I was here recently on a Monday afternoon. They have awesome Mon/Tues specials. Half off all sushi and hibachi. I had a really good steak hibachi and 2 special rolls. I had to take some of it home but everything was great. Very reasonable prices. I had a pot of tea for $1. Not that tea should be expensive but some places do overcharge for it. Very friendly and quick service. The only fail was that all of the 3 or 4 people coming to my table disappeared after the check came, which was odd. I eventually asked someone if I was supposed to pay at the counter, and he took care of it. The décor is a bit harsh for my taste with all the red and black, but I would stop in again for happy hour or early in the week.

Absolutely best hibachi in the southern New England area. At first, because of the location we were hesitant, and the wait service is super slow, but man is the food amazing. Everything is cooked perfect. We have been there 7 times now, and my last experience provoked me to finally write a review. I took my elderly family out for dinner and we were seated with a couple who was not pda shy at all. My conservative mother politely asked the manager to move us, and they did Without hesitation, or complaint. Usually at hibachis they are so bonkers about keeping everyone at one table, but they accommodated and let the couple have their own hibachi and us ours. Thank you again for that guys! The steak is awesome, hibachis chicken is awesome, swordfish is excellent, the shrimp is to die for!!! Even the sushi is perfect! My super picky dad, for the first time in his life ate everything on his plate!!! We were floored! Excellent restaurant, great atmosphere we will definitely be long time customers here.

First off, you can't beat the deal of the century; half off entire menu on Mondays and Tuesdays. HELLO. Expect a wait, especially if you are going the hibachi route. To be truthful, I don't believe my rating would be as high if I came on a regular priced night. BUT nothing beats half price sushi so 4 stars it is. Service; not fantastic. The server wasn't pleased that we only ordered water & we watched our soups get cold on the counter before they were brought to us. Again, when we asked for split checks, we were answered with an eye roll. Food; really good. The crabmeat salad is a must try coming to only 2 dollars and change with the half price discount. Tower of spicy crab meat over fresh greens (pictured). The sushi was also really good. Large rolls filled with generous amounts of fresh fish. Again, for the price on Mondays and Tuesday's, you can't beat it. We tried the KOTOS prayer roll, the superman and the Newport. I would highly recommend the KOTOS prayer but the winner was the Newport! Must try!

The decor is nice and bright, the waitstaff is friendly and attentive. The sushi is slightly over average. Ordered the mango chichen, it was cook well and had a little subtle after kick to it. The mangos and chicken needed to be cut to eat which I did not like. I've ordered this dish other places and never needed to do that... The habachi is average, but not as good as say a place like ichigo ichi. Our chef was Ok, but didnt really dazzle and interact with the table as you would have expected. Ordering take out is a breeze and they have never meased up on order. Mondays and Tuesday's are the night to go as their prices are better then any other day (bar only I believe).

Hidden gem in the heart of Woonsocket. The food is delicious and the staff are friendly. The inside is softly and warmly lit and the decor is red and gold and black which lends itself to an elegant and an intimate atmosphere. There is a huge bar, booths, and hibachi tables so it's great for a crowd, an intimate date, or just a single pringle looking to hang. The restaurant and bathrooms are clean. There is a huge parking lot. The Hibachi is so good and the sushi is fresh and tasty as well. They have other dishes like General Tsao chicken and lo mein in case you're not a sushi fan. They offer brown and white rice for the sushi which is nice. They have daily deals, a happy hour menu, full bar. I only take a star off for the at times slow service, especially during happy hour or other times when they are running specials (like on Monday when they have half priced hibachi). It's really a matter of the food is freshly prepared so the kitchen can only go so fast, so as long as your prepared to spend a couple hours it's no big deal, but it is something to be aware of.

This restaurant is an oddity for the location, it is quite beautiful inside and has a menu to match. The name is a bit deceiving as it reads Sushi and Grill so you automatically assume a Japanese hibachi style restaurant. However there is no hibachi but instead an America pub style grill menu with a brilliant Asian twist. Finally someone in the area is doing Fusion the way it was designed. I started with the Poseidon Chowder which was truly one of the best chowders I have ever had the pleasure of consuming. It was the perfect consistency, exploding with flavor and packed full of big pieces of seafood including lobster, shrimp, sea scallops, fish and more! I then had the Sashimi Dinner which was a beautiful assortment of fresh fish ranging from Tuna and Salmon to Himachi and White Tuba. It was all prepared skillfully and seemed quite fresh. My friend enjoyed an absolutely beautiful filet mignon served over mashed potatoes with grilled asparagus and a red wine reduction, it was cooked perfectly, and was an extremely high quality steak. We finished the dinner with a house made chocolate chip bread pudding with the homemade ice cream. It was not a beautiful dessert. But what it lacked in presentation it made up for in flavor, it was delicious. This restaurant is a hidden Gem that has taken up residence in a spot that has seen many other restaurants come and go over the years. I highly recommend trying this restaurant and hope to see them enjoy great success.

My wife and I love coming here. Great sushi! They could use some work on appetizer timing.

Location is a little sketchy - I was scared to leave my car in the lot. Inside is totally fine though! Decent sushi and great service.

