Eating my way through Charleston - Part 5 Only a couple minutes after leaving Juanita Greenburg's Nacho Royale we came across Jeni's Ice Cream and once again... the temptation was too strong to pass up. Jeni's Ice Cream was created by James Beard Foundation Award Winner Jeni Bauer and the company is all about fresh... "We build our ice creams from the ground up with milk from grass-grazed cows and whole ingredients that we blend, bake, peel, chop, skin, pulverize, and blowtorch ourselves. We use no flavorings, chemical dyes, or off-the-shelf ice cream mixes. We cut no corners, we take no shortcuts." Jeni's serves up unique flavors like Sweet Corn and Black Raspberry, Goat Cheese with Red Cherries, and Wildberry Lavender, all created using Fair-Trade-Certified vanilla, cocoa, and bean-to-bar chocolate, herbs, Ohio wildflower honey, whole fruits, and vegetables from local farms and farms throughout the world. Jeni's does fresh so well that they make Ben & Jerry's look like a Wal-Mart store brand. I got the Pineapple Upside Down Cake with Buttermilk Frozen Yogurt and it was by far the best ice cream I have ever had. The pineapple frozen yogurt, with roasted red cherries and golden Pineapple Lady Cake soaked in Salty Caramel Sauce came across as smooth, incredibly fresh, mouthwatering delicious, and all for only $5 :)

Jeni's was good. But it was missing the small-business factor I love so much. I didn't realize it was a chain until I googled it, so it lost a little bit of the magic. Regardless, the ice cream was really yummy. I recommend the browned butter praline - delicious. I wish I had just gotten a big bowl of that! So overall, it was really good. Not exceptional on the atmosphere and experience side. I'd go again if I were in a place with no local options and could see this being really successful in a grocery store setting.

Jeni's is great Ice cream I think they are in the top three in ice cream/gelato along with Freddo and Belgian Gelato. They have great flavors like the salty caramel and wild berry lavender but I come for the Intelligentsia black cat espresso flavor. It's amazing.
(4)Stella M.
$5 scoops for what would be considered a kid's scoop at most other ice scream establishments, but you do get some damn good ice cream and some unique flavored. Also, no matter how busy they are, don't make you feel bad about sampling several flavors.
(3)Clare L.
It's definitely high quality ice cream, but I have to admit that I wasn't a fan of the selection of flavors they had on the day I was there. There wasn't a single flavor with chocolate, but since it was so hot out, I would have eaten anything at that point. I had the Brown Butter Almond Brittle and the Vanilla Bean in a cone and both were refreshing and good - definitely lighter than your typical ice cream. I thought the price was a little high but I get that part of that is because of the quality of the product. I would come back to try the Wildberry Lavender and the Mango Frozen Yogurt. This may go down as the best ice cream I've eaten because of the fact that we ran into Craig from Southern Charm on our way out the door. I'm embarrassing. But in all serious, Jeni's has some good ice cream.
(4)Lisa S.
Incredible flavored - good variety of chocolatey ice creams and fruity flavors. All flavors have a unique tasteful twist. Staff is incredibly friendly as well! The cute little waffle cone piece is a nice touch as well!

Ok... Seriously... Let's get our heads out of our vaginas, and just admit to ourselves that this shit is just ice cream. Is it good? Yes. Is it an amazingly, life altering, mama from heaven, type of ass fattening glory? No... No it is not. It's just ice cream. It happens to be located on upper King St.: which is currently Mecca for the über-self-righteous-hipper-than-you crowd. I paid $12 for two single scoop cones today. That is $6 for 3 ounces of ice cream perched atop a sugar cone, that Seems a bit pricy and overblown to me. The hip crowd is super impressed with this place because, perhaps, they've never bought Ben and Jerry's. Save yourselves the ultra-luxe exorbitant price tag, and just head over to the Harris Teeter on East Bay St. for a pint: You'll thank me in the end!

Really beautiful place- bright, clean and inviting. I had the dark chocolate and salted peanut butter with chocolate flecks flavors and they both were rich and delicious without being cloyingly sweet. My boyfriend got the root beer flavor and I must admit, it was 10x better than both of the flavors I had! It was very creamy but tasted exactly like root beer, but again, not overly sugary. So glad we stopped in!

Jeni, I love you. You don't know me, I don't know you, but I love you because you make ice cream that moves me, mind, body, and soul. Now that I've gotten that out of the way, this Jeni's location is charming and the staff is awesome. Service is knowledge and just really down to earth. You're welcome to try as many flavors as you like. The lime cardamom yogurt I sampled was new to me but very good. It was aromatic, floral, and tropical. Very refreshing. My scooper offered me a free waffle piece and salty caramel sauce which I couldn't turn down. The caramel sauce was really buttery, viscous, and salted just enough. I had it over two scoops: brown butter almond brittle and 7 layer bar. The 7 layer bar is a good choice for those with a "more is more" approach to ice cream: chocolate, coconut, condensed milk, etc. it's decadent with hints of nostalgia: this is an ice cream I would have gone crazy for as a kid. Jeni's is worth the walk up king street. In fact, it was one of my preplanned stops in Charleston. Jeni, won't you come to Savannah next so I can stop having this long distance affair with you?

I LOVE coming here. First of all, they were open fairly late Sunday night when I came - a pleasant surprise! The line was out the door, but it moves pretty quickly unless you get behind one of those people who tries every flavor. Honestly though, you can't even be mad because you will also be that person! They have so many awesome choices - its impossible to choose! I went with a scoop of the brioche and a scoop of the browned butter - both were fantastic! The brioche had black current in it (my favorite) and the browned butter was delicious! The staff seemed a little tired (but, of course, who wouldn't be after a super busy day of ice cream scooping) but they were more than pleasant otherwise. A lot of people choose to eat outside, so there was plenty of seating. Definitely not enough if everyone had stayed indoors though! The restaurant was very clean (and always smells of waffle cones. Yum!). I love coming here and will DEFINITELY be back for one of those amazing-looking ice cream sandwiches. Oatmeal pie? Yes please.
(5)Courtney D.
Delicious ice cream. Ended up with dark chocolate and it did not disappoint. All of the ice creams truly looked delicious so it was hard to decide. Thankfully you can sample before making that decision!
(5)TJ L.
Oh Jeni. Your restaurant has captivated me. Your delicious exotic flavors, and your home made whipped cream have me following my sweet tooth and keying my sense of adventure. Go ahead, walk in, I challenge you to ignore your nose at that point. There's honestly not much more I can say that others haven't...But to measure the quality and flavor of this place, consider this. I'm usually a "multi-flavor" guy but their "plantation-owned", imported vanilla bean is easily the best vanilla ice cream I've ever tasted. I get this almost every time. It actually makes me want to yell "Utah! Gimme two!" (Gary Busey style)
(5)Sean P.
