Italian Cuisine
The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

I have been here twice: both for family gatherings where we had over 12 people with plenty of advance notice. This first time, we got their private back room for a brunch buffet. It was fine. We went back last night for dinner. There were already two large parties, so the big back room was taken. The servers were friendly but so slow! It took them an hour to take our orders, and close to another hour to bring them out! When they did bring everything out, everything was in chaos. Anyone who ordered a dish with a side of pasta (practically everyone as apparently Crickets is an Italian joint) received it ten minutes after all the entrees were disbursed. By this point all the pasta was cold. It took another hour to cut the cake and have dessert.

Awful. All around a very disappointing experience. Wait-staff was far from pleasant and was annoyed at every request. Long wait for food. I wouldn't recommend for a lunch date. Although, dinner could be a whole different ballgame...

It's for old people but it's still got some dick slapping food went here a few times and ate my boogers while no one was watching

I went to Crickets for a family dinner after an event. Pros: The waitstaff was very nice and attentive. They have a pretty nice bar. Cons: Horrible Decor and atmosphere Setup for the banquet was terrible. Now the most sub-par part, the food. I had backed fish and everyone else had chicken or eggplant parm. It was very mediocre at best. I probably won't go back. I see some reviews about brunch on Sunday's and I may try that. Travel 5 minutes down the street and go to Parente's. Better food and atmosphere. Thanks

Great brunch with a make your own bloody-marry & Mimosa Bar! Had a bad week, followed by a worse weekend? You know what you need, to gather up some friends on a Sunday afternoon (Brunch hours 10-2pm) a hit Crickets and go straight to the make your own bloody-marry & Mimosa Bar. Then go nuts with some waffles and eggs Benedict. Maybe make a waffle sandwich with scrambled eggs and syrup, who cares, its Sunday fun-day here. Its like $20 something dollars and sure to knock out any hangover / bad mood from a rough Saturday night out in providence.

Nice wait staff, dated and tired decor, decent atmosphere but an old clientele base. Why do so many restaurants try to compensate for food quality with portion size? There is a difference between a sear on a steak and carbon!

Service has a huge impact on my overall opinion of any establishment. The service at Crickets was attentive and friendly. The food was satisfying. We tried that appetizer combo- the mozzarella rounds were great. The meals were satisfying. The portions were huge. I will return.

Mediocre at best! Ordered lasagna the portion was good but it was cold and mushy! Ordered a soda refill and told they don't do refills here but they would be happy to take another order! The place looked upscale and the staff was a little snobby! Should of went to Asia Grill at the Lincoln Mall instead!

Crickets reminds me of the family restaurants of my youth -- independently owned, reasonably priced, and bursting with home-style flavors. It's the kind of place that grammy and grampy used to take the grandkids to reward them with Sunday lunch after enduring a never-ending church service. Even the menu reflects the community's disconnected tastes, running a schizophrenic gamut from pop comfort foods like nachos and wings, to authentic Italian-style entrees and hearty New England seafood dishes. On this day, my wife selected a nicely-prepared Baked Scrod, seasoned with crunchy bread crumbs, while the rest of us indulged in platters of tasty fresh fish and chips. And to our delight, the special that night offered an "all-you-can-eat-option" for a couple of bucks more. (Tip: The portions are certainly large enough already -- save the two bucks and buy a lottery ticket across the street. They had a Powerball winner over there once.) And though the decor could use an upgrade, the fried food was a wee bit greasy, and our server a tad cranky -- they were all authentic. A refreshing change from the mega-chain eating establishments just up the highway.

We went to this place UnYelped, occasionally a good thing to do. Similar to an experience we had going UnYelped to a BBQ in weymouth, I am sure this review is going to raise some eyebrows, as I see now many have slashed this place to ribbons. ITALIAN SUB: 4 STARS So full one could not pick it up and bite it. Lots of good stuff in it. Mounds of fries. I like the rolls a bit crispier like at Grumpy White's, but other than that it was great. PATTY MELT: 4.5 STARS The extremely hard to please Grandma really liked it. VALUE: 4.75 STARS I think both of them were like $6.95 PARKING / LOCATION: 3.75 STARS Private lot. Not right off the Interstate, but not a big detour if on the way to Twin River. AMBIENCE: 4 STARS I am puzzled by the slams on this aspect of the place. If I am getting a plate of food like that for that kind of money, I would expect chipped formica and peanut shells on the floor. This place was clean, had decorative light strings and all that, looked like it would be a good place to hold a function. SERVICE: 4 STARS She did great ( I didn't see a name tag ), especially since she was covering the bar and the entire dining room , and one of her bosses appeared to be sitting at the bar, which is always intimidating. So we think this is a swell place, and this is how it was when we went there.

