Just returned from my first visit to Hope Street Pizza, and my boyfriend and I looked to Yelp to help us decide what to have here. We ordered half-Greek/half-pepperoni pizza and a small fry. Hilary and Kate, you nailed the french fries. Hot out of the frialator, crispy on the outside, mealy on the inside. Burn-the-roof-of-your-mouth-because-you-can't-stop-eating-them-no-matter-how-hot-they-are good. We looked at our small, like "Whoa!" and then dug in. It was good that we got these early, because the pizza took a while. The vibe was so chill and relaxed and warm and friendly. A nice mix between watering-hole and pizza joint. Just a bunch of locals chilling at the bar, families eating dinner, sounds of a bustling kitchen, Sports Center on mute. Our waitress was a sweetheart. She was an older lady, the chatty but not-too-chatty type, and she looked like she knew everyone. She called me kiddo. No one calls me kiddo anymore except for my Mom! I definitely felt like I was a guest in someone's home. When the pizza finally came, both sides were done to perfection, despite the serious discrepancy between the two halves' topping volumes. I do have to say I was disappointed with the crust. The texture was almost right for a crackery crust, but the flavor was a little bland. It almost seemed pre-made. I wish I could give this place 3.5, but it will have to get three. It's definitely not a four-star joint, no matter how chillaxed the dining room is, how many awesome beers they have on tap, and how sweet the waitress was. I'm not going to dump too hard on the pizza, but it was just okay. The fries were the best part of the meal. Now we have a small feast for later tonight, and a knowledge of Hope Street Pizza to help us make a food decision if we're ever in a bind.

The place was very old inside. Tables were unstable and uneven. Fries were not the best fries ever! Pizza was good with a nice thin crispy crust. This is my first time using yelp to find good pizza and next time I'll read more reviews before picking a restaurant. I was not blown away as many said in their reviews

How shall I put this... Hope St Pizza certainly isn't my favorite joint in the 'hood, but when you're looking for something easy and nothing fancy (and cheap), this place will do. It'll do just fine. The highlight? Their french fries (drooooooool). They're that extra crispy kind that has the batter-like crust on them. Oh, man, are they delicious. It's worth going for these alone, kids. They also make a good burger - fresh and tasty - and a decent Greek-style pizza. They also have pretty good subs - nothing fancy, again, but tasty. The waitress is always very friendly, if a little slow. I can see this being a great place to come watch the game or grab pizza with kids. Not bad, kids. Not bad at all.

My husband and our baby went there earlier today. It was pretty empty so we sat at the main room, so not to bother anyone with a loud 8 month old. We ordered the hope St Pizza and the calamari. The pizza was really good but the latter a bit dry. This is no fine dining experience by any means, but a friendly local family joint. They were very accommodating of our little guy. We also spilled a delicious Pumpkin brew, and our waitress kindly poured us another one, free of charge. That's what I call a good customer service.

A great spot for beers and yummy food! The calzones are my favorite, and the small is big enough to save half for lunch the next day. The service is always good when I go in there, the people are friendly. Its a nice local spot.

While planning a visit to RI from FL. Purchased a Groupon for Hope Street Pizza and was not disappointed. Excellent food and great service. The young lady who served up was very pleasant. We had baked ziti and spaghetti with sausage. Also took home a couple of pizzas. Really enjoyed the food and the pizza was delicious. Will definitely stop by again when I am in town.

Perfect example of a good not great restaurant. Interior is a little odd as you wander through the maze of a take out shop and then into a restaurant. The restaurant area is nice as many have said, good place to watch a game. The food is mediocre. Not saying it is terrible but it is what it is, a pizza joint. That being said, portions are nice and large, odd that with large sandwiches there are no sides (figure you are paying for it...but oh well). I have to be honest folks, if you are in the mood for comfort food, there are plenty of places on Hope St. that do it better (aka Ivy Tavern, Blaze, etc.) However, on a friday or saturday night and those places are packed, you won't get terrible food at Hope St. Pizza.

  • Brent R.

The place filled up over a couple of hours. I easily got a table at 6:30pm, and by 8pm there were people waiting. Not too bad for a Friday night! Tall G&Ts were only $7.50 or so. Lamb burger was tasty-ish. Onion rings were awesome. Service was adequate.