I've heard that Jeni's is a fantastic ice cream place. Those stories were ABSOLUTELY correct. This is a clean, trendy looking spot, with very friendly staff. Biggest dilemma was trying to figure out which flavors to pick! I got the wild berry lavender and dark chocolate. But after sampling most, you really can't go wrong with any flavor.
(5)Tyler L.
Pretty freaking awesome. My only complaint is that they are missing some traditional flavors to go all-natural. Like who doesn't carry any sort of chocolate or coffee based ice cream? It was still delicious, but maybe going a little more traditional wouldn't hurt.
(4)Aaron S.
Awesome ice cream. Some of the best I have ever had really. I sampled like 10 flavors, and there were a few that we just too funky for me. The almond brittle one is phenomenal and I would get it again. I especially like the grass fed milk. As natural as possible always tastes better.
(5)Marqus R.
With customer lines extending all the way out in the street and with a near perfect Yelp Five Star rating I knew it had to be good and good it was. Even good enough for me to add my Five Stars to it though I darn near felt compelled to only go four because of the slow lines. But since the lines are long because the ice cream and other treats are so good and slow because the selection is so dazzling I can hardly deduct on those counts. The choices here are almost mind boggling in not only having flavors you know of or have heard of before but also those which are unique, unusual or totally exotic like that of combination with a Riesling or a Saison. Better yet, the offerings are seasonal and change regularly so there is little chance you'll ever become bored with the same thing.
(5)Dee B.
Jeni's is a brand I had heard about for a number of years, and was excited to finally try while visiting Charleston. This is amazing ice cream. It is very rich, so even for me - a true ice cream-aholic, I don't know that I could have eaten more than the two scoops I ordered. My only qualm was that I wish the goat cheese & cherry flavor would have had slightly more cherries in it! Oh, and the world's best chocolate - seriously is the the world's best chocolate. Definitely worth a visit if you are in Charleston!!
(5)Jess D.
Go Jeni's! It's sherbet day! I can't say enough great things about Jeni's! Downtown was in desperate need for a great ice cream shop. Jeni's has unique flavors, high-quality ingredients and the cutest storefront. It's a great place to hang out and take a break. Lines can be long on weekend nights, so be prepared. It's that good. Prices are also great: $5 for 2 scoops of any flavor. You also have unlimited tasting, so you can take your time to get the best flavors. Menu Highlights: - Goat Cheese and Cranberry - Cantaloupe Sherbet - Brambleberry Crisp (tastes like cobbler) - Salted Caramel (one of their most popular flavors) - Buckeye something (peanut butter and chocolate!)
(5)Marina C.
Jeni's is actually quite the quirky place. It's not the BEST ice cream I've ever had, but there are several things that make it a 4-star experience. The service is warm, the employees are fun and energetic and like to talk to you. The ice cream flavors are unique. Sorry, but sometimes I want Sweet Corn Ice Cream, and most scoop shops don't carry that. If you want a place that's part of a great up and coming part of Charleston that will add some variety to your after-dinner treat, I would definitely recommend Jeni's.
(4)Aleks K.
Is this as good as it gets? Yes. Are the flavors original and outstanding? Yes. Is the customer service on point? Yes. Does the decor leave an impression? Yes. My only reservation is that this for me will be a special occasion place. For the price, you are getting the quality you pay for. Yet at the same time, $7 is a lot for two small, weighed out scoops on a cone. Regardless, if you're a local or an out of towner, it's worth a visit.
(5)Jasmine A.
I found this place because I saw Sydney G. from queenofthefoodage.yelp.c… go there. Once I did, I was out the door and on my way to Jeni's! Jeni's is a small chain of ice cream shops that has made it's way down to Charleston. I am so glad it did! They use fresh, and local ingredients to make crazy unique flavors. The staff is very friendly and you can try as many flavors as you like! They are also very helpful if you need help pairing flavors together. I recently had the bramble berry crisp and the salty caramel in a waffle cone. So yummerz! The bramble berry is like a berry crumble made into ice cream, and you can really taste the saltiness in the salty caramel. Not enough to where it's too salty, but enough so that it has a nice bite to it. This place gets busy fast so the seating tends to be limited. Weekdays are the best time to try Jeni's because once the weekend hits, the line is out the door! The flavors are so unique, fresh, and always changing that I can definitely justify the price. The only problem I had was on another occasion I ordered the ice cream sundae. It was served in a metal bowl, hot fudge on the bottom, 3 small scoops of ice cream, then toppings on top. It was probably a combination of me ordering too many toppings, the hot fudge on the bottom and the size of the ice cream but, it was basically an ice cream puddle. Also, the ice cream flavors by themselves have so much going on with them already, by muddling them with all the toppings I chose ruined such a great product. That being said, I probably won't order a sundae again, but I really do love this ice cream and will be back to try more! Overall: 1.Jeni's is a great place to try very unique ice cream flavors with fresh ingredients. 2. Spend your money on a waffle cone or bowl and not the sundae. 3. Try try try! Ask for recommendations . 4. This place is a splurge, and the scoops are a little smaller than average but, I think it's worth it for quality, gourmet ice cream.

Let's start with how I crave ice cream... All. The. Time. My dear husband decided to surprise me on our latest trip to charleston with a stop at Jeni's. I can tell you that it most certainly won't be our last visit there. First off, I couldn't decide between wild berry lavender and darkest chocolate. Upon informing the associate of my dilemma, she asked, "would you like two half scoops?" My. GOD. Crisis averted. The wild berry lavender was light and refreshing and the darkest chocolate was the best I've ever had. They were both smooth and creamy and made for a delicious combo. I can't wait until our next return to try out the other flavors!
(5)Sydney G.
I AM OBSESSED WITH JENI'S. Is it expensive? Yes. Is it worth it? YES. Just walk by and tell me your nose doesn't agree with me. My fave flavors: milkiest chocolate, salted caramel, dark chocolate, black coffee, brambleberry crisp, brown butter almond brittle, buckeye state, goat cheese with red cherries. Also, all of the other flavors.
(5)Andrew K.
Good ice cream. I guess the artisan ice cream scene is cool, but frankly, would have rather spent $13 on 2 16 Handles than this.
(3)Todd J.
Great flavors and it wasn't busy during a Sunday at noon, so we tried a lot of them. The wild berry lavender was the winner of the day with sweet, tart, and a light floral finish. In the evening it will be busy!
(5)Amanda B.
