This is the only place that we found that serves late night food and we were incredibly thankful, that alone gave them four stars. It just puzzles me why no other establishment in the center of Providence(none that we could find anyway) serves food late. Bar Louie is nestled ever so gently in a plaza down off the road, almost off the beaten path and if we didn't ask multiple people where it was we wouldn't have been able to find it. Walking in the atmosphere was certainly welcoming, great bar in the middle of the restaurant with plenty of seating, the baristas were incredibly friendly at 1:30 in the morning and asked us what we did all night as we were in Providence for a bachelor party. I can't recall what I had oddly enough, some sort of chicken sandwich I believe, a friend had flat bread... What is with Providence and their flatbreads, they are advertised so predominantly on the menus everywhere you go right on the front page. Anyway I digress, all the meals were delicious, maybe I had poutine? Doe you guys serve poutine or am I getting confused with someplace else? It was a long night... Anyway, Bar Louie is great, the prices were very reasonable, the food was great, friendly service at 1:30 in the morning, I will stop in again if I am there regardless of the time. Nice Job!! Mr. F

Went to Bar Louie for $1 Burger Night, but it quickly turned into $25 or so with drinks. I had a Mango Margarita, and my girlfriend had a Bar Louie Sangria. Our drinks took about 15 minutes to come back to us and they certainly weren't worth the wait. I didn't try hers, but she didn't finish it by the time we left. My drink, however, lacked any taste of mango, but had a strong taste of sugar water and tequila (yet the drink wasn't strong at all). The size of water glasses are small, and after waiting for ten minutes with my empty glass at the end of the table, I had to ask our server for more water. I give BL three stars because I love $1 Burger Night (the deal is only worth it in my mind if you get a beer or another cheap drink), and my previous visits have been good to watch games at. Will be back, but not for cocktails.

Another Lame Chain Glad to see the cumulative 2 1/2 stars for reviews. Just when I thought the Foxborough location couldn't be more mediocre, they open a new place in PVD. Somehow they have found a way to make an even lamer place. I still don't know why people go to these crappy chain themed restaurants??? The only good reviews I see is for $1 burger night, that tells you something. The place is always busy because for some reason people have been brain washed to think this place is cool, when really they are getting dolled up frozen food and plastic dimly lit atmosphere. My take: If you want to go and wait for 20 minutes to overpay for measured crappy specialty drinks and be forced to believe that your being served homemade food that is really mediocre frozen crap, than this is your place. Just take a look at the pictures that people have posted, does that food look good? Unless I have blurry eyes, I have to say no. I am usually open minded about restaurants, but this place is just lame. Thanks

Awesome food, beer, and service! Outdoor seating was nice and indoors was open air. Awesome place to grab a beer after work.

I selected to go here because it was open late night on a Sunday. I met a friend for drinks, sat outside by the fire which was nice. Had a mango margarita which was delicious, no food. Service was sporadic even though place as fairly empty. Asked for check to pay and waitress never came back to get credit card so paid cash and left.

Delicious Martinis! Awesome music! Great ambiance! Oh and the only place I found open with food right now. This is my first time to set foot in this city and I was starving. Everything looks delicious! Eat Drink Be Happy is their mantra. Who would not just love a place like that?!?!

Don't get me wrong, I do enjoy coming to Bar Louie and I've never had a bad experience, but nothing is really pushing me to go back. Except their Bloody Mary's. They make amazing Bloody Mary's. I've been to Bar Louie during all of the times on the bar/restaurant spectrum. I've been for quiet lunches, busy dinner time, and packed Saturday nights until 1AM. I enjoy the food and the drinks have always been great (except for one awful sangria special that tasted like juice). I am not into the going out thing anymore, but when I went late on a Saturday night it was crowded, as expected, and difficult to get drinks from the seemingly pissed off bartender. My friends and I basically stood around and drank. It was perfectly average. I like the atmosphere. It's not too fancy but not too casual. What sucks is the parking, which is expected at any Downcity restaurant or bar. The place in general isn't bad, but I wouldn't demand a friend try it out. I'd eventually like to go to the Foxboro location during warmer months and sit on the rooftop deck, but Providence is just OK in my book.

Decent drinks and food!

Service was ok. Didn't get checked up on enough. It wasn't overly crowded and anytime we talked to one of the female bartenders to order she seemed annoyed. Prices are really decent. Decor is modern. The drinks were good and they have large amount of beers on tap. We ordered the chicken nachos and bruschetta pomodoro. They were really good (I'm sensitive to certain food so the nachos were too spicy for me but my friends loved them.) But it took too long for the apps to come out.

It's funny that two stars = "Meh. I've experienced better." because I've been to Bar Louie at Patriot Place and I've experienced way better, and I never feel "Meh" when I go there. However, in Providence, it feels all wrong. Their beer selection is sub-par, especially considering the number of local breweries and the offerings nearby establishments have on their menus. I have little experience with the food here, so I won't comment on it. I'm always disappointed by the cold ambiance and lack of server interaction. Every time I've visited it has taken minutes before any acknowledgement, and usually several more minutes until we are asked to place any kind of order. We only end up here if RiRa, Luxe or Union Station's bars are too full, and after one drink we remember why we never want to come here again.

