Good place with good food and drinks and seasonal dessert. New upgrade made to the bar area with pool tables and few booths removed. Still prefer the one on the water front in Warwick. But when you can't make it there this one will do.

Bland...expensive...used to be good but quality has gone down...too bad. I ordered the chicken alfredo. The small piece chicken had no seasoning. The pasta wasnt drained properly and still had water in the bottom of the dish and the alfredo sauce tasted like it was straight from the jar, but the cheap jar. Even bertollis alfredo sauce in the jar has more flavor.

Went to college in RI so I am fairly familiar with Chelos. Have to say, very disappointed to see that Chelos promotes quality ingredients to their customers, yet had to use Chelos ketchup on my burger and fries. Really? The desserts are still fantastic!!!

I am have been coming here for a long time. Great food, excellent staff. Desserts are homemade. Interior should be done over, I don't think it has ever changed. But other than that great place!

Very friendly staff, the shepherds pie was superb and the roast beef sandwich was also very good. I would recommend this place

Unfortunately the bar was full tonight. So rather than getting a table we got take out. I got the reuben. It was very tasty. I've tried a lot of different menu items here and most are good. Only thing I've gotten that i was not happy with was a steak sandwich. Too much fat. Not even sure if it's on the menu anymore as the menu changes seasonally.

Been going to Chelo's for most of my life, unfortunately this location is doesn't live up to the rest of the locations. The few times I've been since moving to Woonsocket, it's seems to always be dirty. Tables left unbussed for quite some time. Servers are less to be desired too, most of them seem to be more interested at socializing then waiting on their tables or taking orders accurately. It's a shame.

The Bourbon Burger was awesome, Chicken fingers on point but the steak and Smash were mediocre. Drinks are a little weak more like 85% water 15% sugar. The staff was friendly our server Leisha was super friendly and even apologize for the steak even when she didn't cook it.

Subpar food. Not even much to write about other then my salad was rotten and manager did nothing..... Waiter also brought wrong desert and still charged!!

I wasn't expecting much from here to be honest but, I'm new to the area and wanted to see what is around. You walk and all the servers were nice and welcoming, made me feel very good about coming in. I ordered the Chicken Parm Sandwich w/ mashed potatoes and I have to say I was very happy that I ordered it. Very good flavor and it was only $7.99. The waiter was also very good and seemed to like his job and wasn't miserable like most of the waiters in the area, so it made things pleasant. I will be coming here again, but I don't think I will want anything else besides the Chicken Parm sandwich!

Great place for food and drinks. Visited here recently with my boyfriend. We sat at the bar because it always seems to be quicker service there, and it was. Drinks were good and not too pricey. Bartender was friendly and open to telling us her favorite dishes there. I personally had the French onion soup and grilled cheese special, around $6 which I thought was a good deal... wasn't starving thus I went with a small meal. It sure was tasty!!! I get French onion soup almost everywhere I go and this one was definitely hard to beat. My boyfriend had the chicken pot pie which looked amazing... definitely made fresh to order and not frozen. We also had mozzarella sticks which was a good sized order. All in all it was a tasty meal with great service and good cold drinks. Before you judge this place by reading the negative reviews, try it out for yourself... I don't think you will be disappointed!

Went with the family for a local, inexpensive dinner for fathers day, got in around 7ish, place was clean (like it usually is) service was personable and quick, brews and apps came out quick enough that through our conversations we didn't even notice the time pass. We chose some of their meals that include desserts and the portions were enough that most of us left with baggies for the next days lunch. Been going there for quite some time and they never fail us... Thank you for a good low key local dinner... P.s. I love wings.. and they have good wings...