I can't even say enough amazing things about this place! I first fell in love with Jeni's in my hometown when I purchased a pint at a local grocer. The quality and taste of the ice cream is outstanding, so I was more than ecstatic to find a shop while visiting Charleston! I love that they allow you to taste any amount of flavors. Yes, it can cause some congestion on busy nights, but very worth it for people who don't know what they want. There are so many unique flavors, so I hope they continue allowing samples. Not only is the ice cream delicious, but they handmade their waffle cones right in the store. They are so good! I got the Salty Caramel and The Buckeye State, but tasted other flavors as well and there wasn't one bad one. This is definitely a place I recommend everyone to visit!
(5)Heather M.
I love Jeni's..I've lost track of the number of times I've been here but I adore the ice cream..I totally forgive them for the listeria scare.. I feel like eating some of these flavors is like eating a memory..so many interesting tastes combined to perfection with such great quality ingredients. I'm a little upset about the missing flavors right now but I'll be patient!!
(5)K M.
Was good ice-cream. Nice place to just relax, chill and have a conversation over ice-cream. Clean and nice ambiance. Recommended.
(5)Les M.
Visited jenis last night for the first time after they reopened. I was not impressed. Before they closed mysteriously for a bit of time the flavors they offered were delicious. Last night was the same 3 flavors (salty caramel, almond brittle and chocolate) and things you can get at any ice cream shop downtown. The scoops got smaller and they seem to be charging more for less. I am really disappointed because I loved this place. I don't know if they recently reopened their doors but if this is just because they are making a come back. They should have waited. No Jeni's flair was here last night. Poor showing for them.
(2)Andrew R.
This is perhaps the best ice cream from an ice cream shop anywhere. I have yet to find something better. The magic must be in the cream cheese. While priced a little higher than some other gourmet ice cream, and definitely not worth the price for the kid size, the small gets you two scoops. How you will ever choose is beyond me. Luckily, they will let you sample to your heart's content before you order. A particularly good combination: the goat cheese with cherries and the spicy thai coconut peanut one. Just the right hint of spiciness with the luxurious taste of both coconuts and peanuts. Switch to the goat cheese, which does indeed taste like a good goat cheese, and you won't get tired of the flavors. A small is still a lot of ice cream, so share with a friend. Then try your hand at making your own by getting her book or searching online.

This review may be just piling on, but Jeni's has some great ice cream. The wife and I stopped in over the 4th of July weekend to sample a few flavors. We passed by it a few times before going in and there always seems to be a line out the door, especially in the middle of the day but also late at night, as they are open until 11pm. I decided to get 3 flavors of ice cream, while the wife chose some sorbet. They encouraged us to try some samples so that we could figure out what we wanted. No one seemed put out by giving as many samples as anyone desired. I am sure that there is a limit at which they would cut you off though. I went with black coffee, sweet cream with rum molasses & peanuts, and saison with sunflower seeds & golden flax. Those last 2 flavors are a mouthful in of themselves. And yes that last favor has saison beer in it, which may sound strange but completely delicious. I really liked all 3 of the flavors that I chose. The wife tried a few sorbets but decided to get 2 scoops of the reisling poached pear based on it being the best for her palate. It was very light and tasted basically like pear puree, again delicious. The staff and the service was great and everybody was upbeat, which is pretty amazing considering that they are scooping ice cream all day. The prices for Jeni's premium ice cream does come at a premium, but invariably you have to pay for quality. I guess if you want a gallon of ice cream for $5-6, then Jeni's may not be the place for you. Don't get greedy but remember that they do give samples......

So.... we don't have Jeni's in Seattle, even though I know it has spread like wildfire out from the beginnings in Ohio and through the rest of the midwest and east coast. But I've browsed through the cookbook and heard plenty about Jeni Britton Bauer over the past few years. Did I also mention I'm not a big fan of ice cream? So when my friends (who I was visiting Charleston with last weekend on a foodie crawl trip) practically convulsed on the sidewalk in sheer pleasure after realizing that we were right next to a Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams shop, I really didn't have much of an opinion. I didn't even order a cone. I did, however, try licks of their ice cream and it was pretty good. Salted caramel + Milk Chocolate. My husband and daughter would have been swooning. And just out of pure curiosity, I tried a sample of the "Milk Chocolate Bombay #3". Since I was just in Bombay in late December. It was also pretty darn good-- concentrated milk chocolate ice cream, toasted coconut, and La Boite's Bombay #3 sweet/ mild curry blend (clove, turmeric, fenugreek and other spices). I could tell ingredients were good quality and things were tasty. Pretty delicious. If I liked ice cream. Which I don't.

Love it! I was in Charleston for a weekend and I came here twice. It's not that we hadn't had Jeni's ice cream before but their ice cream is always good. I had Riesling Poached Pear Sorbet & Wildberry Lavender on both days. Lavendar was light yet still flavorful, and poached pear is refreshing but also sweet and juicy. And I'll order those again.
(5)Kevin J.
Sorry I did not think this place was Splendid. 1) It was hot as hell in there. Where is the AC? 2) Long line (not sure why) 3) I generally did not like the ice cream 4) It was expensive. Over $6 for 3 medium sized scoops seems kind of high. I am glad other people have had a better experience here.
(2)Tracy G.
Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams is splendiferous! First, I just want to say it's nice to finally get some ice cream action amidst all the self serve fro-yo places that popped up in the past 3 years. Fro-yo is good, but it just doesn't compare with a well crafted ice cream. Jeni's has super friendly staff and udderly (see what I did there) delicious ice cream. I tried samples of several but finally settled on a scoop of Buckeye- peanut butter with dark chocolate flakes, and a scoop of Salted Caramel in a cake cone. My boyfriend went with a scoop of the Coffee with Cream and Sugar- it tastes exactly as it sounds, and a scoop of the Sweet Cream with Rum -which is a molasses, peanut, rum, mouth extravaganza. I have to give Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams props for not only making fantastic ice cream but also for making flavors that compliment each other so well!
(5)Shirley V.
Everywhere we travel, we always try the icecream and Jeni's is by far the BEST icecream we have ever had, it was so good we made 3 trips there during our stay even right before we hit the road. I'm the a coffee drinker but devoured the coffee flavored one, it was perfection! Can't wait to go back :)
(5)Marjorie M.
