Update: the general manager sent me a private message and she is delightful and took ownership of my experience. I truly appreciate the response and it has made my experience better so I updated from 1 star to 3! My original review: I'm pretty easy to please seeing as I can't cook... Anything typically will please me when it comes to food that I'm not cooking- all it takes is good service and a friendly smile. This is not the first time I've been here. The first time it was right after they had opened and I chalked up my off-pudding experience to it being new... The second time they were pretty busy... Both times the food was great and service was sub-par but it seemed that everyone was at least trying. This time I couldn't think of an excuse. I took my daughter to see Cinderella which was longer than I had planned for and she hadn't eaten a proper dinner. When the movie was over it was 9:30 and I checked Not Your Average Joes website and happily discovered that they didn't close till 11. When we arrived it was somewhere between 930 and 9:35 PM. We walked in the door and there was a man standing at the hostess station counting money. He didn't look up and several waitresses walked over and also didn't greet us. They had a side conversation and apparently the waitress was missing $50 from the night before. The man that was standing there said that this money was not for her. After a few minThe gentleman finally sat us right next to the hostess station. He was not friendly and he clearly wanted to get back to the cash register. My daughter and I sat there for over 12 minutes no waitress or waiter acknowledged our presence although there were plenty at the hostess station complaining that they made more money on Wednesday and up till that point had less than $54. At one point I noticed another man dressed in a button up shirt walk over and start assisting the first man. Apparently there was some issue with money. The banter continued between the two men and two waitresses and my daughter and I continued to wait. When the complaining continued I had had enough and decided to take my daughter home and order Chinese food. At least they were happy to take my money. There are plenty of other restaurants with good food but much better service- spend your money where you'll enjoy it and skip this AVERAGE at best spot.

It's not bad. Per se. We went tonight for the first time. Contemplating to go or not, based on all the bad reviews. Like some others have pointed out, the place lures you with a certain sophisticated vibe, exquisite-sounding menu, but then the experience is just flat. Like, you know, Cowesett Inn level. You end up paying top buck, though. Pricey for what it is. Hubby and I ordered the specials, since those are more likely to be fresh and interesting. Shnitzel+Kugel and then Clams in beer. Blah. Very conservative and uninspired flavor. My soup of the day was spiced pumpkin apple cider. That was actually pretty awesome soup. Great balance of flavors. My autumn spice sangria was so mild and watered down. It probably had less booze than a cooking wine. That's how it felt, at least. Fries that came with the grilled cheese sandwich were pretty dried up, fiberous. Cardboardesque? I wish they carried a good hot sauce to accompany the blandness. The only hot sauce available was watery, hot but not very flavorful Tabasco. Cholula or Sriracha would make this whole adventure at bit more exciting. Maybe. Ambiance is nice. But I really don't want to pay for pretty. I want to pay for tasty, different, unique character etc. Sadly, it's a bit of a sensual bait and switch. But it's not utterly horrible. Average, yes. And that's the irony, isn't it?

Based on the location and the interesting sounding items on their menu, I had hoped for a better experience. I went here with my wife and toddler after a bit of shopping and had fairly tame expectations after reading the reviews. I'll start with the good. The ambiance and the service was good. Our waitress was very friendly and checked back in regularly without hovering. The food came out promptly, but here is where a place that claims not to be average landed squarely in the middle of the bell curve. I started with the "nacho average nachos". The frustrating thing about these was that they had potential. Unfortunately the execution was very poor. All of the melted cheese was cooled and congealed into 2 big clumps across 3 chips. The shredded chicken was clustered mainly on one side of the pile of chips. The tasty corn salsa was lingering under the pile of chips and there was only about 1 tablespoon of guacamole. For my main course I had the special beer marinated clams over linguine. There was nothing wrong with this dish, but it lacked any real creativity or originality in flavor. It was very forgettable. Ok, for the tl;dr - food was boring, but sounded interesting from the description. Place was nice. Service was good. I may try this place again if they start getting better reviews, but I wouldn't go out of my way.

Great place that's not fast food. They start your off with some fresh baked bread that they bake in house, and they serve a delicious olive oil/cheese/red pepper blend. As far as appetizers I love the buffalo wings with the pineapple salsa, nice little twist on a classic appetizer. Food all cooked to order from scratch, they usually have great chef specials. I like the hog heaven sandiwch or the meatloaf. Very clean inside and out, on duty manager usually going around to tables asking how everything is and if you need anything which is very nice. Service is always good, nothing over the top but your not at a five star restaurant, cool and casual, service at the bar can sometimes be spotty. Great place for the family, I take my 6 year old step son and he loves it. Kid friendly, good drinks, great wine and beer selection. Give it a try, I don't think you'll be disappointed.

The Booze is Good. The FOOD was lousy. We ordered sirloin tips and Spinach and garlic mash potatoes. It was over cooked and very salty. I send it back and it came back just as salty. The spinach was re cooked and it was better. The steak was again poorly cooked and still salty. My friends ordered a vegan pizza it was very dried and she never got the vegetables she asked for. The other friend ordered the Salmon and vegetable. The vegetables and the rice was very salty. The manager was informed she said I am very sorry and did nothing for us. Poor customer service. We will not return here. This is nothing more then a bar. The waitress was nice. Don't come here for food.

Nice ambiance. Delicious food. Stellar wait staff with Nick as our personal waiter. Can't beat free focaccia with olive oil/grated cheese dipping sauce (heaven in a bowl). Recommend the pistachio haddock and buffalo mango chicken appetizer. Will definitely be back

Not Your Average Joe's really is not that average, in that it is super above average. I'm pretty jaded as of late (look at my recent reviews) and my boyfriend and I were pretty tuckered out from Record Store Day shopping, but we figured that we'd give this place a shot, hoping that it would be out of the ordinary. They also had outdoor seating, and I really needed some sun on my pale skin. Kayla was an AMAZING server. She brought a smile to my face, and was incredibly personable. After being in the service industry myself for many years, it was refreshing to have a server be attentative and truly do their best to make the dining experience wonderful. She was on spot with recommendations and truly knew how to make us feel at ease. I truly hope management is reading this because you've got a great server in Kayla. She would joke around with my boyfriend and I, and made the night so much more amazing. Bravo. Now, on to the food and drink. My boyfriend ordered the Revival Hefeweizen. Too hoppy for me, but I was expecting that out of a Revival beer. I was glad to see some local favorites on the menu, and impressed that the bar served a 'specialty' (read, many places don't have it) beer. I went with the jungle juice, and it of course came in an adorable mason jar mug and was light and fruity. It didn't have much of an alcoholic 'kick' in it, but it still quenched my thirst and I wouldn't hesitate to order it again. The bread. Oh my gosh, the bread. I try to stay away from gluten, but I just couldn't resist this. It was delicious, warm, fluffy, and all of the things that I should stay away from, but I just couldn't resist. Kayla didn't give any gruff when we asked for more (twice) and actually laughed along with us when we couldn't handle the amazement of the bread. It was served with a Parmesan, red pepper, and garlic aioli that just sweetened the deal. My boyfriend started off with a Waldorf salad which was worth the $6. Fresh crusted walnuts, delicately shredded cheese, and just enough green apple. I was jealous. For the entrees, he enjoyed a pulled pork sandwich with onion straws and I went with the steak tips. I felt the pulled pork was a little mushy, but he loved it, and that's what counts. Usually a restaurant will burn steak tips, but I ordered mine medium, and darn it, they came out medium and delicious. They were tender, juicy, and the marinade was just perfect to sop up with my garlic mashed potatoes. I'm not normally a fan of garlic mashed, but these weren't overly garlicky. Along with the GMP there were some green beans... which were cooked al dente, if you will. Not a soggy bean in sight, as these guys were steamed to have just a little crunch. Delicious. My boyfriend and I were amazed at how a local 'chain' (there are several locations) could blow us away. As others have said, the menu is very eccentric ala Cheesecake Factory, but you will find something you like. The ambiance is great, and I really want to try these folks again during a Bruins playoff game, as the bar was large and inviting. We ended the evening with buying two tickets to catch Divergent down the parking lot at Showcase. 8$ and change for tickets instead of 11.50$?! I'll take it! In all seriousness, dining here is what dining should be, an experience. I am incredibly glad that we decided to check this place out on a random Saturday, and I plan on coming here again in the future. Cheers to Not Your Average Joe's!

NYAJ was a really nice experience for us. I love that they use a lot of local products and that everything is fresh. I think that the quality vs cost is spot on. The wait staff is friendly and willing to go the extra yard. I would recommend trying it at least once.

What a great place and an amazing staff! Some friends and I went to NYAJ in Warwick this past Saturday night and we had such a great time! The food was amazing, but it wasn't the only stand out of the night. Our waiter, Nick P. was one of the best waiters I have ever had! He was attentive, courteous, prompt and extremely friendly. He made some great recommendations for food and drinks and was a large part of why we had such a great night! The Manager James was also fantastic, and we were all impressed by how involved in all the aspects of the restaurant he was. The staff of NYAJ's Warwick should be commended on a job well done and we will definitely be back!

