This review is for The Haversham House facility, not the restaurant (that is good too though). We held my daughters wedding there Friday, December 27th and we found the staff to be very competent for the event. They were courteous, prompt, and nearly invisible! Invisible is fantastic. It happens when an event runs smoothly and no one is wondering where their salad or entree is...the meals were served and the conversation flowed. Erica ran the evening with style and grace and we could not be happier with the entire flow of the evening. She asked the right questions and that knowledge provided a base for the evening that allowed minimal interruption during the event. Oh, and let's not forget the food. We had the chicken francaise and stuffed haddock. Most of the plates went back empty when I looked around. Each dish was served as if it were the only one ordered. The food was served hot as well which doesn't always happen for a large plated service. I would not hesitate to use Haversham again for a special event! More importantly, I would recommend the venue to my friends and family. Day one after the wedding and we have already received several calls telling us how wonderful everything turned out! Thank you Erica and the rest of the Haversham staff for making it such a great evening! Your hard work is what made the night so seamlessly great! Art Bassett

My fiancé and I went there for dinner and ordered soup and a couple of sandwiches. The soup came out and was pretty good, but almost 40min later and still no sandwiches. We asked the waitress and she seemed surprised we didn't get our food and went looking for it. The cook then came out along with the manager and was looking around on tables as if the food had been delivered to the wrong table and they would be able to find it and then serve it to us? The manager looked at us blankly and simply unapologetically and said " I guess we lost your food". We said we would just leave at that point and he said "okay". It wasn't the fact that it took so long, because things do happen in the restaurant business, but he simply just failed to offer any customer service-- just a mere "okay" and let us walk out. Needless to say we will not return. P.S.--- we still had to pay for our soup.

My husband and I wanted dinner at a low key place close to the bed & breakfast we were staying at. This place was the perfect match. Tons of TVs everywhere with a variety of games on. I ordered the French Onion soup, which had a nice mix of cheeses on the top, perfectly browned. The broth was very refreshing, and the crouton was a perfect medium size so as not to distract from the rest of the soup. I had the Allagash Ale, which was nice. My husband ordered a tuna melt which he enjoyed. The service was attentive. The set up of the place is a little weird. There's a mixture of high top tables and regular tables. It looks like you're in someone's house that was haphazardly turned into a restaurant. A bit awkward, but the food is good and you can easily watch any game you want with a decent beer, so that in itself makes it a worthwhile place to go.

3 stars - for now. Could easily rate 4 if the service was faster. I've been there twice and each time (weeks apart) the food took way too long to arrive. It's pub food, and shouldn't take close to an hour for burgers, nachos and a salad. Other than that the food is very good. The portions are large but not insane and the food tastes homemade and fresh. My only other complaint is that it's very LOUD in the place. Between the 7 or 8 large TVs and the overly amped up rock n' roll background (foreground?) music, it's hard to have a conversation or really just kick back and relax. Speed up the service, turn down the volume, and this is an easy 4 star joint.

Menu's hit or miss. Good clam rolls but I shouldn't have ordered the french dip. Bonus points: Nice bar!

We hit up the Haversham Tavern after having a terrible experience at another establishment down the road. We were Thirsty, Hungry, and Irritable by the time we walked in the door but all that quickly dissipated! There was a large group of us but we were quickly seated and our drink orders taken. Drinks were cold and refreshing and we quickly ordered food (did I mention we were STARVING after waiting almost 3 hours elsewhere). I ordered the Turkey Avocado burger but mentioned to my friends that I had had the clam chowder and clam cakes here before so they ordered those. Another friend ordered the French Onion soup. My Husband ordered the Ribs - he usually does :-) . Everything came out quickly, hot, and smelling delicious! My burger was great - big and juicy with a thick slice of tomato and plenty of green leafy lettuce - the sauce they make for this burger is YUMMY, creamy and spicy. Michaels' ribs were tender and just the right amount of sauce. Our friends agreed that the clam chowder was great as well. After dinner we ordered desert - Cinnamon dippers and a big brownie sundae which were shared by the entire table. These deserts were to die for! The Haversham Taverns Ashley made our day! She was friendly, cheerful, and put up with all our shenanigans! Thank you to the Haversham Tavern for making a terrible day into a great one! We will be back and we will bring more friends!

In the Westerly area, this is always a favorite. The restaurant is well laid out and always managed well, you may have to wait for a table but they have adequate space. The service could be better at times. The burgers here are some of my favorites, they just have that extra special flavor to them. Highly recommend if you are in the area!

