Chinese Cuisine
The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.
Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.
There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.

I have eaten here twice and was sick each time. The first time, I had been sampling food for my wedding all day and me and the future father-in-law had a late night snack at this place. We both woke up sick (bloated stomach, nausea) the next day but figured since we had been cake tasting the previous day at 8AM, BBQ sampling, cocktail sampling - all for the upcoming wedding then we figured our sickness was probably due to those adventures and not the Chinese food. Fast forward a 3 months to the night before my wedding, the father-in-law again wanted some Chinese food and I so obliged. Hot Mustard was closest to our hotel, so again I walked over to order take out from this place about 10PM. I woke up at 3AM and vomitted my brains out. I was sick for two days and was miserable for my entire wedding day. I remember standing up giving my vows thinking I am about to vomit all over my wife's dress, boy I could not wait until that ceremony was over. People kept telling me it was just nerves but I knew better. What was even worse, the lady and her son operating the restaurant are some of the rudest people I ever came across while visiting Charleston. When I took my food and told the owner she was being kind of rude I left, she then proceeds to come from behind the counter and starts dropping F bombs on me in the middle of the street as I walked back to my hotel kiddie corner to the restaurant. I dared not to turn back around, she seemed angry enough to have a gun. I would avoid this restaurant at all costs or at least have an iron stomach and full bottle of pepto. If I could rate this place zero stars then I would.

Mmm. Greasy American Chinese food. Cheap & tasty. This is not fancy, but it tastes good, and the delivery driver is one of the nicest guys around. It's my go to place when I order Chinese.

Pretty nasty... I was disappointed when I ate Hot Mustard. I was really hoping with this one because charleston really needs a good chinese place. Got the sesame chicken... very typical. Chewy, bad quality chicken... sauce wasnt that good. Better than Chopsticks but not by much...

I consider myself quite an authority on heavy, greasy, gallbladder-failure- inducing Chinese food. I grew up with it as my comfort food like most folks around here had their Mac n cheese or pecan pie. IMHO Hot Mustard serves up better than average take-out for cheap and heaps of it. The pleasantly light heat of their (awesome) Gen Tso's becomes unbearable time you finish the huge plate of it. I recently tried the pork dumplings and they rivaled Vanessas' and Prosperity's in NYC. The delivery guys are always very friendly and it's free even in the rain. Do yourself a favor and don't ever visit the scary brick and mortar store- delivery is that easy. I love my Hot Mustard!

Got delivery for lunch and it was very mixed. The delivery was fast and efficient. Three of us ordered various items. I got the wonton soup and found it to be bland but not offensive. The thai shrimp was not good. Fried shrimp and steamed broccoli tossed in mayo. Ate three bites and tossed it. Still regretting those three bites. The jalapeno beef was "ok" according to my coworker. The pad thai was "pretty good" as per another co-worker. The portions are huge but not high quality.
