Amazing bakery. Let me get just one negative out of the way first.. The peanut butter cookies. The peanut butter flavor is too mild and the texture of the cookie itself is very dry and crumbly. Actually, now that I think of it, most of their cookies are dry...Not a fan at all. Okay, moving along... There are 2 specific items that are my absolute must have/ can't live without/ favorites that keep me coming back again and again: 1. Spinach, Pepperoni & Cheese Calzone - Never was a fan of spinach calzones until I tried one from here. This calzone is simple yet packed full of flavor. From the spicy perfectly seasoned spinach filling to the thin, crunchy, buttery crust, this calzone is a must try. I always get mine heated there so it's nice and crispy and I can enjoy it on my ride home. The best. 2. Zeppoles - I've tried my share of zeppoles from various bakeries, but LaSalle's is the absolute best. The sweetness is just right as is the filling to pastry ratio. Perfection. Honorable Mentions: Banana Chocolate Chunk muffin, European Danish, Cinnamon Bun, Fruit Tart. There are so many other delicious looking items that I haven't even tried as of yet, but you cannot go wrong here. Everything is pretty much spot on.

Best bakery in RI! Hands down!! There is always customers going in and out all day long! They also have an amazing lunch menu. Yummy Yummy

I don't know how l have never been here before. Oh my god ! My friends all keep telling me to go so I finally went. Every single person who I came across who worked there said hello with a big smile. After some debate I got a ham and cheese croissant , a lemon square, an apple turnover , and a lb of dough. Last minute I spotted Chocolate hazelnut coffee so I had to have that too. It was about $12.00 all together which isn't bad for all I got. Now the food ... Coffee was delish. Hot and fresh. Lemon square was chock full of lemony goodness. The apple turnover was buttery and sweet and generously filled with apples. The croissant was cheesy and buttery and had just a few pieces of ham which I love. Too much ham can overwhelm it. The dough. I think I paid $1.50 for it. It rose beautifully and I was able to Stretch it no problem for my pizza. I am so looking forward to my day off so I can go again and get some more croissants and coffee !

Stopped by to get some pastries. Pecan roll, fruit tart, carrot cake and raspberry square. All of them were outstanding. Moist, flavorful, yummy. The best deal was the pecan roll for $0.99. The fruit tart and carrot cake were over $3 but yummy licius ...and worth every penny...every bite. This is my favorite bakery in the area, I would go here for dessert any time. :-)
(4)Melissa P.
I love it here their pastries are delicious. I love their Italian grinder. Great flavored ice coffee as well. The party pizza is the best around!
(5)Susan A.
They lost a star when they remodeled and became more of a cafe than a bakery. Their zeppoles come in flavors but are meh compared to other Italian bakeries. After trying their sandwiches a couple of times, I'm all set really. Go back to doing what you did best, bread, pizza, spinach pies and pastries.

I came here for lunch the other day and was not overly impressed. I had heard great things about the veggie pizza so I ordered a slice and a steamed soy milk. Mmm the soy milk was yummers, but the pizza not so much. It was loaded down with spinach and other veggies, tons of cheese and sauce. So I guess if you like that sort of thing, maybe you'd dig it? I just didn't like the choice of veggies, the sauce, or the cheese they used. The crust was delicious though...really buttery. The staff is great here, and it's a great place to meet up for a drink and pastry. I just wouldn't come for lunch again.
(3)Kevin R.
Everything here is great.... I suggest the following: 1. Russian Tea Cake 2. No nut brownie 3. Apple turnover 4. Eclair 5. European 6. Sicilian Bread, dark 7. Banana Chocolate chunk loaf 8. Apple squares 9. Nut brownie The Russian tea cake is my new favorite.... Love this place!!!
(5)Nu I.
I love LaSalle Bakery! I love everything from their coffee, pastry and even sandwiches. All the people that work there are friendly and always ready to answer any questions you may have. Be aware that both Bakeries have cafe areas and students enjoy lounging ther so it may not be very peaceful place after schools let out :-) My favorite pastries are the tiramisu and the cheesecake, very well done and not overly rich. I usually go with an iced coffee, and since I know a bunch of the baristas there, I usually let them mix up different coffee flavor combos for me.
(5)Liz C.
Stopped in today for some sweets. I don't often get to this tried and true gem even though I'm only a few miles away. The tough part is deciding among all the delicious and beautiful pastries and cookies. I left with no nut brownies and yellow cupcakes as well as a rainbow bundt cake. Grand total $18, worth every penny. Brownie was fabulous, I'll have to let you know about the bundt cake tonight. It's great that they have a private parking lot too!
(5)Philip M.
Outstanding quality and selection of coffees, pastries, and lunch items! Comfortable environment with friendly service. Easily accessible location near Providence College.
(5)Mike P.
There's a reason it is so popular- it's damn good! A very diverse menu of goodies to choose from, you can come for lunch or buy their delectables to feed guests at a dinner party. The service is always excellent and despite the long lines, it is quick moving. Now back to enjoying my Bailey's infused zeppoles on St. Joseph's Day.
(5)Brittany R.
Everytime I drive by it my tummy flutters....yum...time for an eclair