Eight of us ladies went for lunch last month and everyone raved about her food. I had the portabello sandwich with grilled vegetables and two bites into it I ordered another one to take home to my husband. Across from me, a friend custom-ordered a lobster salad dish, and next to me, a really good Italian cook was thrilled with her pasta dish. I have had the Sunrise Salad, and Fish and Chips on other visits. Each time I was very pleased and so were my companions

Food, excellent. Service, needs some work

My husband and I recently moved to westerly. We love trying new restaurants. We have been to the haversham 3 times. Usually. 3 times is a charm. Unfortunately not this time around :( as the food is always delicious and the first two visits the service was excellent, this time the service was sad. Jessica was our waitress. She made us feel like she wanted to "be anywhere but here" she lacked personality. There were no formal greetings, no thank you for coming, it was just blah! Too bad they don't wear name tags because the other waitress is awesome. She's a short brunette girl. The chef does dish out great tasting food. I guess next time we're here we will just hope that Jessica is not our waitress or she's in a better mood.

Update: I went back to the Haversham yesterday because the food is very good. I was prepared to wait. I'm so happy to say that the poor service has been addressed. There were more servers & everything was very prompt.

An awesome place, definitely a classy taverna, love the TVs and bar area, lots of great noise and well presented and tasty food. Beer was also a hit. Will be back!

Dont go here!!! I only sat this so you dont go and make me wait. I've been a couple times and my parents go almost every weekend. The building and property is quite nice. The staff is very inviting, friendly and helpful. The food is great (pub food/casual dining done right). I recommend the nachos (share), the buffalo wings (dont touch mine) or the french dip (with sauted onions). Ohhh man. Tough to get into on the rush hours in the summer and the crowd is going to be the typical crowd on wing nights.
(5)M M.
Service was incredibly slow and we waited 45 minutes for food after we ordered when the restaurant was reasonably quiet at 1:45pm. I will say we were a party of six and all the food was very good. The grilled veggie portobello sandwich was very good. We all enjoyed our meals but slow service and waiting forever wrecked our experience. Wine was a little expensive too. $12 a glass for Rodney Strong Chardonnay. That's a little much. They should think about serving local Chardonnay.

We had our wedding reception at the Haversham House in June. It was honestly such a good experience that I cannot recommend it highly enough. If I could give it 10 stars I would. The staff is awesome. They worked with our budget and really made our planning so easy. Everyone raved about the food- it was so good! The place was well-organized, very clean, and beautiful inside. I would recommend The Haversham to anyone planning a wedding or another event. It was a wonderful experience and I am so glad we held our reception here.

Recently I had two weeks to plan a surprise birthday party and I called on Erica, the Events Coordinator at The Haversham. On 3/2/14 the party took place and it was a huge success. There were 42 guests, and almost all have commented on how good the food and the service was. Erica and the wait staff did an excellent job.

Great burgers & I had the best pecan crusted chicken salad with blue cheese & cranberries. Yummy food and good prices. There's a bar area, and two separate dining areas with big windows. The seating in the bar area is a little noisy, but to be expected. There's also a great little gazebo with tables to have a drink while you wait for a table. The grounds are very pretty. Happy to have a nice, cozy place like this in town.

The Haversham is a great new addition to Westerly. I guess I shouldn't say "new" anymore, because it's been around for 6 months or so now, but, it still feels new to me. Everyone knows the location as where "My Mary's" used to be, but I wouldn't know, as I had never been there. I've been to the Haversham multiple times now. The food as been good every single time. You're going to find a mix of American pub food and seafood. They have some grilled pizza as well. As for things I've tried, well: I've had the nachos. It's a HUGE portion. They're really good too, although sometimes they're a little light on the cheese. My Grandfather likes to ask for extra cheese whenever he and I go there together. I've also tried the Chicken Almighty, which is a breaded chicken sandwich. Ma's Homemade Mac & Cheese was decent as well. My go to meal is the Red White & Blue Burger. It's an 8 ounce burger covered in blue cheese, hot sauce, and ranch dressing. Delicious! When picking your side, you can choose from fries, sweet potato fries, and homemade potato chips. The sweet potato fries are really good, but the homemade potato chips are the way to go. You won't be disappointed. My only complaint is that the service always seems to be slow, every time I go, no matter who the server is. I don't know if this is due to the waitstaff, the kitchen, or just a coincidence, but it's something that I've noticed. If not for this, my rating probably would have been 5 stars. The Haversham is a great place to go to grab a beer, have lunch with friends, or have a birthday celebration. It's one of my favorite places in Westerly.

Went here with the entire family when we were down visiting relatives. We had a large party and had to be put in the front room because of our size. It was FREEZING in the room. We asked that they turn the vents or lower the air and they weren't able to accommodate us. How can you enjoy your meal when you have to use our napkin to keep you warm?
(2)Justin B.
Food was great flavor was on point. Customer service on the other hand our waitress was ill mannered and had a dry personality. The waiters and waitresses are not uniform. I would consider this a very casual dining experience there could be better customer service...
(3)Melanie H.
This is probably my husband and I's favorite go to resturant in town. We have come time and time again without any issues with the food or service. The Cobb Salad and dual Meal with ribs and Chicken are the best. The sangria is amazing both white and red. The only downfall of the place is that the bar itself is much too small only seating about 6.