This place was really just average. I went on a weeknight so it wasn't very busy and we did not have to wait at all to be seated or for our food to come. The menu did have a lot of options and I ordered their "Fresca" pizza which was pretty good (meaning, I ate almost the entire pizza by myself but managed to save one or two pieces for lunch the next day!). The rest of the details are kind of hazy but I think it involved a few chocolate martinis?

This place was terrible. I wish I could give this no stars. The waitress was making snarky comments about the other waitress. It was very slow. At one point I was even ignored by the waitress. My shrimp tasted awful. If it wasn't for my bourbon I don't think I could have made it through that meal. Very lousy and horrible staff

I'm a bit of a food snob, so imagine my surprise when I liked the food here so much and others have given Crickets such lack-luster reviews! Perhaps I just ordered well. My friend and I stopped in for lunch on a Friday. The place itself has older decor and definitely caters to an older crowd. That's ok -- they usually like a good deal, and so do I! On the specials were a few fish items: fish and chips for about $6-7, all you can eat fish and chips for about $10, and a fish sandwich with fries for $6. My friend ordered the sandwich and it was delicious! She opted for the sweet potato fries -- so perfect: lightly coated and crispy, tender and sweet inside. With her meal came a soup option. She chose the chicken escarole and gave it to me. It was super yummy! I ordered the stuffed scrod with tarragon cream sauce. I found this to be very tasty. I chose angel hair pasta rather than a potato and vegetable for the side. What a huge plate of pasta! All for about $10. Great deal indeed. The ladies working there that I encountered were both very attentive and friendly. My waitress listed the specials off the top of her head and gave answers to all of my questions with ease. This isn't her first rodeo. I'm surprisingly impressed with this place and plan to go back.

I used to go there a lot because my friend sang karaoke and it was a lot of fun. Despite being the youngest one there by about thirty years everyone sang and was friendly and had a great time. I Can't remember the bartenders name but he is always there and is always super pleasant. Remembered us and got our drinks quickly. I ate there once and only once and never again. They seemed very understaffed and the poor waitress was running around trying to serve a lot of tables at once. I had pizza. My friend had pasta. It was ok. Not fantastic but ok. I can make better at home myself. That was the last time I ate there. Anytime I was asked to go there I said ok but I was not having dinner there. If your an older crowd and just looking to hang out and have a cocktail this is a place for you. For me. Nah. Maybe if they had karaoke again. ?

We walked in here not knowing what to expect. I will say that the decor is extremely outdated and you can only imagine that the only people that dine here are your old Italian grandma and grandpa (or should I say nonna and nonno). I was right in that we were the youngest diners by about 45 years. The prices on the menu were a bit high but we everything we ordered was DELICIOUS. Also, each serving was at least for two people, so plenty for left overs. The waitress was beyond kind and interacted with my daughter quite a bit. In the future, I would consider pickup instead of dining in, simply because I prefer a different dining experience but don't dismiss the food if you're looking for a delicious and plentiful meal!

We are at Valentine's dinner, and the service sucked! It wasn't busy by any means, and the waitress couldn't get anything straight. She brought five other people's meals to the table. Had us smell the desserts she was making herself. Then, as we are finishing our meals, the waitress at the other table dropped something while carrying a tray full of trash. OUR waitress, picked it up off the floor, and placed it on our table. This was the first, and last time we will be eating here. While the food was good, it was completely invalid due to the very poor service.

I strongly disagree with the previous posts. We went last night on whim, I had one of their specials - eggplant, and meatballs with spicy marinara over fettuccine and it was amazing. The pasta was al dente, the sauce was not watery like at many places. I've been to Guido's on Hope street and many people love this place- I was disappointed because the food was not only overpriced but was very bland. The prices were more than reasonable $10.00-$15.00- I can pack away a decent amount of food but I had to pack up 2/3 of my dish because it was a giant mound of delicious pasta. I gave some to my sister and still had plenty for lunch today. The average age in the restaurant was 40+. The staff was surly but funny- I did not take offence. I will definitely be going back. This restaurant is far better than the other chain options up the road at the Lincoln mall. Our food arrived rather promptly much to my surpise. I will be going back.