How amazing is Jeni's? Amazing enough that my friends and I went there one night for an after-dinner snack and then couldn't stop ranting and raving over it that we came back the next day for an after-brunch snack! There was a line when we stopped by, but you will end up appreciating the line because it gives you time to look at its huge menu of ice cream options. I must have changed my order 3 times in my head, but luckily the employees were very patient and helpful. Jessica who worked there was awesome. She offered samples of everything even when I was too shy to ask. I had a handful of sample spoons and she did not make me feel ashamed! She described each ice cream combination in detail to the point where all you could do was sigh and nod your head. Ultimately, it made me want to eat every single ice cream combo there which is good for Jeni's... NOT good for me! After numerous tastebud tingling samples, I finally went with the Goat Cheese with Red Cherries, Salty Caramel, and Sweet Potato with Torched Marshmallows. All of them blew my mind. I didn't even care if the combination of all of them in one cup worked or not. The Sweet Potato with Torched Marshmallows was my favorite and I don't even usually love sweet potato in that way. The very next day we came back being it was our last day in Charleston and we were unsure if there was one in Baltimore, MD. Jessica was working again (awkward lol) and welcomed us. I had my last taste of my beloved Sweet Potato Icecream and hoped it would not be the last time. My next trip to Charleston, this will be a must have stop not just for the ice cream alone, but for the experience. So many options, so little time! Oh and the smell of their baked waffle cones that they make in-store! Until then, I found my local Whole Foods sells some Jeni's ice creams and you can also order online!!!
(5)Krystle B.
I had wildberry lavender and darkest chocolate and WOW. I was pleasantly surprised from the amazing flavor, great service, and hip decor. Ice cream is even served the a wedge of a waffle cone. I can't wait to go back!
(5)Amy L.
I absolutely think Jeni's ice cream stands above any other ice cream- not just in quality but also in terms of sheer unique and creative flavors. I haven't found anything comprable, and I'm an ice cream fanatic. Everything I've tried has been awesome and they have flavors to suit ANY palate!!! My favorites have been their peach jam and biscuit and pineapple upside down cake. They often come out with new flavors to try in addition to the wide array they offer and have sherbets too. Plus the customer service is awesome, they let you try multiple flavors to help you choose which you want. My only regret is how much you have to pay for such a small portion. I understand how expensive their ingredients are, and that you do in fact get quality for what you pay for but it does really make it hard to go more than once in a blue moon for a treat! Definitely worth stopping in and trying, but would be hard to be a regular!
(4)Everett B.
Creamiest ice cream I've ever had, and with more weird and wonderful flavors than you'll ever have time to try (though you can request as many tastings of as many flavors that you want, even if their I've cream sandwiches). Also, homemade waffle cones for $1 that are so good my friend will order 1 without ice cream. The girl behind the counter was amazing at pairing a 2nd flavor to compliment the one you wanted. I had goat cheese with cherries paired with dark chocolate. Sounds weird, tastes amazing. Can't wait to go back and try some more strangeness.
(5)Allie E.
Jeni's has earned every bit of its top notch reputation! Amazing, unmatched ice cream flavors in a really cute shop:) try the salted caramel and the goat cheese with cherries! Oh man it's good!
(5)Jessica S.
When it comes to ice cream, I'm willing to pay for the good stuff. This is it. This place is amazing. Just do it. You can't go wrong with any of it. Bonus tip: Get the bitter hot fudge and the hand whipped cream. So worth it. Also, I'm pretty sure you get more ice cream if you order a waffle cone instead of in a bowl :)
(5)Greg G.
Just get the almond butter and you will die happy! You can't go wrong! It's so good, I had to track down a place in Chicago that sells Jeni's icecream and now I always have some in my freezer! Their flavors are sound weird and look weird, but you taste them and its like BAM! amazingness right in your face!!!
(5)Bem H.
This is ice cream done to perfection. Jeni's has everything you want in an ice cream shop. Their flavors range from salty caramel to sweet potato and toasted marshmellow to goat cheese with red cherries. And if you're undecided they will allow you to sample any flavor until you're decided. Everything I tasted was original and delicious! The staff is super friendly and informative. Fyi- Jeni's ships their ice cream and you can go online and enter your zip code on their website to see if their products are sold at stores nearby.
(5)ashley g.
I had been waiting patiently for the weather to warm up to give Jeni's a try and I finally did this weekend. So good! I can't believe I waited so long. The place does get pretty busy, but the staff is quick and helpful, they are ready with several sample spoons in hand for each customer. The line was pretty long so I went ahead and just asked the server the most popular flavors and 2 of which were dark chocolate and salted caramel, so I went with those in a small 2 scoop cup! DELISH! they complimented each other very well, as the server indicated they would! They have a bunch of pints behind the counter for take home purchases as well!
(5)Alice G.
I can't think of enough positive adjectives to describe this ice cream!!! Creamy, smooth, flavorful, rich and worth of every calorie are the first five that come to mind. I had the mint flavor and it went perfectly with their "supper bitter chocolate fudge", the layers if super sweet mint ice cream under the bitter fudge were a mind blowing flavor explosion!!!! Do yourself a favor: go to Jenis at least one in your lifetime!!!!
(5)Carly K.
Not only do they have unique ice cream flavors here, they have an awesome employees ^___^
(5)Frank G.
Holy cow, where's the ice cream. Great taste, many flavors, nice place, nice people,,, but for $5.00 for a small, you should get more than a thimble full. There are many other places that give much more for under $5.00... And it can be Gelato or Belgium ice cream. If they want to stay alive, they must give more for the price., oh sure, you can say it could have been the server, but, not acceptable..they should have been trained properly. Get it together. You have a great product. Frank G
(2)Cole S.
You have to try the brown butter almond brittle ice cream. It is NUTS!! Service was very friendly and they allowed you to try a bunch of the flavors before you order. Perfect on a sunny, hot Charleston day!
(4)Catie G.
This was definitely some of the best ice cream I've ever had. I had the brown butter almond brittle with extra bitter hot fudge. The hot fudge made it for me. So delicious!
(5)Christy M.
I like this shop! Great flavors and they were willing to let you try anything, super helpful and friendly! I wish they were a little more generous with servings or lower a little on price and it would be 5 stars for sure!
(4)Mary T.
This is my favorite ice cream eatery anywhere! Great and unique flavors, super courteous and knowledgable staff, and you can sample as much as you want! Great vibes all around.
(5)Liz W.
I was really impressed by the variety of interesting and tasty flavors on offer here! The selection is so good, it's difficult to choose...fortunately the staff here is super friendly and willing to offer lots of free samples. I won't disclose how many I ended up trying...but I eventually settled on one of their seasonal sorbets (Reisling and Poached Pear), and had the Browned Butter Almond Crisp for my second scoop. It was a great combo, but I was also tempted by the Brambleberry Crisp and the Milkiest Chocolate. Honestly, they are a little pricey, but they are on par with almost every other gourmet ice cream parlor I can think of, including places back home. I guess when you are comparing them to places like Dairy Queen, it does seem like a lot, but there's a huge difference in taste, quality, and obviously the experience. I would definitely stop here again the next time I'm in Charleston.
(4)Kristin B.
Great ice cream. The line was long but the servers are great at moving the line. Sweet cream was so good. My husband got a sundae and he loves it. We wish we would have gone back before we left town.
(5)Kristin P.
