Great food. Service excellent. Wait staff was knowledgeable and made excellent recommendations - thanks Griffen. Beautiful place.

When I think Indaco I'm know Im ordering the BLACK PEPPER TAGLIATELLE (carbonara, pork tesa, egg yolk, chives, Pecorino Romano). This dish is perfect in its creamy richness and is impossible not to finish. If you are like me and wish Fettuccine Alfredo had a more delicious cousin, well here she is. His cousin Ms. Tagliatelle will put him to shame, hands down. They also have a delicious cocktail called the NEGRONI PARTICOLARE which is roasted beet infused Gin, Aperol, and sweet Vermouth. It's a sipper but Delicioso! Fun Fact: Indaco is Italian for Indigo.

I'm really torn on this review. The service was good, and the waiter was awesome. The food.... danger zone. Ok, the pros: They have valet parking in the back of the place. They have a nice outside seating area, and I like the wood feel of the place. I didn't notice a lot of noise, but perhaps that is because we were outside. The wine was excellent. The pizza that a friend ordered was tasty, and the olive appetizer (I love olives) was really good with the pita. The cons: My $24 entree. I ordered the CORNETTI. I was told that the pasta was homemade, and so I was excited to try it. The pasta was good... The bad, which is worth the major star reduction was that the squid TASTED LIKE AMMONIA. I barely ate but a few bites before I bit into one. It was HORRIBLE. I brought the leftovers home to try to figure out what was bad in the dish. Apparently, they served me a giant squid, known for storing ammonia in their muscles. Giant squid are indigestible for humans. Thanks chef. :( The problem I had is that I could SMELL the ammonia. NO chef should ever let that out of the kitchen.

I came here with an old friend right when they opened for the evening. The restaurant was empty and we didn't have a reservation so we got a seat at the chef's table. This is a late review so I can't remember what appetizer I ate but we split the brussel sprout pizza which was tasty and light, it was perfect to split but the apple slices and sprouts would sometimes awkwardly fall off the pizza. We finished the meal with the lemon bomboloni, a perfect dessert that came with a lemon dipping creme. Their cocktails were also very good. It was an expensive meal but worth the money. I think Indaco would be perfect for a date or get together with close friends. I would come here again.

Had dinner at Indaco for my birthday. Definitely make reservations. Even though we showed up on time, we still had to wait for a table. It was a busy evening so the place was packed. The seating arrangements are a little too close together. The server could barely fit between tables to serve food or drinks, and if they bent over they almost knock your table over. We ordered the Burrata for an appetizer, which came out AFTER the table next to us received their entrees, even though they were seated after us. We did not receive our entrees for a good 35 mins, and that was after waiting about 20 for the appetizer. Our waitress seemed in a hurry and not very worried about our experience. the food was delicious, worth the wait, but I would rather not wait so long. Will try again, maybe on a slower evening.

Indaco is now on permanent rotation for me. The atmosphere is on point, as is the service. Everyone who works there seems to have been vetted for charm and ridiculous good looks. Okay. All seem knowledgable, and as if they really enjoy working with and talking about the creative and delicious food Indaco delivers. Management was accommodating with a specific seat request as well. Try the pancetta pizza - ricotta on this pizza is amazing.

The happy hour specials ($10 pizza and discounted drinks) were a good deal, but everything else seem overpriced for what you got. And the real reason that I'm giving this place 3 stars is because of service. One of us got a diet coke. It was completely flat. We sent it back and asked for a different beverage instead. And the waitress charged us for both. That is unacceptable. Now anytime someone asks me about this place, that's the only story I can think of.

6 of us were in here to celebrate a birthday and were treated exceptionally well! The staff was super friendly and helpful and the manager stopped by twice to check on us. We actually got a complimentary pizza and a sample of 3 of their desserts because we were there celebrating. It seriously doesn't get any better than that no matter where you go! My only warning would be to get a full description of your drink before you order it. I ordered two and tried to have one fixed so it was drinkable, but just couldn't. I hate sending things back, but I just could not drink those. One was a a specialty drink (started with a T and had tequila in it) that was strong enough to put hair on your chest. The other one was a specialty draft beer that I believe was an IPA, which I hate, but the server didn't mention it was an IPA, just that it was a light beer.

Stopped in here for after dinner drinks. Staff was really friendly. My friends and I hung out at the bar enjoying some drinks. I had the grappa flight. I have had grappa before and was not a real fan but decided why not since I have not seen a flight of it offered anywhere before. The bar staff was real cool in picking the options for me and educating me a little about it. I did enjoy it and I would not mind coming here again just to hang out at the bar.

We had a great dinner with some friends while we were visiting CHS. I got the pizza that had sweet pickles on it and it was awesome. Definitely different. Overall, great atmosphere, great food and great friends. What more could you ask for.

Had dinner at Indaco on a wonderful Saturday evening along with my wife and 10 others. We chose to eat "Family Style". 5 courses of incredible authentic Italian. The staff is very attentive without being overdone. We will definitely be back!

The food was tasty, sure, but three bites of pasta (meatless) should not cost $22. Very disappointed in the small portions.

New...Executive Chef Michael Perez has made some fantastic improvements to the Indaco menu. It's been about 9 months since I've eaten here and it keeps getting better and better! The Addition of the Butcher Board was a long time coming, well worth the wait.

My friends and I ordered the Chef's "curated" family style meal with much excitement. We were told by our server it was, "the Chef's selection of the freshest and most exciting options of the day". After receiving margarita pizza, green salad, ravioli and roasted chicken then ending the meal with bitter lemon sorbet and "cannoli" that were just fried shells with unsweetened cocoa powder whipped cream I have to say I was really disappointed!!! It was a meal I could have gotten at a decent neighborhood Italian joint and saved $30 or $40 at the end of the day. The atmosphere and service was nice but with all the good food around I won't be spending my money there again. Sadly- just not worth it.

Took my mother on an overnight for her birthday to Charleston. Wandering around at 7pm on King st... Stopped in and was greeted by Trevor. After a quick peek at the menu we decided to dine. Food great, ambiance lovely, Trevor wonderful. As a Chef I always appreciate the back of the house, but for my mom it was all about Trevor! Raise worthy... Thanks for a great night...-Mama Ward and L. Rodriguez

First off -- our waitress. A blonde young lady, been in the city for years she said. They always talk about "southern hospitality" and " how nice they are in the south". I would disagree with this sentiment. She was more than "nice" and "southern hospitality" wouldnt do her justice. I'm a stickler for good service, and she over delivered. No request we had fazed her, our change in seating wasnt a problem, and she KNEW the menu. Whether thats training by the restaurant, or her innate personality, she MADE that evening at Indaco. We each ordered a different pasta dish that was AMAZING and the meat and cheese board was tasty and well presented. I will definitely be back and will definitely recommend to friends -- but my first "5 Star Review" is as much for the fantastic service as it is for the tasty food.

We recently visited Indaco early on a bustling Saturday night. If you haven't been, it's a long, shotgun restaurant with wood burning oven scents that welcomes you as soon as you enter. Indaco's wood and stainless lighting elements are simple enough for you to clearly see that the "food is the star". Quickly escorted to our table upon arrival, we began to peruse the 'Rustic' Italian menu. Our server quickly approached to take our beverage order and explain the menu. As she did so, a gentleman also stopped by. He said that he was the manager and he pointed out the wine list to us. He said he was part of the team that helped to put the list together and if we had any questions he would be happy to help. Nice touch. The menu offers affordable prices and although easy to read (5 sections - Piatti, large plates, Antipasti, Pizza, Pasta and Contorni, sides), the selections seemed so interesting that it was hard to decide what to order. We started with the Castelvetrano Olives, a must try for olive fans and 24-month aged American Iberico Prosciutto, which, in the end could have been fought over had we not ordered two. We also tried the Wood-Roasted Squid Salad. This was my selection and it was served with arugula, pickled peppers, potatoes, olives, capers aioli, chickpeas and radicchio. It was exceptional! The last in the line of appetizers were the Pumpkin Blossoms. For those of you (like myself), who may not be familiar with what a pumpkin blossom is, it's a delicacy made with the flowers of a pumpkin plant. These were delicately wrapped and served with baccala (salt cod, by-the-by), pickled peppers, lemon and aioli. Here's a bit of a fun fact regarding Indaco's Pumpkin Blossoms. This was Indaco's James Beard Foundation Local Dish Challenge Entree. If you take a picture and upload it to Instagram with #charlestonSC and #jbftasteamerica it may help Charleston win $10,000 for Feed the Need. The entrees we ordered were as delicious as the appetizers. My husband and I ordered the two specials of the evening. Their ingredients demonstrate the creative offerings that Chef Robert Berry can come up with. Special #1 was Porchetta - Pork shoulder slow roasted for three hours and served medium with tomato braised runner beans, topped with Castlovetrano olives and calaibrian chilies. The pork was fork tender and won wave reviews. Special #2 was The Casonce - pasta filled with mousolini (sic) of quail, foegras, chanterel mushrooms then sauteed with parmesan and butter topped with chanterels. Butter soft pasta pillows graced my bowl. The flavor was out of this world. Although I downplayed them a bit so I wouldn't have to share them, a few still got away from me. If this dish is an option during your visit, I'd highly recommend you indulge yourself and order this treat. At first glance, the "pasta" section of the menu seems simple enough, but each dish is an exquisite assembly of ingredients. The Camera D'Aria - Shrimp, scallop, blue crab and green onion were rolled and resembled sushi. The Eggplant Lasagnette was served with a quick tomato sauce, capers, ricotta, mozzarella and parmesan. Both were as beautiful as they were tasty. Our friends ordered 2 of the pizza choices. I remember our friends said, "If it's too much, we can take it home to the kids." Enter the Cerigonola Olives Pizza - with mozzarella, Calabrian chili (#hot) and basil; and the Pork Sausage Pizza - with braised mustard greens, farm egg and pecorino. The thin, crispy crust with just enough toppings was a fan favorite. Taking "them home to the kids"..... not so much. As the server was picking up the last of the dishes our friend was not going to give up the few slices left... Indaco is one of those restaurants that you hate to say too many good things about for fear that it will become to difficult to get a reservation in the future. Never the less, you should add this to your list of Charleston restaurants to try.

