Their food is really good and the delivery is fast as well. I usually call them when I am at work and famished. I have no complaints at all.

Good Mexican in Rhode Island you ask? The servings are gigantic, not expensive, the food is delicious, and the "surf shop" motif makes it seem as if they should have wall-to-wall beach sand on the floor to match. For north of the border, this is a well crafted gem.

Delicious, convenient, locally owned, great ambiance. The food is creative and fresh (check out the specials board, its always changing), the people are friendly, and the decor is colorful and bright. The Ranchero burrito is where it's at. Plus, on Tuesdays, the taco's are half price!

El Fuego is the mexican place to stop by in Wakefield! They use fresh ingredients and make everything to order. Order and pick up at the counter makes a casual atmosphere. Very good food and often a destination with family and friends!

Probably the best Mexican food in Southern Rhode Island, every time I come in. A beef quesadilla and a daily special / fish taco will fill me up. It's extremely tasty and it's just a 10 minute drive from URI. Cheap and Cheerful !

I agree with some of the other reviews. It has a solid menu and some of the stuff is actually really good. If you want to grab something for lunch with a friend it's not a bad choice. However, it is not really "Mexican". There is still no good mexican places in Wakefield/Narragansett. Someone get on that please!!!

Love the potential here, and the food is really, really good. So we'll start with that, then we'll move on to the other stuff: Solid chicken nachos with a damn good quesadilla. Chicken quality was decent too. What's unique? The taco challenge -- eat five blazing hot tacos within 45 minutes. Sounds easy enough, so I'll definitely have to try that the next time I'm back. And also, a plethora of hot sauces to top your Mexi-cravings with. That right there is enough to bring me back, let alone the more-than-reasonable prices clearly marked above the grill. But guys, please, invest in a bathroom! There's a bathroom down the hall of the building to use, which is totally fine, but it was one of the most frightening places I've been in awhile. There's no way it had been cleaned in three or four days. I'll spare you the gory details, but after working at a supermarket for several years as a kid, I think it's fair to say I've seen my fair share of disasters, and this one was up there. Still, this won't deter me from coming back, and if you're just looking for some good eats, El Fuego boasts 4+ star Mexican food, consistent with it's "Best of South County" tag.

My go to place for take out. The food is always fresh and the portions are large. I'd suggest calling ahead for take out since sometimes there can be a wait.

Pure unadulterated awesomeness. Recently I was in Wakefield at lunchtime and thought at little authentic cuisine might be a nice change of pace from the usual salad. I was correct. I had a really really really good burrito: The Ranchero: Chicken, Cheddar & Jack Cheese, Mexican Rice, Black Beans, Ranch Dressing, BBQ Sauce $7.50. Large. Fresh. Tasty. Boo-freaking-yah! Picked up a Taco Salad: Lettuce, Tomatoes, Rice, Beans, Corn Chips, Home Made Salsa, Cheddar and Jack Cheese, Sour Cream and Guacamole $6.25 (Added Chicken for a total price of $7.25). Do yourself a favor and give it a try - definitely a casual lunch kind of place. Not a realy sit down dinner spot and it is BYOB. But for lunch, hell yeah. EL Fuego, I shall return.

Best place in Narragansett to get a burrito or a taco. Place always seems to be consistent in the kitchen. Personal favorite is the El Fuego Winnebago. Each order comes with a side of chips and salsa (that are both great). Also nice that it's BYOB.

Food was not very good. much better places in providence. Got a steak burrito and a chicken taco. chips and salsa with guacamole. salsa was very sweet and not fresh. guac was ok. i asked for tap water and it took ten minutes to fill a pitcher with water with no other customers there. atmosphere is nice for a casual place. im wondering why right at 11am when it opens there are dirty tables with pulled out chairs seemingly from the night before. there is a taco bell right down the street. i left wishing i had went there.

I wasnt impressed with El Fuego. We were looking for a great Mexican place and what we got was sub par. The food was just ok, nothing special, and certainly not spicy enough for my taste! The chips and salsa were tasty but I dont think I will be back...

In love with the buffalo burrito. The owner, Mike, is always so nice, as is his staff. The prices are amazing and food comes out quickly. Everything I've ever eaten at El Fuego has been delicious. I'm totally addicted!

So good. I came here at least 3 times a week before moving to California and it was my first stop upon returning to Wakefield. Still just as good as I remember, the perfect place for a quick delicious lunch.

The food here is very good. Especially if you like Chipotle, because this place feels like a clone. The menu is more expansive than Chipotle at least - more meat and veggie options, more predefined combinations that are tasty. Also, this is an independent shop, which also gives it an edge over the ubiquitous burrito joint. However, unfortunately, i found my burrito somewhat bland. Maybe I should have slathered it in hot sauce, but as it came, it was tasty, but the flavors were too muted for what I expect Mexican food to be. Additionally, the service was really slow. Does it really take that long to make a burrito? Despite my 3-star review, I would definitely suggest giving this place a try. If you like Chipotle, then giving this local restaurant a shot makes sense. You may have better luck than I have.