I feel the need to update my review. Maybe I was in a bad mood when I wrote my first one. Things I like: Saki the owner is very personable and genuine. You can tell he appreciates your business and always wants feedback. The pizza. It's thicker crust greek style pizza and I love it. I always order it well done because I like a little crunch on the outside. The fries. Awesome, seriously addicting. They are like candy coated or something. Chicken Souvlaki salad. Huge and delicious. Good beer selection. Loose Cannon on tap. Good place to watch sports. Service has been good lately. Temperature. In the summer they are not afraid to blast the AC. Same goes for heat in winter. They don't skimp!

Service and decor were good the night we dined there (Nov 1). We tried the spicy calamari which was ok. My friend just loves the pizza here and enjoyed his thoroughly enough to eat it cold the next day. I on the other hand did not like the pizza that much. However, I'm from out of town so it might be some sort of local taste. Apparently I've dined here before and just don't remember it (which is a good thing). Overall enjoyed it, but can't quite give a 4 star rating.

I have been going to Hope St. Pizza for at least 12 years now as it is close to where I live. It's my go-to place take-out place because they basically have everything I could ever crave for super cheap. There really isn't a bad thing on the menu, there are just some things that are much better than others. You can't go wrong getting any of the greek food (the Gyros and Greek Salad are my favorite) because it is essentially a Greek restaurant. I also LOVE the french fries, definitely the best in Rhode Island. They are a bit crunchy on the outside, but soft on the inside. favorites include the buffalo chicken, the paninis, mozzerella sticks, bruschetta, and the grinders (on yummy fresh bread). Their pizza is also absolutely delicious. It doesn't look or taste like the average pizza though. It has think crunchy crust, with real cheese (you can taste the difference) and toppings. All the ingredients there are real, and you can taste it. When every I order take-out its always quick and ready within 15 minutes at the most. However when I do dine in the service can get a bit slow. But the waiters and waitresses are the friendliest people. The bar is a fun place to hang, especially when there is a big game on (watching Greece play in the world cup there was a great time, got to cheer on with the owner who is the NICEST). The restaurant can also be a bit noisy at times, but nothing louder than a typical bar restaurant. The people who own and work at this restaurant are just wonderful people and I love to support this wonderful neighborhood joint. It's the perfect place for a quick, tasty, and cheap bite to eat! Everyone should try this restaurant, its a great place to go to no matter what kind of taste you are craving.

Garden salad with grilled chicken for 15$! I mean c'mon! I can see if I ordered more than that, but wow I paid a lot for lettuce and 3 tiny strips of chicken!!!

This is a good place to take the kids, very family friendly. The pizza is decent but I prefer thin crust. The appeal of this place is more for the kids and family environment. It's an easy place to have family pizza night.

The pizza is actually pretty good. It's a traditional medium thickness greek style pie, so if that's you want they do it well. I've actually never had a problem with carry out. However, I've tried dining at the bar or sitting at the bar while waiting for a pizza. The bartender is possibly the rudest person I've ever met. I was shocked at the rudeness and attitude. No attempt to talk to customers, one word answers, never smiled and you literally have to ask for everything might want (beer, a menu, silverware, etc).

This is a simple place...lets make the review similar: - I just went for drinks so can't speak for the food, but it did look good - super cheap beers and lots to choose from - not the prettiest atmosphere but lots of people (mostly older men) adorned the bar - not a bad casual place if you're in the area and looking for a place to hang your hat