The food at this place transported me back to Italy. It didn't stop there. They have an extensive wine list in addition my favorite Italian beer--Peroni.

I went out to dinner with a group of friends and they turned us away because of our appearance. I had to leave a review so left one star but I really give this place no stars and I will never go back. They are fake Italians only had Mexicans in their.

I've been here 5 times, each time a little worse. This past Monday, not very busy, service was so slow. Had to ask for bread. Could not make a cocktail because it came in a keg. Weird, how about make it from scratch? Can't. Boo. My Vegan friend, who suggested we go, learned they did away with their sides. How stupid is that? She ordered what was then called a vegan plate, came with a soft boiled egg on top. OOPS! Took it back, she had to wait forever!!! for a sorry looking plate of some veggies. Sad! They did not charge but what a bad experience. My salad was nice but could you maybe tear the lettuce into some smaller pieces? It's in a bowl, not too easy to cut things in a bowl... They were off to a great start, but slow, disinterested service, lackluster food and very expensive prices means this place is off my list.

Would like to give it 3.5 stars, but....I'll give it the extra half star for the super-nice management and waiters. This is not a final review, however after several visits, both my dining partner and myself find ourselves underwhelmed by the food and impressed by the staff. Over-the-top friendliness from the managers and wait staff, with helpful flourishes throughout the meal. We've both had pasta dishes, as well as salads there, and pizza as well. We find the pasta dishes quite good, with quality ingredients. The dining partner finds most of the dishes over-flavored, as in a bit too intense with a heavy touch on many elements (dressing, cheese, etc). I felt the same about a pizza with fiery hot Calabrian chile peppers. But, hey its on the menu, and otherwise the pizza was great. I also found the serving size of one of the pasta dishes (casonsei) quite small for the $26 entree charge (no sides, no bread, perhaps 8 oz of cooked pasta and a sparse sprinkling of chanterelle mushrooms). Deserts of which we've tried several a're good; beer selection so-so (doesn't seem to change for months at a time), and good wine selection. We have mixed feelings about the place--Right now I'd go back for the pizza and some of the salads, but the pasta seems to be a work in progress IMO.

Homemade pasta!!! Enough said this place is amazing. Everything we ordered was so great it was hard to pick a favorite. And a manager came by to ask us how everything was and sent out dessert on the house for both me and my moms birthdays. Highly recommended!

Let's see, how much could we possibly charge for bread and noddles? First, let's print a menu in Italian so it looks chic. Second, let's hire some table attendants (aka waiters) to hustle the tourists (sorry Charlestonians you too). Then let's make up some story about sharing dishes like Italians, but unlike Italy, flip that table asap. Finally just to make sure nobody realizes the poor quality, dump lots and lots of salt on it. Plus that sells the pricey wine.

This is my go-to "TREAT. YO. SELF" restaurant. It's the kind of place you want to stay for hours and order course after course just to try something new. One big fat star goes to their subtle placement of sound absorbing panels all over the walls and ceiling. This makes it possible to have a conversation while surrounded by a full house of people on their 3rd glass of wine. (Unlike tasty Basil down the street. I can't even hear myself think in there on a busy night.) SERVICE: Excellent. I always see the manager (?) out and about and he goes out of his way to greet each table and make you feel like part of the family. I've had a couple different servers, but my favorite is Molly. She knows her stuff, is timely and consistently handles all my weirdo friends and family with a sense of humor and kindness. APPETIZERS: If you love potatoes, cheese and fried things (and who doesn't), go for the potato crochettes. They're just the right crispy texture with a not-too-heavy creamed potato/cheese filling. SALADS: The winter greens salad is one of my favorites, as it is a light mix of roots and greens that you don't often see on the menu. It was perfectly dressed and just the right amount for two of us to share before our main courses. PIZZA: For a simple classic, the Margherita delivers. The flavor of the crust carries the pizza, so that you get texture and taste as a foundation for whatever goodness you like on top. I've also had the Pork Tesa, which, if you love bacon (do I even need to ask?) you'll love this pizza. Centered with an egg, this would be a Ron Swanson favorite. PASTA: Pappardelle. The noodles are so light and melt-in-your-mouth. The pork sugo has a slightly sweet taste which I attribute to some herb I couldn't place. It's lovely. DESSERT: Get the something-something Budino. It's a salted carmel pudding sort of affair with this delicious little chocolate cookie that has just the right balance of flaky, salty and sweet. I love this place a lot. Oh and there's a valet parking lot behind the building which makes life easier. I would definitely make reservations if you dine at normal-people hours during the rush. They're often packed!

Great staff and terrific food. The pastas are all outstanding as is the burrata. Love the loft vibe of the room. It's noisy in a downtown NY kind of way. There is also complimentary parking behind the restaurant. One of the best if not the best Italian restaurants in Charleston.

Cute italian bistro with pizza, small plates and pasta. Friendly service and easy to get in and out on a Wednesday night. We had the bibb lettuce salad with a buttermilk & anchovy dressing and the mushroom bolognese buccatini (hollow spaghetti) that was excellent. Handmade pasta was a plus. Slightly pricey but great vibe and experience.

As good as it gets, in my opinion. Been here a few times now, and from the grouper to the handmade pasta to the flourless chocolate torta to the brick oven pizzas, this place serves up the best Italian I've ever had.

I'm writing this review with a restroom nearby....my friends and I ate here last night and were less than impressed. There were three of us and we collectively decided to go with the Chef's Plate which includes a 4 course meal at a fixed price and the chef decides what's to be sent out. We started with the Burrata which was small and was fairly fresh. It was paired with tasty olives and a flatbread. All mediocre. The next course was a boring salad and bland pizza. We then waited a bit for our pasta dish, which we were told was gnocchi but in actuality was small ravioli. Tasty, but nothing special. The main course was a roast chicken and a lentil or bean dish. The chicken was tender, but not enough for 3 people. The bean/lentil dish (we aren't sure which it was) was bland and unremarkable. The desert plate was an embarrassment. We all had one bite and then had to have it taken away. It had a lemon sorbet and chocolate cannoli that was bitter and inedible. Overall, the service was decent with our servers being kind and attentive. However. besides the apparent gastro issues we are all having today, what's most annoying is paying $45/person for a meal that was substandard. Don't waste your money when you could walk down the street to Joe's Pasta.

I really like Indaco because the staff is so great and some of their signature dishes are consistent. They have a beautiful menu with some real gems. You can't go wrong with the pizzas or the salads. The regional wines they have to offer are interesting and the staff really seems to be able to match taste requests with less known wines. They have a delicious cocktail menu and excellent presentation. The only critique I have of Indaco is that some of the fish tasting menu dishes are a bit off on execution. They don't seem to have the care of some of the consistent menu items, as if they are still testing out the item.

Loved this dining experience. Great service and great food. Waitress was truly knowledge about the details of what was offered. Professional but very friendly. We started with the prosciutto/cheese/honey/apple/fry bread board which I highly recommend -delicious! For entrees, the three of us had the roasted chicken, the black pepper tagliatelle and the mezzaluna. Our only complaint is the mezzalauna was a very small portion- even for our daughter who is a light eater. That needs to be addressed. Ambiance warm and inviting. Nice wine list and fun cocktails. Would definitely return.

We came here by chance before heading to Woolfe Street Playhouse. We were in a hurry to get a table, have dinner and get to the play. The staff was extremely accommodating and seated us right away on the porch. I definitely give a high mark for service here. We ordered the spring greens salad and the Margherita pizza. Both were delivered quickly. The spring greens salad was tasty but slight on the portion size. The pizza was okay but could have been improved with more basil and spices. It was bland. With the pizza and salad the bill was $32. Not horrible but a bit pricey for what we got. The atmosphere of Indaco is nice with lots of wood, candles, and nicely spaced tables. I wish that we had more time to relax there before rushing away. Reservations are recommended but we were lucky to get a great table on the patio on a pleasant evening. I know this restaurant is capable of getting a higher rating with some minor improvements regarding portion size for the salad and more basil and spices for the pizza.

