Our stay at Andrew Pinckney Inn was better than anything I could have ever expected. We stayed in room 101 across the street from the main lobby. It was a large king room with high ceilings, old hardwood floors, a chandelier and plantation shutters. We also had the flower boxes outside the windows since our room faced the street, which was a pleasant touch. The bathroom was on the small side but the overall size of the room more than made up for it. Aaron at the front desk went out of his way to make sure that we were enjoying our stay in the hotel and the city in general. There was a mix up with some champagne we ordered and he was extremely responsive to the situation and we ended up with a second bottle of bubbles. The older gentleman with the black rimmed glasses in the lobby was also very nice and made some amazing restaurant recommendations. Finally, the young African-American valet was very attentive and we never had to wait more than a minute for our car to be pulled out. He also helped us load our luggage into our car when we left. On Sunday morning during our stay there was a problem with the wifi. I called the front desk to inform them of the issue. Later that evening we went to get some coffee from the lobby and the wifi was still not working. We asked the gentleman behind the desk if there was a known problem with the internet connection. He said that there had been some reports of it being out. We asked if anyone was working on the problem and if there was an estimate of when the service would be back up. He gave a very curt reply that he could call Comcast but that he wasn't working on it, to which I thought they should have called Comcast 8 hours ago. The wifi was back up a few hours later. We weren't there for the wifi but it does help save on our data plans. This was the only slightly unpleasant experience we had, but Aaron more than made up for this other gentleman's shortcomings. Overall, we would definitely stay at the Inn again and it is our top choice for lodging in Charleston.

The Good.... We had an issue with our room but the hotel staff took care of it and kindly accommodated us in the upmost respectful way possible. THIS is the only reason we will stay here again vs other establishments in the area. Rooms and the bathrooms are clean and amenities are great. The Bad and the Ugly... A/C unit is way too close to your bed in some rooms, so ask for an extra blanket in the hot summer months.

It was our first time in Charleston and this is exactly what we were looking for. The hotel was very old world Charleston, clean and comfortable. The service was fantastic. Next time we are in town we will be staying here again and its not just for the fresh baked cookies they put out in the lobby everyday at 2pm.

Great Spot! Great location! Nice people, and we got upgraded to a suite! Felt like I was taking a risk going with a non-"name-brand" hotel, but it was a bet that paid off for us! We loved the rooftop area for drinking wine and overlooking the city, the breakfast was nice-and included, and the location was perfect for walking everywhere. Staff was great and the cookies in the afternoon were absolutely delicious! I think we probably ate, like, 10 of them!

Loved the southern charm of this quaint hotel. From the paint colors to details like crown molding and exposed brick, this hotel is southern charm through and through. The staff wears adorable bow ties and are very friendly. I loved this hotel! The 4th floor terrace and breakfast was a nice bonus.

We had a very pleasant stay at this historic hotel in March. The absolute best thing was the location. It is on a quiet street a block away from the main shopping and touring streets. We walked to the water, King Street, the jail, and the market in just a few minutes each. The check-in process was quick and easy, and the concierge was very inviting. Our room was across the street from the main building in the restored home. Though the room was small by American hotel standards, it was not cramped for two plus suitcases. The room was beautiful. It had original hardwoods and a window looking out into what I imagine used to be a courtyard but is now a sitting room. I was worried that the walls would be too thin, but we didn't hear anyone come and go all night. Everything was very clean. The bathroom was small but tidy and had good toiletries. We went to the afternoon refreshments on the roof of our building and enjoyed all of the cheese, crackers, and fruit. We would definitely come back to the Andrew Pinckney!

This boutique hotel was fabulous! The rooms were clean and very comfortable. But the staff was the real prize here. EVERYONE working there were amazing! They all said hello, were friendly, and kind. Cheese and wine on the balcony was fantastic, and gave us a nice place to spend some time relaxing with our group who stayed here. It was a great place to see a little bit of the town for a higher point of view. The concierge was really helpful and fun. It was in walking distance to everything we wanted to see in the area, and I felt safe being there. I will absolutely be staying here again! Wonderful people!