The perfect spot for a fresh and tasty burrito! Completely kid friendly and on a summer's night you can sit outside or on the nearby wall and eat before grabbing and ice cream at Brickley's. I wish they had a better drink selection, but since I'm there for the burrito and usually in the summer, I usually bring my own. Overal, a yummy experience that I highly recommend!!

Love this place! Taco Tuesdays represent the best value in town for tasty, fresh and inexpensive kid chow! Adults will love the burritos and hot sauces! Can't get enough of the salsa! No kidding -- more salsa please for the chips!

This place is....meh. The location is good, right on Main St, and we enjoyed sitting next to the big window and people watching. The food is affordable and it's a laid back atmosphere. I also like the fact that it's BYOB, which is a great money saver. But...and that's a big but...the food is not good. It was extremely bland and tasted like they didn't use seasoning at all. I had to keep adding salt and hot sauce to my burrito to give it SOME sort of flavor. I love Mexican food but this place was a disappointment. I won't be going back.

Very good fast casual dining. El Fuego has an excellent atmosphere, in an interesting building on lovely Main St., Wakefield. Old radiators hang high on the walls above a creaky wood floor and fun decor. The small restaurant was busy but not overly so on this winter evening, with a mixture of patrons including students and locals, mostly on the younger side. The employees were friendly and helpful, and the menu varied and creative, though not particularly authentic if you're looking for traditional Mexican food. I was disappointed that they were out of "boom boom" that evening, and had a variety of fish tacos instead. They were just OK, truthfully, though my wife liked her tacos more. The prices were reasonable, and tasty chips come with the meals. We liked the variety of hot sauces, and we (especially my wife) liked the dining experience overall I'll give it four instead of five stars only because I wasn't crazy about the fish tacos and thought the ingredients could be more varied (and I think Chipotle has fresher and tastier food). Excellent local restaurant well worth the trip.

I love Mexican food. This place is terrible. The soggy over-cooked veggies... the rancid chips... the soggy tortillas... the slow service... I live close to the place so I've tried it 3 times, each time hoping it would be better. The food is consistent though. Consistently horrible.

I just got delivery from here and was appalled. So here is my lil' story. It's mostly about the delivery boy and him being a jerk to me. He ain't even one of the cute employees someone else mentioned in an earlier review, so there I don't even forgive him a little bit. We ordered a burrito, chips & guac, and an extra side of guac. It came. Took about 30 minutes. It was only $10, which I thought was really weirdly cheap considering how much guacamole we ordered. I also left the delivery guy a $3 tip.. Which I guess he thought was HORRIBLE because he then responded with "I'll never do this again" and stormed out the door. After I stood there completely shocked for a minute, I opened our bag of delivery, with absolutely NO guacamole in it, anywhere. So basically disappointment after disappointment. a) Delivery boy, if you're having such a bad day, don't take it out on me. I gave you a 30% tip. In all of my years as a waitress, bar tender, and yeah, for awhile I delivered food too, I never have complained of a tip. WHERE YOU DELIVERED IS A HALF MILE, LEGITIMATELY, DOWN THE STREET FROM WHERE YOUR JOB IS. $3 is NOT that bad, DICK. (Google maps says here to el fuego is .5 miles, or 43 seconds driving, or a 9 minute walk. Dude, your time is not that precious. I know you're not at the going rate of $10/minute, and if you are, maybe you should delivery my food faster so I actually think you're of any quality.) b) You were specifically told by your boss to tell us there was no guacamole. Why did I have to call and ask your boss about this to find this out? You don't tell me my order is messed up and then I tip you well anyway THEN YOU ARE MEAN?! WTF! c) Why couldn't anyone tell me there was no guac earlier??? My friend did NOT want chips & salsa. She wanted GUACAMOLE. Chips & GUACAMOLE. How is serving us salsa (and charging us for it) acceptable, when we didn't order, nor want that? Honestly, we probably wouldn't have ordered at all if we knew there was guacamole, because all she wanted was guacamole. What kind of Mexican place runs out of guac? So ridiculous. Lesson learned: Order something else, like Kabuki. I know you're not in the mood for Japanese, but good dear, I will be avoiding this place. UPDATE: Also super crappy... Owner threw a tantrum over this review. Nothing I said within this review was a lie, fabrication, or incorrect. THE OWNER ACTED LIKE A 2 YEAR OLD. NO THANKS.

One word: Winnebago. The food is great here. Very fresh and flavorful. I love the burritos. The decor is a little bland, but I don't go there for the scenery. It can take a while for the food to be made, so I recommend calling in advance. Every time I've called ahead and ordered 4 winnebagos, I still end up waiting at least 20 min for them to finish the order. Doesn't bother me, but it may irk some. They also deliver, which is helpful because it will get very hectic around lunch time. Parking is a bit of a pain on Main Street.

