BAD BAD BAD!! If I can prevent just one bride from choosing this company, then me writing this review was COMPLETELY worth it! Early August 2014 I met with the head planner to discuss plans for my wedding October 2015. I came OVERLY prepared with wedding binder in hand, any question she had I would be sure to answer it. I wanted this process to go as smoothly and stress free as possible, so I did most of the leg work and decision making prior to meeting with her. She loved my ideas and completely WOWED me! August 10th we received a lovely wedding proposal detailing my inspirations for this beautiful wedding. She stated that she "wanted us to be completely happy with every aspect of our wedding". She said there would be monthly conference calls. And that made me feel confident that she could take on this wedding without problem, I was fully confident in her, her skills, her up-front excitement for my wedding and felt she was going to do an amazing job. On August 17th we signed a contract with her along with a hefty $5000 deposit well in advance of an October 3rd wedding date. On August 26th I noticed a random charge on my American Express card in the amount of over $8700 from Southern Graces. I then of course contacted Bethany. I was told by her that she had recently upgraded her software system and this must have been a glitch. I was told that she would take care of it and make sure it was reversed. Over 2 weeks later and after much frustration....Sept. 11th I contacted her again since nothing was resolved. It was at that point after many calls and emails I contacted American Express myself and the refund was made. Her response to me letting her know I handled it was "Great, I'm glad you were able to get it taken care of!" On August 8th the photo for Save-the-Date was sent to her. During our initial visit she said the photo could by "photo shopped" to improve any imperfections. After several text and emails on August 20th she assured me that the proofs would be ready for her approval later that day. One month later and we still had nothing from her. On Sept 11th I received several proofs that were clearly unacceptable, no photo shopping done and lacked any creativity on her part. The cards were strictly the photo I sent with some verbiage added at the bottom. It was at that point that I found a web site, designed and ordered them myself. The cards were then sent to her for addressing and mailing by October 3rd. Many of them were found to be illegible, I still to this day can't read what mine says on it!! We asked for her to send the remaining 50+ invites back to me, but still have not received them... and its December 26! On October 16th a conference call was scheduled by her to discuss several topics regarding the flowers, ceremony, booklet ect. only to be postponed by her at the last minute. We rescheduled for Oct. 23rd at 6pm. I personally made several calls to her number, provided by her, promptly at 6pm that evening. I even texted but no response. Around 7pm I received a text from you stating that she had tried to call. She also stated that she had been in your office during that time but that her cell phone does not work well in HER office. These reasons listed above plus MANY others have caused us to look else where for a new planner, we have still yet to hear anything back from her since October. I just want to warn any girls looking in the area for planners to be forewarned, I do not know if this was just my situation and luck or if this is how the company runs. Please make sure to read ALL reviews and do as much research as you can prior to booking a planner!!! Also fyi, I did receive my $5000 deposit back but only because I contacted American Express myself and was able to reverse the charge. So should you run into any issues with money make sure to contact the bank itself to resolve any problems!! :) Hope this information is helpful!!

Our waitress was Ashley. She gave us some really good recommendations. I got the crab sausage and shrimp that was wrapped in wonton and deep fried. It came with a sweet sauce and some thinly sliced marinated cucumbers. It was delicious. My wife had the wedge salad. She said it was the best she had ever had. She had the filet and said it was also wonderful. I had the scored flounder. It was really good. I would rather have had the sauce, they put on the fish, on the side. For dessert we had the trio. We did not like the banana pudding. My wife loved the strawberry cake. I thought the chocolate creme bruLee was absolutely fantastic. We highly recommend Southern Graces Bistro!

Excellent food and service. Hey catered our wedding and it was outstanding! Love this low country cuisine with modern choices!