Average Joe's would be a more appropriate name for this place. I don't mean that as an insult in the slightest. With a name like "Not Your Average Joe's" expectations are immediately set pretty high, so get ready to deliver on that! The restaurant is gorgeous. I will absolutely give it that. It is very light and airy, and when the warmer weather beckons it seems as though there will be outside dining options. Granted, these overlook the parking lot...at the Warwick Mall. I guess not really the scenic atmosphere I would personally enjoy, but hey, they tried. Once seated, the servers bring what I'd argue is the best part of the meal: the bread. I have no idea what kind of sorcery was involved in the development and baking of said gluten-y deliciousness, but I'd imagine some deal with a dude named "Lucifer" was made. The menu options are incredibly varied, which made it kind of difficult to figure out what NYAJ's is going for in terms of a "niche". Or maybe they are following the "Cheesecake Factory Model" as I call it, where you offer everything you can think of and hope to please most. Either way, it's not often I find myself debating whether I should get a salad or a pizza or macaroni and cheese. I did end up going with the mac. Interestingly combined with butternut squash among other ingredients, it was surprisingly tasty, but decadent. Plan on sharing this dish! A little suggestion to the owners: if on your beer menu you note "other craft brews available" and that we should "ask our server", please plan on actually having other craft brews. And no, I don't consider Sam Adams as a viable option. Overall, this isn't a bad place at all. And, if nothing else, was a welcomed change from the monotony that has become the Route 2 dining options. I guess I'm just not sold on what is "Not Average" about this place.

I went in here while traveling on business. ....the bartenders were excellent.....they were friendly and knowledgeable of the specials.....which were very good. They also had a nice drink selection....overall very friendly place and a nice stop.....I will be back.

"So sorry about that." It's what we got. The service was not even close to average. 13 people including us dining in, 9 people between hostesses and waiters roaming the floor and bar area. Yet it took 10 minutes to meet the waiter. Outside of that, everything went fine up until our food was left with us. The waiter became invisible for the next near 30 minutes. So I asked a hostess if the waiter gave up on us because we've been waiting for the check. More than five minutes later he shows up, and "So sorry about that. We were having a bartender issue." A what? You mean the waiter I spotted numerous times aimlessly roaming the floor, stopping to chat with his coworkers? Yeah, that guy. The disinterest in paying better attention to the customers was ridiculous and "So sorry about that" is all we got. Oh, and I got a pretty good burger for a meal but... don't do this to yourself, good food and better service should be what every restaurant is about. Here, yeah.... not going back. I don't suppose changing their name to "Piss-Poor Joe's" would not be family friendly but it really is accurate.

I knew they just opened and I live close by, so I decided to check them out. I heard from a friend to make a reservation in advance, and thank god I did. The place was packed! Despite it being so busy, we were waited on very quickly. They start off with bread which is beyond amazing. Also, it just so happened it was 'Winesday Wednesday' so we got two entrees and a bottle of wine for $39. I ordered the balsamic glazed salmon and my date ordered the sirloin tips (which was a hefty 12 oz!) Both served quick and cooked perfectly as requested. Our waitress Anastasia was phenomenal. I don't know if management is checking their yelp reviews, but if so, you need to know what a gem you have in her! So finally: I recommend this restaurant if you're looking for a place to eat above the typical Chilis, Fridays, etc. but don't want to be fancy. You can still wear jeans & a sweatshirt and enjoy good food at decent prices.

Second visit to NYAJ presented another barely 3 star visit. There is really no way I could assign any more points. I'm sorry to have to say that NYAJ is a really average restaurant. I guess perhaps you can't get get much better from a chain restaurant (although I actually have at at least one chain restaurant, but I digress). Second visit, my friend and I started out with Bloody Marys and she also ordered a chicken wrap appetizer (Asian, I think it was). The app was divine, but the drinks were so spicy hot, we ended up sending them back. They were so hot it was impossible to drink them and still try to enjoy ourselves and our lunch. So the waiter happily took them back, and the bartender kindly remixed the two drinks (I'm not sure what he did, possibly tossed out some of the drink and added tomato juice?). For sure the drink did not get made again from scratch, or else I'm pretty certain it wouldn't come back to table still quite spicy - a couple of spice notes down from the first drink, but still not acceptable. I really absolutely hate food/drinks that are seriously hot/spicy. But I do love wasabi on my sushi, pepper flakes on my pizza etc., it's not that I don't do hot at all. I just don't do THAT hot. Our waiter (Mike) could not have been nicer, bending over backwards to accommodate us. So I must say the service the second time here was again excellent. Back to the food. I ordered the gluten free mac and cheese and my friend ordered some sort of sandwich. She said hers was fair to middlin' and my macaroni and cheese was acceptable, but nothing more. I was grateful to be able to get it GF, but there was a lot of butternut squash in it - it was, to be fair, billed this way on the menu -- but I was going for the taste of cheese which was not prevalent. So the mac and cheese was more squash and less cheese and about as bland a dish as I have ever tasted. The pasta was perfectly cooked and tasted just like normal pasta. But the dish just didn't do it for me - just OK. Since this was my second time at NYAJ and once again, my dining experience was just barely average, I will most likely not return unless I plan to be at the mall, meeting a friend for lunch - if this were the case I might consider returning and giving the burger and fries a try.

After my bad review on here, I was contacted by the GM and sent a gift card to try NYAJ again. First of all, that is the best customer service I have ever received. I went back today and it was much better. Our waitress was awesome, kitchen was on time and food came out hot. My only gripe is that the food is still pretty average. Dropped in here the other night, in lieu of food shopping. Visually pleasing to the eye, nice waitstaff. I wasn't especially ravenous, so I was allowed to order smaller meal, which was salmon. My daughter ordered meatloaf, which was so nicely presented. My kid is a foodie but said it was just okay. The lemonade was delicious. But the focaccia bread, with olive oil, red pepper flakes and Parmesan cheese was addicting. I found the fish to taste frozen. You know, there are some foods that should not be eaten away from home. And because I make a mean salmon, I think next time I'll just try something different-- like a liquid dinner. So sorry. It IS just average Joe's.

I'm sorry, but just the bread and oil would be enough to elevate this place to four stars. The food is really good too, although I generally stick with the butternut squash cannelloni. I will say that our server was a little.... Odd?? Just not a friendly people person, and I got a similar vibe from some other servers I saw pass by. I'm also a big fan of the peanut butter thing, YUM!! I would definitely suggest making reservations because they were on a wait just for Saturday afternoon lunch!

I came to this place as a friend recommended it. The best part about the place was the bread and dipping oil that starts the meal! That and 22oz beers never go wrong. I got a salad that was very good, almond crusted goat cheese balls and candied pecans was a great blend of flavors. What I didn't like was the service and atmosphere. It was also pretty expensive for what you get. I got the full sized salad and it was actually kind of small. I may give it another chance.

Service was ok. Ordered two cups of soup $3.99 each. Chicken noodle had no stock, 98% broth, waste of money. I ordered sirloin tips $16.99. Mashed potatoes tasteless, green beans under cooked, tips had a weird chemical taste I think it was suppose to make them taste charcoal broiled? Overwhelming in the rubbery meat, very poor quality tips, terrible. Other person had a burger, fries where over salted, left on the plate. Burger had a weird texture can't explain it maybe filler? Will not return ever. A better name is "Below Average Joe's"!

Great atmosphere, great decor. Pretty quiet on a Sunday night. They had an expansive drink menu but the food was sort of limited. I got the grilled Tuscan chicken on ciabatta and it was probably something I could've made at home. Great service and atmosphere, food was just okay. Bread was yummy though!

My wife and my meal started off well. The server was very pleasant and the bread with olive oil, parmesan, and red pepper flakes mixture for dipping was very tasty, but things went downhill from there. My wife ordered the bacon blue cheese burger medium rare. It came out medium well. She sent it back and it came out cooked right the second time, but it was the most tasteless burger she can recall and the roll was stale. The fries were lame also. So many places are doing great things with their fries to break away from the blahs. Not these, they were just blah. I had the grilled chicken sandwich with mozzarella and tomato. Again stale bread, lukewarm, and pretty tasteless. The mozzarella was a cold slab. I chose the organic greens salad instead of the fries. It was good and the lemon garlic Caesar dressing was tasty.

Just got lunch here for the first time with a friend. Atmosphere-wise the place is really spacious and the bar looks fancy (white backlit lighting behind the shelves). The selection of food was decent, though I'd prefer to see more pasta dishes. I asked for Mac and Cheese but apparently they change their menu seasonally so it's not offered this time of year. I ordered a small pizza topped with mozzarella and ricotta which was quite delicious. I have to say our server Kayla was great. She spotted my friend who apparently had her last time she came, hence she got our table. When my friend's burger came Kayla immediately noticed it was the wrong one and took it back. You could argue that's turning a negative into a positive but the point is she was cool and doesn't suck at her job. All in all I had a great experience. Only thing I'll add is I find it odd the place was empty at 2pm on a Saturday. Plan in advance if you decide to go on a Friday or Saturday night...I've driven by Warwick Mall and the place was packed. I'm a fan of the company in general, having been to one in Central Mass and the one in Seekonk on a number of occasions. This one still has some kinks to work out, but hey, kids, they just opened. It's okay. Service from our waiter was lackluster, and while my food was good, my mom's was pretty icky--fatty and grisly. We let them know (something we don't normally do, but the meal was gross) and they immediately took it off the bill and comped us a dessert. Couldn't ask for more. I think it's a good restaurant in a good location, and I'm sure I'll kick them up a star on the next visit.