Came here with MY GF and a couple of friends this past Saturday to catch the Bruin's game.. Our friends got there about 15-20 minutes prior to us and put our names in for a table.. We walked in PACKED! So.. There are flat screen TV'S everywhere.. but really not much space to speak of.. if you do not: (A) Have a table or (B) have a seat the relatively small bar.. We had to stand in that awkward area where you are ALWAYS in other people's way, or the wait staff.. We could see a nice sized flat screen TV but standing is not what you want to do while watching your team play... The hostess told us there are MANY people ahead of you and we were already half way though the first period.. I was getting annoyed.. However, (and, again, did NOT get his name) clearly the manager (maybe owner) came over to us and asked us if we would like to go down the lower function area where there are other TV'S, it is quieter and a full bar? Ah, yes please.. We were basically the only ones at the bar, watching my Bruins, awesome! That was so incredibly great of the owner/manager to offer us that!! A+ my friend... They came and got us about 20 minutes later and our table was ready.. It is basically a sports fan's dream where we sat.. High top table, surrounded by dozens of other Bruin fans, but about 6 flat screen TVS.. Our waiter was super efficient, knowledgeable and just great.. I ordered clam chowder which was hot, creamy, loaded with clams it was delicious.. I also ordered the chicken parm which was fantastic.. Breaded nicely, cooked to perfection, not overloaded with cheese and sauce, very good.. This place is fantastic, man they have it right... Just be prepared to wait.. But it is so worth it.. Below based on 5 stars SERVICE **** FOOD **** LOCATION **** ATMOSPHERE **** DECOR **** RESTROOMS **** OVERALL ****

We love this restaurant, food is consistently great. The staff is very professional. Service is fantastic. A delightful dining experience. This GM knows exactly how to run a successful restaurant. Unlike Rhody Joes in Wakefield. Try the sirloin tips, they melt in your mouth, unlike Rhody Joes.

Went to The Haversham based upon Yelp reviews. This was our first time in Westerly. I forgot what I ordered the first time we visited which was on a Wednesday night. The manager told us that they served prime rib on Fridays and Saturdays. So we went back that Friday for the Prime Rib which was very, very good. There are TV monitors everywhere with different sporting events. The place is typically crowded and the noise level is high. I was happy with our meals and the service was also very good. We will definitely go back if we find ourselves in the Westerly area again.

Told 20 minutes to be seated but waited 50 minutes. Nice landscaping and also very nice inside. Very loud once seated. 6 large screens. It was so loud that I could not understand why they turned up the sound system to hear the tv. It just got even louder. Food was great. Had to wait to get silverware. Actually my wife had to go and get it. Dessert was very good too. From the time we got there to the time we left was a hair over 2 hours. 4 stars cause the food was good. I will try again to see if it was just that particular night..I have noticed other reviews that says the service is slow..If you are going out with friends to dinner to hang out the wait is ok...If your just going out to eat with the family the wait is long.

Real pub food, for a fair price. Where to sit-I say the high tops are the way to go. If you are lucky you will find some real talent behind the fireplace stage on Friday and Saturday nights- great covers of classic songs. Food-I highly recommend the Sunrise Salad- a healthy dose of fresh greens, protein and most importantly-flavor. But if you are not on a diet and eat seafood you must and I say MUST have the Clam Cakes and Chowder! Some of the most scrumptious I have ever experienced. Just do it.

Went here with the family, the food was good and the service was friendly. I had the avocado turkey burger, they were out of avocado so they gave me guacamole. The sweet potato fries weren't hot, but the meal was still very good. The problem is that it takes way too long to get your food. When you have kids, they start climbing the walls after waiting an hour for their chicken fingers. Nice place, beautiful grounds, but I wont be back. Maybe for a beer at the bar, but not for food.

Ok, third time trying The Haversham. Kept going back because the food is really good. However, service...not so much. First try, decent service. Second try, bearly passable and this past Thursday night atrocious. At Haversham, the customer is NOT always right. Three strikes and you're out. We will not be going back. A shame because venue and food are good.

Wanted to watch the football game on a Sunday night so we sat in tavern area of restaurant. Good beer selection. House wine was good and very inexpensive. Broiled fish was excellent quality and piping hot. Sides were well prepared and tasty. Add in good pricing and a $5 coupon on back of Stop and Shop receipt and Haversham is a winner. Best value for the money in the often overpriced Westerly area..
(4)Byron K.
outstanding ny strip steak with bacon and bleu cheese crumbles. beer selection excellent and had feel of up scale sports bar with tvs everywhere. excellent lobster seafood selection. perfect choice and amazing that it is here in Charlestown.

