Sorry but this place is not open. I was there today for lunch and was very diss appointed with YELP because a store owner next door told me the restaurant is closed for a week. Who knows why.

I've already eaten lunch here twice and really enjoyed the food both times. I had the shredded chicken nachos, steak house burrito, and steak soft shell tacos. Everything was fresh and delicious. The waitress is very kind and attentive. They have the iPhone credit card adapter so if you're paying with a card it never leaves your sight. I hope this place sticks around for awhile! Welcome to the neighborhood!

Letty's is a solid brunch restaurant! It's a shame that this restaurant is often so empty, given the exorbitant waits at nearby restaurants. I'd say the food itself is about 3-star cooking. It's about what you'd expect from the hole in the wall corner restaurant. However, the brunch is quite good. My eggs are always cooked just right. It's all very flavorful. However, they excel at customer service, accommodations, expedience in cooking, and consistency. I'd say they're about 5 stars there, averaging to 4 stars overall. Having gone with a pretty big group this past Sunday, we ordered a variety of things. Everyone was satisfied with their meal. The breakfast burrito looked amazing; the omelet was perfect; my huevos divorciados were on point. Their plantains deserve extra mention, because they're pretty much perfect. The salsas aren't much to write home about, and the rice and beans are just rice and beans. But, I mean, what do you expect when you order rice and beans? I would definitely return here again. Thanks for being awesome, Letty's! I hope they catch on soon, although I'll miss not having to wait for brunch. PS If you are gluten-free for any reason, this restaurant has loads of options.

Letty's is a great wonderful thing to see for these tired eyes. Providence needed a good Mexican breakfast place and we got it with Letty's Compared to the other restaurants on Broadway, you are going to be getting your breakfast on the cheap here at Letty's. There are 5+ Huevos Rancheros for under $6.50. Don't get me wrong, the quality is top notch here. So that price isn't going to give you a sub-standard meal. Service is just great here, I mean who else will give you a nice tasty biscuit with your coffee? I know all reading this are waiting in line at Nick's or Julians, take it from me and head to Letty's for a minimal wait and great food.

I feel bad writing this review because the people at Letty's Cocina were incredibly nice, but the food was quite dissapointing. I generally love queso fundido. I mean, melted cheese mixed with chorizo - what's not to love? The onion taste for their queso fundido was way too strong, though, making it somewhat unpalatable. I also got the tostadas tres amigos (or something along that line), which on the menu was described as tostadas with salsa, guacamole and refried beans, topped with cheese. What I got was 3 separate tostadas: one with salsa, one with beans, and one with guacamole. As for the cheese, there was so little they may as well have not bothered. It was a very confusing dish which left me totally unsatisfied. Perhaps I just ordered wrong and it was an off day, but I will not be returning to find out.

Easily the best Central American food I've had in Providence. I've been three times, and each time, the server has been attentive, the menu items have been fresh and capitalized on rich, native flavors (rather than being overly salted or doused in cheese), and the roasted tomato salsa is not to be missed! It's oddly empty in here--perhaps due to odd hours (not open evenings...). The ambiance is casual. Go enjoy for lunch!