I travel to Charleston a lot for work so it's important I get a good nights sleep but am also close to shopping and restaurants. This hotel is perfect for that. I am in walking distance to King St., East Bay St., across the street from the Market, and surrounded by restaurants. It's an older building with reclaimed wood floors and updated bathrooms. Staff was super friendly too. Free breakfast was included on the 4th floor where you can sit outside and take in the beautiful view. They also had complementary wine and cheese from 4-5pm! My room was smaller, but I didn't care, I was by myself, and working all day so all that mattered to me was a clean room and comfortable bed! I will definitely stay here again. Love it!

I stayed one night at the end of February and had a GREAT experience. My room was great -- very clean, comfortable, and with all the accouterments of a nice hotel (bathrobe, high-quality personal items, etc.). The front desk staff was excellent. He got me a last-minute reservation at the nearby Cru Cafe -- which I HIGHLY recommend (the fried green tomatoes are amazing). The hotel's location was perfect, located in the heart of the historic area of downtown, but on a side street with little traffic. No problems comfortably walking to all of the wonderful landmarks of beautiful Charleston.

My boyfriend and I were visiting Charleston for the first time for his Birthday. I choose Andrew Pinckney Inn based on the reviews and location. We weren't disappointed by our choice in the Inn. When we arrived Friday at 11pm we were greeted by the staff. The check in process was quick and we were helped with our bags. We choose to use the valet service while we were in town, because this was our first visit we didn't want the hassle of trying to find parking. When we needed the car we called down and the car was always pulled up front and ready for us when we wanted it. We were upgraded from a queen room to a king suite upon our arrival. The room was very nice. The bed was comfortable. My only complaint was the bathroom floor had what looked like a wine spill that was never cleaned up during our stay. The Inn's location was perfect. We walked everywhere except the days we went to the beach. There are a lot of options for bars and restaurants. Highly recommend the Gin Joint for drinks. Each Morning we ate the continental breakfast on the 4th floor. Its better then most I've had before. Biscuits and gravy, mini quiches, pastries, bagels, fresh fruit, cereal, oatmeal, juice, coffee, tea. There is a nice rooftop area to sit that was heated for the winter months that was a good spot to enjoy your breakfast and the view. The Inn also provided wine and cheese in the evenings for 4-5, we didn't get to experience this while we were in town. Overall this place was great. We would stay here again and would recommend it to friends and family.

Outstanding hotel! All staff, from the front desk guys to the valet to the maintenance workers I met in the elevator were friendly and courteous Rooms were spotless, and maid service excellent. This is one of the best locations in the downtown area, within walking distance to nearly everything. Front desk staff know EVERYTHING, and answered all questions immediately without having to check for info. Highly recommended!

Very beautiful bright room on the 4th floor of the newer building (across the way from the reception). I feared the smell of horses, per other reviewers, but this was never an issue, even in the heat of august. Cookies, biscotti, lemonade, iced water, and hot tea in the reception. Free Wine hour on the rooftop terrace provides cheese /crackers, nuts, grapes, and red or white wine. Breakfast on the rooftop terrace was ok... Cheese eggs, hard boiled eggs, yogurt, cereal, fruit, pastries/bagels. Overall would definitely return.

I wanted to stay somewhere I could easily walk to and from the historic downtown area and Andrew Pinckney Inn came up. Since I was booking pretty lay I didn't have a lot of choices and this place was a bit more than I was hoping to spend but I decided to give it a go. The folks in the check in lobby were very friendly. Check in time is around 3pm but sometimes they have the rooms available earlier from what I understand. When I came in the fellow at the front desk let me know that he didn't think they'd be able to get my room ready early but took my number to call me when the room was ready. The lobby had cookies, biscotti, coffee and tea and comfortable couches. I stayed in a room with a single queen or twin sized bed. You can tell the rooms have been here for some time. They have character that usually has to be emulated in many other hotels. The room had all the amenities one normally expects. I found the room to be comfortable though not without it's faults which likely are due to the age of the inn. For instance there are not many outlets in the room. The only available power outlet in my room was in the bathroom. I ended up unplugging the in room iPod clock and using that plug for charging my devices. The other possible age related issue was soundproofing. While I did not find the place loud at all sounds from outside leaks in easily. The continental breakfast is way better than what most places provide. As an example, the first day had scrambled eggs with good cheese and bacon, biscuits and gravy, muffins, croissants, cereals, yogurt, coffee, tea, milk, juice and coffee. And you can eat on the balcony, in an area in the middle of the inn with nice chairs or back in your room. The location is a huge plus. Most of the things I decided to check out were within 20 minute walks with many things being much closer. If nothing else this feature alone makes the place worth the price.

