We literally dine here every Friday night because it's nearby, servers are nice, and food is consistently good. Our food came out cold this past Friday with the exception of my sons chicken fingers. The waitress asked how everything was and my husband replied cold. I agreed but was too starving to care (I worked a 9-7 without lunch and it was 8:30). The manager came over and apologized and offered to replace the meal at no charge. He explained that tge chicken had held up the order. We ordered two pieces of cheesecake to go (because it's the best and we always do). The desserts were also complimentary. It was not necessary but appreciated. The customer service here is hands down the best. Sidenote: The grilled cheese on wheat berry is so good as is the parmesan chicken.

Nothing to write home about, but I can Yelp it. I did take out of clamcakes and chowder. I have to admit though, their chowder is not as good as it used to be. The white chowder was ok, but nothing special. Just a bit too thick. Clamcakes were pretty good though. The hostess was great in making sure I had everything before leaving. You could tell she cared a lot in getting the order right.

There are good Chelo's and bad Chelo's, This is a bad Chelo's. The service was slow and uncaring. Our server took a long time to great up and take our orders, it was a Saturday around lunch and there weren't a lot of people there. She also couldn't answer any questions we had about menu items. This location is a bit rundown and in serious need of a facelift, inside and out. It does have good parking and easy access to the high way.

I love the Chelo's by the airport in Warwick but my experience at this location was beyond awful. We were seated promptly and that was the end of the good service. The waitress took our drink order. When she brought our drinks. Then two minute later she carried the garnish for my drink in her hand and the straw which she pulled out of the paper wrapper and bent and then stuck in my drink. She took our order and asked what kind of pasta I wanted with my chicken parm. Ten minutes later and still no soup or salad we asked where they were which got a response of oh I'll go check. She gave us our salad, mine had a paper slip in the salad but I unfortunately didn't say anything. Two minutes later asked us what our order was again. Apparently having forgotten to both put our order in and lost the paper she wrote it down on. Twenty or so minutes later our waitress then bring out our food. Except it wasn't what I ordered. She brought two of the same dish when we clearly ordered two different things. I asked for a manager. After another few minutes she finally came over and was completely unhelpful basically asking if I was sure that I didn't order it. When we had it and wanted to just leave they threatened calling the cops. I regrettably said I'd pay despite the awful service and the way I'd been treated because I didn't want to deal with cops. The bill they gave me had two of the same dishes again, the one I hadn't ordered and they said I never told them I didn't order it. By this point I had told two different people my order a total of four times and they still couldn't get it right and were accusing me of lying. I know she heard me the first time I order it because she asked me what type of pasta I wanted when the other dish didn't have that choice. The final straw was when I And when I asked for the names of the manager I talked to I was give a different name! No one should have to go through as poor of service as I had to suffer at this poorly managed restaurant. If cooperate allows this bad of a restaurant I doubt I'll ever go back to any location which is a shame because I've had good experiences at Warwick.

My husband and I have now given this 3 chelos 3 tries and the was the last. Every time we go we ask why did we go back? Basically there's no real reason to go here when you can drive up the road to Greggs which has much better food, service, clientele and atmosphere. Don't waste your time or money here.

First and foremost, I ABSOLUTELY LOVED THEIR RANCH! As an acid dipper, I was immediately happily excited to find - an excellent ranch. That being said, the service was pretty slow, of course it could've been me starving or - the potential fight that almost broke out... But the service was very nonchalant and took their time. Since there was almost a fight that ended up including 3-4 other tables stepping in - I found it very disrupting having a child at the table and thought a manager should've stepped in immediately. Overall, tastes food, but if you're really hungry perhaps somewhere with more speedy service.

I went to this Chelos and was quite disappointed. When you go in, it looks dark and dirty. It really needs a remodel. But, we came for the food, not the ambiance. First of all, the water tasted like cleaning chemicals (not that I have tried them lol). I had the other people in my party try the water too. Same thing. They said don't drink it. I ended up ordering a soda. My food arrived and the mashed potatoes were cold..not even lukewarm, but absolutely cold. I think they forgot to heat them up. My vegetables were lukewarm. Steak tips were ok though. The server never once smiled. It seemed like he didn't want to be there. He also didn't come over to see how everything was. I needed ketchup and the bottle on the table was empty. The server never came, so I took the one off the table next to us. That was empty too. I went to 4 tables before I got a bottle that had ketchup in it! One of the workers saw me go from table to table looking for ketchup but never said anything. I think he might have been a manager but I don't know for sure. I went there because I was in the neighborhood, but never again. I will stick to the one in Warwick.

Appetizers are good, servers are also nice and friendly. Food came to our table fast and hot. I would recommend people to skip the meat loaf. It is salty and the gravy doesn't help it at all. I'm the type of person who would eat it anyhow,I however couldn't after two bites I just ordered a burger and that was much better. My wife loved her steak.

Solid menu with seasonal options. Friendly wait staff. This could certainly become a favorite when in providence. Interesting decor

As a teenager I worked here and amazed at how clean the kitchen was. Food continues to be good and they cook my meat the way I like it, rare.

