About Applebee's
Applebee is an American full-service restaurant brand popularly known for its signature Riblets. Applebee was conceptualized in 1980 by Bill and TJ Palmer in Atlanta, Georgia. At first, the restaurant was named T.J. Applebee's RX for Edibles and Elixirs. After the concept was acquired by W.R. Grace and Company, the restaurant was renamed as Applebee's Neighborhood Grill & Bar. Later the company and the Applebee's concept changed hands with Abe Gustin and John Hamra who started the first Applebee's franchise restaurant in Kansas City.
Later in 2007, IHOP Corp. now known as DineEquity, Inc. acquired Applebee's and began their journey together to make Applebee's the world's largest full-service restaurant chain. Today, Applebee's serves at more than 1,830 locations worldwide. The Applebee's menu ranges from Appetizers and Salads to heavy meals consisting of ribs and steak. There are three reasons why you should go here if you're in Providence. One: The place is clean. Two: Service is fast. Three: They serve the best Thai food in Providence, RI. :) Order their pad thai (almost close to the pad thai in Thailand), shrimp tom yum soup (very very good), and their seafood rice bowl. Their coconut ice cream is also good. It tastes the same as the ones I've had in Thailand.

I love Bee's! This place is adorable, friendly, and authentic (I.e. run by a sweet Vietnamese family). The interior is very clean, with sweet goldenrod walls, wooden floors, and woven red placemats. The service is the best, always greeting you with a warm smile. And the food is just wonderful. This is one of my regular spots for when I crave Asian food, and it without fail hits the spot. Some of my favorite orders are the spring rolls with mango and avocado, duck noodle soup, brown soy noodles (pad see ew), and mango sticky rice. The duck noodle soup is the perfect rainy day/bad day comfort food pick me up. It's like chicken noodle soup, but savory-er and better. The pad see ew has deliciously thick and chewy noodles, flakes of egg, a generous helping of U-Choy, and well-cooked protein, all smothered in a yummy brown soy sauce. And I won't go into further detail, but everything they offer is well-executed and yummy, without being super greasy. This is an awesome, friendly Thai place that will definitely leave you with a smile on your face!

I tried the eggplant with the rice and beef, the eggplant was delicious, the beef smelled kinda funny. The beef and the rice portions were little. The place seems very clean and a good customer service. If I could I'll rate this place for 3.5 Food: 3.5 Service: 4 Clean: 4.5 Price/portion : 3.5

My food was absolutely delicious, everything came out super quickly and was plated beautifully, and the restaurant was clean and light-filled. It is BYOB with a liquor store right across the street which is also very convenient. I ordered the Fresh Rolls (with mango and avocado, I normally don't like mango but so good!) and the Tofu Yellow Curry Unfortunately, my dining companion, who had beef Pad Thai and edamame, didn't like his meal at all. I also think the portion sizes are a bit small, so although it is absolutely delicious, I was left feeling a bit unsatisfied for the price.

Come for the food, stay for the experience. A cute little boutique style restaurant on the east side of Providence. Bee's Thai Cuisine is a wonderful experience that you must try if you're visiting Rhode Island or live in the area. The fresh mango wraps are always vibrant with Taste and are extremely appealing to the eye. The Pad Thai Noodles have a wonderful smoky stirred undertone that is accentuated by perfectly soft cooked chicken. All the vegetable dishes pop with color and are crunchy fresh for any pallet. The cleanliness of the restaurant is unsurpassed from the bathrooms to the windows the chairs and the floors there is nothing that you can complain about. Definitely make Bee's Thai Cuisine a stop...

The place is very clean and the customer service was awesome! They're pretty decent lunch specials for about seven bucks. The food taste fresh, and I would highly recommend the Thai fried rice and the chicken madness. BYOB is always a plus, BTW there's a pretty decent liquor store diagonal from the restaurant. Parking isn't that bad although it's street parking-

One of our regular go-to restaurants! Very good Thai food neighborhood spot with a BYO option, which makes it an affordable night out. The pad see ew is my personal favorite. Only caution is that sometimes, the ingredients listed on the menu are not what is actually included in your dish, so be sure to specify if you want exactly what's listed on the menu. Highly recommend!
(5)Leo S.
BEYOND RECOMMEND!!! Amazing! Dinned once and pick up once! Food flavor is on point! And always a very friendly atmosphere! Only gripe is the portions of appetizers! And the lack of meat in the dishes! Way to heavy on the noodles which are cheaper than meat or veggies!
(5)Michael D.
Maybe it gets five stars because I live next door and go there fairly often -- so it's very convenient. That being said, I haven't had a bad experience yet. The flavors are good, ingredients fresh, and the staff never fails to be nice. They've been picking up their speed lately, too. It's a family-owned business and they employ community members, so I'm happy to support them. Lunch specials for dine-in are a good deal. Takeout is fairly quick and easy. Recommend: For entree -- pad won sen, hot basil fried rice, pad kea mow, spicy bamboo, tom-yum noodle soup. For appetizer -- mango fresh rolls.
(5)Xiao Z.
I came here on a munchie-quest, ordering primarily from the appetizer menu. The ambiance was nice, clean, and respectable. The staff were a bit on the chilier side and hurried our orders, but I've come to expect that in almost all Asian restaurants. For the two of us, we shared the Tom Ka soup, Tom Yum, steamed dumplings, mango wraps, and spring rolls. Only the mango wraps stood out, the rest were meh, and felt just taken out of the freezer and pre-made by a major automaton food industry. Of course, this is just my opinion, but we still had a good time eating here. Food: 3 stars Price: 3 stars Service: 3 stars Ambiance: 3 stars