Absolutely lovely stay - and I'm in hotels quite a bit. Everyone we interacted with from the valet to the maid was very pleasant and helpful. Breakfast was nicer than standard hotel fare. The St Phillip's suite is worth it if you can afford it and find a time it's available. I highly recommend this hotel and I don't say that lightly.

Amazing staff! We stayed in Charleston for 4 days and stayed in the Andrew Pinckney on Thursday and Sunday. We had family in town so staying in the family hotel on Friday and Saturday was a must. The reason I mention this is that I stayed in two rooms in the Andrew Pinckney, as well as another hotel, so I feel I can compare them well. Our first room was on the first floor and had a limited view, but the location, bed and staff more than made up for it. We enjoyed the breakfast on the 4th floor terrace and although there wasn't any bacon, we still had an enjoyable meal and it was a great way to start the day. As you can see from the other reviews the location is great. I found that for the location the price couldn't be beat a truly felt like I found great value in the hotel. The valet/door guys were extremely nice and helpful. The parking situation is limited in Charleston, but these guys do a great job of making you forget that (not that way in all of the other hotels). However, the thing that made me want to write this review is that a gentleman named Sandy, I believe he is the manager, notified me that I had left a suit in the room. I told him I was on my way to another hotel and would try and swing by the following day to pick it up, but he said that he was driving by and would drop off the suit to my hotel. I was blown away by that service. First, most hotels would even call, but to then drive it to my location? That's the kind of service that makes me want to do better at my job. The hotel is run by good people and it flows down through the staff. The only negative I found (and in an attempt to prove I'm being fair and balanced) is that I did have an issue with outlets on my second night. We got a third floor room with a great view, but the number of outlets was minimal. I'm sure if I asked the staff would have put one in (I kid, I kid). However, if you want to stay in a historic building that's the sacrifice you have to make. Plus, you're in Charleston ... get off your computer! Great stay, great people, good amenities, wonderful value. I'll stay here again for sure.

Nice Hotel Centrally located Staff is very attentive BUT Walls are thin-- noisy with every little door closing or movement Buffet was Ok.. view is great.... fruit tasted like canned , biscuits were very dry, bagels tasted frozen Rooms need more outlets available for todays electroniccs Oh and I failed to mention I saw a roach climbing the wall in the bathroom-- Yes.. I did kill it. If you like old and rustic this is it.. I would have preferred old feel with modern conveniences

I spent 6 nights here and I got exactly what I wanted and the some. I wanted to stay in a "boutique" historic inn while in Charleston, and the Andrew Pinckney is just that. I stayed in the restored home section, built in 1840, and even has the original wood floors! The room was small, but with all modern amenities. It felt like I was staying in a home. And all of the staff is fabulous! I could not have asked for better service. I would recommend this place to anyone and I would stay here again!

My favorite part of staying at Andrew Pinckney was the fact that it definitely wasn't haunted. Quaint, historic feeling, but unarguably -not- haunted. When you're visiting a city as rich in history and thus, spiritual action, as Charleston, it's nice to know your bone-resting sanctuary is void of phantom life (or "unlife" as it were). With my semi-extensive travel through the Southeast I'm always on the lookout for spots that reflect the local culture and weave the vibrancy of the local lore but also feature the moden-day comforts like plush bedding, flat screen TV, and an iPod charging station. Pinckney Inn catered to all of these needs. The AC unit proved to be the only thing less than fantastic about the room. Featuring its own handheld remote, the temperature and settings were a little funky to operate and if you consider yourself un-tech savvy, you'll likely need to call in reinforcements to get that thing going. My king sized bed was fluffy and the sheets hit my weary bones with a puppy's softness. While I couldn't check in until close to 3, I converted the comfortable lobby into my own couch-laden workstation. Plus, there's never-ending free lemonade and you'll find free cookies waiting for you in the late afternoon. The hotel is conveniently situated in the heart of the historic district action and you'll find extensive dining and shopping options well within walking distance. Prefer a horse and carriage, you're lucky, the sable is just around the corner. I'll certainly return on my next visit to Chucktown.

