Went this past Friday and while the food was on par with our previous times there, the service was abysmal. We were seated promptly, and our water glasses were filled and bread delivered quickly, but that was where any semblance of timing was lost. We waited a good 10 minutes without being attended to, and we were only helped because I finally flagged down a hostess/manager-type to ask if we could have a server. When our server did arrive, he was noticeably un-personable, like he would rather be anywhere but there. And this attitude continued throughout the meal, with the pace of taking our drink orders, appetizer order and entree order proceeding at a snail's pace. Now, I am willing to give them the benefit of the doubt as we noted that other servers seemed to be a little more on the ball. But if we ever decide to go back and the guy we had this weekend is our server, we would either request someone else or leave.

Real fun place on the weekends! They had live music in the bar area (it was a little loud if you ask me but I'm an old curmudgeon). Looks like a good place to pick up MILF's. I had the Clams Remington which was the best clam dish I've ever eaten. I was... CLAMoring for more! Sorry about that... That was bad.

Simply put love the Remington House. I wish it had a better location, they sure do seem to lose a bit of business during the summer, to restaurants which have better views of the bay. Nevertheless the bartenders and servers are friendly and knowledgable. The Remington has a great warm ambience. It can get a bit noisy by the bar, so try to grab a table in the adjacent dining room. Great seafood specials, calamari and stuffies are excellent. Prices are moderate, certainly not overpriced as some have said. If you are lucky, you might even be waited on the legendary Conroy. If that's the case you will be sure to pleased and get the full Remington house inn treatment.

I visited the Inn last night for the 2nd time. The first time i sat at the bar and the service was great. Last night I went for dinner. Our server was fantastic, sweet and attentive. The house drinks are fabulous. We split the calamari (because of the great reviews it received on this forum). The dish was gigantic. We were so full that we ended up splitting an entree - the Veal Braciole, also delicious. I will definitely be going back.

This is my favorite restaurant in Warwick. I love their calamari (just the right amount of crunchy breading on the calamari, plus just a hint of the lemon) and the Remington House Steak (always cooked to perfection, and the blue cheese glaze is not overwhelming, just perfect!). I do agree with other posters-if you go on a Friday or Saturday night around dinner time, you will have to wait. But the wait is definately worth it! The service has never been less than great for me. The bartenders are friendly and can be very creative with their drinks if you ask for something special! I love this place!

I have been here twice in the last 3 years only to redeem gift certificates. It is a mystery how this place is still in business. I agree with other reviews that the service is lame. I dined after 8pm on a slow Thursday night and had to wait 10 minutes to get drinks ordered. The water boy zombie who had the personality of a wet noodle filled the water glasses without saying a word. Maybe I expected too much by him asking at the very least how we are doing. We ordered the potato skins for an appetizer. The bottom of the skins were burnt so needless to say we weren't off to a very good start. After 30 minutes, our entrees arrived. My girlfriend ordered chicken parm with sauce on the side. The sauce was ice cold. My niece ordered a side of mashed potatoes that again were ice cold. I had a chicken dish which was mediocre at best came with a baked potato that was undercooked. The waitress was not to be seen again. I have learned my lesson not to dine at this place. It is geared for the 60+year olds who have lost their taste buds and can afford to sit at a restaurant for 2 hours for mediocre (at best) food. If I receive a gift certificate for this place in the future, I am putting it in an envelope and giving it to someone else. I won't subject myself to eat here again even if the meal is free.

I've been to the Remington House several times over the past year...i've sat at the bar and had dinner...each time the bartender was pleasant, engaging with everyone at the bar and quick to refill an empty glass. the impressive thing is that I had different bartenders each time!! Well done on that account! The food is extremely good especially at the prices they charge. The Chicken Piccatta I had on my last visit was a perfect blend of butter, wine and capers. Like the first review said, it's a good date place, but i'd recommend you sit in the dining room as the bar is acoustically loud.

The prime rib is delicious, the side of veggies were al dente the way they should be and they were not covered in oil and spice. The drinks were average. The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is for the price per plate. They didn't offer anything over the top and I think everything was alittle over what it should have been.

Stuffies were delicious. Service was lame. Beer was cold. Meals are pricey. Cool old building.

I've been here several times and the food has been fantastic. They have a great martini menu too! The soups are delish! I prefer the bar area to watch tv and people watch, but the dining area has a fireplace and is just as pleasant. I highly recommend this place.

Found this place by accident looking for a place that came up on urbanspoon under 'lobster' - that place looked like it had been closed for a while, I was super hungry, and I drove by this place on my way there. They didn't have lobster, but they did have very good 'stuffies' and I had fried clam appetizer as a meal. They were good. Entrees were, what I thought, overpriced. The menu was sort of boring for being so close the water. The beer was cold and overpriced ($6.25 Sam Adams). Not sorry I went, but wouldn't recommend it or go again while In the area.