I do enjoy supporting local businesses and want to love this local chain. I have much better things to say about the service at the Dartmouth location and the food at the Seekonk location. I do, however, like the industrial warehouse vibe of the Warwick location, and like the appearance of the "kitchen stage" at the rear of the restaurant. Cool to see the bread being cut, and the multitude of plaid clad servers scurrying about. It seems like there is always a wait. I expect it on a Friday or Saturday night but I imagined we could sneak in on a Sunday at 4pm. Not so. The wait was only 15-20 minutes. It goes to show you that this is a market that is in demand in the region. Hearty food, not as manufactured as a worldwide chain. Like I mentioned, I wasn't thrilled with the service. Just seemed to be a huge lag in the time between sitting, ordering drinks, delivering of drinks, ordering food, receiving food, wrapping leftovers, receiving check, and paying check. What's odd is that the server didn't even seem to walk past our table. Maybe his tables aren't in a zone but rather scattered about. It wasn't like there was an opportunity to even grab his attention as he passed nearby. On the topic of food - well, it was OK. Nothing to write home about. I have loved the same dishes at other locations but the food just didn't seem to come together in the same way in Warwick. I've had great chowder, great fish, great lobster rolls elsewhere - food that I rave about. No raving this time. I'm not sure if they are new on the scene and they are still working out the kinks - I'm willing to try again!

My BFF and I ate and drank at Joes Dec 11 the day after opening. The joint was jumping so we sat at the very beautiful bar. We were greeted and served immediately. Our drinks were terrific and Jordan was wonderful. Our entrees were delish,perfect serving size and my jambalaya tasty and perfectly spiced. I have to commend the staff for doing such a professional job in a newly opened restaurant. I am looking forward to returning soon.

My boyfriend and I absolutely love it here!!! Our third time here. He got the scallops and couscous I got the flank steak and quinoa. It was amazing. But honestly no other place can make more amazing sangria. We also loveeee loveeee loveeee the pizza!! Every way made. The squash cannellonis are freeking out of this world. I will be soooo incredibly sad to see them gone for the season. Nick our waiter was great!!! Very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. I would come here every week if I didn't work so much!!

Did a take out order last night. Usually with take out orders, I do expect soggy fries and " this probably would have been excellent if we ate at the restauant". Fries, perfect. Creme Brulee Cheesecake, delish!!! I had as my entree, the Crab Cake BLT. My ONLY complaint, is I would have cooked the bacon a bit more ( a little gummy).. but SO delicious otherwise!! Have been on a few occasions and enjoyed the food every time. Last week had killer risotto and short ribs from the specials menu. Have had some minor issues with service being "spotty" in terms of speed/efficiency and also inconsistent drinks from the bar (1st pitcher of margaritas not strong enough, 2nd pitcher knock ur socks off with tequila) But ya know what, when the place is slammed and everything on the menu is made from scratch I think you have to expect a few minor hiccups. At the end of each meal, I've thoroughly enjoyed my food and felt the service was good. I have pretty high standards for what I eat, most of the time I just cook at home bc I'd rather control the quality and flavor of the ingredients, but NYAJ has lived up to my standards. Will be back here for sure.

I wish we had a chain like this in northwest NJ. Open, high ceiling, warehouse vibe. Friendly staff. Comfortable booth. Large COTTON napkins. Dipping oil with hot peppers and parmesean, the bread looked fabulous - husband said it was. I had aked for a gluten free menu so they offered a gluteen free roll for dipping - and it was very very tasty, topped with carmelized onions. They even brought a separate dipping bowl for the gluten free roll - which was not neccessary for me but would be wonderful for those who are severly allergic. The gluten free menu was, alas, not vegan friendly, but there were some lovely choices on the regular menu that met all my crazy dietary restrictions. I had vegetarian spring rolls from the appetizer menu - 2 huge rolls - a lunch size porttion - fresh tasting with asparagus, carrots, cucumber, basil and rice noodles and a fabulous peanut dipping sauce. I had a side of warm quinoa with almonds, cranberries and green onions that was delicious. Hubby had a house made veggie burger wth organic greens as the side which he reported as being very good - it looked fabulous. Service was very good - water glasses - with lemon - never went below half full. If you are in New England, I highly recommend stopping here, especially if you are looking for interesting, tasty, vegetarian or gluten-free options.

my girlfriend and I went there last night and it was a total disappointment. we sat at the bar and saw the server blow her nose and then start handling glasses without washing her hands first. our server spent most of her time hanging out at the opposite end of the bar talking to the server down there. we both ordered hamburgers because we were told they were very good but we were both disappointed as the flavor was boring and the buns fell apart in our hands. our server never asked why we both sent our plates back unfinished. the name not your average joe's is correct because it was a below average Joe. we won't be returning.

My boyfriend decided he would, very lovingly, treat me to a nice birthday dinner at Not Your Average Joe's (my birthday is May 10th, but this was last year). Not Your Average Joe's had just recently opened and he had been bugging to try it, no wonder he offered to take me! I was very excited for my first experience here and even dressed up for the occasion. Once we arrived, having made our reservation earlier in the night, we were not-so-surprised to see the place packed. Now, there's nothing wrong with a busy eatery whatsoever, it's just not really my gig. Can't fault the restaurant for being popular! Anyway, we went inside and spoke with the hostess who was less-than nice. She wasn't rude, just...average, heh. After we sat down, we were greeted by our waiter who was very nice. He gave us our menus, took our drink orders, and left us to decide on what we wanted. Since, as I said before, it was my first time ever here, it took my boyfriend and I a bit to look over the menu and decide on what we wanted. Finally, we did. The waiter came back over and we explained to him what we would be having. I only wanted the French Onion Soup, because it's one of my favorite dishes. My boyfriend ordered a cheeseburger or some sort (can't remember exactly what) and we were going to get a pizza to split. Having said our order, the waiter responds with, "Wow, that's a lot of food!" Now, I'm sure it was meant as a harmless attempt at humor, but I was upset by that comment. Call me over-emotional, I don't care. It was uncalled for. Once our food did come out, we tried it, and it was very good. I enjoyed my soup, and from what I know, my boyfriend enjoyed his meal as well. When we were ready to go, our waiter brought over our check. The meal was about $50 in total, and my boyfriend paid with a $100 bill. When the waiter opened the check up and saw the $100 he said, "Oh my! That's so generous!" Again, I'm sure it was a harmless joke, but really? Not after that comment earlier. My boyfriend, needless to say, was not happy with that one. We ended up paying for our meal and leaving a nice tip (certainly not $50 nice) and walked out. Overall, the experience was mediocre at best. I would give it another shot someday, but it left a bad taste in my mouth.

To die for! Stopped in on a whim, slight wait but as our waitress assured us, the bread and oil would be worth the wait--she was right! so worth it. Mom and I shared a pitcher of Sangria, the butternut squash flatbread (YUM!) Spring roll, French onion soup, and for an entree mom had the ahi tuna salad and I had the goat cheese salad, both very good! I adore the decor, and our waitress was pretty awesome, wish I remembered her name (short blonde). Can't wait to return with my hubby so he can try the pizza.

As always, we love to try a new restaurant and were pleasantly surprised at the service and selection at NYAJ.Our waitress, Jessica, was well-informed, pleasant, and helpful in explaining menu items. My husband went for the gold with the Steak Frites which he deemed as good although the haystack fries were like the little dry canned .potato sticks. I was pleased with a very different turkey burger that incorporated feta, cheese, spinach, a touch of nutmeg and cinnamon. The Mediterranean salad that accompanied the burger was an excellent chopped version with cucumbers, tomatoes, greens, and Kalamata olives. And then, the piece de resistance, the "Peanut Butter Thing," was a dessert consisting of peanut butter, chocolate chunks within vanilla ice cream and covered with Oreo cookie crumbs - and the best part, it was generously drizzled with hot chocolate and caramel sauces right before our eyes. It was a large portion and easily shared, although we did have a brief war with our forks trying to get as much as possible!!!

