Great new spot. Really tasty food with cheap prices! Craft beers for $5 and dinners that were very filling for $8. Friendly service, cool looking bar and great atmosphere. Highly, highly recommended!

This place has switched so many owners that I was incredibly reluctant to set foot into another disappointment. That being said, I was quite impressed with both the service and the food. The waiter was new, but he was very polite and even gave me a complimentary cup of home-made peanut butter on request. The french toast was also quite delicious, although the bacon ice cream was just a bit too sweet, but my friends didn't mind when I offered it to them. I didn't get to try the chicken waffles, but it was well loved. Food: 3 stars Service: 4 stars Ambiance: 3-4 stars

I (apparently) was one of the few really sad about the end of Succotash, I liked it three. Alas... Happy to see a new place in so we checked out the Village for drinks the other night. Looks good, it was early on a Sat night so very low key. Friendly staff, good beer selection and drinks overall. Didn't eat much- just some sweet potato fries (which were excellent). The menu looked good and other patrons seemed happy with their food. I'd definitely be back. Great potential in this new place!

We came here for Sunday brunch. The service was quick and friendly, the food was perfected done and we couldn't be happier. Had the bagel with smoked salmon with herbs and tomato with an extra egg on top and it was perfect. The bf had hashbrown skillet and cheesy grits - omg so good!

Nothing special. The service was pretty bare-bones. Our water was never refilled. I watched a table leave after 20 minutes passed without a server going over to them. The menu looks good and is reasonably priced. Food is ok. I had the bagel with salmon, cream cheese, capers, tomato, and red onion. So it wasn't as if they made any of it, just put it on a plate. It was tasty but you can't really go on something they merely assembled. The biscuits and gravy, though? Gross. Watery and flavorless. I wouldn't recommend it or go back willingly.

Ok spot. Food was nondescript and none off order came as ordered. Service slow and inattentive.

Great service. Had pizza that kids enjoyed. Within walking distance to childrens museum and easy on the pockets.

Funny! This place was a blast. I went with my cousins for brunch and we had a lovely time. The food was terrific--but the thing that stood out for me was the fussy, fussy tea service. They have a tea menu and then fancy little glass tea pots and saucers, and tea bag saucers, and ...well, it was worth the trip.

Had brunch today. It was a hash brown plate with an egg and pepper jack cheese. It was phenomenal, as was the hot flash Bloody Mary I drank while I ate it. Service was great, and the atmosphere was excellent as well. I may come back again for brunch!

I've been to this place a few times before, including when it was Succotash, and I believe there is a trend - good food but atrocious service and execution. I arrived today to meet a party I was with. I was late meeting them so they already ordered (fair. I'd do the same). However the waitress had only taken their order a few minutes before I joined them. Confused as to why it took her a lengthy time to bring me a menu - only after I asked and the entire party's food was delivered. I placed my order - simple order - grilled cheese with a side of grits. Let the waiting game begin. I waited. Waited. Everyone ate. Still waiting. Finished their food. Plates cleared. Waiting. Waiting. So I ask "can you cancel my food? It's been 25 minutes." She tells me "oh. It's ready. It's sitting in the window. They had a 6 top to make food for first". So she boxes it up for me - sans the grits since she forgot to put them in yet still charged me ten bucks for a grilled cheese! I asked three times to just cancel my order but almost seemed forced to take it despite her lack of any sort of understanding. I made my dissatisfaction known to what I thought was the manager. He explained the turmoil between the back of the house and front of the house (I get it. I'm in the industry) and a lack or urgency. Also that our server COURTNEY was extremely hungover and she probably just forgot to even put my order in. Not an excuse in my book - I've been hungover at work too but my job is to take care of the customer. I hesitate to ever go back again. I can forgive a place for lack of staff, being new, or being extremely busy. None of these issues were the problem. It was a bad server giving too much info to a customer who doesn't know how to do her a job.

We dropped by for a happy hour beverage. The bar is great. Drinks are strong and tasty. The service is wonderful, prompt, and friendly. After getting a glance at the menu I couldn't wait and had to try the burger. It was delicious and very flavorful. Combine that with the hand cut cheese & pretzel roll and I was in heaven! (Actually I've been dreaming of it since I left.) The attention to detail is strong and runs through everything. Although this place is new don't let it fool you. It's stocked with experience and is worth a chance! They also have a brunch menu and I've got my eye on it this weekend. Give it a try. You'll leave full, happy and wanting more.

The restaurant, located next to Olga's - where Succotash used to be, is welcoming and nicely set up. Four of us went to check it out and we have mixed reviews... The sweet potato fries were crispy and nicely done. The steak pizza was good, but a bit undercooked and almost no steak to be found...lots of cheese, peppers and mushrooms. The Cobb salad was average, but the extra piece of fried chicken was bland and dry The cocktail drinks were average at best, nothing memorable. Overall a nice casual spot for a drink and grub, but not an epicurious destination.

