My mom was visiting and we actually discovered this place while looking for anther Thai restaurant in the area. We were so glad we changed our minds! The menu has all the traditional Thai offerings but also some very creative dishes. If you order nothing else, order the Lava mussels from the appetizer menu. The sweet, chili, ginger sauce is so good you will want to drink it and pour it over any other dish you order. Seriously, it is one of the best sauces we had ever had! And the mussels are yummy too. We actually went one more time before my mom left. Again, very yummy! They also have some kitchy, tiki style fruity drinks that are fun.

this place was great! we got the chili fish, drunken noodle and one other noodle dish with shrimp and chicken everything was great.

I only ate here once but the food was really good. I can't say I know the menu well but there looked to be many dishes I want to try. It was quiet and kind of dark in there, very relaxing.

I have been a customer at Thai excursion for a few years now and i have never left disappointed. My favorites are the shrimp excursion, basil fish, and any curry. The service is always attentive and the bartenders are very friendly and can mix an excellent cocktail. I highly recommend checking it out if you enjoy good thai food.

I've been here a handful of times and the food is always decent and the service was always friendly...until my last visit, which will remain my last visit. We ordered the Tom Yum Soup, which should have been called Black Pepper Soup because that's exactly what it tasted like. It was literally inedible. We let the server know and asked if we could have a different soup of equal price instead. She agreed and took away the Tom Yum and brought out another soup. When we received the check she explained that the manager instructed her to bill us for both soups. What's happening to customer service in this country? They lost a repeat customer over $5.

Between the 4 or 5 Thai restaurants I've eaten at in RI, I have to say I think the food quality here is the best. Ate at Thai Excursion for about the 5th time last night and our food was perfect as usual. We always start with the fresh tofu rolls, and usually always stick to the Massamen Curry, which is a hot red curry with onions, sweet potatoes and peanuts. Goes great over coconut rice. A level-two is usually hot enough for both me and my gf and we both like our food SPICY. The hot curries balance out well with a Chang Thai-beer or the Green Tea Martini. Service here is usually spot on, as it's never too busy. Our first time eating here was a bit awkward due to a very "odd" server, but since then we haven't seen him there and have had nothing but great experiences. Food is always fresh which makes a big difference to me. Sometimes at other Thai places the veggies tend to take on a rubbery texture- but not here. I am pretty bummed that they are phasing out the restaurant.com certificates as I purchased several last month. They specified that you call and make a reservation before dining, so that is what we tried to do, to which we were told "they had already taken a couple" that day and weren't taking anymore. Something I've never had happen with a restaurant.com certificate. Oh well, will continue to dine here regardless.

I broke the mold yesterday. Instead of four of us going to lunch, we had a group of FIVE. I am the one who picked this place -- ok, I've been taking over and picking all the places to eat this week -- because every time I pass by it in the afternoon / evening, I notice there are several cars in the lot. This could mean a variety of things: either it's a place of "extracurricular" activities, or it's a place with some good food. Lucky for us, I think, it was a place of good food. It's a smaller place; from what I hear, it used to be a pub and has changed hands several times. It's nicely decorated and clearly has a personal touch. The owner was there to greet patrons and she keeps the place spotless. The menu has a wide variety of dishes that are both chicken and beef, along with some seafood dishes featuring shrimp and scallops. There are also some curry dishes featured from different regions of Thailand. I chose to order the Ginger Chicken, with the optional brown rice. I can't remember what everyone else ordered. When my food came out, it was a cup of brown rice on a plate with the chicken (which consisted of strands of ginger, chicken, onions, and a few green veggies *good God, it was only yesterday, you'd think I'd be able to remember exactly WHAT green veggies*, all in a light brown sauce. I was asked if I liked ginger before I placed my order, and now I know why. I do love ginger added to my food, so I could see if someone didn't like it, they would not enjoy their meal. It wasn't so overpowering that you'd blow flames out the back o' yo ass, but it was just enough to let you know it was one of the main ingredients, besides the chicken. I loved it; ate every bit of it. Lunch was totally cheap; my meal was *I think* $7.99. The restaurant has it's own lot, so you won't have to circle around the block 20 times hoping and praying someone is heading to their car to leave.

Small, simple Thai restaurant with an expansive menu. I ordered a simple dinner of jasmine rice, dumplings and a salad. The vegetables were not as fresh as I would have liked, but it was a solid meal.