Just like most everyone on this Sunday mid-day, I wandered into this place after having had enough of the 45-minute wait on Nick's on Broadway. Also, with all the extra shortage of parking on roads with hardened snow, it was just not worth driving around to look for other places on impulse. This place is actually not Mexican but Guatemalan. I thought that was very interesting. It is a competitive advantage that the place should play up; after all, there's not a lot of Guatemalan dining spots on Broadway. The menu had ample Guatemalan breakfast choices with some standard pancake and omelet for the traditional, mixed in. I saw that waffles were "coming soon!" (sic). There were also lunch items on the menu. I enjoyed the taste of the food enough but the cook got our order wrong despite the diligent efforts of our server. I'll be honest, this place has to do much better on service. I ordered the Artisanal version of a scrambled egg with tomato and onions, opting for egg whites, and easy on the onions, with extra plantain instead of refried beans. A friend of mine ordered an egg white omelet without the tomatoes, no potatoes but fried plantains, too. I like that they do not give a fuss about requests for side dish exchanges. The wait for our orders averaged 15-20 minutes even though there were only 3 occupied tables at the time. My sauteed eggs arrived without tomatoes. I pointed it out to the server who went in and must have had some discussion with the cook. Meanwhile, I am sitting there, unsure whether I should start jabbing my fork into the side dishes; I did anyway. Plantains were delish! Nice, well meaning server comes back out and asks me if I want them to make the eggs with tomatoes still. (Still? So I was expected to actually just eat the dish before me. Hmm...food service 101?). "Yes, please," I said. She takes my entire plate back into the kitchen. I protest as I was already enjoying the plantain. She comes back out with the plantain in a small dish. Hmm My friend unfortunately spills the glass water on the table, liquid dripping into her lap and sprinkling her omelet. We scramble for napkins. Server comes back and asks, while we are wiping, if we want her to help us clean up the spill. Huh? I said "Yes, please". Then she starts to wipe from my side, facing my friend who is across me, reaching over the table. I suggested she go over to where my friend is sitting and it may be so much easier for her and my friend, this way. My sauteed eggs were salty but my husband's Breakfast Burrito was enjoyable. Prices are reasonable. Corn tortilla was of great quality -- warm, light colored delicate. Coffee refill was aplenty. They even give mints with the bill. So, go there. Check the place out but avoid modification requests on your dish if you can. Gets the cook confused. Also, be patient with the service. I think with a few more months of practice, this place can get it right. It should be pointed out that they have a huge opportunity to make themselves favored with the hungry crowd that spills over from Nick's, so getting it right the first time so people can come back, is key. As for me and my group, I am not sure. We found the food all right but were underwhelmed with everything else.

I was not a fan of the former restaurant that occupied this space, so here is a happy welcome to the neighborhood to Letty's I've walked by this place a bunch of times before I got to give it a try. While it was 6pm on a weekend night, the people working there were sweeping the floors so it looked at first like they weren't open, but we decided to ask anyway and they said to come on in. Everything is homemade and authentic here - from the chips and salsa to the corn tortillas. I unfortunately ordered wrong - as it seems to be my thing lately and was disappointed with the chicken mole, but my friend ordered right with a dish we had never heard about - it consisted of chicken and potatoes. She luckily let me try a bite and it is that bite that is going to bring me back.

I came here for brunch today and cannot highly recommend the food and excellent service enough. The artisanal breakfast - any of the egg dishes plus plantains, refried beans, crema, a hard cheese, and a handmade tortilla - clocks in at an incredibly affordable seven bucks(ish). I wish I had taken a picture because it was so beautifully laid out. The tortilla is handmade, warm, thick, and delicious. The plantains are sweet and sticky and perfectly browned. The eggs we ordered - flor de epizote (squash flower) had a really flavorful astringent/vegetable taste. This is "real food" for sure. And to too it all off, we automatically received tortilla chips and salsa, an almond cookie was included with each coffee, and a sample of their warm atol corn drink. I hope this gem sticks around in my neighborhood! I'll be back!

Ever since I moved into Federal Hill, I've lamented the fact that for all of the great restaurants we have, there isn't really that much in the way of cheap options for basic decent food. I like Classic Cafe for that reason, and rejoiced when the West Side Diner opened... although those are both only open for breakfast and lunch. Letty's is a relatively new option that's super convenient for those of us who live between Knight Street and the highway, north of Westminster. It's right by Nick's on Broadway, but it has no wait and really good food that wound up being about $12 a head with tax and tip for our group. I've only been for breakfast. The breakfast menu consists of about half a dozen juevos rancheros options, another half dozen omelette options, a breakfast burrito and the standard two eggs, toast and coffee special. It DOES NOT have booze and it does not have extensive breakfast options or its own unique twist on breakfast. They do serve lunch and dinner, basic cheap Mexican cuisine. I have not had this yet, but I can't wait to try it. There are days that I don't feel like making dinner but I also don't feel like paying the prices at Julians, Nicks, or the Grange. Letty's is a great addition to the neighborhood, and I have a feeling once the word gets out about it's excellent and cheap breakfasts, you'll see it start to get packed on Saturday and Sunday mornings.