This is a difficult review to write. The food is okay, not great but not bad. I love the atmosphere and the authentic southern menu.... BUT, sadly the dishes are not executed as well as they could be. They always bring their house popovers w/ strawberry butter, which are admittedly hot, steamy, and delicious. The She Crab soup had nice flavor and big lumps of crab, but was also lumpy in general - the consistency was not smooth or creamy and gave me the impression that it'd been reheated from a week-old bucket. The fried green tomatoes were delicious!! Nicely fried, with creamy grits and an interesting red cabbage garnish that added a sweet tang to each bite. Yum! I also had the Cobb Salad w/ crispy, perfectly fried shrimp. As you can see from my photo, the salad was served in a creative tower, which looked pretty, but proportionally ended up making it too full of tomatoes and cheese eggs without a good balance of lettuce, etc. Lastly, I had the chocolate creme brûlée, which had a wonderful rich flavor but was served cold. The waitress was sweet and attentive, so no problems with the service. Ambiance is beautiful!

I was disappointed with this place (for Sunday brunch). - Food in the buffet was cold and average. I had the French toast, bacon and sausage, all of which was cold and bland. I had also hoped to order off of a menu, but the only option was eggs benedict. The grits station was decent as was the omelet station. The desserts were also good. - Two house flies buzzing around during the meal was unappetizing. - At $95 for four people (before tip), I expect better and would not recommend it to a friend.

Yummy Fathers Day Brunch! Delicious tenderloin and grits, best brunch atmosphere. Desserts are fabulous. Fresh berries with cream sweetened just right.

Can't believe some of the write-ups here. When in the area, we always make it a point to have lunch in the Bistro. The menu is short but the selection is delightful. Look it up online. And you always get those great popovers! My favorite is the Crab Cakes and Citrus Salad with the citrus marmalade vinagrette. Service is great and waitstaff ate friendly. The dining area is small, so call for reservations.

The sautéed scallops with fettuccine I had last night was awful. The sauce on the fettuccine was bland and pasty. Extremely disappointing.

Nice to byob, but they were out of almost everything. We brought plenty to drink so that eased the pain, but when the waitress said they were out of honey mustard.... I just can't.

Being our 7th year anniversary in the town in which we met, our second dinner meal every eaten here with the 1st being some 8 years ago, we really enjoyed ourselves. We dined late so we closed the place down, service was very nice. Food fresh, crisp and tasty. Heavy on the bread.. as the puff pastry bread was a meal in itself and the Ceasar Salad had two rather large cornbread helpings. The entree was rather small in size/quantity as was the crabcake appetizer I ordered as my entree. It was more like a tapas than a larger sized appetizer helping. Prices were pretty fair so all in all a rather pleasant experience. SaleebScore Food: 8/10, Service: 9/10, Atmosphere was a 10/10. 3 of 5 stars Value 5 of 5 stars Atmosphere 5 of 5 stars Service 4 of 5 stars Food

This place was... awkward. We booked a large table for my dad's birthday celebration after some of my family members had a super fancy dinner at the Beaufort Inn several years back. Let's just say that things have changed. I'm just going to have to catalog the strangeness. 1) They're a hotel restaurant without a liquor license. No liquor, no beer, no wine. All BYOB. Bizarro. 2) We were set up at a lovely table in the library area and instead of a classic white tablecloth we were greeted with some teal, iridescent, fake silk number that reminded me of all the bar mitvahs I went to (in 1997). 3) Similarly, the napkins were satin on one side. What?! 4) The popovers they served in advance of dinner were quite tasty, but they came with strawberry butter. Good for breakfast, maybe, but not for dinner. 5) We were told it would be a full house at 7:30 on the Saturday night we were there, but we were one of two tables for the entirety of our stay. To add to the awkward, there was no music playing. Apparently they were great to work with in helping to set up the reservation and the staff couldn't have been more friendly, but there was just too much weird to make up for it. The food was okay but not especially inventive, with very few seafood selections for a coastal town. I will admit the BLT salad was mighty tasty, but nothing else about the meal was especially memorable. To be honest, it tasted like catered food, which isn't what you want for a nice sit-down dinner with your family. This place may very well be great for brunch, but I wouldn't recommend it for dinner.

I have been here on quite a few occasions. The Afternoon Tea is amazing and the lemon bars delish! It is a great few hours to spend with the girls eating yummy treats. The Sunday brunch here is also great with a big selection. I love the decor in the restaurant. Elegant and different to anywhere else in Beaufort.

