Good Irish/Chicago vibe. Chicago Bears, Cubs, Bulls, and Blackhawk gear everywhere. They have beer pull handles from the ceiling which was cool and different. Bathrooms needed some work, just gross. Sinks where falling off the wall and everything just felt dirty. Our staff was a little on the slow side but it was College Football Saturday. I had the chicken tenders with Sweet Heat BBQ sauce and it was outstanding. The sauce put it over the top with the housemade chips. During the week they do offer a happy hour with great prices.

Great sports bar with good deals on beer (uncommon in this city) and surprisingly good bar food! Large menu and lots of tvs, what more could you want in a sports bar!

This is a good place to grab a beer and enjoy some average bar food at reasonable prices. We had Alligator bites as an appetizer, which was pretty cool (tasted fine), but it was part of a 'special menu' for the SEWE event that was in town that weekend. The rest of our food was alright. The wraps were decent, but the chicken was low quality. The only bad thing was the house chips. They were burnt and just didn't taste good. Our server was good, but after taking our orders, he was very robotic (not a terrible thing), so his personality dropped. We received our food and drink in a timely fashion, but there was no connection with our server. The thing I enjoyed most about this restaurant was they served the Sweet Potato tots with some type of honey cinnamon butter. It was awesome! Overall, a decent place, but you wouldn't be missing out if you couldn't squeeze it in to your trip.

It was weird a year ago...and still is. Awesomely decorated and from the looks alone gives the impression it's a great time.. Problem is that was about the only thing good about the place. Weak drinks, weak staff and a price point a little to rich for the experience. If you do happen to go...check out the table they made out of all the fake ids they confiscated.

Great burger and beer. Prices are excellent (my Stone IPA was $2.71, Bud Light = $1.87). Ashley our waitress was top-notch. Fast and friendly. Clean bathrooms and kitchen. HIGHLY recommended.

Our waitress was such a sweet-heart! I always say, the service seriously either makes or breaks your dining experience. The food here is mediocre. But because the waitress was so nice, it made it better. The one dish I thought was pretty awesome... Sweet Potato Tator Tots. Yes, tator tots. Nostalgia, with a twist. And they serve it with this unusual honey butter dip. Good... but not a fan. The tots though were awesome, hot, and made fresh to order!!!! It was a pretty empty bar... but Charleston itself was pretty empty so not sure if it's always like that or if things pick up at other times. But definitely a good bar to go to if you're into sports and want to watch a game.... tvs everywhere!

We spotted a Blackhawks flag hanging out front and thought 'Chicago bar?! YES!' and walked in. There's plenty of space in the bar to sit, long bar, lots of tables, an area with couches, tvs to watch games, Buck Hunter, dart boards, etc. It was Happy Hour and we were given a HH menu. I use menu loosely because there were no prices on the booze portion of the menu. There were prices next to the food options -- $3.99 for fried okra, fried ravioli, (which are really 4 or 5 mini pizza pockets), friend mushrooms and a few other things. Surprisingly, French fries are not on the happy hour menu. Fine. The 4 of us ordered the okra, shrooms and ravioli and got a round of beers. Both the okra and the mushrooms were hearty portions, and it's fried food, so it's both satisfying and slightly greasy, you know what you're getting into here. The raviolis were delicious, I just wish there were more of them in the order. Oh well. There were a ton of beer and drink options listed on the HH menu with their varying alcohol percentages listed, but there were NO prices. I'm sorry, that's not a menu. I shouldn't have to ask you what each beer costs individually. I know a Chimay is going to cost a lot more than any other beer, why would you list all the beers together on the sheet without pricing them all individually? What really frosts my a (and is the catalyst for this review) is the happy hour menu says, among other deals, $2 Domestic Bottles. Hmmmm...Domestic: of, relating to, or originating within a country and especially one's own country (Merriam-Webster). So I order a Sam Adams and my friend ordered an Abita . When we got the bill, I was charged more than $2 for each of those beers, when I asked my server about it - being that it met the guidelines - it's made in America (ergo domestic) and a bottle of beer, she had no answer for me. She asked another server, who was equally as clueless. In comes lady #3 (maybe a manager) and was told, in a belittling and rude tone that Sam Adams and Abita are craft beers and don't count. Then she said to me 'Corona is also made in America, should that qualify?' and I looked at her and said 'yes, if it's made in America, then it is Domestic.' I don't understand the misuse of the word here. if you want to restrict your HH pricing, that's absolutely up to you as the owner of an establishment, but you can't bamboozle your customers into ordering and then saying, oh sorry that doesn't qualify when there's no separation of listed beers listed on the menu (it was the HH menu after all, they easily could've put asterisks on which beers are 'domestic' by their definition to qualify for the $2 deal) NOR are there prices on the menu to begin with. Conveniently, their online HH menu now doesn't list the $2 Domestic Bottle deal, I'm wondering if they took my advice to heart. I didn't intend for them to remove the deal but rather specify that only Bud, Miller and Coors are included in the $2 deal. Whatever, obviously with their location on E. Bay St, and being attached to hotel, they're only really concerned with shaking down tourists. I just expected more from my Chicago brethren. Boo to you.