First time I ever walked out of a restaurant. Initially, my guest and I were sat at a booth in the back of the bar area. However, we soon asked to be moved because the AC vent above us was dripping on our table. Not a huge issue but the vent the water was coming from had mold or grim all over it. We ordered two beers and and two entrees. My guest had a Seasonal Special -- Bruschetta Chicken. It sounded light and tasty on the menu but was actually a large serving of day-old pasta, two fried frozen chicken patties doused in a garlic-butter "sauce" and topped with canned diced tomatoes. I ordered the Calamari Salad which had a few rings of what I'm pretty sure were fried rubber bands and a balsamic reduction that tasted like Hershey's Syrup. We asked to speak to the manager, told her we were not going to be able to eat what we ordered, did not want to order anything else, and wanted the check. They charged for the beers but not the entrees and offered to let us each take home a complimentary dessert. All-in-all -- AWFUL food and a depressing atmosphere but decent service and still better than Chan's!

Solid 3-stars. This reminds me of most chain places (Fridays, Applebees, Ruby Tuesdays, etc). There is a huge selection to choose from and they have certain nights where they offer a great deal (something like, appetizer, meal and dessert for only $9.99? Don't quote me on that though). The service is pretty good - friendly and quick enough. It is very loud, though. I've been here a few times and have always been satisfied with their food, though it's hardly gourmet. They have some healthier options (and many more incredibly unhealthy options). I highly recommend the sweet potato fries.

As a boy my parents used to take me to the original Chelo's on Mendon Rd in Cumberland RI. I thought that place was great. The new incarnation in Woonsocket is like Denny's with a liquor license. The food is fair. The service is poor at the bar. There are better choices in Woonsocket like Kay's for sandwiches and River Falls for dinner. The last time I was in it was practically empty and the service was still lacking.

My husband and I have been to this place quite a few times and I got to say the meals are always great! Went last night and had to get the delicious clam cakes for my entree I got a bacon cheesburger with the awesome steak fries!!! Then for dessert I had a heavenly piece of banana cream pie!!! So tasty, I was thinking I should have bought the whole pie to take home!! Very Yummy!!! Our waitress was very curteous and friendly. All in all we had a good night!

I had never been to a Chelo's (to my memory anyway) before meeting my boyfriend, who grew up in Woonsocket. For some reason, all of our Woonsocket friends absolutely love this place. Two of them even had their wedding rehearsal dinner in the function room upstairs. I've been to Chelo's a handful of times now, and it's alright I guess. I'm just not sure I understand the Woonsocket obsession over it. Will I return there if I'm ever hungry and in the area? Sure. Chelo's pretty much just your average chain restaurant with a wide selection of average quality food. They do some cheap drink specials, which is a nice little bonus. The last time I ate there, I ordered a turkey burger with sweet potato fries. My server asked me if I wanted cinnamon sugar on the fries, and I declined, since I usually find sweet potato fries to be tasty enough by themselves. Well, I discovered why Chelo's puts cinnamon sugar on theirs. For some reason, their sweet potato fries are almost tasteless. The turkey burger was very tasty, on the other hand. The next time I returned, I decided to try the sweet potato fries with the cinnamon sugar. Better, but still kind of bland. I guess next time, I'll skip them. Their specialty drinks are decent, and not insanely expensive. They come in pretty big glasses and tend to run in the $6-7 range. They're very sweet, which isn't generally my thing, but if you like your drink to taste more like dessert than alcohol, you'll enjoy them. The service has been friendly but a little bit on the slow side both of my last 2 visits. Overall, I would say that this is a place I would return to for the bar and maybe to nibble on some apps, but I don't think I would go out of my way to get a table here for dinner.

Just moved to Woonsocket from the Manhattan area, and this was the first restaurant I've tried. There were 4 people in my party, and all food was pretty tasty. We all had specialty drinks from the bar, which were all good. The only real gripe I had was with the service, which although it was friendly, was kind of all over the place. It took our server a good 5 minutes just to get our drink order in because she had to keep checking with the bartender because apparently the bar was "low on stock". I'm sure I'll be back, though. :-)

Not impressed, it's just OK. White clam chowder temp was tepid...not even warm; few if any clams in the clam cakes (aka fritters); lobster wrap was boring; desserts are too large portions--enough for two. Our server was friendly and accommodating. For the number of people in the place for lunch, it seemed to take too much time for our food to arrive. Surfaces felt tacky and women's lavatory smelled. Two out of my three stars are for the server, the remaining star is for the food.