New Menu, New Chef, this equates to Excellent food and presentation. Staff can get overwhelmed when they are busy, but that can happen anywhere. The new menu is a great improvement over the old one. Older more mature crowd (no screaming kids with squeaky voices thank god).

If you have just come from the hairdresser and have a walker this place is for you. The mean age of the crowd is 70. The food was boring and that is too be expected. There was a group of Red Hat ladies having a late lunch the day I was there. I had never seen so many Buicks outside of a dealership until I got to the Crickets parking lot. The service was surly but not offensive. You'd be surly too if you worked there. Its in a neighborhood of car dealrs and piles of road salt you can't expect a five star expeience.

came here for their special 10 cent wings for monday night football we got there around 9:30pm. when we walked it there no was no receptionist so we just walked right in and sat down. waited for 15 min and no one approached us then i proceeded to go to the bar and see if i could order there and when i asked they said they had ran out of wings. so i asked him to send the waiter over with a menu. we waited another 10 min and no one came the waiter did not even acknowledge that we were there so we got up and left and not going to return.

I picture Cricket's being exactly the type of restaurant that you'd see on one of those "Rescue" tv shows, where the famous chef comes in and fixes a lot of stuff. This place needs it. Others have commented on the decor, but I don't care about that at all. Give me a dive with good food and I'm happy. Give me a gorgeous place with bad food and I won't go back. Unfortunately, this isn't the best looking and the food isn't great. The staff is nice, and attentive, but the problem is the food. We started with the calimari, which wasn't bad, wasn't great. The sauce was really thin and unremarkable. I ordered the "Kickin' Chicken Salad". It came with a big pile of what looked like onion strings on top. However I don't think they had onions in them ever. I have no idea what they were supposed to be because they had zero taste. I even had someone else at the table try one and she agreed, no taste. As for the chicken in the salad, it was dry, rubbery and again, no taste. They tried slathering on salad dressing, but that only goes so far on rubbery chicken. I ended up not eating much of the chicken. The rest of the salad was fine. Certainly fresher than the chicken or whatever was on top. Another person had the ravioli, which again was unremarkable. The outer pasta had an old feel to it, like it'd been sitting around and rewarmed. The cheese filling had no taste. We didn't have dessert. With a bottle of wine and tip, the dinner for two came out to $75. This certainly wasn't worth what we got. We were first going to go to Blackie's Tavern about a mile down the road but it was too crowded. When we walked into Cricket's, it was very empty, very quiet and I feared it was because of the food. It's true, don't go eat where no one else eats.

I come to Crickets maybe 2 to 4 times a year because my grandmother likes the restaurant. I find it pretty good but would not come here if she did not want to. It is a very nice restaurant on the inside, nice bar, well decorated dinning room, and a relatively diverse menu. The food is above average but one of the biggest drawbacks is the past few times the service has been awful. It takes alittle while to place your order and then tough to track down the waitress to get a refill. The last time we went it took over 40 minutes (from the time we ordered) to get our food and from the 20 minute point on the waitress, when she did stop by said the food would be out in a minute. They try to do different forms of entertainment such as lounge singers, karaoke, singles night. I stopped by Karaoke once with 2 friends on the way home and I am pretty sure we were the only ones under 60 there but it was crowded and everyone seemed to be having fun which is what matters! They do everything on the menu 1/2 priced during the week which is a fantastic deal because the restaurant is a little on the expensive side. If you are doing the 1/2 price dinner nights I would recommend avoiding the specials because they jack-up the prices outrageously ($23 for a pasta dish with chicken) to make it average price after the discount. Overall, it is a decent meal in a nice atmosphere. During the winter they have a delicious Sunday Brunch which I would rate in the 4 star category in quality.

Worst thanksgiving ever!!!!! Only went there because my kitchen is being remodeled. Waited 2 hours and when the slop came out it was cold. Hostess didn't seem to care when we complained as we were leaving. Only consolation was I was able to tell two other parties to leave and they did. Lucky them! Oh yeah and the place is a dump!