Good choice for a bar if you don't want to be surrounded by tourists. It appears several locals come here and make it a casual environment. There is also a back outdoor area with a bar and games. The front area drew us in with the live music although it only lasted until 9pm then it switched to dance music on the inside.

We tried a number of sport bars in Charleston. This one is the best! Very yummy dinner entrees. Casual sports bar. Service is good. Food is great. Overall good restaurant!

We were visiting here on New Years Eve and had a COMPLETE blast. It was your average, bar-bar with normal drinks and a fun crowd. We popped a bottle of champagne, drank too much, kissed at midnight, and wandered off to our hotel after midnight. When we make it back to Charleston, we will definitely stop by for a drink!

  • Diana M.

We stopped in to watch part of a football game and to grab a drink. It was your average bar, I didn't see anything to really set it apart from other locations. A few nice beers on tap along with your standard selection.

  • Matt G.

The food was on point. I had family in from town and we came here twice because i could watch football and they could drink. Service was not nearly as great of as the food. First time we were there we had track our server down to place an order, she never checked in on us, then tracked her down again to pay our bill. The second time the young lady was a bit better, but when i asked if they had a specific beer and asked if i could keep it in a bottle and not a glass (i knew they had it since my sister got it the day before and put it in a glass) she said she was not sure if they even had it. At least know your beer selection. Id go back and give it a go either way

This was the first place we stopped in to eat and drink after driving in from Tallahassee. We wanted something simple and no fuss, just a place where we could have some drinks and good pub food. I had the Turkey Rachel on rye and he had the Open Face Brisket. REALLY good. Our server was very friendly and attentive, and even gave us great advice as to where to look for apartments since we brought up our move here this summer. Will definitely be back.

This pub is on East Bay St in the middle of all the action. Trivia was going on that Thursday night while I was there from approx 9:00 pm to 10:30 pm. It had a good size crowd without being too packed. The music (between trivia questions) was loud but you could still here people across the table. Never a wait at the bar. No one in my party of 7 ordered food. Beware: Shots vary on the bartender. We ordered 4 rounds of lemon drop shots. Several times we got girlie shooters (vodka and sour mix shot) and others we got straight up vodka shots. The cost was the same. You are carded at the door so don't forget IDs!!

Great Chicago themed bar in a great location. Friendly and helpful staff. Plenty of drink options. If we were in town when a game was on this would definitely be our spot.

A good place to hang with fellow Chicago sports-loving fans! Big booths, so great for groups of 8 or so. Average beer and food menu.

  • John K.

