Iama Critic Rating - Harbor Inn - 3 Stars 3301 North Main Street, Anderson, SC Overall: Cozy laid back seafood house with a huge parking lot, so it must get busy, but it was empty at prime dinner time on a Tuesday. $11.25 - Ahi Tuna - 3 Stars I ordered my tuna blackened with rice and hush puppies. The fish arrived perfectly flavored. The two pieces I received were a bit small for the price. Far more important, the tuna was very dry and the rice was bland. The hush puppies were larger than average and very good. Side Salad - 3 Stars This side salad came with the ahi tuna entree. The salad was too meager on the condiments, except for the cheese, which strangely was cheddar. They need to add some additional toppings to this salad. $3.95 - Clam Chowder - 3 Stars This clam chowder came in a big bowl with crackers. The crackers were terribly abused which made my pictures look bad, but I don't eat crackers anyway. The soup was good and warm with plenty of clam bits, but sadly its flavor was flat and tasted like the canned stuff. Really good course ground pepper would have helped, but Harbor provides that cruddy pepper dust. $2.00 - Side of Cajun Chicken - 4 Stars I ordered a special side of Cajun chicken and this is where the chef really shined! This chicken was moist, perfectly cooked and wonderfully seasoned! $2.00 - Side of Cajun Tilapia - 4 Stars I ordered a special side of Cajun tilapia and this is where the chef really shined! This fish was perfectly cooked and wonderfully seasoned! Final Thoughts: Everything I ordered off the menu was rather ordinary, but when I started special ordering my food, Harbor Inn's chef kicked it to a whole new level. Wow, if only the menu items tasted like the special orders! Harbor Inn could really pack the place for more than just being a good value if it would make just a few adjustments. They offered no vinegar, seafood or tartar sauces, and they should offer a shaker or two of seasoning on the table for those who actually like spices. Get some course ground pepper and chuck the crappy pepper dust and the busted crackers, or offer a couple of cracker bags in a table holder like at Cracker Barrel. That will keep them from looking so terrible. The Harbor Inn has real potential to be easily much better, the chef obviously has the ability, so I look forward to my next Harbor Inn visit when hopefully they will be cranking that fresh tuna and homemade clam chowder.

I'm not really sure how to rate this place. We came here on Mother's Day weekend for a late lunch. The restaurant wasn't very busy. The prices were very reasonable and the portions were pretty generous. The service was good but it felt like it took forever to arrive (although, I was also starving so that possibly added to the wait!) The food itself left a lot to be desired. I ordered a tilapia and jumbo shrimp combo with mixed veggies. I think my tilapia and shrimp were simply fried with flour and absolutely no seasoning. The mixed veggies were definitely steamed without adding seasoning. The hushpuppies were very good. Nonetheless, I'd likely return to this place whenever I'm in town. Mainly because of the prices.

Absolutely the worst seafood I have ever had. Very small portions and way over cooked. Use to eat here all the time but no more. The food has really gone down hill. Better for at the Red Lobster and that's not saying much

I enjoyed the spaciousness and choice of seating with window views. I liked the selection of either broiled or fried seafood. I found the portions generous, tasty and flavorful. The shrimp cocktail is the only downside I found. The 4 medium/small shrimp was presented in a bowl on a bed of lettuce. Not attractive and had to request cocktail sauce. Other than that, the service was good and there was not a long time between ordering, appetizers and main course. Pleasant experience.

Once you walk in the door you could be in any family seafood restaurant on the coast of SC. The food is fresh and well prepared. The portions are large enough to share. This place has that great family tradition the wait staff is in t-shirts, you just know that someones heart and soul went into building this place up. Skip the seafood chains and give the Harbor Inn a try, you will not regret it!

This place was ok. Nothing special. The fried seafood was nicely cooked and tasty. My daughter ordered clam chowder, which was uninspired, and snow crab legs which she enjoyed. One thing I didn't like was the fact that they didn't bus the tables very well. Our dishes piled up on the table throughout the meal. That's not very appetizing. Perhaps it was just a staffing issue. Not a bad place, but not a place I'd go out of my way for, either.