We came for a Saturday evening birthday dinner with our 2 adult children. Popovers were great, but when the waitress came to take our order, she said she had some "bad news" for us - about 1/2 of the menu was not available (they were out - no steak, no chicken, no salmon - about the only land entrees were the pork tenderloin and hamburger) and there were no specials. We were delighted with the appetizers and looked forward to our 2nd choice dinner entrees. The entrees weren't special - good, but for the price, you're expecting something that is more innovative. Plus, instant mashed potatoes don't cut it for a higher end restaurant. Overall, for the expense, the entire experience didn't measure up to a $150 tab for 4 people. Plus, with this being a Saturday evening when you should be expecting diners, being out of that much of the menu is not acceptable. We should have left when we heard that. My suggestion - go for appetizers and dessert, or try lunch/brunch.

The staff was incredible and the food was absolutely awesome. I got the stuffed grouper and I cleaned my plate. My friends had the steak and after lots of Champagne, I believe their plates were licked clean as well. What a great find!

I had my birthday dinner there not long ago and it was fantastic. Our server, Ashley, was awesome and the food was incredible! I am on a strict gluten-free diet for health reasons and Chef Christopher could not have been more accommodating. Everything was absolutely perfect...from start to finish.

Bad bad BAD experience. My husband and I had the same experience that the other reviewer, Stephanie H. did! The restaurant at the Beaufort Inn is delicious and a great spot for lunch, but if you're wanting an event catered, don't waste your time. The story is long, so brace yourself... My husband (fiance at the time) and I went to the Beaufort Inn to taste the food and talk about having our wedding reception there. When we arrived, we ate lots of (delicious) food and were fat and happy. Then the sleazy-ness began. We were told that unless we paid the deposit THAT DAY, they would not hold the spot for us. They never mentioned that the deposit was non-refundable nor did they offer to draw-up a new contract with some of the changes we had decided upon that day from our initial conversations over the phone. They would not take a credit card for the deposit amount, so I said I would send them a check in the mail. But, I signed the contract anyway (mistake #1). They said they would mail me a copy of the contract and then I could send them the check. So, I got home and waited. And waited and waited. I received an email with the new proposal and new contract (with a different deposit amount) and asked if that NEW amount was what I should send them. They said yes and that they would NOT send me my copy of the contract until they received the check. So, I sent it. I never heard whether or not they got the check in the mail until I emailed them. They said that they had received the check and they would be mailing my copy of the contract soon. Guess who STILL hasn't received a contract? That's right. I NEVER got it! Ever! Ridiculous! I don't live in Beaufort, so I couldn't go speak with Bethany in person. But, next time I was in town, I went there (and gave her a heads up in an email). My mom and I went to the inn and waited. We had 5 people come out and tell us that she would just be "a few more minutes" (including the Chef). Well, my mom and I left after almost 2 hours of waiting. UGH. Before we left, the woman at the front desk said she would have Bethany call us. Surprise! She didn't. She emailed me and said she hadn't had time to meet with me (why didn't she just say that in the first place?). So, I asked her to please call me and we could discuss everything. She finally called me. She was hostile and kept talking over me (what ever happened to "the customer is always right?"). I finally told her I was very unhappy with how I had been treated and wanted to cancel our event. She said fine and that she would send me the cancelled contract, but that she would be keeping the deposit. She "saw no reason to give it back." So... I never received the contract and I never got the deposit back. We decided to have the wedding reception at Moondoggies in Port Royal (and it was AMAZING!). We did, however, work out a deal with Bethany where she would give us some BBQ pork, rolls, and cole slaw for our rehearsal dinner on the beach. That was the only good thing that came out of it. But, dang, that was some really expensive BBQ... lol. (the deposit was $600) In summation (lol), don't do it. Unless, of course, you want your event to be a nightmare and you want to do business with a company who doesn't give you a contract.