I used them for the comfy couches and $2 beer of the month while I was catching the Aggie women win the SEC while on vacation (Whoop!) . I think they have 16 or so TVs on site, and the staff was really awesome about setting up whichever game we wanted to watch. If I'm ever in CHS again and needing to catch a game, this is the place I'm going to. Haven't tried the food, but it was a cheesecake factory sized menu - so I'm sure you could find some bar grub no, problem.

Nice sports bar. Went here on Sunday to watch the Jets game. Nice atmosphere and good pub food. The fried pickles are outstanding!

Love the couches up front and we always have a good time here. Packer fans beware. It's a Bear friendly bar. But still loads of fun.

  • Melissa P.

I liked this place, although there wasn't anything too standoutish to really comment about it. It was a bar. It had alcohol. There was a band, and they weren't so loud that you couldn't hold a conversation. Why that is such a hard combination to find in Charleston is beyond me, but alas, this place had it. I liked the tap handles on the ceiling--nice touch.

    (4)
  • Sean D.

We dropped in on the 14th for some lunch and much needed AC. You can actually see the dust accumulation on the things they have hanging from the ceiling. We felt safe because we were just getting quick food that was probably frozen anyway. We were right. My wifes mozzarella stick were perfect rectangles and barely cooked. I had French fries with chili on them. The chili was really weird. It had some meet in it but it was tangy and sweet instead of tasting like chili should. I ate the fries that didn't tough the chili because after seeing how clean this place was I figured the chili was from weeks ago

I come here for all the Bears Packers games. Best sports bar downtown. Chicago dogs are spot on.

Stopped in while giving the "downtown Charleston tour" to some family/friends visiting... was busy, service was kind of slow, but food turned out to be good. Nice place to go if you are from the Midwest (like we are) and want to catch a game on TV that normally wouldn't be available in Charleston.

    (3)
  • Sandra R.

We had a great time. Watched the game on it's many TV's. A bit disappointed that almost every beer I tried to order was not available and at a bar that prides itself and boosts about how many beers they have in bottles and on tap. Overall it is a place I would go again. Great service and great stuffed pretzels as a snack.

  • Colleen M.

This is a good place to grab a few drinks and watch sports on tv. Every time I have been here to get food it has been packed so I usually just get drinks.

  • Donna C.

My boyfriend and I stopped in for a late lunch. We were treated to flat beer, raw, slimy, over battered fish and chips, tasteless fries and an inedible steak sandwich. Halfway through the meal we both stopped eating and started laughing, acknowledging this was the worst meal either of us had ever eaten. Never again!

    (1)
  • Amanda B.

Food is really good and they have great live music, but it smells like vomit. Every time I have been there I have wondered if they are just using an old mop bucket to clean or if someone literally just got sick next to me. Gross... But has potential.

My wife and I were on our way back from the haunted jail tour. We passed this bar on the way to our parking garage. Looking for somewhere simple to sit down for a meal, Mac's fit the bill as a simple burger sports bar and grill. Maybe we were a little hesitant because it was singer/songwriter night. It is quite loud in there even with the folk acoustic music and I am not really a fan of the typical whining about some girl and what she did to you music which is what was being played. That said, there were sports options on the tv and the music created a collegiate feel. The bar, itself, has a semi Irish theme. With just a few Irish inspired menu items, I wouldn't call it an Irish bar. They do have Guinness on tap though. Always a plus! This is probably one of the only true bars, in downtown Charleston, with a small section of the menu for kids. Otherwise, the menu is filled with burger options and solid sides. We started with an appetizer of 12 mild wings. The mild wings are fairly standard Buffalo wings. They aren't standard bbq wings with a semi sweet sauce. These are true hot wings. If you have a complete aversion to such things, stay away from them or just ask for naked wings. As it were, the wings weren't overly hot. They were just right. They had a decent amount of meat on the bone and were prepared just right. My wife ordered her meal off of the appetizer menu. She got chicken fingers and fries along with a soda. I got a cheeseburger with fries and a Guinness which, of course, one is never enough. My wife enjoyed her chicken fingers. They were standard sports bar fare. The fries were absolutely tasty. My burger was prepped just right and was very good. All in all, the food is what you will find in a sports bar. There were interesting menu items such as sweet potato tots, Irish nachos, and the mac and cheese. Overall, it was a good dining experience. We needed a place to rest our weary feet and get out of the heat. Our waitress was one of the highlights of the experience. She was quick to serve us, and very friendly and warm engaging in conversation and accommodating. The price might have been a little high. But, you don't go to downtown Charleston if you are looking for Mcdonalds. We left with about a $40 bill for both of us before tip. But I must say, most restaurants and bars will cost about the same in Charleston. I recommend Macs for the casual diner.