El Fuego is a nice little hole in the wall Mexican place. They have tacos, burritos, enchiladas, and some other items. We decided to visit after calling to make sure they had vegetarian options, which they do. It turns out there are 2 locations, one in Narragansett, the other Wakefield. We went to Narragansett. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We had one vegetarian and one lactose intolerant person in our group. The guy taking the order made sure the lactose intolerant person knew what other dairy products were in the burrito when she asked for no cheese. He knew all of the ingredients and was also happy to go 'light on the tomatoes' for another in our group. I got the 3 veggie tacos with beans, cheese, lettuce, and tomatoes. The beans were very good, a mix of black and pinto that were spiced just right to make them very delicious. Everybody else got chicken burritos and they were very happy with them. The all liked that the burrito was lightly grilled. The chips and salsa that came with the meals were good too. The place is very small, there's 5 or 6 tables that seat 2-4 people. There's no wait staff, but the guy that took the order at the counter brought our food over to us when it was ready. It's a very casual atmosphere. We all agreed that the food was good and we'd go again.

I had high hopes for El Fuego (especially since they deliver!!). I had dreams of fresh outta this world mexican, making use of fresh produce. Sadly, with the exception of the good looking employee's, its left me disappointed. For the most part they really do only offer typical fast food style "mexican" food that lacks in real flavors. I hate to say it, but you could honestly go to Taco Bell down the road for much cheaper and it would probably be just as good and you can totally make much better at home. Is it too much to ask for fresh guacomole???!! (that kills me!!) Its a shame because I think they could have done something special with this place..

I thought this food was going to be good but it turned out to be crap. I would much rather go to taco bell then here. It is over priced for just a simple taco lacking flavor. I have also heard that he has been fined several times for having old food, and still serving it.

The food was good here. It seemed like it could just use a little more flavor, but it was still good. The environment was pretty cool though. The walls are painted crazy colors and there were interesting decorations all over. The restaurant is located in an old building which adds its own character. I recommend it

El Fuego is one of the best priced restaurants in the Narragansett beaches area. We consistantly feed our family of 4 for under $40. The staff is friendly, the food is great, and they'll accomidate special requests.

Now down to 1 location on Main Street in Wakefield, I am still in love with the fact they will deliver to my work place in Narragansett. My new favorite on the menu is the Buffalo Chicken Burrito! mmmmmmmmmmm, heaven in my mouth! I have been telling my sister about this place for about a YEAR now, she just went this passed Tuesday ( for Taco Tuesday ) and is now hooked as well. Even her husband. who is not a real big fan of Mexican loves it too!!!! :) El Fuego makes me smile, might have to make a pit stop sometime this week..........

When I first walked in, I was wondering if we had made a good choice. I had heard that it was a BYOB restaurant, but its more of a take out place. There are some seats inside, but the decor and furnishings are very minimalistic. There is a bathroom way down the hall, you just need to ask one of the employees for the key. I'm still laughing about a previous reviewer's comments about "good looking employees" The guys working there look like they got kicked off the hempfest tour bus. The fish taco i got was decent, but I would've preferred if the fish is fried. The salsa was fresh and flavorful and the taco shell was good. I got a pork taco with a purple slaw which was spicy and excellent. We also got some nachos with steak. The nachos were tasty, but the steak on top was completely flavorless, no cumin, no pepper, no salt nothing. That being said, with a six pack of Pacifico's from the liquor store down the street and a couple tacos, how can you go wrong?

Thank god there's finally a place to get decent (not creative, not out-of-this world -- but solid, flavorful, and fresh) Tex-Mex food in Wakefield. A wonderful addition to the town and as good as any local place to eat. Friendly service. Good job!

The only place I go for mexican food in SK, the Burritos are great and they have the classic ones, like the chicken bacon ranch and bbq burritos. The tacos are also great and its situated right on Main street, you really cant get a better location if you ask me.

Nice owners! Love these guys....Mike & Michelle & co. can sure make some mean ground beef tacos. The specials (ask about pulled pork or shrimp tacos) are always terrific too! Starving? --- Have a Burrito!! The burritos are mammoth filled with all the good stuff. Spicy or mild, even my temperamental tummy loves it all...which means it's all perfectly fresh and simply delish! It's a great taste of Mexi-Americana surfer dude-esque flavor! (I do agree it's Mexican-American fusion)...but all the same, it shouldn't be missed.

First time I have ever had a disappointing experience from visiting a restaurant based on yelp reviews. The tacos were tasteless and unimpressive. Taco Tuesday. Not. I don't know if it's because I was raised on the west coast and have high expectations concerning Mexican cuisine but the reviews I read that led me to this joint were very misleading. I have had better salsa out of a jar. The bathroom experience was a shared bathroom that took a key from the girl behind the counter it was located out of the restaurant and down a hall it was not marked and quite dirty.

Solid grub. I seriously appreciate the fact that El Fuego serves the California Burrito. Hard to find a good California Burrito outside of San Diego. Tasty food, tasty prices. Stamp of approval.

I'm not an expert on Mexican food, but this place is DELICIOUS. I've sampled quite a bit of their food, but my absolute favorite are their burritos. They are all tasty, but I especially like their Cali Burrito. I like to bring the whole family down especially on taco Tuesday because it's cheap! The atmosphere is nice. The deco has a surf theme and it's very stylish. The seating is very simple, the restaurant is small and low key. On a side note, anything with their guacamole is extra delicious.