We just finished dinner here for girls night. There was four of us and we all shared many different things. The best bite of the night for me was, hands down, the cannellini bean stew. If it's on the menu when you visit, get it. It was seasoned perfectly and had tons of flavor! The snapper crudo was also extremely well done. The burrata, which is a pretty flavorless cheese, was flat until I had a bite with the meyer lemon vinaigrette. Unfortunately it was my last bite! I really wish there would have been more of the vinaigrette with it! My only other hiccup about the food, was the sizes. Not portion sizes, but the actual size of things like the pork sausage in the stew, the leaves in the bitter green salad, the fried croutons, and the pizza slices. They were all way too big. It's such a nice restaurant, I didn't feel very lady like, stuffing my face with a huge slice of pizza. And the things that I mentioned that were too big, were all difficult to cut. I almost sent a fried crouton across the restaurant trying to cut it down! As far as service, it was slow at first, but picked up for the rest of the evening. Our reservation was for 7, so that's prime time, and the place was packed. Before we left the GM, Jon, came over and gave us his business card. He said if we ever needed a last minute reservation, he's our man. I found that to be extremely professional. Plus it sent me home with the warm fuzzies! ;)

Another fantastic pizza and pasta dish. They make fresh pasta everyday. I have been to this restaurant close to a dozen times and every time it is excellent and different. They change the menu frequently with seasonal foods. I always look forward to what they will have on the menu next. Service is excellent. I would highly recommend!!

Rather good fine Italian food. Carefully chosen ingredients and well crafted meals. The grouper appetizer was to die for. Good for a group of friends. Get together, order some appetizers, a couple pies to share and your in for a great evening.

4 of us sat at the chef's table and shared a bottle of wine, pizza, kale salad, and whole chicken then tried gelato for dessert! Everything was timely and fabulous. I would recommend the margherita pizza! The dough was made right in front of us and tasted great! The mint chocolate chip gelato was the best of the three kinds we tried. Great service to boot!

I saw this place when it was being shopped around and consisted of a crumbling old building with a dirt floor. The transformation is impressive. Really warm atmosphere, including books on built-in book shelves. Beautifully done. I read other comments about it being loud and I did not feel that was the case at all, and it was a packed house. Great service by Ty! Great suggestions on wine and entrees. I ignored his suggestion and got the skirt steak instead. It wasn't cooked to the proper temp (was medium to medium well instead of medium rare) and it was over salted (thus the 4 stars). The appetizers: the calamari salad was phenomenal and so was the snapper that my friend ordered. Dessert was fernet affogato and it was perfection in every way. I'd love to come back and try the new risotto dish (and listen to my waiter next time).

A cool new addition to upper King. The atmosphere was refreshing - kinda nerdy with a large bookcase spanning most of the right-side of the restaurant. The bar was located toward the rear which helped make the place feel warm and inviting. I think we caught Indaco on an off-day for service. Our server meant well, but was overburdened by a very large table. Our interactions with our server were anywhere from ten to twenty-five minutes apart. This was only concerning because there were a number of not-as-busy servers chatting with the hostesses while our server was frantically trying to keep up. Makes me question the manager's decisions on how to split up the tables that night? Again, this was probably a rare situation and not the norm. The menu looked excellent with exception to the chef's weird fetish with truffles. Our server spent too much time highlighting how many "grams" of truffles come on meals which devalued the rest of the menu. The food my wife and I ordered was great. House cocktails were a tad overpriced for what they were, but were still good nonetheless. In general there was a disconnect between pricing and what they were trying to convey and what we actually experienced that night. I will definitely try again in the future though.

This place had a good vibe. The food was good, but not great, as was the service. We had a pizza with honey crisp apples to start - it was the highlight. The pork suga pasta was good, but the orange in it threw the flavors off a bit. Desert was rosemary gelato, which was new for me, but actually turned out nice.

OK, I'll try again. We walked down to the restaurant after attending the PURE Theatre. Since it was late, we ordered the 3 course restaurant week special. Since my husband is allergic to seafood, the menu was limited for us. However, our waitress was very pleasant and provided excellent service. We ordered the fresh corn appetizer (can't remember the Italian name) which was excellent and unique. The 1/2 roasted chicken was well prepared and served over a lima bean/tomato/pepper sauce. The pasta dish was tasty, but not memorable. Our friends order pork and broiled seafood dishes which were well presented and they enjoyed their meal. Maybe we should have ordered the 4 course meal prepared especially for us by the chef, however, it was a late night meal for us. We will try it again since we love Italian food and Indaco is suppose to be excellent.

Had a great experience. Found the staff to be exceptionally friendly. They do have valet parking which is around back and a little hard to find. We sat at the Chef's table and got to see all of the delicious food coming out. We shared the bitter winter salad, which was a copious, and very sharable portion. I loved the lemon vinaigrette, and wish I could have the recipe! Also shared the fried chickpeas, which were a meh for both of us. Ordered the roasted brussels sprouts pizza and the fennel sausage, butternut squash puree, pistachios and cheese pizza. Both were delicious. Polished off dinner with a caramel budino for dessert. Friend said she'd have a bite, which turned into several. We both took pizza home for the next day. Wished we had gotten the burrata after seeing it go out, so we're going again on Friday!

First off: Hanna Raskin from the Post and Courier might have labeled this restaurant as a "pizza palace" in her article title, but I assure you although their pizza is amazing, it is not the only notable dish on the menu. I came here for my birthday about a month ago and pretty much ordered half of the menu between my friends and I. First off: wine. I am in love with the Orin Swift Locations "I" edition bottle of wine. If you enjoy a solid bottle of red the entire table can enjoy I really recommend this bottle. I had friends at the table who normally drink white but loved this bottle. I have tried to find it at Total Wine in west ashley but alas, they do not carry it. So sad. Food: Snapper, Burrata, Pumpkin Blossom, Veal Tongue, Butter Bean Puree, Prosciutto, Camera D'Aria, Olive pizza, and finally Brussel Sprout Pizza. We ordered all this to be served family style so we were all about to try everything. The snapper and the prosciutto were the top 2 apps on the table. Seriously, if you go there, please order these. If you like cheese (which I love cheese) order the burrata because let's be real, who doesn't really love cheese folded into cheese? The pizza was delicious and it's exciting they serve pizza until midnight on weekends. I totally recommend every dish that we ordered. Service: Trevor did an awesome job. Wine was never low and he kept the booze coming which is what every birthday girl wants (I'm using my birthday as an excuse but honestly every time I go out to eat please just keep the wine coming). He did a great job coursing all of our food out and randomly we would just order a new dish and the kitchen did a great job accommodating that type of sporadic ordering. Decor: Indigo Road decorated another beautiful restaurant. The rustic interior and all the wood is just beautiful. I applaud them on yet another beautifully done restaurant. Steve Palmer has got his empire down to a science and it is more than exciting for us locals in Charleston who love great food and service. If you are looking for "typical" italian food with penne drowning in bland marinara sauce, please go see any italian tourist trap on the market.

WOW!!! I've lived in Italy and this food compares!!! So fresh, so amazing. From the bread to the appetizers and the main courses..Had invited a group of 10 since I loved it and EVERYONE raved! SUPER clean and clean restrooms too! The only downfall is now I refuse to go to any other restaurant in this amazing city of food!

First time...out of bounds! Great menu with many affordable appetizers, pizzas, and pastas. It was packed but service was great. Many creative new dishes to The Charleston food scene. We are fortunate to have Robert Berry On our second try, we ordered all new items. The menu changed already since they promote what is found local. Like Brussels sprouts Pizza...all was very good and the service was just as sharp...

Great food. Reasonable prices. While this may seem petty, I was disappointed there were no free refills on soda.

Amazing food without a doubt. However, I haven't eaten there since Chef Robert Berry didn't work there anymore. The clam pizza is amazing, and I recommend trying the crudo. For dessert they sent us out an ice cream flight. Delish!!

Our last night in Charleston. Our hotel is in the Upper King area, so we've been hiking down to the area around Market Street each night for meals at some of the well-known restaurants. In lieu of another hike downtown, we decide to take a shorter walk for our last dinner in Charleston, and head literally around the block to Indaco. Aaaaand, it is fabulous! The vibe reminded us New Yorkers of Brooklyn, which was interesting and fun. We decided to go with the chef's choice menu, four courses for $45 per person. Do it!!! The meal was beautifully presented and paced. Highlights: burrata, which is a flat toasted bread served with spreadable cheese and marinated olives, beef filet prepared sous-vide (I think I spelled that correctly...) served with lentils, snap peas, fingerling potatoes and onions, a delicious pizza with smoky peppers that added a tremendous yet subtle layer of flavor, and a trio of house-made ice creams for the dessert course, the most amazing of which was a rosemary-white chocolate combination. So yeah, we loved everything, including the 80s music that was playing.

Indaco proved to be another successful Italian restaurant in the Charleston area as we went for a casual dinner one night a few weeks ago. As soon as I walked through the door, I noticed how cozy and rustic the atmosphere was and I instantly loved it. The wood tables and the "bookshelf" with decorations on the right gave me that homey feel. The hostess greeted us with a warm smile and led us to our table. (Reservations are recommended) Moving along, as soon as we were sat, the hostess placed menus in front of us and was quickly replaced with our server who asked us what we wanted to drink. As we were scouring the menu for something that caught our eyes, the manager, Jon, came over and welcomed us with hospitality. As for food, we got many pasta dishes, cappellacci, tagliatelle, bucatini and ditaletti. They were all equally spectacular and made us want more, but alas our stomach said no. And yet we ordered dessert... the honey panna cotta, toasted almond budino and the assortment of sorbet and gelatos. Everything, including the staff, food, atmosphere, and even parking was all very comfortable and wonderful.

