I am new in town and have been here 3 times! I love to sit at the counter. My coffee cup keeps getting filled and so do I! This is what eating in America is all about. I have enjoyed each of my breakfasts here, the hustle and bustle and the sense of family in the place and the food has been great each time!

I have never been there for breakfast but have had lunch there many times. The cheeseburgers are excellent and will be cooked to order on request. By the third time there they remembered me. Very friendly.

Been to the diner on numerous occasions while visiting the area. It's like stepping back in time. The atmosphere is very laid back and there is always somebody interesting sitting right next to you if you are at the counter. They work behind that counter like a well oiled machine. Always a floor show of characters for sure. Food is great and inexpensive. Very diversified clientele as well. I'll continue to go back every time I am in town.

This is the real deal. Well-seasoned grill, padded chrome stools, short order maestra wielding the spatula, charming waitstaff. Great prices, bottomless coffee; we were even awarded a complimentary round of the excellent cornbread. I may someday get up and drive 100 miles just for the blueberry pancakes.

So my turn to pile on. Bathrooms are inside They do accept Credit Cards (unless the sign on the door is incorrect) Now, on the the important stuff. I think Jefferson Diner is a great local place serving the community. They keep their prices reasonable and their regulars happy. They are very friendly and talkative, which I love. The food is okay diner food. Most of the stuff is more of a packaged fare and maybe not the highest quality stuff. E.g. their hot wieners were not Sauges or Kenyms, but probably Bar-S. But they do not make their bones on hot wieners. Their eggs are in a shell, the cheeses is grated from a block, their coffee is from a pot. I have never had issues with the breakfast quality. This is not the best diner in RI, by a long shot, but that in and of itself does not make it bad. What it makes it is a solid neighborhood diner. If you are on Jefferson Blvd, it is a good place to get Breakfast and lunch. Besides, I have not really found a place that is close to this area that is better unless you want a pay a high-end price.

Rhode Island to me has always been a trip through a time warp, and sure enough, this place is like many I had known growing up in Philly in the 60s. A few counter stools, a few booths and a small tube TV. The dull green sign and the small building are easy to miss from the congested highway. We went for breakfast on Friday, July 17, 2014. My wife ordered poached eggs on cornbread with home fries. My mushroom and cheese omelet came with the spicy home fries and rye toast I requested. Coffee was non-toxic. Our meal was $20, including tip. The two servers were attentive. The sign on the outside boasts "Since 1969!" Probably has not been remodeled since then. The food is OK -- filling, but not great. Would I go back? Yes, but this is definitely second (or third) choice.

Had breakfast with the family here recently. The four of us waited for a few minutes for a table, and soon a booth was free and the waitress sat us. Waitress, do me the service please of at least cleaning the table once we've been sitting there. I don't like sitting at a table with spilled stuff from the people before, while you attend to a number of other things for 5 minutes before getting back to me with a soggy towel to wipe up the table. Not cool. OK, so I can move past this - let's order breakfast and see how the food is. Standard diner breakfast menu, eggs, bacon, toast, the usual stuff. We order - pancakes, eggs, bacon, homefries, etc. Coffee is poor, although you can drink gallons of it if you like. The food arrives, everything is as ordered which is to their credit. Unfortunately none of it besides the eggs were very good. Thin, low-quality bacon, bad pancakes that were heavy and tough, greasy soggy homefries, you get the picture. There are a number of much better diners in the area. Sorry Jefferson, but I won't be coming back.

This place is one of my favorites. The decor is not fancy, the food is not fancy. It's exactly what it's supposed to be and perfect. They give you 4 pieces of bacon where others give 2 or 3. More bacon = happy. Plus it's crisp and meaty. Win.

This place is cozy, family-style, and so small that we passed by it. It doesn't serve anything fancy, but enough to satisfy you stomach and you taste buds. Ordered chocolate pancakes and eggs over easy with sausage. It was a delight to watch her cook in front of you, because you can tell the food is not gonna disappoint you. Eggs were done perfectly, the home fries are so exceptional that my bf kept stealing from me. I can tell the chocolate pancakes are also good, because he ate it all. If I ever visit again, I would definitely try the scrambled eggs, because they look so perfect when she cooks it. Server is very friendly and this place just warm up your stomach in a heartbeat. I would visit again if I come back to Rhode Island.

Classic, comfort breakfast... Tiny place. I was happy to not have to wait outside. Had traditional breakfast with eggs meat and homefries. Was similar to what I recall from going out with my dad on Saturday mornings as a kid. Quality consistent, style never changed. Not a bad thing!

Great breakfast here. Blueberry cornbread was awesome! I ordered the corned beef hash which comes with some peppers in it which I love. Home fries were cooked through and nicely seasoned. Good coffee as well. Eggs were cooked perfectly. Overall a very clean family run operation that deserves your business.

It is the first diner that I have visited in Rhode Island. It's perfect. Small, cozy, and friendly. The meal I had was delicious. Poached eggs on grilled corn bread with home fries. The coffee beats any diner coffee that o ever had in Maine. It was actually a very good cup of coffee. I'll be back for more at the Jefferson Diner.

Worst place ever!!! Waited 10 minutes just for them to acknowledge us! Like seriously?! They were too busy at the other end of the restaurant talking. Sorry to interrupt you ladies! It's now been 23 minutes to makes 2 omelets with toast and home fries...and still waiting. But I'm glad the guy that came in 15 minutes after us got his food already. I guess you have to wear a suit to get attention. This is the worst place ever. I 100% will not be back!!!