Great food with friendly staff and atmosphere. A recommended stop for lunch or dinner if you are in the area. The restaurant is an over the counter style with a good size sit down area for dine-in service as well.

I *really* wanted to like El Fuego, as pretty much the only option for Mexican food in South Kingstown. I've given them lots of chances, every establishment has its off days, but the food is consistently mediocre. And I consistently leave with a bad case of indigestion. Last time, I ordered their Winnebago burrito and it was an absolute mess. Lukewarm, filled with grey, overcooked mush that wouldn't be out of place on a hospital tray. I'd give it a miss.
(1)
Allie P.
Everything is delicious. Staff is friendly and food comes out fast. I love that they have a huge beverage dispenser with free water and lots of different hot sauces to choose from. My favorite thing to get is the pork quesadilla with grilled veggies. it's amazing. Get it.

Glen W.
I'm giving this place 2 stars, only because the staff is wicked nice. If not for this, I'd give it a 1. I just had the least flavorful fish tacos that I've ever tasted...and I get them all of the time. Too bad, because the last time I went out was pretty good. I always give second chances, but I must say I'm disappointed. Hopefully the next time, they'll make up for it.
I'm definitely a fan of El Fuego! I've been here a few times since moving to Narragansett and it's the best burrito place for your buck in the area. I can only highly speak of the Ranchero Burrito (once I got the burrito for the first time, I haven't wanted to try anything else). It's a chicken burrito with ranch, barbecue sauce, cheddar jack cheese, rice, and beans. The flavor is unreal and it's very filling. The burritos come with chips and delicious salsa. End your meal with one of their churros and you won't be sorry, you'll be happily full! This is an order-over-the-counter type of place, but there are spaces to sit if you don't want to get your food to go. I've only sat once and ate there, but I noticed that most people get their food as take-out. I do however believe that their restaurant is BYOB (just what I've heard). If you're in the area and craving some good burritos, give El Fuego a try!

Went there because of an Entertainment book coupon. Because of the name, I thought it was going to be a sit down restaurant with entree choices like fajitas and carne asada (you know....grilled...things !!!). No. This was a counter-you-order type restaurant.... We got the nachos with steak and the quesadilla with steak. Both were sub par. The nachos were served in a plastic basket ..definitely not baked. The quesadilla had almost not steak in it. The cheese sauce on both was forgettable. Probably a joint for college kids and people who like Americanized Mexican food. Not a place I would go back...

For a fast, fresh, inexpensive meal in South County El Fuego is a great choice. Plus, the staff is always incredibly friendly.

Travelling through the area and was looking for something a little more authentic. The restaurant was staffed by mostly white people which was surprising but I was ready to give it a chance. It'll pass for food and you get free chips with your meal (but not many). But the flavor was non-existent. I guess we are pretty north of the border.
(2)

This place is great. It is a casual place with great burritos. It is also BYOB. If you get seat by window great view of Main Street. I have always enjoyed my meals here

Super fresh, very good food. Food is always made quickly. Small/intimate space not the best for large groups. Take-out is also prompt. The vibe is a mix of surfer/Mexican. A little odd, but it works in a cozy sort of way. If you're looking for good, fresh, fast Mexican food, then this is the best in the area. I'd definitely check this place out.
(4)

I like El Fuego because the food is good, it's inexpensive, fast and it's close to home. We went last night and had the Edamame Chicken Burrito - it is by far the best burrito that I've ever had. The chicken was cooked perfectly and the burrito was bursting with flavors. I'll be back soon for this one!!!

Not very good. The tacos are recreations of the nonsense you find at Taco Bell. Right down to the diced tomatoes, cheap shredded cheese, and iceberg lettuce. They will even put the taco on a hard shell that looks like it was bought from Taco Bell. The steak is dry and not seasoned well. The chicken is worse. The flour tortilla is a kick in the face. I spent 28 years of my life in California and have travelled to Mexico, Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona. All with heavy Mexican influence. The only way a taco should be served is on a corn tortilla; especially with no iceberg lettuce. There are certain things in Life never to be violated and a taco on a flour tortilla is just sacrilegious. If a flour tortilla is to be ever used it better be homemade; so maybe the taco gods won't be so mad. These tortillas are just bad. The worst part is they have what appears to be an actual corn tortilla press that is used for decoration; to hold up a sign. The food is not well seasoned and seems to have little care in preparing it. None of the food here is fresh. My girlfriend had a quesadilla that was served with ranch dressing, seriously? They have a burrito called the California burrito with French fries. I grew up in California and we don't put French fries on our burritos. This place is NOT a Mexican grill. Nor does it have any Mexican flavors or anything to do with the "Mexican Grill" in the name. There doesn't even appear to be a actual grill in the place. If you want a taco or anything else of that influence, look else where. Actually, just don't go here. Your taste buds will thank you for it.