We went to the tavern on Saturday night to eat and watch the Patriots preseason game. We waited 30 minutes for a table and then 40 minutes to be served dinner. That would have been okay had we been able to watch the Pats. But not one of the 10 televisions had the Pats game. Turns out their Direct TV could not get the local station. Food was very inexpensive and okay. The place was loud with a fun tavern atmosphere.

I met my cousin here for a birthday dinner before the dinner rush. The night started off a little poorly as I was waiting for her at what I guess is the back door for half an hour and she was waiting at the front door. Since they seat from both areas I didn't realize I was in the wrong place and the waitstaff never clued us in that hey there is a lady also waiting for someone at their other entrance. This did give me time to take in the ambiance. The atmosphere in the backroom is an odd mix of dark Pub/sportsbar (SO MANY TVS!! Like inches away from each other) and quaint cafe with high seating by windows that look over the green scenery. The front room area is more well light and bright from the sun and windows but the tables are close enough together that I did have a waitresses butt brush but against our table as she tried to get by with another tables order. It also meant that when a noisier family was seated near us we could have participated in every conversation. That said...the food was freaking fantastic. My swordfish was buttery and coleslaw tasty and fresh. My onion rings delicious and some of the best I've had. The prices were pretty reasonable and the service pretty on top of it despite not clueing us in on each others presence earlier. I will say that my cousin got a steak and some fixings and they need to do something with their plating. I think if they made the plates smaller it might help or add some garnish? It looks like little islands of food on a large expanse of plate. This was especially bad on my cousins dish. I definitely want to go here again and try other dishes...so minus some eccentricities a definite recommend.

To start off the facility is great, lots of parking a lot of tables and a beautiful bar. If you want to watch a sporting event this is the place to go, they have a 90 inch TV in the bar. Been here twice, sat once in the bar at a high top and once at a low top in the restaurant. The first time I was here I had the red, white and blue burger with the Haversham chips. Instead of ranch on the burger I got extra blue cheese on the side, because the combo of Gorgonzola and ranch didn't appeal to me. The burger was great, cooked just the way I asked and the hot sauce was not too overpowering. The chips were interesting they weren't fully cooked inside and we're kind of thick so it was basically a round French fry, I did enjoy them though. The second time I was there I had a French dip sandwich, only downside I wish the bread was toasted so it didn't get so soggy. The waitress suggested I try the sweet potato fries and that was a great choice, the best I've ever had. The au jus served with the sandwich was nice as well. Our waitress Tiffany was fantastic. They don't take reservations but they do have a call ahead policy and I suggest that because it can get pretty busy.