Love that they have a $2 beer of the month. They also have many TVs and are very willing to change the channel to whichever sporting event you want to watch. Service is friendly as well. Make sure you check out the front table with all the confiscated fake IDs. Some of the Texas ones were laughable.

  • Tim M.

This could be a pretty cool place, if it weren't for the service. I just politely offered to help the bartender find a football game and she actually threatened to punch me in the face. Seriously, what the fuck? Also, two bartenders for a 35 foot bar on a Saturday night during college football season.... Talk about slow service. Gave a second star because the service last night was reasonable, with a different staff.

  • Richard W.

Big 10 fans seem to be welcome at this Chicago style bar, an average sports bar with great decorations. The drink menu is pretty good. The atmosphere is better than the service and the food isn't anything to write home about. The price point is a little high for the experience.

We dropped in with our small kids on a Sunday afternoon for a quick lunch on our way out of town. Downtown Charleston is a cornucopia of gastronomic delights, but is woefully ill-equipped to cater to our small people in that there are tons of fine dining and bars around, but not too many non-chain places appropriate for the preschool set. Mac's doesn't have any high chairs or booster seats, and since it is primarily a bar, that is understandable. Because we are parents of the year, we took our babies into the bar because it didn't look like there was a wait for a table. Ann, our server, offered up the couch and table area in the front, and it suited our needs well. The food was a notch above typical pub grub, and will most likely help prevent or cure a hangover by lining your belly with some grease. The most exciting menu item was a Macaroni and Cheese Sandwich, which I'm told was a college invention of the owner of Mac's. I agree with the menu, it was exactly how it sounds. It was glorious comfort food, and I enjoyed every bite of its carb-laden, cheesy goodness. Sweet Potato Tots and Honey Butter also standout in what was previously a pretty quiet art gallery on East Bay Street.

The BF and I stopped here for a late lunch/snack after walking the parks, rainbow row, etc. We just sat at a bar table and the girl who served us was cute and friendly. They have a nice beer selection but were out of a few of the go-tos. We ended up each ordering a Chimay and splitting a cheeseburger and fries. The food was fine - kind of typical bar food. Nothing to complain about.

My husband and I stopped in to find a decent beer selection and tvs to watch some football New Years Day. We liked it a lot. The bartender Ann and the other bartender ( don't know his name) were super nice. Didn't eat but the food looked pretty good. Great local bar atmosphere.

Beer & food were good sadly waitress @ bar serving me was more interested in chatting with friends vice checking if you needed another beef and I sat at the bar so as to not have to worry about a waitresses.

I've been here a few times, and I like it less and less every time. The high point is obviously the insane number of TVs. From almost any vantage point in the bar, you're looking at at least two HDTVs, and it's usually more like five. That said, every time I come here now, the service gets worse and worse. The place was way understaffed. It's got a huge bar and a lot of tables, and they probably had 3 to 4 bartenders on and 2 waitresses for the whole place. We found a table, and the only time we saw a waitress in 30 minutes is when she came to clean the table. We ended up just taking a spot on the couches and ordering anything we needed from the bar. The drinks were OK, and the food was average. It has all the trappings of an Irish place: the beers, the obligatory shepherd's pie on the menu, the decorations. That said, aside from that, it's basically downtown Charleston's very own Applebee's. I mean, it's not trying to be fancy, but it's not even as Irish as Tommy Condon's. This place could use some more staff like no one's business. I told a bartender about broken rocks glass on the floor, and it was still there when we left 45 minutes later. It actually had a newly broken beer bottle on top of it by the time we left. The place definitely has potential, but right now it's not really a good spot.

