The restaurant was recommended by the desk clerk at our hotel. We ordered Sauteed Lobster, and were a bit disappointed with the smallish serving. After mentioning it to the waiter, we were presented with an additional portion to split between the two of us. Turns out the owner also though the portion was a bit small as he delivered it to our table. The food was very good, and the atmosphere comfortable. It's not a quiet place, so go else where for an intimate diner for two. It's good solid family fare, with local flavor and service. A solid choice.

Best wings in the state hands down... Pefrfect balance of spicy to flavor Also... Fried clam roll for like, $6.50 i think... unbeatable... and it was pretty damn good too. The food in general is good. The only thing I won't order again is the chowder, bland and way too think for my likings. Other than that... its the perfect food and beer place after a round of golf, and its also a good place to go for some beers at night.

I had dinner here some months back and I have to be honest, the help is very good and the food is good but it really did'nt rock my world shall we say. The decor is kitschy at best and the food is good but seems just like your standard type same ol same ol...great place if your hungry and want something in a pinch but I would'nt go out of my way to get here....

Good service and great food. The place needed a remodel, but was clean. I would definitely return here if I'm ever back in the area!

Rentes has been a hub for Bryant college kids for ages on the week nights. The prices for beers are extremely reasonable and the discounted prices for the appetizers are great. The food at rentes is good and I never had a bad meal in the four years I attended Bryant. The service during the day can be iffy with the older women as waitresses. They don't like college kids and make it known. If you aren't in college the service is golden. Prices are reasonable in the restaurant and bar. Rentes is a great experience and I recommend a visit to anyone who passes through the Smithfield area.

Parente's has been a local staple in Smithfield for many many years. This family owned restaurant and pub offers comfort and pub fare. What they do is consistent if not overly exciting. Service is usually good, so this visit my server for getting my drink and my soup was out of the norm. I usually eat here 4-5 times a year and am generally pleased. No wow factor, just good food at a reasonable price.

Only a 1 because the waitress girls were nice. Food was crap, chef was in the back seat of a car out front that appeared to belong to another waitress and doing something and quickly jumped out when we came out, totally shady. There is good food in the area, avoid this crap hole!

This is my neighborhood bar. I have been coming here for 15 years. The food is always consistently good because it always fresh. Great apps and very good pasta dishes. The owner Larry prides himself on the food and you can tell. They have great late night deals, 30 cent wings, half price apps, dollar beers. If your looking for a simple bar with very good food in a relaxed atmosphere, give this place a try. Thanks

great music, the best popcorn, chicken tenders on point

Wow was this place ugly & tired looking. Charged $0.85 extra for sauce the dish should have come with. Food was ok but there's too many good restaurants in the area to waste any time with something sub par.

A good, solid, New England pub. I have been here several times and this is NOT a Michelin restaurant by any means, but I love it because it's like Cheers - everybody knows your name. The prices are extremely reasonable, the service is excellent and personable, and the food is quite delicious! A lovely and cost-effective place to hang out and have a drink!

Parente's is great for different groups. During the day they serve good food at very reasonable prices. They offer 12 beers on tap and a full bar. Good italian/pub food. Often you can find a older crowd during the day from the smithfield area. I would highly recommend the pizza. On nights you can find live acoustic music at the full bar every day of the week. During the college season Sep-May you will often find kids from Bryant at the bar. Tuesday and Thursday nights are often the busiest. There are many TV's for watching sporting events. For Smithfield it's a great american bar, dark wood, local character and good service. Not fine dining but good casual food.

It's obvious that nobody goes here for the food. I stopped by Parente's for a quick dinner last week. It was a Thursday evening and there were maybe 5 cars in the parking lot, so that should have been telling. The restaurant was practically empty, save for a few guys sitting at the bar. I sat at the bar, ordered a drink, and began to peruse the menu. I had read a couple positive reviews about their pasta dishes, so I decided go order pasta with meatballs, after all, how could a restaurant name Parente's screw up meatballs?? Well, they could start by using some type of substance that doesn't quite resemble beef and tastes like sawdust. They could also use some type of sauce that seemed to be purely tomato paste. I would have been better off microwaving a can of Chef Boyardee. Overall, Parente's is the most disappointing restaurant in recent memory.

Started out well - Potato skins appetizer and salads were above average, My Chicken Parm dinner spent too much time in the micro - tough no flavor, wife's baked chicken was very dry. One and done .