Exactly what you'd expect from a bar/restaurant in this area of Providence. A bit overcrowded and hectic, but with decent food and drinks at a relatively reasonable price for the area. Came here on Saturday night for dinner with a friend and had a pretty good meal, some yummy strawberry sangria that was actually very reasonable when you buy by the pitcher (it was $10/glass or $18 for a pitcher which contained at least three glasses!), and a decent atmosphere. Sure, it was loud, and service wasn't fantastic, but it was fine for what we were looking for and what we expected. Side note - if someone from Bar Louie is reading this - a suggestion: don't let people seat themselves on a busy weekend. Seems like a stupid way to save money by not needing a host. It goes a long way to have a host seat people at a clean table that they know is unoccupied. No one likes to seat themselves.
(3)Lauren A.
Wednesday nights from 5-close is dollar burger night. Once you add toppings it's more if a three dollar burger, but still a great deal. They have big flat screen TVs here if that's your deal. I came here during the World Cup to catch match. Wednesday nights are kind if crazy, but the staff are nice despite the crowds. The food is kind of meh. The beer selection is nothing to write home about, though I do appreciate a cold PBR for a buck to go w my burger.
(3)Sydney K.
I have been a few times for both food and drinks. I think the important thing to disclose about Bar Louie is that the food tastes more akin to chain restaurants. If I were ranking Bar Louie among chain restaurants, I may be more generous. However, in Providence, where there is so much to eat, Bar Louie doesn't have the "wow" factor. I wouldn't want to go on a date here or have a special evening, but the food is alright. The location is great and is a good place to meet up after work.
(3)Joshua G.
I'm eating the voodoo chicken. One piece of burnt dry chicken and some cheap packaged kilbasa and white rice that wasn't cooked right. Service is okay. I don't know it's a chain but come on. The food is garbage. I'm so sorry to say this but I don't want to lie.
(1)Liz M.
Wow glad I didn't read the reviews before we went here or I may have not gone. Maybe because it's a quiet night and not get busy but our experience was a pleasant one. Shannon was our server and she had someone training with her. We were greeted promptly And told to sit wherever we want. We had nonalcoholic drinks of watermelon fizz and blueberry lemonade. They were good and not too sweet. My friend had a side salad and it was huge. We both had buffalo blue cheese burgers and they were ok. Not fabulous but ok. I eat a lot of burgers and I think it was just maybe a cheaper ground beef than im used to. The best part is the tater tots. They are covered in a spicy queso sauce with jalepenos and bacon and gardienire. It is well worth it to go just for the tots ! I'm surprised by the service complaints because we had a great experience. I will definetly like to go again and try something new. One caveat parking is ridiculously expensive. I had my Ticket validated and it was still 11$ for an hour and a half.
(4)Bebe B.
The location is convenient, right by the mall, etc. It does have a parking lot, however, you have to pay, that's ok. The building is lovely, now everything else. It was a slow Saturday, a gaggle of waitresses hover by the front, to be told to sit wherever. Fine, we sit. Server was pleasant enough/meh, took our order. In the meantime, we start to grow suspicious, why is this place so slow? Made the mistake of going on here (Yelp) and reading reviews. couldn't agree more. The food was terrible, my shredded pork was a Pork Salt Lick, YUCK! Chicken Voodoo, DRY, etc. Bottom line, if you want a drink, maybe go here? Food, if you want microwaved sodium bombs get a Hungry Man Dinner.

I've come here on Tuesdays for the $1 burgers! Of course, every topping is an additional cost but still it's good for what it's worth! I also get their $1 beer! It's a fun time because I usually come with some friends. Service is good, I've had some waiters better than hours but for the price the service is certainly decent! Also, we usually get a half off appetizer too! :) This place is spacious and clean! Bar is nice here as well! We usually get here right when the specials around 6pm. Of course, by the time we end up leaving the place is much more crowded!

This place is awful. I've been to Bar Louie more than once, but it has seemed to go down hill since it first opened. It had been a while since I went until the other night. The service was horrible, our waitress seemed like she was on coke or something. My boyfriend was told when she brought out everyone's food that what he ordered was no longer available - so don't you think you'd tell him when you found out instead of waiting until you brought out everyone else's food so he could order something else and have it cooked in time? Nope, of course not. Aside from that the food tasted like crap. I had the portobello burger, and the mushroom looked like a piece of old tire - dark, flat, and chewy. Everyone else at my table didn't enjoy their food either. And we are not the type of people to be picky, we usually are pretty laid back and I've never had to write a review like this for any restaurant before. Then after we paid the bill, the waitress ran after us outside and insisted the bill was short, which no way that could happen because everyone overpaid a little. She actually chased us out and when we thew more money to get her off our back, she was like "Well that covers just the bill, not the tip" Um, excuse me, but you have some balls to be saying you even deserved the tip after your attitude and insisting we didn't pay enough, which we DID because everyone had their credit card receipt with the amount they paid, and it added up to more than the bill. She probably wanted the extra money so she could pocket it and buy herself some more coke and a fake tan. We were all too tired to argue quite frankly and wanted nothing more than to get out of that crap hole. I am NEVER going back to that place again, they have lost our business for sure. Get it together Bar Louie!