Delicious food! Second time back over a few months and just as great the second time! Had some happy hour specials and each meal came to 20$ each (with a soda!) totally worth it! Will be back again soon. Dinner and a show is worth it!

Actually a pretty decent place. Good sushi. Service likely depends upon the server but I sat at the sushi bar so that helps. Had a rubber tire kinda subtle smell that I still can't peg but nothing major. It was close to hotel and I wanted sushi. Not exactly a nice restaurant to bring the wide but if you're like me and just want some decent sushi, this place fits the bill.

I would give this place zero stars if I could, but alas have to give them something. I have been here for lunch before, has been ok, nothing special but not bad. I came today for a quick lunch with a coworker and literally left so angry I can't believe it. I ordered 2 sweet potato tempura rolls and asked to add avocado and my coworker got a lunch special, we ordered as soon as we sat down as this was a quick work lunch. The service seemed a bit slow as it took the waitress a while to bring our waters and tea, but fine. When they brought out my rolls, they had not added the avocado. I asked them to remake, told my friend to eat his food. 45 minutes and him having completed his food later, they still had not brought my food back. I finally decided to just leave as this was ridiculous. We asked to speak with the manager when the waitress basically said yes its taking long because you wanted the avocado, WHICH I ASKED FOR WHEN I ORDERED THE FIRST TIME, if you can't remember an order, write them down, that's not my fault you messed up. When we spoke to the manager, she was just as rude as the waitress. They made it seem like they were doing us a favor not charging me for my rolls (the ones they still had yet to bring to me). Its not a favor not charging me for food I never even got to eat. They made my friend still pay for his complete meal, which I found a little ridiculous, their only consolation was here is a $5 giftcard towards your next visit, which we rejected, as we will NEVER have a next visit, and will advise anyone in the area DO NOT COME HERE. The empty parking lot should be a sign, horrible service and horrible manners. It is not the customers fault that you brought me the wrong meal. I am furious with the service and level of respect from this establishment.

Bring your friends This place is a great thing to happen to Woonsocket, with not much sushi option to choose from (none) in the area this was a nice welcoming. Of course i say this with the fact that the sushi is very good. Actually everything is very good. I've tried a lot off the menu already app and sushi wise and they were all very tasty and delicious. They did a great job renovating the space. Nice and big, open, clean huge windows in the front which i'd assume would bring in some nice natural lighting, but i have yet to go during the day. Which i need too, took home a menu to look over and their lunch specials are ridiculous. Really great deals on food and the amount seems more than enough for what you're paying. The presentation of the food is great, from the sushi to apps and main course they look amazing on the plate. and they taste even better Go on a Monday if you can, they do 30% off which is awesome and a great way to try a lot of the different items and not break the bank.

I'm sticking with a solid three for now. It's really difficult for me to extend to four ... For now, I'm willing to think that third times a charm. I've been to Koto twice now and unfortunately the service was very slow both times. In most restaurants your water is brought right when you're seated and your beverage order is taken almost immediately. (Which honestly gives them more room for time for us to make an order) is guesstimate that we waited 15mins plus for this. Our waitress this second time (was the same one we had the first time) / or she had been if she wasn't overwhelmed. A neighboring server saw that we'd gotten nothing and tok over our table! Amen. While it did take some time for everything still she had her own tables in her section she was taking care of as well. She was fun, bright and did her very best to meet every need and want that we had during our meal. The food is delicious! I cannot gripe about that either time. I got the hibachi chicken and steak combo - so good, excellent meat and well balanced miso soup and veggie medley. I'd definitely return - it would just be nice if they could kick up the speed.

This review is based on one time here so take that into account. First off what is with the outside of this building the color choices are just horrible. Tends to make the u think the inside must be horrible. Was pleasantly surprised though when inside how it was done and decorated. For once didn't look like all the others. Seating was fast but as others have said service was incredibly slow. To the point I thought about leaving. I mean serious 10 mins for water and soda like seriously. Food though I have to say was very good one of the better ones and not over salted like so many of them are where I need a hallow of water the next morning. I will give them another shot in time and see how far things have improved with the service maybe it was and off night. Though on this night they weren't to busy so how would they be on a busy night. Mmmm

This brand-new Asian (sushi, hibachi & more!) restaurant just recently opened up in Woonsocket, and I'm thinking that it's going to be a slam dunk. They've got a few kinks to be ironed out, but so far I'm definitely a fan and am already looking forward to going back. I haven't tried the sushi yet, but the prices on the menu seem very fair and my Dad said that the sashimi sampler plate he tried was pretty good. When I went, we had hibachi and it was decent. I liked the shrimp, the noodles were the best hibachi noodles I've ever had, and the veggies were yummy. But I wasn't crazy about the fried rice, and the famous hibachi pink sauce wasn't as good as it's been other places. I'd still say that Oki's is the best hibachi in Rhode Island, but Koto wasn't bad and it was cheaper. The only other thing I tried was the nime chow, which was pretty small and the sauce was very vinegary. So, no, I didn't like everything, but I have a feeling that this place is going to improve as time goes on. Either way, I would definitely go back. The price is right and I can't wait to try out their stir-fry entrées! One last note...the waitress service was a totally overkill. My Dad and I kept trying to have a serious conversation, and we must've been interrupted -- I'm not even exaggerating -- at least 20 times during this conversation, to ask if we were all set/needed more drinks. The "do you need more water?" question was asked at least 5 times in a 30-minute time span. It was just WAY too much, and I was getting pretty annoyed.