Very disappointing. We read the reviews from other people and stopped since we were nearby. The restaurant is very small, only 6 booths and a counter, and it's very cramped. Every time the person behind us moved, it would sway the back of the seat. We ordered right away and waited a half hour for our breakfast, which was just eggs and toast and a breakfast sandwich with home fries. The home fries didn't make it to the table and the breakfast sandwich was not very good, it was soaked in grease to the point the English muffin was soggy on one side and hard on the other. The eggs and toast were pretty good, we will give them that. We would have said 2 star food but the fact that they were keeping trays of cooked food under the grill near the floor was very unappetizing. Nobody came for the check, we finally went up to the counter to pay. Definitely not going back, all in all it took an hour for what was supposed to be a quick breakfast and it wasn't up to the other reviews.

Went here this morning with my wife and a couple of friends. Food was good, prices were reasonable, but the waitress was a little cranky. A different waitress came around refilling coffees and she was very pleasant. I like to give everyone the benefit of the doubt so we chalked it up to maybe she was having a bad day. All in all, I would definitely go back.

FABULOUS!!!!! Oh my goodness I truly felt like we just went home to Mom's! The food was PERFECT!! The vegetable omelet was the BEST I have ever eaten and was only $6.95!!! It came with the most delicious and irresistible home fried potatoes! A side of toast was your choice so of course raisin bread was the choice! My husband had the 3 HUGE blueberry pancakes with REAL blueberries. So what a treat to have not only fantastic food but the most wonderful service. The waitress was amazing and even though packed she made you feel like you were important. The cook was funny, smiled all the time and was a master!! They both put love into everything they did! You guys that live near are BLESSED to be able to go often. I wish we could take Jefferson Diner and staff home to St Louis! If we ever travel near here again we will always come back!!! You rock!!!!

I have been here three times so far everything I have had is good. The corn beef hash is by far the best I have had. A small place with about 6 booths and bar seating for 20 or so. The staff is very friendly with the many locals that come in daily. I'll be back.

Really people?! A packed Diner on a weekday morning can't be all that bad! An interesting observation is that the demographics of the people that filled this place on a weekday morning resemble the demographics at a hospital's geriatric ward and therefore.....no Yelp reviews from the real regulars. So.....mostly likely you will never here their opinions on here because they don't do Yelp or go on the internet or anything that us young folk do to spread the word about this place. Got the #8 "Too good to be true" poached eggs on cornbread breakfast special. Wow O wow! Another awesome spin on the Eggs Benedict. There was no hollandaise sauce and the corn bread was sweet and a bit crispy. You also got a good helping of the home fries, and I decided that I wanted a side of ham. It was absolutely delicious! Service was a bit slow, but I was definitely there during their peak and could tell they were moving as fast as they can cook up the food. they have more customers than they do capacity to serve them, so if you are in a hurry, not a good choice during peak hours. This is a take your time and sip your coffee type of a place. So I got there about 1000 and it was packed....I had to sit on the counter. By 1130, the lunch crowd started pouring in and once again it was packed....which leads me to think that lunch is pretty damn good too. This is definitely a local favorite. Everyone seems to know everyone and they were very friendly.

This place is awesome. My husband and I looked on yelp to find a good breakfast in the area (we live in Texas and were driving through to the Cape) and found this diner. So amazingly happy we did. We were so happy we chose to eat here and have compared every other breakfast since then to the meal we had there.

Breakfast. Done with a small amount of flavor led with a lot of 'Tude. Lets get the important things out first. First Bathroom outside and locked up Cash only 8 tables and counter seating Onto the food. Me: eggs (ordered over medium served over easy), bacon (expected crispy served fried so much that it was tasteless), home fries (can't go wrong here right? Wrong it can be squares of tasteless smooshies colored reddish, which for a split second thought was some type of seasoning...once again wrong), french toast (expected crisp on the outside and soft on the inside, served just all mushy and isn't there supposed to be cinnamon on it??} & the surprise was the white toast that I had no idea I was getting...especially when I would have so enjoyed rye instead (thanks for not giving me a choice) I won't even bother to describe what hubby had because to him if it isn't hairy or moldy (tho sometimes he has eatin moldy stuff) he will just eat whatever is.put in front of him. All in all totally MEH and only worth 2.5 stars (but yelp hasn't caught on to that yet)

Great breakfast! Friendly chatty service! Autographed Tom Brady photo! An all around ideal New England neighborhood diner experience. The blueberry pancakes are my kids' favorite, and their special cornbread is always a treat (keep your eyes open for jalapeño, or blueberry cornbread specials). They make their own hash, and brew fresh coffee. If you're in the neighborhood, you must stop by to say hello.

Cheap classic American health food. Butter cooked in butter served with eggs.

This diner is a Sundays favorite for my boyfriend and I. Very quaint and the service is super fast. There are booths and a breakfast bar which you can sit at. Menu is basic toast, bacon, eggs, omelets etc. coffee is good also!

What a Great little place to have breakfast, not very big in size but, big on flavor food was made to order and fresh. Would definitely recommend for nice peaceful breakfast. Staff was very friendly and I felt like I have known them forever. Will definitely be back!

Jefferson Diner the best in food and service in RI. Can't beat it. Love the 60's decor.