been there couple of times, can't say i'm a fan per se, but they do have some solid food offerings. lobster roll was good last time i had it (tho hub complained this time that his didn't have much meat), clam a la sham (pasta w/clams) was great (a bit salty at the end, and quite heavy thanks to the cream butter sauce, but the clams were cooked well!), steak looked good. i must add, too, the pasta had some presentation! not only the clams where placed around the plate (that's easy), but the pasta was twisted and packed with care, not just loosely scattered on. now that's not something you see every day - takes someone who cares about what he/she brings out of his/her kitchen to attend to details like this. on the other hand, the calamari, while cooked well, was served with pickled peppers and marinara sauce - if i wanted pasta sauce i'd order the pasta, you know. so that's a small minus. service was decent both times, though i still get that semi-snooty vibe esp from the hostesses. they were actually friendly, don't get me wrong, but there's just this "country club" feel to their welcome. maybe the clientele also makes us stand out...but i digressed. back to our server, the second time we dined with people with food allergies, and our waitress handled it well and nobody got sick afterwards so kudos for that. they also didn't have a surcharge for the gluten-free bun, which is also a plus. anyways...there's a bar with tv toward the center of the establishment, making it more casual than it appears to be. one major gripe: no baby changing table in the bathroom!! no one ever ate here with a young child? 99 has a bar too, and you bet they are equipped with a Koala Care, so don't even try to tell me i shouldn't expect it from a place that appears higher-end than that. and they obviously host "partys" (as seen on their sign out front. LOL) and weddings.... no guest ever came with young children that could use a proper changing table instead of the marble between two sinks? very interesting... all things considered, 3.5 stars. Yelp really should let us do half stars bc I feel stingy concluding with a 3. still not entirely a fan, but i'll give them a 4 since compliments outweighed the complaints.
(4)Foodie K.
I've posted before with pix. Just to say this time that once again, never disappointed here. Five of us this past Saturday sat outside the entrance surrounded by flowers and it was perfect. We all liked what we had. Always a great portion at a reasonable price. The fish and chips, the grilled veggie wrap the red, white and blue 8 oz. burger; and two other dishes, all outstanding!! Our waiter was Jonathan who was also very personable and also very funny. And despite his recent knee surgery, did a great job up and down the stairs. BTW, he takes great photos. Don't hesitate to ask him. Always here and look forward to more great dining experiences.
(5)Jasmine G.
Great location! Beautiful place/atmosphere! Wonderful staff! I loved the homemade chips! Your food is delicious and worth the wait! Passing through from Missouri and continuing on to other states, I'm glad I stopped here!
(5)Alicia D.
The food was very good. The service was lacking! Sekar was our server and was less than impressed with us. He was constantly reaching over us, ignoring our table or talking to us while his back was actually turned. We decided to pass on dessert because he was taking too long.
(2)Ann F.
This restaurant would be ok ...BUT the manager is awful!!! He must be related to the owners, because no one else would put up with his crap. He sits EATING & drinking...and not leading his staff. His bad attitude has rubbed off on the entire staff. There are so many many wonderful places to eat in the area ...don't waste your time and money here!!!
(1)Meg P.
A group of us went to the Haversham to watch our Alma Mater's opening football game (GoCocks!) and had a wonderful time.....that is until we were out the door. The food was good, the beer was cold, and USC kicked some Tarheel butt. Most of us work in the food service industry, so we felt a bit shameful when we gave our server, Vinny, a mix of cards with different amounts (that we explained on the back of the receipt) and cash. He did a great job all throughout our stay, recommending beers for the group and putting up with our shenanigans. We were very appreciative of his service and left him better-than-average tips. As we were unlocking our cars, we runs out after us and yells "Thanks for the nice tips!" We said, "You're welcome," to which he replied, "No, I was being sarcastic. You didn't leave me anything." Turns out, he forgot to check the credit card slips to see that we had, in fact, tipped him. I understand that everyone makes mistakes, but I did not appreciate being harassed in the parking lot. One, he should have checked his slips before coming to find us. Two, he should have handled that situation in a far less aggressive manner. Next time, find a manager and have them approach us respectfully.

As a local decided to go out for a quick drink with a friend. Grabbed a couple of seats at the bar. Bartenders were attentive & friendly. We shared nachos and enjoyed a couple of drinks. The atmosphere was very pleasing. The food was quite good. The service was terrific. I'll return again soon. What a great find!
(4)Mary-Ellen K.
Nice looking place and casual atmosphere. We went there for lunch. I had the lobster roll and I really liked it. Their homemade chips are really great. A lot of tvs. A lot. The service was....awkward. There weren't many people there yet they squeezed those of who were there into one corner making it hard to get in and out. There were plenty of people working there but our food took a while to arrive and while we did get asked if we wanted drink refills, we weren't asked at the right time when we needed it.

My husband is the executive director of a local organization that held its annual banquet at the Haversham House recently. I have only good things to say about this charming place. First of all, the building where the event took place is a pretty, quaint building set back off the road. In warmer weather, there's a pretty gazebo where, I was told, weddings often take place. The event room will make such a good immediate, impression on your guests as they enter. The night of our banquet, a light snow was falling outside - lovely, mature trees framed the large windows that ring the entire room. On either end of the room, there are large stone fireplaces framed. On our winter night, each fireplace had a crackling fire. Chandeliers dot the room - they were turned down a bit making the room so inviting! The staff is thoughtful about how they set up a banquet. We had a buffet which they put just outside the room - they used both sides of the buffet table so the guests moved quickly through the line. The food was very good! The broccoli was not overcooked and the steak tips tasted charbroiled. SO good! There were 100 guests and everyone was happy with the dinner. Often at banquets, the dessert is such a disappointment but not at The Haversham! The chef put out an assortment of house baked goodies: fresh chocolate chip cookies, mini brownies, cake squares and some layered caramel torte squares that made me want to open my purse and steal a few! Best of all, there were too big bowls of vanilla ice cream which everyone devoured. On a side board, we had urns of coffee (regular and decaf) as well as carafes of hot water and a very nice assortment of teas. The price was very good, too. If you are looking to do a banquet or event in the Westerly area, I highly recommend The Haversham House. P.S. Afterward, many of us went next door to The Haversham Tavern bar and had drinks. Great place too!