So I'm a first timer..... Normally don't travel to Woonsocket even though I live near by city. I've driven past the place a few times. So we decided to take a shot. We had Sushi and the summer rolls also known as Nim Chow. Sushi was excellent, had Valcano it was Amazing and then also had Tiffany, and King Crab. All were good, Valcano was excellent. We had the summer rolls not a fan, peanut sauce wasn't good.... Asked for Chili paste got Siracha. Over all though experience was cool. Nice people, nice inside, and good service in general. Bar is a little high so eating at it was a lot of bumping into elbows and I'm pretty tall. It's well decorated, cool ideas. When you walk in you see dominos glued to wall very cool. Suggest it.... Would come back. :)

I was excited to try this place out since a friend of mine recommended it. Upon walking in, I was digging the decor as it was a modern, city-like feel of a restaurant. One thing I noticed right away was the BLARING dance music playing (didn't expect that). We sat down and our waitress was very attentive and sharp it seemed but oftentimes, we were missing very key things that are a part of the sushi/Japanese experience - soy sauce tray, chopsticks etc. it was annoying to have to keep flagging her down for those things. What bothered me the most was truly the music playing dance music while we ate. We were expecting a nice dinner out and the music just didn't match the experience. While I understand if they want to appeal to a younger "nighttime" crowd, it may serve them best to consider having two types of music for the two areas (dining and bar). The sushi was pretty good but the seaweed salad was the worst I've ever had. It was way too sweet and had too much dressing. I would love to give it another shot but for now, I'll stick with 3 stars.

The food wasn't very good and the steak I ordered was with scallops and they brought me shrimp.I didn't enjoy the sauce they had it in and the portions were small The place is very noisy and kids were running around and yelling. I will not return.

This place has amazing food. I am a regular and have been trying many items on the menu. The prices are fair and equitable.. the staff is friendly. The owner is very nice and personable. Great asset to city.

Nice decor, the hibachi chefs are talented, the food is tasty... now for the other side of the coin. My party got here @ 5:35pm with a reservation & 6 out of the 9 had eaten by 7:50. Soups & salads came after our meals, & it's now 8:15 & those of us who order sushi still haven't gotten our plates yet. It's an ok place, but regardless of how busy it is be ABSOLUTELY. prepared to wait well over an hour to eat.

So far, so good. We went for the specialty sushi rolls and tried a hot dinner plate. The sushi didn't excite me; however, it was tasty. Our order did not include sashimi, so I can't speak for that. We had one entree and it was peanut chicken (can't recall its elaborate title). We loved it hands down. Lightly breaded chicken on a bed of rice and vegetables with peanut sauce on the side. The chicken was hot, crispy, and tender. The sauce was a nice blend of salty and sweet. As for the decor, it confused us a little. You see more Chinese designs than Japanese. It does not detract from the food and service though. We didn't have a super attentive waitress. Someone else served us more than our original waitress. For some reason, we saw this as a plus or a sort of balance. We weren't ignored at least and the second waitress was great. I wish I remembered her name!

We have been to this restaurant couple of times. Taste here is pretty inconsistent. When we went for the first time service and food was excellent but not this time. We ordered sushi entree which comes with miso soup. We requested our server to cook fish used in sushi. Our sushi was uncooked with raw fish in it. We asked our server if fish is cooked and her answer was yes. But we were able to see it is raw. So we insisted our server to cook it again. They prepared sushi again and we waited for over 45min. Our server also forgot to give miso soup with sushi. We reminded her to bring our miso soup.

Sat at the grill waiting 20 min for my watermelon martini and 25 min for my shrimp tempora roll appetizer. Not happy at all. Will check back when the food is finally cooked. Food great ...not much of a performance..

Went here today with my mom, sister, and her husband. It is very nice inside. we all got different orders from the hibachi. From steak to chicken, salmon, shrimp, and veggies. None of us were disappointed. We will definitely be going here again.

I have been here a couple times, only on their half off days (Monday and Tuesdays). I have to agree with the others when they say the service is completely lacking. Last time I was sat at 7:55pm and wasn't seen by a waitress until 8:15. I know the sushi is delicious and worth the wait so my fiancé and I sat back and chatted. Finally when a server came by she did inform us sushi would take a while, that was appreciated information. It's a shame the service stinks because both the sushi and habachi are delicious.

I recently stopped here randomly after visiting a dairy farm in the area. The location is strange but the food was great. My boyfriend and I shared short ribs, a few different rolls, and got miso soup and salad. Everything is very good. If in the area again, we will return.