Been here twice. First time was the first week it opened and then most recently. The first week there was a 1 1/2 hour wait but we made a reservation online. The first time, all employees had plaid on and I thought it was a nice touch. As others have mentioned, the BREAD & DIPPING OIL is oh so good! I tried making it at home (check their website for recipe) but it didn't come out the same. If you get a seat facing the kitchen, you can see the girl cutting the bread lol. The tables are way too small for 2 people. With drinks, silverware and the bread, there is no room for the food! Drinks are good, priced like any other place. The food seemed to be different the second time. It was mediocre. The huge fire-pit outside is a nice touch too. +1 for allowing reservations +1 for the bread and dipping oil -1 for small parking lot -1 small tables

We have only eaten here once. It was very crowded on a Friday, with lots of people waiting up to 45 minutes to get in. We had made a reservation and we were seated promptly. This place is very popular, likely because it is new and also because RI is "starved" for restaurants in this market segment. The decor is nice, new, clean, comfortable and airy with an open kitchen and a huge bar. The server was very attentive and quick. She was almost too attentive, but I chalk this up to inexperience and great desire to please. Not a complaint, just a comment. The bread is delicious. Their bread dip is great. It looks and tastes like Parmesan mixed with oil and red pepper flakes. Yummy! The NE style clam chowder was excellent, which is saying a lot because the bar is high for quality clam chowder her in Quahog, USA. The Caesar salads are great, one of the best in this dining segment in RI. And I have tried them all. The bread triangles they serve with them are tasty, too. We were less impressed with the entrees. The meatloaf was fair only. It was under seasoned and barely warm. The "gravy" is pretty ordinary BBQ sauce. The mashed potatoes were barely warm but tasty.The fried onion strips were at room temperature. The chicken piccata was only fair. They use a cream based sauce, which even with lemon and capers is not a common way to do it. Unfortunately the cream, which adds fat, didn't really justify the overall blandness of the dish.It was also barely warm. My daughter had chicken strips with fries which were just ordinary. Barely warm and dry. They were just below average for this dining segment (and yes, we have tried them all). I'll try appetizers, pizza, and burgers in the future. Those are a big part of the menu.Unimpressed with their entrees we tried. I'm sure they will earn 4 or more stars as they gain experience at this site.I'll re-post in the future.

Hmmmmm.................the word that comes to mid is CHAOS. I met my dinner companion at 5:30. Upon entering the doorway was very crowded. We maneuvered over to the bar where there were no seats due to a Holiday party standing occupying half of the bar space. You get it--chaos..However when we were seated our server Mathew was fun and informative -- all the while training a new server. Our food was good..I had the Crab Cake BLT and my companion had the Jumbolia. Both good...the creme boule cheesecake was YUMMY. So I guess I will chalk this one up to "just opening" Return??--maybe

Decor is okay, not my ideal taste. What some call "airy," I say reminds me of a cafeteria. It is big and open without privacy. As for the food, the bread and dip is great. Very basic. Not Something I Couldn't Make at Home. I really don't mean to sound negative, I just expected something less simple. The food was ok. I ordered the crab cake BLT. I wish I had ordered something a bit more mainstream to properly be able to judge this place. In any case, it was fine. But I wouldn't get it again. I will try this NYAJs again before making a definitive decision about the place. Maybe for a burger because from what I've seen, I'm not paying them $22 for scallops. I'll go to Spain or Legal Seafood for that. My biggest disappointment came from my drink. I had seen a specialty drink on the online menu and tried to order that, The server told me they couldn't make it because as a new restaurant they weren't doing specials....really? You don't have the ability to tell the bartender what's in a drink and have them make it? Lame, and a huge turn-off to their customer service.

I know they just recently opened so I'm going to take that into consideration while rating them. First, we arrived at 11:40-- we quickly realized that they don't serve until noon. That was a bummer since I had my impatient 4-year-old with me. They did end up sitting us down at 11:50 (that was a plus!). It was very clean and bright in the dinning areas. I liked that you could see the kitchen while you sat, which was also very clean and bright. The waitress was very nice and took our order quickly and efficiently. The food came out at all the right temperatures and our whole table was happy to eat. We even took a survey at the end of the meal (asked upon us by our waitress) with a mini apple device glued to a cutting board. The only "weird" moments I would say we had was; the place was over staffed so we constantly made eye contact with ALL the servers. The trimming to our booth was crooked, which was weird since they had just opened. Other then those minor things-- we enjoyed ourselves! :)

Place is nice enough and the staff is friendly. However, the food is below average. BBQ sauce on pork pretzels was too sweet and too slathered on. I had a basic hamburger, medium-well. Burnt and dry. Waiter saw me scraping the charred burnt meat off and didn't say anything. I didn't bother mentioning it since I didn't want another and had no plans of returning. Also, a bit forward/rude to bring the iPhone to your table to take the survey at the end of the meal. So "Not Your Average Joe's" is accurate - it's way, way below average. Best to avoid.

My husband and I dined at Not Your Average Joe's for the 3rd time tonight. I always try to give a new place a few chances before I write it off, especially one that has just recently opened. Unfortunately, after tonight I do not think I will be back at this restaurant...at least not for a meal (possibly at the bar for drinks). The first time we came here it was late afternoon after a movie at the nearby cinema. We sat right down, no wait. The interior of the restaurant is very cool. Love the ambiance/decor. Their bread/dipping sauce is to die for. Hard to believe something so simple can be so delicious! We had an appetizer and soups/salads. The veggie spring roll was crunchy instead of soft. Not very good. The tomato soup and french onion soup were good. Side salads were very good too, and reasonably priced. ($5 for a pretty big salad). We tried to come here 1 or 2 times after the first experience, but it was very crowded with a long wait. The next time we came for dinner on a Tuesday night, but the next day forecasted a snow storm. We got there right before the dinner rush. I ordered an apple cider type drink which was AWESOME! My husband ordered the bacon and egg appetizer, which he enjoyed. Dinner for me was a pistachio-crusted haddock on the "specials" menu. It sounded delicious on the menu, but was very bland,and not worth the price tag. My husband ordered the short ribs...same story. Sounded awesome, but didn't live up to the hype. Today we went back, giving it one last shot after a shopping trip at the mall. This time for just drinks and appetizers. Again, drinks lived up to the expectations, but the food did not. Bacon and egg appetizer, and the dumplings were both good (according to the husband), but the butternut squash flatbread was gross. It came out cold, and it was extremely greasy. Each time we came to Not Your Average Joe's the waitstaff was very nice, but not extremely attentive. Food took a long time to come out of the kitchen...especially on the occasions when the restaurant was not even crowded. Bottom line, we might come back to the bar for drinks (and maybe some of the delicious bread and dipping sauce), but for food, Not Your Average Joe's has struck out in our book.

I've always heard bad stories about this place but on Mother's Day my mom chose the Warwick location to get dinner. Lets just say my experience wasn't average at all but instead extremely below average. First I ordered the Pork sandwich with no cold slaw and no onion rings and a side of mac & cheese. What do I get when my meal comes out? I get everything I asked NOT to get so I tell the waiter and they go to fix it. When the sandwich comes back and its fixed I look down at it and my sister points out to me that there is blue mold growing on the bun. Yes MOLD. That is absolutely disgusting and not acceptable whatsoever. Bread is dated and labeled and never should be used past the expiration date EVER. The fact that the chef plated this sandwich and even let it leave the kitchen without seeing the mold is repulsive. To top this all off our waiter was terrible. When my sister ordered Salmon he asked her how she wanted it cooked...theres no such thing as that. My sister worked at a seafood restaurant over 3 years and never heard of that ever. He never brought us silverware...we had to ask another waitress for silverware. He didn't ask us if we wanted to box up our meals instead he just gave us the bill and walked away. He never asked us how we liked our food after we finally received our meals or if we'd like anything else either. And when we ordered drinks it took over 10 minutes to get them even though the restaurant was empty. And now I know why it was empty.... My mom has always been a regular at this restaurant and loves this place but after tonight we refuse to ever go again...unprofessional and clearly you cant trust how old the food is that you're eating. Please read this and be careful of what you're eating and check it twice before you get food poisoning!

This was out first visit to NYAJ last night, and it was excellent. We had a 6PM reservation and had to wait about 10 minutes to get our table (we were a bit early). The people in the waiting, including us, were served slices of white pizza (tasty) while they were waiting. We were seated in a booth and brought foccacia bread with flavored dipping oil by our server Cassie who was very friendly and knowledgeable. She told us to watch out for the bread because it could be addicting. She was right, but we held ourselves at one basket to save room for dinner. We ordered drinks and the coconut shrimp appetizer (excellent) while we decided what we wanted to eat. My teenage son ordered a Margherita pizza, while my teenage daughter ordered chicken fingers and (hand cut) fries. Both liked their meal and had no issues. I ordered the Not So Average Meatloaf, which consisted of (2) meatloaves stuffed with mozzarella between two mashed potato "buns" with fried onions on top. It was very good! My husband had the Chicken Enchiladas (recommended by our server). He said they were good and filling, but not as flavorful as he had hoped they would be. We skipped dessert and coffee because we were stuffed! Overall it was a good dining experience and we will be back again!

Have gone twice. Once for a business lunch. It was very good and service was very nice. I took my wife back for dinner based on the lunch experience. Not as good. The bread and oil/cheese was excellent. Too bad the waiter wanted to take it away when our dinner was served. We wouldn't let him. My wife had the mac and cheese. Not good at all. Not much cheese and the macaroni was crazy overcooked. Everything was just mushy. I had the caesar salad with salmon. It was okay. Very dry as there was not much caesar dressing in it. The salmon was good. And again, the waiter had a fetish about our bread as my wife was eating it and dipping it into the oil, the waiter actually grabbed the oil dish and started taking it away while asking if we were all done with it? Obviously we weren't. But were then as we didn't want to dip anymore after his thumb was on the dish and in the oil. Would go back for lunch, never again for dinner.