Absolutely love this restaurant. I have been going here for a few years now, and it is quite the little gem in downtown. I love the atmosphere inside, and the staff is always so friendly. I usually get the Cali which is not the typical Mexi food, but it is phenomenal every time. I will forever recommend this restaurant!!!
(5)
Ryan J.
I really can't recommend this place enough. I have been going there since they opened and have enjoyed every experience I have had. The staff is always friendly and prompt with their service. Some of my favorite menu items are the Winnebago burrito and the pork tacos. The Winnebago goes great with Chalulah (sp?) hot sauce. I especially like the Taco Tuesdays when I can get a great deal on a handful of tacos. The restaurant itself is decorated nicely and uniquely. There are plenty of places to sit even when the place is busy (which is always). This place is a gem of Wakefield and I look forward to going there for many years to come.

Great place, especially for Taco Tuesdays. The salsa is fantastic, and the prices are very reasonable. You definitely get a huge portion for what you pay.

Read about it on Yelp. We were hoping for Tacos like the ones we had at El Guapos on the Cape but were somewhat disappointed. I ordered t a fish taco and beef taco. They were just okay. The soft tacos were cold and the fillings mediocre. On a positive note, the burritos were very good and the salsa was delicious.

This place is awesome. I got the buffalo quesadilla with veggies. The veggies were fresh and cooked perfectly. The buffalo sauce wasn't to mild or too hot. The fish tacos were delicious as well. No wonder they got a Best of RI award. Prices are decent too.

Food is aright. Taco Tuesday is a great deal. Service runs hot and cold. Can be somewhat disorganized when the restaurant gets busy. Pork tacos are probably the best item on the menu. Worth going back for taco Tuesday special and the pork tacos

Tired of Turkey and the mass of meat that we have from Christmas as well as being stuck in the house we set out to El Fuego to cure the winter blues. The Boom Boom Burrito has a creamy Boom Boom sauce that helps temper the mass amount of hot sauce I dropped on it. Hot sauce that is very hot (as opposed to vinegary as some people tend to think a lot of vinegar is hot which it isn't,) tends to numb sore throats as the capsaicin in the chili is used to ease pain. El Fuego has different kinds of hot sauces so it can be fun trying the different types that you find on the tables. Always fresh, always delicious, El Fuego will knock you out. Again it brightened a cold afternoon with flavor.

Ocheeto C.
The service is great. The food is ok. The chicken in the chicken tacos was dry. The salsa that came with the quesadilla tasted like it came from a can. This place is very fast food ish. Quality needs to be better. I can make better Mexican food at home. The best part about the place was the nice girl taking our orders. She was very friendly and personable.
(2)
MaryBeth O.
The food was okay. I had the Buffalo chicken salad. It was grilled chicken with hot sauce on it. There was very little salad in proportion to the amount of chicken. The tacos were good but the beef was a little too spicy for the young one in our group. Each meal came with chips which makes ordering chips and salsa unnecessary. The steak burrito was fine but a little bland.
(3)
Jeff M.
One of my local favorites! I am not a vegetarian nor vegan-minded, however the "Salubra" is the only Vegan dish that stands on its own as a simply delicious meal. Extra guacamole goes well with any of their dishes!
(5)
Tom A.
I'm not sure this really counts as "Mexican" food, per se, but the ingredient quality is decent and the pace is about right. I usually get a veggie burrito and it's fine and cheap, with fresh chips. The dishes remind me of high school cafeteria interpretations of 1970s American-Mexican recipes, again with decent quality ingredients.
(3)
Harrison E.

Probably the best Mexican food in Southern Rhode Island, every time I come in. A beef quesadilla and a daily special / fish taco will fill me up. It's extremely tasty and it's just a 10 minute drive from URI. Cheap and Cheerful !

Surprisingly good. I went full on tex mex and got the Rhody Special (I don't know if this is what it's called) but it involved ranch dressing in my burrito - so so unexpected and awesome. Portions weren't as huge as I may have imagined - finished the entire burrito in one sitting. BYOB and the seating is casual but comfortable and cool. It was pretty packed on the rainy Thursday night that we went too.

I really enjoyed their Tex-Mex version of food. Portion size is very generous. Reasonable price. Call ahead because the line was out the door!

Our entire family enjoys this little place. We usually go there or get take-out on "Taco Tuesdays" to take advantage of the reduced price. Our favorites are the "Layered Tacos", Ranchero Burrito, The Grande Burrito... and the kids love the regular tacos and cheese quesadillas. The staff is friendly and the food is always really fresh.

One of my local favorites! I am not a vegetarian nor vegan-minded, however the "Salubra" is the only Vegan dish that stands on its own as a simply delicious meal. Extra guacamole goes well with any of their dishes!

I thought this place was pretty good for fast Mexican food. People working there were very nice and food was so good i went back twice in one week!
(4)

I agree with some of the other reviews. It has a solid menu and some of the stuff is actually really good. If you want to grab something for lunch with a friend it's not a bad choice. However, it is not really "Mexican". There is still no good mexican places in Wakefield/Narragansett. Someone get on that please!!!
(4)
Kimberly S.

This place is awesome. I got the buffalo quesadilla with veggies. The veggies were fresh and cooked perfectly. The buffalo sauce wasn't to mild or too hot. The fish tacos were delicious as well. No wonder they got a Best of RI award. Prices are decent too.