Found a hair on side of my dish they served and they handle wash silverware without care touching all ends as they were putting it away in the draw. Never again I support Chelos. They are now disgusting. I left a pic I'm there fb page in providence.

I went in on Thursday for dinner and the service by Gabrielle was excellent. I started with the french onion soup which was phenomenal. I had the Parmesan chicken which was also excellent. It was a 5 star visit. Why the three stars? Today, I got the steak sandwich to go this afternoon and and a quarter of it was nothing but fat! Words fail me.

Great home made food. Take out is super fast call ahead and it's ready in ten mins. Best take out you'll ever have.

Senior food... No flavors. Small portions and pricy for what you get. Very bland. Large seating though and desserts are good.

I don't know why we don't got to Chelo's more often- it has a huge menu, great desserts, and a nice, low-key vibe. You could literally go here in sweatpants and not feel awkward. That being said, it is not a fast-food restaurant, so you can expect to sit and enjoy good service, which is exactly what we did. Chelo's is pretty vegetarian-friendly too, as long as you remember you are not getting gourmet or creative dishes. The menu has a good selection of vegetarian apps, salads, a few pasta and sandwich options, and even a veggie burger. Chelo's is perhaps most known for their epic desserts, which include classics like chocolate or banana cream pie and chocolate chip cookie cake. Our experience was fantastic- we were seated at a huge booth right away despite the fact it was a Friday night, and our orders were taken promptly. I had a major nacho craving, so we ordered their nachos with the chili in a separate bowl (since it had meat in it). It was loaded with cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, olives, banana peppers, salsa and sour cream (both on the side), and the chips were fresh and crispy. My husband and I both loved them. For dinner, I ordered their southwestern veggie burger off of their summer menu. It was described as a patty made of beans, veggies and sweet potatoes, and it was topped with a chipotle aioli, lettuce, tomato, onion and pickles. I also had some curly fries on the side, which is one of my favorite things at Chelo's. Everyone knows seasoned curly fries at a restaurant are rare! While the burger was probably just a frozen one, similar to the black bean Morningstar patties, overall the whole thing was really tasty and well-crafted. From bun to toppings, it was a very satisfying and flavorful burger- I could only eat half! Puny it was not! The fries were amazing as always. I was so full after that meal, but it is shameful to not order dessert when at Chelo's. I debated between the chocolate cream pie and strawberry shortcake, but went with the latter option because it felt more "summery." Little did I know I would be presented with a mountain of strawberries, whipped cream and yellow cake. The dessert was enormous and easily could serve four. I could only eat a few bites but it was a satisfying few bites. My only gripe was that the strawberries seemed to be sweetened in a type of syrup, and I definitely would have preferred fresh berries. Still, it wasn't too sweet, but a little went a long way. The nice thing though is since it was like a parfait, I was able to wrap it up to take home for my husband's breakfast the next morning! Though it's nothing fancy, Chelo's is a really fun place to go to when you just want to relax and eat comfort food. I also have heard that the quality of food and service depends on which location you go to, but our experience at the Providence Chelo's was excellent. What's you favorite chain restaurant, local or not?

Chelo's is well known as a family establishment, based right out of little Rhody. It's a great place to stop in a hurry, or if the wallet is tight. The grill is open morning to close and I would suggest the burgers to a first timer.

I love Chelos. It's such a cool place to go when you are: 1. Not in the mood to go out 2. Cranky 3. HANGRY! (so hungry it hurts) The service is always great. Warm, accomendating and unpresumptious. Great when you fresh from the gym, a long day of shopping, or a rough week at work. I love their daily specials; they offer really great affordable fresh food. The booths are great for you to pile in with finds and family and just go to town on some unlimited chicken, fries, and pasta (Sundays, I believe). I have great memories of just sitting here and talking and laughing. I am also going to make a declaration: I believe Chelo's fish and chips could go up against many (if not all) of the others' in RI. There, I said it. They also have a fun dessert menu that is mostly seasonal. Another plus: very kid-friendly!

After years of going to Chelo's I think I can safely say they are good not great. Chelo's as a chain tries to market itself as a local joint for people to reminisce about the good times or when they were kids. I don't know how great that strategy is for Chelo's when their menu probably hasn't changed in over 50 years. Example: Chelo's actually failed in Wakefield, RI when it couldn't compete with the better restaurants of South County. Aside from talking about Chelo's on the whole. This particular Chelo's is right off 95 but I feel as you are getting closer to Providence, many tourists/travelers pass it up and it is only frequented by locals. The decor is on par with an Applebees, Fridays, etc with random tchotchkes on the wall. I think I remember seeing a creepy clown on the main wall. For my entree I got a new dish (ironically enough) which was a Buffalo Chicken Mac and Cheese. Not bad but there wasn't as much chicken pieces as I liked. Also just a warning the cheeses they use have a bit of a bite, like a queso. For an appetizer I went with clam cakes. This is really what Chelo's does well. They aren't too over done where they are too crunchy or too doughy. If I am itching for clam cakes and I am not in southern RI, then I usually head for Chelo's. If you are in the area, I only recommend Chelo's if you can't think of anything else (which is what happened to me). You won't be disappointed but you won't be thrilled either.