It was a while ago that I went to this place for the first time for lunch with a few of my colleagues. That was actually my last time as well. While the inside of the restaurant and the service were very nice, the food was terrible. There were 4 of us, each of us ordered a different thing. However when we got our food, there was one thing in common in our food. Namely: SALT. Everything was way too salty. I ordered gai sabb kapow which was supposed to be spicy. I don't understand how kapow could be salty instead of spicy. As we were finishing our meal, the owner came to our table and asked how things were. One colleague of mine told her that everything was too salty. She sounded surprised to hear that. Quite honestly I think she was expecting us to say good or something like that. So then she said which one was too salty. We told her everything. She asked us what we ordered, so we told her. She then said that was strange, and she was going to check with the chef. So she walked away and we waited and waited and she never came back to our table. She did return to behind the register but she seemed to either not realize we were still there, or be ignoring us on purpose as she did not have an explanation why the food was too salty. It was the worst thai food I have ever had.

All I can say, is, this restaurant will not go into rotation.

Extensive menu with options suit all tastes, friendly service, and a great martinis. I had the Burma Curry Noodles, which came in a silver pot with lid and was packed with flavor.

Was in Providence area on business and wanted good Thai food for a change. This place was the closest so I had to check it out. Service was a bit distracted and did not seat me right away as there was a large group that was ordering... not a problem. Waiter was very friendly and amiable when he came and explained the situation. I ordered an Thai iced tea to get started along with beef satay and the seafood variety entree and got up to use the rest room and make a few phone calls. Came back 10 minutes later and only saw the iced tea. I started on that and it didn't have enough sweet cream in it. The waiter noticed me coming back and brought out the satay. Satay had to be the worst I've had. It was 3 half cooked, stringy, fatty pieces of beef for $6. I would have expected a lot more and better prepared. I've had beef satay forever and this was hands down the worst and stuck in my gullet. Anyway, the seafood entree came which was clams, scallops, shrimp, and squid. There was only 1 piece of shrimp so I was a bit disappointed at that. The clams were the worst. The insides were still frozen! They had 20 mins to prepare this so time should not have been a factor. Anyway, the waiter never came back to ask how everything was until I was finished with the meal. The rest was okay but I came away not getting what I wanted... A truly good Thai food experience.

File under the "I really want this place to be awesome" category. So I land at PVD and am still jonesing for some quality noodles. I had dinner at this place a few years ago with my BFF and it becomes a "let's go". experience. Toni is super nice and I garner that she's been here a long time. She was super helpful but let's get to the chase. Food: Nothing special, a green curry that was more water than spice with seafood that was over done. The yellow noodles were nice and no complaints. Service: Love Toni but have never met a restaurant that could benefit from a front of the house, back of the house re-make. Hope they find there groove.
(3)Ryan M.
The staff here could not be more friendly, attentive and gracious. As I have few Thai-food comparisons, I cannot comment on the bona-fides of the food of the restaurant/bar. I can say that you will not be disappointed by this enterprise, no matter your taste or budget. An experienced friend I take there says that the coconut soup is the best in RI, s/e Mass and the best she's ever had.
(5)Benoit L.
We had a great time!!! I'm a big Thai food fan... Travel to Thailand several times... This food is awesome!!! We had a great scorpion bowl drink (many rhum and vodka and juice + triple sec), chicken say tai, Bangkok rolls, papaya salad and authentic country pad Thai... All delicious and awesome service and courteous staff!!!
(4)Erich P.
Location is a strip mall next to a charming check cashing business. Ate here after a long day and was really hungry... Left really hungry. Drinks were the weakest I've ever had, and that's saying a lot. For what they charge for drinks they should have some kick, not taste like they were watered down. Ordered an appetizer of some fried foods. Everything was bland, tasteless, and extremely overcooked. Couldn't eat it. Told the waitress and she didn't really care. She was nice enough, but after weak drinks and a second problem, it's time to start comping. Had pad Thai and curry. The curry was passable, although nothing to write home about. The pad Thai was borderline overcooked. I get it, it's 'Thai' food in Warwick, what should I expect? The answer is I don't care where I am, if you he food and experience sucks, you're getting a review.
(2)Riju K.
Fairly good food. Nice ambience. Excellent Margarita. The garlic pork was full of garlic, laid on a bed of lettuce. Would have preferred some vegetables to balance the meat. Not bad. My dinner partner enjoyed the seafood pik pow. It was full of tasty seafood and vegetables tossed in a slightly sweet light sauce. It was really good! We split a ginger ice cream. Fantastic, with real chunks of ginger. All in all an enjoyable meal.
(4)Laura A.
The take out is decent, nothing to write home about at all. Coming from the East Side of PVD..this doesn't even come close to comparing to a place like Apsara. The pad Thai was dry and I needed s sip of water after each bite, but it was tasty. The spring rolls had a feeling of being frozen..they all looked identical which made me feel like they came from a box. Wouldn't go back here again.
(2)Jerry S.
Decent Thai food ruined by amateur service. Great by a woman shouting across the room from behind the bar, no attempt to come out to greet the customer. I'm a few minutes a guy comes out but says nothing while this woman is shouting until I finally ask him if I can have dinner. Appears baffled to have a customer. Gives me a menu and then comes back to ask if I am ready to order after 30 seconds. Then drops the line- kitchen closes in 10 minutes. Common mistake - you are open until the last customer that comes in is fully served!
(2)Danielle P.
Eat in rather than take-out. Food is excellent but not as great when I have gotten a to-go order.
(4)Sarah D.
Very good food. All of the times I've been - three times to eat in, the rest for take out - everyone has been very pleasant. This is my second favorite Thai place. Their Excursion Fried Rice is excellent. I'd rate most other dishes as good-very good with prices a little above average.
(4)Amar G.
Nice atmosphere...decent food. Friendly staff, would continue to come back when I'm in the mood for some nice Thai food.
(4)Aaron C.
Toni at the bar was very sweet...at first. Worst Pad Thai I've ever had! It had a very "off" smell to it, which is probably why she recommended I order the one with the Sriracha sauce in it. When I told her I was ready for the check, she asked me if there was something wrong with my meal. I told her that it wasn't very good and smelled a little "off"...she then started challenging me and making comments out loud about how I have no taste. In front of other patrons. She didn't even take it off my bill. So I paid, left her a $5.00 tip and went on my way. Not good...but I guess it was my fault for going to a Thai place in Warwick, RI.