Ordering to go is your best option here. Call in, pick it up, and eat it in the comfort of your own home. Dining in is probably your worst life decision. Our last trip with friends was at about 8 pm on a Sunday night. It was pretty dead, and we were being served with who I think was the owner's wife (?) who was not very attentive at all. Whenever we would call for her attention she would listen to probably half of what we were asking for and then start casually walking (sauntering, really) away when we still were needing other things. Three people at our table ordered sodas. She brought out 3 bottles instead of serving us fountain sodas, which was odd. Two of the bottles were not even chilled, so we then had to ask for cooler bottles...but even those weren't completely cold so on top of that we needed to ask for ice and a glass. We had to point out that we didn't have utensils. She sauntered away and came back. Someone in our party ordered soup and salad. The salad came first with no dressing. Ordering here before I knew that you have a choice in dressing. Our server didn't ask what kind, and just came back with her choice. She almost also forgot to serve the soup. I got a glass of water and was sucking the ice cubes dry until I was able to flag her down for a refill. AND THIS WAS JUST ONE VISIT! There have been other times where we had sub par experiences. - A spinach pie where the spinach was still frozen (!!!). - A pizza that was completely different from what the person actually ordered. - A skunked draft beer. The ONLY reason why we go here is because of the fries. We have a friend who is a fry fiend and only likes to eat them piping hot. We essentially go there to accommodate him since he's our guest and it's close by. The food itself that we usually get to go is delicious. Gyros are melt in your mouth good and grinders really hit the spot. And, when cooked fully, the spinach pie is the mister's go-to dish.

There is absolutely nothing bad about Hope St. pizza. The food is great, the bar is full and the staff is awesome, clearly taking a sign from the fabulous owners. I can't say anything negative about this wonderful neighborhood restaurant.

This place could be great. The food is ok. The location is great and they could be THE place to go on Hope St, though that award still goes to Ivy Tavern next door. The pizza is ok - used to be better. The cheese is great and tasty but the crust tastes frozen. The greek salads are good - the specialty there. I used to go there a lot before noticing a trend where the female bartenders seemed to be more attentive to the guys than the girls. It kind of became and ongoing joke between my friends and I until after a while we just stopped going since it was so hard to get service. We once sat at the bar and ordered martinis and when the woman behind the bar (an older woman - the owner or owner's wife, I believe?) couldn't find the cap to the shaker, she licked her palm, placed it over the top of the shaker and went to town before pouring the martinis into two glasses and handing them to us. Come to think of it, this place really should get two stars...

The service is great. Very personable, so this review isn't based on that at all. It's the food. Got a spinach pie...Eight dollars. We're talking canned spinach on a GRINDER ROLL. Absolutely disgusting. My son was sick all day after eating here. Lesson learned.

So, I know I probably say this in every pizza review but I'm a spoiled pizza eater. Hope Street Pizza is down the block from my job so I stop in sometimes when I'm starving after work, but I never come across town on my day off. They don't sell slices of pizza, only pies. And they're overpriced for what they are. I've gotten several small (personal-ish) pizzas on different occasions and they always taste the same - like thin crust Dominoes. The crust is thin, but usually over cooked. Sauce is unremarkable and the sauce to cheese ratio is off. The cheese is usually pretty greasy, not delicious-greasy but nasty-greasy. Toppings are alright - not fresh but not so bad that I won't eat them. On the upside I never wait more than 5-10 minutes for a pie. So I'll probably be back but only because I don't always have the time to stop at someplace better. If you can, just go to Providence Pizza Company on Westminster.

One of my personal favorites around town, Hope Street Pizza has an enormous menu and the amount of food you get always matches up with what you paid for. Let me start of just by saying that the pizza is absolutely amazing, my current favorite out of any others I've tasted anywhere else. There's a reasonably thick, crunchy crust, enough to hold up your pizza but just that. Warm, oozy cheese matches up with the perfect layer of sauce for a somewhat oily but extremely delicious pie. There's also an immense selection of toppings to choose from, including their greek pizza, which is popular among some of my friends. There are costlier items, but you can get cheap eats; their Italian grinders are popular, and most of their grinders are under ten dollars. The menu is, as I've mentioned, expansive: they have everything from soups to salads to burgers to pizza to seafood to gyros. Honestly, most of the reason I keep coming back is the fries. They're really delicious thick-battered fries that are a medium-cut, cooked just golden brown and crispy, and they are to die for. Interior: the restaurant is divided into three separate portions: a takeout area, a dining area, and a bar area. There's plenty of seating to go around, except on Fridays and Saturdays when it's usually packed, especially during the summer. The decor is slightly tacky, but the environment is overall homey; the walls are painted... I think the color is called burgundy? There's very warm lighting, seating with comfortable distance, and a bunch of paintings hang on all the walls. I suppose the TVs are nice if you like sports, but they're not particularly for me; I tend to get distracted and end up not talking much if I'm there with people. There's one in a corner in the dining room, which you can sometimes avoid if you pick the right seat that's facing away, though, then whoever you're eating with will likely end up watching it. There are also two in the bar, which is fine, I guess, considering it tends to attract a crowd on game nights. If you come alone, they leave a ton of reading material around; every local free periodical drops off their stuff. East Side Monthly, The Onion, Get Magazine, Providence Monthly, The Phoenix, you name it; they have it all sitting in the takeout area. Overall one of my favorite spots to go to just get a snack or a casual meal. Thumbs up!