Wonderful service. Clean tables and seats. Family friendly as its a noisy restaurant so kids don't make a difference there! Our food came out quick, wonderful for going during a work lunch! They can get you in and out in less than an hour!

I'm a huge fan of Chelo's Providence...have been for my entire life. I've been twice in the last couple of weeks and I felt I needed to write. I'm not sure what happened but something's different. The menu has changed, the atmosphere has changed and more importantly, the service has changed. Last night we decided to celebrate Valentine's Day a little early with a quick meal at Chelo's and the rest of the evening at Twin River. Our waitress, Nicole, spent the evening doing only the obligatory waitress actions - drink order, food order, bring food check on food, bring check - Done! Not a smile to be seen, not even once. Now I get that everyone has a bad day every now and then but you're in the customer service business - suck it up and put a smile on your face! Our salads arrived and were wilted. There was some iceberg lettuce (barely cut up), a cucumber, about 3 cherry tomatoes and a pile of onions. What happened to the croutons? Since a kitchen girl brought the salads, we had to grab the bartender to get us silverware and napkins - again - our waitress is no where to be found. I had ordered Penne Alfredo with Chicken. I had to special order because it comes with Broccoli and they had removed my "Grilled Chicken Alfredo" from the menu. That dish was simply phenomenal and I ordered it every single time I went to Chelo's. My dish arrived and it was still tasty; however, I must caution. The chicken was terrible!!! Grisly and bits of fat hanging all over the place. I waited a little while because I was considering sending it back but since our waitress was MIA, I just pushed the chicken aside and ate the pasta. What happened to the quality grilled chicken they used on the former dish?? What a disappointment. My other half had the clam cakes and chowder and as usual - they were fantastic! No problems there! Just a quick item of note - if you ever get a chance to meet Julie the bartender - take care of her! She's a Chelo's treasure - has been there for years and is never short of a smile!! Overall, the experience of Chelo's for me has changed. I will probably give it another shot but I'll be cautious! I won't be getting my fav anymore but maybe I'll find another one!

Good value and okay menu. I will say that the clam cakes are awesome! I stop for lunch on Fridays a few times a month and I sit at the bar and Julie the bartender is great. The staff remembers your name and make you feel appreciated.

I haven't eaten at Chelo's in a long time and when I did, I would go to the one on the Waterfront. The other night we decided to go to the Providence location and was surprised at how good everything was. We were seated right away and our server was really nice. I only ordered a cheeseburger but it was honestly the best cheeseburger I had in a long time.... even better than 5 guys, which apparently everyone raves about... I personally didn't care for that place. We will be back!

Mediocre potato skins, and a calamari salad that was drowned in balsamic vinaigrette. But the five-cheese mac and cheese was very tasty, and who can argue with $2.99 margaritas? I must note that I got violently ill several hours after I finished this meal. I can't be sure the food was at fault, but it's possible.

Since I've never had a clam cake before, my husband wanted to take me to a place right around our house... I'm not disappointed by not going to Iggy's like everyone told us, lemme tell you! We were greeted & seated right away, and our waitress was prompt & efficient. We asked about the drinks, she told us about everything...(drinks, food specials, etc) Ordered two basic margaritas ($2.99! How can you go wrong?) Pretty darn tasty..just the right amount of tequila! My husband & I split an order of clam cakes & he also got a bowl of chowder (Red chowder for me...) he loves to dip! The food arrived smoking hot! I was at first disappointed because I thought the clam "cakes" would resemble crab cakes! They look like giant golf balls! Once I bit into one, all the trepidation melted away! The taste of clam filled my mouth right away & the cakes were crisp on the outside & texturally perfect inside...great experience! Tried my husbands chowder & it too, was pretty darned good...hot, chock FULL of clams & not too many potatoes (HATE all the taters some places add into the chowder!) Chunks of tomatoes! Even the manager/owner made the rounds asking customers if their meals were alright, nice touch nowadays... This is definitely a place we will go again! Next time - seafood chowder!

Proper pronunciation: Beef Hoth. (In case you're visiting from out of state.) One of my favorite burgers of RI. You get a nice char, juicy pink center, and a really good bun. Steak fries and ketchup are fresh, hot, and not grease logged. Another nice thing here is the warm bread pudding. Beef hoth specializes in middle/heavyweight items- meatloaf, pastas, fried appetizers. Better than any national chain for sure. Consider just stopping by to pick up a pie. They have really great pies. Much better now since the state banned smoking. It used to stank like burnt ass in there. There are still gross nicotine stains on the ceiling. Don't look up.

The best fish and chips I've ever had. Don't pass up the chocolate fudge cake. Waitresses are all kinda young and clueless...I don't think it's a nice place to work.