It is unfortunate that I have to post such a negative review about Thai Excursion, especially since my husband and I have been here a few times since we found out about the place, which wasn't that long ago. The food is incredible. We have always been very impressed with it. However, the last time we went, we were seated near another table at which a group of about four or five people were seated. We apparently walked in on some kind of argument between the waitress and one of the group members. We had no choice but to continuously focus our attention on their loud conversation, which made our last experience very, very uncomfortable. To sum it up, the waitress actually had the nerve to say to this woman "you always have some kind of problem every time you come here; I don't understand why you keep coming back." Apparently, the customer wanted the food cooked a certain way, and they don't do that, or something along those lines. Every time the waitress returned to their table, she kept making comments like that, and my husband and I were both completely blown away by the lack of professionalism from this waitress, and that she had the nerve to argue loudly and with a complete lack of respect for a customer IN FRONT of other customers. Everyone in the restaurant was distracted by this. I couldn't believe it, and needless to say, we will not be back. It's a shame, as there is a lack of Thai restaurants near us, but the poor attitude of the staff is not worth going back for their food.

Excellent Thai food and it is very authentic since both chefs are from Thailand. The bartenders are very friendly as well as the staff. Try the Garlic seafood you won't be disappointed. Nice little place right off the highway. Good place to hold small celebration parties. Kudos to the owners!!
(5)Darren F.
This is really good Thai food with a large selection of dishes and apps. Our first time I had the pad thai, loaded with seafood and chicken and not soaked in grease which happens far too often. Tom Kha Gai soup and coconut rice rounded off the meal nicely. My vegan dining companions live right down the street and often come here for veggie and tofu dishes. While we got take out, the inside if the restaurant looked very clean and the service was great. With quality food, good prices and a great location right by the airport, you should try this place if you are looking for a good Thai fix in the area.
(4)Lynn V-c R.
This is a hidden gem in a small area! The martini selection is awesome and delicious!!! The bartender Toni is a doll and makes a killer drink! My bf and I went here all the time. Small and cozy but great place!!
(5)Stacy D.
Best Thai food I've ever had. This is absolutely my favorite restaurant. The staff and owners are amazing. I look forward to going back soon.
(5)Marco D.
Fantastic food, made as seriously spicy as you'd like. Some of the flavors that T (chef/owner) makes are beyond amazing. Toni behind the bar is a fantastic bartender, and makes great drinks to compliment to the food. My only objection is they charge extra for sauces. I really have a problem with this.
(4)Erika F.
Love this place. Tony at the bar is an absolute doll and genuinely loves the food here (and gives great recommendations). Authentic Thai dishes. Great little find.