In general one of our favorites for decently priced quick sit-down food. Both my husband and I have food items we avoid, and their menu fits the bill. A nice lunch with salad, grilled chicken fingers, and a pile of fried shrimp plus a side is about $7.00, not bad. Sometimes the grilled items take forever; I'm not sure why. Service is generally very good as well. We also tip decently, which may help the regular servers get to know us and get better service. This is one of 3 places we tend to visit weekly. In response to the other reviews: Your attitude in the door will directly impact how well you are treated. Remember this. Who cares if they don't use a computer? Did they get your order wrong or overcharge you? If not, skip the complaints. Should we be in the parking lot deriding your choice to drive your old car a few more years? Or poking fun at your clothes? It's simply not relevant unless it negatively impacted your experience. To the other bitchy little girl: if you had diarrhea on the way home, it was from something else; food poisons simply don't work that fast. Maybe you ingested too much lotion or something?

Outdated, old, bottles on tables were very dirty, tables were dirty, service slow, friendly servers. Most of the customers here seem very old. Price is right though, and portions are huge, but most of the menu consists on fried items. I ordered a tomato pie off the specials menu, and being from Philly, Philadelphians know tomato pie as pizza, I thought hey tomato pie (pizza) in SC, and it was actually a slice of tomato pie (pie crust with tomatoes and cheese) it was very greasy and underdone. The salt and pepper catfish fingers were ok good fish, just not very crunchy, the clam strips were also pretty good, but not the best I have ever had in my life, hushpuppies were ok just your basic frozen hushpuppy, the salad was ok too, but not great. This place also doesn't have a computer system (what restaurant doesn't nowadays) so their checks and the handwritten checks from the servers are VERY confusing! I wouldn't come back here again, I figured I would try it since we were passing by. I would def go to Red Lobster down the street before I come back here!

Awful food. Everything was swimming in grease and mayo. Dirty looking. Out-of-date decor from the 70's. Very senior clientele. Would never go back....ever.

The Harbor Inn seafood Cafeteria is a local Anderson gem! They have the best local Seafood and a beautiful dining area!

This is a wonderful fish house. The prices are right and the portions are large. The help is always nice. This is a casual place where you can get some good food.

First off I am going to have to go ahead and say all the one star reviews are grossly inaccurate. I eat here literally once or twice a month. I have had less than stellar experiences. It happens. My main complaints have been with service and other guests intruding on my dining experience. I have never gotten sick from their food. It's always top notch, never dripping with grease, the right amount of breading or grilling, and fresh - not seaside fresh, but good to go. You aren't going to get seaside fresh, never frozen so far from the coast at these prices so just let it go, folks. Speaking of prices, for about 10-12 bucks you can get a combo platter with any type of seafood from scallops to catfish fillets to clam strips to crab, two different entrees, your choice of sides including cold slaw, hushpuppies, baked potato, mashed potatoes, etc. They also have a kids menu and some non-seafood items like chicken and steak. If you want top notch service ask for Fernando. He has a ponytail and has been there for years. He won't let you down. All the other servers are hit or miss. My main problem is they are closed on a Monday, which I thought was kind of weird, yet they are open on Sunday. Usually it's closed on Sunday and Monday with most places.

This is a fun little seafood place that serves previously frozen seafood, delicious iced tea and yummy, homemade tasting cake for dessert. I recommend this place for a fair priced seafood meal. Just don't expect fresh seafood. We are not on the coast, so we get previously frozen seafood. In my opinion, Harbor Inn is a better bet for your money than Red Lobster. Give it a shot...I like the Seafood Platter.

Judging by the other reviews, I must have caught these assholes on a bad night, but here's my experience. We ordered food that came out after about an hour wait. My friend asks for some ranch, they bring out what looks like the result of someone brushing their teeth and spitting in a dressing cup (fucking literally). Then we all had the shits on the way home. Maybe I got them on a shit night where they had asshole employees, but this is my story of how Harbor in gave me the runs.

We had a very good dinner with excellent service.

First off, this place is not very good. I'd go so far as to call it disgusting. Everything tastes the same---am I eating shrimp or clams? Also, what is up with the ranch dressing being green? Again, disgusting. My wife and I refuse to eat here.