I don't typically write reviews but our experience here was so bad that I couldn't, not share it. My hopes is that it might better their business. My husband and I love trying new places so we stopped in tonight to check it out. It was pretty busy so we expected delays. I can say that the food and drinks were pretty good but the service was AWFUL and that just ruins everything. Couple spots opened up at the bar so we decided to take them. We sat down and waited almost 10 minutes before anyone even noticed us, when they finally did it was almost as if we were an inconvenience, not the best feel. We had to continue to flag the bartenders down for each thing throughout our meal.... to order an appetizer, then once we received it we had to flag them down to get plates and silverware, then flag them down again to order an entrÃ©e, you get the idea. I wouldn't go out of my way to complain about it but listening to bartenders complain the whole time about what was going on, while we're flagging them down to order things does get a little old. WHAT REALLY FORCED ME TO WRITE THIS REVEIW was after watching one of the bartenders accidentally shatter a glass in the ice bin and see the other bartender continue to serve drinks out of it. The manager was standing right there when the glass shattered so he knew it happened!! The bartender who broke the glass did the right thing put some red juice in the ice and set up a secondary ice bin but the other bartender failed to notice. Once I realized that drinks were being served out of there I alerted the hostess, since the bartenders didn't pay much attention to us. Not sure how many more drinks went out, potentially with shards of glass. Needless to say I will not be back, which is a shame because the food was good. Best of luck Average Joes, hopefully you can get your service staff a little more organized.

I went with a bunch if friends and had a good time the place looks great the table the six of us sat at had a lot of room. We made reservations online and our table was ready and waiting for us. Which is good because the place was packed with people. The waitress was fabulous. My only complaint is the dough of my pizza was soggy. For pizza that is cooked at such a high temp I would think it would be crisp

Well...after a day of shopping we decided to stop in for a drink. We have been waiting for you guys to open!! It was 4:30. Too early to eat, but a drink and maybe an appetizer was in order. So, we walked in to the bar and it is full. The Patriot's game was on:) We went to the hostess station and asked it we could sit at a table in the bar area for a drink. We were told "those tables are ours" so NO. End of conversation. It was 4:30! There was no one in the dining room! We were not going to take anyone's table! Does anyone here watch Willy Deagle on Food Network? You do NOT turn away a customer!! Especially at a time when there is no one in the place! Servers were hanging and waiting for a table! So, we left. Not Your Average Joe's lost our money tonight and maybe our business ever again:( Bad business in my opinion. So, what did we do? We went someplace close by and ended up eating and having a few drinks and spent $61.00 before tip. Not Your Average Joe's (and server's) loss....While I understand there are rules....rules can and should be broken and this was one of those times. Will we come back and try again?? I can't say.....we did try....

This is not a complaint about actual service, I didn't get that far. We went in, we saw a wait, understandable since we came during the dinner rush. We put our names down, we were told a 20 minute wait maximum. 20 minutes pass on and nothing, but people ahead of us were moving to seats so that seemed like a good sign. They had the courtesy of passing out some snack, which was nice, but was extremely salty and a bit stale which left me yearning to sit at a table to order some water. 30 minutes, nothing. At that point all the people who were ahead of us were gone and there we were waiting still and new people were waiting around us. I began noticing these people were starting to get seated, which I shrugged off initially as people with reservations. Afterwards some people I knew for certain didn't have reservations, (I was seated waiting right next to the check in desk so I could overhear and I know what they tell people who have reservations vs. don't), but checked in after myself and my boyfriend, a table of two, were seated I started getting annoyed. Both me and my boyfriend were listening attentively to if his name were to be said, and nothing. I could hear the conversations between the hostesses, that's how attentive I was. At about the 45 minute mark we decided to just leave. Maybe it was because they saw we were a couple of nineteen year olds, maybe it was because I didn't decide to sport anything Gucci or Louis Vuitton. Maybe if we knew a waitress we'd have gotten in soon as I saw happen for an older pair. Whatever the scenario, whatever went on, if you're younger, if you're not dressed to the nines in expensive garments or if you don't know someone, don't come in here expecting to be treated fairly. I work as a waitress myself, and I find it hard to believe you don't notice some people who have been right in front of you for quite some time. All I know is you certainly don't put ahead the "preferable" customers in front of other clientele. A customer is a customer and from my own personal waitressing experience you never know who will be nice, young or old, those who are wearing the latest styles to those sporting sweats. You earn what you get with service, which I didn't make it to get to sadly. I'd have loved to make a waiter's or waitress's day letting them know I left happy thanks to them. It was really upsetting and I've never felt quite so disrespected but whatever, stay away.

I went to NYAJ w my husband, a friend and our daughters for lunch. The ambiance was nice and I was really looking forward to the freshly made food. The bread and olive oil was delicious. My husband ordered the nachos for an app and they were not what we expected. The portion was very small for a hefty price. My friend and my husband both had burgers. My husband with onion straws which were not hot at all. They both said the burgers were ok yet lacked flavor. I ordered the mustard crusted chicken. Although it tasted very fresh it really did lack flavor. I could not taste any mustard. I used my daughters bbq sauce to add a little kick. My daughter and her friend enjoyed the chicken fingers! The hand cut fries were also delicious. Overall it was a nice restaurant with great service but the food flavor was average. A little over priced for my taste.

I love NYAJ and have been going to them for years, mostly the ones in MA. This one did not disappoint. The bread and oil is to die for, per usual. I got a Parmesan crusted chicken salad and it was delicious. I went with my old standby of their key lime pie that comes with a raspberry sauce and whipped cream, as usual it's sooo good! This location had a really nice outdoor seating area.

Not as good as the one on Burlington Mass. I've been here a couple of times, and the friendliness that we always get from the staff at Burlington is really missing at this one. It's unfortunate - The Burlington location is a couple of hours away from where we live so we only get there once or twice a year, and this one is 15 minutes from my job. However, the service (or lack of) makes me inclined to go elsewhere. The food is excellent and creative. I can't say enough good things about it. I had the Tuna wontons and the chicken ump links his week, and both were outstanding.

For month's my wife and I talked about going. I was very hesitant as most chains are just not that good and overpriced. Should have gone earlier! The food was good, the service fantastic, and it was clean and well organized. The focaccia with cheese and oil to start was delicious. We had an appetizer - chicken tenders with a mango salsa that was pretty good. My wife and I shared a bbq chicken pizza that was one of the best I have ever had. The pizza crust had a little bit of seasoning and a focaccia texture. Also had some hand cut fries which were really good. Solid 4 1/2 stars, we will be back!

It's about what you expect. It is trying to be a high end business crowd type restaurant. The problem is your in the Warwick mall. It's just not a high end, fancy place. The food was good, however overpriced. It was enjoyable but just another expensive place taking themselves too serious in an area that's already overrun with uninspired franchise restaurateurs catering to the masses. If it was a bit better priced I probably would recommend it.

How have I not written a review for Not Your Average Joe's yet?? I knew I was a fan ever since having lunch at their Seekonk location about two years ago. And now, with a Warwick location, the deal has been sealed. My father and I both work in the same area (Warwick and East Greenwich, respectfully) and will get together for lunch once a month or so. Neither of us having a passion for Panera or the like, Not Your Average Joe's is a godsend. Perfect central location with great lunch options, even better prices, and usually really awesome service. After a few successful lunches, I have been back for some of their great weeknight specials on the way home from the office. On Mondays, their buck-a-shuck and $6 martinis can't be beat! I find that this "chain" does its best to be that only in consistency which I appreciate.

I want to start this off by saying that I'm usually obsessed with the NYAJ restaurants. Growing up in the Worcester area, I frequented NYAJ in Westborough several times a month. When I moved to Providence and saw a NYAJ in this area I was thrilled. Unfortunately, this location has not lived up to my expectations. To start off, this restaurant is extremely busy. Not that this is a bad thing by any means, but there is minimal seating area so you end up on top of other parties waiting to be seated. My most recent experience we arrived and put our name in. We were quoted 15 minutes. Now we know that this is a rough estimate of time, it's a little frustrating when the hostesses are letting their friends and family in first. While we were waiting a young girl and her mother arrived. One hostess came running (yes, I meant running) over to congratulate her friend on some gymnastic-type event. Her mother asked how long the wait is to which the hostess replied, "we can seat you next." Rolling our eyes, we stood and watched this happen with one of the waitresses family members as well. After coming straight from a long shift at a hospital, I just wanted to get some food in me. By the time our 45+ minute wait was up, I was so hangry that my boyfriend was afraid to speak to me. We ordered drinks and I got a specialty cocktail. My cocktail was a martini glass filled with crushed ice (like a slushy) and the actual beverage. Curious how much liquid was in my drink, I strained by cocktail into an empty water glass. It had to be less than 4 ounces. Seems like a grossly overpriced cocktail for such a small amount. Our waitress came over, finding the whole debacle amusing, and commented how the drink was delicious but one of their "smaller beverages." We laughed and I asked for more water since I wouldn't be ordering another overpriced cocktail. Now onto the nightmare that was me entree. My pork dish, which I ordered medium-well was so rare in the center it still had red juices coming from it. The meat was cool to touch as if it had barely been seared.I sat and waited for over 10 minutes to see any waitress. I showed her the meat and asked for it to be cooked a little more. She gasped when looking at my meat an took it right away. My meal came out after my boyfriend had almost finished his dinner. My meat was charred and dry. The rest of the side dishes were cold. I ate some of my dinner and asked for our check. I wish I could say this was unusual for this NYAJ location, but it's not. Every time we have come to NYAJ we've had to send at least one item back to either be cooked more or made correctly. While I keep giving NYAJ more chances, probably because of my fondness for their other locations, I feel somewhat silly continuing to go back after writing a review. I think this last trip to NYAJ will be our final trip since we spend too much money on meals we never end up eating.