What a great place. On a recent Friday visit with a party of 12, we soon found out why this place is a local hot spot. If you can't find a beer or wine to choose from you aren't a fan of either. We started our dinners off with incredible soups (chowder, chili, and the soup of the day steak tip vegetable). Several at our table chose to go with salads ranging from garden to mini Cesar and each was a hit. Our meals ranged from chicken parmesan to sword fish. The meals were served as ordered, hot, and in a timely manner. For this we applaud our server. The only reason I didn't give it five stars is because the place was freezing cold on a cool night. The air conditioning was working overtime. Several at our table and other tables had the same reaction, wow its cold in here. With that said come one come all to this local hot spot. Reservations on the weekends are only accepted that day starting at 11:00.
(4)Scott B.
The food in the tavern is outstanding. The event facilities are wonderful. However the food and cooking for a wedding I just attended was very bland and plain. It left a lot to be desired. Good thing we ate before we went. Maybe it was just a bad day in the kitchen?
(3)Catherine G.
We have been there on numerous occasions and its been okay. Today was horrible. We waited a very long time for our food, it arrived cold and the swordfish was very smelly. Sent it back and the manager came over with the worst attitude I have ever seen. We won't be going back. No wonder I see the owner at other restaurants in town!

No, just no. I went for the first time for my birthday two weeks ago as I've heard great things. I was so disappointed. The atmosphere isn't bad, my mother complained about it being loud but that didn't bother me at all, I actually like a loud restaurant. It's strange though because the room we were in was small but really loud, either way it was OK for me but not my mom. Our waiter Sekar was more focused on a baseball game that was on at the time than he was about our table. He spent the majority of the time with his back to us in the other room watching the TV. My husband ordered the swordfish, it was a extremely thin piece of fish, maybe 1/4 of an inch thick and maybe about 4 inches in diameter. A swordfish steak should be thick, at least 1/2 inch, I mean come on, for the price it's seriously robbery serving that miniscule piece. They should be ashamed. My mother ordered a shrimp dish that specifically stated it came with six (6) jumbo shrimp, her meal showed up with four. She said something to me about it and I argued that she must have read the menu wrong; we asked to see the menu and sure enough it said six. We asked Sekar about it and he said "oh well, it usually comes with size 10 shrimp these are 12's" Huh? Why the heck wasn't that explained while she ordered. Not satisfied with that explanation we asked for the manager, he had the same story and said that our waiter should have informed us. No apology from him as he shrugged us off. I'm sorry but if your menu says six jumbo shrimp and you serve four jumbo shrimp (slightly larger) and someone complains, you should just honor what your menu says or at least offer a free drink. Neither happened. My meal was just OK as was my sisters, nothing special, could have gotten the same at Olive Garden. This place is overpriced also, four people, couple of drinks each and the bill was over $270 and not worth a penny of it. Spare yourself the bad service, over priced, small portioned, mediocre food and drinks. Go elsewhere.

We had dinner at the Haversham Tavern after reading mixed reviews on Yelp, but decided to give them a try as it was local to where we were. The overall experience was OK with some of the food pretty good and other items average, as best. The only problem with that is that I don't know the menu and which items are good or not so it will be tough to go back especially since there are other very good local restaurants. The atmosphere feels like two separate restaurants as the high top tables in the bar area are lively and fun and the front room is like a retirement home. The wall separating the rooms need to be taken down and replaced with all high tops.

Excellent value and very accommodating. Service was quick, professional, and engaging. Staff handled a party of 19 with two last minute additions smoothly and efficiently on New Year's Day. I only found one downside and that was probably influenced by a large crowd on a holiday and the layout is a bit chopped up, but the other waiters seemed to be put off a bit because they had to squeeze past our group to get to their tables. This may have been just one server, actually. The menu offers a variety of unpretentious dishes but does not over-reach. Seasonings bring out and compliment the natural flavor of dishes instead of overpowering them. I won't comment on the bar's offerings past saying that all in our group seemed pleased, I simply don't drink alcohol. I think fewer tables or tweaking the current layout would serve "The Hav" well. I have been here a few times in the past year and it has been a positive experience each time.

The food selections are all pretty good (with healthier options, and the service was amazing. Thanks Daniella. It's a fun bar/restaurant and a great spot to watch Patriots football.

Massive menu, reasonably priced! Plenty of friendly waitstaff. Mixed grill entree had, ribs chicken and tips - AweSOME! Lobster mac and cheese, delicious. Purple cole slaw - excellent! the only downside, no place to sit while waiting for a table - and I never like it when the prices are not listed on the special sheet!

I go to the Haversham everytime I visit my parents in Westerly. I have had great experiences at the lower and upper buildings and almost always find the wait staff to be personable and honest. Unfortunately the same cannot be said for the hostess up front, an older woman (as compared to the younger girls). She was so rude to my wife that I decided to make my first yelp post. After waiting for a half hour at the bar, we were able to get seats at the packed bar and gave them up to go to our table. Unfortunately the table was basically in the doorway, surrounded by people waiting for dinner. I had an elderly couple looming over me as I sat. When I informed the hostess that this was not an acceptable table and had I known this was where we would sit, we would have eaten at the packed bar she responded, too bad. Gee thanks. I will reconsider my next trip to the Haversham.