I absolutely loved the staff when I stayed at Andrew Pinkney Inn. I booked last minute through Priceline and got a great deal, the people at the front desk were helpful in suggesting dinner spots and the valet guy was super nice and also made recommendations on where to eat, shop and visit during my stay. And he carried my bags up to my room. I stayed one night in the building across the street from the main part, where they also serve breakfast in the mornings. The only thing I'll mention, which I didn't think about until I was pulling up to the hotel, is that I'm pretty certain this place is haunted. And I am DEATHLY afraid of ghosts, but in the "I have to know more and explore all things haunted" kinda way. I would have thoroughly enjoyed being a tiny bit frightened had I not been ALONE, but I survived. I refused to google to see if it was haunted until after I left, which was a good idea since I did find several articles, including on their own site. The room / bed was super comfy, but due to the stress of "Is it haunted, is it not??" all night, I pretty much tossed and turned and had my eyes peeled much of the night. One thing I will say though is that my bathroom door absolutely DID move at one point that night and hit the wall, of that I am certain. All hauntings aside, I did enjoy my stay and would definitely stay again - preferably when someone stays with me. The hotel is nice, the staff is amazing, the breakfast is delicious and the walk is nice to the other areas of town.

We stayed there this past week and will be back. Staff was so friendly and loved our room. The people that work here care about you and try to make your stay as pleasant as possible. Had a good breakfast and wine and cheese in the evening. We will never stay anywhere else. We stayed in room 401, big room right near the terrace.

I stayed here recently, the staff was incredible! Andre at the front desk was incredibly helpful resolving a double booking issue with Hotels Tonight. The valet staff were fantastic, very prompt and courteous. My only complaint is with the A/C, the thermostats won't allow you to select a temperature lower than 72. The temperature in my room was actually 77, it become very stuffy and uncomfortable, quickly. The rooms were very nice, snug yes but given the age of the property understandable. Overall I enloyed my stay, though I'm not sure if I would stay again, as the stuffy room did not allow for much rest. My room was registered under Dave Johnson, I stayed in room 101. Thanks

We recently stayed in the corner room 114 by the valet parking service. We heard continual conversations and door slams at all hours of the day and night. Since we were street side I can attest that there is garbage pickup nightly in downtown Charleston and that around 5 am the street cleaner comes up and down the street 2-3 times. Needless to say this is probably one of the noisiest rooms I have ever stayed in. There is a happy hour from 4-5. There is one bottle of red and one bottle of white wine. When they are gone, you are out of luck there is no more. So go early. We also witnessed an employee opening the wine bottle with her teeth. Right out in front for all to see. Makes ya wonder what happens to the food and beverage behind closed doors! On a positive note the room was clean, the sheets were amazing and the staff was helpful. We had a broken toilet the first night and it was immediately fixed the next day.

So happy we chose to stay here. Very cute, historic hotel right in the heart of Downtown Charleston. We arrived a few hours before check in time, and they accommodated us and had a room ready within 30 minutes. I loved that we were in walking distance to so many great restaurants and bars. Our room was small, but perfect for just the two of us. Very nice bathroom with updated fixtures, and the bed was amazing. Our room felt very homey and comfortable. Would recommend!

My Fiancé and I absolutely loved everything about Andrew Pinckney Inn. To start, you can't beat the location if you want to be in downtown Historic Charleston. It's a block from the Market and a ton of wonderful restaurants. As well as, all the carriage rides start on the street over from here. The continental breakfast on the upper deck of the hotel was wonderful. I loved waking up, going up there and sitting on the deck enjoying the food and sun. I love the lobby of the hotel, I would love for my family room to have that historic but modern look someday. My Fiancé was really excited about the drinks (water, coffee, hot tea, lemonade) and the cookies they had in the lobby all day long. We opted for one of the smaller rooms since we were only in town for a long weekend and were only in the room to sleep. It was small but quaint and comfortable. I can't say enough about how friendly and helpful ALL of the staff was, from being greeted in the lobby to the maids and the lady upstairs for breakfast. Whenever they saw you they saw us they would wish a wonderful day. I can't wait to go back next year! We normally stay at different hotels (to get different experiences) but Andrew Pinckney Inn is definitely a place I'll go back to.