I recently ate here in a party of 6. I found the restaurant charming and some of my meal was quite tasty. The calamari was among the best I have ever had. However, the service could be described as mediocre. In addition, four of us ordered the prime rib which was a special for the evening. Personally (and disappointingly) it was the worse beef I had ever eaten and honestly we should have sent it back and asked for another entree. It was so tough that I could not cut it with my steak knife without "sawing" it back and forth repeatedly. I brought my leftovers home for our dogs, but decided it was not even suitable for them, so it ended up in the trash. It is not likely that I will visit this restaurant again.

I drove by this restaurant many times until finally my In-Laws took me for my birthday. There was 6 of us in all. Usually my first time I go to a new restaurant I try to get the special or use a certificate just to make sure I do not overpay for lousy food. When I was told we were going here, I scoped out the menu online and saw the 2 entrees and 1 app for $30 special. That was good enough for me. When we arrived and sat for dinner on a Wed., the other guests in my party asked for the selections for the special and this was when were told that it was not valid for parties over 5. This put a damper on things right away. I don't understand why there would be a party limit on this special or why they wouldn't say that in fine print on the website. Anyway, I ordered the Seafood Risotto, my wife the chicken marsala and everyone else the baked scrod. My risotto came out about 5 min after everyone else was served and it was piping hot, which was fine but it also meant I couldnt eat right away as everyone else was halfway done. The risotto was good, a little rich and too many onions but I still tasty. The portion was a good size too, since i had enough for dinner and lunch the next day. Nobody else complained about the food and said it was good. It took about 15 minutes for the check to come and then get picked back up which was annoying. I might go again, I will just make sure we have less than 5 people so we can get the special.

The Remington House Inn. We absolutely love going there. We usually go in the summer so we can eat out on the beautiful deck. The music playing is also part of the deck experience as well as the heaters on those chilly nights. There is a little river running on the side of the deck and you'd almost never know there is a busy street on the other side of the restaurant while sitting out there. When we do sit inside to eat we go to the bar where we are quickly attended to by Jarret. What a great bartender. He greets you shaking your hand. Initially, the first time you meet him,he asks your name and remembers it every time you go in after. He is extremely attentive to your needs in a very friendly, professional manner. The food- delicious, nice presentation, right temperature... everything your would expect for a great dining experience. As far as the reataurant being dark, I have no experience in this because we always go during the day. I do love the physical makeup of the place. It feels warm and cozy. We have, however, gone in a couple of times where there was no one at the hostess station but because we go to the bar, we just go there. We have had to wait a bit to be seated outside. Not long though- not enough to complain about. Because we live so far away, you know, the RI mentality- greater than a ten minute drive- we choose this restaurant to go to on our dining excursion and we are never dissappointed.

There was some excellent live music there this past weekend. The drink and app service around the bar was not fantastic. Fortunately, we knew what we wanted and when a server or bartender was not responsive, we simply found another server who was. Yes not great news for a business however we got all that we wanted and left satisfied. While it was a Friday night, this may not have been there A-team.

We went tonight to try a different restaurant. So many of the reviews were right on. Good food. Large portions. Terrible service, to the point of watching our waiter from our table in the dining room talk on his phone out on the deck multiple times while we were wondering where he was. Very inefficient service. Plenty of wait staff, but they were more concerned with clearing and wiping empty tables than the people waiting to be served.

There is one name you need to know upon entering The Remington House Inn: Conroy! He's the manager and one of the reasons this old colonial Inn is still on the map, at least for us. My wife and I visit RH often and have become attached to it's warm vibe and cozy atmosphere. Located in Apponaug not far from the Warwick City Hall, RH feels like a safe haven from the roaring, congested traffic and poorly-zoned business planning that surrounds it. With the addition of the deck this year, we now have a choice in being near the water (and some of that noise) or inside where you can eat more informally at the bar (where it can get loud and there are multiple TV's going) or in the dining area. A brief note about clientele: It can be a mix of 40-somethings to seniors here, but mostly it's the 40-50ish crowd. I've seen former governors eating here, bachelorette parties of thirty, families with kids from 1-10, and the odd, for lack of a better description, 'Be-tatted, gelled, ear/nose/brow-studded 'type' saunter in with their 'posse', faces in their phones under the sad misconception they just brought 'the party' to the restaurant-fortunately they don't stay long. Despite staff changes and the odd 'B-' night, the old RH is pretty much on the mark. They are also willing to accommodate special requests and diets in addition to what's offered on the menu, but it may take a while when there's a backup in the kitchen. One thing is certain, Conroy will make sure things are straight when you need them to be! He has an attention to detail and a 'mindset' for how service should be performed (might be his Jamaican roots?). People complain about prices on yelp, but you're going to get what you pay for at most places so Remington House is worth it! PS: Try the Jamaican Banana Sundae for dessert!
