Food had no flavor the vegetables were clearly from a frozen package and they were still cold.

Loved it. Authentic style food, not tex mex. Went here with my wife and two kids and everyone had something they loved. The kids burrito was smothered in quest. I got the appetizer sampler and loved it -- especially the flautas with poblano peppers and onions in them.

They are an average American Mexican eatery! Nothing special. They have military discounts and specials thru the week.

My family and I live in town and have been looking for a good Mexican restaurant. Stopped in after being disappointed at la hacienda. We were seated right away and the waiter immediately brought chips and salsa, along with our drinks. We chose our meal choices and within ten minutes we were eating! My wife got the arroz con pollo and myself the carne asada tacos. Best I've ever had! You could tell the servers had a small difficulty speaking English, but we say it adds to the authenticity haha. Over all the service was good. You get a lot of food for a small check. We have been there many times and will continue without disappointment! Definite recommendation!!!

I loved the food in San Diego. This comes a bit closer than other places we have tried here. Service could improve- making this a 5 star gig. It's worth a try.

The host was very rude and the service had a very slow start, once we received our food, we waited about eight minutes until anyone came to check on us. We needed utensils and drink refills, only after the waitress noticed how displeased we were, did our service improve. The food was mediocre at best, for instance the carnitas were seasoned well, but the knife skills needed improvement. The pork was a bit over cooked and the cut was made with the grain instead of against it, which made it difficult to eat. The meat itself wasn't cleaned very well, so it was very fatty and greasy.

Horrible... Thought I'd give this place a try before seeing a movie, the only advice I have is to wait until it closes and another restaurant takes it's place. The salsa was watery and salty with no discernible vegetables. The chips were fine. I ordered the beef nachos and was told "be careful, hot plate", so I tasted it...then began sticking my finger in it. As I blindly pierced my entrée with my finger I thought 'surely it's the pico that is so cold'. So I used my fork to taste the beef, nope, refrigerator cold. My gray, tasteless, crumbled beef was ice cold. After 8 minutes I flagged someone down and I asked them to please microwave the dinner. Btw, do not sit at the bar I felt forgotten. When the meal was returned I ate a few bites and ask for the check. Not once did any ask about the food, experience etc. So I tipped the server, left a full plate of food with half a drink on the table, and disappointedly exited.

My wife and I enjoyed this place. Here on vacation, staying across the street. Salsa was delicious, thick and flavorful. The vegetarian section of the menu was great. I got the potato enchilada, very good, and the mushroom was pretty good too. My wife's chicken quesadilla was good too. Also, I asked about cactus, saw that on the menu and wanted to try it. Our lovely waitress brought me a big plate of it, and didn't charge us. Very kind of her, and it was delicious stuff! All in all, a solid Mexican joint. It's what you'd expect from a Mexican place in the states, maybe a little step up. Prices and selection are good, and we enjoyed it. Definitely recommend it.

This place is situated at the plaza and used to be The Sandbar and Grill. The place is clean, nicely decorated and carries a relaxing atmosphere. As soon as you're seated, the servers come in right away with chips and salsa. Their menu is huge! Seems like they thought of almost every possible combination! They even have a vegetarion section. They might need to fix their beaufort phone number on the menu though looks like it's missing a digit! My first order here was chicken with some sort of cream sauce and asked for a small sized guacamole on the side and was delicious! I also had extra to take home! I wanted to try their desserts so I got myself the flan. Oh my goodness!! Loved it!! The flan wasn't too sweet and it melts in your mouth. My second visit I took my hubs here and he enjoyed it! I wanted to go light so I got the grilled shrimp and tilapia with steamed vegetables and guacamole salad. Wasn't a fan of it since the shrimp and tilapia tasted bland and not even a few squeezes of lime could save them. However, me and my husband enjoyed the nachos! It had chicken, steak, and shrimp and you complimentary sides of guac, salsa, and sour cream (so much for going light!~). Hubs had the the "california buritto" had no comment, just ate the whole thing lol. Service is pleasant here and I like how the servers help each other out when one of them isn't available. Overall, enjoyed our time here and will definitely come back!

Three ladies tried this restaurant for the first time on Tuesday before going to the movies which is located next door. We all give the Rancho Grande a five star rating!! The menu is extensive, prices are reasonable, service was great and best of all, the food was excellent. We will definitely be going back.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