The other two reviews described this place perfectly. While our room was a little snug, the comfortable bed, updated interior and experience of staying in a building from 1840 made up for the lack of space. The staff was incredible. I stay in 30+ hotels a year and this hotel's crew really left a positive impression on me. The location was also ideal - park your car at check-in and forget about it until check-out. You're right in the middle of the best of Charleston. The breakfast was also much better than I anticipated. Usually continental breakfasts are lousy, but this was quite good and had much more substantial dishes than just bagels and muffins. The 4th floor terrace was a nice place to eat in the morning before you start your day.

My fiance and I had a very nice stay here. It is very close to all of the restaurants, the market and many other great attractions within Charleston. The room was very clean and large. We were there in Fall 2012, and the place was under pretty serious renovation, so I imagine it is even nicer now.

I've stayed a few different places in Charleston. Hotels and campgrounds alike, but Andrew Pinckney Inn really set the bar this time around. It was the perfect spot for our short getaway and these guys hit all the right notes to glean a 5-star rating. We pulled in long before check-in, but they were still accommodating. Concierge was gracious enough to let us handle all of the details for our room around 11am (check-in is 3pm) and even let us park our car in valet for the time being. If you've ever been to Chuck Town, parking is really difficult for out-of-towners. Lots of residential parking only where parking passes are required. These guys gave us total peace of mind with our vehicle. Huge props for that. They also took our bags and placed them in our room without us having to worry about anything at all. Second, the kindhearted staff at the desk was so awesome. Helpful, funny, and gracious to have us stay with them. They upgraded us to an amazing room unannounced. They just smiled at me and said thank you for staying with us! Unreal. The room was just as unreal. So big with an upstairs bed room, 1.5 baths, and an awesome patio deck with great views of Bay St. I didn't quite like the bed, as it was HUGE and kind of stiff but, hey, I'm not complaining about the upgrade! I'm just a soft bed kinda dude. The complimentary continental breakfast was nice, too. Nothing amazing, but a nice snack to tide you over until lunch. These guys have my vote. If ever we're looking to stay in a hotel again, these guys are the place for us. Great location (just off of Market near the straw market) and a stones throw from some Charleston go-tos. Done and done.

Great location, walk to all resturants and shops. the hotel itself is ok, the room was cute but very tiny, you can't even fit tow people in the bathroom. The breakfast service was great since it's so expensive to eat around there. For a short stay, I don't mind to go back just because it is so convenient to get to every where. but if we are going for more than 3 days. I will find somewhere bigger.

Beautifully decorated and designed rooms with paper-thin walls. High class bathrooms with cheap motel toilet paper and tissues. Cozy king bed faces tiny flat screen. Challenge your mind with two outlets in the entire room. This hotel (like this city) will charge you more and deliver less, all with a smile.

This place was PERFECT if you're looking to stay in downtown Charleston near the straw market and King Street. We had a little townhouse with great master bedroom and balcony patio plus a downstairs sitting room. Walking distance from all the great restaurants and shopping and all the horse-drawn carriage tours are right there too. Plus the bedding was really comfortable, soft and clean and the staff was nice and helpful. Nice continental breakfast upstairs on the patio deck with biscuits, bagels and most other things you'd expect.