We came here for lorie's bday dinner. I have never been a fan of the menu which I have never done. The only good thing about this place is bread and olive oil, I'll eat that stuff all day. This place never gets busy to later on in the night when people are getting out of the movies or heading home. They have a deal with the movie theater buy your tickets and return with a 15% off your check.

Went here last night with my sister for some drinks. We decided to grab some dinner too because why not? it was already 6pm and we were shopping all afternoon. So we order the watermelon sangria and strawberry basil margarita. The drinks were amazing. So for dinner I order the "not your average meatloaf' and my sister grab the honey mustard crust chicken. The entrees were very blah. Not something I would be like "OMG I HAVE TO GO BACK AND GET".

One of my favorite dinner places... I don't know if its their fresh bread and garlic oil.or the bottomless lime rickeys (amazing!!!). They have a wide array of dinner choices from salmon to chicken to pizza and meatloaf. Definitely must try the maple brussel sprouts!! The ambiance is quaint with cathedral ceilings and wood work. If you go in the warmer months.. You can sit outside near their fire place. Its definitely worth a try if you haven't been!!

I came here last night with my friend before we went to the movies. We love going out and trying new spots. I had come here once and thought it was decent and this was her first time. Turns out, it was pretty....average, or below average. We ordered sangrias for drinks and they were ok. Kind of tasted like overly sweet bottled juice, but didn't expect much. Onto the meals. I ordered buffalo chicken pizza with scallions and ranch. The sauce was so sweet I couldn't tell what it was, tasted too much like barbecue. My friend ordered the california roll which was supposed to be smoky whipped-feta, avocado, pea-sprouts, cucumber, tomato and arugula on a toasted multi-grain roll. When it came out it was simply a tomato, pickles, and sprouts on a roll. They skipped half of the ingredients. We were so excited to come here and had looked over the menu before coming, but not sure we will run back here.

I am no longer a fan of this chain. It pains me to say this because in the past we would drive pretty far because their food was that good. We would go to Watertown, Acton or Dartmouth and our meals were always consistently flavourful. I was very excited a few years ago when the Seekonk location opened but was very disappointed with the changes to the menu. When the Warwick location opened we had no intention of trying it again, until a friend chose it for her birthday celebration. We reluctantly gave Joe's another chance and unfortunately were let down again. The service was good, our dissatisfaction is based solely on the food. The husband and I chose to split an appetizer and a pizza and everyone else chose individual entrees. We had the caribbean buffalo chicken strips which used to be amazing, they were just OK. We chose the Santa Fe pizza which from the description sounded good and full of bold flavors, but in reality was very bland. It really didn't taste like anything except dough and a hint of corn. I can't speak for the others in our party but no one was raving about their meals either. I find that their prices are way too steep for the quality of food they now serve. I've had no problem in the past paying $15 for their grilled meatloaf because it was the best damn meatloaf I ever had! But for 2 beers, an appetizer, and a pizza it cost us over $60, we could have gotten much better food elsewhere for less. With so many other options in the RI dining scene we won't be wasting anymore time or money at this establishment. What happened to you Not Your Average Joe's? You used to be cool.

Very neat place has many choices on the menu as well as many choices of good draft beers also has plenty of big-screen TVs to watch any sporting that you want very nice dining room. Staff is very friendly and knowledgeable also willing to change channels to whatever sporting event you want to watch.

On Wednesdays, my Husband & I have our "Lunch Date" since we both have the day off and our Kids are in School. We almost always find ourselves here. We actually feel guilty when we "cheat" on them occasionally (It's only occasionally, I promise)! We love the layout of the Restaurant, and the Seating is very comfortable. I always steal the side facing towards the Kitchen because I love to watch the action. They have someone checking the Plates before they're served so that everything is perfect. We have never (ever!) had a Server that was unfriendly or inattentive, and that is so rare to find in Restaurants. Management is also wonderful--they take the time to say Hello and ask how everything was. The fresh Bread and Dip are heavenly. We even ordered some to take home with us once. It's very addictive, so pace yourself (or not, I'm not the boss of you.) My Husband always orders a Soda, but I have my Weekly Cocktail. Be sure to try the many different types of Sangria, also "Berry Me in Bubbles" is wonderful. He is far more adventurous than I (He rolls his eyes when I order the same thing) and will try anything and everything on the menu (at least twice). I can recommend two things---1) The Meatloaf! You'll fall in love with it. 2) The Mustard Crusted Chicken, it's served with delicious Mashed Potatoes and the best fresh Green Beans. Honestly, all of the Dishes are so pretty that you'll want to take Pictures--and I do! See you Wednesday!

I'll be honest to say I didn't have high expectations for this chain restaurant next to a mall, but I was pleasantly surprised. The waitress was fantastic, had a great sense of humor and was very accommodating to my gluten free friend. Drinks were very good and prices were reasonable. The nachos are definitely not your average so if you are expecting traditional nachos overflowing with chips and topping, this is NOT for you. There were a handful of chips layered neatly on top of each other with individual toppings. My friends had the chicken lettuce wraps and really enjoyed those. I had the chicken enchiladas and for not being a Mexican restaurant, I was very pleased with my dish. I like the fact that they make everything to order and everything is fresh. It makes a difference in the taste and quality of food. This is a great place for a group and reasonably priced, good food.

A surprisingly good restaurant especially given that it is a chain and located on the grounds of the Warwick Mall. The menu included a wide variety of items to please those with simple or more wide-ranging tastes and the kids menu ACTUALLY INCLUDED VEGETABLE AND FRUIT options. The food was all well-prepared and very tasty and our waiter, Jared, was friendly and accommodating. We will likely be back for dinner and a movie again soon.

Went for a late lunch on a Tuesday. My berry mojito was great but my daughter's margarita was disgustingly salty. Still can't figure out how the bartender could've made it that bad. Waitress changed it out to a captain and coke, can't screw that up. Anyways, must of been a corporate visit day because the staff seemed a little skittish and off game. (Saw a bunch of corporate type people) The service was just a little slow and I never should have to ask for a refill of water in my glass. The title, the menu and the presentation of everything they serve makes this place look like a very unique chain restaurant. Sadly, I have to report, Joe's is kind of average. The drinks were overpriced for the size, and weren't really anything special. The cocktail menu had lovely descriptions but they didn't deliver. I had the maple bourbon manhattan and it wasn't really maple-y at all. It didn't seem like anything was mixed in and it really just tasted like bourbon on the rocks. The bread though, fantastic! The stuff is really hard to stop eating. Our table went through three baskets. It's a soft, doughy bread with a hard crust, and you're provided with a really delicious olive oil dip with cheeses and herbs. Most of the apps were good, but some were hard to eat. When I ordered the pretzel bites, I was expecting a soft pretzel "bread," not a cracker-like thing. It was too big for one bite but I couldn't cut it into 2. The presentation was great and the toppings worked great together... I just wish they all fit in my mouth at the same time. The steak tostada was easier to eat, but kind of bland. For my entree I ordered the harvest mac n' cheese, because it sounded fantastic. Unfortunately, it was extremely bland and hardly cheesy. I was pretty disappointed for what I got with a $15 price tag. I might come back, but would probably stick to beers and burgers... OH and the bread too!

Joe, you remind me of *CrAzY~* vanilla ice cream, lure us in with your promises of something different and beautiful exteriors then bam! First bite, oh, right.... It's vanilla. So the bread, I like the spruced up dipping sauce (evoo, Parmesan, red pepper flakes) but as someone born and braised on proper Italian bread, this just wasn't my thing. Had some to have the alioi, but that was the end of that. The menu is like Cheesecake Factory type of schizophrenic, any cuisine you may want (save for Ethiopian and possibly polish) there is probably a representation for it. Had the apps been a bit more reasonable in price I think my mom and I would have gone about splitting a couple of those which looked so much better coming to the table around us then the entrees. I got the feta turkey burger, and when it came out about 40 minutes later... It was pink. First bite, practically raw. Frantic my mom made some random server take it away. Our waitress and the manager both came over like I was blowing something out of proportion. I'm sorry, poultry must be cooked thoroughly and I'm traveling for work this week so I cannot risk food borne illness. Another burger that was thinner and cooked all the way through was sheepishly brought out by a line cook who they then made apologize for the first burger. Not a huge deal, I just wanted it cooked properly. I loved the Mediterranean salad that came with the burger, make that a full size option on the menu! The fully cooked burger was kind of lacking in flavor, some oregano or other Greek inspired spices could have remedied that. My mom got the tomato mozzarella and chicken sandwich. She liked it but said the standout of her meal happened to be the fries (which as I snuck a few waiting for my new burger- yum yum kids, super crispy and brown, no batter/coating and sea salt) The restaurant itself is absolutely gorgeous, as we sat outside the whole time my mom and I kept exchanging "it's such a shame this is behind the Warwick mall". Also, while the sewage treatment plant is still technically defunct after the flooding of 2010, when the wind turns a certain way the unmistakeable scent will waft over, so keep that in mind on hot days.