Food is aright. Taco Tuesday is a great deal. Service runs hot and cold. Can be somewhat disorganized when the restaurant gets busy. Pork tacos are probably the best item on the menu. Worth going back for taco Tuesday special and the pork tacos

I love Mexican food. This place is terrible. The soggy over-cooked veggies... the rancid chips... the soggy tortillas... the slow service... I live close to the place so I've tried it 3 times, each time hoping it would be better. The food is consistent though. Consistently horrible.

Kimberly S.
I thought this place was pretty good for fast Mexican food. People working there were very nice and food was so good i went back twice in one week!
(4)
Janet R.
(4)
Michael R.

Brandon D.

(4)
MJ K.
Delicious, convenient, locally owned, great ambiance. The food is creative and fresh (check out the specials board, its always changing), the people are friendly, and the decor is colorful and bright. The Ranchero burrito is where it's at. Plus, on Tuesdays, the taco's are half price!

(2)
Dan c.

Best Mexican in South County. Very authentic. Reasonably priced. Casual but comfortable setting. Love it!

Travelling through the area and was looking for something a little more authentic. The restaurant was staffed by mostly white people which was surprising but I was ready to give it a chance. It'll pass for food and you get free chips with your meal (but not many). But the flavor was non-existent. I guess we are pretty north of the border.

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

(4)Brandon D.
Best place in Narragansett to get a burrito or a taco. Place always seems to be consistent in the kitchen. Personal favorite is the El Fuego Winnebago. Each order comes with a side of chips and salsa (that are both great). Also nice that it's BYOB.
(4)Jessica S.
(2)Jody S.
I wasnt impressed with El Fuego. We were looking for a great Mexican place and what we got was sub par. The food was just ok, nothing special, and certainly not spicy enough for my taste! The chips and salsa were tasty but I dont think I will be back...
(2)Lola G.
El Fuego is the mexican place to stop by in Wakefield! They use fresh ingredients and make everything to order. Order and pick up at the counter makes a casual atmosphere. Very good food and often a destination with family and friends!
(4)Rebecca D.
Always great food & great service at a great price! Highly recommend.
(5)Rachel L.
In love with the buffalo burrito. The owner, Mike, is always so nice, as is his staff. The prices are amazing and food comes out quickly. Everything I've ever eaten at El Fuego has been delicious. I'm totally addicted!
(5)Beezlebub W.
So good. I came here at least 3 times a week before moving to California and it was my first stop upon returning to Wakefield. Still just as good as I remember, the perfect place for a quick delicious lunch.
(5)Jason W.
(3)Emma N.
(4)Joyce F.
Love this place! Taco Tuesdays represent the best value in town for tasty, fresh and inexpensive kid chow! Adults will love the burritos and hot sauces! Can't get enough of the salsa! No kidding -- more salsa please for the chips!
(4)Margaret K.
(2)David B.
(4)Dan c.

NO THANKS.
(1)Sugar G.
(5)Salina T.
(4)Zoey C.
(2)A G.
Best Mexican in South County. Very authentic. Reasonably priced. Casual but comfortable setting. Love it!
(5)john s.
I thought this food was going to be good but it turned out to be crap. I would much rather go to taco bell then here. It is over priced for just a simple taco lacking flavor. I have also heard that he has been fined several times for having old food, and still serving it.
(1)N D.
The food was good here. It seemed like it could just use a little more flavor, but it was still good. The environment was pretty cool though. The walls are painted crazy colors and there were interesting decorations all over. The restaurant is located in an old building which adds its own character. I recommend it
(4)Jason L.
El Fuego is one of the best priced restaurants in the Narragansett beaches area. We consistantly feed our family of 4 for under $40. The staff is friendly, the food is great, and they'll accomidate special requests.
(5)Annie H.
(5)Arron C.
(3)Kenneth S.
Great food, quick service, BYOB!
(4)rina l.
Thank god there's finally a place to get decent (not creative, not out-of-this world -- but solid, flavorful, and fresh) Tex-Mex food in Wakefield. A wonderful addition to the town and as good as any local place to eat. Friendly service. Good job!
(4)John N.
The only place I go for mexican food in SK, the Burritos are great and they have the classic ones, like the chicken bacon ranch and bbq burritos. The tacos are also great and its situated right on Main street, you really cant get a better location if you ask me.
(4)J M.
(5)Betsy A.
(1)David R.
Solid grub. I seriously appreciate the fact that El Fuego serves the California Burrito. Hard to find a good California Burrito outside of San Diego. Tasty food, tasty prices. Stamp of approval.
(4)Serena S.
Good food. Fresh! Order in sit down atmosphere. Great for family. Casual setting. Has take out option.
(4)Jason M.
(5)Joshua S.
Great food with friendly staff and atmosphere. A recommended stop for lunch or dinner if you are in the area. The restaurant is an over the counter style with a good size sit down area for dine-in service as well.
(5)Mandy H.
(1)Allie P.
Everything is delicious. Staff is friendly and food comes out fast. I love that they have a huge beverage dispenser with free water and lots of different hot sauces to choose from. My favorite thing to get is the pork quesadilla with grilled veggies. it's amazing. Get it.
(5)Glen W.
(2)Melissa G.
I loved this place! First thing you'll notice is the restaurant's decor and it's atmosphere, it's just great. The staff was super nice and inviting. Service was fast and satisfactory. Now on to the most important part, the food! I had the buffalo shrimp tacos while my fiancé had the regular fish tacos. I've never even heard of buffalo shrimp tacos, but let me tell you they were great. For someone who eats buffalo flavored things a lot I can say that the flavor was perfect and wasn't buffalo flavored for the sake of throwing buffalo sauce on something and calling it a meal. He also couldn't stop raving about his own dish. We enjoyed dinner so much, we went and ordered some buffalo wings lol, which I have to recommend to order if you go there!
(5)Maura Q.
(4)Robert S.