Eat your feelings good! I tried this restaurant because of all of the reviews and it was a great experience. I arrived about 5:30 on a Monday and there was one other couple in the restaurant. The server was sprightly and knowledgable!
(5)Chris G.
Good food. Crap acoustics. Cannot hear the person to my right and he is 4 inches away.
(3)David R.
Very good thai food, I think the best we've had in Providence (if perhaps not the best ever). Will definitely be coming back!
(4)Saadet A.
I tried the crab Rangoon and the shrimp pad Thai. Both were pretty solid choices. The flavor in the crab rangoon was impressive, and the dough was soft yet crunchy. The filling just oozed out with every bite! Pad Thai was delicious. The noodles were cooked perfectly and it was very well balanced with just the right amount of nuts and bean sprouts!
(4)Bonnie M.
This is a great find! BYO places seem to be mostly on the east side of Providence. We grabbed a bottle of prosecco, it was a nice sunny day, so we walked from EP to Bee's. The service was polite, quick, and very helpful. We ordered a few apps and played with spices - our waiter explained the options thoroughly, and brought us some different selections. Some were SO hot, but flavorful. Sinus clearing, to say the least. The prosecco helped with that! Delicious and light. I would go back for more Thai food ASAP! A really nice experience.
(4)Nathan A.
I'm pretty picky when it comes to Thai food, mainly because I have a soft spot for Northern Thai cuisine, which you can't often get at a typical Thai restaurant. However, Bee's does a pretty nice job for my cravings for Thai food. When it comes to apps, they've got great ones. The Mango Fresh Roll is massive and quite good. Who would have thought wrapping up giant pieces of mango in a roll would be so good. It's worth trying. The Crab Rangoon is also worth a try. Once, I tried to the fried Tofu Triangles. It's simply fried tofu. If you order any dish, such as the Pad Thai with tofu, you will basically be getting that appetizer cut up into your dish. The Pad Thai, Drunken Noodle, Pineapple Fried Rice, and any of the curries are quite good. I'm a sucker for Panag Curry. Overall, I think they're light on the spice, so if you enjoy spicy Thai food, be sure to ask for a little more. Oh, and wash it all down with Thai Ice Coffee or Thai Ice Tea! It's so good. Fair prices. Nice portion size. Really friendly staff. Take out. BYOB.
(4)Richard S.
Probably best Thai restaurant in Providence. Service is fast and friendly, and the food is very tasty with ample portions. Lunch specials are a real deal.
(4)Tammy L.
Drunken noodles and Tom yum shrimp soup were decent. The spicy soy brown wide noodles with tofu were great. They don't do free refills on ice tea.
(4)Rebecca B.
My husband and I just got back from our first visit to Bee's. Being that we live down the street from Apsara we just never remembered to come here. But so glad we did. Compared to the ambience, or lack there of at apsara, this was a pleasant change of pace! We got there just in the nick of time (7:00 Saturday night) and we were promptly seated. The place got very busy soon after. The service was very quick and friendly. We ordered the crispy shrimp which were delicious and the mango spring roll which to my surprise was awesome! We also had the beef pad Thai which was outstanding BUT very stingy on the beef. Perhaps a few more pieces would have made this review 5 stars. Definitely check this place out. Lots of parking on the street and BYOB!
(4)Nichole H.
I moved up to this area a little over a year and a half ago and have been trying out different places to get pad thai and pad se ew, i lovee some thai food and i finally found it! This place is awesome SUPER fast i walked in and ordered take out and left maybe 10 minutes later with my food. The crab rangoons are bomb the pad se ew is great and the pad thai is killer. I will def become a regular to this place even though its a 20 min drive. yummmmmmm
(5)Rob G.
So glad this place has joined the Providence food scene... Great food, reasonable prices, fast friendly service and a comfortable setting. What more could you want? Oh right, BYOB and a liquor store across the street that sells Thai beer. Yup, they have you covered there too! :)
(5)David G.
Bee's is my go to place for dinner during the week. You can always sit. The wait staff is hit-or-miss. The Lady who owns the place (Bee?) is very nice and friendly. She seems genuinely happy and pleased that you're eating with her. I haven't had a bad meal. The Thai here in Providence doesn't compare to that in Boston or whatever but it's good. Try the pumpkin red curry because it's good.
(4)Steve A.
I was looking for something new and the reviews here were pretty positive, so I thought I'd give it a try. The restaurant is located in a primarily residential area and if you aren't looking for it, you could drive by and miss it. They don't have a lot, but I went on a Friday night and there was adequate parking close by. The restaurant is reasonably sized and clean. The service was good and the waitress was pleasant and very attentive. We started with the mango fresh roll and calamari. The best way to describe the mango roll is to think nime chow with mango instead of a protein. It tasted fresh and the mango was sweet. That balanced with the peanut and spicy chili sauce was a pleasant surprise. I would highly recommend it. The calamari was nicely fried, firm and not mushy, and the sweet chili sauce that came with it also complimented it very nicely. Both made for a great start. The portions aren't huge but are adequate. For the entree I had the chili duck. The duck was tender, the veggies were crisp and the sauce had a nice flavor. The only knock I'd give it is that I felt the duck was too salty. Not so much so that it couldn't be eaten, I just wish they had gone a little lighter on it. To finish I had the fried ice cream. The batter had a bit of a doughboy texture and taste and the ice cream was pretty solid. It was topped with whipped cream and a chocolate drizzle. It was good but it wasn't anything special if you've ever had fried ice cream before. I would definitely go there again to try some of the other dishes on the menu. The restaurant is BYOB but with a liquor store located diagonally across the street, don't let that stop you. Prices are reasonable and there are plenty of options on the menu to satisfy any Thai food lover.