I booked a table for 9 and was promptly seated within minutes of arriving. The waitress was quick to greet us and kept our drinks full throughout dinner. There was quite a variety of food available which was perfect for such a large group. My children even found the kid's menu to be good. I think the prices were on the higher end of the $$ rating, but didn't go broke paying for dinner.

We have been coming here since they opened. I don't know what happened, tonight the food was terrible. I had the baked haddock, it was so salty it was almost inedible. I was very disappointed but we were in a hurry to get to a movie so I didn't make a stink about it. I understand if it was packed in brine which has salt but to add more salt to the breading was just too much. I doubt we will be back. Sorry.

I loved this place. I can't wait to go back with my fiance and try something off of the Gluten Free Menu. If you're there during the holiday season, make sure to try the Gingerbread Martini. Also if you're a fan of spicy soups, I highly suggest the chipolte sweet potato soup.

This is the second Not your Average Joes I've visited in last few months. Each Joe's seems to have the same type of food menu but what is different is the way each location is setup. From the kitchen in this one which can be seen in back of the dining area where you can actually see meals being pre-pared by their chefs I like seeing/knowing what's happening to my food, gives a comforting feeling. Last Friday when we arrived day before Valentine's Day( we made reservations online 2hrs ahead of schedule which was awesome, 1 because there was a 45min wait but we got right in with reservations and 2 making reservations online instead of calling was so easy, definitely recommended. We ordered the Gorgonzola pizza which I've never had there. Anddddddd it was good! Came with a purple type of thin cabbage on top of the yummy cheese with a balsamic drizzle of dressing. Not over powering. I've had many styles of pizza so I will say it's a thin New York type dough pizza with is cooked just right with a crisp. Also get their nachos you won't regret it. We also had a baked fish diner which was yummy. Love their mash potatoes. All in all the service was great, waitress I think was Christina was awesome super funny!

Not Your Average Joe's is a neat little burger/sandwich joint type place centrally located next to Warwick Mall. It's a quick easy bite to eat, with a nice selection on their menu, including some local brews. I had a burger grilled to perfection with a tasty gluten-free caramelized onion bun. By far the most unique and flavorful GF bread choice of any restaurant chain I've ever visited. Overall, the service was fast, friendly, and welcoming. The place was really busy, especially for a random weeknight. The waitress offered us a $5 discount voucher for our next visit since we were first time customers, but then she forgot to give it to us - it's the thought that counts? Overall, an average experience (oh, the irony) at a local restaurant for a quick bite to eat.

Rarely do I give the coveted 5 star review, especially for a chain restaurant. In fact, I went back twice before composing this, just to be sure that the first visit wasn't a fluke. I even brought some "Joe's virgins" with me to get their takes. Final vote? Simply awesome. On my first visit, a lunch hour, I had the veggie spring rolls and the Not Your Average house salad. Both were made with incredibly fresh ingredients and didn't leave me feeling guilty for eating out (again). My husband had the steak tostada and he was nothing short of impressed - which is a miracle since he is meticulous about restaurant food. The second visit was a family dinner. I loved the spring rolls so much that I got them again, but this time I also ordered the ahi tuna wantons (which can be served on cucumber slices instead of wantons to up the healthy factor). Both dishes were super yummy, just as expected. My husband got the steak fries and was once again 100% satisfied with the quality. My parents ordered the pork tenderloin and the haddock, and both said they would recommend their dishes to others. Additionally, the drink menu is extensive, the service is friendly, ALL of the food is made from scratch, and the atmosphere is modern but still cozy. Nothing but awesomeness at this joint - which is really not the average. Go! Now! PS: Half-price apps weekdays from 3pm-6pm, and DOLLAR OYSTERS ON MONDAYS!

BELOW AVERAGE JOES The name says it all. Not average...it's BELOW AVERAGE JOES. Such bland tasting food. I got the meatloaf at the recommendation if the server. It was so plain. On top of that I asked if the meatloaf was all beef because I don't eat pork because it's against my religion. He told me it was all beef and confirmed it with the chef. I ate it. The next day as I looked at the left overs I was skeptical about it being all beef. I called the restaurant to ask. The man on the phone told me the meatloaf was beef, veal and pork. So either the waiter and whoever ever he asked has no idea what kind of meat they put in their own food, or the waiter was lying or he just didn't care.

Balsamic Salmon with "Roasted Potatoes". I expected a better presentation being as though the restaurant is so elegant But as they saying goes, "don't judge a book by its cover". Vegetables: well non existent. Salmon: is chargrilled and cooked very well. Besides that my waitress is very warm, friendly and attentive.

We had 2 mains, the Chicken enchiladas which were fantastic and a chicken with a butternut squash cannoli. Bother were really, really good. The cannoli was on someone else's plate but I did have a taste. It was one of those things that was so good, I am not sure I would have liked to have eaten the whole thing. I know that sounds a bit odd but I think it was because it as so rich with flavor that had I had too much, it would have been, well...too much. The service was pretty good. I did have to ask twice to get my beer. I would like to give the excuse that it was really busy, which it was, but I think still not really a good excuse. The only problem I had with the who deal was that there were two lines for tax at the bottom of the bill. I asked what that was for. The manager came over and told me it was the alcohol tax. I informed them that RI does not have a tax on alcohol any more. Stopped in Dec 2013. She told me I was obvious mistaken, politely. A couple taps on the smart phone, and boom, no state tax on alcohol. So makes me wonder what they are doing with all of that money.

I recently dined here this weekend on Saturday night. My wife and I were in town for a wedding staying across the street at the NYLO hotel. The hotel recommended them even though their reviews on numerous sites said otherwise.. I SHOULD HAVE STAYED AWAY! And SO should YOU! Lets start off with the good... The interior of the restaurant is very wide open, beautiful and classy. The kitchen is wide open, also very beautiful. Its a plus to be able to see every kitchen worker cooking your food. We had a good seat as we were sat very close to the kitchen and pizza oven! They let you take a walk by and see the Servers cutting the fresh baked bread. It's rather intriguing! Unfortunately, this is all the good I have to say about this place. Our server was Nick P. Started off really friendly and personable! Then we had to ask for the Bread that everyone was raving about, yet every other table was started off that way? After we asked, we still had to wait until our meals came and the food runner had to bring it to us.. Annoying, yes? It gets better. Our server decides to show us a "Magic trick with cards" and Promoted where he also works at a club called the Callosium? I came to dinner with my wife to be together and enjoy the time we had together, away from our kids, away from our hectic life. Instead, we got a very annoying server showing us card tricks, once he was done with us, he moved on to the next table. We had to listen to him show the same tricks to the tables around us multiple times. ANNOYING. When we weren't listening to magic tricks, we got to listen to a blonde curly haired waitress complain and moan about how "This isnt happy hour people, get the 'f*ck' up! You've been sitting here long enough!!!!!" I dont think i need to explain about why this bothered us.... BUT DONT WORRY, It gets better. The kitchen staff also decided to join in on the bickering. Apparently a guest found plastic in her salad, so of course the Salad worker and the same Blonde had to fight about whose fault it was. I guess being so close to the kitchen wasn't so great after all! We waited to speak to a manager for over 10 minutes but finally gave up, paid our bill, just left. THIS PLACE IS UNBELIEVABLY RIDICULOUS! BEWARE!!!!!!!!!

Pretty good food with a very modern take on American fare. Imagine a Chili's or Applebee's upscale modernized with an updated menu; now as you know part of that is really good part of that is not so good. The ingredients do not taste that fresh and the food is prepared extremely fast. The nachos are good the chicken tenders are incredible, even the harvest mac & cheese was surprisingly tasty.

2nd day living in Rhode island and literally stumbled upon this place, only to find out we came on GRAND OPENING NIGHT! We were instantly greeted by two young ladies at the hostess counter and taken to a cozy booth seated off centered to the open kitchen. We were quickly greeted by our waiter, Nick. He was a cool, energetic guy who knew the menu very well. Nick came with this homenade bread and some dipping concoction that i was unfamiliar with but he poured olive oil on top and stirred it up. After tasting that, i felt like i was in for a treat. We decided to get the buffalo chicken strips for an appetizer. They were probably the best chicken strips i have tasted in a while. They were not greasy, full of breading or covered in franks red hot. Lol the chicken was very moist and it came with a little side of mango salsa. check out the pic i posted for quanity. Our entree's were: Smokehouse jumbalaya, mediterranean turkey kabob, and hamburger kids meal for the little homie, JJ. The jumbalaya is what i ordered. All fresh ingredients. If you dont like spicy, you could handle this. It has a smokey taste from the sausage and a lot of new orleans flavor. A very hearty meal for the cold weather. I would get it again. Im not going to critique everyone elses meal since i only had 1 bite. My wife ordered the crÃ©me brÃ»lÃ©e cheesecake. She says it is the reason for the 5 stars. Lol. Overall, this is a great place to stop in after shopping at Warwick Mall. I just might wear my flannel shirt when i return. Lol.