Had this place on my food-dar for a while, having heard numerous accolades about their desserts and wonderful customer service. While the decor was not earth shattering and gave a dunkin' donut vibe, the services were excellent and they were very polite. The desserts, at least the yogurt based muffin and the pistachio cannoli were really disappointing. The cannoli were pre-made and the filling was too sweet and I really couldn't appreciate much of the savory nutty flavors of the pistachio. The yogurt muffin, was, for a lack of better word, uninspiring and fattening, enough said. What really sold the place, however, were the sandwiches and the calzones. They're incredibly well priced, and the spinach calzones are some of the best I've ever had. The focaccia ham, red pepper sandwiches are amazing and great when pressed into a panini. Best of all, there are ample outdoor seating to enjoy your dessert and your lunch outside with decent protection of the sun if you so desire. Overall, even though the baked goods weren't all that impressive, the lunch menu goodies and the great service yielded a 4-star review. Food: 3.5 star Price: 3.5 star Service: 3.5 star Ambiance: 3 star Good mood: increased to 4.
(4)Neli T.
Had dinner tonight there with my daughter and the food really good . The pastries, cakes and cookies are yummy. The price for the goods is fair and the staff is always supper nice. repeat customer over many.... yummy A+
(5)Mike M.
I'm torn on my rating - the bread, pastry and sandwiches are very tasty, but I was both surprised and disappointed when an employee informed me that they use hydrogenated oil and trans fat shortening in both their soft rolls, as well as their cakes/frostings. In my experience, most high end bakeries use butter, butter cream, cream cheese, etc in place of hydrogenated trans fats. I sincerely hope management will consider eliminating these unnecessary chemicals from their products - they're not needed! Coffee was meh - the milk in my latte was boiled and scorched. So, while the taste of the bakery items is great, I won't be back until the shortening leaves.
(3)Michael G.
I have come to this bakery for 25 years. They have the most creative offerings coupled with the highest of quality ingredients. The employees are ALWAYS trained up to offer SUPERIOR SERVICE. It's impressive. They offer great breakfast and lunch options, as well as everything else you would ever want in a true Italian bakery. What does that mean? You get the classics along with some newer ideas. They don't just throw trendy cupcakes at you! I cannot stress enough how good the service is. And most of the employees are teenage. To all of the bad businesses who blame cheap labor as part of their foil, try again. La Salle Bakery found a way to motivate employees to be great. Go visit and copy it. I want, DEARLY, to give them a 5-Star rating. But hey are currently committing the most egregious of modern coffee/pastry shop crimes. NO WI-FI! Wait. What? NO WI-FI! There is seating aplenty. The environment is bright and spacious, inviting you to do some work and maybe order a second cannoli. But the lack of Wi-Fi says, "We honor 1995 so much, we'd prefer you do your work at Starbucks or Nordstrom Cafe." A router and service costs $200 a month AT WORST! Until they address this severe inadequacy, 4-Stars is where it stays. C'mon La Salle Bakery. You're breaking my croissant.
(4)Don S.
Love this family owned bakery! Great croissants, danish, breads, and sandwiches. They also make one heck of a cake for your next party. Ask for real whipped cream frosting rather than the traditional sugary kind. It makes a big difference and doesn't really cost that much more.
(5)Hollie S.
After a couple of years at Rhode Island college I was getting really sick of the coffee and food at the college so I stopped at Lasalle bakery for a coffee. What I discovered was so much better than coffee. LaSalle bakery has the best of everything! The coffee is great, the raspberry iced tea is fabulous. The pastries are phenomenal, particularly the pumpkin cheesecake and triple chocolate ganache. The food is delicious! Most amazing whole wheat pizza, spinach pie, and chicken and escarole soup. All of this paired with the quick, friendly, and helpful service makes this place deserving of 5 stars!
(5)R. R.
The names speaks for itself. Lasalle bakery has a great reputation and with good reason. By far the best red velvet cake/cupcake I have ever had. Nothing compares! I try red velvet wherever I find it and it never lives up to Lasalle's. The carrot cake/cupcake is a close second to the red velvet. Cannolis are also delicious, along with the mini pastries and muffins. I have never had anything that I did not like here.
(4)Saadet A.
Omg! Pumpkin yogurt muffin with chocolate and nuts=heaven. Tastes like a cupcake, and paired with a banana hazelnut ice coffee is the perfect treat for a quick snack. Yum! The service is quick and everyone's super friendly
(5)Mari B.
Been a few times now ~ the staff is friendly, the coffee is good and the pastries are yummy. I purchased the red velvet cake for a graduation party and it was a complete hit!