Oh man, i am so happy that Bee's opened up! Their food is fresh, satisfying, well spiced, and delicious!! We ordered the Basil Chicken dish (errr, i can't remember exactly what it was called) and it was so good I got it for take out two days later!! I also had the Tom Yum soup with veggies. THe broth was flavorful, the veggies were fresh, and it hit the spot. I'm sure i'll soon be a regular here. Good stuff!
(4)Jessica S.
I was here for lunch recently with a friend. Very nice decor and I like the location. We got the dumplings, vegetable soup, and pad thai. It is hard to find good dumplings and these were really good. I must go back for them soon. My beef pad thai was good. I like the light flavor of the soup, though the vegetables needs to be cut to an appropriate size for soup. I ordered a thai iced coffee and she ordered a thai iced tea. We ended up liking each others better and switched. Our server was nice but not very skilled and should have been working with someone else still if she was that new. She brought us both thai iced coffees to begin with and we had to send one back. Then she charged us for someone elses bill, and luckily she noticed it at some point because I am not sure we would have. That is a big mistake to make and the place was fairly empty. Overall we liked the food enough to want to go back.
(4)Jamey B.
This was a great neighborhood joint that seems like it doesn't get enough of the foot traffic most east side restaurants need to succeed. The service was awesome. So friendly and sweet and accommodating of the third wheel (my toddler). I had a spicy (sort of) basil chicken stir fry which was chock full of veggies and a good portion. The dumplings were likewise freshly steamed tastiness. All the food had a lightness and freshness to it not found in similar establishments around town and I cannot say enough good things about the service. The prices are a little high for the portions and the competition but it is well worth a visit for fresh Thai food.

Bees is a pretty good sized restaurant. You park on the street, and walk. There are lots of college kids and you might wait for a table. I've been six times now, and waited once. It was about 8 pm on a rainy Saturday night. Service got bogged down where cooks from the kitchen in their aprons came out to help. With all the talk about mango spring rolls (it doesn't take much to get the vegans excited, does it?), I had to try them. They're good.... In a way that a dinner salad is good. They are rice wrappers, rice noodles, cucumber, lettuce, mango, and avocado. They come with a rather odd peanut and sirracha dipping sauce. Two for five bucks. I get them almost every time I go. I have had both rad na and brown soy noodles, which everyone else calls lat na and pad see ew. The chicken madness is also pad krapow by the way! They use different names for some things. Rad na is the wide noodles with assorted vegetables in a brown sauce. I got the chicken. My dish was covered, and I mean covered with white pepper. I took a bite and did my impersonation of Bill the Cat coughing up a hair ball! Not enjoyable at all! Must remember to ask them not to add pepper! Brown soy noodles is wide noodles with meat and chinese broccoli. Drier, and a little smaller plate. Also covered in white pepper. They sure do love their white pepper! I had to try my favorite, Penang chicken. The portion was small. I don't think it had an ounce of chicken in it. The curry was nice, and they gave me a small cup of rice with it. $12 was reasonable but it was small. The last dish I tried was pepper pork. $13 for a little plate of thin sliced, tender pork in a brown sauce with fried garlic and lots of black pepper. It came with a little cup of rice. The restaurant is nice. People are nice. The little plates of food and the price will make this a once in a while spot.

Very good Thai food and sweet service. I tried the mango spring rolls, per the yelpers suggestions, and I liked them! I always get shrimp spring rolls at Thai restaurants, but I was with a vegetarian friend and thought I would give this a try. The mango and avocado flavors worked well together. I got Tom Yum Noodle Soup, and made a special request, which the service and kitchen handled well. I really wanted noodles in my soup, but did not want the ground chicken that was listed on the menu. I wanted shrimp instead, and when I asked the waitress if it was possible to make this substitution she handled the request as well as any fine dining restaurant in the area would have. The told me was not sure if that was possible, but that she would find out.(This is what was taught to me in my hospitality courses at school, so I was very impressed) The kitchen was able to make the substitution so I left the restaurant a super happy customer. I will be back, because of the great service and fresh, flavorful food.

I live close to Bee's and have tried a few things and loved it all! This place is clean and the service is fast. I have not tried the soup yet but that's next. I like how they throw a little spice in to their dishes and the portions are just enough. Its nice to sit there because they have huge windows so it feel like you are outside but you aren't, thank goodness. If you don't feel like sitting in then order take out and it is just as good at home.
(4)Hilary H.
I hit up Bee's for a nice little lunch -- whatever dish you choose, you get a fresh side salad and nicely-cooked rice to accompany. My personal favorite is the Hot Basil, which isn't really all that hot, but it's quite delish. Especially with their really, really good tofu as the protein of choice. I'll admit, I haven't actually eaten here. We place take-out orders at least once a week and it's always ready when they say it will be and it's always nice and hot when we get it home. The veggies are particularly good -- I wouldn't exactly call them organic or anything, but they're crispy and tasty and I love that they include hericots vert in their stir-fry (my personal fave!). A note: the dressing on their salads is a little heavy for me, and reminds my of the yucky 'salad creme' you find in the UK (basically sweetened and diluted mayonnaise -- yuck!!!). You can ask for no dressing and throw your own in there, which I highly recommend.
(4)J U.
My girlfriend and I went ate here a couple of weeks ago and loved it! She got the pad thai and I had the drunken noodle. Both were amazing. The server was very attentive and friendly also. The rangoons were perfect. I highly recommend.
(5)Audrey C.
On a recommendation, we went down to Ives to check out Bee's. I haven't been having a lot of Thai food lately, mainly because i feel like Thai is the the new 'chinese take out' meaning - no matter which restaurant you go to the menu is pretty much the same and everything is covered in a sweet sticky sauce taylored to the american palete. Not that there's anything wrong w/ that - and sometimes I'm down for a plate of general TZOs or Gaos, or sesame chicken crab rangoonwhatever. And so when you walk into a thai restaurant in little rhody, that's what you kinda get. A pad thai, several kinds of currys w/ or w/o mango or coconut milk, a golden triangle tofu thing, fresh rolls, fried rolls . . . drunken noodles . . . all covered in or served w/ a side of a thick sweet sauce. And that's not what GOOD Thai food is to me - there should be interesting flavors - FISH SAUCE, good wok work where you can taste some smokiness (wok hai - or breathe of the dragon) . . . and some flavor beyond the cloyingly sweet sauces. One test of whether or not you're getting 'thai american' or the real deal . . . walking and looking around - not a single asian in the joint besides the staff. The atmosphere was light and airy and the staff was efficient and the food came up FAST, almost too fast like we were being rushed thru. I'd say that Rim Nahm over in Pawtuxet Village is far superior and anyone who is interested in a good drunken noodle head over there . . . Also it's BYOB, which is great. So extra star for that.

