers to hide the TV. Central to why I wrote this review was the beds :-D, tall four poster beds with the crochet netting. You know in all those movies where people hid under the bed, and no one can fit under a modern bed at all, so I makes you wonder where these beds are that anyone could hide under. Well 3 or 4 people could comfortably hide under these giant old bed frames. We laughed when we opened the door to our room, we thought it was so quaint and neat'O and oh yeah romantic. A plus, they have cheese and crackers and wine at 5:30 pm and nice sweet bread goodies, bagels, fruit and coffee etc .. from 7 to 10ish am. And of course it is walking distance to the waterfront, and all the old shops, and everywhere one wanders while visiting the lovely old town of Charleston. P.s. I'm not sure why I didn't give them 5 stars. Then even had good WiFi, and I think they might have a ghost or two.

A very quaint hotel. After checking out the Miller Hotel down the block and comparing rooms I decided to stay at the Meting. The Miller's room smelled liked cooking grease and the beds were like cardboard, and they wanted $200+. The Meeting is a huge mom and pop hotel. You're surrounded by antique charm the moment you hit the lobby. The staff is pleasant and easy to deal with. My room was a nice size, very clean with no deodorant odor and came with a queen. The queen mattress was a bit high off the floor.. it reminded me of when I was a kid and I used to take running starts, jump and do a rolling tumble on my parent's bed because it was so high off the floor. But the mattress felt comfortable and I fell asleep easily so the height size was more amusing than it was a pain. Television was adequate. No electric outlet was supplied by my desk and I had to work my laptop wireless (supplied on the house) on my bed. I attended the nightly wine and cheese party the staff throws at 5:30 p.m. and it's quite nice. You socialize with other guests, drink wine and eat some mediocre tuna spread and spicy mushroom, which really isn't important since the food is just a pretext to relax, or relax and chat. I even met a couple from Park Slope who were with their family from Knoxville and Birmingham. Continental breakfast is also on the hotel. There's a parking lot across the street that charges $12 a day for hotel guests and you're situated right in the middle of the historic district. My only complaints, which might be moot because of certain circumstances is that their ac/heater only does cool, cold and very hot. I was there during the cold snap which I understand is a rare occurrence and had it on very hot. Also, you're given a key to your room, not a smart card. A key that fits into a hall and closet lock on the front door. A lock someone like me can easily card open. However, I am a native Brooklyn and am therefore naturally. I will go back again later this year when it gets warmer.

I took a trip to Charleston with my family recently and stayed at the Meeting Street Inn. A friend had recommended it and I am sure glad she did. It was really quaint and in a great location. There was so much to see around the Inn. I would recommend it to anyone who is going to Charleston.

If you're staying in Charleston, this is a great place to spend your money. The hotel is not cheap, but it has a lot of advantages. One caveat though: this hotel is not new, and it shows. If you're looking for a polished high-class experience then go somewhere else. That's not what Charleston is about though, this hotel has some charm. It's centrally located, just south of the City Market and it comes with parking across the street. They serve wine and cheese in the evenings as well as pastries in the mornings.

cute little inn with more character than one of those big chain-hotels. and by character, i don't mean nastiness - the room we stayed in was very clean and relatively spacious. great location as it is walking distance to all the main tourist sights of downtown charleston. wine and cheese reception daily. they also have breakfast in the morning but we didn't get up in time for that, since we were still on pacific time. oh and free wifi!