Stopped here for a cocktail after an afternoon of shopping at the mall. Usually not a fan of chain restaurants but decided to try this place instead of the usual Fat Bellys. The decor is actually very nice and they have a neat little fire pit outside the entrance. They have a decent wine list and was able to get a good bottle of red for $35. Try their chicken tender appetizer with fresh pineapple and red onion. I was rather impressed with the quality of food and will certainly come back when I I am not looking for a hefty lunch bill. The service was very good and the bartenders were quite friendly and attentive. Definitely not a bad spot if you're in the Warwick area.

Family and I stopped by Not Your Average Joe's in Warwick. We have one locally, and hadn't been back since our first visit shortly after they opened. We were quite happy to have tried it again. The food was all good and our server Tabitha, was great - very friendly and attentive. We mentioned we were trying to get to a movie and she told us right away about the deal they have on movie tickets - a bargain. In addition, when she overheard us talking about our son being at West Point, she added the military discount, without us even asking. The good was good, but the service was really special.

I am so done with this place. I have been here twice now and both times it was Below Average Joes. The service is mediocre at best, the food small and nothing special, both times I had food not come as I ordered it and it is way overpriced for what it is. This place is on the same level as all the other garbage chains, don't be fooled.

I really, really wanted to like this one...but sorry no. I guess the only NYAJ's around here worth going to is the one in Dartmouth. So let me tell you about my visit. I went with my boyfriend and we both ordered a burger. He got a bacon burger and I got the sweet bacon blue or whatever it's called. They basically turned the California bacon blue pizza--which is not on their menu--into a burger. The waitress was very nice...but that didn't save this restaurant from a bad review. BOTH our burgers were very under-cooked. We asked for medium well. His burger was a little bit pink on the inside, but edible. Mine however was very pink all the way through and I just couldn't eat it. I sent it back and they ended up not charging me for the meal. They replaced it, but the replacement burger was RAW!!! It was literally seared on the outside and raw and GOOEY in the middle!!! I had her box it and I will end up COOKING it at home. Sad that I have to take my food home to COOK it. Sorry but 3 undercooked burgers is a problem for me. I'll stick with Dartmouth thanks.

Friendly staff, nice ambiance (kind of modern industrial). Average menu price is $11-$12. I thought it was slightly pricey when I saw the menu, but you get what you pay for here. It's all fresh food. The pre-meal bread is baked fresh daily and the dipping sauce is dangerously good. I had the chicken enchiladas and they were perfect. From the rice, to the sauce, it seemed that attention to detail wasn't lost on any portion of the meal. The presentation of the food was classy and overall I was impressed. 20 beers on tap with a large bar area too. The waitress told me it is a locally owned restaurant and the owner has several other stores in the area. I'll definitely be back.

Eh... after quite a bit of hype, I finally stopped by Not Your Average Joe's for some appetizers and drinks with a friend. We tried the Buffalo-Caribbean chicken tenders, which were actually pretty good, and a nice, slightly sweet twist on Buffalo chicken. We also tried the chicken quesadilla which was seriously nothing special. I'm not sure how you can make a quesadilla quite that forgettable, but that's really what it was. Neither of us where jumping at the chance to finish it off. We didn't delve too far into the menu, but based on our experience so far, I'd say it's Not Your Average Joe's because it's actually BELOW average, not the other way around. Even though half our order was pretty tasty, it was nothing that blew us away. I'd head to Fat Belly's next door instead of Joe's in the future.

I finally got to try Not Your Average Joe's last month for my birthday dinner. They have a really great email club that send coupons so I was able to get my birthday dinner on the house (so sign up!!!) I am still thinking about the Ahi Tuna Salad that I had that night. It was light and flavorful, perfectly portioned. I also tried their strawberry rhubarb sangria which felt like summer in a glass come early. The dink was not overly strong though, so if you are looking for a kick maybe go in a different direction. I will be back soon for sure.

Below Average Joe's would be a better name. My sons burger came out so soggy it seemed like it was dunked in a glass of water. The waitress thought I would like my pizza on my lap and dropped our pizza on me and my son. The SanGria was weak expensive juice. Skip it!

Tried this place out because it was new and had a gift card. Pros: -Great service -Well made drinks -Everything is "made in house" (not your typical chain restaurant out of the free.zero cooking) Cons: -Pricey -Overcrowded parking lot -The dish I ordered felt like something I could have, and probably have made myself. Very simplistic for the price.

For dinner tonight I ordered lamb slider from the appetizer menu. Made me feel sick and bloated all night -after 2 hours of struggling I finally threw up and I felt awful. Now this is the first time in my life that I vomit from anything!! I feel horrible. Be ware!!!

Absolutely one of the best dinning experiences I have ever had. The food was amazing and well prepared. The service was timely and well maintained. The manager and waitress was such a pleasure and very helpful. I most definitely recommend this place for a nice meal with the family or even a quick drink and a app with a friend.

We had lunch here on a Sunday afternoon. It was pretty busy so we had to wait to be seated. We sat down to wait in the area between the 2 doors at the entrance (not sure what you call that space). That was a mistake. Just don't do it. There is an ear piercing sound when the doors open that prompted us to walk back into the front of the restaurant and stand awkwardly with the other people waiting for a table. They bring out this delicious bread with an cheesey, garlicy, peppery oil that is amazingly good. The waitress warned us that it is addictive and she was right. If there is a next time I'll just ask that they not bring it to the table which is easier than trying to stop myself from consuming the entire basket. Anyway, the food was fine. My turkey burger was good and the salad that comes along side was nice. My husband enjoyed his salad with steak tips. The service was very friendly if a little slow. The gal that brought out the food forgot to bring the dressing to we had to wait awhile for our server to get it out to us. I'm looking forward to trying some additional things on the menu but I'll wait til it's not so busy.

While the Food and Drink was good, Service - well as you will see - Watch your credit card Statements! I travel a lot for work, so I dine alone, and I am the dreaded "table for one" although I do say "its just me" having said that, knowing this place was popular - I made a reservation via Open table When I got there although the place had plenty of empty tables, I got the question every single Diner hates "Do you want sit at the bar?" - Do you think I would have made a reservation if I wanted to sit at the bar? - anyway I can't fault them too much for this, they are by no means the only place that does this, but it doesn't set the right tone. Food and Drink were very good, I cannot complain on that and everything was indeed freshly prepared, however the service was a little slow, especially when it came to taking my order and refilling my ice tea, but not horrible. So when I came to settle my check, I tipped 15%. Clearly the waitress felt that was not enough, as I got my Credit card statement, and she decided to 'upgrade' the tip to 23%. I am filing a dispute with my credit card company, I will admit its small amount we are talking about but its the principle, the whole thing has left a bad taste in my mouth You can serve the best food in the world, but it means nothing if the service is not only not there, but clearly the staff have a better opinion of how they are doing then you do. Not only will I not return, I will be sure to check with my co-workers who had also dined here to check their statements as well. UPDATE 5-1-2014 - To their Credit - The General Manager - Michelle - did follow up with me very quickly in regards to the review and my being overcharged on the Tip - they did a full investigation and came back with their findings - I think the politest thing I can say is we will have to "agree to disagree" on what they discovered. Again the food is very good, and they did offer to take care of the difference on what I was charged.

It's like NYAJ knew I was bound to move back to Rhode Island and opened this location just in time. (During my time living in Watertown, MA I would frequent both the Watertown and Burlington, MA locations.) This is really one of the only chain restaurants I allow myself to frequent. I love that each location has it's own personality in setup and decor, but the staff is friendly and courteous and the food is delicious no matter which location you choose to frequent. Upon arrival you are served their (made in house) rosemary focaccia bread with an olive oil, Parmesan cheese, crushed red pepper mixture that is incredible. Trust me, you'll find it hard to stop yourself and save room for your actual meal. The Chicken Mona Lisa salad is to die for. (I'm not one to order the same thing on multiple visits if I haven't tried everything on the menu first, but I break my own rule when it comes to this salad.) I can honestly say I've tried most of their menu offerings, and the only item I would not recommend is the meatloaf. I've been on a huge spicy watermelon margarita kick this summer and theirs does not disappoint. Try it and thank me later! For dessert, I highly recommend their peanut butter thing. (Yes, that's actually what it's called.) But let's be honest, you really can't go wrong with ice cream, Oreo, peanut butter, caramel and hot fudge. And last but not least, if you take just one thing away from this review have it be to sign up for their email club! There are currently two versions of their birthday coupon (1) which allows you to get a free entree AND dessert and (2) $15 off (which still covers the cost of most of their entrees). However, if you are lucky enough to score the free entree and dessert coupon they will remove the birthday girl/boys selection, not the cheapest meal on the bill.