I know I know...People love Seven Stars. But sometimes, Seven Stars feels pretentious, over-priced, and overrated. One of my fave go-to bakeries here in PVD is LaSalle's. While I don't LOVE everything LaSalle sells, they're a damn fine bakery! They're cheaper than Seven Stars, and local, too. Try the muffins and croissants....the best! My first impression of this place was, "This is a tidy store-front and well-mannered staff! And everything looks so tempting!" My boyfriend and I ended up going a little crazy and ordering $20 worth of food....for our "dessert". We bought a roll, an iced coffee, a cupcake, an almond croissant, a banana chocolate muffin, a pizza stick, and a calzone. On a later visit, we tried their macaroon and brownie. LaSalle's best items are their pastries---specifically the muffin and croissant. Just as good as Seven Stars and cheaper! The muffin had a strong, pleasant banana taste (banana extract?) and was rich and moist like the desserty breakfast it should be! The croissant was on point, too. Honorable mention goes to: LaSalle cake. The cake at LaSalle's is so spongey! It's like a wonderful cross between regular cake and sponge cake. I quite love it! However, their frosting isn't as great. Items not so great: a brownie that tasted fudgey but not super chocolatey, a calzone that was plain-tasting (Mike's on Thayer is better!), and macaroon (large portion for 2.50 but again, plain-tasting!)
(4)Jerica R.
Friendly employees at this location and the admiral st. location. Good variety of pastries, desserts, sandwiches, calzones, etc... All are delicious!!!
(5)Cassy D.
LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS PLACE. I think I have had everything in the case at least once. My mom often asks me now to get get bread if I'm coming home for a meal because their bread is so good. The staff is also awesome. They are friendly and seem to have a good time at work. I recommend lasalle to anyone visiting providence.
(5)Prachie J.
Hey, this place is awesome! We stopped by for lunch and coffee and had no idea how perfect this place would be for that. Their signature sandwiches are great, fresh vegetables, great cold cuts, good bread. In a moment of weakness/confusion, I also ordered steak and cheese calzone which was good but not really on the same level as the rest, but that's just because calzone's are never really that good, or as good as we want them to be. I'm not sure what I was thinking with that one, probably just distracted by the endless cold winter and looking for something warm. Anyway, they have cute little artisanal pizza's all around the store and they look AMAZING. And their cakes look amazing too. And they have like 5 types of cannolis. The space is clean, warm, inviting, much more spacious than I would have expected, and they played 80s and 90s music which just made it feel friendly and laid back. And the service was excellent. Will definitely be going back to try more things!
(4)Stephanie D.
I love this place! Always a great way to start my day. The staff he is always so friendly and welcoming. Quick to recommend something for you new to try. I usually come here for breakfast but decided to get a lunch sandwich this time. I chose the Chicken, Bacon, Ranch pocket, warmed to go. One bite in and I was in love. It was so yummy! The chicken was cooked to perfection, "smothered" in ranch, although it was not too much-which was good, and thin slices of bacon. Highly recommended.

WHY have I not known about LaSalle Bakery?? I was driving by on my way home to Providence from a meeting in CT and stumbled upon this treasure trove bakery. Providence has a number of fabulous bakeries--Seven Stars and Olga's would be sufficient for me. But LaSalle has a more "neighborhood bakery" feel with amazing PIES and reasonable prices. Their sandwiches are insanely fresh on wondrously crispy bread, and they sell savory POT PIES!!! A stable spot for my pie fix is exactly what I have been looking for in Providence. LaSalle has got my attention, and I definitely need to return regularly to check out some other items on their menu.
(4)Kris D.
My neighborhood bakery. I am spoiled to have LaSalle Bakery within walking distance. If I need fresh bread for dinner or if I am making calzones or pizza with the ready dough, i'm set! Several times a week I find myself grabbing a coffee or chai! Oh the pumpkin chai is out of the world! Friendly & good service every time. The red velvet cake is a favorite. Buttery croissants filled or not is always a good decision. We love LaSalle Bakery so much we even had our wedding cake made here. They take such care in listening to what you want & help you design the perfect cake. What's not to love from LaSalle Bakery!
(5)Ronaldo D.
They bake the best italian bread in Rhode Island.... There pastry, pizza and calzones are very good too... Try to get there weekly... The staff is very good, one time I went there while walking with a cane ,they took my bags to the car ....
(5)Mckenzie G.
What I love about this place are the counters that look out onto the street. It's not that the view is especially beautiful, but it means that in the afternoon the sun streams in and feels wonderful, especially on cold winter days. The tea is in a form of the basic tea bags - I prefer loose leaf, but the selection of pastries looks yummy (I have been good enough to resist till this point), so their status might go up after I try them out.
(2)Neil B.
My nephew and his wife brought an assortment of LaSalle baked goods over to my mom's today. OMG were they good...all of them. Will need to stop in at the bakery next time I am in RI and determine if maybe a 5 star rating is in order!
(4)Nancy A.
LaSalle Bakery is by far, the best bakery in the state! Great bread and great pastry, all the rest is just extra. You may pay a little more but you get what you pay for. They have the best chocolate eclairs I've ever eaten, they don't skimp on the chocolate frosting and they pastry shell is fresh actually has flavor, unlike most eclair pastry. The staff is excellent as well. Top of the line!