Delicious! 6 different kinds of huevos rancheros each for $6.50! And the best hot tortillas I've ever had. The chorizo tacos were ultra-fresh & tasty. This spot has a sweet, friendly atmosphere. Prices are cheaper than one would expect for a West Side restaurant. I will be back here again & again.

Came here under the lure of cheap tacos and ended up having their carne asada with chimichurri sauce. While flavorful, the beef is thinly sliced and broiled and as such, ended up on the chewy side. Ignore the tortillas and eat this with a fork instead. The plus side is that you get very generous portions of food for the price. I like the hot green salsa that comes with your chips. (They give you both red and green) The fried plantains are sweet and soft, but not mushy, and served with crema. The house burrito is massive - at least two pounds of food. Their rice, beans, and salad are decent. It's hard to mess this stuff up, though some people might dislike the beans. They are well cooked and mashed almost to a paste.

Everything I have had has been very good. The food is fresh, homemade and tasty. They make there own corn tortillas and salsa. Compared to the other Guatemalan restaurants in the neighborhood there breakfast seems a little lighter. I have also had their shrimp fajitas and grilled shrimp which were both very good. My husband had the garlic shrimp which was in a delicious sauce with lots of garlic. Service is vert attentive and friendly. Since the food is homemade, it is a little different every time which I don't mind.

Wanted to check this place out as it's near work and I always love good latin food, though it usually makes me want to take a nap as soon as I'm back at work. Glad I can say this place fits the bill! It used to be a small place called Mi Deleite, but the interior is updated and the inviting. We tried a few different things, all of which were good. Tacos are $1.50 and I enjoyed the marinated pork the most, thought the steak was also good. The best, though was their pulled chicken..it was very tender and flavorful and was perfect on the nachos. The meals were good as well - good rice and beans and thick tortillas, and I was told the burrito was quite good as well, though at that point I was too full to really try any more. Will return soon and a welcome addition to the neighborhood!

Delicious!! Doesn't get much better than homemade chorizo and warm homemade tortilla's. An excellent addition to the Broadway brunch selection . Will definitely be part of the Julian's, Nick's on Broadway rotation. Strongly recommend!

We stopped in for lunch after we found the wait at Nick's was 40 minutes and are we glad we did! The place is spotless and the staff is very friendly. You get very generous portions of good food for a very reasonable price. While you wait they bring chips and both red and green salsa (loved the green). The fried plantains are sweet and soft. If you like Mexican food you should try this wonderful Guatemalan restaurant.

So glad I couldn't get into Nicks on Broadway for breakfast. Best authentic Mexican food I've ever had and 3 people the bill was less than 30 for this area thats fenominal. I will be back for their huevos rancheros. Served with hot homemade tortillas.

I went for dinner with 4 friends and a baby, which they accommodated with no problems. The people who work there are very nice and helpful, and happily explained items on the menu. We were served fresh salsas and chips with a small side of guacamole and black beans to start, on the house. Most people ordered fajitas (with various meats) and one ordered a chicken stew. Everyone raved about the quality of the food, good flavors, and the value for the price. The soft corn tortillas that were served with the fajitas were fresh and homemade, and quickly devoured! They are working on getting a liquor license, but for now you could try their agua de Jamaica (or Hibiscus tea - served iced). Gluten free folks: I am not sure whether you could eat here because they may use gluten-containing ingredients in sauce thickeners, so you might call ahead and ask what they use. We will definitely return!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