The service was absolutely terrible. Although they had one bartender who was serving as waitress/bartender it wasn't her fault. Which means ownership totally sucks. The ambience is zero. It feels and looks dirty and disheveled. I'm actually shocked they're still in business. Do not go here. And my advice to the bartender? Find another job you can do better than that.

This place has the worst pizza I have ever had. The price is right (the only reason they are getting two stars instead of one). Honestly, I would have been mad if I paid more.

Hope Street Pizza looks just like your typical pizza restaurant...and looks are not deceiving in this instance. It is notoriously the place you go when all the other places on Hope Street are crowded. The service is relatively fast. The food is ok. The staff is friendly, but it has never had that WOW factor like so many other restaurants in Providence. Some highlights: the Mediterranean Dish (it's an appetizer) was exceptionally good. Warm pita bread with eggplant and four different kinds of humus. Great to share for an appetizer or even to eat as a meal! Grinders are good. I mean...they're just subs, but if you don't feel like getting your typical Subway five-dollar footlong, then Hope Street grinders are a good change of pace. They pack them with meat for sure. Good for two meals. Good for take-out. Calzones aren't bad either. Well...they're really just like any other calzone. But it's food, so who really cares? In sum, Hope Street Pizza is just kind of meh...not bad, not amazing. If you don't feel like cooking and want to go somewhere on Hope Street that's low key, this is your best bet.

Welp... I'm not sure where to begin... Other than the fries, which I did not try, but read about, I'm uncertain if there is a reason to return... I didn't have high hopes upon entering, but when we couldn't find an "adult friendly" section in the place (including the bar) we were not off on the right foot. We found a spot and began looking over the menus. The bartender appeared rushed to get our orders in despite the early hour we arrived. After we ordered and our salad arrived, one of the two serving dishes was dirty. Like dried food stuck to it. We waited a minute to see if she would check to see why we weren't eating. No such luck. The boyfriend brought the plate to the bartender, who seemed uninterested in his problem or making amends with a simple apology. The salad itself was full of wilted greens and dirt. Gross. Onward... the main course comes... And I'll say, the turkey burger was damn good, but there was no offer for clean utensils. The pizza was mediocre at best. I'm not into the Greek style bar pizza served here, it wasn't bad, it's just not my thing (5 out of 10 rating -- keep in mind a Domino's type place for a below 5 rating). I didn't venture to the bathroom, but my beau, who isn't particularly picky did... And he advised that I not. I'm feeling generous with the two stars here. Even with the Groupon used to pay for this disappointing outing, I'm reluctant to go back.

First place I tried when I moved to Providence. It was the middle the week around lunchtime and was very quiet. The food was fantastic the best part was the owner himself came out to make sure that everything had been prepared correctly for us. The waitresses incredibly friendly and helpful when navigating to the menu. Definitely a place to try. Since then we have been back a few times and the food gets better and better

My roommates and I love coming here for a quick bite and a beer after a long week. Our servers are always very attentive, the owner usually comes out and says hi, and there's always a place to kick up our heels and relax. I usually opt for the buffalo chicken calzone - let's face it, everything's better once you dip it in ranch (yes, RANCH, not blue cheese). Last night, I ordered a gyro for the first time and loved the medley of spices they used for the beef, which itself was juicy and tender. Although the pita was still warm and tzatziki is basically my favourite condiment, I wish they had used more veggies to round out the sandwich! A few nitpicky things about Hope Street's pizza - the sauce could have a little more flavour and an upgrade in the mozzarella (quality, not quantity) would go a long way. The service stands out, so if the food can match it, this restaurant will be stellar.

Average to below average food. But, this is a good neighborhood pub....friendly service!!!