I love the Village! The quality of the food here is a big improvement over the previous establishment (Succotash). I came here for brunch twice and both times I got the create-your-own skillet because it's SO GOOD. Crispy hash and melted cheese mixed with your favorite meats and vegetables - what more could you want? Their french toast, which I tried a bite of, was delicious and full of bourbon. I'm not a huge fan of the 80's/90's music videos, but I may be in the minority on that one as this place is becoming very popular. The second time I came the restaurant was packed. We were able to be seated right away, but it took a long time for the food to be served. It won't deter me from coming back, though. The food is just too good.

So I walk in last Wednesday, an absolutely frigid night, and find the Village empty except for a few patrons at the bar. I ask for a table for 4-6 and imagine my surprise when they tell me it's completely booked for trivia night! We did manage to scrounge the last open table and were intrigued enough to stay for trivia. What fun! I highly recommend it. The draft beers aren't terribly exciting but the bottles options aren't bad. No cocktail list yet but the liquors behind the bar are above and beyond the typical.. And the tender offered to make anything/everything we could want. Food wise, we ordered Mac and cheese x3, hit the spot on a chilly night. The village cakes were crispy yet tender mini versions of the Rhode Island johnnycakes, which I would gladly eat again. However to reiterate, highlight of the evening was trivia. If you're a buff or a newby, bring some buds and check it out. But remember, you'll need to call for a table.

By far the best, most decadent breakfast restaurant in Providence. Excellent service, amazing Bloody Mary's and fantastic ambience. Why wait for a table at Olga's when a culinary oasis is just around the corner at The Village.

This place was very disappointing. we ordered the chicken and waffles for breakfast. The chicken on top of our waffles was nothing more than chicken fingers. These chicken fingers were clearly frozen out of the bag. The toast was good. But this wouldn't probably make us return. The chef came out of the back and reprimanded one of the bartenders. When we tried to say goodbye and thank you at the end of our meal to the chef she was extremely rude. she was either having a really bad day or clearly did not want to be there. Overall not a good experience. Would not recommend and we won't be back.

I'm so pleased to write this review. I always hope for the best when a new place opens. Succotash (formerly in this space) was such a disappointment in so many aspects. Now that I've tried The Village, I will definately be returning! Outstanding service and an extremely cool atmosphere. Music videos from the 80s and early 90s playing at a low level to allow for conversation.... warm and inviting servers, and fairly priced and delicious food. The menu is very creative and diverse. I had the Steak Pizza... a generously sized pizza (I could only eat half) that can feed two for only $10. I look forward to trying everything else! I look forward to trying brunch and going for drinks and live performances. Cheers to The Village!

Let me reminisce for a moment here... I remember when this was Jake's Bar & Grille; oh the fun times I had there! Jake's wasn't a dump but it also wasn't as beautiful as it stands today as The Village. My friends and I planned for a night out and to cater to our dear lesbian friend, it was decided that we'd head here and check it out. We arrived around 9:45 and there wasn't a cover, however; after 10 p.m., it's $10. The atmosphere was really warm, welcoming and beautiful! I was very impressed with the bathrooms and the massive blue/green watery bubbly type thing behind the massive bar. Because we arrived early, we were able to grab one of the four long tables next to the small dance floor. There were 7 of us and we were able to sit at the table very comfortably with plenty of room. One of the things I didn't like was at the door where ID's were being checked, it was roped off to such a small area that there was only enough room for one-way traffic; if there were people waiting to get their bracelet and you wanted to go outside, you'd have to wait for them to move out of the way. We didn't order food and I wish I had looked at the menu because based on the espresso martini that I ordered, I bet the food is amazing. Back to the espresso martini.... yum! Probably the best I've ever had; the bartender actually made fresh espresso! For a Miller Lite and my espresso martini, the bill was $13.25... a touch overpriced in my opinion. Another thing I didn't quite care for was the D.J. and the music she was "spinning." Right at 10 p.m., they dimmed the lights, turned on the disco balls and blasted the music (it was way too loud, I thought) and we had to suffer through lots of bad songs and repeated bouts of silence because the song would just stop mid-way for a good minute or two. I'm definitely interested in going back to The Village to check out some of their menu items and also enjoy the awesomely massive kerosene lamps out front which made it somewhat tolerable to smoke a cigarette in arctic temperatures.

My partner and I have continued to go to The Village for the fabulous service and great atmosphere. The deviled egg special is always amazing as well as the bottomless mimosas. Courtney is an amazing server and has always made us feel welcome. I highly recommend this spot!

I really want to see this place succeed. I've seen this location as many different things through the years, and so far, The Village has the most inviting atmosphere of them all. The first time I went was on a Thursday around 2:30pm. I was craving brunch, and there aren't many brunch options for that time of day on a weekday. The Village had brunch! I was pleasantly surprised, and even more impressed to discover that the food was affordable AND delicious. I told all my friends about it, and then convinced a couple of them to come back with me on a weekday for brunch (a month later). Much to my dismay, they changed the menu to lunch and dinner food only. I ordered a burger, which was good, but not what I came for. I think it's a huge missed opportunity to omit all the weekday brunch items. My friends were disappointed and I don't think they were impressed enough to go back. Hopefully this place will find their groove, because the food is good!