I needed a little midday pick me up and wandered on in to LaSalle Bakery figuring that I could do some one-stop shopping: get some food, get some caffeine, and get a sweet treat for later. Done, done, and done. My food: an eggplant parm calzone. As I had plans to eat it there, the employee was nice enough to offer to heat it up for me in the back. It came out only semi-warm, but I appreciated his gesture. It was very tough to eat with a paltry plastic fork (and I couldn't even find a knife). I went to grab some napkins, which they were out of, and after asking for some, I finally resorted to picking up the calzone to eat with my hands. I mean, it's a bakery and that is what one does with most bakery items anyway, right? My caffeine: a small hazelnut iced coffee. The employee and I had some confusion over whether I was ordering one or two coffees ("Was it Hazelnut? And Hazelnut chocolate? Just the one? With cream and sugar?"). Fortunately, that all got straightened out. The hazelnut was good, and I am sure that hazelnut chocolate also would have been good had I also received it. My sweet treat for later: an almond croissant. Massively sized so it actually ended up being two sweet treats. It was great, although I like anything with almond. Perfect flaky crust though, so thumbs up for that. Was it a perfect service experience? No, but it was well-intentioned and the product was great. There were a lot of customers coming in and out so they clearly do some solid business. Hooray for the window counter and an even bigger hooray for the outside tables come the spring and summer.

Mmm. Both LaSalle Bakery's are within a 1 mile radius of my home. This particular LaSalle Bakery on Smith Street is more within walking distance to my home, but you'll never catch me walking to get a cupcake, ever. I must drive by this place at least a dozen times a week. Every single time, the wheel of my car seems to want to veer off to either the left or the right (depending on which direction of travel I'm going) and stop into this confectionary sugar land to indulge myself in a tasty little treat. The logical side of my brain reasons with the fat side of myself and says... "Danielle, eat another cupcake and you'll be so morbidly obese, you'll need a wheelchair to get around." LaSalle offers the most delicious pastries, cakes, cheesecakes, cookies, pies, breads, cupcakes, deli foods and breakfast foods you could ever imagine. Everything is consistently fresh. Upon entering this place, the waft of yumminess will lighten your spirit instantly.
(4)Jackie B.
LaSalle is very convenient to me as it's within walking distance so I go often but it's not because it's anything special. The coffee is meh, I've had it a few times where either it was burned or just really bitter, requiring a ton more sugar than what I normally use anywhere else. The sandwiches and calzones are nice and they will heat it up for you, but I like their little tiny chicken pot pies best I think and for $3 you can't go wrong. The desserts are really hit or miss - the cheesecakes are always a winner and the muffins and cupcakes have been good, but I've had several other things over the years that were not up to par at all, and some I just couldn't finish. Their key lime pie comes to mind - it had a little slice of lime on top which is how I knew it was supposed to be key lime pie (aside from the name tag) but it was half creamy topping that was just way too much, and there was not even a hint of lime in the pie... it was like a vanilla pie with cream, I guess. The customer service is good though, the coffee and pastries are hit or miss, but the sandwiches are always fresh and they have a nice selection.

Pumpkin yogurt muffins Are a great way to start your day
(5)Jon A.
Love their consistent good service and great food. Their cakes are second to none (though a bit pricey). The only thing I've tried and didn't like were their cookies which did not taste all that great.
(4)Mark A.
After reading an article featuring the best places in the US to go for Pizza, I saw that LaSalle Bakery got a mention for their RI pizza strips and calzones under Providence #2 ranking. Though I am bias towards Colvitto's pizza strips since live in South County, LaSalle was definitely worth the trip. I had the spinach and feta croissant, a meatball calzone, and a red center strip. Everything tasted fresh, as it should for a bakery that is busy. I liked that the dough tasted fresh baked and not overly processed. The croissant was airy and the spinach was not bland at all. Like many bakeries in RI everything on the menu is surprisingly affordable, making it a great option for lunch. Though I am not a big fan of pastries or dessert items, LaSalle has a large offering of Italian classics with Zepoles being a popular item. Overall, I recommend this place as a must-go when in Providence.
(4)Kameron S.
I love that this bakery is right around the corner from my house. When it is nice out we walk there, and during the winter it is a 1 minute drive. It is a weekend ritual for us. Their pastries are delicious and I love the chocolate hazelnut iced coffee. They have great savory items too with spinach and meatball cal zones, soup and pork pies!
(5)Meaghan K.
Oh LaSalle. Amazing baked goods and I just recently tried your chai and that was lovely as well. I needed a dozen or so muffins and I called in to order them to insure a good selection and they were super helpful. They also were smart to ask if there were any allergy's to take into consideration which was nice of them.
(5)Nicole E.
We went here to try some sweets on a Sunday afternoon and were disappointed. I got a red velvet cupcake with what I suspect was cream cheese frosting and had a large rose on top with green leaves. They should have stopped at the cream cheese frosting. It looked like something you would get at a grocery store bakery. It was good, but nothing special. I would have chose something else, but nothing really stood out. My husband got a chocolate mousse tower which he enjoyed, but again nothing special. We got a peanut butter m&m cookie to go which was somewhat tasteless and over cooked. We had originally hoped to get slices of cake, but as far as we could tell you had to buy the whole cake. I probably would not go back. Not worth the price.
(3)Mark G.
For three years I drove past this bakery on my way to grad classes, salivated all over myself, but chose instead to go to the Dunkin' Donuts next door (I know, I know...but I'm a creature of habit) because I was always short on time. Finally, I swung by with my family and we split some treats. I would highly recommend the Red Velvet cupcakes which are the size of softballs and have chocolate chips and a frosting "rose" adorning the top. My kids couldn't even finish theirs so I happily obliged. I had the Lobster Tail pastry, and it was like eating I gigantic harvest horn filled with the sweetest cream filling of all time. I had to finish it off later in the day because I felt like a crack addict digging into this thing. The carrot cake was pretty awesome too. The regular coffee was just so-so, but I arrived today and picked up some iced Banana Hazlenut and it tasted like Zeus himself was pouring sweet ambrosia down my caffeine hole. This stuff was amazing. I also got the nut brownie, a regular cupcake for my son, who ate it in 3.2 seconds. My daughters SPLIT a red velvet cake because they are bleeping humongous (the cupcakes, not my daughters). Sure as hell will NOT be stopping at Dunkies anymore. Some reviews are correct...their pastries are exceptionally sweet...but isn't that the point? I look forward to trying their savory stuff.
(4)Amy Lynn B.
The Smith Street LaSalle has been an important part of my life since I moved to the neighborhood in 2002. Beyond the glorious selection of baked goods, it's a great place to take meetings or grab a chai on the go. I eat the Harvest Bread toasted for breakfast whenever it's in season. Best choices: all the breads, croissants, European Danish, neiman marcus cookies, sugar cookies, cakes, pies, and cheesecakes. I also enjoy their crazy veggie pizza for a cheap lunch--piles of spinach and other veg, sauce, and cheese. My dad is a fan of the ham & cheese croissant. Nevermind: the muffins are too sweet for my taste and the lemon squares are on flaky pastry dough rather than shortbread. There aren't any vegetarian choices among the ready-made sandwiches, so I can't speak to these. They're conveniently open until 7 or 8 most evenings, but avoid the place when nearby Kennedy Elementary and LaSalle Academy are starting or ending the school day--it gets really jammed.