I am trying to go a bit easy on Bee's because they might still have a bit of the jitters, and I went on the first big all the college kids are back in town Friday night. Service was totally awkward. Like we had been sitting for 5 minutes and they asked if we were ready to order and she lingered at the table even though we said we needed time. At the end of the meal they were really rushing to get us out as it was like ten past nine, and they close at nine thirty. For the area they are in, especially with a popular bar across the way, they might want to rethink closing that early on the weekend. Also, as we wandered in after 8, I think the menu we received was condensed. There certainly were not as many options as I am seeing on the pictures uploaded here. My friends started with the crab rangoons which they said were swell and had a nice sweet sauce with them. They both opted for the drunken noodles at the mildest spice level, and for people that don't love super spicy food it was perfect for them. I ordered the Hot Basil rice, which I didn't read correctly and it had ground chicken in it. Not the end of the world, I just got nervous when I realized there was a protein I couldn't easily identify in it, and started thinking that I should get the EPI pen out just in case. The whole dish had sort of what I would equate to a hot italian sausage flavor to it, but wasn't spicy like I would want Thai food, if you know what I mean. The portion was good, but was still a size where I probably shouldn't have had all of it, but if I stopped eating what was left shouldn't have come home with me either sort of deal. I liked that the rice wasn't super dry, but wasn't saucy either. The place does has AC (Apsara does not....and it was hawt out, which had us trek down ives street instead), but as the restaurant filled up it wasn't able to keep up with all the hot bods and hot foods. BYOB was good, but I am not sure if they would have thought to offer us a bottle opener if we needed one (luckily what we brought was twist off). The interior is simple. My legit only complaint? Every surface in there is hard, and it got really loud throughout the meal as everyone's voices bounced off of all the surfaces in the place. Maybe some dividers or something could help with that,

I gave Bee's a 3 stars after my first two visits, but I had to change my mind after the third time here. The food is still pretty decent but the service really needs work. First two times service wasn't that great but then this third time... made me grade down the place. It is understandable that there are a lot of people in a restaurant and the food is slower than average. But here, the two tables who came after we did got their orders way before we did. We ended up waiting for an hour for 3 dishes. When we asked the waiter for our food he said in Thai something along the line of "the food is coming, please be patience." I'm not quite happy with his speech. Not only that, when I order the Tum Yum noodle, which I have asked for an extra spicy and the waiter said "Ok, 3/3 spicy and Thai style" the dish came out way too sweet and I did not taste the spiciness in it at all. Even after that, they were still not very attentive and we had to keep calling them things and they didn't even ask if we wanted dessert but just handed us the check. Came out unhappy today.

Pros: Food always hits the spot Price is pretty reasonable for Thai food...unless you've been to Thailand, then you won't be happy Family that owns the place is lovely They cook to western palates, so it won't set your mouth on fire Lots of Gluten-free options BYOB Some times adorable children are "working" the counter Cons: Small quantities Not spicy enough, even when begged Surprisingly stingy about the rice Summary: I go here often and would give it 3.5 stars if I could since its the best affordable Thai food around.

I'm really happy that this place opened up near where I live. The food is really good and the service is friendly! I'm not from around here so finding good food has been a bit of a task. We wandered in here sometime before waterfire on the weekend and ordered a few things. We got a mango roll, which was delicious, and I would definitely order it again. My girlfriend got the panang curry (a staple dish) and she loved it. I got the drunken noodles and I also loved it. We both ate EVERYTHING. The portions were pretty big so that really speaks to how good it was! The waitress was super sweet and nice too which is hard to come by! She was attentive and our glasses were never empty! I would say just go ahead and order SUPER SPICY! The curry wasn't as spicy as what I'm used to (but the flavor was delicious) so go big when asking for the spice if you get the panang curry. I ordered my drunken noodles medium spicy and that was actually pretty perfect but I could've easily gone a little spicier (i love a good kick). I'll definitely be coming back! The noodles were not what I was expecting (and by that I mean, they didn't look like drunken noodles, they weren't wide noodles) but taste-wise they hit the mark!

Very clean kitchen ,good thing cause we can watch them cook! Had some apps . Spring roll, plain....chicken wing was ok, the puffs were DELISH but they were flat , nothing Like the photo showed, but savory and sweet, delicate and even though fried, tasted light. Sweet potato , onion filling .Real good And byob is always a plus in my reviews:)