My fiance and I were sent to Southern Graces because we used the Beaufort Inn as our venue. They are their "preferred caterer". We are not from the area and trusted the recommendation of our venue. They solely recommended Southern Graces. We dealt with Bethany (the owner of Southern Graces). She not only ruined our engagement experience but our wedding. We were a low-budget wedding looking for a fun, cost-effective event. We were not picky and were extremely flexible. Bethany agreed to do our wedding within the budget we gave her. She required a deposit up front (BIG RED FLAG) and insisted that a contract would be given following the deposit, but I never received it. After giving the deposit we were given the run-around for literally 2 months. I could not get anyone on the phone and Bethany did not return any of my calls or emails. When we came for our scheduled site visit and tasting, Bethany could not be bothered to show up. Her husband, the chef, was very friendly and kept telling us she would be there "any minute". She didn't show up for over 2 hours! When she did show up, she was rude and dismissive. We discussed the minimal things we would need and the total budget for the event. However, the closer we got to the event, the more things began to change. She began removing items that were included and then charging additional for them. She refused to provide anything in writing. By 2 weeks before the wedding, she had increased our per person charge significantly, reduced the menu, and I was basically decorating everything myself. Then her final bill came in almost $2000 over what we had discussed. After trying to discuss the problems with her, we were forced to change vendors 2 weeks before our wedding day and Bethany refused to return our almost $2000 deposit. In addition, during our 6 month engagement, I was able to speak to Bethany twice. I was disregarded, abused, and taken advantage of. She was a nightmare to communicate to, and both my fiance and I felt manipulated and bullied throughout the experience. We stuck with Bethany as long as we did because we were told she had a family crisis. I am not sure whether this is true or not, as I hope that someone would not lie about something like that. But the treatment that we received is not unique to us and we have found other couples that have gone through similar things with this company. This is not an isolated incident. Bethany and Southern Graces makes a habit of taking advantage of people. I live more than 5 hours away, which made this much more difficult. I gave one star on everything because that is the lowest score it would allow. If I could attach a warning label I would. I hope that this review helps to prevent others from going through what we did.

Horrible Catering Experience. Kind and Amazing Chef, Chris. Horrible Event Planner, Bethany. From first impressions, we were sold Southern Graces for our event. Then, after the deposit was made, they sucked. Seriously, Bethany and her revolving staff didn't respond to emails or phone calls for 3 MONTHS after the deposit was received. It didn't get any better at the event. One of the main things that sold us was that the Chef would attend our event. He didn't. Some charges were tripled on the final contract, for no reason. And, the event planner herself didn't even show. REALLY? To top that off, they left a bag of trash at the event entrance WHILE guests were showing up. They officially win my worst vendor award. Congrats SG! The food is delicious, but it's certainly not worth the disrespect, surprise price increases, and broken promises you'll get with your event contract.

Great food and service. The Beaufort Inn just catered an after wedding brunch. I think I ate too much of the wonderful food. Just wonderful.

I have to agree with others... wonderful food, poor catering. Their meals served at The Beaufort Inn are special. But the catering operation is not run well. One event they catered in my home turned out nicely, but only after being insulted by the event planner who was removed from my project. Communication is the worst. My friends and I have been on both the client and vendor ends. Regardless, Bethany does not respond to emails, will keep you waiting when she has no intention of talking with you, and can quickly escalate a simple need for clarification into an insulting confrontation.

This restaurant was fantastic! I was very pleasantly surprised at how delicious and sophisticated the food was. I stayed at the Inn (which was also wonderful) and chose the restaurant mostly for convenience and was so pleased. The food was rich and delicious without being heavy and overbearing. The decor is a little odd and the seats are slightly too low - but who cares when you have fantastic food. My mother is allergic to onions and this is one of the only places we have been to (and we eat out a lot) where the chef actually came out of his kitchen in order to discuss her options with her - incredible! They have no liquor license, which seemed weird at first, except that the front desk of the inn gave us a voucher so we each got a free glass of wine! Silly law loophole: no liquor license means no liquor for SALE, but they can still give it away for free - awesome! This also saved us a bunch of money on booze, so our whole meal for three people was under $100. I would highly recommend this restaurant!

There's a reason why this business has won numerous awards and been named one of Beaufort, S.C.'s top caterers. The food is fantastic and brings traditional Southern cooking together with a bit more modern feel. Southern Graces gets it right. Your taste buds will thank you.

Coming from someone who eats out a lot, I have to say that Southern Graces Sunday Brunch is the BEST! If the weather is nice, sit on the veranda! Charming, quaint, and GREAT food! What else do you need? Don't miss the yummy pop-overs!