I recently stopped in here to meet a client at his suggestion. After reading reviews on Yelp, I decided that the yogurt pumpkin muffin was the best choice. So I opted for this and also ordered a large coconut iced coffee. Both were delicious. The muffin was light and moist, packed with a ton of flavor. It was not your typical muffin as it was a little flat, but it worked very nicely. On my way out I grabbed two Elvis cupcakes and two eclairs. The cupcakes were chocolate cake, filled with peanut butter and of course, topped with a banana butter cream frosting. The frosting was delicious, but the filling tasted like straight peanut butter to me and should have been lighter and possibly sweeter. The eclairs were very good, both filled with Boston cream and iced with a light chocolate frosting that was excellent. I'm deducting one star for the lack of apparent restrooms (maybe I missed it if there was one) and dirtiness of the counters facing the windows which had newspapers strewn all over the place and crumbs from other people. Prices are pretty expensive - 5 dollars for a Lobster Tail, 4 dollars for a piece of cheesecake, but you are getting good quality. The staff was pretty nice and polite. This is a nice little place and if I'm in the area I will stop in again to check out more of their offerings.
(4)Ted D.
Been coming here (Smith St.) since 1975, an absolute treasure. The Italian bread & rolls are great, the cakes are awesome and my absolute favorite chocolate chip cookies anywhere (nice and big and the right combination of crisp exterior and chewy interior). My daughter loves the eclairs and we have had the fruit torte a number of times at holiday dinner or dinner parties. If you've never been here, you are missing out.
(4)Sherri C.
LaSalle Bakery used to be my snack stop when I was a student at Providence College. My favorite is their European danish-it is buttery, sweet, fruity and utterly delicious! It is the perfect breakfast pick me up. If I'm craving something of more substance I tend to get one of their calzones. Their chicken parm calzone is out of this world as it is stuffed to the brim with chicken! Now that I'm a working stiff I don't have the time to stop by as often as I use to but I still make it a point to get a treat once in a while.
(4)Julia S.
This is my go to place for coffee. I live right down the street so I go here almost daily. They have a lot of good flavored hot and iced coffee. I love dark roast coffee so I usually get their Italian roast and it is very good. The only two pastries I have tried are the egg biscuit and the almond cresent. Both are very good!
(4)John H.
Possibly the best bakery in New England. So much to choose from! Freshly baked bread/rolls, pizza, calzones, cakes, and an infinite number of pastries. Don't forget the zeppoles when they're in season! If you haven't tried it yet, you haven't lived!
(5)Victor S.
Ate here for the first time today and now I'm looking forward to becoming a regular ...staff had great customer service skills and the food was wonderful :D
(5)Lee T.
LaSalle Bakery is a Rhode Island staple, or at least a staple for those of us who live near and in the city. Anything you order here is amazing, but my favorite are the ginormous red velvet cupcakes. I am a cupcake connoisseur of sorts and even cupcake shops in Boston, New York, Newport, etc, have never come close to the quality of LaSalle Bakery red velvet cupcakes. I have actually given up on ordering red velvet cupcakes anywhere but LaSalle Bakery because nobody can top them! While the things tend to be on the pricier side compared to the average bakery, it's worth the extra money. Another favorite of mine are the macaroons. Yum!
(5)Kat F.
I've been coming here since I was a kid, and during my long absences from RI I've found myself daydreaming of their cupcakes, nut brownies, pizza strips and chicken salad sandwiches. Very nice staff and the food is always fresh and sometimes even still warm from the oven.
(5)Heather B.
LaSalle Bakery is the best in Rhode Island. Both locations are clean, beautifully decorated and smell heavenly! Some favorites of our family: pepperoni and cheese breadsticks, chocolate chip cookies, almond crescents, red velvet cupcakes and their original chocolate brownies with nuts. You have to experience it!
(5)Lisa O.
I was on a hunt for sugar cookies that took me to 3 bakeries and ended at LaSalle. Thank you LaSalle for remembering those who do not like chocolate. I've heard good things, but this was my first try at this local bakery. They definitely have the largest variety of any bakery in town. Lunch? They've got you covered. Breakfast? Covered. Dessert? Covered. If you can't find it here, it likely cannot be found in a Providence bakery. I was overcome with choices and had to pick up more than sugar cookies. Everything I tried was delicious, packed with care, and fresh. I do think the cookies are a bit overpriced, but their custard pies are the cheapest in the neighborhood. The bakery itself has a good amount of seating, whether you are grabbing lunch with a friend or enjoying a coffee and reading the paper. It is clean, updated, and soon to be my go to bakery.