All in all for the price paid, this was a great place to stay. Pros: - Location. You can see the Market right down the road from here. Horse carriage tours are nearly next door. Centrally located within a mile of most everything downtown. Perfect location. - Valet service. Driving and parking in Charleston sucks to say the least. Being able to pull up and toss 'em the keys is perfect. AND, we stayed 3 days/2 nights, they only charge for the 2 nights. A+ in my book. - Ambiance. Historical Charleston, historical building. This is a lovely place. - Continental breakfast. OH MY GOODNESS. So good, and much more robust than your typical FREE continental breakfast at other places. Plus, you get to sit on the 4th floor terrace overlooking a good chunk of Charleston. Just fantastic. Cons: - Air conditioning. Oh, the AC worked great, mind you. But it's either an all-or-nothing type of system. And since there's no fan in the room, when the AC was off it got stuffy pretty quickly. - Fan in bathroom didn't work. There was one, just didn't work. Bathroom got really warm at night or after a shower. Also is nice to have for privacy when using the restroom, but no dice. - Very few outlets. Yes, yes, I know, on vacation so shouldn't be on these things anyway. But all we had were 2 phones and 1 laptop to charge. Fortunately they have an iPhone (older connection only) alarm/dock which we used, plus unplugged a lamp and used another outlet. Maybe just have a power strip somewhere useful? - Shower floor & bathroom floor had no division. Like, the water could just flow out under the curtain into the rest of the bathroom. BUT, I don't know if I can fault this anymore as I recently learned that this is actually a handicap-accessible room. Don't know why we were in here, but it happened. - No window. Again, older historical building and such. But I would just like a window view of Charleston :) The pros definitely outweigh the cons though. Maybe if we had one of the traditional queen rooms next time some of the cons would disappear. But I would give this place more business in the future.

Location was great, staff were as everyone else has said, wonderful. The only complaint, and it's a major one, was the tiny room with no closet or functional sitting area. With bags In the room, it was VERY cramped with the ironing board right in the room. We would not recommend this place when there are chain hotels with much better accommodations as centrally located. We we're expecting a beautiful, unique, boutique hotel and got a cheap hotel room.

First off, GREAT location. Easy walking distance to just about everything downtown. If you are looking for location, I would recommend. I did not find the staff quite as helpful as everyone else. We used the concierge a number of times and quickly came to realization that Yelp would give us better info. The breakfast choices were so-so, at best, and the roof top terrace a little cramped. We like to enjoy a longer breakfast but felt like we should get up so other guests could sit down. Ending on a positive note, the cookies in the afternoon are great - perfect after a day walking the old city.

I stayed here for my first visit to Charleston based off of TripAdvisor reviews and I wouldn't hesitate staying here every visit. We had an inside room (no windows to outside) but I think I actually preferred this because the room was pitch dark at night which made for a perfect nights sleep. The breakfast buffet was nice....im not really a breakfast food type of person to begin with but my husband is and he really enjoyed the food. You can go out onto the balcony at night which was pretty awesome to just relax and look out onto the city. The location was great...walking distance from everything we wanted but far enough that I didnt notice street noise. The staff was very friendly and I felt right at home. The only reason I didnt give it a 5 is because there was an odd smell during a couple of the days which could have been from the way the wind was blowing from the paper mills that are outside of the city so its not really the hotel's fault but depending on how often the smell comes to the area it could be a deterrent.

ZERO STARS!!! I flew all the way from Los Angeles, CA for a vacation with my mom in South Carolina. On the drive down to Charleston, our car engine caught on fire. As it was a Sunday, there were no repair shops open, and we were stranded. I called Andrew Pinckney Inn at 12:30 pm to let them know our car broke down, we had no way to make it to Charleston for our reservation that night and to find out if my mom could get a gift certificate for a future date for the night we'd already paid for. The employee told me in a discourteous tone that I'd have to call Expedia because we booked through them. I immediately called Expedia, and they told me they would call Andrew Pinckney Inn and request a refund. The Expedia representative told me that no one was answering the phone at the hotel. I told him I'd just been on the phone with them explaining we'd broken down. The Expedia representative put me on hold again and finally got someone at Andrew Pinckney Inn to answer the phone but said he had to leave a voicemail for the manager requesting the refund. Expedia told me to call back in 2 hours. At 2:30 pm I called Expedia and they let me know that Andrew Pinckney Inn had refused to refund us. I plan to dispute the charges with our bank and file a complaint with the BBB. It was bad enough to fly all the way across the country to have our car break down, deal with unplanned for repair expenses, have our vacation ruined and be stranded but to then be charged for a night at a hotel where we never stayed because our car broke down??? I am shocked at the unethical, greedy actions of this business and that they would be so despicable as to take advantage of patrons already in a bad situation at Christmas! The LEAST they could've done is offer a gift certificate for my mom to come back and stay some other time. As a Southern transplant from California, I am disgusted. This is absolutely NOT what southern hospitality is about and this hotel should be ashamed.