Being from Chicago, I'm a bit biased towards this place... but the ONLY place to watch a Big 10 or da Bears in Charleston. Bartenders have some Chicago 'tude, but that's a nice change of speed :)

We stopped in for some drinks and appetizer while hanging out in downtown Charleston. They have a wide selection of beer, including Labatt Blue ( hey I am from Buffalo and miss Canadian beer). The server was great, accommodating requests to put a soccer game on the TV and overall friendly. My boyfriend got a chicken finger wrap and thought it was the best one he had since we moved down south and I had the pepper jack stuffed pretzels with marinara, soo good.

Our group of 4 adults came here for lunch during a quick trip to Charleston. We were planning on buying tickets for a harbor tour and then getting lunch, but when we learned that the last tour of the day was at 1:30 we went straight to the harbor. So, by 3:30pm we were starving. Mac's was the first place we found that was open (most restaurants were closed from 2pm-5pm, between lunch and dinner). The service was extremely slow. Our basic order of water and sodas took forever to come out. Though we originally thought about ordering a few beers later, our server came back so infrequently that we were glad we did not. Our original attempted food order was: mac and cheese bites for appetizer, southern cuban sandwich, fish and chips, and two fish wraps. The waitress came back after a while and said they "were all out of fish." This seems like a terrible thing to happen to any restaurant, let alone a restaurant in any coastal city. We changed our order to: two southern cubans, a mac and cheese sandwich and some sort of chicken sandwich. The appetizer was delivered promptly and was alright. The other sandwiches took about 45 minutes to come out, and even then we we told that the kitchen had gotten confused and threw away one of the cubans when we changed our order since they were out of fish. Our friend's replacement sandwich took another 20-30 minutes to come out. After we were all done eating we had to wait yet again to get our bill. And the entire the time the place was no where near "busy" -- there were only a few people at the bar and maybe one or two tables other than ours. All of the wait and lack of fish may have been worth it if the food was amazing, but sadly it was marginal at best. The meat was dry and the toast for the sandwiches was not good. I do not recommend anyone go here. I am very sad that this was the only meal that I had time to catch while I was going through Charleston.

We ducked in here because it was so hot and humid outside. The A/C was up high and felt great. It's basically a bar with food service. There were booths along the side and we had lunch. We were with 2 small kids and they handled us without any issue. It was decent pub grub with burgers, chicken fingers/sandwiches, mac and cheese sandwich, some salads, etc. They had a pretty good selection of commercial beers. They even had Red Stripe which is great on a hot summer day. There were plenty of TVs around with all kinds of sports on them. Our waiter was great and the service fast. There was an area up front that looked like it was setup of bands at night. Overall, this was a decent rest stop to get a beer and a burger and not spend a lot of money or time. Great job!

  • Heather S.

It was hot as hell (triple digits with 90% humidity) and we stumbled upon Mac's where the AC was on full blast, the selection of drinks was great, the drinks were cold and they were showing a good selection of sports (I was on a couch watching Women's World cup). Good place to beat the heat.

  • Ron N.

On a whim, we stopped in for a beer and really enjoyed the atmosphere of Mac's. Sat at the bar....very good selection of beers, and the service was solid. The only reason I didn't give this place was because the smoking area for patrons was right out the front door, which were open and all the secondary smoke was permeating the bar. After one beer, we got up and went to another place.

cool place... watched the brewers beat the diamondbacks here and had some Firefly vodka with lemonade... if u haven't had it.. definitely try it cuz u can't taste any alcohol but gave me a buzz after 1 drink... well i had a few beers before it but damn its some good stuff ... the atmosphere is chill with video games and a couple dart boards... and tv's a plenty

