Fatz Cafe of Boiling Springs has went way downhill. My mother and I just attempted to eat lunch there. She ordered the calabash chicken with green beans and I ordered the salmon ceasar salad. Her chicken was too spicy for her to eat and her green beans were shriveled, cold and burnt (the waitress noted the black green beans we had separated on the plate). We sent this back and my mom didn't order anything else. My salmon was dry, rubbery, and way overcooked. It was also way overpriced. This place used to be much better but we overheard a waitress telling someone that they have a lot of turnover because the management is hard to work with so that may explain why it has went downhill so quickly.

They brought in a new owner/operator, Munday, and remodeled the restaurant. Now, this is a great place to eat. The food and the service are really good. Tasty ribs - get the Carolina Gold sauce! Amazing poppy seed rolls.

FATZ Cafe... where do I begin? I have not eaten at this particular FATZ in years... must say it still holds up. Everyone who's eaten there knows about its "Calabash Chicken" and free, addicting rolls! During my last dine here (11/7/2014), I had an amazing waitress named "Chloe". Very attentive, extremely apologetic and forgiving. Service speed was average. It was Friday, so what else would I expect? But who can't forget the free rolls! Still yummy! As always, with every FATZ trip I've made, I went for the Calabash Chicken with its unique breading, dipped them in honey mustard. Pretty much tastes like heaven! For an appetizer, we had the cheese fries... these were just okay. The fries themselves aren't really that great. They're certainly edible, but they're a bit too potatoey for my likings. I also had a salad that was pretty decent, but no real remarks on the salad. :\ You really don't need an appetizer here at FATZ. The rolls are plentiful! If you have the appetizer and the entree, be prepared to feel like complete crap with a headache. :P From a Spartanburg local's perspective, FATZ is worth trying at least a few times before you die!

Ok not like most restaurants . the rolls are amazing Service is great. The calabash chicken was fried to perfection. Same class of restaurant as Applebee's but for the price, this place is a much better value.

I had an amazing meal! The calabash chicken was unreal! I am a business traveler from out of town and Kevin the taller gentleman with the glasses and tattoo on his arm showed nothing but the best hospitality a guest could ask for! Someone promote this guy! Great recommendation and service! - Keegan

A few Months ago my husband, kids and myself ate here. The waitress was amazing. The food was ok but the waitress did everything she could to fix it! When I tried to pay the bill my card would not go through. I tried showing them I had money in the bank and would go get cash. The Manger explained it was probably the machine because they had the problem earlier and told me it was on the house!! Amazing..We have ate there several times and now choose fatz instead of applebee's just because of the customer service is absolutely amazing!!

The original Fatz. Always good service and food. Portions are large and always end up with a take home container. THE ROLLS ARE TO DIE FOR. Delicious. Addicting.

My waitress/bartender made it quite obvious she did not want to serve us. I ordered calabash chicken, side salad, and fries. My salad dressing tasted funny, so I asked her to bring me another- she took a while and proceeded to tell me it is all the same. Food was okay did not wow me.

I always enjoy my visit to this location. The staff is friendly and efficient. It has a welcoming family atmosphere, but children aren't running wild. There is low lighting intimate enough for a date, business meeting, or family gathering. The prices are always reasonable for the amount food you get. They have a great menu variety, but if you get indecisive, you can't go wrong with their famous calabash chicken. I like how they make accommodations to most orders-- substitutions and subtractions are usually never a problem. They even try to accommodate when it comes to drinks. I'm from the area and Fatz is one of our "go-to" places. I have yet to be disappointed.

I get the Broccoli and cheese, side of meatballs. The wait staff is always friendly usually extremely busy, worn out. The entrance is plain and dark. The inside is on the dark side and only have Sports on the tv, but food is good.

Service was like we were eating at a friends house and the food was incredible. I strongly recommend anything with Calabash chicken. I had a calabash chicken BLT. It came on Texas toast and was heavenly. They brought us a free apple cobbler sample since we were from out of town....if by some strange act of god you have room left for dessert.... That was amazing too!!

Stopped in here on a road trip from Texas. It's a typical American grill type of restaurant. The menu has a wide selection burgers, steaks, fried chicken tenders (which they are apparently famous for), and seafood. I had grilled shrimp and vegetable skewers. The shrimp were adequate size (not huge but not tiny) and cooked well. Overall a good stop while traveling.

Went here for dinner when traveling for work. All in all very happy. You can tell the staff holds customer service as a priority. They have a nice bar area for those who like to eat alone and watch some sports. The chicken was fantastic and the wine was a good pour! Will definitely return!!!

We had never been to Fatz before but we will definitely be back. Wide variety is offered in the menu which was great because we had no idea what we had a taste for. So, we ended up doing a buffet of appetizers and tried the stew. We sat at the bar booths and had Lee as a server which we will ask for again she was prompt, knowledgeable, and very sweet. Fatz is worth a try and it's priced well but, come hungry the portions are large.

I went to Fatz blindly because I saw a lot of cars at one just before we stopped at this one in Spartanburg. We were greeted as newcomers and treated very well by Allie, the server, and Vera, the manager on duty. They went out of their way to make our first Fatz's experience memorable with the samples and dessert treats. The entrees we had were delicious and plentiful with a box to take-away. I would definitely stop here again on my I-85 journey to or from N.C. I'll be dreaming of the peanut butter pie after the Lite grilled Salmon meal with a big sweet potato that was so moist a la naturale. Wish we had a Fitz closer in Marietta, Ga.

I stopped here on New Year's Eve 2010. The food was good. The service was good. The only problem was there was too much food. A very pleasant experience. If I am return to the area, I would definitely stop again.

We were welcomed as soon as we entered the restaurant for the first visit ever. My 87 y/o Mum wanted a "baked potato for lunch" after a dr appt so my husband did an internet search and found FATZ. He called me from home and suggested we go try it. We'd never been there before and it was a delightful experience! The food was excellent. Mum and I each had a baked potato, piping hot, perfectly cooked. She had the tomato bisque soup and I had the side salad. She LOVED the soup! She had the peach cobbler for dessert and declared it "absolutely delicious" and it was so large she took some of it home with her. Sarah was our server, very friendly, spot on with our order and kept our glasses filled. The manager, Jan Erik, stopped by and gave us the history of the restaurant. When he learned it was our first visit to FATZ he brought us a sample of the Calabash chicken. Oh my, it was the BEST chicken we have EVER had! Our experience at FATZ was so positive we will be visiting again. My husband insists on going with us next time!

We had heard of Fatz when we moved to the area and decided to give them a try. Very nice appearing restaurant. We were greeted at the door and seated promptly. Our waitress seemed a bit distracted, but she came back to check on us a couple of times and seemed friendlier each time, so maybe she was just rushed. My husband ordered a cheeseburger and I had the Calabash Chicken wrap. Both were very good! They came with fries and these were fresh, hot & tasty. It's a bit more expensive than we normally spend on lunch; each entrée was $9 or $10, but we got a very good lunch.