I love Chelo's. Growing up in a town in RI where there is a Chelo's, I've eaten there a hundred times. Salads, soups, sandwiches, are always good and at such a reasonable price. It's my go-to place when I want a quick, affordable, casual meal that I know will be good. However, I have to say, I find the Woonsocket location to be the worst of all of the Chelo's I've been to, and I've been to all of them. Perfect example...this past weekend the hubby and I went there for a quick bite. Our waitress had to be new because she was clueless. I order a Root Beer and it was brought in the bottle, no glass. My husband ordered a Jack & Ginger and her response immediately told me she wasn't old enough to drink and had no clue what "Jack" or "Ginger" was short for. Our drinks took a while and when I asked for a glass, it came significantly later, after I was already served and began eating my salad. Then, it was delivered without a straw, but I figured I'd cut my losses and drink straight from the glass. We asked for bread which was delivered without bread plates. We asked her opinion on the Sunday special of family style chicken and her response was that she had previous customers send it back because it came out cold so not to order it (example of other issues at this place that night). I ordered a roast beef sandwich, med-well (I know, it's a sin to eat it so well-cooked, but I'm preggo and don't have a choice!). It was delivered medium rare and I had to send it back. My husband ordered the roast beef STACK (totally different sandwich, on rye, with thousand island dressing, lettuce, cheese & bacon), but she brings him a plain old roast beef sandwich identical to my own. So he had to send his back. So, overall, I recommend Chelo's, but not the one in Woonsocket.

If you are looking for a place the brings back memories of a bad meal in a family restaurant, then this place might cause a PTSD flashback. The only thing keeping it from getting a one was the pleasant server we had. The steak I ordered was an odd grey color, and my wife's pasta was overcooked with a Ragu like substance on it. It's a chain, and not a very good one at that.

I can say I didn't get sick eating here. It is about like a low grade Denny's. There are two good places to eat in Woonsocket. One is 'Vintage' and the other is an upscale italian joint. If you think Denny's, Applebee's, and Taco Bell are good, you will like Chelo's.

Continuing my trek through Woonsocket on my "Get Reacquainted with My French Canadian Roots Tour", I just had to stop by Chelo's and have a bite. Chelo's is as good as it gets. The service is top notch. The place is clean and the food is great! But it's not total nirvana. What it lacks it makes up for in value and service. Two of us tried Chelo's famous White Clam Chowder. Rich in minced clams and potatoes, the milk-based stew was creamy, hearty and fresh. Two of us had the Chelo's Seafood Chowder. It's creamy milk-base is loaded with clams, shrimp, whitefish, potatoes and more! The subtle blend of fish enhanced by a dash of clam juice make this Chowder the best they have in the entire state. And no bowl of chowder at Chelos is complete without clam cakes! Chelo's clamcakes are the biggest, freshest and most tasty among the hundreds venues scattered around Rhode Island which offer them. You'll never go wrong with a Chelo's clamcake. And, for a real treat -- break one up in your bowl of chowder -- a nautical taste sensation. For Fish and Chips there are only two places in New England which have the best and they're both in Woonsocket! Chelo's comes in as first runner up to Ye Olde English Fish and Chips but nevertheless, the dish earns a 5 star rating on Yelp. Nice, fresh and large portion of white fish deep fried in alight, crispy batter. Their homestyle meatloaf dinner is as homey as it gets. Hint to the chef -- a little less salt, please. Last but not least is their grilled chicken dinner. Two nice boneless breasts grilled and loaded with flavor. Of course there are the multitude of sweet sensations from their fudge brownie sundaes to cheesecakes. They even have a few desserts for the sugar-free crowd. If the review for the food hasn't caught your attention -- try this one for size -- they have $8.99 dinner specials every day! Four of us ate for $100 and that included 4 dinners, a dozen clamcakes, 2 bowls of clam chowder, 2 bowls of seafood chowder, fresh baked rolls with butter and four sumptuous desserts. And, of course a couple of glasses of wine, four coffees, etc. Oh and that hundred bucks included the tip! So, for the value, portions, service and quality Chelo's is THE place in Woonsocket.