The subs are okay. The Italian didn't seem to have the best quality of meat and the sauce on the chicken parm was a little off. The pizza looked delicious though so I would probably try that. The fries are very tasty. Staff is friendly.

Great place have been coming here on and off for years. This is a safe bet for classic Greek Style Pizza. The pizza joint is great on its own, but the restaurant has become a great locals spot since opening the bar.

  • Allie P.

I end up here all the time. Maybe it's because it's close to my house and because they have reasonable prices and a good variety of food. But it's not because the food is all that great or because the customer service is any good - because it's not. The guys who work here always have a bad attitude. Grinders are lacking, there's an odd use of romaine lettuce instead of the usual and better suited shredded iceberg. On the plus side, I recommend the pizza, the paninis and salads (not Caesar)... The Caesar salad usually comes absolutely soaked in dressing, outrageous amounts of cheese and soggy croutons. Almost inedible. I really wish they would step it up and make their own dressings and put more umph into their grinders.

I came here on a rather busy day. There was a street fair on Hope street, and the restaurant was obviously unprepared for the influx of customers. The service was very poor. The waitress was very irritable and clearly overwhelmed. We ordered a small broccoli pizza and shared it between two people. The pizza was good. Extremely cheesy. My gripe is that we literally watched our pizza sit on the counter for about 10 minutes before someone brought it to us. I would give this place another shot perhaps on a different day.

If you offer outdoor dining, it would seem you should have attentive outdoor service. What looked like a nice spot turned into a major disappointment. 8 outdoor tables and not one wait person came outside for over 20 minutes. After going inside twice to ask for service, we finally left after sitting for 20+minutes at a dirty table. Two other table also waited for checks. Even after the take out pizza guy brought us menus and told us a waiter would be with us right away, we just kept waiting. What a shame.

So my nostalgia kicked in and bumped up my rating from a 3 to a 4. Oops. I always have the best times here, and that's really more of a personal thing than a reflection of quality of the establishment (or is it???). Either way, I can't bear to give my darling Hope Street Pizza less than a 4-star review. It's a bar that happens to serve some bar food. If you go in there knowing that, you won't be disappointed. Don't expect haute couture cuisine. Expect a beer and maybe a slice or some chicken fingers, and call it a day. They're open later than a lot of places on the East Side--so keep them in mind the next time you're caught in that "where-should-we-go" conundrum. The bartenders work their arses off, there's plenty of booze, and it has a nice neighborhood vibe. Expect that, and you'll be pleased beyond measure. Sit at the bar and watch a game. Catch up with a long-lost friend over a large pepperoni. Have a first date that lasts for hours. Buy friends beers as a thank-you-for-helping-me-move gesture. Come in after chaperoning a high school dance. Laugh, talk, eat, drink, be merry. See, nostalgia. How I love you, HSP.

Got two pizzas to go a cheese and pepperoni one veggie. The cheese and pepperoni had very little meat and the cheese was very strange the veggies looked like the vegetables had been purchased at the discount bin at the market. Will never go back.

This place is perfectly solid. I stumbled in here with a friend earlier this week after Pizzico couldn't seat us for 45 minutes... and it was totally a fine time! The atmosphere is definitely old school, a little divey, a little family-friendly, and fantastically fun. They were playing football and baseball on the big screens, which if you're into that, I'm sure makes for a perfectly legit sports scene. Now... you can't expect a gormet meal or super refined food. But we got the nachos and pizza, which were really quite tasty, if not sublime. The nachos actually have a bit of a "wet texture," with lots of salsa, guac, and lettuce. But it tastes a lot better than it looks and we ate the entire monstrosity of a plate. The pizza crust is actually really clean-tasting and hardy. It's solid pizza, akin to Minerva's in Wayland Square. All in all, we had a great time and will be coming back often for quick solid food and if ever in need of a sports bar fix.

  • So J.

More often than not this place does not disappoint. Usually do takeout because I work on the block and get a burger, turkey burger, pizza, or bruschetta and I love it. Service is even better. Might have been a freak coincidence but I got mudbutt from a turkey burger soon after eating. Totally worth it though.