This is a great shop with not your run of the mill ice cream flavors. The only reason I'm giving this place 4 stars is because of the pricing. We purchased two small cones, two pints, & a small amount of dry ice to take the pints home. Extra kudos for selling dry ice but our bill came out to $37.40- yikes! The small cone is a standard wafer cone with two golf ball sized scoops on top. Yes, it's smaller than what most people would expect but the ice cream is rather rich! The employees let us (& all other customers) sample whatever we wanted! Which was fantastic because they had so many different flavors! Goat cheese & cherry, cantaloupe sun tea, butter mint, lemon blueberry... Etc. I'm not usually a cantaloupe fan but the cantaloupe suntea was my favorite! I'd recommend going in & trying what they have. It's an experience and their flavors are unique and delicious!

I had seen Jeni's on Food Network/Food TV before... I worked at the Fresh Market where we sold Jeni's but never tried. Driving to dinner in Charleston I was SO excited to see there was a Jeni's. Goat cheese with cherries... yes heaven does exist. Creamy, tangy, sweet amazing.. 2nd was pineapple upside down cake.. too sweet for my taste and the goat cheese with cherries just beat its butt in flavor. The ice cream was so good on the day we arrived home I went to the fresh market and bought a pint of the goat cheese with cherries... worth the cost and was gone in a few days. It would be dangerous to live near a Jeni's!

Best ice cream I've ever had, hands down. You get a small portion but the product is quality. It was very smooth and creamy. I got a scoop of raspberry and sweet cream. After tasting the dark chocolate ice cream it was probably the darkest I've tasted. Very good, definitely worth the dollars.
(5)Jonah P.
Best ice cream in America? Yup. From the classics to the creative, flavors and textures are divine. AND if you're lucky enough (as I am), you can find their ice cream in the freezer section of select grocery stores in the south and mid-atlantic regions.
(5)Kevin R.
OMG! I had a food-gasm right at the counter. Such a great staff. Tons to sample. I finally narrowed it down to 3 flavors. I totally love the Salted Caramel. It took over an hour of eating slowly. Fun atmosphere on King Street right in the middle of everything. I'll totally be there again when I return to Charleston! Yummo!
(5)Katherine R.
My order: 3 scoop sundae: 1. Sweet cream with rum molasses and peanuts, 2. wild berry lavender, 3. goat cheese with roasted cherries. Topped with extra bitter-hot fudge, salty graham gravel crunch, a cherry, hand-whipped cream, smoked almonds, sprinkles, and a waffle wedge
(5)Marsha L.
Great ice creams. Love the variety. Cute decor. Friendly helpful staff. Highly recommend.
(4)Alicia Z.
Ummm WOW!! Just try to walk passed this place with the amazing smells pouring out, if you can do it without the need to walk in and have one of everything, you are a better women then I. All 5 senses will go crazy here!! First of all, they will give you a sample to try any flavors you may be interested in. Their flavors are very unique, but it adds to the character of the place. The ice-cream sandwiches are out of this world!!! It's big enough to share, but after one bite any hand that comes near your ice-cream sandwich... Well let's just say might not have all it's fingers afterward. The only reason the 4 stars--it's a bit pricey. The taste and quality are worth the price, it just couldn't be a nightly treat for us at those prices, but for a special occasion, or when people are in town, or say a Tuesday, I'll dig a little deeper into the pocket book!! :)
(4)John P.
Great ice cream. Unlimited samples. Interesting flavors! Air conditioned on a hot day in Charleston.
(5)Jennifer B.
Don't get me wrong, the ice cream is delicious, but I think the long line could be managed better. Ice cream is a little on the pricey side, but you are getting home made, high quality ice cream. Because it's new, everyone wants to try out all the unique flavors. I'm just not sure how I feel about people holding up the line by sampling all 20 of their flavors, and then still pondering what ice cream they really want. It's not an act of Congress, it's just ice cream. Where's your sense of adventure? Perhaps when lines are long, a 2 sample max would remedy the situation. We are looking forward to visiting again in Nov/Dec, when there are less tourists and hopefully the lines are shorter.
(3)Stephanie I.
Thrilled to have been able to try Jenis. My friend raved about this place and I can see why. The service is friendly and they were more than willing to let us taste anything. The ice cream is amazing. Seriously. So many unique flavors made with quality ingredients and it shows! They even had little cooler bags of we wanted to take some pints took to go which we did. This was the perfect afternoon snack after a long day of shopping and sight seeing!
(5)Grace C.
Really really good homemade ice cream with great ingredients. I had a taste of the pineapple upside down frozen yogurt and the salted caramel. Settled on the salted caramel. They have different sizes but the small was two scoops and I already know I can't do that with my lactose issues. So I asked if I could get one scoop and the really nice guy told me I could get a kids cone. It's $5 for the small and it's not on the menu but the kids was $4 plus tax. You can get a homemade waffle cone for an extra $1 if you want. They have a variety of interesting flavors in regular ice cream, frozen yogurt and sorbet so there are options. They also do shakes and have ice cream sandwiches.
(5)Nataliya M.
This is definitely the best ice cream ive ever tried! Have gone several times. We went last night and the line was out the door and down the street yet the very friendly staffed worked the line so quickly and effectively that it didnt take long before we were enjoying our yummy treat. My favorite is the goat cheese/cherry and the coffee. The goat cheese cherry actually turned me off at first but at the advice of a friend I tried and fell in love at first taste :) its like a delicious cheesecake but better.
(5)Lori H.
Best ice cream ever. Transplanted from Columbus, you are so lucky to have it here! So many cool flavors... I had salty caramel and butter brittle... Expensive, but worth it.
(5)Jim D.
Like I said when I wrote a check-in for this place, I don't know which ice cream/gelato I enjoyed more Jeni's in Charleston or Il Laboratorio del Gelato in NYC! Jeni's has wonderful and diverse flavors. I had the goat cheese with red cherries coupled with the Rich dark chocolate. My whole family enjoyed the wide variety of flavors they offered. And unlike Il Laboratorio they don't limit you to just two tasting samples. Please check out their menu of flavors. They also have frozen yogurt and ice cream sandwiches. Wow! When we visit Charleston, this is a must for us! Ice Cream!!!!!!!!!!
(5)Kelly B.
Gourmet ice cream flavors with stellar staff. I highly recommend the Cherry with Goat Cheese flavor and any of the seasonal flavors are a must try! The wait is well worth it! So glad to have these guys here in Charleston :)
(5)Hanna H.