Today was my first time at LaSalle Bakery and it most definitely won't be my last! Upon my arrival I saw a sign that read, "Free Iced Coffee with any purchase on June 21st, first day of summer!" First of all, I didn't know today was June 21st. Second of all, I didn't know it was the first day of summer. And third of all, I'm glad I chose LaSalle bakery on this day! I looked around at the cases and saw every kind of baked good I could imagine. From bakery pizza, to eclairs and cakes, to biscotti and more! I was having a hard time deciding! I was the only person in line at the time, but when I went back a woman was in line. I said excuse me while I went behind her. She exclaimed, "Are you kidding me! Go ahead! You were first! I've been coming here for years and forget there's even a line!" Now, I'm from Michigan. People are almost always nice, but since I've lived in Rhode Island I've become accustomed to rude people here and there. Today was like I was home. Even though it was a small gesture, it felt good to know there are still nice people! Anyway--when I was asked what I would like I chose the Almond Croissant. It's huge! For my iced coffee I chose vanilla almond. While he was making my iced coffee, I was asked if I was all set by three different workers. It was nice to know I'd be taken care of no matter what. I love local businesses that actually care about their customers and whether or not they're taken care of! And by the way--my croissant is AMAZING. The free coffee is just the cherry on top :) All for $2.99 plus tip!

This is by far my favorite local bakery to go to. Getting to this bakery however is no easy feat. The traffic in and out of downtown Providence is busy to say the least and parking is tough. They have a little private lot across the way that can fit about 6-8 cars if off the street parking is not feasible. But it's all worth it once you get into the place. The bakery is always clean and well-lit with gold and green decor. They usually seem to have about 4-5 staff ready at the counter to take your order. The staff are always very patient, pleasant and friendly. They have ready-made and custom-ordered cakes for whatever occasion. They even have miniature versions of the cakes for a little sweet treat to accompany your coffee! There are many different flavored coffees to go with whatever you are up for. With great deals like $0.99 Iced coffee Wednesday during the summer months and $1 iced coffees if you buy and bring in their large LaSalle Bakery tumbler! The good calzones are pretty much gone by the afternoon, so if you are craving a calzone you might have better luck stopping by in the morning. It's a great place to grab a quick treat or to stop and chat with a friend for a bit.

Five stars, three reasons. 1. Everything these people touch turns to gold. And I'd know. I was addicted to their pumpkin yogurt muffins years ago and now I stick with blueberry as my methadone. They nail it ALL. Sandwiches, spinach pies, cookies, cakes, pumpkin yogurt muffins, croissants, cupcakes, pumpkin yogurt muffins, brownies, zeppoles, irish soda bread, an array of assorted iced and regular coffees, pumpkin yogurt muffins... 2. Service is great. Perky cashiers who treat everyone with respect is the hallmark of this place. They've also respected my bizarre requests: I need a dozen cupcakes that look like tennis balls...in an hour? Done and done. 3. Here's the best part: this place is toted as a bakery, but it also serves a great little role as a coffehouse. And on days where you have to shank someone to get a table at Starbucks, come here (and get a pumpkin yogurt muffin) to get some work done. The Smith Street location is better for al fresco dining/pumpkin-yogurt-muffining, but both offer outdoor seating. Boom.

LaSalle has awesome baked goods, great coffee, and a great atmosphere. Only problem is there are no public rest rooms. Just as an FYI.
(5)Emily R.
We stopped here with friends who are familiar with the area. What a great local bakery. We can't get bakeries like this in Connecticut to pop in for dessert. We had a chocolate dipped canoli and the triple chocolate ganache cake. To DIE for!
(4)Jennifer D.
Believe the hype! Coffee was awesome, cannoli was awesome, and tiramisu was awesome. What a little gem of a place! Go!
(5)Kat A.
Fresh pastries - always delicious. Banana chocolate chip muffin is out of this world. Staff is pleasant and nice. Would highly recommend to anyone!
(5)L B.
The best bakery in Providence hands down. They even won an award! Great friendly staff. Birthday cakes are yummy and affordable.
(5)Jesse S.
Best spinach pie on planet earth. This is fact, not opinion.
(5)Jessica S.
Very good pastries. I used to come here often for the cannoli and other stuff when my friend lived nearby. I wish they would fresh fill the cannoli though instead of leaving them sitting in the case. coffee was not good. nice staff

I am very lucky to live in the neighborhood right next to both Lasalle locations. They are my go to for coffee and a pastry on the go. Honesty when I first visited, I thought there was no way that this place could make the variety of products they do and do them well. I was also in culinary school at the time and extremely critical and picky. I am happy to retract that thought and say the more things I try the more I like them. I am a particularly huge fan of their spinach and feta croissant...so flaky and buttery! I also enjoy their almond croissant and egg biscuits. Oh but I almost forgot the love of my life...when I am in need of an extra special treat, I order their HUGE red velvet cupcakes. Definitely give them a try!