My favorite bar in Charleston. If you are a Chicago Bears fan this is definitely the place to go and watch the games and if you just want to see any other NFL game I still recommend Mac's. The place was packed and I felt the service was still quick and good for as busy as it was. The food was excellent and the environment was a lot of fun. We brought our two young children (6 & 5) with us and I had no problems having them there and they loved their kids meals. The bar staff was very accommodating to other patrons that wanted to see a different NFL game and found a tv near their table to put it on. The bar has a ton of big flat screen TVs. The couple that own Mac's where very friendly and were walking around making sure the customers were being taken care of and thanking them for coming in. The bar is located in the heart of the market and at half time my wife was able to take the kids for a walk and go check out some of the shops in the area. I will definitely be back to Mac's.

Ok Place would be a better name. The food is good but isn't what draws me there. I usually go when I'm downtown and I need a quick spot to watch some sports. I'll start looking for somewhere else, though, since they quit splitting shots. They say their bartenders aren't good enough to split shots and over pour. I think it's a shame to get in the way of a great South Carolina tradition.

Great pub! They have pretty decent food as well as many tv to watch the games. The greatest thing is they never have a cover charge! Atmosphere is typical Irish pub. Good eats. Good drinks. Entertainment and hard workers.

This place is always hoppin' after Riverdogs ball games. Great atmosphere with solid food and drink choices. They also have live bands come in to play. Be sure to get there somewhat early if you want to find a spot to sit and eat on Thursdays.

BEAR DOWN I'm a huge Chicago Bears fan and live in Charlotte so it was amazingly refreshing to be able to watch the Bears beat the Niners on MNF while surrounded by Bears fans. I don't have this ability in Charlotte so it was quite a change of pace! Alcohol is very reasonably priced, food is very good, good service. Everything I would need from a bar. It's a shame i'm 3 hours away every Sunday!

While visiting Charleston over the weekend, my girlfriends decided to stop by for a bite to eat. Definitely glad we did! One of my friends is a huge Chicago Bears fan, which was our main reason for choosing Macs. The bar definitely had an Irish feel, with Bears memorabilia all over. Tap handles hung from the ceiling, and there is an awesome Grand Marnier tree by the front door. The bartenders were quick & courteous. We attempted to wash down our hangovers with Stone IPAs & Holy City Mud Pluff Porter while waiting on our food. We choice to split appetizers, so tht we would have variety. We started with the fried Mac & cheese bites. Crispy on the outside, stuffed with super gooey Gouda. Absolutely delicous! We also enjoyed the Irish Nachos, Pepperjack Stuffed Pretzels & Sweet Potato tots. The tots were out of this world- served with a honey like butter, these are better than dessert! Reasonable price, great food & atmopshere. Planning to swing back through the next time we are in town!

Stumbled upon this pub while walking from the market to the waterfront park on Sunday. We passed it and ended up coming back after looking at a few other restaurant menus. Plus the World Cup game was on. When we returned their was a hostess (we think) sitting at the stand. She said nothing at all to us. So after about 30 seconds we headed inside. Not sure what her purpose was but I am pretty sure she was failing at it! They have self seating. A bartender originally began serving us then a server took over. The bar was full but only a few tables were occupied. I was impressed with their menu considering it is a Pub. There were a lot of healthy choices and options for many items. I ordered a chicken sandwich. All burgers and chicken sandwiches had an option of a regular bun or a wheat bun, cheese choice, could add a wing sauce, and another topping. They also had a variety of options for sides. I prefer wheat buns so I was very happy about that options. I ordered the side salad for my side. It was a nice size. It had blue cheese crumbles, bacon, cucumber, tomato, and onion on it. The sandwich and salad were quite tasty. I also tasted the sweet potato tots and they were good as well.

Great for watching the game (Mexico vs Netherlands). A large bar and grill with looked to be 20 TVs. We drank Guinness, Murphy's, and Harp on draft. Not really hungry but we snacked on cheese and bacon covered fries. Average bar food, nothing special. Our server (I believe her name was Meg) did act like she was not happy to be working that day. Not much friendliness from her. Otherwise this was your average Bar and Grill (or Pub and Grub!)