The food is fantastic Service by Greer was great Passed the true test of attentiveness by never allowing the water glass to be empty. Very knowledgeable of menu items as well. Love the ambiance of the architecture.

We stopped here purely by chance. Found a parking spot close by and that's what decided us. Amazing service from Trevor! Food was just as amazing too! The only thing wrong with this place is that it's over 1000 miles from my house!

We visited on a Wednesday night and it was absolutely packed... ambiance was great, lots of energy and it definitely jumped out as a real hot spot. Overall it did a good job of backing it up with the food, drinks and service and I would like to come back again to try a few other things on the menu. We sat at the bar (tables were full) and were promptly delivered menus. I went straight for the wine list... you can tell a lot about a restaurant based on its wine list - chances are if they have a well curated wine list, they put in the same, or more, effort in sourcing ingredients for food and paying attention to the all-important details that go into running a restaurant. On this measure, they definitely had a good wine list. It was almost 100% Italian to go with the food theme which I applaud (it is so sad when an Italian restaurant pushes something like a cheap Malbec by the glass) and there was a good variety of selections from different regions in Italy. So far so good! On to the food... we ordered the fall vegetable salad and the margherita pizza. There were definitely some other food selections that jumped out as more exciting, but decided to go with a few classics just to see how they were done. No complaints - the salad was very good (not jump out of my seat great) and the pizza was excellently crafted. The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 was that the food, while very good, didn't over deliver... it met my expectations and was not flawed in any way, but was not overly exciting. I'll definitely go back and try a few of the more creative dishes and perhaps that will give it the bump up. Service was good... the first glass of wine I ordered was corked, and the bar tender promptly exchanged it for a glass from a new bottle. Food was a bit slow but it was a busy night and you can only cook so many pizzas in the oven at a time, so no complaints. I also should mention that the cocktail we had at the end of the night was excellent. I could tell they really know how to make a good drink which is an area that many restaurants seem to not pay enough attention. In summary, drinks were excellent, food and service was very good. I was torn on my rating, but I'll stick with a 4+ for now and revisit after I try more of the menu.

Staff was very friendly and the atmosphere was great. The downside: the cuisine was terrible... The fancy Italian-ish menu options were lacking in authenticity and the favors in the dishes did not blend well together.

Had the opportunity to dine at Indaco on my trip home. I enjoyed my meal, but did not think it lived up to hype. We ordered the burrata, lamb meatballs, and Iberico prosciutto to start. I enjoyed the flat bread selection - a Parmesan covered with the burrata and a crispier cracker-like version with prosciutto. I also liked that they served the Asian pear with prosciutto - it was a refreshing alternative to the normal melon accompaniment. For our entrees, we ordered the sausage pizza with a farm egg and the clam pizza. Neither pizzas disappointed, but I also was not floored. Perhaps, I would have been if the clam pizza had more clams! Service was great! Our waiter Logan was very attentive and helpful on suggestions, not to mention that he was also italian, which boosted the spot's authenticity ;) All in all - my dining experience was good enough to return once the hype dies down

We loved this restaurant. We had reservations somewhere every other night of our trip and just stubled into this restaurant. We were so glad that we did. Unique and creative twist on italian with incredible pizza and pasta dishes. Our waitress was fabulous. We loved sitting on their patio. Their food feels very gourmet yet doesn't drain your wallet (like most of the establishments in Charleston). I highly recommend the pasta with snap peas and fingerling potatoes. Delicious!

The food is so refreshing. The fresh grouper Crudo was cut into small cubes which is a different take but well executed. It was perfectly seasoned. The fried squash blossom with the zucchini and squash salad together was a great bite. The pasta was really good especially the Lobster pasta dish with the fresh caviar. Amazing. Their gelati (1.Salted Caramel 2.Lime) and sorbbetti (3. Peach&Strawberry) was a great way to end the meal. The service was good even though the restaurant was busy. The environment does get loud during peak hours but I was able to have a great conversation with my date the whole meal. Don't pay attention to the background noise people. Focus on what's in front of you... I will return

The chef curate family style option was great! The three of us got to share 8 different dishes. All was amazing. Several of the dishes we wouldn't normally order but turned out to be great. Loved the Burrata appetizer and Fennel argula salad. The pasta and pizza were good too. Very much worth the experience! Great atmosphere.

Just got done with an amazing meal at an amazing place. We chose the sampler four course meal for $45 over a nicely recommended bottle of red wine (sorry I forget what it was). The entire meal was delicious but the blood orange panna cotta with candied pistachios was to die for. Over all a tad expensive but I say you get what you pay for and if you are willing to shell out some cash this is the way to do it. I will look forward to the day I return to this place.

The Brussels Sprout Pizza was a delicious and creative meal; however, my low rating is because of the service and overall experience. We had a reservation for 7:30 on a Saturday night. We arrived right at 7:30 and the hostess said it would be a 5 minute wait. Twenty five minutes later, we were finally seated. There was no apology, just a thank you for being patient as we were finally seated. All in all, just a really bad start to the meal.

Went here on a slow winter night and did the chefs tasting menu. Everything was ok but nothing special. If you want authentic Italian, go to Lucca or bacco

We had dinner at Indaco last night. Everything, food, service, atmosphere, were excellent. We tried several different dishes - all were excellent. If you like charcuterie, the prosciutto appetizer was awesome. The pizza was great. Everything we ate was very good in the strongest sense of the word. But that wasn't all. The service was outstanding - Trevor, our waiter, took very good care of us.We felt like we were taken care of by the entire staff. When Trevor was busy with other tables, others took care of us. We would lie to thank everyone, Trevor, Chase, John, and others (sorry I did not get everyone's names) for a great evening and a dining experience. If you are local like us or visiting Charleston, I would highly recommend Indaco.

Food: very limited menu. My friend had a farro that was dry and without any flavour. I had the eggplant lasagnette that barely had any sauce in it or all of it was soaked up(?)... Drinks: my friend ordered 15 state (rye, ginger, lime, sugar) that basically tasted like watered down lemonade. I had 6 wines to select from to order by glass-one pinot noir, one Merlot, three Sauvignon blends and one other wine. for a place with a bar how can you not have Shiraz, Malbec etc BY THE GLASS???!!!! Lastly ambience: the place was so loud that at a table for two, we could not hear each other without shouting. Terrible experience. We will never revisit.

First things first, Best Dinner Bread Ever!!! I could go there just for bread and wine. Had the eggplant lasagna. Was expecting noodles, but the eggplant actually took the place of the noodles. My fault for not realizing this. It was still good though! And I would order it again. We also had a chocolate dessert (can't remember what it was called) but we ordered it bc a man sitting near us exclaimed "This is the BEST thing ever!!!" so we asked what it was and also ordered it. He was right. It was delicious. The interior is really cool too. And if you sit at the bar you can sort of see into the kitchen, which is cool. Can't wait to go back!

A solid 4 1/2 stars. Great addition to the upper King scene! The atmosphere is great. Nice open concept to the kitchen with a view of the brick oven and great spacious bar area. The restaurant is on the warm side because of the oven which will be great for the fall and winter months but was a bit uncomfortable in August. The food was great. We did the 4 for $40 option where the chef chooses our courses. We loved being surprised and it was great value for the money. Every course had two options and all were solid. The brick oven pizza was delicious and the chicken entree was flavorful. The only course that was slightly underwhelming was the dessert course. If they revamp that I think they'll have an A+ menu. And one note that may seem small but was appreciated is that they have two women's restrooms. Nice touch! It also looked like they are going to have an outdoor patio area but it wasn't open yet. Once it is, that will be an awesome option for seating all year long. Can't wait to go back!

Fresh and tasty Italian spot. Something very different on the king street strip. Very warming atmosphere and a great layout and interior decorating. Bare wood and slightly smokey scent from the roaring open wood oven is awe inspiring. A very impressive cocktail and wine list with a very original and cool bar setup. The food is fantastic and some very interesting mixes of flavors and tastes to entice the pallatte. Service is great and friendly and it's always fun to watch the kitchen operating right infront of you. Highly recommended. Great spot.

This is a relatively new restaurant to the upper King Street area of Charleston and the space is beautiful, but loud. The food is gourmet Italian and the menu is limited, with heavy to appetizers, a few pizzas, and few entrees. We had the bitter kale salad which was great and easily serves 2 people, followed by the margarita pizza which was also good. My husband ordered a pasta dish which was expensive and was a very small portion. Drinks were also expensive, $10 for a small glass of wine, and $ 9 for. Cocktail. All in all a nice restaurant with fresh food and good flavor , but if you are expecting traditional Italian food with red sauce, don't come here. I think it is expensive for what you get so not a good value, and we eat out about 4 times a week. We would not go back..

stopped in. wood fires pizza's are very tasty. Defintiely an "in" place right now. Deduct points for no real flexibility, like ordering a pizza different than what is on the menu. No happy hour or drink specials. Come on. it's the south.