Hope St. Pizza is pretty mediocre, but it's not horrible as long as you order the right things. They have Loose Cannon on tap in addition to some more typical beers (Blue Moon, Stella, etc.). The pizza is definitely the thing to get. I'm not saying it's amazing, but it's decent. A little bit better than pizza from the freezer. French fries are good but pretty generic (so probably from Sysco). Avoid the turkey burger, which is literally a hunk of cooked ground turkey on a bun. No lettuce, no tomato, no onions, no sides (costs extra to get french fries), and most of all, no flavor. To be honest, this place probably deserves 2.5 stars, but I'm giving them three because I dig their family friendly vibe. And also because I can walk there from my apartment.

  • Denise G.

When I think of a restaurant that deserves five stars, I think of one that gives me a flawless gastronomical experience. That is not so for Hope St Pizza... It gets five stars for sheer value and convenience. This is my go to "I don't feel like cooking or spending any money" place. Oh, and a place I can schlep my four yr old to without having to worry about her being a nuisance to other diners. (They are there with their four yr olds too!) The food is solid! We refer to their salads ala Seinfeld, as the "Big Salad". I highly recommend "The big salad topped with grilled chicken" (or as they call it, the Garden Salad)... for less than $10, and it will feed two of you. And it is not just a bowl of iceberg, they really use farmer's market quality mix with the kitchen sink worth of veggies in it. My personal favorite is their chicken souvlaki with side salad, my kid loves their "small" pizzas and my husband is a fan of their burgers. We really have not had a bad meal there (we go at least monthly), and we can usually get out of there for less than $30 for the 3 of us. This is truly my favorite neighborhood spot! I can't wait until the weather warms up and the outdoor seating is set up!

If you are looking for a thin (homemade) crust, a little crispy with nice non- greasy cheese- Don't come here. I don't know whats with the positive reviews- Perhaps they are fake? If you are looking for New York style pizza- Look somewhere else. They use a frozen puck and put toppings on it. Its more of a thick, doughy, greasy mess then anything else. Its really disappointing when your use to delicious NY pizza. Oh well... Guess you will have to drive 3 hours for that. Large thick- doughy greasy mess= 12.00 Mixed well drinks= 8.00 Feeding the birds outside our non-eaten pizza = Priceless!

I was not impressed. Desperate times call for desperate measures and that is how we ended up at Hope Street Pizza. I know it's just a pizza joint but I've been to some sketchy looking places before with some bomb pizza. This was not the case. To be fair, I didn't order pizza. I went with a gyro and it was ok. Let's just say I enjoyed the french fries more than anything. This is not the worst place on Hope Street but I there are so many other (cheaper) places that offer good food. Maybe I'll just go back for those tasty fries..

Update. This place gets better with age. Just noticed that they use only top shelf liquors in drinks! A+ Saki!! One of my favorite Pizza joints in the state. Average menu - Way ABOVE average pizza! 3 ( now 4+) stars rating is only due to the need for some updating on the interior(done),the bathrooms were gross (fixed and clean) with a fun and efficient staff. Take-out business here is a super highway of activity. The owner is a hoot however, and very interested in his customers opinion (one of the best customer appreciation nights in RI)

Fantastic Greek salad! Great pizza & drinks! Sit in the bar. Love this place, it's our hometown go to

I enjoy their pizza and sandwiches. We usually call in for take-out. I recommend them if you are looking for something to satisfy your pizza craving.

Not a great place, regulars and servers treat newbies like outsiders, pizza was decent, drinks despicable and the bartender pretended she was busy in the computer while she sat on her phone and ignored us! Will not return ever too many good places on hope street to waste time here

I've been coming here for awhile now and have never been disappointed. Yes, it's a simple pizza joint, but the owners are friendly, down-to-earth people and they care about their customers. I prefer to sit in the bar area and I've tried their pizza once, mainly I'll get an appetizer or a sub, order a small unless you're super hungry because the portions are huge! Great fries and yes, it's kind of a tacky interior and there are TV's everywhere. It's a pizza place, I wasn't looking for oil paintings or memorabilia on the walls. I just want good, inexpensive food. Get it here.

Great place to watch sports, big menu, awful wine selection, but then again I need to be ok with that as it is a pizza joint. I prefer thinner crust pizza so next time I try something else! I hope I like it because I need more hope st. Restaurants to pick from :)

  • Mike M.

i ate here often when i worked on north main st. Pizza and burgers were my average meal choices. The pizza was crunchy, and the crust just made the pie. They had great prices and the food tasted above what they were charging. Good portions. Salads, and other stuff always looked good on other peoples plates. I usually got my food to go there.