Go. Go. And just go. Doesn't matter if it's a Saturday night (FYI long lines) or 9am in the morning, just go. The ice cream flavors are absolutely tremendous. And not only is Jeni's ice cream done to pure perfection, but every one of the employees is willing to help. They handed out sample after sample. At one point, I asked to try the Buckeye State and was given two spoons for sampling. After looking up with some confusion, the woman said, "in my experience I love to pair the Buckeye with the brown butter almond brittle." Just a super friendly staff. So go in and don't hesitate with deciding on the samples, becauase everything is delicious and you can't go wrong with any order.
(5)Nicole R.
I've had Jeni's yummy ice cream from the supermarket in the past but haven't made it into a store until this trip! So happy for the find. Got to sample a lot! Went with goat cheese cherry and dark chocolate askinose with hot fudge. Delicious!! It was very hard to decide between all of the goodness.
(5)Jordan D.
Great ice cream. Cool atmosphere and friendly staff. You can try as many flavors as you like. A little pricey but worth it for the quality of ice cream. If you're into good treats that are organic and made from happy cow milk then this is the place for you.
(4)John F.
WOW! Just go here. Eat. Enjoy. I think they could improve the tremendously long line but separating out the people who want to sample 15 flavors before picking one to order. If you know what you want you have to wait forever.
(4)Cory K.
Some of best ice cream I've had in a while. The almond brittle one was ridiculously good. Great touch having a slice of fresh waffle cone in the cup.
(5)Jennie S.
The cherry goat cheese is phenomenal! I was expecting a tiny serving based upon other reviews on here but I was pleased with the size of my two scoops for it being a small. I can justify the price for how good this ice cream is. I'll be back again. And the staff was friendly like other reviews mentioned.
(5)Roger Y.
Loved the Pineapple Upside Down Cake ice cream!
(5)Vy D.
Cute ice cream shop with a great mix of class and unique flavors. The staff is all very friendly too. My favorite flavor is their coffee with a taste that is stronger than the ordinary coffee ice cream.
(5)RACHNA P.
I went to the opening of Jeni's and then once after that with my husband. Considering I'm an ice-cream lover, this really is the BEST ice-cream I have ever had. I just recently moved to Charleston, this is definitely one of the highlights of Charleston. They had great unusual flavors, which are not unusual tasting at all. They are PERFECT!!! You can taste all the flavors in each flavor of ice-cream. All their different flavors work so well with each other. Hmmm....it's just so yummy!!!! My husband is not a huge ice-cream fan but even he loved it. We tried many different flavors and they were ALL good. My favorite for the summer is the pineapple upside down cake frozen yogurt.
(5)Alexandra R.
Bliss. This ice cream is creative creamy and delicious (and expensive!). Loses one star for price and long lines, but we'll be back often. Order with the salty crumble topping.
(4)Tiffany L.
After dinner at Fleet's Landing, we walked the 1.2 miles to try this place out after a fellow classmate had recounted her satisfying encounter during class that day. The walk was a bit rough on a particularly hot and sticky August night. There was a line out the door upon arrival but the smell of freshly made waffle cones and occasional gust of cool air from inside the store kept us curious. I tried three flavors for taste-- the wildberry lavender was okay, reisling pear was SUPER sweet, but omg the black coffee... My eyes lit up, I was sold. I'm a big coffee ice cream fan and will usually try it at most new places. This one is probably top 3. I complimented it with a scoop of their Dark Chocolate ice cream. The two together were absolutely divine. I would recommend this place to anyone visiting Charleston!
(5)Katrina W.
This place is super good and very interesting! All of the ice cream is homemade and they have a wide array of flavors...from simple chocolate to Queen City Cayanne (which I tried and it was so strange to eat spicy ice cream!). I ultimately ordered a small dish with The Buckeye State and Seven Layer Bar, both of which were very good. My husband got toasted brioche with some sort of fruit jam and brambleberry crisp and they were very tasty as well. We were only in town for a weekend and had planned to go back for another try but didn't make it. :( Next time we visit, we will definitely go back!!
(5)Joe T.
A place that serves really good ice cream with an eclectic selection of flavors. The staff is really friendly. A nice place on King street to relax away from the heat with something cool and sweat tasting.
(4)Billy W.
This is a world class ice cream organization. I don't remember their artsy flavor names, but I tried flavors w/ dominant ingredients such as pumpkin, egg nog, goat cheese, coffee, etc. You can tell that Jeni here is something special, like a flower in the desert or a refrigerated tuna fish sandwich. The staff here was very bubbly and friendly whilst shoveling out free samples. It doesn't get much better than Jeni's in terms of a modern take on Earth's #1 most important resource
(5)Tanya S.
Go go go to Jenis if you can. Wonderfully friendly service and a beautiful store. All of the ice cream is made with the highest quality ingredients with delicious flavors like Whiskey Pecan and Goat cheese Red cherry. They have "gravel" which is this delicious crunchy stuff they put on...anything you want. I had a Brown Butter and Almond Brittle sundae topped with honey butterscotch, gravel and...hand whipped cream, no fake can stuff here. Super yummy! My hunny had Pistachio Honey and the same Almond deliciousness that I had. My little girl had...the same Almond deliciousness lol. But the nice ladies took their time with us and let us taste each and every flavor. Definitely stop in, you will not be disappointed.
(5)Mark E.
Great, amazing flavors, creative, something for everyone. No, not cheap, but props for service, style, and innovation.
(4)Jerrica L.
Call us greedy but it was delicious!!! Homemade waffle cone, wildberry lavender, brambleberry crisp and brown butter almond bitter... !! Liz had the best recommendations ! I didn't feel rushed even though there was a line out the door! Awesome customer service! Best night cap for the week! Already looking forward to the next visit! The goat cheese and red cherries samples was delicious too!! Enjoy
(5)Mike M.
This place ranks as one of the top ice cream places we've ever been. We walked in with our 5 kids and instead of being overwhelmed like some places get, they had samples ready and waiting as we approached the counter. They must have given us at least 10 samples as we made our selections - all while being super friendly. As for the ice cream itself, it's amazing. The blend of flavors, the richness - fantastic. This will be our first stop whenever we return to Charleston.
(5)Samantha M.
Jeni's Ice Cream is truly one of a kind! The organic and locally sourced (from Ohio, where it's produced) ingredients make the flavors bold, fresh, and inviting. I fell in love with Jeni's in Columbus, OH. To date, I have had many different flavors. If you can't stand the thought of anything but chocolate and vanilla or the overly sweet creations you find at many other places, Jeni's isn't for you. However, if you're looking for new and exciting flavors that really please the palate, stop in! I haven't had a bad flavor. Even the Yazoo Sue with beer, nuts, rosemary, and other assorted spices tastes amazing! Yes, folks, spicy ice cream! They're all amazing! The prices are high, however, the ice cream is truly a treat that should be enjoyed!
(5)Marybeth B.