I love Thai food. All Thai food. And because of this, I've hunted through Providence for good Thai food. And I have found it here. This Thai food is the stuff I crave. The stuff I can't go too long without or I get cold sweats. Okay. Okay. It might not be the best in all of Providence (mostly because I am still working my way through that list) but it's finger licking food. Scrape the bowl clean good. Crave it weekly good. I'm mostly referring to the pumpkin curry. I can't have enough of it. There's curry and rice and a little spice. They even ask you how spicy you want it! The service can be a little on the slow side, but I never mind because the staff is friend, the place is quant, and the food good and affordable! That's the best part - it's not going to break the bank! I'd eat here more often if I lived over here. Love love love this place!
(5)Heather H.
Only been here once so far, but the chili duck and coconut soup were lovely. I do wish there had been no bell peppers in the chili duck, as that ingredient was not in the description, but I picked them out, and it was delicious. The duck was cooked nicely, tender. I would probably ask that they to spice it up next time. There was a spicy pepper next to the item but barely any spice to it. I think they made it white girl spicy.
(4)Ryan B.
Very good Thai food. I really enjoyed all the food I ordered and everybody around me seemed to love what they got also. Ohhhh yea byob!
(4)Amy A.
This place is delicious! My husband and I just had the best meal on a cold Sunday night. Each dish is made fresh and is piping hot. I love the beef salad, chili fish, coconut soup, Tom yum soup, and tofu triangles! Make sure to get the chili flakes and paste on the side for dipping. Great place to eat if you're trying to eat gluten free and/or somewhat low carb. Enjoy!
(5)Gaby J.
This place is great! The chicken Pad Thai is amazing but you must get it with lime. I've had take out a few times and they forgot to add lime, not great! The decor is ok, very simple, nothing fancy but the people who work there are very friendly. The mango roll is fantastic! Oh, and it's BYOB but it's conveniently located across the street from Madeira liquors :)
(4)Kristen M.
I love Bee's. Yes, the portions are small for the prices but I eat every last bite and I'm not left feeling disgustingly full afterwards (portion control!). And yes, the service is awkward at best (not even including the night I went in and made sure they were open only to have them try to kick us out the second our plates were cleared because we were the only customers left). But, here's the thing, the food is awesome. I have taken four separate groups of friends here and every single one of them has loved their entrees, vegetarians and meat eaters alike. My favorite dish is the red mango curry with tofu (massaman curry with mangoes). The fried wontons are super light and delicious. I will forewarn that I believe their take out portions are smaller than the restaurant portions. Hopefully Bee's can overcome their new restaurant jitters and become the new go to BYOB spot on Ive's.
(4)Kevin P.
Mango rolls are a must. Tom yum soup is a bit lean. Brown soy noodles have a very nice savory flavor!
(5)Sherry K.
Love their lunch specials! My favorite place for a quick lunch or take out. Visited once for dinner, like that it is BYOB with a liquor store conveniently located across the street.
(3)Ryan D.
Guys, this is your Asian place if you want something a little more healthy. Their rolls are made fresh and full of vegetables, most dishes are made with a lighter sauce (which may make some of the dishes less "tasty"), and they let you sub in brown rice into most dishes. Service is excellent because sadly, the restaurant is empty. I have yet to see more than a few tables get going. I hope more reviews can get Bee's going. The problem business wise with Bee's is that it is off of Wickenden and away from Wayland, so no other business other than Dok's Deli to bring in the customers.
(4)Diya S.
I have only been here once, but it's pretty good - the mango spring rolls were fresh and delicious. I am vegetarian and the only thing that doesn't have fish sauce in it is the curry, so please beware if you are vegetarian. Curry portions were small for the price, but still tasty.
(3)Aia T.
Food is awesome!! We come here very often and never been disappointed! Bee, the owner is a superb lady. Thanks Bee! ;)
(5)Andrew B.
We started with the Mango Spring Roll as many people had suggested. It was cool, the vegetables were firm, and overall it was refreshing and tasty - served with a nice spicy sauce on the side. Regrettably the meal took a turn for the worse from there. The service was attentive, if mildly overwrought. The Thai Iced Tea, of which I'd consider myself a connoisseur, was excessively creamed. The steamed dumplings were stuck together, the filling was muddled in taste, and the unidentifiable and non-standard mixture of nonsense atop them was presumably crushed nuts. Served with a warm light soy sauce. Don't order them. The spicy basil with tofu and white rice was passable. The sauce is the most important part. It was well prepared, but scant - less than half the amount I would expect in such a dish. The vegetables were fine, but the tofu was heavily fried and greasy. Tofu can work well in the dish seared or silken, but these were like course sponges filled with vegetable oil. The rice was unremarkable. The prices were reasonable, there appear to be some redeeming items on the menu, and overall the service was reasonably good. But if this is the best Thai experience that Providence has to offer, venture afar.
(3)Bryce A.
I live a couple blocks away from Bee's and have eaten there twice and ordered to go twice. For American Thai food, it's quite good, and is certainly the best Thai place around College Hill. The last time I went there I ordered their pumpkin curry. The portion was perfect and tasted fresh and homemade. My favorite dish is their charcoal grilled chicken. I honestly forgot that chicken could taste so good. It's incredibly tender and well-seasoned. I highly recommend trying it at least once. The atmosphere is nice and quite and the restaurant is usually uncrowded. The staff are friendly too, but aren't overly talkative. If I didn't live in the area, I probably wouldn't bother to go out of my way to eat there, but it's a great neighborhood restaurant and I hope they stay around!
(4)K D.
Wow, this place is CUTE! It is fresh, clean, and modern. Seems like a family run place as there are many generations of Thai folk floating in and out, answering the phone, cooking, and serving the food. The menu is extensive and includes all of your favorite Thai items. I'm probably too white to request "spicy", so I was a little underwhelmed by the flavors. When I asked for my leftovers to be spiced up, they definitely were. I had the shrimp appetizer, the coconut soup (lovely fresh veggies included!), and the basil fried rice. I can't wait to go back and insist that I can handle the burn! Parking was easy. It is actually a pretty quiet area of town. I love that they use an iphone for checking out, emailing of receipts.
(4)Lauren T.