(4)Jordan B.
Travelling through the area and was looking for something a little more authentic. The restaurant was staffed by mostly white people which was surprising but I was ready to give it a chance. It'll pass for food and you get free chips with your meal (but not many). But the flavor was non-existent. I guess we are pretty north of the border.
(2)Heather C.
This place is great. It is a casual place with great burritos. It is also BYOB. If you get seat by window great view of Main Street. I have always enjoyed my meals here
(4)Ed M.
(4)Kimberly S.
(5)Josh R.
(1)Michael O.
One of my favorite places to eat in Wakefield! I eat there for lunch at least once a week as do many of the people at my company. You really can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Try it and you won't be disappointed!
(5)Busura B.
Food is wonderful. best fish Taco on the planet
(4)Shannon M.
I highly recommend this cute little Mexican restaurant...service was great and the barbecue nachos were excellent...I will definitely be returning in the near future!
(5)Katricia P.
(5)Ryan J.
(5)Meghan M.
Great place, especially for Taco Tuesdays. The salsa is fantastic, and the prices are very reasonable. You definitely get a huge portion for what you pay.
(4)Ellen P.
(3)Molly O.
This place is awesome. I got the buffalo quesadilla with veggies. The veggies were fresh and cooked perfectly. The buffalo sauce wasn't to mild or too hot. The fish tacos were delicious as well. No wonder they got a Best of RI award. Prices are decent too.
(5)Brant W.
Food is aright. Taco Tuesday is a great deal. Service runs hot and cold. Can be somewhat disorganized when the restaurant gets busy. Pork tacos are probably the best item on the menu. Worth going back for taco Tuesday special and the pork tacos
(3)Sis Y.
(5)Ocheeto C.
(2)MaryBeth O.
(3)Jeff M.
One of my local favorites! I am not a vegetarian nor vegan-minded, however the "Salubra" is the only Vegan dish that stands on its own as a simply delicious meal. Extra guacamole goes well with any of their dishes!
(5)Tom A.
(3)Harrison E.
Good Mexican in Rhode Island you ask? The servings are gigantic, not expensive, the food is delicious, and the "surf shop" motif makes it seem as if they should have wall-to-wall beach sand on the floor to match. For north of the border, this is a well crafted gem.
(4)MJ K.
Delicious, convenient, locally owned, great ambiance. The food is creative and fresh (check out the specials board, its always changing), the people are friendly, and the decor is colorful and bright. The Ranchero burrito is where it's at. Plus, on Tuesdays, the taco's are half price!
(5)Jason Y.
Probably the best Mexican food in Southern Rhode Island, every time I come in. A beef quesadilla and a daily special / fish taco will fill me up. It's extremely tasty and it's just a 10 minute drive from URI. Cheap and Cheerful !
(5)E W.
(4)Matt J.
I really enjoyed their Tex-Mex version of food. Portion size is very generous. Reasonable price. Call ahead because the line was out the door!
(4)Lauren W.
(4)Kimberly S.
I thought this place was pretty good for fast Mexican food. People working there were very nice and food was so good i went back twice in one week!
(4)Allie P.