Omg I'm in heaven! I loved the frozen yogurt choices ( there were two). A little on the soft side, but excellent tart flavors. The staff people were very friendly. Don't miss!!
(5)George M.
Wonderful ice cream. Great service. Look no further than this charming little joint if you're in the area and want a good desert option.
(5)Kay K.
The line was a tad long, but that's because they allow customers to sample before purchasing, which makes sense to me. I def appreciate being able to do that. Perhaps they could delegate different lines for taste-testing and those who are ready to place their order? Anyways, I had the brambleberry crisp and the sweet cream biscuits with peach jam, which was my fav! It was delightfully unexpected and so.dang.good!
(5)Adam K.
There is nothing one can say. Jeni's is the best ice cream in Charleston. Don't bother anywhere else. Some flavors, such as the darkest chocolate option and the salty caramel, are absolutely extraterrestrial. The best deal for sharing is surely the sundaes, a nice combo of warm, cold and crunch from the sauces, ice creams, and crushed cookies respectively. Unbelievably good.
(5)Gail K.
Wonderful. I loved the goat cheese with cherries. They are generous with samples, so it makes it easier to choose. Don't miss this place if you love ice cream.
(5)Lindsey L.
We LOVE this place! Every time we have been there is a huge line but staff is patient, kind, and informative of what's in the ice cream, how it's made, etc. You can taste test however many you'd like. The flavors offered are unlike other ice cream shops we are familiar with....the flavors are weird but creamy and nice. The downfall is that is it somewhat pricey, the parking is awful (but that's most of Charleston), and there is usually a line. Oh well, we will be back!
(5)Sam C.
Really weird flavors...... Really expensive ice cream...... Should have went to mc Donald's and got a dollar cone. I should have known when I saw goat cheese flavored ice cream this wasn't the place for me. But if goat cheese ice cream sounds good to you then your probably weird. Oh and for some reason the line is 3 miles long.
(2)Rebecca D.
They let you try everything!!! It was a magical journey for my tastebuds. The staff were having fun and it showed. I tried so many flavors(bramble berry crisp, a spicy chocolate to name a couple). I ended up getting the coffee with cream and sugar and the bramble berry. I LOVE coffee ice cream. This is one of the best I have ever had!! I crave them all the time since I've been. I'll be back!
(5)Lisa G.
I had this on my list of "must visits" during my trip to Charleston and I am so glad we did. So good!! We walked around the city, had lunch, and walked some more. When we decided to go, we had 1 1/2 miles from where we were - worth the walk and burned some calories. We sampled ~10 flavors between the three of us. My favorite hands-down was the brown butter almond brittle. Creamy, rich, buttery with crunchy pieces of brittle. It may be one if the best ice creams I've ever had. And, with 3 kids and a sweet tooth, I've tried quite a few. We went at 3pm on a Tuesday and there was no wait and open tables. Although, it would be worth the wait, even better when you can take your time and sample to pick your favorite.
(5)Sydney T.
Jeni's ice cream is hands down the best ice cream in Charleston. It's a little more pricey than some of the others, but 100% worth it. Everything is made in-house and the flavors are phenomenal!
(5)Tamara C.
The best ice cream I've ever had!!!!! The staff was so sweet and happy to hand us many samples My daughter is dairy free and gluten free so she was thrilled with the organic pear sorbet with toasted almonds, delicious I had the goat cheese and fresh cherry, sounds strange, but... Taste buds were doing a little jig If I could give 10 stars, I would Best, best, best
(5)Angela M.
We liked it. We shared "coffee with cream and sugar" in a waffle cone after sampling - and rejecting - both a pumpkin flavor and a sweet potato casserole flavor. A little bit expensive, but we appreciated the variety of unique flavors, the ability to sample, and the super creamy delicious ice cream. We wished we had both got our own instead of sharing.
(4)Kathy K.
9 pm, Tuesday night, hot, humid, drizzly rain...and then we found Jeni's! My only negative on the place is that it is too small! The staff is amazingly friendly and helpful. We sampled to our heart's desire! The portions are perfect and the prices are spot-on. The place was totally packed with lines out the door. Welcome to Charleston, Jeni's, we are obviously glad to have you!
(5)Dana E.
The ice cream was interesting and high quality, but I'm not anxious to go back. My two companions ordered cups of ice cream - I hot a hot fudge sundae. It took so long to make that they were done with their ice cream before I even received my order. Then, it was just too strong - the hot fudge was too overpowering for my taste. We spent something like $19 on 3 items. It seems they have enough fans for now to make a solid run.... But I'm anxious to see if goat cheese ice cream is here for the long haul. I guess that's why there is more than one flavor of ice cream in life!
(3)Pres P.
Jeni's has taken all of my money and self control!!! This ice cream is as good as it gets! I am a huge fan of the Brown Butter Almond Brittle, Coffee, and Vanilla Bean. The employees at Jeni's are all top-notch and will let you sample everything until you have found the perfect flavor. They will even recommend complimentary flavors if you have found only one perfect flavor. Believe the hype! Jeni's is so delicious and I am so happy that she placed a shop here in Chuck.
(5)Susan P.
Pretty good ice cream. Love that its grass fed cow milk. The chocolate flavors had a weird after taste for me. I usually love chocolate, bit couldnt order it here. The scoops are also much smaller than I'd like for the price point.
(3)Liz H.
The ice cream here is not your average strawberry, chocolate, vanilla flavors. But don't be scared, everything is very good. We stopped in on Saturday night after dinner on a whim. There was a line out the door, so we knew something had to be worth waiting for. Between the four of us, I think we ended up with 9 different flavors. All amazing. I was drawn in by the seasonal "Ombre Brûlée" sign outside. When tasting it, the girl behind the counter told me it would have a smoky finish, which sounds really odd for ice cream... but it was delicious. I would definitely make a stop here if you are in Charleston - always leave a little room for ice cream. Maybe a lot for Jeni's unique flavors. Can't wait to go back and try something new!!
(5)Nancy L.
Outstanding home made ice creams!!! Probably the best I have ever tasted! The salty caramel is especially amazing!
(5)Amy J.
YOU MUST EAT THIS ICE CREAM. The flavors are one of a kind, and insanely delicious. The staff know a lot about the ice cream and are right on with describing the flavors. The line was constantly out the door. Located among many of the bars & restaurants.
(5)Rene T.
Delicious yet pricey, but definitely worth checking out if you're in Charleston. My husband and I ordered 2 'studies' which end up costing $16. My four flavors: Buckeye State, Backyard mint, The Milkiest chocolate in the world, and Salted Caramel. He got: Salted Caramel, Lavender, Dark Chocolate, and Coffee. Everything tasted exactly like it should, the mint was noteworthy in that it tasted like eating mint leaves but not as strong. I would've bought a to-go of Buckeye state (PB ice cream w/ chocolate) b/c it was so amazing, but there's no way it would've made it back to our hotel without melting. The line was very long but worth the wait. We each sampled 2-3 flavors, which seems to be the reason behind the line. Free samples of Oatmeal ice cream sandwiches were being handout out while we waited, which was a nice touch by Jeni's.