Went to this place on a whim after looking around for hibachi near Woonsocket. Previously went to Umi Steakhouse a week earlier but wanted to go somewhere that was a bit closer. The food was absolutely stellar. The cooks are funny and attentive and the hibachi is excellent, especially the filet mignon. However, the sushi they have is stellar! Absolutely the best and most creative I've seen in Rhode Island so far (seriously, try Strawberry Love and the Superman... and the Banana one.) Only downside, but it's not worth removing a star for, is the service. It can be very very slow at times, but that's alright, the show the cook puts on is worth the wait. Try the exotic bomba and the green tea mochi!

I thought this place was pretty good. I used a groupon and got some Hibachi with a few family members. The food was decent Hibachi, flavored and seasoned well. The ingredients tasted fresh and I enjoyed the chef's presentation. We also ordered Crab Rangoon, which were pretty good as well. I liked the ginger dressing on the salad, but I've had better. I would definitely come here again. Nice little atmosphere and great service.

Absolutely annoyed... Here's why: - Waited 10 minutes before we were greeted by the waitress. - my wife's entree came first and by itself. - the entree was wrong - another 15 minutes, after she finished her entree, a runner came with one of the two ordered appetizers. First person we'd seen at our table since the entree was delivered. - no apologies - I asked to get whatever was made to-go as my wife had already eaten. - no apologies - was brought a bag of the food and the bill... For the full amount, no less - asked to see the manager, he came, I explained what happened. - no apologies - took 25% off the bill, handed it to me and walked away - no apologies - to top it off, we left with still no linens on the table... Just the chopsticks which were preset. We've been here 3 times before for hibachi and had a great time. First time in the dining room - fail. If management is ok with this, then this place is doomed to fail... Such a shame.

The food was delicious. My wife had a sushi lunch special and I had the mango chicken lunch special. Both came with miso and salad, mine also came with a half California roll, rice, and dumplings. The sushi was well made and delicious; the mango chicken was well balanced between sweet and spicy. My daughter had a chicken udon dish which was typical but well done. The whole meal came to about $42, which is pretty excellent to feed two adults and two children. My son was fast asleep on the bench next to me until they came in banging a drum to wish a guest happy birthday. We will likely be coming back.

This place was great. I came here on a Monday night to try the half off sushi and hibachi. The sushi was great, the hibachi was so-so. We had expectations of it being like shogun. The hibachi here isn't super salty like most places, it's more sweeter. We didn't sit in front of the grill as it was a 40 minute wait at the time around 7pm. With the hibachi half off we thought it was a steal, which it was but the portions were not big at all. I would never pay full price for the hibachi here. Always go Monday or Tuesday if you want to try out their hibachi. Again, the sushi was great, no complaints there.

Very good place. I've been there a few times already. A little bit too pricey to go regularly, but when friends are visiting from out of town, this is one of the recommendations. The food and service have never disappointed. The manager/owner is very attentive and will usually stop by the table to check in if the floor is not busy.

  • Andrew B.

The sushi is delicious, the menu is large, the prices are reasonable, the drinks are good. From the white tuna maki to the Indian pancakes to the fried rice, I would recommend everything I've eaten in the five times I've visited to date. The ambience is fun, spacious, and eclectic, with a lighted bar, a giant buddha, a sushi bar, and a large habachi section in the rear. I love that the habachi is separated from the rest of the restaurant so that it doesn't dominate the aesthetic. Additionally, there's a happy hour EVERY DAY from 4-7pm and 9pm-close during which a large portion of the sushi, hibachi, drink, and appetizer menus range from 25%-50% off. The service is friendly and generally pretty quick as well. I've been very impressed with this place and I recommend it to all my friends. My favorite Japanese restaurant in the Rhode Island area, hands down.

Koto is my new favorite spot for sushi & drinks after work. Amazing happy hour deals, exceptional service, & great atmosphere. Recommend the avocado salad, lettuce wraps, & man tais. Sushi is fresh & made to order. Love it!

Second lunch time visit to Koto. Presentation is still very beautiful. Fish is fresh and rolls are tasty! But! A surcharge of $3 for one quail egg on top of my ikura sushi?.. This is something new. ))

Worst place in woonsocket! Only time people eat there is on half price night. Food is poor quality, if you can't take an order properly you shouldn't be on the phone, it's worth the ride to Yama Fuji, Enn, or Oki's, good luck in woonsocket with your Blackstone river sushi! McDonald's of sushi!

  • Maryann M.

This sushi place was actually pretty good I order a glass of Chardonnay and the sushi and sashimi for 1 it was Monday so it was 30% off what a deal, the presentation was beautiful my only complaint is that the service is a little slow I'm a fast eater and like to go in and out I don't sit around chit chat. The place itself was nice, bar in the front then tables and sushi bar and then after the hibachi room nice set up. I would be back if I live in Woonsocket but since I don't I will only be here when I'm visiting my mom hopefully y'all stay in business because I love me some sushi and don't want to go far.

The deals on Monday and Tuesday are unbeatable and the sushi itself is top notch. I just recently moved to Woonsocket and I am overjoyed they have a quality sushi bar in my area.