It'll pass for food and you get free chips with your meal (but not many). But the flavor was non-existent. I guess we are pretty north of the border.
(2)Heather C.
This place is great. It is a casual place with great burritos. It is also BYOB. If you get seat by window great view of Main Street. I have always enjoyed my meals here
(4)Ed M.
(4)Ocheeto C.
(2)MaryBeth O.
(3)Jeff M.
One of my local favorites! I am not a vegetarian nor vegan-minded, however the "Salubra" is the only Vegan dish that stands on its own as a simply delicious meal. Extra guacamole goes well with any of their dishes!
(5)Tom A.
(3)Michael R.
(3)Heather M.
My go to place for take out. The food is always fresh and the portions are large. I'd suggest calling ahead for take out since sometimes there can be a wait.
(5)Chris R.
(2)Jody S.
I wasnt impressed with El Fuego. We were looking for a great Mexican place and what we got was sub par. The food was just ok, nothing special, and certainly not spicy enough for my taste! The chips and salsa were tasty but I dont think I will be back...
(2)Lauren W.
(4)Kimberly S.
I thought this place was pretty good for fast Mexican food. People working there were very nice and food was so good i went back twice in one week!
(4)Janet R.
(4)Kimberly S.
(5)Joshua S.
Great food with friendly staff and atmosphere. A recommended stop for lunch or dinner if you are in the area. The restaurant is an over the counter style with a good size sit down area for dine-in service as well.
(5)Mandy H.
(1)Josh R.
(5)Serena S.
Good food. Fresh! Order in sit down atmosphere. Great for family. Casual setting. Has take out option.
(4)Jason M.
(5)Ryan J.
(5)Molly O.
This place is awesome. I got the buffalo quesadilla with veggies. The veggies were fresh and cooked perfectly. The buffalo sauce wasn't to mild or too hot. The fish tacos were delicious as well. No wonder they got a Best of RI award. Prices are decent too.
(5)Betsy A.
(1)David R.
Solid grub. I seriously appreciate the fact that El Fuego serves the California Burrito. Hard to find a good California Burrito outside of San Diego. Tasty food, tasty prices. Stamp of approval.
(4)Brant W.
Food is aright. Taco Tuesday is a great deal. Service runs hot and cold. Can be somewhat disorganized when the restaurant gets busy. Pork tacos are probably the best item on the menu. Worth going back for taco Tuesday special and the pork tacos
(3)Meghan M.
Great place, especially for Taco Tuesdays. The salsa is fantastic, and the prices are very reasonable. You definitely get a huge portion for what you pay.
(4)Ellen P.
(3)Sis Y.
(5)E W.
(4)Matt J.
I really enjoyed their Tex-Mex version of food. Portion size is very generous. Reasonable price. Call ahead because the line was out the door!
(4)Rachel L.
(5)Jason W.
(3)Emma N.
(4)Joyce F.
Love this place! Taco Tuesdays represent the best value in town for tasty, fresh and inexpensive kid chow! Adults will love the burritos and hot sauces! Can't get enough of the salsa! No kidding -- more salsa please for the chips!
(4)Danie R.
NO THANKS.
(1)Sugar G.
(5)Annie H.
(5)Margaret K.
(2)David B.
(4)Arron C.
(4)J M.
(5)Dan c.
I love Mexican food. This place is terrible. The soggy over-cooked veggies... the rancid chips... the soggy tortillas... the slow service... I live close to the place so I've tried it 3 times, each time hoping it would be better. The food is consistent though. Consistently horrible.
(1)Salina T.
(4)Zoey C.
(5)Allie P.
Everything is delicious. Staff is friendly and food comes out fast. I love that they have a huge beverage dispenser with free water and lots of different hot sauces to choose from. My favorite thing to get is the pork quesadilla with grilled veggies. it's amazing. Get it.

(2)MaryBeth O.
(3)Jeff M.
One of my local favorites! I am not a vegetarian nor vegan-minded, however the "Salubra" is the only Vegan dish that stands on its own as a simply delicious meal. Extra guacamole goes well with any of their dishes!
(5)Tom A.
(3)Lauren W.
(4)Kimberly S.
I thought this place was pretty good for fast Mexican food. People working there were very nice and food was so good i went back twice in one week!
(4)Janet R.
(4)Michael R.
(3)Heather M.
My go to place for take out. The food is always fresh and the portions are large. I'd suggest calling ahead for take out since sometimes there can be a wait.
(5)Chris R.
(2)Jody S.
I wasnt impressed with El Fuego. We were looking for a great Mexican place and what we got was sub par. The food was just ok, nothing special, and certainly not spicy enough for my taste! The chips and salsa were tasty but I dont think I will be back...
(2)Lindsey J.
Their food is really good and the delivery is fast as well. I usually call them when I am at work and famished. I have no complaints at all.
(4)Harrison E.
(5)Lola G.
(5)Jason Y.
Probably the best Mexican food in Southern Rhode Island, every time I come in. A beef quesadilla and a daily special / fish taco will fill me up. It's extremely tasty and it's just a 10 minute drive from URI. Cheap and Cheerful !
(5)E W.
(4)Matt J.
I really enjoyed their Tex-Mex version of food. Portion size is very generous. Reasonable price. Call ahead because the line was out the door!
(4)Rachel L.
(5)Jason W.
(3)Emma N.
(4)Joyce F.
Love this place! Taco Tuesdays represent the best value in town for tasty, fresh and inexpensive kid chow! Adults will love the burritos and hot sauces! Can't get enough of the salsa! No kidding -- more salsa please for the chips!
(4)Margaret K.
(2)Dan c.

NO THANKS.
(1)Sugar G.
(5)Annie H.
(5)David B.

(4)J M.
(5)Salina T.
(4)Zoey C.
(5)Jordan B.
I have always enjoyed my meals here
(4)Ed M.
(4)Kimberly S.
(5)Betsy A.
(1)David R.
(4)Jason M.
(5)Joshua S.
Great food with friendly staff and atmosphere. A recommended stop for lunch or dinner if you are in the area. The restaurant is an over the counter style with a good size sit down area for dine-in service as well.
(5)Busura B.
Food is wonderful. best fish Taco on the planet
(4)Maura Q.
(4)Robert S.
(1)Felix R.
For a fast, fresh, inexpensive meal in South County El Fuego is a great choice. Plus, the staff is always incredibly friendly.