Do yourself a favor and stay away. Service is abysmal at best. Chicago sports bar and I HAD TO ASK TO HAVE THEM TURN THE BLACKHAWKS GAME ON. our server could have care less that we were here. Really sad! I have 5, read that 5 kids that work in food service and I understand the pressures that they work under, but this place could care less. Take your hard earned money someplace else. This place could give a ......

Food was fine but it was so freaking loud. It was a Wednesday afternoon and I couldn't hear myself think. It was ridiculous

We had an awesome time at Mac's Place a few nights ago. We had a large group - had dinner, drinks and watch the women's soccer game. The environment is authentic - simple and good food. The restaurant delivers what is promises - pub and grub! The staff is service oriented, professional and pleasant. In spite of some challenges with a water main break in the area, the Mac's Place team made it a seamless experience for its patrons. Highly recommend this place for a group gathering!

Great place! Went at a perfect time. No one was there and service was great. We ordered the fried Mac and cheese and ended up ordering another batch because they were so yummy!!! My kids both loved their meals and my husband had fish and chips and he said they were good, but not the best.

No cover charge. #nailed it. I came here with a bunch of my local friends because I knew these fellas would have a bottle of Malort behind the bar for my friends to try. After all, its a "Chicago" bar, and the Malort was flowing as expected. I'll say that the bartenders are attentive, friendly and happy to help. The food menu is quite large, so it offers a bit of everything for everybody- healthy(ish) choices, and some rather indulgent foods such as the infamous mac n cheese bites. I'll say that the food is good enough, but don't come in here expecting to be wow'd. If you're in town for a few drinks, a small bite and just looking for a more lively place to hang for a bit, then this is a good place for you.

Not a bad place...stopped in here to grab a brew on the way to another spot. Cool bar-had a slew of games to play, the bartenders were super nice and attentive, and the Chicago memorabilia was a plus! If you are looking for a sweet spot to watch a game (especially if you are a Chicago fan of any kind) or hang out at a game type bar, hit it up! da Bears!

Mac's was a great experience for me. We had sent to the city market and weren't sure where to eat. We decided to find one of our friends office and when we did we kept walking down the street. We heard some great 90's rock playing on the radio and saw the menu which had a plethora of options. I got a buffalo chicken wrap with homemade chips and an ice cold(fantastic!) Pluff Mudd Porter. The wrap was delicious; the chicken was fresh and crispy while the buffalo sauce was just right and a hint of ranch every now and then was great. The homemade chips were on par and the malt vinegar on them was even better. My girlfriend got soup and a sandwich and said that both were fantastic. The soup was fresh and the club she got was great. All in all we had a great lunch for a not so bad price. I will be going back and hopefully quite often! P.S. if you are a fan of Chicago athletics you will fit in perfectly!

Great pub atmosphere and a solid place to watch sports. They have tons of TV's including small ones above the urinals in the mens room. I can't attest to the ladies because I don't want to be arrested but, maybe someone can fill us in. They have that genuine pub feel and the beer flows ice cold. They literally have the taps that completely freeze over with ice so you know its good. I also love that little freezer set into the wall behind the bar for cold shots. Can I have that in my house please? The food is also a step up compared to your standard pub fare which is an added bonus. the owner is from Chicago so they are a Bears bar in Football season. I myself am a Pat's fan but, I won't hold that against them.

Typical bar food which was ok. Did not know it was a Chicago bar for sporting events. Picked the wrong time to go as it was hard to talk with all the cheering for a cubs game a true sports bar for the Chicago fans

Horribly rude service and vague beer menu. No prices on the alcohol and a substantial lack of knowledge of what 'domestic' beers are. It's embarrassing on their part, for sure. Also, if you want to use the happy hour drink prices, make sure you only order the crappy beers that frequent the frat houses on a college campus. It's all the HH is good for.