My favorite sushi place in this part of RI. It's definitely worth the trip if you're not from around here! It's a great spot to come for drinks too. The ambiance is the best (I love the big buddha!) and the waitstaff is all very courteous and friendly. :)

Being in the restaurant business for many years, I am absolutely appalled at the service and management I experienced tonight at Koto. We put our name in and were told it would be a half hour wait for 2 and that we could sit and have an app at the bar. Our sushi took almost 40 minutes, so we had it sent to where we would be sitting. I went to check how much longer it would be to sit for hibachi and was told we were already called, so we would be next. We were right at the bar, no one came to check if we were there. We finally sit down and get our sushi with no soy sauce or chop sticks. We got it ourselves. We then sat at the hibachi table for two hours without a chef coming over to cook our food. I asked four times for a refill before I got one. When we raised this to the manager, she got very defensive and basically said we would just have to wait as there was nothing she could do. Many tables that sat down after us were already eating, some ready to leave. The manager blamed it on being understaffed on a busy night, so two hours seemed normal. The only compensation the manager was willing to offer, after a back and forth conversation, was alcoholic beverages...but we were not even drinking. Our entire table was aggravated for having to wait over two hours to eat. When we finally got our food it was very small portions and not very good. Needless to say, it was an all around awful experience and I doubt I will go back. It was my friend's first time there and I am sure she will not have anything good to say about Koto, nor will she go back. In order to keep people coming back to your restaurant, you must ensure your customers have a good experience. Especially the manager. I don't think they understand this, but with experiences like ours, they will surely lose many customers quickly.

Seems out of place in Down Town Woo!! I was surprised to see someone invest so much in an area that is so questionable. I have to say I was impressed with the food and would definitely go back again!! If you live in the Woo and would like to try some different types of food, check this place out! I wish the owners best of luck. It should get a five for being in Woonsocket.

For woonsocket this is a top notch restaurant. Sushi is decent excellent for the price. Staff is nice. I've been for both hibachi and sushi. No complaints on the food. The mixed drinks are a little steep but not outrageous. Five stars from me.

Went here last week with a large group of people. Parking was a plus, the interior was nice, but that is where it ends. Our waitress messed up our orders 4 times; some people did not get their drinks and food. The waitress rarely checked on us. In the end, we had to wait over an hour before we got our checks. Considering price, I can agree with it...if the food was good. Had the beef negimaki (spelling may be wrong): it was overcooked and burnt. Had too much sauce on it, which may be how they serve it (first time I had it) or could have covered the burnt taste. Had the Philadelphia roll: good, but I could not taste the fish. Koyoto's (or maybe it was called Koto's) Prayer: interesting, but no taste. It was supposed to be spicy, but was very weak. I did try some unagi sashimi from someone else's order and that was good, too, but expensive for the amount you got. Had the fried green tea ice cream: no complaints on that. It was good.

The food was good and reasonably priced compared to other hibachi restaurants in the area. There are quite a few hibachi tables, so waiting to be seated is rare. My only complaint is that it was cold inside the restaurant.

I was very excited to hear that a hibachi/sushi restaurant was opening in the humble city of Woonsocket, RI. While their menu looked extensive, I only ordered sushi. First off, the quality of the fish used was superb. It was fresh and it did not taste rancid like sushi from other establishments (hello, Jackie's Galaxy in Cumberland...yeah, I'm looking at you). The sushi I ordered was beautifully presented. The sweet potato tempura roll was very creative, not overly salty, but had a surprising crunch factor which made for some delightful bites. The Philadelphia rolls had a nice balance of creamy avocado and cream cheese, crunchy cucumber, and fresh salmon. The decor was nice. I did not feel that I was walking into a bomb shelter. Nice, clean, simple. I feel that if my food feel on the floor, I could totally honor the time-tested "5-second" rule, although I think floor sushi doesn't have much marketability. I had to take a star away because the waiter was a bit of a space-shot. He kept forgetting chopsticks and condiments. He also performed my most irksome waitstaff maneuver: not writing down my order. And not surprisingly, he got a portion of my order incorrect. My overall opinion was not soured because the manager stepped in quickly to rectify the problem. Hopefully this place sticks around to give the terrible Chan's Fine Oriental Dumpster some competition. If the quality of the food continues, it will soon be Woonsocket's premiere destination for fine oriental food.

Service BAD and SLOW. The food is ok but the service is consistently heinous so as long as you go into this place knowing that you're good. Takeout orders that take an hour, in house food service food that takes an hour, not being greeted for for upwards of 10 minutes. So don't come here if you have to be anywhere quickly.

My husband and I have been here a couple of times and although they seem to be getting busier, the food quality and quantity seems to have taken a hit. We were excited to have another hibachi place in the area other than Itchie in Franklin and really liked it the first time. However the past two times we have been disappointed. We always sit at the bar and have ordered apps, kitchen entrees and hibachi in the past. This final time we both ordered hibachi at the bar, entrees which were $27 a pop - me the sea bass and hubby the steak and shrimp. For $27 the portions were ridiculously small and I am not a big eater. I think there were five pieces of veggies on my plate! The bill came to close to $100 and my hubby does not drink. This is in Woonsocket next to a Motor Inn, lol. We will not be back unfortunately unless it is just for drinks.