Had a great time in Charleston..the best thing was coming back to the Inn. After walking around the city. The inn is in a excellent location. The rooms were very nice. Decent breakfast on a beautiful terrace overlooking the city. We will be back!

Comfortable hotel very convenient to Meeting, Market, East Bay and King Streets. Published rate is approx. $200 but usually I am able to book it online for approx $150. I have stayed here 3-4x and have no complaints. It is clean and, though might seem a bit no-frills to some due to bath towels that are a bit sandpaper-y and a lack of glamorous bath gels , comfortable and charming. I have had rooms that run the gamut in size, from a tiny one to huge ones with hot-tubs in them. The complimentary breakfast is a nice spread (mini-whole wheat bagels, nice assortment of teas, etc.) and the staff is always nice and helpful. Plus, free internet and I think I have always gotten free parking behind the lobby or in the lot across the street. Recommended.

We stayed in the handicapped room and it was very spacious. The rooms are clean and nice and the location is awesome! Staff was helpful and breakfast was super. Having wine on the top deck area made it a great value for us!

This inn is a perfect location to visit historic Charleston. It's located on a quiet side street, in between the two main drags, and is in walking distance to pretty much the whole dowtown and the Battery. The staff was very courteous...we got to check in early, and they were helpful with a taxi the one time we needed one. The lobby is so quaint and makes you feel like you're in someone's home rather than a typical hotel. We had the pleasure of seeing it decorated for Christmas too. And the spread of coffee, tea, cocoa (with GOOD fix-ins like marshmallows and heathbar), and cookies was pretty sweet. The breakfast was nice, though the time we were there it was way too cold to sit outside and enjoy the terrace. But I'm sure on a nice day it would be quite charming. Luckily they have an atrium area on the second floor with more seating to eat inside. Our guest rooms were nice, very basic, but had what we needed. And I believe they actually use fabric softener on the towels! This is the first hotel I've ever been to where the towels didn't feel like sandpaper. So major props for that. The only thing I would say to be mindful of is that if you're easily annoyed by noise, this might not be the place for you. It's an old building, so the soundproofing isn't up to par. We had 1st floor rooms and could hear some street traffic in the morning when a few big trucks parked nearby, and you can definitely hear anyone in the hallways (maids, other guests, etc) like they were practically in your room. But you get used to it. Rates were VERY reasonable for this type of accomodation. While I'm sure they are pricey in whatever their peak season is, it was right on the same price level as a cheap hotel when we went. And you would never get the feeling you were in a cheap hotel here. I really felt like this place was a little hidden gem that we were lucky to find.

The Andrew Pinckney Inn was ground central for my sister's wedding weekend. Every room but one (those poor souls!) was a member of my family or another guest of the wedding, and the folks at Andrew Pinckney took great care of all of us. The inn is relatively small and is comprised of two parts. There are a couple of rooms and "townhomes" on the side of the street where the lobby is located, while the main inn is actually across the street. In the main building there's a rooftop patio and and the hallways all open up to a small atrium/seating area. The rooms are small but well appointed and comfortable. This place is charming and may not have all of the creature comforts that certain people like, but it's well priced and historic: very Charleston. The staff at the Andrew Pinckney was fantastic. They let us check in early (and out late) and helped us with all of our stuff, even though there's not a true bellman here. They even removed the beds from one of the rooms so we could create a "hospitality suite" for all of the guests to gather/consume massive quantities of alcohol. They provided a continental breakfast each morning off of the patio and had cookies, lemonade, and coffee available in the lobby. The location of the Inn is fantastic: just one block from the market and a short walk to the Battery. Be warned that there is a small stable in the bottom of the main building so if you're afraid of large horses or super sensitive to their smell, you may want to avoid being in that building (although if you hate the smell of horses, Charleston may not be the best place for you to begin with). I'd definitely recommend the Andrew Pinckney Inn if you're looking for the true Charleston experience.

We loved our stay here! We were visiting from CA with our one year old, when we arrived to check in we discovered they had upgraded us to a suite with a roof top deck! Talk about a nice surprise! It was wonderful to have more room for everyone to move around! We would definitely stay here again! And the cookies were great!