Landing at the airport at lunch time, I suddenly had a craving for Thai food. Since I was just plain tired and lazy, I searched the immediate area for Thai restaurants and found that Thai Excursion had good reviews. I opted to start with the Shrimp Tom Yum Soup. What I got was a bowl of bland broth with 2 pieces of overcooked shrimp and maybe 5-6 pieces of mushrooms. It definitely did not spark any memories of Thailand for me. For the main course, I chose one of the Chef Specialties, Pik King Gai. This dish was actually made properly. The chicken was tender and the sauce had the right flavor. The vegetables were cooked and crispy and the level of spice was perfect for my taste though in my experience, my level of spice means it is extra spicy for most people. The only complaint I had with this dish was that there were literally only a few pieces of chicken. The server was friendly enough though one of his colleagues scolded him about how to seat people where I can see and hear them. This behavior was unprofessional and I was annoyed that she was doing this where diners can see and hear them. Since the Pik King Ga was more than decent, I am rating them with 3 stars. There's no excuse for the bad soup so hopefully they will make the effort to improve it.

If you want delicious Thai food from a sparkling clean restaurant, eat here. Best Thai food I've had and I've been to plenty of Thai restaurants. Eat here and you won't be disappointed.
(5)Cathy L.
The owner/cook "T" is a phenomenal chef. If you never had duck, THIS is the place to eat it b/c T knows what he's doing. I had the Tamirand Duck w/ a side of sticky rice this week and it was outstanding. Also, the Excursion Calamari was fantastic. I am a frequent customer and every dish T makes is outstanding.
(5)Scott C.
Really close to the airport. They were out of the cucumber salad so i had the regular one with ginger dressing. I found the dressing to be really bland compared to my other thai dressings in the past. Extra dressings were 50 cents.... However the chicken curry dish i had was excellent! I did have to pay 1.50 extra for white rice which I have never had to do at another thai resturant. So its a tad pricey, with a tip my bill was 20 bucks. I may patronize
(4)Mads R.
My husband and I have been a regular customers (eating at least once a week). In our recent takeout , we found a strand of hair. Thinking of it as a genuine mistake we just mentioned it to them. The next takeout also contained a strand of hair, and on calling the restaurant, the person was so rude. He insisted we were the only customers with such a complaint and asked us to freeze the food and bring it. I absolutely love the food but this sort of behavior really made me think about going back and we have completely stopped going to Thai Excursion after that. Try to believe what your customers say and respect them!
(1)Serena S.
Sauces are amazing. Food is mediocre. Place could use a facelift. Prices are average.
(3)Ashley G.
Decent thai. Had the pork dumplings, chicken pineapple rice and pad see ew. Food was fresh and quick! I never see a substantial amount of pineapple in fried rice but I was thrilled to get some in every bite! Bartender left a little to be desired but overall good place for a quick bite!
(3)Lolo D.
I have visited this place with friends many times! It is fantastic! Good service, clean and lot of great options. I love their pad tai and fried ice-cream!
(5)Erica P.
Won't be going back. The restaurant and the waitstaff were great, the food came really fast but... both mine and my date's entrées were horrendous. He swears he'll never try thai food again.
(1)Richard R.
First experience with Thai cuisine. This was truly delightful. Food is fresh, really well seasoned. T's Wings are a must have appetizer. I've had the Mango Curry Shrimp and the Fish Choo Chee and both dishes were excellent. Both are spicy, and that was expected, and a real treat. Very pleased with food and service.
(5)Helga M.
Closest to an authentic Thai meal around here. Really good! My server was oversolicitous, though, and could use a little calming down.
(4)Doug C.
I've only recently gotten into Thai food but every time I've had Thai Excursion, it's been delicious. I'm a sucker for the drunken noodles & the steamed dumplings. The beef satay is tastier to me than the chicken satay and the prices are reasonable. I've only ever gotten takeout so I can't speak of service aside from the fact that everything comes out fast, fresh and with a smile! Also looking forward to trying the Tamarind Pork.
(4)Heidi T.
Baby clams in thai broth were outstanding. Succulent. We took the tiny shells home to add to our shell garden. Great chocolate martini that tasted divine. Since this was our first visit we ordered oldies but goodies. Every ingredient was crisp and fresh. Delightful heat from classic thai spices. Quiet ambiance, without reminders that busy Post Rd is right outside. It is so worth your time and money.
(5)Steven P.
Hot stuff! If you like your Thai food extra spicy, which I do, you're gonna love this place. As it was our first visit, and unsure what to order from the multi-page menu, we followed the enthusiastic advice of our server and ordered that evening's Garlic and Seafood special. The dish featured clams, mussels, shrimp, squid and fish atop a generous portion of Thai noodles, swimming in a buttery garlic and scallion broth. Fabulous! But be careful -- it was extremely spicy, and is guaranteed to put a curl in your mustache. The service was attentive and friendly, and the atmosphere was as acceptable as you're gonna find in any strip mall on Post Road. Tip: hide a water bottle and breath mint in your car for the ride home.
(4)Alyson S.
Our office orders lunch semi-regularly from Thai Excursion. The food is amazing but depending on the day the spiciness varies so beware as some of my coworkers found out the hard way. They are able to accomodate our 12 person order with about 30 minutes of advanced notice. We haven't been disappointed once in the past year!
(5)Kate W.
Wow! Very impressed! My husband and I stopped in quick last night and we were blown away by the delicious food, good customer service, and cleanliness of the restaurant. The waiter was extremely helpful. He was very knowledgable in gluten-free eating as he has Celiac Disease. Makes for a comfortable setting when you know the staff is knowledgable about dietary needs. The tofu vegetable ginger dish was delicious with fresh peppers, pineapple, baby corn, and other tasty mixed veggies. The sauce was savory with ginger undertones. They really do a great job with their meals. Good portions. Very low cost. Quick service, and food came out at a reasonable speed. We will definitely be returning customers.