Went for a birthday dinner and the experience was awful. Our dinner took 2 hours to come out and when it did the pizzas were burnt. Ask for bread because they don't just bring it out. Service and food is bad. Monza wins over this place.

I always wanted to try this place after reading some reviews from local eateries. I was extremely disappointed with both service and food. We ordered our drinks (which never got refilled) and just sat there and waited, and waited. Eventually we flagged down our waiter and ordered an appetizer and two entrees. The appetizer took about 45min despite the fact that it was a cold (not cooked) appetizer. About an hour later we got our pasta. Both portions were ridiculously small and my pasta was all over the place, some were al-dente others incredibly overcooked. The only good thing I could say was that the sauce was really rich and velvety. This place is overpriced and not worth it. Do not waste your money

The atmosphere of this place is great. Visited there last week. Honestly I was really not impressed with the food there at all, me and my friend ordered the chick pea appetizer which was really good, but we both ordered pizzas and they were nothing impressive, certainly monza has better wood fired pizza than this place. We also ordered a salted caramel dessert which ended up being wayyyy to salty and had to send it back. The service was exceptional here but still need to work on the menu

The food was amazing offering unique and inventive italian fare (except for desserts which were all soft in texture.... puddings, ice creams, sorbets, panna cotta. only crunch is a canoli) The room is industrial in style with incredible high ceiling that make it - OMG LOUD! even with few patrons in the place you had to yell to be heard except for the person beside you. The acoustic panels are so high they have no effect. Then as the room fills ... forget it you eat without conversation because it is beyond tolerable. Add to that there is no separation of the bar with the restaurant so bar patrons crowd around your table making your dinning experience more like bumper cars. Service was good at first but fell as dinner continued. Food slow out of kitchen throughout the night. On food alone... 5 stars... on room and ambiance - half star... service 2 stars

Food is fantastic - a great new addition to the Charleston dining scene. Don't miss the pizzas. An antipasta, pizza, and pasta is the perfect combination for 2 to share. However, both times I've been here the service has been poor. Once basically ignored and every rookie mistake was made. Gave it some more time before my 2nd visit to only have to wait 45 minutes past my reservation to get seated. Waitress was fine, but service could have been faster and more efficient, especially after the wait. Took another 20 min to get order placed after seated. Really wish the service could be up to par with the food. I'd easily rank it higher than Lucca if so. (The noise level needs to be dealt with as well. I'm not hard of hearing - just felt like I was yelling the whole time.)

Really disappointed in this spot. While the styling inside is warm and relaxed, they pack far too many people into the space. As a result, it's as loud as a metal concert. That might work for a bar, but my group couldn't hear each other despite screaming. Definitely not a first date spot, unless you're sure the two of you will have nothing to talk about. The food was surprisingly bad. I had a pizza, and while looking great, it was bland. The crust was tasteless, the toppings sparse. Other dishes at the table ranged from acceptable (tough to mess up steak) to awful (avoid the soup). The waitstaff were great, and the prices - while decent - were not low enough to make up for the experience. Too many other solid Italian options in the area to waste your time here. The bar had good cocktails and a nice wine selection, so it might be worth looking into for a drink. Just avoid it if its crowded or you'll need to learn sign language.

Went here for a friend's birthday dinner, we had an extra person arrive and though we waited 20mins past our reso time the hostess got us a bigger table....we ordered cocktails to start, all of the waitress' suggestions were decent. We ordered the octopus/squid salad, the burrata, the crudo and and the stuffed pumpkin blossoms (holy tits those were amazing)...only two of us were actually eating and that was more than enough for us. The crudo was spicy and perfect..the octopus salad was delicious and the burrata was cheese, olives, olive oil and bread. C'mon. We ordered a carafe of the vino della casa bianco, which for 3 of us was about 3 glasses each. Awesome. Our waitress noticed that we all were having a great time and didn't bother us but just checked on us every now and then. I hate missing servers or ones that won't leave you alone. She was great. It didn't hurt that the chef was a smokin' hot silver fox and the waitress let us take our wine and smokes out on the porch that they haven't opened up yet. Yes we are those girls. Thank you for having a great birthday dinner for my best friend Indaco! We'll be back

Went last night. Quite a crowd as anticipated and for the most part things were very good. Nice addition to the downtown restaurant scene. The evening got off to a disappointing start when we (party of 3) were taken to a high top table that barely seats two comfortably. When we requested a regular table we were politely told that they were all reserved for the evening. I would recommend reserving a table when making your reservation. Staff were exceptional when explaining the menu and overall service was quite good on such a busy night. I had the snapper appetizer which was excellent along with the buccotini entree also very good. My wife started with the iamb meatball apply which neither of us liked and a pasta dish in a broth which was interesting but not something either of us would order on our next visit. Our daughter had a basic pizza which was very good. Very solid and reasonable wine list. We will definitely go back once the buzz quiets down. Also, very loud inside which can be fun but not a place to go if you are looking for a quiet restaurant.

Pizza and pastas are legit Great bartenders and service. Restaurant itself is awesome, they make a large space feel both intimate and lively all at the same time. Secret tip...go sit at the bar for brunch it's worth it

I would like to give a 4.5 star rating and i obviously will explain why. Walking into Indaco, is an experience. I wouldn't describe it as hipster, nor as romantic, nor as speakeasy but it's very cosy with dimmed lights, soft background music and wooden table and walls. We were seated at the table on the outside patio which is covered, luckily. We were received by very friendly waiters who took their time and knowledge to explain us the menu. And they SOLD that menu. Apparently the menu changes on a regular basis so i'm sorry if the descriptions no longer match. As a starter we shared a plate of charcuterie which was plenty to feed 6 hungry people. It's basically nibble food over conversation but the flavours were so good. Especially if you combine the compote with the bread and the cheese. As my main course, I choose the squid ink pasta with king crab. For those who don't know, squid ink is black pasta. Just imagine a big plate of awesome pasta with chuncks of king crab and a great creamy sauce to bind it all. When we were ready to pay, the waiter offered if we would like a limoncello which is common in Italy after dinner. We thought it came complimentary since it was offered out of the blue. It wasn't only not complimentary, it was $10 shot per person added to our bill. But after spending such a feast and such an experience, we let it slide and continued our tour on King St.

Me and my husband came here for their Anniversary dinner and decided to do the 3 for $35 special they were having. To start we had some drinks. I tried their specialty cocktail the Lowcountry Bolle($11) which had Prosecco, Aperol, and herbed lemonata. I love Prosecco so this cocktail was perfect for me. Very light, fruity and not too sweet. My husband had the Peroni ($9). A little pricey but it was a nice light beer. When I got home I realized that I did not receive a discount for my drinks which were suppose to be half price that night. The waiter was bragging about how expensive the drinks usually are but I was charged what was advertised on the menu which is the same as advertised online. For dinner we started with the Sweet Corn Pizza pancetta, poblano peppers, ricotta was very creamy and delicous. Very delicious unique flavors on a thin crust pizza. It reminds me allot of EVO's pizza but I prefer the cook on EVO's crust. The Burratta appetizer (mozzarella ball) had cherry tomatoes, focaccia, basil, capers, olive oil. This appetizer was amazing! The cheese was so creamy and paired with the tomatoes and bread pushed it over the top! I loved the subtle lemon on top of everything and the delicious olive oil. The cheese was not made in house though and it is like any Burratta mozzarella from the store. My husband had the New York Strip entree which had tuscan kale, on top of focaccia bread. I would have liked to see the NY strip on a bed of something more substantial than a piece of bread. I had the Agnolotti pasta was filled with brisket, fontina fonduta, oyster mushrooms, pickled shallots, parmesan. It was a bit heavy on the salt but the flavors were amazing. For dessert we had the peanut butter moose which was made with scotch, chocolate, sesame, saba. Very dense and rich. The toasted almond budino was my favorite! It had caramel, chocolate shortbread, sweet cream. So incredibly creamy with an aromatic almond flavor. All the flavors together in one bite was so delicious! I would come back just so I could eat it again! The waiter was very attentive and made good recommendations for us. There was various staff constantly filling drinks and clearing the tables. Something small that I appreciate is that we got new silverware with each course. One thing that was a bit of a distraction is that as the night progressed people were flowing in and the hostesses were set on converting tables once a customer was finished. So I would constantly see peering eyes over our table throughout our meal to see how far along we were and to estimate when we would be finished. I was a waitress/hostess so it didn't bother me too much but It was noticeable. A positive is that the staff is very attentive and well trained. They are prepared and know how to handle a busy night. The chefs are also very efficient and on time with each course. Although there were a few nit-picky things throughout the night, overall everything we had was delicious. I would definitely try Indaco again to explore the menu further.

Came here for dinner recently and was much more impressed than I had previously. Our server was super friendly and helpful and the food was delicious. Its hard to find pasta dishes that you can't make at home because of their flavor and style, but that's exactly what we enjoyed recently. I honestly can't think of better pasta in town.