Bee's Thai Cuisine hits the nail on the head! Incredible options (red curry with mango, pad thai, pineapple fried rice are a few personal favs) and BYOB (liquor store diagonal from the restaurant). Tell me how you can go wrong? Bee's is a family run restaurant using only fresh ingredients and serving them as quickly as they can. It's a fresh- made to order restaurant people! Yes it may take 10 extra minutes but that's because someone is actually cooking your food to order. Put down your iPhone, you dont need to send another snapchat to people you don't really care about, and have a conversation with your date. Or run to the liquor store and get an extra nip or two and make the night more fun. Also, judging a THAI restaurant on their ability to make a crab rangoon is a little odd. Go for the THAI food, not for the cream cheese fat cups of death.
(5)Corey T.
I wish Yelp would let me give this place negative stars in order to bring their actual rating to something realistic like 2.5 stars. In an area where there's lots of great thai restaurants in a 50 mile radius this place serves the smallest portions at the highest prices and the lowest quality. Service was polite but poor. As for positive things I liked the location and the fact that it was BYOB.
(1)Barry D.
So far: good yellow pork curry, good chicken drunken noodles, good fresh spring rolls, and decent iced tea (a little too sweet). We'll be back, definitely!
(4)Carrie C.
Went to Bee's Thai Cuisine because they offer lunch specials and I was craving Pad See Ew. However, the server informed me that they were currently out of wide rice noodles, which if you're a thai restaurant, I would think, is kind of an important ingredient. They also didn't offer it as a lunch special so, I opted for the vegetable pad thai (no egg). The lunch was priced reasonably at $7.95 and included either soup or salad. In the pictures, here on Yelp, showed an option of two fried spring rolls but they must no longer offer that because it wasn't an option on the lunch specials. I was also let down by this too, as the salad I opted for was very tiny and not too chilled (rather the dressing was a bit warm). The pad thai was actually rather good but I had to ask for a lime, which I thought was pretty standard to come with a pad thai dish. When I did ask the server, he brought over one tiny wedge, which looked really cheap. (Also, at times I felt like I was interrupting my server because he was sitting down eating with the other employees from the kitchen.) Overall, the pad thai was good and it's one place that's open on a Monday for lunch so it's worth it if you're on the east side & have a thai food craving.
(3)Francesca M.
The food at Bee's is delish. It is homey and hot, fresh ingerdients, and decently priced. The service is a little wanky. Sometimes you sit down and wait 2 monutes to order sometimes 25 minutes. Sometimes your water is immediately refilled and sometimes you have to ask twice. If you're a foody and thats your concern, Bee's is a great try.
(4)Chris C.
I think the owners must have seen the complaints about slow service because we had some of the promptest service I've ever seen. The crab rangoon was wonderful, though sweet (even without the delicious sweet & spicy sauce). The mango spring rolls were amazing and unlike anything I've had before. The Tom-Yum soup was incredibly fresh-tasting. I like the pineapple fried rice (with shrimp, raisins, cashews, and curry) but the ingredients didn't seem to sum to more than their parts. My partner had the pad thai, which was really great - some of the best she's had. Highly recommended, and a great addition to the Fox Point neighborhood. We will definitely be back to try everything else on the menu!
(5)Chris T.
It feels iffy to give a restaurant only 1 star, but according to Yelp, 2 stars represents 'Meh, I've had better' Well, almost every restaurant experience I've had has been better, so I feel justified in giving it a 1 star. In short, the food was worthy of 2.5 stars: I ordered spicy chicken, which was edible but didn't even have a trace of spice. It definitely satisfied my hunger, but that's mostly due to the fact that I was extremely hungry, which brings me to the service: The service was their most egregious flaw. From the time we ordered to the time we got our food, it took 1 hour. This was not only disappointing, but it was also a mystery -- how was this possible? Sure, we went during typical dinner time (7:30pm), but the place wasn't even packed with customers... it was moderately busy as one would expect at this time. Further, we never received any heads-up from the waitress as to the expected wait or reason why things were taking so long. I loooove Thai food, yet I see no reason to try this establishment again.
(1)Molly O.
YUM YUM YUM YUM! Looking for thai? Here you go. We've only had take out but its prompt and always correct. The ingredients are fresh and I was impressed. I recommend the wraps with mangoes. They come with this delicious light peanut sauce. It's just the right blend. The pad thai is amazing. They have really good dumplings. So everything I've had was great. The times we've been it was packed but I have seen it empty. Again we've only had take out but always friendly service and reasonable prices. I feel comfortable ordering anything here and I'm usually nervous with Thai food.
(5)Glen W.
Love the mango rolls, dumplings and peanut sauce! Very friendly staff, fair prices.
(5)Brian R.
Great food, friendly service all tucked into this great restaurant in the Fox Point neighborhood of the East Side. Fried dumplings were great as was the Pad Thai.
(4)Joseph M.
Went here with my wife for the first time yesterday. Nothing fancy inside, not cozy. Lots of people though at 7pm on a Friday night, which I would think is expected and not unusual. The food was good, but no better than some other good Thai places we've eaten at. The portions are small, and the prices high compared to what we have paid for the same entrees at other Thai restaurants in the area. Also, the wait was longer than we've experienced at other Thai restaurants too.
(2)Novi K.
The food was ok, but the service didn't meet my expectations. We waited over an hour for our food (after we placed our order), and the servers didn't fill us in until we inquired about the wait 50 minutes after ordering! The restaurant wasn't very busy when we sat down, so we're not sure what happened. When we finally did get our food, I was disappointed to see that my drunken noodle dish was merely a pad-thai dish doused in the drunken noodle sauce, rather than the sticky, flat egg-noodles typical for this dish. The vegetables in the dish weren't entirely cooked through, either, but maybe this happened because the chef felt rushed after we asked about the wait.... I feel bad leaving a so-so review, but this is my honest feedback about my experience at this restaurant. It could have just been a one-time fluke, so I hope you have a better experience if you give this place a try!
(2)Lukas W.
I was pleasantly surprised by Bee's--food was great! The portions were a bit small for the price, I felt, and my dish (the Broccoli Wok) could have used more spice but I suspect that might just be that dish. A friend got the roast chicken which was fantastic. Good place to bring a small group of people for a casual meal. Quick, friendly service and food came relatively fast.
(4)Jeanie G.