Ate dinner here last night and I admit I was shocked it was so busy on a Monday night, but you know what? They pulled it off. Sure it took a bit longer for our food, but they were short staffed. This happens...people get sick/call in at the last minute. The important thing is our food was great (flat iron steak/fish & chips - huge/french onion soup) and our waitress was pleasant and efficient. The prices were very reasonable as well. We'll definitely be back.

The Haversham Tavern is a great find! Best fish and chips I've ever had! Our waiter John was amazing! When traveling the scenic coast of Rhode Island you must stop in.

Just left this restaurant. The facilities were excellent, our server was friendly, prompt and attentive. The food was delicious. Recommend going early due to the fact that this is a popular location, and by 5:30pm there was a line starting to form for seating

I have enjoyed the place many, many times. It's a little load, but good food and good atmosphere. Unfortunately they commit handle the summer crowd at all. We were told it would be an hour wait. It turned out to be 2 hours. Once we got a table, it took over an hour longer until the food came. What a disaster! Maybe a cold winter Monday night would be ok, but don't come here on a Friday or Saturday night in the summer. They are too poorly managed to handle the crowd.

Overall, ok. The front room is more restaurant with low tables and a wall in between this room and the bar area. It's a bit quieter...usually with older diners. The bar area is a little more hopping and a bit louder. A good beer selection for it's area, the apps were pretty good as well. The entrée I had, Teriyaki Chicken, was an average entrée. Average isn't an insult, I got two chicken breasts with two sides for a reasonable price. The chicken was a little overdone, but was still tasty and was priced reasonably for what I received. If you are a foodie looking for wow factor, this isn't it....but if you are looking for good food at a reasonable price, this is a good spot to land.

My fiancé and I went to the Haversham last night for the Bruins/Blackhawks game seeing they had an "all you can you eat" wing deal during the 1st game of the Stanley Cup Finals. We arrived about 7:30pm (30 minutes before the game) and it was fairly packed, but not overwhelming. We sat in the bar area which has 9 flat screen TV's, a small bar, and mostly high-top tables. The place certainly filled up as soon as the game started though. Food: We each had the French onion soup - which was very good (very cheesy). We also took advantage of the all you can eat wings - why not right? The 3 flavors to choose from were: Buffalo, BBQ & Sweet Chile (also you can order them plain if you want). The Sweet Chile was by far my favorite, but they were all good. The wings were on the average to large size, naked (un-breaded), and delicious. I'd definitely order them again, especially the Sweet Chile style. Drinks: They had at least a 10-12 beers on tap and a long list of bottled beers. A 25oz bud light draft was $5 and bud light bottles were $3. Decent beer prices for sure. A glass of the house Pinot Grigio was only $4.50 (certainly generous with the pour). We didn't have any mixed drinks, but definitely a decent amount of beers/wines to choose from. Service: Anticipating the large crowds for the game, the staff was fully prepared. There were waiters/waitresses everywhere, and a few members of management walking the floor at all times. Our waitress was very friendly and provided great service. No complaints at all with the service. Overall, good experience and definitely would go back. Enjoy.

We were looking for a place to watch the game and having no luck when we saw their sign advertising $9 wings with NFL games as we drove by what looked to be an upscale event facility. We didn't expect much but it turns out this was a great place to watch the game. The facilities were beautiful and the bar area was comfortable with great viewing of the several large screen TVs. The food was good and priced reasonably and the staff attentive even though the house was full. It all seemed out of place with the upscale atmosphere of the surroundings but it worked. We'll definitely be back.

Stopped in Feb. 10th to get take-away lunch for my wife and I. My wife got the portobello mushroom with grilled veggies sandwich. She indicated the sandwich tasted great, but was hard to eat because there was no binder to all the veggies (ex. a little melted cheese) to keep them from falling out. I had the standard cheeseburger (med-rare) and asked if they could grill some onions to add on. I don't mind paying a little extra. I was told yes. When I got home and opened the burger to add ketchup, the "grilled" onions were actually pieces of onion rings. Hello chef, to lazy to peel an onion and sauté it? That said the burger was pressed junk (taste like ALPO) and surprise, not med-rare. No flavor, obviously not handmade in the kitchen. How hard is it to purchase ground beef, mix in some ground pork and or other options and hand make a good burger? Apparently at the Haversham that's past the ability of the owner/chef combination. A good burger is the mainstay of a good sports bar or pub. Do NOT order the burgers here unless they change the current method. I gave one extra star for past performance and the fact my wife liked her sandwich.