(5)Brooke R.
The absolute best Thai food in Rhode Island and probably in New England as well The food is authentic, delicious, and simply wonderful. I compare every Thai menu to their menu. Drunken Noodles, Myamar Burma Curry Noodles, Pad Thai Country, unreal food! Best service and bar menu. Go, go, go!
(5)Kevin l.
ABSOLUTELY LOVE THAI EXCURSION!!!! The owners are super awesome and the food is Incredible. I would highly recommend the Pik King Gau or Country Pad Thai! A+++
(5)Reyshelle A.
This is honestly one of the best places I have eaten. Small, clean and intimate it's a great place to go eat whether you sit at the bar or at one of their tables. The service is incredible and all the servers remember their regulars very well. I even left my Burberry perfume there and a month later the waitress comes to my table and says "You left perfume here!" I always start off with the fresh rolls, half tofu/half shrimp with extra hoison sauce. I usually stick to my Massaman Curry dish with either steamed tofu or chicken. Very delicious and the best I have ever had. I have brought MANY people here and heard not one complaint! They are always blown away by the freshness of the dishes. I give them 5 out of 5 stars for their service, attention to detail and their fresh food. Also, went there recently and had a waiter that I hadn't had in months, he remembered my entire order which is rather complicated! (Thai iced tea, half tofu/half shrimp rolls, massaman curry with no sweet potatoes-mixed veggies-chicken or tofu, cashews)
(5)David G.
I cannot understand why more people do not go here on a regular basis. I had read the reviews for a while and had not had the opportunity to go until now. We arrived around 8pm on Saturday night and the place was almost empty. When I see this I tend to wonder how the reviews can be so good and the attendance can be so poor. We ordered based upon the tips from prior reviewers and all I can say is that they were spot on. I have to say that when I see reviews like this I tend to set the bar a little higher than usual. So when the food was served it came as no surprise how good it was. On top of that the price is exceptionally reasonable. I have to say that I will be back and with regularity. Don't miss this if you have an opportunity to go.
(5)Cathy S.
Whenever we travel through Providence, we always make it a point to stop at Thai Excursion! The food is amazing and the service is outstanding. It's a hidden gem along the highway close to the airport hotels. If the Chive Cakes appetizer is on the special menu, get them! They are fantastic. We've had the Basil Chicken, the Som Tom soup, Pad See-U, Pik King Gai to name a few...all wonderful. And don't miss the warm Thai Custard with sticky rice for dessert!! I've read the negative reviews, but I've never had a bad meal there. And the service is always friendly. We look forward to going back!
(5)Jay C.
Definitely more on the "Thai-spicy" side than most - very nice flavor profiles, well balanced. I'll be back for more!
(4)Dave L.
Dined here the other night and had a few dishes. The massaman curry was pretty good, but I've had better in the area. We started with fresh rolls with shrimp which were fair. They were lacking a zesty quality that really good fresh rolls have, and the shrimp was hard to discern. We also got some fried noodle dish, the name of which escapes me. It was good, but nothing more. The waitress was good and very pleasant. I had a beer and others had tea. Not bad, but there are better choices in my opinion.
(2)Tai N.
I used to drive to Providence for Thai food, but no matter where I went it always seemed to be more of an Asian mix being served, with Chinese and Vietnamese influence. This is the first place in RI that is true to Thai Cuisine and only serves authentic dishes, which can upset those seeking more of a stir fry experience. The curry is to die for, the noodles are hard to stop eating, and if you venture into a specialty dish, every taste is mouthful so good it's hard to stop eating. Start with some fresh rolls, fried tofu or T's wings to get you going. The baby clams are so sweet they should be outlawed. Chilli fish, seafood choo chee curry or excursion beef are some of my favorites, but every dish has been tastier than the last. My only caution would be to the heat, they believe in the spice levels here. If you don't like spicy dishes there are options, but be sure to inquire before you order and ask for no star if you'd prefer to skip the heat. This is highly recommended and should be tops on the list for anyone wanting great Thai food in RI.
(5)Janette T.
Love it. Love it. BEST Thai food in RI. We always sit at the bar with friendly, vivacious Toni the bartender. She is simply terrific! Try the basil fish which is spectacular and spicy. Jumbo garlic shrimp to die for! . You pretty much can't go wrong with any seafood here! Do yourself a favor and indulge in Thai food at Thai Excursion. Great martini's too!
(5)Russell B.
3rd night in a row, still 10/10 stars. Get your butts here ASAP folks!!!
(5)Chandini C.
Giving it the benefit of the doubt. I went there last night with a vegetarian friend who often enjoys the food there. The place itself has is cute, chic and dim-lit cozy. Based on my experience with the food, in the future I might bear going there for a drink or two. My pad thai arrived with rather unappetizing gray beef and overcooked tofu. My friend enjoyed his mango curry and two helpings of brown rice. Was not pleased with the food but at least the service was pleasant enough and I always compensate good service with an excellent tip. Although charging for chili sauce in a thai restaurant is little petty. Was not inclined to stay for a possible sub-par dessert so made a quick getaway. Based on the one-time experience : an unfortunate excursion FROM flavor.
(3)Melissa S.
This is my go to place for Pad Thai. This is the restaurants second location they moved a bit ago and the space is smaller but has real charm. I love the lighting and the small bar area. The food has always been really good both when I eat there and when I get take out. Portions are really large so I like to order and split with a friend and then have a drink. I went there last night for take out and they had my order ready in 10 minutes as promised and were really friendly when I came to pick up my meal remembering my name from when I called in the order as well as using my name again when I paid my bill to leave. I will we back soon for sure.
(4)Denise G.
Love, love, love Thai Excursions. It is by far the best Thai in RI. The green curry is my favorite. There have been some off days when we were disappointed in the flavor of the food but those days are few and far between. I highly recommend.