Hope Street Pizza serves as a great family restaurant and spot to catch a Sox game on the East Side. Sure, there are better options for pizza in Providence, so skip the dense, Greek-style pizza and opt for a spinach pie with cheese instead. Pull up a barstool and order their big, fresh Greek salad (get the toasted pita on the side) and witness some of the friendliest bartenders on Hope Street. I also love going on a warm spring night to sit outside and have a glass of wine and some apps. It definitely has a great neighborhood vibe and steady crowd of regulars. They're open pretty late for take-out orders as well.

Love the Greek-style pizza. It's a nice change up with all the Italian style around here. The fish and chips are great, huge portions. I really liked the chowder too, but sadly they haven't had it as of late. I mostly get take out here or hang in the bar, I'm not a huge fan of the family sit down part of the restaurant. Sometimes the service is lacking in there. Can't go wrong with the takeout or bar, though.

Hope St Pizza is right down the street from me so I frequent them rather often. Their pizza is delicious, but if it weren't for the proximity I don't think i would have it as often as I do. That being said, their pizza is the kid of pizza that you get a specific craving for. It's somewhere between thin and thick, with a both a chewiness AND a crunch to it. I usually need a little more somethin' somethin' on my pie, but the tangy thick layer of a cheese pizza from Hope Street is anything but plain. My fiancé loves their fish and chips, and they also make a mean Caesar salad and eggplant parm grinder. I've had a few service snags here. Their credit card machine often has problems, so I would recommend bringing cash if you can--there are several banks in the neighborhood and even an ATM in the restaurant. Secondly, the restaurant atmosphere itself is like a zoo, whether a family as large as the Dugands has decided to show up, or drunk waitress is running around. I prefer my dining atmosphere to be slightly more low key. Bottom line: a great place to pick up dinner after a long day at work, just make sure to bring cash to get in and out faster

This is a great place to bring kids or if you just want to catch a game with your friends. There are 3 parts to this restaurant - the bar side, restaurant side, and then some outdoor seating. I prefer the bar side! They have good beers on tap. Their pizza is ok but their bruchetta is outstanding! It is so fresh! Also, their french fries have won awards! I would definitely suggest going here for apps and drinks!

Although their pizza is excellent, their fish and chips is unreal and very reasonably priced. Owner and staff are extremely pleasant

I love Hope Street pizza. Best deep dish pizza with the best Greek crust in town. My only wish is that the add some more creative menu options outside of pizza. And the patties they use for the burgers could be better. But great comfortable neighborhood bar atmospher.

Hope St. Pizza is perfectly serviceable. It's not phenomenal, nor awful. Extra star for Sauvignon Blanc btg, which is uncommon at a small mid-tier pizza joint. Service is perfectly acceptable.

pizza was ok but wasnt good it was because of the crust. not top 10 that ive had in providence.hopefully the other items on the menu are better.

I've been going to Hope St. Pizza for years, and I am never disappointed. They have always been consistent. They are a family run business and I love to support the neighborhood. Go to Hope St., great pizza, sandwiches, and pasta!

I have eaten here many times and am always impressed. The food is delicious, ranging from pizza to gyros to clubs. The bar in the back is large with a good selection of beers on tap. Hope St. Pizza is always a good choice for a beer and a bite to eat.

Best Greek-style pizza in Providence and one of the best in Rhode Island. The lamb burger is also excellent. Order it medium-well with lettuce, tomato and a side of tzatziki and you'll be impressed. The service is friendly, but sometimes slow in the dining room.

This place is great. The greek owners know how to make an awesome Gyro. The bar is friendly and so is the staff. The salads are Good and Good for you. This is my local hang...

This place has really good pizza, a nice big bar, flat screens, and a casual, local-friendly atmosphere. You can eat on the family friendly, standard pizza parlor side or eat at the bar or a bar table. Everyone who works here seems to be quite attractive. I've never had anything other than the pizza. Prices are reasonable.