Walked in for dinner with my mom, and we were both so happy we did! The food was DELICIOUS! We got the mediterranean platter to start- which was huge and packed with great quality foods! I also had their homemade baked ziti- which I would not typically order out, but good thing I did- it was incredible- just the right combination of cheesiness and crispiness! The drinks were reasonably priced, service was friendly and timely, and the decor is very interesting. I highly recommend this place for dinner!

Stopped in on a weeknight. Place was completely empty (no hostess or waitstaff!). The bartender was very cordial, seated us, took our order. Menu is uninspired (pizzas, burgers) but the food was decent enough and reasonably priced. Could have done without the endless country music videos playing on the numerous tv screens. A passable spot if you're in the area but not worth a special detour.

Why do you have to give a star in order to review something? What if they don't deserve it? Me and three of my friends wanted to support the gay pride parade although we are all straight females ourselves. First of all you had to pay 20 dollars which is whatever because all the pride party's were 20 cover. However, the customer service here is RUDE and kicked out one of our friends later in the night. Why? The bathroom line in the restaurant was really long and as girls do sometimes, we filed in the bathroom as a group so we could all pee, but apparently there was a sign on the wall (aka a piece of paper that nobody can read because it's so dark in the place to begin with). My friends still peeing for literally 15 seconds and this barbaric security guard is pounding on the door like the FBI. Me and one of the girls come out to tell her our friends still peeing and what's her problem? She's a total bitch about it and puts her hand in our face and screams "GET THE FUCK OUT MY FACE" instead of even explaining why she was freaking out. Our other friends come out and the security guard put her hand in and on her face before she could even leave the bathroom. She stormed off to tell another staff member and we intervene after and tell the other staff member the situation and she just apologized. We go back out to the tent and one of our friends invited a boy that was a friend.. This is the same girl who got a face palm. She waits for him to get to the tent and then the same girl who kicked her out whispered something to another staff member and they picked her up and dragged her outside and said she was kicked out because "she talked back"! Our friend called us and we talked to the staff who was the original lady who apologized and all she says to us is "sorry once a staff says something we can't let you back in" and that's complete bullshit. We payed 80 just to get into this place that doesn't even listen to the customer never mind respect them as human beings. We will never go back to this place. OH and forgot to mention.. There was no toilet paper in the women's bathroom so everybody was using the men's and we were at least giving toilet paper out so more people could go to the bathroom. Shouldn't the staff be monitoring the hygiene of this place instead of fighting a bunch of little girls. Let it be known, Jane needs to get laid. And the staff here needs to pay more attention to what's really going on. For example there was a woman who rolled a joint at the bar on a bar stool in front of me. She actually asked to use the chair I was leaning on. How's that for security? You ask me these people all need to blaze one! ROLL YOUR JOiNTS HERE You'll get in less trouble than going to the bathroom together. worst part is if we were older nobody would of said anything but since we're young they assume we're having an orgy? I'm Sorry but our hygiene is way better than yours and wouldn't even consider hooking up in a bathroom if we were gay. Thats degrading that she would even assume that. So roll your joints and have orgies in the bathroom.. if your over the age of 23 you'll get away with everything.

This is place is seriously so AWESOME!! I cannot think of anything bad to say about The Village. The quality of the food is outstanding and you can't beat the prices. Seriously so cheap for what you get! I couldn't say anything better about the service either. Its always such a fun experience and all of the employees make you feel right at home. I mainly go there for brunch on the weekends with friends which is usually the highlight of the weekend. If you're in the area, definitely stop by! Ask for Courtney as your server if you want nothing but the best. Don't forget to ask about their bottomless mimosas either! Its perfect with brunch on the weekends and may I recommend their Eggs Benedict!!

Amazing spot, with a perfect location on Richmond Street in Providence! They have great brunch on weekends from 10am-3pm with delicious food and courteous, fun servers! Want a good bloody mary? Come here! As for the other stuff that happens at the Village, they have Wednesday night trivia with awesome prizes, and the weekends have great performers and DJs! The kitchen is open until 10pm. I recommend the LGBT sandwich (blt with guac) but the menu has something for everyone. All in all, The Village is at great spot to become a regular at. The atmosphere is always warm and welcoming. The bar staff is top notch, fun and friendly! If you haven't been here yet...I don't know what you're waiting for!

Stopped in for a late lunch on Sunday with my wife and two dogs. They had no problem letting us sit in the patio area. They even brought water for the dogs. Nice touch. I had the blue and fig grilled cheese. Great flavor combination. My wife had the pizza. Food is decent.

The place is cute, clean, good atmosphere, haven't tried the food, I have only been there for the evenings. I give it a 2 star because This bar charges a cover of $5-10 even when it is dead inside. and really it just isn't worth the price. If you are going to charge me a $10 cover and have high priced drinks then at least say 1 drink free with admission or something. When my friends and I are going to 3 or 4 bars in one night it just isn't worth it to pay the $10 to get into one that may or may not be dead and isnt even offering you a band or anything. drop the cover or add a comp drink and they would get more business.

I love The Village! I think Pride block party was amazing. We even went to brunch the day after pride and you could tell the staff was exhausted but, that didn't stop them from providing us good service, and awesome food! My new favorite gay place to hang.