If I were just reviewing the food I would give 5 stars, but our service was lack luster at best. It could be just because we sat on the patio and the 2 servers were "sharing" all the tables, but it took forever to get drinks, one of the servers forgot to place our appetizer orders (both the shrimp and the prosciutto were to die for when we finally received them!) and our dinner dishes were slow as well (also, all phenomenal: the fish special, brisket agnolotti and the eggplant dish) and then getting the check was like pulling teeth. It is an amazing place, we loved the ambiance and the patio, but we felt like both servers were just assuming the other one was attending to us when in reality neither of them were. We had to flag someone down every time we wanted to order and a friend of mine that just happened to be dining on the patio on the same night said that was her experience as well. Next visit we will be dining inside and hoping for the same great food with hopefully better service. Verdict: great food, beware of the patio!

Five star all the way: food, decor, service, drinks. We loved everything about Indaco. I wish I'd eaten here before I moved away from Charleston! We ordered the peach pizza (delish), the agnolotti with meat filling (I stole some not so clandestinely) and the raviolo with ricotta and egg yolk. Everything was great, I would order all three things again. We ordered three desserts afterwards: the almond budino, the bombolini and the honey gelato. Again, three great choices. The budino is rich and smooth with a scoop of whipped cream, salty caramel on top and a chocolate cookie. Our waiter, Ty, suggested mixing it all together and he was right! The bombolini were hot, bite sized donuts with a blackberry dipping sauce. The honey gelato was smooth and tasted just like you'd want: creamy and lightly sweet. The decor in the restaurant was calming - beige and grey, kind of industrial with pipes exposed but refined. I would love to have a living room that looks just like Indaco. All the waiters are dressed in a version of the same denim outfit with an apron and brown shoes. The attention to detail here is impressive. The service was smooth and friendly. I hate going out to eat and feeling like I've been processed through a place. "Hi, my name is Tami and I'll be taking care of you tonight. Can I start you with something to drink?" Yeah, none of that here. Jokes and suggestions and general good feelings all around. Being a waiter is like being an actor except the cast you're a part of keeps changing and you have to roll with the punches to join the ensemble. Two thumbs up to Ty. Overall, I wish every one of my birthday dinner happened at Indaco! The agnolotti are a can't miss and they brought me back to childhood with the first bite.

We enjoyed a solid meal at Indaco. We started with the burrata which was so creamy and delicious. I would highly recommend this appetizer. We then split the raviolo and agnalotti. We liked the agnalotti better. I am hard to please when it comes to raviolo because I already had the most amazing one in wine country. Definitely try the agnalotti though. The cocktails were good and our waitress was very friendly. Peering through the window at the rich was the name of the cocktail I enjoyed. The dessert was ok. If you like pb and choc, definitely get the pb mousse! We sat in the outdoor space which was nice and quiet on a Monday night. They played some great music too!

Definitely a 5 star establishment! The my favorite was the peach pizza which my friend ordered. I got the ravioli which was also delicious. Portion sizes are large enough to satisfy completely and if you want dessert afterwards you could even have some left to go. The staff is very unique. They arent just friendly they are knowledgeable and entertaining. There wasnt a dull moment in our time here. Ty, our waiter was great. Kept up with is and made wonderful suggestions. I especially liked that he'd actually tried almost everything on the menu and could describe it not just list ingredients. The decor and the volume was perfect. Not silent where you could here a pin drop but also not too loud for you to hear yourself think. We could maintain a decent volume in our conversations. Decor was not to dull but also not crazy. Perfect mixture of calm and character.

Yes yes yes yes yes. Come here, even if you have to suck it up and take a 5:45 reservation like we did. It will be worth it. We went to Charleston for a long weekend at the last minute and were pretty hasty in some of our dinner reservation decisions. One awesome thing we decided to do was a chefs kitchen tour with Charleston Culinary Tours which introduced us to Indaco. We got to hang out a bit with chef T (the pasta man) and ask questions. He discussed the restaurant, the food, and his role. And while talking, we got to watch him make some of their hand-made pasta. It was that moment I decided we needed to eat there. So we walked outside, I cancelled our other reservations for the following evening and took whatever I could get at Indaco - which wound up being 5:45 pm. When our reservation rolled around the next day, we found out they seated us at the chefs table (score!) so we could watch everything. I've worked in several restaurants so I love that stuff. We decided to follow all the previous Yelp suggestions and do the chefs choice menu for $45/person. BEST DECISION EVER. What followed was 4 courses (a total of 7 dishes) of perfect. I hate mayonnaise and mentioned it so they made sure to work around - no aioli on top of things, etc. It was perfect. We left stuffed and incredibly happy. It was the perfect dining experience. And since it took a couple hours for the meal, by the time we got out it was almost 8 and we had time to walk King street before the sunset. I cannot recommend Indaco highly enough. I can't wait to do it again - the 6-hour drive will be worth it.

Indaco would have gotten 5 stars if only somebody acknowledged me once I was seated. I don't mind waiting - I've worked all facets of the restaurant industry. Waiting can and will happen. It's the being ignored that makes or breaks it for me, especially when dining alone. My waiter eventually came over and apologized for his delay but I was already a little soured by then. However, once I was able to get attention and order, my waiter was attentive and welcoming. The head-on shrimp appetizer was excellent at $13 - wonderful batter and seasoning and my pizza with sausage and basil was very good as well. It was not a giant pizza at $17 and I was glad to have had the shrimp first with some pizza left over to take home. I would return again to sample the pasta or try the Chefs table - it seems that should not be missed.

I took my friend Sydney G. out to Indaco for her birthday! Coincidentally, her birthday occurs during restaurant week. We went to Indaco intending to do the restaurant week menu but our waitress (who was very nice and attentive) talked us into the chef-curated, family style meal and I'm really glad she did! It ended up being four courses showcasing a wide variety of dishes at the restaurant and it was really fun not knowing what was coming next. Our first course came with two dishes: Pickled shrimp with squash, eggplant puree, and salsa rossa Chanterelle salad with farro, almonds, kale, red onion, and ricotta, topped with a farm egg I am not a huge shrimp fan, but I'll try anything once and I wasn't a complete hater. I'm sure anyone who likes shrimp AND pickles would have loved the pickled shrimp. They would make for a great twist in a shrimp cocktail. The vegetables in this dish, though, were fresh, flavorful, and complemented each other very well. The Chanterelle salad was really good, although the oatmeal-y texture might put some people off. I am a sucker for anything with a poached egg on top, so I was sold. There was some kind of stalk on this dish that looked kind of like asparagus but wasn't and I can't find it via Google searches. Because it looked like asparagus, I wanted it to taste like asparagus and was disappointed when it didn't. I could have done without whatever edible plant that was. Course Two consisted of: Sweetcorn pizza with pork tesa Agnolotti with milk braised pork and shitake mushrooms Yes to both of these things, always and forever. The pizza's ingredients balanced sweet, savory, and spicy perfectly. The agnolotti was rich and meaty and I should have stopped eating here but didn't. This was my favorite course. Course Three was: Whole roasted mackerel on raddicchio & arugula salad with Calabrian chili, and grilled lemon Fall Vegetables including parsnip, sweet onion, celeriac, that non-asparagus veggie, other stuff, squash puree Why and how was I still eating at this point? I do not know. The whole roasted mackerel, although I'm sure prepared to perfection, was not my thing. I don't really like fish with a strong flavor and the mackerel had a pretty aggressive fish taste. I really enjoyed taking pictures of it though. The salad was also VERY hot. They were not playing around with that chili. The vegetables were the winner of this course. Roasted just right with a variety of sweet and savory veggies plus a pickled onion on the side. If I could make vegetables like that, I would get more than my five a day regularly. And the final dish (still eating, don't judge): Toasted Almond Budino with salted caramel and chocolate shortbread The salted caramel was amazing! If I was not about to explode from all of the food, I would have enjoyed this a LOT more, so my tip would be to not eat like you're trying to make it into the Guinness Book of World Records so you can savor your dessert. I had a really great time exploring all of these dishes at Indaco. The dishes I did not like were because of personal preference, not anything on the chef's side. I would recommend being open minded and trying new things, but I would not recommend eat that amount of food in one sitting. Indaco is a great option for a nice meal with someone you might be trying to impress!

Wow this italian gem of a restaurant is a must for anyone in Charleston!! Indaco is all authentic, they cure their own meats and make their own pasta, awesome!! You have to start with the prosciutto platter it is great! My son is 11yrs old and the waitress Sarah recommended the Agnolotti, he thought it was fantastic! My wife had the Tagliatelle phenominal!! Of course I had for the 1st time the Agnolotti it was incredibly tasty and I wanted more even though I was full plain awesome! I must say the staff are extremely nice, helpful, and they are intelligent reliable in respect to the menu. Awesome experience, Indaco you Rock!!

Some of the most authentic Italian food I've had outside of Italy. And this is coming from a guy in NY where's there's an Italian restaurant on every other street corner. Great staff, environment and bar. You cannot go wrong with either big groups or small. I've been to Indaco many times and have never been disappointed.