Although the exterior of the building leaves a lot to be desired, Koto hit it out of the park with decor and ambiance when we walked in. The food was, dare I say, a notch above my go-to Hibachi place in North Smithfield Yama Fuji. Presentation of the sushi was fantastic and includes lights! The scorpion bowl was good, but didn't top the one from Asia Grill in Lincoln. My only disappointment was that our Hibachi cook was clearly less enthusiastic about his chore of preparing our dinner than the guy at the next table over.

Food was great and the workers are pleasant. Definitely will eat there again. They're also really good with kids I make it a great experience for the whole family

Been here a couple of times and it's been great! We had Hibachi both times, once with Leon and once with Dennis and even though the show is somewhat the same, it's great. The kids loved it today. The food has been good in Hibachi at least, but we haven't tried the sushi or regular dinners yet. Outside is neat, but is looks tough. Inside, however, is all new and very nicely done, as well as very large. Neat and clean. We had salmon, beef, shrimp, scallops and vegetables and all were perfectly done, not overdone. We'll go back and God knows Woonsocket needs some good restaurants, especially to replace the lost and lamented Vintage.

After driving by it every day since the day it opened, and after glowing reviews from multiple coworkers, my wife and I decided to try Koto Steakhouse. On a Monday night, which is a half-priced lunch, sushi, and hibachi night, we were suprised to only have to wait ten minutes to get a seat at a hibachi station. Unfortunately, the short wait for a seat was very misleading. Once we were seated, it took about ten minutes for the waitress to come to our hibachi station, and attempt to take our drink order. I say attempt, because she decided to try and get everyone's drinks while the other waitstaff were singing "Happy Birthday" while banging on a drum. She didn't make an attempt to wait until the singing and drumming was done, nor did she even apologize. Little did we know, this would be a recurring theme throughout the night. After taking our drink order, we watched our waitress walk over to one of the serving stands, thinking she was going to get our drinks right away. Instead, she used the stand as a hang out spot, sipping on her drink. I would be fine if she needed to take a couple of minutes for a mental breather; working in a high-stress, fast-paced environment myself, I understand the mental toll. We watched the waitress go to another area of the restaurant, which we presumed to be to get beverages, or to help another table. I'm not sure whether she got sucked into a black hole, but it took fourty minutes, and us complaining to the manager, that we still had yet to receive our water with lemon, and Mountain Dew. The manager was not any better; just like her employee, there was no sense of urgency, apology, or attempt to take care of us. Both the manager and waitress who served us also kept coming up with excuses as to why what little service we requested was taking so long, such as there were no clean glasses at the moment for beverages. Once we had our drinks, we were finally able to place our food order. I ordered the filet mignon with scallops, and a California roll on the side, while my wife had the chicken with scallops. Another person at our hibachi station was trying to order the red snapper meal, but the waitress was giving her a hard time, saying that "they don't have red snapper on the hibachi dinner menu," when it was clearly in the menu that is online and in the restaurant. After travelling to another black hole, the waitress let that patron know that they did in fact have red snapper. Again, no apology. Thirty minutes later, and another complaint to another server that we hadn't received the soup or salad that came with the dinner, we were finally able to eat. Thankfully, my California roll came out at the same time, finally giving us something to sample. The roll was delicious, and tasted like it had been freshly made, and not just lying around in a cooler case for hours. About twenty minutes after receiving the soup, salad, and roll, the hibachi chef came out. He saw how angry and upset our entire station was, and made sure to put on a great performance and take care of us. The food was cooked perfectly, and tasted excellent. Both the filet and scallops were nice and tender. We made sure to express both our satisfaction and gratitude to the chef for doing a superb job in a rather bleak situation. To put the cherry on top of the service we received, when bringing the last round of drinks to the station, brought my wife a cup of ice, but no water in it. She then commented that she made such a mistake, then walked away with the cup of ice. She never returned with an ice water for my wife. It's a shame that the service we received, or didn't receive, ruined what should have been a fun and pleasant experience for us. The food was awesome, and the chef did a great job performing. Had the service been better, I would consider eating there again; now, I won't even get take out from this restaurant.

This place has only been open for a couple of weeks, but it is very, very good!! I've been to a few hibachi places before, but this place tops them!! They show a hibachi joke about a chicken laying an egg; had us all 'rolling on the floor' laughing!! The food is excellent, waitresses are very attentive, the chef was excellent; funny, talented, and simply amazing! We will be back!!

If you folks have not been to Koto Steak House yet....you are seriously depriving yourselves of a terrific experience. Took the wife there for her birthday and we could not have been happier. We decided to eat in the bar area which is huge...with 4 big screen tvs, and a wonderful little bartender named Suki. They have a massive hibachi room as well, with no less than 12 grill tables. We started with sushi...Rita ordered the California roll and I had the Philadelphia roll, and both were outstanding. For entrees she ordered orange/ginger duck and I had the crispy peanut chicken with peanut sauce. The food was phenomenal and I can't say enough about the friendly and efficient staff.

People of Northern RI--embrace this place! There is something for everyone-- fresh and tasty sushi, hibachi for entertainment, traditional Asian dishes, an attractive bar... Our food was attractively prepared, staff was accommodating, and we enjoyed our meal. Teryaki beef was a bit tough, but mango tuna salad was perfect. We will return.