How can you not love LaSalle? It's the classic Italian bakery in the classic Italian neightborhood. Cannoli? They got 'em. Zeppoli? Of course. In addition to carrying the quintessential Italian sweets, they've perfected modern confections and make scrumptious cupcakes, fruit tarts and chocolate eclairs that rank above the very best in Providence, if not Rhode Island. Another thing I love about LaSalle? They they go beyond just sweet baked goods and make fabulous lunch items, too. Panini, subs, calzone, pizza... They even make breakfast sandwiches on decent bagels for you to get your protein in the a.m. along with a cup of their excellent espresso (which can be frothed into a beautiful milky foam as either a cappuccino or cafe late). They serve great regular coffee, too and you can add a flavor shot, if you like that sort of thing. My favorite thing to do? Grab a classic Italian pastry and a hot latte, and stroll the square like you would do in Italy. You'll swear you're really there, if only for a brief moment.

How does one review LaSalle Bakery? It has everything you would expect in a bakery and more. They have pastries, cakes, drinks, sandwiches, and a great staff. I've never gone in and a problem with a staff member, in fact they are very friendly and playful.
(5)Nikki B.
This establishment is the not only the best place to get coffee and treats, but they are the most community centered place I know! The staff are all pleasant and appear genuinely happy to be there. The flavors of coffee are diverse--I love the banana hazelnut! The area to sit and hang out is quaint and clean. Get a homemade dog biscuit on your way out for your pet! My favorite treats are the enormous moist muffins (banana choc chip), and the walnut twist (I hate walnuts and it's still amazing).
(5)William K.
It doesn't get much better than this if you are looking for a great Italian bakery. They have everything you would expect from a standard bakery. All the coffee, expresso, latte, teas, etc... pastries, calzones, panini's. The thing that made me find this place was lobster tails. If you haven't had one, you need to. This place is a treat.

My previous review does not adequately convey how awesome LaSalle Bakery is. The service at LaSalle is unparalleled. The cashiers and people working at the counter are hardworking, friendly, and extremely competent. There are always enough people working in the bakery so, even if lines are long, they move quickly. I love the customer rewards card and 99 cent iced coffees on Wednesday (summer only) are a great deal. Some of my favorites: - Chicken pot pies. These are perfectly-sized for lunch or a light dinner and are fairly reasonable ($4). Consistently good with a good mix of veggies and chicken. Perfect for when you are sick. -Calzones. Great lunches. Love the meatball calzone. Prices range but are reasonable. -Sandwiches. I don't usually like premade sandwiches, but you can tell these sandwiches are fresh. They are a bit pricey ($7), but they are a good size. I often eat half for lunch and then save the rest for the following day. -Brownies. Bad day? Get a brownie. Just do it. You'll thank me later. -Red Velvet Cupcake. Best red velvet cupcake I've ever had. Enough said. -Chocolate cake. I brought a chocolate cake with chocolate frosting to my grandparents' house and my entire family still talks about it! The frosting is not too sweet and very light. -Muffins. The muffins are consistently delicious and very reasonably priced ($2). The yogurt pumpkin and morning glory muffins are my favorites. -Danishes. The raspberry danish is a bit on the sweet side, but I really like the cheese danish. -Egg sandwiches. The quality of these is not as consistent as other items, but the egg and cheese is a go-to. Some things I stay away from: Bagels. If you are looking for a New York bagel, LaSalle is not the place to get one. Their plain bagels lack flavor. Chocolate chip cookies. Their chocolate chip cookies are also very dry. Hot chocolate. I'm pretty sure it's Swiss Miss with some whipped cream--definitely nothing special.

I LOVE LaSalle! This is their busier location since it's right near LaSalle Academy and RIC, but they've gotten better at crowd management over the years. I hadn't stopped in for awhile, but when I did the other day I was impressed. They finally have roping so that people stay in line and are helped in the order they come in. There were so many days when I used to come here that I would have to fight through the angry mob to get to the bakery counter. The new setup is much appreciated. Their chais are mad good, and they have a ton of flavors that they can do hot or iced. My favorites are the pumpkin and the vanilla. They also have really good coffee. This is THE PLACE to get cannolis. They make the best pistachio ones. Those are my favorite, and most other places don't do them quite right. One time I came in with my boyfriend and they were having an oh-so-dangerous cannoli sale. We ended up with two boxes full and pretty much wiped the place out. I swear they weren't just for us! We were trying to spread the deliciousness at work. When I came in the other day, I noticed a few new things. Kale pies!? I had to give it a try. It was surprisingly delicious. It was much like a spinach pie, except better because I love kale. And they make it in a whole wheat pocket. It was just the right amount of food for breakfast. LaSalle makes awesome soup too. Make sure you grab some from the fridge. I could rave about this place for days. Everything is so good and the service is always top notch. Please just go! Go right now!

