I decided to give this place a try for dinner one day after seeing them stay consistently busy over a period of a few weeks. Big mistake! I want to give them a shout-out on one thing: their decoration inside is colorful and fun albeit a little overdone. Beyond that, I can't recommend anything else about this place. Our server was rude and did a poor job of "selling" menu items. After asking if a couple of items on the menu were good and getting no feedback, the server went so far as to say "you're ordering that?" when we decided on what to get. Add in the fact that we didn't see much of our server, and we were one of maybe 10 tables max in the restaurant at the time, the service left a little to be desired. I ordered egg drop soup and General Tso's chicken. Pretty standard Chinese food for an Americanized restaurant I would think. The egg drop soup got to the table, and it was probably 50% chives and 50% soup. I don't have a problem with chives being added to the top of a soup as a garnish, maybe even for a little flavor. But I shouldn't have to go fishing to find the egg in the EGG drop soup. As for the General Tso's chicken, the meat wasn't too bad and the sauce was pretty standard. Nothing incredibly good or bad about it. The fried rice was terrible though. It tasted old. Swapping out for the steamed rice would be advisable, as their fried rice is a definite question mark with regards to freshness. Needless to say, I won't be going back. Ever.

Too much décor, not enough quality in their food. I ordered take out. The girl there wasn't very friendly. She seem a bit disinterested. I ordered the beef lo mein. That was the first time I had ever seen green peppers in any lo mein. The noodles were thicker than I had ever seen in lo mein. It didn't taste like Chinese lo mein but like an American knock-off. I ordered fried won ton and discovered they were cheese won ton. I thought they had made an error but it seems by their menu that they don't even make fried pork won ton. This is another first. I'd rather go to a less ornate Chinese restaurant and get better tasting and authentic food.

Very good food and service every time. Most menu items can be ordered on the all day special version which is served on a very large individual plate instead of the traditional serving dish which everyone can share. The all day special includes an appetizer egg roll, soup, chicken wing, etc. The service and the food is hot consistently. We come back whenever we have the chance.

The servers use carts to bring the food out from the kitchen rather than carrying trays. Unfortunately they also use the same carts to bus tables, and put the dirty dishes on the same shelf they use to serve food from the carts. So when your food arrives at your table, it is on the same cart that was just used to bus dishes at a different table. Sometimes they use a plastic tub on the carts to collect the dirty dishes, and but I also saw carts with stacks of dishes and serving bowls. There are also other serving items on the two lower shelves of the carts, such as pitchers, go boxes, and condiments, when the carts are being used to bus tables, creating the potential for food from dirty plates to contaminate these items. I was near the end of my meal when I realized these issues with the carts serving double duty, or I would have left sooner. The meal itself was average at best. Shrimp with Chinese vegetables ($10) had an overly thick sauce (probably too much cornstarch) that rendered the vegetables tasteless. There were plenty of large shrimp, but they had the slight chewiness of frozen seafood. One of the shrimp was still partially frozen when I bit into it. The servers were pleasant, but young, and did not display the level of professionalism of the type of mid-upscale restaurant that this place aspires to be. They push their carts everywhere they go, which is especially noisy when they rattle along the tile portions of the floor with either food being served from the kitchen in bowls with loose-fitting lids or stacks of dishes from bussed tables. The floors are not kept clean between customers. I noticed several clean tables with food on the floor, and the customers across from me were seated at a clean table with a dirty floor. And if the carts and rattling dishes aren't enough, the sound system was tuned to a pop music channel at an intrusive volume. This created a slightly frantic environment, even though there were only a handful of tables with customers. Perhaps they adjust the volume with a full dining room and don't adjust it back down when there are fewer customers. I won't be back.

This may be my second review but this is for the new and improved Master Wok in it new location. The interior is very impressive and the food value is great we love the $7.00 dollar meal section it is a great value that makes a perfect choice when we are to lazy to cook. We recently discovered the four delight sizzling platter that is our current favorite. This is a great place to eat and with the impressive interior a wonderful place to go on date night with the wife without breaking the bank.

Sat down and the place was a disaster. All the tables were not bussed and a server never took my order. After several minutes waiting, I left. I did not have time to wait around and was not comfortable being in a restaurant that was mostly empty with most of the tables not cleared off. I will eat elsewhere.

I've got to say that this is my favorite Chinese restaurant! They are currently switching to a new location, their new location is very impressive and feels very much like a high end eating experience as soon as you enter the door, though it is still recognizable as Master's Wok. The food itself is delicious! I've tried a pretty wide variety of their dishes and they are all very good. I usually order their Shrimp Fired Rice with an egg roll, but their Imperial Beef is also great if you want something spicy. This place is appropriate for children, though not geared especially for them like your typical McDonald's. The only thing that keeps this restaurant from being a full five stars is that their dishes are not consistently amazing. Sure their shrimp fried rice is really good; but every once in a while (especially if you go not too long before closing time), the rice will be just a tad dry. Other than that, Master's Wok is a restaurant that you will not want to miss!

So my family recently moved to the upstate after living in Columbia and we definitely LOVE Chinese food. One day while driving in Anderson I spotted the Master's Wok (kind of hard not to see) and decided we had to try it. I checked Yelp and saw the other reviews and really had the bar set high. Last night we all went there and were very impressed with the indoor decor and architecture. Very ornate and over the top, it was definitely the most beautiful Chinese restaurant I have ever been in. I had very high hopes after seeing how lavish the inside was. I read online that one of their house specials was the Cantonese Pan Fried Noodles so once we sat down, I ordered that. Other entrees tried were the Kung "Boo" Shrimp (I have never seen it spelled boo...) and the Hong Kong chicken. The service was a little slow and when they brought our food to us, they brought it on a cart with a bunch of other dishes and the woman couldn't figure out what we had ordered. Finally once we got our food, we dug in. My noodles were pretty good, but they had this very salty almost fast-food chinese type of sauce drenching them. The Kung Boo Shrimp was alright but heavily lacking on the spicy although it was indicated on the menu as spicy. It was heavy on the salt though, just like my sauce. The Hong Kong chicken was definitely the best of the three dishes we ordered (probably because it didn't have a sauce...). It was lightly battered and fried and served over sauteed vegetables. Very delicious I would get that if we ever go here again (not sure about that though). Definitely a disappointment considering how lavishly decorated the interior and exterior are. The food was only fast-food standard fare and not even very good at that... heavily drenched items with sauce and saltiness overbearing any other flavor. I wouldn't recommend coming here, there are definitely better places in the area (House of Leung in Clemson and Hard Wok Cafe in Liberty).

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