Some Excursion! It was a price to pay as we were lazy to travel further from our airport hotel to find better food. We did takeout(only 5 min away from hotel, so the take out time length had no effect on food!) Chicken Pad Thai - horrendous, the noodles were watery and bland. The chicken was at least a week old. Although a large portion for $8.95, it was just disgusting. Spicy Fish - fish was already pre-cut pieces from a local supermarket, doused with spicy sauce and some vegetables. Disgusting. Coconut Rice - BARF - white rice pasted with a swab of overdue coconut milk. That's what u call 'coconut' rice! Instant stomach ache after i finished. Friendly service, and a very nice setting/bar. Went around 8pm at night, there was no one eating, a few people at the bar only. Get booze, but i suggest avoid the food! I have better ghetto chinese take out food around tha' hood! (yes i know this place is thai)

We have been going here for years- probably at least twice a month...Funny thing is that we invariably order the same five things-pad thai, pad se yu (spelling?), shrimp excursion, shrimp dumplings and scallion pancakes. We have ordered a few other things from time to time, but these are our favorites. The restaurant is located in a strip mall off a main road in Warwick. Despite the setting, it has an attractive décor and a pleasant ambiance. It is family-run, and the owners are attentive to their customers and keep the restaurant very clean. We enjoy the food which is always consistent, and the prices are very fair. I would give them 4 1/2 stars.