What a surprise, great sushi in Woonsocket. It's not in the most picturesque location, but it really was a pleasant surprise. We caught the tail end of happy hour and everything was at a great price. The bartender was friendly, with lots of suggestions. We got several dishes and everything was pretty impressive. Like big city sushi impressive. We didn't try the hibachi, but what we had was good enough that I'll probably go back. I really hope this place succeeds, it's great to have a sushi option nearby.

We were a family of 12 sitting at the hibachi and everyone was very pleased with our meal experience. The restaurant was very clean and inviting and our chef, Leon was great. We've eaten at many hibachi restaurants in the Washington DC area and Koto Steak House ranks high among them. A very accommodating and attentive place. We highly recommend Koto Steak House!

I went with my husband, son mother in law and uncle. This was our first time. I called a head of time to ask for gluten free table and they said "sure!" We arrived around 7pm and gave them my name and party number. I doubled asked the woman for a gluten free table. She advised us that we will alone. We Sat down at our table after waiting 20 minutes (which was ok) Then all of a sudden she host Sat 4 more down at our table around the grill. After waiting 15 minutes for our waitress, we told her our situation and she told us she would need to talk to someone. After 20 more minutes she came back and told us we couldn't be surved food at the grill because the soy sause they used wasn't soy sause. So I told her that 2 times I was told that we would sit by yourself and it wasn't a problem. She said "well I'm sorry but your food will have to be cooked in the kitchen." by this time is was close to 8pm. And we just wanted to eat. So we agreed(we had no choice) Everyone was starting to eat and our food wasn't at our table yet. Finally it came out! I ordered steak and shrimp(with rice and veg of course) well after being already upset my food was cold, steak was burnt. Along with the vegs. The rice was piss cold. Everything was cold! We had to wait 1/2 hour for our Bill....1/2 hour just for a box to bring my mother in laws food home and the service was rotten!! We arrived around 7pm. And left at 9:30!!! I WILL not go back to this place. If you like cold food and horrible service..then this is the place. Very disappointed!

I've been here a few more times since my first time and I don't know what happened but the service is awful, the first time I went it was great. I've been here four more times since then and every time I've gone the service has been horrible, waitress no where to be found. I will not be returning here.

I wish I could give Koto zero stars. I never leave reviews but this place is that AWFUL!! Do notttttt go here on a Monday or Tuesday night. Yeah, it's half off but it's not worth it. My friend and I waited THREE HOURS to eat. The service was absolutely terrible and our whole table was upset. While we were sitting there waiting to get served, we watched three other tables come, eat and leave. The waitress was horrendous. She took our drink order four times and we still never got them until we complained. When a woman from our table got the manager, the manager just said sorry and there was nothing they could do. This was my first time there and 100% my last. Go to Ichigo Ichie in Franklin,MA (15 minutes down the road). Been there many times and the food and service is never anything less then awesome! Spreading the word that Koto sucks!!

I'm leaving 3 stars for now, because I have yet to be impressed. I was pretty excited that a hibachi/sushi restaurant was opening close to me. It looks pretty typical compared to other hibachi places I've been to, but I like it. Unfortunately, this place is never packed, and it makes me feel bad for the owners. Doesn't bode well for business. My third experience here was just so so. My seaweed salad was overdressed and too sweet. The lollipop roll, though healthy, was missing some flavor. My sashimi was tasty and seemed fresh. I haven't had anything amazing here yet. I'm waiting for that one thing that grabs my attention! They're currently offering 50% off sushi rolls and selected entrees, so if you want to give this place a shot, Monday and Tuesday's night be a great place to start.

My favorite hibachi in the area! I've tried several different menu items since they opened and their sushi, hibachi and grilled entrees are all great. Drinks are yummy, staff is awesome, we have never had a bad experience here. Prices are great as well, lots of $5 mixed drinks and awesome sushi lunch specials.

Pleasantly surprised. This place is in a tough location but once we got inside the decor was nice, very clean and TONS of hibachi tables. The food was awesome. The prices were awesome too and I had sushi and it of course, was also awesome. I hope people give this place a chance. They also have happy hours and half off hibachi and shrimp on Monday and Tuesday. I got a groupon which got me in the door but I will be going back for sure.

So Amazing in every way. Can't wait to go back. The location is not so great but once you walk in you forget where you are. I hope the word spreads around and they get more business. Definitely strongly recommend. My new favorite restaurant! The only reason I did not give 5 stars is because It took a long time to get our drinks and a while to take our order and get our checks. They just need to pick up the pace a bit. Service was friendly so it made up for it.

My husband and I had a great experience at Koto Steak House. Our server was very warm and welcoming. The decor and food presentation was sleek and impressive. I absolutely LOVED everything that I ordered which was a Love Potion, one of the cocktails they have, and the Superman Roll. My husband had a Pink Lady Roll which he really enjoyed due to it's bright, fresh taste and a Lobster Roll. We shared their shrimp and vegetable tempura appetizer. Both of his rolls were good but in my not so humble opinion, mine was The Best and really, you can't go wrong with excellently made tempura anything. I just had a piece of my leftovers from last night and right now I'm thinking if I could, I would probably eat there every single day. I will be going back. Five stars!!

