My (new!) husband and I had an absolutely fantastic honeymoon stay at the Cannonboro Inn. Our room and the house were very beautiful, homey and inviting. The innkeeper and owner were both awesome, were very free with great Charleston stories and advice on where to go and eat. We had some AMAZING breakfasts at the Inn: -Pimento and bacon scrambled eggs, grit cakes and biscuits out on the porch. Fresh fruit, coffee and fresh OJ. I freaking love breakfast. Omg. -Scrambled Eggs Benedict with ham on a croissant. Fresh fruit. I'm not a big Benedict fan, but the Cannonboro's sauce + ham made me very happy. -Peaches and cream crepes with blueberry sauce, with Canadian bacon on the side. This was like dessert for breakfast. I could have eaten 2. -Delicious sausage turnovers, covered in pimento cheese sauce and scallion scrambled eggs. Very tasty. Cannonboro isn't a far walk from the center of downtown Charleston, so we did a ton of walking on our trip. We loved collapsing into our comfy queen bed at night and waking up to the delicious smell of breakfast. The "happy hour" snack and wine in the afternoon almost ruined my dinner on a number of occasions. We were incredibly sad to leave and hope to return someday soon!

We stayed here for 1 night onApril 20th. At all costs do not stay in room 7. It is 33 steps and only room for single file and 1 bag at a time. The double bed sleeps 2 but 1 person has to scrunch down to the bottom of the bed in order to get out and not disturb his or her partner. This room should only accommodate 1 person ad should never be suggested for more than 1. Since there are no night lights we had to leave a light on all night in order to see the way to the door to go out to the hall where the bathroom was located.l. There is no way to put on makeup or shaven this room as the mirror is too low. As was the case with its' sister inn the Ashley Inn, there is no innkeeper after 8 PM.

The Cannonboro Inn was the first bed and breakfast I ever stayed in, and I recently went back to it, almost five years after my first stay. Both times, I was abolutely delighted with the experience. Bed and Breakfasts -- particuarly ones in old houses -- are inherently "quirky". Yes, it's easy to get frustrated with the placement of the bathrooms, but it's also good to remember that this is a house built well over a century ago. "Quirk" is part of the experience, and I simply don't think it's fair to deduct stars because the house isn't as conveniently layed out as the local Holiday Inn. I think the biggest challenge with the Cannonboro is the parking. They have parking next to the house for seven (or so) vehicles, but if any of those vehicles are large it'll get a bit crowded. Out Volkswagen tucked in nicely and was safe. The breakfasts at the Cannonboro are among the best we've ever had (and we stay at B&B's pretty regularly). The afternoon snacks are also a lovely treat, which we availed ourselves to with great peasure. The location is tough to beat; the neighborhood is quite safe and it's only a 15 minute walk to downtown Charleston. Some people have commented on the size of the upstairs room. Yes, it's a bit tiny ... but my wife and I fit in there no problem and actually enjoyed the experience. We'd happily stay here again the next time we come through Charleston.

I stayed here one night while interviewing at a nearby location. The staff was really friendly, and the lobby has snacks and wine placed out around 5:00 pm daily. My room had a king sized bed and a large bathroom with shower/tub combo. The place was older but very well kept. Decor was the same, keeping with the historic feel. I was also pleased to find a desktop fan in the closet, as I typically use one for white noise while I sleep. Overall, I had a great experience here, and would absolutely go back.

The room was very spacious and the beds and chairs were very comfortable. The piazza overlooking the fountain was a wonderful place to wind down at the end of the day. The location is great also. We were able to walk many places which was good considering how good the food is in Charleston. The breakfasts at the B&B were the best I've ever had at a B&B. The owner and the innkeeper were very helpful with information about Charleston, things to do and places to eat.

My husband and I have stayed at the Cannonboro Inn twice, and we've really enjoyed our stays there both times. We stayed in room #7 the first time, and room #5 the second time. If you can handle the quirkiness of a smaller room and having the (private) bathroom just outside the room, both rooms are at a really fantastic price point for Charleston. Although small, they have a lot of charm and character. The gourmet breakfasts are truly exceptional, as is the afternoon aperitif & snack service from 4-6 PM. Don't miss the afternoon snacks - there are multiple options, and they're all homemade. The room price also includes off-street parking, which is very convenient. If you plan to use the off-street parallel parking along the little lane that runs next to the house, you may want to back into the drive from the street. This means that you're parallel parking on the right side of the lane (as opposed to the left, which for most American drivers would feel less natural), and when you're pulling out, it's a little easier to judge whether traffic is coming or not. Some other reviewers have mentioned that noise was a problem in some of the rooms, but we didn't have any difficulty in either of these rooms, which face the back of the house. I docked the review one star for cleanliness - the bed covering and decorative bed pillows were visibly dirty in room #5. (I don't recall whether this was an issue the first time we stayed at the Cannonboro Inn.) Overall, given the charm of the accommodations, the caliber of the breakfast and snacks, and the inclusion of off-street parking, the Cannonboro Inn is a fantastic deal for Charleston.

Great experience staying at the Inn. Lynn is a fabulous innkeeper and makes delicious breakfasts. The style of the inn brings guests together to meet and chat over breakfast, or at the nightly(?) happy hour which is a nice way to learn about the area, and what to see and do. We were very happy with our stay and enjoyed Charleston greatly.

Had a great experience at the Cannonboro inn!!! The food was unbelievable, the staff quirky and accommodating and proximity to market and king street was close enough to walk. Will definitely stay there again if we find ourselves in Charleston