Indaco serves some of the best Italian food in all of Charleston, including amazing wood-fire pizzas, house-made pastas and family-style entrees. I love sitting at their chef's table with a friend for dinner, where you can watch as the chef's prepare everything right in front of you (and the wait time for a table is always shorter). Their wood fire pizzas are all exquisite, crispy but not too thin where you feel like you need to eat the entire pizza to be full. I especially love their unique options like the Brussels Sprouts Pizza w. Apple & Bacon and the Beet Pizza w. crème fraiche and tarragon. You really can't go wrong with any of their pastas either, with my favorite being the Agnolotti w. brisket, mushrooms and picked shallots. O and one must always do as the Italians do and start their meal with an order of Burrata, served with flatbreads & marinated olives. I am dying to try their new brunch menu and heard their Nutella Pizza is quite life changing ;) If you are looking for a memorable Italian dining experience downtown, you really can't beat the service, atmosphere and cuisine at Indaco. Must order items: Burrata appetizer Margherita Pizza (half price from 5-7 during the week for Happy Hour) Angnolotti Black Pepper Tagliatelle

Excellent meal, ambiance, and food - as always. The black pepper tagliatelle is a must and the peanut butter mousse is a decadently fancy peanut butter cup. Will be going back again and again.

I would like to give them 10 stars for major customer service. The last time I was there, (and have been there many times), the manager remembered us. Cameo over asked if all ok, remembered my daughter from DC. Told me that if I ever have in issues wi making a reservation, to call him, gave me his card. WOW. They have all our information on the computer, so they know we love the chefs table. They want to know and understand their customers. A must place to go again and again. Frank G

I've had a lot of Italian food in my 26 years on Earth. I am a pizza and pasta fiend. So when a place manages to stand out among my countless carb-ventures (including those actually in Italy)- it's worth shouting from the rooftops. Image me screaming this review from a rooftop, please. Got it? Good, let's go. (Okay, maybe nix the screaming part, but you get the idea). A friend and I had weeknight reservations for 7:45. We were seated without any delay at 7:45 on the dot- and please do note the place was still packed on a weeknight. So props for promptness. Aside from seating us without any delay- the timing of the meal and service was perfectly spaced. This is something most people don't appreciate unless it goes horribly awry. But I never once wondered where the heck our server had wandered off to- nor did I feel that they turned up at our table abruptly every other bite I took. Our orders were taken, bread was brought, food was delivered all in a perfectly paced manner. I wasn't scanning for our waters, or awkwardly trying to get anyone's attention or pining away as I watched everyone else eat. So, onto the food. I got to bucatini, which is where I want to give the most props. This was a vegetarian dish with a mushroom bolognese sauce. And I know people are going to be skeptical at a vegetarian version of a beloved traditional favorite but please, please, please give it shot. The texture was perfect, the flavor was great. It was hearty and a nice change of pace. I ended up finishing every morsel on my plate. I highly recommend it. My friend has been to Indaco once before and she loved the dish she got, Black Pepper Tagliatelle, so much that she immediately ordered it again. Both of us opted for the toasted almond budino ( with salted caramel, chocolate shortbread, and sweet cream) for dessert. I ordered it solely based on my friend's recommendation not realizing that it's a custard/pudding like dessert (that doesn't do it justice). Now, I am not a fan of puddings. I really don't like them at all, really. But man, this dessert was rich enough and such a great combination of flavors that I found myself enjoying it immensely. I should say it's definitely thicker than pudding and quite rich. Definitely a decadent dessert and another unique option for those who are tired of the endless varies of cake found on most dessert menus. The atmosphere was great and I was surprised it didn't seem too loud. My bill for one person with a pasta entree, dessert, (no drink) and tip came to just about 40 dollars- so it's not cheap. But it's worth the money. I'd go here for a treat- you don't want to have to nickel and dime yourself. Definitely splurge on at least an appetite or dessert. It's a great place for a special occasion! Or if you can afford 50 dollar dinners all the time, which, if you can, I promise THIS is the place to be going.

I finally made a return visit and I am so glad that I did. Excellent all around! The server was probably one of the best I have ever had. She was terrific!

A solid 3. In Charleston for work and a group of 9 found ourselves at Indaco. We went with the four course family style meal that the chef curates for the table. If you have dietary restrictions, just let the server know and they'll happily accommodate the courses. Service was great, staff is knowledgeable, and the place was beautiful - white, cozy interior and it wasn't loud (then again, it was a Tues evening and our party might have been the loudest ones). To the food: Appetizers: Burrata - the salty, cheesey flat bread with the creamy burrata was delicious. The presentation of the dish was great, too. Comes with marinated green olives. Triggerfish - light, well-marinated, and fresh seafood appetitzer. A great healthy option to prepare for the carb over load to come. Shaved carrots - I'm not doing this dish any justice by labeling it 'shaved carrots'. I don't see it on their online menu. They must've created this for us because one of our guests is a vegetarian. Full of flavor (not salt), and the right amount of tenderness. All three appetizers they selected were a winner. Pizza: PROSCIUTTO - made with their homemade ricotta and topped with lots of arugula. The ricotta was silky and delicious, and I absolutely love arugula, especially arugula topped with pecorino romano. This was my favorite pizza. COTECHINO - I think this is supposed to be one of the pizzas other reviews raved about. Other than their house-made sausage, I wasn't a fan of this pizza. The braised greens that come on top are a little too bitter for my taste. BEET pizza - again, this wasn't on their online menu as I type this review, but it was basically a pizza with fresh made red beet paste that replaced the cheese and sauce. Topped with chunks of beets and nuts (pistachio, hazelnut?). The sweetness wasn't over-powering, but almost reminded me of a dessert. CERIGNOLA OLIVES - it had a spicy chili on it so I didn't try it. Pasta: BLACK PEPPER TAGLIATELLE - creamy and love that you can mix the egg yolk in yourself when it comes to the table. I love carbonara but I didn't like this. There was a seafood flavor that half the table tasted. We couldn't put our finger on what it was or why it was there. PAPPARDELLE - This pasta was my favorite out of the two. The pork was flavorful without being salty. The pasta was cooked to a perfect al dente. Dessert: Wasn't impressed with any, and could have skipped it. But of course, I had to try all and try more than one to convince my taste buds to give it another shot. Bomboloni - basically, mini round doughnuts dusted in sugar and cinnamon with a citrus-like glaze to dip it in. Chocolate torte or was it a chocolate flourless dessert with blood orange sorbet. Forgot the name of the third dessert but it reminded me of an almond panna cotta, except more watery and less 'tight'.

This place is amazing! The bartenders are awesome! Im not a big drinker but the bartender made me one if the best drinks Ive ever had! our appetizer (the flatbread with honey, peaches, prosciutto and parmesan) was SO GOOD! It made me want to cancel my entree order and have a second serving of the appetizer. Must try place! The pasta was delish!
Had a fabulous meal at Indaco. Everyone was fabulous and the food was fabulous. John and his great staff do a supper job. Thank you John and staff. Hugh E Long

The whole experience is fabulous and I honestly think it gets better and better with each visit- just when I think there is nothing to improve upon! The server Trevor gets major props, he always goes above and beyond, is incredibly knowledgable and his service impeccable. The food is beyond delicious- fresh, expertly prepared and there is no way you can have a first bite without your eyes opening widely and commenting "YUM!" The ambience is cozy and warm. Thanks for another great visit!

Lily H. and I had originally come to Indaco last night for restaurant week, but instead we were talked into the 4-course chef's choice family-style meal, which was only $10 more. And boy was it worth it. Course #1, we were given their new pickled shrimp dish, which was served with this very fruity tasting squash, eggplant puree, and a salsa rossa which was absolutely spectacular. There were so many different flavors, but they went together really well. We also got their Chantille salad (idk if that's the right spelling. The waitress said everything was on the menu, but I don't see either of these on the menu as of yet) which was farro, almonds, and some other stuff topped with a farm egg. It was also good, but the texture kind of threw me off a little. Course #2 (my favorite course) consisted of the sweetcorn pizza, which I was a little nervous about at first, but really enjoyed. It was perfectly thin and crispy and the sweetness of the corn really complemented the spiciness of the pork tessa. We also got the agnolotti, stuffed with milk-braised pork shoulder and topped with pickled red onions. OMG. So good. I'd definitely be back for this dish alone. Course #3 consisted of the summer vegetable vegetable plate, which was actually delicious. I thought it was kind of a cop out, but the veggies were unusual and uniquely prepared and totally delish. We also got the whole mackerel served with cucumber & argula salad, coppa-lentil vinaigrette, calabrian chili. The salad was super spicy and the fish was a lot fishier than I would've liked. It was definitely the only thing I was disappointed with during the entire meal, though. Dessert was the toasted almond budino, which I really enjoyed (more so for the salted caramel than anything else) I was a little disappointed that they only brought us one dessert to try (even though I literally was so full there was no way I'd have been able to eat it) because all of the other courses had been samplings of 2 menu items. All in all, I loved the food, the service, and the atmosphere and I'll definitely be back to try the tagliatelle (and everything else on the menu!).

Awesome! Food, service and wine were spot on. Very nice Italian wine list. Homemade limoncello was delicious, and potent. Soft shell crab and asparagus app was amazing. Pasta dishes were absolutely delicious. The brisket pasta dish was to die for!!! Highly recommend!

