The back bar area is great. Cool bar to catch your favorite game and enjoy the beautiful Charleston weather. Heaters in the winter and fans in the summer. The sand area is perfect for the beach style cornhole setup. You can spend hours on the ring toss game! Karaoke..karaoke is what karaoke is! You can catch some really amazing singers in here. Annnnnd well sometimes...not! :-) It's karaoke, it's fun for all. Watch out for the bumping and grinding on the dance floor! IBG is very dog friendly. Bring yours and let them run around out back. I'm sure they'll be another pup or two for them to play with.

As far as bars on James Island are concerned, JIB&G is one of the better ones, but that's not saying a ton. Best thing about JIB&G is it's cheap. It would definitely be considered a "dive" but it's a bit nicer than Recovery Room or the old Big John's. JIB&G has a nice outside area with a covered bar and TVs, and a large sand area with cornhole and a ping pong table. Inside is much better now since they dis-allowed smoking. Although I've been there for karaoke, which needs to go the way of smoking. I've never eaten there and honestly have no idea if they even have food. Definitely a go-to place when on James Island.

The place felt very cheap and very divey.. but not in a good way. As is typical with several places on James Island, the people were not very classy and the location was not very classy. I came out wishing I hadn't gone. If you're looking for a good place with similar atmosphere on James Island, there are much better options. Better yet, just go downtown. At least the places are cleaner and surely you can find somewhere with just as cheap of alcohol and have more fun.

I don't understand why people would go to a local bar and then get upset when they are surrounded by locals. IBG is a place where most people go at the end of the day who work food and bev to unwind and have some cocktails. I have never once seen a customer disrespected or treated poorly by the staff. The most problems that come from this place are from drunken tourists in PFG shirts being too loud and demanding to be treated like royalty because they feel they are special. Just enjoy your two dollar beer and watch the games on the flat screen without screaming loud enough to ruin everyone's evening and you won't have a problem. If you're respectable you will be treated well here. It surprised me to see this place getting a bad rap, as it is one of my favorite places in Charleston.

We were staying in Folly and didn't want to drive downtown and like to support the locals. Nice location and atmosphere, but for $10 apps and $20 entrees I suggest trying another venue. The good: anything fried was as expected and tasty, the shrimp and grits were good but odd with the addition of peppers The bad: coconut shrimp were just regular fried shrimp laying in coconut milk type sauce- no shredded coconut in sight as part of the coating, the crab cakes are a nice portion size and have plenty of crab meat but are mushy and lack seasoning.

This used to be a fun place to come and do karaoke but unless you're into hearing people scream lyrics to songs they barely know at the top of your lungs, I'd suggest waiting until there is an actual band in play. The guy in the booth seems to only like harsh rap music and takes beers from people to be pushed to the front of the line. I will say that the backyard is a really cool scene so that's the only reason I rate then half way.