This place is seriously the best. I mean, really the best. Forget every other Thai restaurant in town. Forget every other Thai restaurant...everywhere (seriously, I love Thai food and have eaten at a billion Yelper-approved Thai restaurants in nearly every major city in the US. Bee's would just eat most of them alive, if, you know, they were pitted against each other in a battle to the death). The ingredients are so perfectly fresh, and everything is so flavorful and well-spiced here. The menu may look similar to others', but there are miles of difference between the quality of Bee's and the quality of food anywhere else. And the owners are so friendly and helpful and accommodating. Plus, I think there might be drugs in the pineapple fried rice--I want to eat it like every day, SERIOUSLY.
(5)Kringlos P.
Went here when it first opened and was under-whelmed. Recently paid another visit for take-out, and WOW! Truly incredible Thai food, the best and most fresh-tasting curry I have had around here. So if you visited along time ago and haven't been back, give it another chance! For an appetizer, try the golden puffs -- crisp, piping-hot pastry filled with a savory sweet potato filling. YUM squared.
(5)Holly S.
Bee's is a great addition to Ives Street - the in between neighborhood between Wickenden and Thayer. The place is clean and modest and the staff is attentive and very pleasant! The place was busy early on a Friday evening but not so much so that we had to wait. We didn't have to wait very long for our meals either. There were a couple of larger groups of college students and several more tables of couples. I've had the pad Thai at Apsara and Pakarang and Bee's is absolutely better. The ingredients are very fresh and the dish comes put piping hot. The crab Rangoon is hands down the best I've had with a hot creamy filling that actually has crab and herbs in it (why is it that so many places skip the crab in crab Rangoon?!). Bee's is our new go-to Thai place.
(5)Liya M.
Food is great though the Pad Kee Mao was on the oily side. Basil fried rice was very good and comforting. However, service was excruciatingly slow on a Sunday night so I will only be back with a book to read.
(3)Alex M.
Bee's is a welcome addition to the Providence Thai scene, in the old Ugly American building across from East Side Creamery/Captain Seaweed's on Williams and Ives. i will miss UA's deep-fried oreo, but can now at least indulge in a little deep-friend ice cream in its stead. the layout of the restaurant is essentially the same, very bright and orange w/a handful of tables and plenty of space. their prices are better than Lim's, comparable to Pakarang and not as good as Sawadee's. they do have lunch specials for $7-8: a smattering of generously portioned curries and noodle dishes accompanied by 2 small deep-fried spring rolls or vegetable soup. i don't read the menu before ordering at a new Thai restaurant since i always go w/my tried and true benchmarks. today i settled on one mango and one veggie spring roll to start--the mango roll came w/a great chili sauce and was extremely light, fresh, and delicious, while the spring roll came deep fried by default and was greasy but still good. they do have fresh veggie spring rolls, my own fault for not referencing the menu i suppose. this got me into trouble again when i whitishly ordered the drunken noodles, expecting pad kee mao. what came out had medium rice noodles instead of wide, w/o any bell pepper or broccoli and an unfavorable noodle:meat/vegetables ratio coated in a bland sauce. decent, but not what i was hoping for...Bee's calls their pad kee mao "spicy brown soy noodles" for us mzungus and their pad see ew "brown soy noodles". lesson learned! i'll be back to try the curries and [actual] pad kee mao soon. 3.5 stars, rounded to a 4.0 since every restaurant takes awhile to hit its stride and it was my own buffoonery that sabotaged this adventure~
(4)Robert G.
Get the thai style tom yum noodle soup. You have to ask for thai style otherwise it won't work (it's the one with the peanuts and scallions and ground chicken, not the American version that they also have). It is ridiculous how good the soup is, it actually scares me. It is so good that I lift the bowl to my face and make sure I have finished all the broth. I can't think of a reason why you wouldn't want to come here. Trust me, this soup can turn a bad day into a good one.
(5)Michael D.
Cannot begin to say how amazing this Thai food was...Mango spring roll, Pad Thai, Drunken Noodle!! Casual atmosphere, clean...Food was awesome!
(5)Turner A.
I just moved to Ives Street and noticed this quaint restaurant in Ugly American's former store front. I have to say, my meal was WONDERFUL! To start, I order a Thai iced tea which was delicious and the saffron tea was definitely a perk. For my entree I ordered the pumpkin with red curry. This meal was one of the best curries I have ever had! I highly suggest this new little restaurant!
(5)Steven And Nicole G.
Visited here for lunch around 4pm and was immediately greeted and given the choice to pick whatever seat we wanted. Was promptly asked for our drink orders and asked if we wanted anything to as a starter. We ordered the Steam Dumplings with chicken, that came out hot and fresh with a side of a nice light homemade soy sauce. My wife ordered the Pa-nang Curry with chicken and I ordered the Pad Thai with chicken. Holy crap! It was some of the best Pad-Thai I have eaten, and my wife says that the Pa-nang Curry was amazing, perfectly cooked. She has been trying to find Pa-nang curry in all of Rhode Island that is done right, and we found it, spot on! You will not be disappointed here!
(5)Karen L.
i changed my mind after i went back 3 times and had their tofu pad thai. al dente rice noodles seasoned just right w the perfect accompaniment of veggies. i've been wanting to try more items but i keep coming back for the same!
(4)Annette R.
Needed to try a new Thai place aside from Apsara. I must say I was very happy with Bee's Thai Cuisine. Seafood Madness was delicious. The Food had some awesome flavors. Place is very clean and very inviting. Priced we're very reasonable. I will be back!
(5)Goldie H.
The food is decent. Nothing great, and it's not super authentic tasting either. The spiciness of the foods is incredibly toned down and the food is also too sweet for my liking (in regards to Thai foods). Also, the papaya was too sweet, not spicy enough, and I'm not too sure how I feel about the boiled shrimp in it either. Overall, the food was good, but don't come here for an authentic thai food experience. I would recommend Pakarang, Thai Star, or Lim's Fine Thai.
(3)Kalin M.
Phenomenal food and even better service. We got the Tom-yum soup which was seasoned to perfection. Bee gave us a complimentary fried ice cream, which tasted divine. Love this place!ll
(5)Deborah G.
Phenomenal food! Everything was incredibly fresh and the price was just right. I was there with 3 friends we all ordered from the lunch menu and we had different things, I had pad thai, someone had drunken noodles, and coconut soup, and the mango spring roll. ALL VERY DELICIOUS AND FRESH!! Super cute place with great atmosphere and good service.
(5)Amy H.
The mango rolls are very refreshing. I loved the drunken noodles and pad thai too. Staff is friendly. I can see myself coming back often in the future.
(4)Mike F.