Today I had a bacon egg and cheese on soft bread. The bread was literally mouth watering.

Now that yelp creates a tally of all the places I check into on my homepage I realize that I have a bunch of 5 star places I have ventured to over the summer and have yet to write a review. (I'm busy alright?!) Some of my local favorites suggested I try this local favorite. Especially their local favorite. Situated in a place where you might not expect there to be a bakery but there is, LaSalle is probably the life of the block. You'll see cars parking up on the street so that people can get their morning, afternoon and evening fill of pastries and beyond. Across the street is their assigned parking lot. Luckily most people get what they want and dash so there is constantly available parking. Walk inside and it's already smelling of fresh bread. Kinda like walking into a French bakery in Paris, you know you're up for some tasty goodness. Their display cases are situated in an L shaped pattern. Cakes to the left and pastries/sandwiches to the right. You have to try their Local Favorite sandwich. By lunchtime they are GONE it's that good. Ask for everything on it and it really should be toasted. Their muffins are to die for. Almond croissants... well not quite as good as Paris (too flakey and crunchy... needs more butter). Eclairs are chunky and cream filled and fruit tarts are epic. Their dog bones are the cat's pajamas and my pups love them. I don't understand how the packaged bones cost more than the bones individually, however...

Finally able to review this place! It has been book marked for over a year and I've just not had the time to check it out for myself. Well until today. The bakery itself is very refreshing inside and better looking than most bakeries. The cases were filled with so many delicious looking goodies , it was hard to pick. I asked one of the servers ( who was super nice) and he suggested I get the red velvet cupcake-one of the more popular desserts. They are not wrong. First off this cupcake is huge, three times bigger than the average. The shining jewel here was the cream cheese frosting. Not too sweet but just right and it paired perfectly with the moist cake. Highly recommmend. I also purchased a sugar cookie with the colored sprinkles/ sugar on it , which was also very pleasant! So in the end , I thought this was a amazing treat to have! Not only were the pastries so beautifully decorated , but were also so delicious!
(5)Sarah C.
I'm a regular at the one on Admiral Street and this one is just as great. All of their pastries are fabulous, bread is great, their chicken escarole soup is to die for, and their staff couldn't be nicer.
(5)Margaret G.
Love LaSalle. I miss living down the street from it. Cute little place to grab a treat or breakfast. I really like their breakfast sandwiches. Love their pastries. Clean space with lots of little tables to sit at. It can get hectic sometimes but that just goes to show that people love this place.
(5)Elizabeth D.
We have been coming here at least once a week since we moved to the neighborhood a couple years ago. I always walk out of there with a smile on my face. The workers are so friendly and hardworking, they are a joy to watch and interact with. The "real" food is consistently great and the sweets are amazing. Also doesn't hurt that their chocolate hazelnut iced coffee is one of my favorite things on the planet. Love LaSalle.

(5)Michael G.
(4)Xiao Z.

Had dinner tonight there with my daughter and the food really good . The pastries, cakes and cookies are yummy. The price for the goods is fair and the staff is always supper nice. repeat customer over many.... yummy A+

(5)Colleen C.

(5)Robert S.

I love it here their pastries are delicious. I love their Italian grinder. Great flavored ice coffee as well. The party pizza is the best around!

It's huge! Love this family owned bakery! Great croissants, danish, breads, and sandwiches. They also make one heck of a cake for your next party. Ask for real whipped cream frosting rather than the traditional sugary kind. It makes a big difference and doesn't really cost that much more.

(4)Liz T.
(2)Nancy A.

Oh LaSalle. Amazing baked goods and I just recently tried your chai and that was lovely as well. I needed a dozen or so muffins and I called in to order them to insure a good selection and they were super helpful. They also were smart to ask if there were any allergy's to take into consideration which was nice of them.
(5)Neil B.
My nephew and his wife brought an assortment of LaSalle baked goods over to my mom's today. OMG were they good...all of them. Will need to stop in at the bakery next time I am in RI and determine if maybe a 5 star rating is in order!

Love their consistent good service and great food. Their cakes are second to none (though a bit pricey). The only thing I've tried and didn't like were their cookies which did not taste all that great.

(4)Brittany R.
Everytime I drive by it my tummy flutters....yum...time for an eclair
(4)Nicole E.
(3)Jessica S.
Very good pastries. I used to come here often for the cannoli and other stuff when my friend lived nearby. I wish they would fresh fill the cannoli though instead of leaving them sitting in the case. coffee was not good. nice staff

(2)G S.
(5)Stephanie D.

(5)Heather V.
How does one review LaSalle Bakery? It has everything you would expect in a bakery and more. They have pastries, cakes, drinks, sandwiches, and a great staff. I've never gone in and a problem with a staff member, in fact they are very friendly and playful.

(5)Lauren M.

(5)Sydney K.
Today I had a bacon egg and cheese on soft bread. The bread was literally mouth watering.