Horribly slow! We arrived at 12:40pm. At 1:30 we still have no food! I can't rate the food because we don't have anything! We need to be somewhere by 2, taking our food to go. COMPLETELY AGGRAVATING! Update: we were told the food would be out shortly and because we had to leave we asked to take it to go. The food came out at around 1:40 and so did a $42 bill(no alcohol)! I said to the waitress that after such a horrible experience we are being charged full price? She went to get the manager who couldn't 'be bothered to come over for almost 10 minutes(we had somewhere to be by 2). I was absolutely livid. I explained that the group we walked in with and got seated at the same time with had eaten and had left 15 minutes before we even got our food! I was incredulous that they weren't going to comp any of the bill. He finally gave in and said pay half. I couldn't believe how bad the customer service was. I left the money and we took the food to go. I didn't even get to eat my sandwich because we were going to an outdoor sporting event and it was too cold to take my gloves off and eat. It is unfortunate because we will be back in the area today and there are not a lot of restaurants in the area, had we had a better experience we probably would have gone back today.

Foods not bad, service isn't either, but the bar does have a stink of mildew... and the beer has a funny taste...

Food isn't great. It is a college bar, what do you expect? Not my scene, but may be someone else's. I'm not opposed to a dive bar, but it isn't really that, either. It is okay. Beer is cold. TVs work. Food is kind of blah. Nothing is fresh.

Popcorn and pasta The first thing you notice when you walk into Parente's is the smell of freshly popped popcorn. I love the smell, sound and of course the taste of fresh popcorn. I also love to munch on something while I wait for my meal and having popcorn around makes the waiting much easier. In fact the last time we were here we had three bowls while we waited and the waitress even asked us if we wanted some more. Very pleasant and efficient service. Of course Parente's has more than just popcorn. The sign says, seafood, steaks and pasta but the menu actually has a wide variety of stuff on it. The truth is that we enjoy the pasta dishes and especially the sauces so much is that we have never tried anything but the pasta. The sauces has a tangy but not overwhelming spicy flavor to it it. So good that my friend joked that she wanted a glass of it to drink. The building looks like it has been around for a while, with the bar over on one side and a couple of dining areas on the other. I actually like the kind of well used, woody decor but I can see how someone else might think it's in need of a little renovation. Parente's is one of those country places that has probably been around for quite awhile and probably has been doing the same things and serving the same stuff for most of that time. It's very comfortable and pleasant without a modicum of pretentiousness or haughtiness. We always make a point of stopping here when in the area.

I come here quite often but never written a review. The food here isn't bad Ive only had dinner a couple of times but when I did have it it was pretty good it didn't disappoint. Drinks are reasonably priced. The dollar draft nights have moved to thurs night instead to try and compete with the other college bar effins.

The Cajun chix club. Get it with a side of their homemade ranch. Easily one of the best sandwiches in the area. And the bartenders are as good as you will find anywhere. Most places don't pour a proper drink. I've been coming here for over 12 years and will continue to frequent Parentes.

Great place for a meal or to grab a few drinks with your friends. The menu is varied and be sure to check out the specials. Parente's is proud of what they offer and it shows. The atmosphere and food brings my friends and family back again and again.

The service was good and the food was tasty and well made. The quanities were large (smaller portions available for a lower price). One half of the place was a bar and one was a family restaurant. It's located very close to Bryant college so I imagine that some weekebd nights it must be full of students. This place doesn't over promise. It's solid food for a good value. You get just what you expect with Parente's.

Not quite sure why this has such a good rating from other yelpsters. In fact someone who rated this restaurant 4 starts rated Per Se in NYC 3-stars??? But to each is own and I cannot justify anything above a 1 star. I have been going here off and on over the last 10 years and have always regretted it. There just is nothing special about it. The first thing that comes to mind when you walk in the place is, "They fry a lot of old seafood here". The clam chowder used to be good five years ago, but the last three times I have come here over a three-year span it did not sit well. In closing; do not waste your time or money.

We went to Parente's on a recommendation from a family friend and we were not disappointed. The place has a very warm pub like atmosphere on one side and a warm family style restaurant on the other side. I ordered the small portion bbq baby back ribs and a fried scallop roll with fries and a side of pasta salad. The ribs were out of this world! Probably the best I have ever had. They were so tender the meat fell off of the bone when I tried to cut them. The fried scallop roll was also delicious. They also pour a decent drink from the bar too! The service was great and the people are friendly. The chef, Marty, even came by our table to make sure our meals were to our liking. We will definitely return soon!