I have been here a few times already. The food is fresh tasting and really good. They have brown rice that I get, even though it it overpriced. You end up getting enough food. I usually get pumpkin red curry. I would definitely recommend this place
(5)F I.
Delicious fresh food, clean environment, and friendly service. Hands down the best Thai place around.
(4)Sheri L.
Stopped in here by accident...the noodle shop changed their hours and I saw this and pulled right over. Very glad I did. I tried everything with no additional spice, I think next time I will add some because everything was on the no-spice side probably because they know most american palate is weak. The soup they offer with the lunch, fresh veggies!! I got pad thai, my go-to dish in a new place. Again, super fresh, nice tender chicken and fresh sprouts aplenty, which I love! Next time I will beef up the spice. Am dying to try some apps and dinner items, so will definitely be back. The service was fairly slow, but the restaurant had most tables filled and only one server. The tea was good, but a little too much cream so I will ask for less next time. The only disappointment was the green tea ice cream. I LOVE green tea ice cream. For 3.50 it's a tiny little dish and zero flavor. Had my eyes been closed I would have thought it was vanilla, so I'd stay away from this from now on and focus on food. They should either get a new supplier for the ice cream, or add more flavor to it if they make it themselves. I'll definitely be back!
(4)Sonia G.
I've tried Bee's twice now, and waiting on reviewing before making sure it wasn't just a delicious fluke. There used to be a handful of Thai places walking distance from where I worked in New York City that were delicious, cheap, and had huge portions - the best when you're on a nonprofit budget! After moving to Rhode Island, I was disappointed in both the quality and price of Thai food; if the food is going to cost me more, I would hope it would be better quality. It never was. Until: Bee's! The Pad Thai - to me, the one dish that is ordered first as a sort of control group - is just what I wanted. There's been some flavor missing from the other Pad Thais I've ordered around here, but Bee's nails it. The noodles are neither too sticky nor too saucy, and the flavor is JUST right. Since then, I've also tried the ginger chicken, the red curry with tofu, and the mango spring rolls. The chicken was nicely cooked and the light ginger sauce was delectable. I was less fond of the tofu - I don't know if it's the type of tofu or how it's cooked. It was just alright. The red curry sauce, however, was pretty awesome. Fair warning: it's not spicy. I've had red curries that melt my face off, and I was actually surprised how little spice it had. That day I didn't really mind that it wasn't so...burny. But if you're looking for heat, you may want to ask for more. I'll definitely be trying more of the dishes. It's nice to have this place in the neighborhood.
(4)Brendan D.
i have enjoyed everything i ordered from bee's, including cuisines/flavors i have never enjoyed previously. Aside from their normal menu, i highly recommend their iced Thai tea, and crab rangoons
(5)c h.
Standard thai fare. The noodle dish I got was fine, just not that flavorful (one of the brown rice noodle dishes). I agree with Amy H.'s previous review, the mango rolls are real good - a fresh mango slice with a slice of avacado wrapped up in a rice wrapper with typical spring roll veggies.
(3)Jenni M.
Excellent lunch! I will be sure to come back. The food was fresh and the atmosphere was inviting. Thank you!
(5)Pam T.
Yum! This cute little restaurant in the middle of the Fox Point area where lots of college students live was a real treat. We are veteran Thai food diners, and Bee's served us some wonderful dishes on our first visit here. I have been thinking about the fabulous flavor of the creamy chicken mango curry every day since! My husband and son were equally pleased with Drunken Noodles and Spicy Brown Noodles with Pork, bursting with flavor and spiced up just right. The prices are reasonable, and it's BYOB which makes it even more of a bargain. The eatery, crisply painted with big canvas-wrapped photos of Thailand on the walls, has huge windows right on the street, so it's fun to watch the world go by.
(4)Peggy H.
Very yummy! They do things just right here. The pad Thai, fresh spring rolls, and bamboo chicken were delicious. Quick friendly service. A nice atmosphere. Bee's is a welcome addition to the neighborhood.
(5)Heather B.
Yum! Very fresh food and great service! I had spring rolls and drunken noodles, both of which were very good and well portioned. The menu had several options for vegetarians. While there is no alcohol on the menu I believe you can bring your own.
(4)Cristobal C.
I just love it. I've been here three times and it's fantastic, probably better than Apsara's.
(4)Jigyasha S.
Now let me warn you first, You'll get addicted to their food and there's no going back! By not going back, I mean you'll go there everyday. Their Pad Thai and Spicy Fried rice is my go-to meal now. Hands down, the best Thai food restaurant in Providence.
(5)Natasha B.
If I could possibly give ONE STAR to this place I would. DO NOT EAT HERE EVER!!!! After waiting 40 minutes the food arrived COLD. THE PORTION LOOKED LIKE LESS THAN A LUNCH PORTION. The soup was under-spiced, the curry was bland looking a pale yellow, and cashew chicken had ONE NUT in it. The staff bumbled at every move; no one was watching out for the patrons or each other. Oh and the chicken was tough like leather. Are you kidding me? Go to Pankarang or Lim's in Wayland Square. Go to Aspara for cheap and plentiful. This place won't last. Aspara is also BYOB. Aspara is crowded for a good reason. And both Lim's and Pankarang have Atmosphere!! My bill was 35 dollars. I'd rather eat at Sandwich Hut. Like Bees it's a family restaurant but it works. I'm sure Restaraunt Impossible will have to fix this place eventually. Oh, and Dok's across the street at least aims to please in a personal way. TAKE MY ADVICE, IF YOU ARE HUNGRY MOVE ALONG TO A MEMORABLE EVENING THAT IS ENJOYABLE. right now I'm seething from having a great appetite and having my gut and brain filled with a crappy meal. Do these people think about the food or do they think oh, it's the East side of Providence and people got lots of money to blow.

Bee's has just opened and I have only been once for lunch. I was very pleased the food I had, especially the green papaya salad. Good luck Bee's!

Bee's Thai cuisine is a welcoming restaurant (family owned and operated for several months now) in this part of College Hill. Although I am a picky vegetarian, I cannot comment on the rest of the menu but I will say that Bee make a very simple yet powerfully tasteful coconut milk soup with vegetables. I usually order this with fried egg rolls and two side orders of rice to drench the coconut soup with. I always have a great time coming in and having a chat with Bee. Her sons are very helpful to wait on tables and help clean around and stock the drinks and condiments. I can see her cousin and her mother cooking the food as well. Because its locally owned, and I know when Bee was working hard as a waitress at another restaurant, that I fully support her new business. I think she is adding variety to whats out there on Ives St. and I hope more small businesses follow the mainly college crowd on this part of town.