The pizza is absolutely fantastic but I would recommend taking our or eating in the restaurant - not the bar! . I had gone to HS pizza for some time and always did my job in overtipping the bar help despite the poor to medicore service, but its has just gotten worse and worse. I can expect slower service on a saturday night if it is busy, but I have been in there with just a couple friends and I am battling to get this girl to stop texting her friends and fill the empty glasses. God forbid she take the snear off her face for just a moment to ask what you would like. Like the prior reviews I gave it some time off and then went back up there, and it was a joke to spend my money on the service. Owner is cordial and great guy and if it was just on the pizza I would give it 5 stars...

It was a busy Friday night in the city and the bf and I had checked out, slowly drove by, and sadly continued on our journey to find a place to grab a bite to eat. Stomach a'grumblin, we finally stumbled upon Hope Street Pizza. The crowd was manageable, tables easy to locate, staff quickly attentive. The pizza here is mouth-watering. Greek style, a perfect blend of cheeses, plenty of toppings, and various combinations to choose from. We ordered a large chicken and broccoli pizza and almost finished the whole thing! The beer selection on tap fit my tastes including Blue Moon and Guinness, among others. Not sure whats up with their Stella on tap but it didn't taste right the night we went. Didn't taste like Stella at all. . . Only three stars for this place due to a few setbacks during our visit. We waited FOREVER for food. Put in our order and a good 25 minutes went by before we caught sight of anything edible (besides the beer). Secondly, the bar area where we sat has great seating with flat screen televisions but the layout is unfortunate during certain circumstances. . . Our table was located within several feet of the only bathroom in the bar area. As you can imagine we had other smells wafting to our table other than that of food. We quickly moved further away but could not escape the odor. Not the restaurants fault. . . but unfortunate that the only seating available was really only a few feet away from it. I'll know to never sit there again and urge others to keep an eye out for this trap. Perhaps dining on the restaurant side will fare better on future visits. Only street parking available for this restaurant.

Great neighborhood place. Lot's of regulars, and the conversation is always interesting. Their salads with chicken are the best any place I've ever been. Plus, homemade soups (spicy red clam chowder is my favorite). And don't forget to try a gyro (the owners are Greek afterall). Last but not least, the attractive bartenders (female) are an added plus. Go there more than once, and you will be treated like family.

When I lived on the East Side, I used to frequent Hope Street Pizza for their eggplant sub and a side of french fries, which by the way, are some of the best fries I think I've ever put in my mouth. I find they're consistent with the portions of food; it's always generous. Service is great and prices are fair for the amount of food you get in your order. Outdoor seating is available as well. I've been a fan of Hope Street Pizza for many years and I'm sure I'll continue to be a fan for many more years to come!

Love the gyro/souvlaki plates. Greek salads are huge and overflowing with fresh feta.

  • Mich B.

  • Jean F.

The service is great. Very personable, so this review isn't based on that at all. It's the food. Got a spinach pie...Eight dollars. We're talking canned spinach on a GRINDER ROLL. Absolutely disgusting. My son was sick all day after eating here. Lesson learned.

The subs are okay. The Italian didn't seem to have the best quality of meat and the sauce on the chicken parm was a little off. The pizza looked delicious though so I would probably try that. The fries are very tasty. Staff is friendly.

  • Melissa K.

    (5)
  • Brian B.

Love coming here! Saki, the owner, is great and he always has a friendly smile or story to tell! I love getting the gyros--flavorful and taste authentic! It's a great watering hole with a very good selection of beers on tap!

Great place have been coming here on and off for years. This is a safe bet for classic Greek Style Pizza. The pizza joint is great on its own, but the restaurant has become a great locals spot since opening the bar.

  • Annie J.

    (3)

Pizza.

Fine, nothing amazing, but nice to have round the neighborhood.

i ate here often when i worked on north main st. Pizza and burgers were my average meal choices. The pizza was crunchy, and the crust just made the pie. They had great prices and the food tasted above what they were charging. Good portions. Salads, and other stuff always looked good on other peoples plates. I usually got my food to go there.

  • Meagan M.

Thumbs up!

  • Marissa L.

I would definitely suggest going here for apps and drinks!

pizza was ok but wasnt good it was because of the crust. not top 10 that ive had in providence.hopefully the other items on the menu are better.

  • Taylor T.

  • K P.