"Best meal ever" says my fiance every time we walk out the front door. All ingredients seem as if they have been picked fresh or the garden in the back if the restraunt. (Not really but they might as well have been) For first timers the chefs special will be the way to go. A FULL four course meal. If you come with a date you may try up to 7 different dishes. The main dish will come made for two rather than two separate dishes as with the others. The service is attentive and knowledgeable 9 both the wine and the food. Trust me you will want an explanation of the unique dishes. Non alcoholic drinks are also excellent. Expect an expert crafted menu that will change with the seasons and the availability of fresh ingredients.

WOW, what to say. Though the menu isn't huge, everything on it is huge on flavor! We started with cocktails and the "Pancetta" Pizza. I'm a sucker for a pizza topped with arugula, and I'd have to say this was one of the best I've ever had. The creamy ricotta blended so perfectly with the peppery arugula. We took my mother-in-law here for her Birthday. My wife had the Pappardelle. This was a deliciously unique pasta dish. The orange zest really cut through giving this meal a very delicate and light finish. The creaminess of the sauce finished the dish perfectly. I had the Bucatini, which if you looking for something close to the Americanized spaghetti bolognese this would be my recommendation. Though a vegetarian dish, you would never guess by its flavor. Very deep and rich with a mushroom flavor. The pasta is large and chewy and has a hollow center that seemed to catch some of the delicious tomato/mushroom ragu. The star of our table however was ordered by my Mother-in-law. The Agnolotti was DIVINE. The slow cooked beef brisket that fills the pasta was so rich and flavorful I could hardly keep my fork on my own plate. The pickled shallots cut through perfectly making this dish a delight to eat. Our server was knowledgeable and very attentive and good. Finished the meal with a classic negroni to help digest the deliciously huge meal we just ate. I can not wait to go back and dine at Indaco again. Charleston has so many great restaurants, that you never have to go back anywhere, so it is great when the place is so good you can not wait to go back!

Delicious, smszing food. Not your grandmother's Italian. We sat at the chef's table and watched the magic. It was a wonderful dining and drinking experience. They have a terrific selection of Italian wines. I had the Black Pepper Tagiatelle which was the best I ever tasted EVER!!!

We got off to a little bit of a rocky start, but it was all made up for throughout the night. The manager was attentive, table service was excellent and the staff friendly. Food was terrific. We had the salad, burrata, margherita pizza and the ditaleti pasta. Really enjoyed everything, except the ditaleti. Just didn't quite meet our expectations. Tips: Get the Burrata appetizer and try the homemade Limoncello

Returned for a Monday night dinner a year later. Service was still very good and professional. Food was also delicious. Had the cauliflower pesto pizza which was super yummy. Both times I ate pizza here and it was awesome both times. I appreciate consistency!

WE stopped into Indaco after failing to get seats at a few other restaurants... ok so call us unprepared. It was the Saturday night before Easter, and we had no reservations anywhere, we were just hoping to get lucky somewhere. We stopped into Indaco and they only had a table on the patio, which it was way too cold for, despite heaters, but the hostess said the bar was first come first served and it was wide open, so we gladly opted for that. A lot of times I'm skeptical of bar service since they have to make drinks and serve, but it didn't seem that busy so we took a chance. We got menus right away and our server Cory introduced himself. We asked for an app. recommendation and he recommended the Burrata which came with a flat bread with toasted cheese on top and some marinated olives. We also opted for the mushroom, caramelized onion and balsamic pizza. After our starter came, I realized that we were going to be eating another form of cheese and bread with the pizza, so I asked to also order the shaved spring vegetable salad. Although I liked the burratta and the pizza was really good, I think my favorite thing we ate that night was the salad. It was thinly shaved ribbons of spring vegetables like zucchini, radishes, asparagus, and some sunchokes, which I had never had. On the bottom of the plate was whipped ricotta and honey. It was amazing! So good. Their menu seems to be seasonal, so what is on their website may or may not be what they are serving on any given day. Even their pizzas change often, but I have to assume they will make you a pizza to your liking within reason. As far as I can tell, only the Margharita pizza is standard on the menu. Our experience at the bar was excellent. Cory was a great server. Attentive without being over bearing and he seemed to know the menu well. Prior to Indaco we had bought a few pastries a Macaroon Boutique, which we had with us at the restaurant. Cory noticed we had them and before we left he offered us one of a few coconut macaroons that had been shared with the staff earlier. It was so nice of him and really tasty too! We will definitely go back.

Omg. Their pizza is amazing. The atmosphere is totally cool. This was my first time here and I would definitely go back. Indaco is more of a date night kind of place. A little pricey, but definitely worth it. Can't explain how good the pizza was here. You have to see for yourself!

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

(2)Maria L.
(4)Cassie S.
(3)Carolyn M.
(5)Jake J.
(3)Kay K.
(5)Joe T.

(5)Emilie N.

(5)Susie G.

(5)Trevor L.
Good, but not great. And too expensive for what you get. The service was very good though.
(3)Mark W.

(5)Peter K.
Great staff and terrific food. The pastas are all outstanding as is the burrata. Love the loft vibe of the room. It's noisy in a downtown NY kind of way. There is also complimentary parking behind the restaurant. One of the best if not the best Italian restaurants in Charleston.
(5)nancy l.
(4)Matt G.
As good as it gets, in my opinion. Been here a few times now, and from the grouper to the handmade pasta to the flourless chocolate torta to the brick oven pizzas, this place serves up the best Italian I've ever had.
(5)M B.
Went with group of friends, and was offered to sit outside (40 degree weather), no thanks. Looks like a fake Italian restaurant anyways. There are way better places nearby.

(4)Ann R.

(5)Mark M.
Rather good fine Italian food. Carefully chosen ingredients and well crafted meals. The grouper appetizer was to die for. Good for a group of friends. Get together, order some appetizers, a couple pies to share and your in for a great evening.
(5)J W.
(5)Deb H.

(5)Drew E.
The food was pretty good but a bit overpriced in my opinion. A bit pretentious and self-proud.
(3)Louis p.
(5)Michael A.
Great food. Reasonable prices. While this may seem petty, I was disappointed there were no free refills on soda.
(4)Nicole B.

(5)Little L.
Perfection. One of my faves downtown. Awesome delicious. Menu changes seasonally. Brussels pout pizza was the best pizza ever!!
(5)Einah P.
(5)Bonni H.
The food is fantastic Service by Greer was great Passed the true test of attentiveness by never allowing the water glass to be empty. Very knowledgeable of menu items as well. Love the ambiance of the architecture.
(5)Heather A.
We stopped here purely by chance. Found a parking spot close by and that's what decided us. Amazing service from Trevor! Food was just as amazing too! The only thing wrong with this place is that it's over 1000 miles from my house!
(5)Kevin S.
(4)Whitney J.
Staff was very friendly and the atmosphere was great. The downside: the cuisine was terrible... The fancy Italian-ish menu options were lacking in authenticity and the favors in the dishes did not blend well together.
(1)Sophia T.

Delicious!
(5)Andrew N.
(5)Brit E.
(5)Michael F.
(5)Caitlin G.
(2)Grace N.
Went here on a slow winter night and did the chefs tasting menu. Everything was ok but nothing special. If you want authentic Italian, go to Lucca or bacco
(3)Mehmet T.
(5)Karan B.
(1)Nicole C.
(4)Morgan S.

Crazy loud, bad food.. nothing much to say

(3)Moe D.
Fantastic and fresh! Great atmosphere, excellent service and phenomenal food. The burrata and the snapper crudo are a must try!
(5)Mike L.
Great and very friendly service. Food was excellent but the portions were a bit small. That's the only reason I didn't give them five stars.
(4)Rick D.

Love it. Great service. The staff really knows the menu. Very reasonable wine list. The food is excellent and reasonably priced.

(5)Steve S.
Excellent, even during restaurant week... All of us were impressed, particularly with the wait staff, atmosphere, etc, Generous portions,,, you have to try the shrimp appetizer. We'll be back
(4)Kristy E.

(5)John D.
(4)Nataliya M.

(5)Virginia S.

(5)Glen R.
Some of the most authentic Italian food I've had outside of Italy. And this is coming from a guy in NY where's there's an Italian restaurant on every other street corner. Great staff, environment and bar. You cannot go wrong with either big groups or small. I've been to Indaco many times and have never been disappointed.
(5)Charlie P.
(5)Britt F.
Excellent meal, ambiance, and food - as always. The black pepper tagliatelle is a must and the peanut butter mousse is a decadently fancy peanut butter cup. Will be going back again and again.
(5)Frank G.

(5)Michael T.

Contemporary take on Italian food, which is a breath of fresh air. This place is great. Service, ambience, food, drinks, and desserts are all pretty amazing. Another Indigo Road success.
(5)Whitney S.
(5)Leah A.
Overall a good experience. We had the burrata and shrimp to start. The burrata was a little underwhelming; no seasoning, no vinegar, just tomatoes and "focaccia", which looked and tasted more like hushpuppies. A little confusing. For dinner, I had the Agnolotti and my fiancé had the Tagliatelli. Mine was out of this world. It had all of my favorite ingredients. My fiancé's dish was a little underwhelming. It tasted sortof' like carbonara, but not as rich. Would like to come back for pizza!

I never grow tired of what I consider to be Northern Italian cuisine. Delicious and elegant dishes keeps my taste buds amused. Extraordinary staff.