I live around the corner and finally got out to try this place on Saturday night. It was oddly quiet, with two servers and only one table other than us the entire time. We started with the Bangkok rolls and Calamari. The rolls were great, but the Calamari was cut quite thick and as a result was a bit chewy. I didn't mind, but my boyfriend didn't care at all for it. The server's English wasn't the best, but he gave us several of "his favorites" and their "famous dishes" as suggestions. Our meals were great! Just keep in mind that they LOVE spice. My boyfriend ordered his mean 3 out of 5 spicy, and was having a hard time eating it by the end of the meal, it was so hot. My Chili fish was great, and the flavor was so good that even though the burn was building, I couldn't stop eating. :-) Our friend got a seafood dish that had the same creeping heat but that he just couldn't stop eating. Dessert was amazing. We each tried some of everyone elses so I tried the custard (to die for!), coconut ice cream (eh, it was ok), and fried ice cream sundae (brain freeze but yummy). I highly recommend this place, and we will definitely be back. My Chili Fish was just one of the server's recommendations, I've got to try the others!

This was the worst place I've been to in a long time. Let's start with the waiter. When I go to a place called Thai excursion, I don't expect to a have a sixty year old affeminate Italian biker with neck tattoos serving me. But looks aside, I asked him if the coconut juice had meat in it and he gasped and insisted that they would never put meat in coconut juice. Apparently he thought I meant beef, not the substance inside the coconut that is referred to as coconut meat. Okay, fine. We order dumplings and when they came out, the dough was soooo thick on them they clearly had just been pulled out of a freezer and deep fried. Sadly, this was the best thing that was served to us. I ordered a beef salad. When it came out and the server put it in front of me, the smell wafting up from it made me gag. This was the worst looking/smelling meal I have seen in years. I asked the server to just take it because there was no way I was going to be able to sit there and stomach the smell and look of it. He insisted that I didn't know Thai food. Okay....well, I've frequented many Asian restaurants, not just Thai, and for two years I lived in a house full of Cambodian refugees who lived in Thailand for several years and made the food everyday, but I guess that Italian guy's right. Maybe I just don't know that Thai food should smell rancid. I ate my kids' food because they wouldn't. My husband wouldn't eat his either. Also the chairs are ridiculously uncomfortable. I suggest that if you are considering going here, DON'T.

I currently live in Boston but I have been to Thai Excursion several times when visiting my friends in the Providence/Warwick area. I love the FOOD... being vegetarian .. I'm tough to please!! I think its simply delicious... everything I've tried! I'll even admit I've tried some things that werent my favorite but I will still say the food is fanatastic! AND the staff is always more then accomodating to alter dishes to my preference. I love Thai Excursion! The food, the cocktails and the staff!!! My Applauds to Thai Excursion! I have to agree with Brian Q the new location is absolutely gorgeous and congratulations on the successful move! Having said that I feel Tiffany's opinion is pretty ridiculous. Say what you will about the food... maybe your taste buds are different from mine and all the others that speak so fondly of the restaurant... But to sit there and speak ill of the Waiter because of his ethnicity and personality just goes to show that Tiffany S is IGNORANT and ARROGANT. What in this day and age... Do you expect to see only Africian Americans at a Soul Food Restaurant or only Jewish people at a Bank or a Gay Man at a Clothing Boutique? Theres nothing better then a Narrow Minded person to make ridiculous statements ... Think before you speak or keep your opinion to yourself. Personally I think that their employing a wide variety personalities and ethnicity shows that the owners are open minded and down to earth and we should all take notes on how to be a better person from them.

I thought the food here was fairly typical fair for Thai restaurants in the US. The service was very good (but the place was deserted on a Tuesday night). We had Ginger Fried Rice, Excursion Beef, and Massamun Curry. I thought all were fine. Nothing to rave over but reasonable enough. The star rating system for heat was a bit off here with 3 stars being more like 5 stars at a lot of Thai places and in RI, where 5 stars is usually 1 star, it was quite spicy but it was very good heatwise. The Thai iced coffee wasn't worth the cost since it was simply a glass of coffee with a tiny splash of sweetened condensed milk on top. All in all, it was good to find a decent Thai place in RI. If you like Thai, this will probably work for you. I didn't see the evidence of the bad reviews below.