My husband and I had been given a gift certificate. We went on a Friday night around 6 PM. Had to wait 15-20 min for a table which was fine. Our waitress was fine and tried to make things as right as she was able. I ordered the scallop special. The food came and my scallops were raw. I asked the waitress to send them back, which she did. She told us she would bring out bread, "as soon as it is ready". The bread came and had obviously been frozen. Some was warm, the rest was frozen. We sent that back as well. My scallops came back and it was obviously the same plate I sent back, that had just been stuck back under the broiler. The scallops were cooked, but the edges were burned. The waitress told me she had given me a new, hot, baked potato. Great! But now, the broccoli, which was a side dish was ice cold. We had to ask for a discount on the food and the waitress even said, "All I can do is bring you want they give me". No apologies, no trying to make up for the poor kitchen service. We won't be going again. Obviously, the kitchen can't handle a busy Friday night crowd. Sad.

I checked out the Haversham for the first time Sunday night during the Giants/Patriots game & came away a fan. I only ordered wings but they do have an extensive menu that looks promising. If the rest of the menu is as good as the wings then the Haversham should stick around for a while unlike the previous restaurants before it. The sign out front advertises 25 cents during NFL games which I couldn't resist. They only have 3 flavors (buffalo, BBQ & sweet chili) but they were a good size & very flavorful. I try wings everywhere I go & can safely say they are the best in the area. They have a pretty good beer selection too & (like Keith T.) I would recommend the Drifter Pale Ale! For 30 wings & 4 beers I spent $31 with tip. The property is beautiful outside with stone work & impecible landscaping. The inside is warm & inviting. I sat in the bar area which has an abundance of flat screen TVs all turned to NFL games. They advertise that they have the DirecTV NFL package which I don't think anyone else in the Westerly area has. I'm 34 & I think I was the youngest one in there though which didn't bother me but I found it odd. If you're looking for a classy sports bar that has great wings & a great beer selection you need to check out the Haversham. I can't wait to go back.

Stopped into the Haversham for a Tuesday night dinner, and enjoyed a lovely meal. There were a handful of folks at the bar, and 6 or 7 other tables full of guests. The chicken wings were delicious. Ordered buffalo and sweet chili and they were outstanding. My father ordered the daily special mushroom soup and it was outstanding. Delicious fresh mushroom flavor. For and entree, I ordered the sirloin tips in bourbon glaze, and they were cooked perfectly to the correct temperature. Tender and delicious medium-rare. The broccoli was fresh and steamed just right. The twice baked potato was pretty good, but could have used a little more garlic or Parmesan. My pops ordered the Shroom burger and he said he was in heaven. It disappeared from his plate before I even saw him take a bite! Overall, I was very happy with this place. The waitstaff was very friendly and attentive, and the interior of this place was very classy and clean. Seems like its Westerly's happenin place!!

Was planning our Wedding last year and met with Jack. We then made plans 2x for a follow up to go over the venue with my then fiance. Jack forgot our appointment both times! Then the weekend before we had mentioned might be our wedding date he called us to confirm!! We booked elsewhere and had a perfect experience but couldnt believe that it was assumed we were still getting married at the Haversham when we never went so far as to put down a deposit or choose the menu, ect. We did book our rehearsal dinner there through another manager. After we told Jack that we were not having the wedding but were having the rehearsal there and why things ended up going the way they did he offered us free drinks for our dinner. That seemed like a generous gesture until they never honored it!!!! I'm sure someone is doing something right with the events and the space is very nice but I wouldnt give any credit to Jack!

The Haversham was a bit of a HaverSHAME. Went there with my aunt, cousin and grandma and was surprised at how slow our waitress was and how infrequently we saw her when the restaurant was almost dead. She also charged us $1 each for the twice-baked potatoes that we had as sides when they ran out of regular potatoes. Not cool. My aunt, cousin and grandma all ordered the baked haddock which looked a little gross in its plate, sitting in some kind of yellow liquid, probably butter. The fish was very dry - a sign that it was not fresh but frozen. I had the "Clam A La Sham" and was disappointed with the amount of peppers & onions (ew) and the sauce. I was expecting a light clear broth with garlic not a creamy mess. The clams were juicy and very good but the sausage tarnished the flavor of the meal. It was very unnecessary and gave it a sour, almost rancid taste. Baguettes were fantastic. We ordered a slice of chocolate fudge cake and cheesecake for dessert. The chocolate cake was dry and had obviously been sitting in the fridge for a few days. The cheesecake was much better with the hot fudge but the graham cracker crust was a little soggy in some parts, indicating that it too wasn't the freshest cheesecake in the world. It was pricey, the food was less than average, and the service was very slow. Was not impressed and will not be back. I'll give it another star for the incredible decorations and ambience. What a havershame.

We went with a big group for our annual cousins dinner. They were very accommodating, great service, nice table (we sat in the front room). A bit noisy. The food was good (I had a special which was salmon in their bread crumb seasoning) and everyone seemed to like what they ordered. Prices were reasonable for by the shore.