For the 2014 U.S. vs Ghana World Cup match I hit up Mac's with my mom, dad and girlfriend. With plenty of TVs and a pub atmosphere it appeared to be a great watering hole for soccer. Wrong, the menu is unclear, no prices listed for beers, and the happy hour is so ambiguous and limited that the waitress didn't even know which beers were included and considered domestics. The worst part was the service. Our waitress was rude and the least charming server in the south.

Yoooooo...I love this place! I can't believe we've never dropped in - Sunday Funday was packed with Bears fans but no one minded us asking for one Giants TV - rowdy and fun atmosphere. The service was awesome, and the food was great! I will most definitely be back! I had a blast!

I only had drinks here but it is a fun bar with lots of games. Nice sitting area in the front as well.

The atmosphere was great but our service was horrible. We would have stayed and watched the rest of the game but we couldn't get our server to attend to us.

We really enjoyed the food and atmosphere. My group had the pulled pork sandwich, French dip sandwich, and turkey Rachel along with the regular nachos. All were quite good for sports bar food. Did I mention they have "sweet potato tots?" Strongly encourage checking Mac's place out!

Friends stopped by while we were in Charleston. Seemed like your typical sports bar with pub grub - the type of place where you can't really tell if it's a chain or trying to be one. The Good: * There was a $2 IPA special on a Saturday night - that was awesome!! * Service was great for a big group - there was a spill and the cleanup was prompt. The Bad: * Empty for a big place during dinner time on a Saturday night. Something about the atmosphere was just lacking. Sort of like the decorations came from a "pub/sports bar" package. * The food. We were really disappointed by just about everything we ordered that wasn't alcohol. All of us had either run the Charleston half marathon or a 5K that morning, so we were in the mood for unhealthy pub grub. The nachos were mediocre at best - they didn't have nearly enough cheese or toppings, so we ended up eating half a plate of plain tortilla chips. And the fried mac n cheese balls were hot and greasy without any flavor. Gets the three stars instead of the two because of the great drink specials - especially for the steep prices all over this part of Charleston.

Good atmosphere, seems like a cool place. We came for lunch and stuck around for some afternoon beers. Great beer selection. Had the fish a chips. Legit meal, real good cuts of fish. Would come back again. Good service as well.

I like Mac's. It's not amazing by any standards, but every time I go it's damn good. Sweet potato tater tots. Need I say more?? Well, okay then - Good beer. I love sweet potato fries, and there's something about the "tot" variation that takes it to the next level, and good beer always improves my view of a place. Service has been slow a couple of the times I have been, but it's never been bad. The bartenders and waitresses are always really nice. They have a killer $10 burger and a pint deal on Wednesday nights. They play some decent indie tunes, but I'd rather have some Irish punk and drinking songs blasting through the room. That's just me though.

This place had a weak sound system that sounded awful. The Raspberry Martini was terrible and served in a water glass. I don't know what the recipe was and the waitstaff couldn't tell me..."some kind of raspberry flavored stuff." The dogfish beer was Ok. I think this is a college drunk place and not really interested in any type of quality. Guess if your goal is tap beer, this is the place for you. Too many better places within walking distance to go here again.

Irish nachos, a pitcher of beer and your favorite basketball game on any flat screen you want. It's pretty great, for lunch or at 1am. If you're not counting calories (or looking for a great way to cheat your diet), get the Irish Nachos which are fresh potato chips smothered in everything you would ever want in nachos. They use real ground beef (not the taco kind) and chicken. Absolutely delicious. This is a great bar for sports, and hanging out as they have great booths, couches and games. My only complaint is leaving the front door open when it's pretty much freezing outside. We had to leave 10 minutes before our game ended because it was so cold after sitting there 2 hours in the afternoon :( They also make us feel at home since apparently it's an IU alum who owns the bar (my alma mater), and supports all the Chicago-area/midwest teams.