I had previously given this restaurant a very good review. However, my last visit was extremely disappointing. We often get sushi here, as it's the only local spot to do so. This most recent trip, we found the sushi to be sub par. Items we've had there before we're not prepared properly. The sushi fish was chopped finely, almost like a tartar instead of traditional sushi. It is very unlikely that we will return.

I'm visiting Woonsocket for a business trip (I'm from NYC). Based on the mostly positive reviews and an urge for sushi, I decided to give it a shot. I was pleased that the rolls did not have too much rice. Some places overkill it with a lot of rice. So far that, I was pleased. I ordered the following items: Spicy white tuna roll - very full of fish and was tasty. Not too spicy. Salmon cucumber roll - much more cucumber than salmon. Eh. Superman Roll - this is one of their special cooked rolls. This came out after I finished the first two rolls, probably because it was cooked. It had a lot of flavor and was presented well. All in all, Koto was a good restaurant. Not the best sushi I've had, but it satisfied my craving and the service was good. The only things that could have made it better would be refills on the green tea and to bring all rolls out together.

We love Koto House! We go quite often for their sushi & drinks. Tried the hibachi once & while the chef was hilarious, the hibachi food itself was not something I would come back for. The rest of their food we tried is delicious. We love the rolls, tuna & salmon are always great, and the soups are all delicious as well. Delicious martinis & basil gimlet. Very nice decor, comfortable bar with a very nice staff.

Customer Service does not exists. Groupon Buyer Beware! They WILL NOT accept an expired Groupon for a take-out order for original amount paid. They will blame Groupon. Even if It turns out I am wrong, the customer is not always right, but the customer is always the customer. I still don't think I am wrong, however, it would have been a nice gesture on their part to accept the Groupon, but they chose to argue and go around in circles with me about how I needed to be a dine-in customer. I did not see that fine print anywhere (only in the heading for the original offer, which I was not trying to redeem, I only wanted the amount I paid for). Fortunately, Groupon refunded my original purchase price. There are so many choices for Japanese steakhouse in the area. I recommend using any coupons soon as I doubt with the kind of service provided,t hey will not be in business long.

I was a little skeptical, as it seems most other reviewers were. I was surprised about the location and really hope that this business makes it. With the decent reviews I decided to give it a chance- we came on a Sunday evening and were one of three parties- including a couple at the bar. The service was good, the place looks nice and the man tais were strong We only ordered sushi but it tasted and looked great. I'll come back and try the habachi in the near future. I say give this place a chance !

The food and the service are so good that one wonders what this restaurant is doing in Woonsocket, but even that is not sufficient to motivate people to drive 20-30 minutes from Providence. If there is enough local demand that can draw customers from rural areas such as Burrillville or Bellingham, then maybe it is possible to sustain a high-quality sushi and hibachi restaurant in Downtown Woonsocket, but I'm frankly skeptical about prospects for long-term survival. The restaurant is very large, with a lot of hibachi tables, a function room, a non-hibachi dining area, and a full bar area. The decor is midscale generic Asian, neat and functional without extravagances such as indoor waterfalls. The exception is a seated Buddha statute in the entrance that is about seven feet tall and lit with constantly changing colors. The problem is that we were literally the only customers during lunch on a Thursday. The reason I do not award five stars is because the dinner prices, in my opinion, are on the high side. Certainly the prices are reasonable, and the 30% discount on Mondays is a big help if you go on Monday, but many items were a dollar or two more than average in the Providence metropolitan area. The lunch specials are excellent deals with two full menu pages of options including 2- or 3-roll sushi combos for $8-11, hibachi meals for $8-12, and "wok and grill" combos for $9-11. Feel free to consider this a five-star review for lunch or on Monday. We brought a one-and-a-half year-old child, and she liked the miso soup and fried rice prepared at the table on the grill. The hibachi chef, Leon, even made a balloon rabbit for her. The only other restaurant that I know about in Woonsocket that even serves sushi or hibachi is New China Super Buffet -- which is an excellent buffet in most respects but like all buffets has sushi that tastes like pencil erasers. Clearly Koto is way above that level, and its food quality is on par with the best hibachi restaurants in the state such as Ichi-go Ichi-e in East Providence. If you're fairly close anyway, go.

I think the outside is a little deceiving, but inside is nicely decorated and clean. Lots of room in the back for hibachi! Chef Daniel was great, food is standard hibachi, but definitely delicious :)

Went here today with my mom, sister, and her husband. It is very nice inside. we all got different orders from the hibachi. From steak to chicken, salmon, shrimp, and veggies. None of us were disappointed. We will definitely be going here again.

For woonsocket this is a top notch restaurant. Sushi is decent excellent for the price. Staff is nice. I've been for both hibachi and sushi. No complaints on the food. The mixed drinks are a little steep but not outrageous. Five stars from me.

This place looks super divey from the outside, but the ambiance is great. Beautiful! We went for happy hour. Great value and the food was fantastic!!