(4)James W.
The mix of flavors here is amazing! I probably tried 9 or 10, ultimately deciding to get the Saison Ice Cream and Salted Caramel on a homemade waffle cone. Such a great combination, and every employee really knew the flavors and different ones to try with eachother.
(5)Allie K.
Very flavorful. Various flavors. But Very pricey. I'd say stop somewhere else to satisfy your ice cream cravings..
(3)S W.
Amazing Ice cream!! Charleston is known for great food and Jeni's does not disappoint. My boyfriend dosent want me to write a good review because he wants to keep it all for himself. The flavor a are unique- "brown butter almond brittle", "goat cheese with red cherries". Awesome! Will be back again. Portions were appropriate, the flavors are rich and delish!
(5)Ellie B.
This place is fantastic! The staff is knowledgeable and didn't hesitate to let me try a way too many flavors even with a few people in line behind us. The ice cream is also fantastic-- super inventive and every flavor sounded as good as the next. Also- do yourself a favor and get a waffle cone.
(5)Michael T.
Wow! For the last 32 year's I've been under the impression that Toscanini's in Cambridge, Massachusetts was the best ice cream in the world. Jeni's is a strong contender for that title.
(5)Ward H.
Love the way they take different flavors and make some great combinations. Ice cream can now be more than just vanilla and chocolate. PLUS, ask for samples, they love to talk about them.
(5)Deb E.
Just excellent! I am a Jeni's fan having both of her cookbooks. When I saw one had opened in Charleston, we had to go. The best ice cream ever (and I make some myself that I think is pretty outstanding!). Wish we could have stopped more than once.
(5)Madison L.
Vegan, so I'm often stuck with average sorbets. Jeni's has a KILLER pear sorbet, and the cantaloupe & suntea sorbet was also really good. My (non-vegan) brother raved about the vanilla bean. Will go back on future trips to Charleston
(5)Chris P.
Most amazing ever! The flavors are so creative and unexpected. Most ice cream is based on just sweet and fruity ingredients, but I tried blends using caraway seed, cayenne, sunflower and flax seeds and other odd choices. I tried 5 or 6 flavors and ended up sharing 4 scoops between the two of us. This place has ruined all other ice cream places for me, I shall have no other.
(5)Delacey S.
The only other place I've had ice cream this good was the gelato in Italy. Creative flavors that are dense and rich. Definitely worth the wait and the price - you won't find anything like it at other ice cream shops. I had the askinosie dark milk chocolate and the buttermint with chocolate gravel on top. Amazing. Going back today for more.
(5)Sara L.
The blueberry lemon froyo and lavender ice cream are TO DIE FOR.
(5)Brandon P.
My wife and I were just walking down King Street when we ran into this place. We went in and they had some pretty unique flavors. After trying about 10, we each narrowed it down to two and had some of the best sundaes ever. The staff did a great job of making recommendations.
(5)Uday G.
Bangkok peanut with dark chocolate was amazing...spicy and sweet with a slow burn at the end. My wife had the wildberry lavender with salty caramel...she was hoping to recreate the flavor combo that she had at bi-rite creamery in san fran, but it just didn't quite hit the mark. The kids were happy with the buckeye and milkiest chocolate. Will definitely be back.
(4)Charlton G.
Shut the front door. Are you kidding me? Sweet potato and toasted marshmallow? Christmas in a cone. LIFE CHANGING.
(5)Danielle D.
Amazing. No corn syrup in anything! One of the first times I've been able to have hot fudge with my corn allergy. Not to mention that this tasted as good than the gelato I had in Italy, and with more exciting flavors! 3 types of dark chocolate? Sign me up. The prices aren't great, but you do get what you pay for. They've got gluten free options which is super nice as well. My fav was the seasonal chocolate peppermint and buckeye state. So good.
(5)Britt K.
brown butter brittle sundae was TDF (ta die 4). if you're tasting, people behind you can leap frog you and order. a bit unusual, although i get it because so many options to want to taste.
(5)Rachel R.
My husband and I visited Jeni's three times during our weekend trip to Charleston- yes, it was THAT good! Each ice cream that we tried was creamy and had a great flavor. Beware- the line can get long- but it is definitely worth the wait!!
(5)Scott W.
Had to stop after dinner at Fleet Landing. I went on a recommendation as was extremely happy I stopped. The line was out the door which seems to be normal based on the other reviews. The smell of fresh made waffle cones was heavenly. The are very eager to give samples of anything that you would like to try...within reason I am sure. I tried 3 different ones until I settled on a two scoop of brown butter almond brittle and buckeye state (peanut butter and dark chocolate) and topped it with chocolate blackout gravel (baked cocoa nuggets) - delicious!!!! The ice cream is made from very farm fresh ingredients, milk from grass fed cows, etc. They sure do it right, it's a must and really didn't take long to get through the line. Worth a little wait!
(5)Patrick O.
This place has become a frequent stop for me and my girlfriend. I never liked coffee ice cream before, but their coffee is like pure and clean tasting. This place is an adventure for your pallet and is worth the price (I'd pay double of they still had the same quality)
(5)Chloe G.
YUM! Loved the key lime pie flavor. The interior is just lovely and the workers are happy people. :)
(5)Janine B.
I love ice cream. It's one of my favorite things to eat. I can't help but feel happy while eating an ice cream cone. I seek it out every city we travel to and just can't get enough. My doctor just told me my blood work shows my sugar is slightly elevated, but that wasn't going to stop me from trying this new ice cream shop on King Street. YAY - something new on King that doesn't have a liquor license! Jeni's has delicious ice cream! Many unique and fun flavors to choose from that will keep me coming back to try them all. Though I sampled the more daring Bangkok Peanut and Sweet Cream with Rum Molasses & Peanuts, I played it safe with my first "trio" with Askinosie Dark Milk Chocolate, Ndali Estate Vanilla Bean, and Salty Caramel. All 3 were really creamy and flavorful. The Askinosie was my favorite, with little bits of chocolate in it. Unfortunately, it's just too pricey for the small portions. I've been to plenty of gourmet ice cream shops and I don't mind paying more for creative, well-made ice cream, but it's hard to enjoy when you get so little. Ice cream is more fun when served as a generous scoop, not these dainty scoops that they literally measure on a scale at the counter. Who wants to see a SCALE when being served ice cream?! Ice cream is also more fun as an inexpensive treat. The price will keep me from coming back more often than I'd like.