You may note another reviewer who awarded just one star on the same date I'm writing this. I'm fairly certain that I was seated at the table next to him - he came in with a sizable group during the U.S. World Cup game and bemoaned the fact that in 90 minutes, his group only received two orders of chips and a round of drinks and was unable to order real food. I would say that his experience still turned out better than mine. I was part of a party of five and planned to get a decent lunch while keeping an eye on the soccer game. The place was crowded, but not jam-packed. We were told to seat ourselves as the game was getting started, and things were initially promising as our server delivered the first round of beverages within two minutes. Unfortunately, that was the last we saw of her for the next 45 minutes - a time that is easily verified since it was halftime of the soccer game. We placed our lunch order, which was a process in itself. The server had to come back to the table twice to double-check an order of a chicken quesadilla, burger and fries to make sure she had it correct. We waited, waited and waited. We joked that it would be easier to run next door to Luxe Burger - a great lunch option, by the way - order there and take the food back to our table at Bar Louie. The joke was on us, though, when it turned out that we could have done exactly that. After an hour-and-a-half, one member of our party had enough and went to track down the server to find out what could possibly be going on. Magically, the cup of soup and appetizer showed up. When we began to get up to leave (a member of our party was pushing it really close to an afternoon meeting), we were told that our plates would be right out. Then she mentioned that they had run out of tuna and that the guy who ordered it would need to choose something else. But then, again, magically, the plates come out, including the tuna. Once it arrived, the food was underwhelming at best - as bland a burger as I've ever had, and certainly not one worth a two-hour wait. No one in our party felt that the food was anything better than pedestrian. When it came time to pay the bill, at no time did the server apologize for this disaster. All she could tell us was that it wasn't her fault. It may well not have been, but it also won't be my fault when I never return to this place again.

Awful, Terrible service and worse food ! Wait staff walk by you and don't even ask if you want anything. You are always in need of something and they could careless. Bad night out here
(1)Christian R.
1/2 priced apps are 1/2 the normal size. Food priced for apps are unreasonably high. Won't turn up sports game audio even if it's the World Series, Super Bowl or World Cup.... Yet all TVs will have the sports on and all patrons are watching the game. (They say they aren't a sports bar) Beer was good but many places serve good beer. I don't really see a reason to come back unless I'm forced. Waitress did a good job.

On a Friday after work we dropped in for dinner. The restaurant was humming and alive. We had been to Bar Louie for lunch prior to this time and ate a couple of burgers that were good. Our sever is polite but seemed either distracted or new. None the less it wasn't a big issue. We ordered the tots app, the shrimp skewers app and a couple of drinks to start. The tots app was just wrong in every way. So here it is - a bed of greasy tater tots covered in a fake cheese like Velveeta with bacon bits on it - took one bite and was immediately sent back, yuk! The shrimp skewers were good. Spicy, so be warned but tasty. I ordered the fish tacos for dinner. What a disappointment, the tacos were so small, like tiny small tacos. They were in a soft tortilla and when I picked up the first one it crumbled all over my plate! Like the tortilla was super stale. The second did the same thing, the rice on the side was under cooked. Really not edible so I sent that back too. The tots and fish tacos were taken off the check and that will be it for Bar Louie for the foreseeable future.

Yeah. This place isn't worth trying. The service seems like an afterthought and sadly the food doesn't compensate. The burgers are truly flavorless and taste like a microwaved burger from the frozen isle. The toppings were equally bland and not fresh. The only redeemable part came in the fries and tots which were flavored well enough. Do not come here for food, or probably at all.

I went to Bar Louie last month and left right after I walked in because the restaurant was completely smokey. Literally, hard to even see. I went again last night and it was the same type of smoke everywhere, but I stayed. Apparently there must be something wrong with a vent above the grill in the kitchen because no matter how busy a restaurant is, it shouldn't be that smokey. They clearly don't care about the safety of their staff and customers. I walked by the kitchen and it was so smokey, you couldn't even see straight. Anyway, I ordered a turkey burger. 45 minutes later they gave me a beef burger, which I would have eaten anyway, however it was so burned, it was inedible. The burger was literally black. I had to send it back and it took another 30 minutes for the new one. The bartender however was really nice.
(2)Brent R.
Poor service all around. Drinks were not great, either.
(1)J. M.
I came here for a friend's birthday dinner with about 13 other people. Service was subpar. Birthday cake was delivered to the wrong person. Food was mediocre at best. It was basically Applebees food, +15% price upcharge. I'll probably only ever come here again for their $1 burger day.
(2)Mike P.
The chain needs to rethink its strategy. Just because its in a good location, it doesn't mean customers should accept erratic service, mediocre food and so-so drinks. It's a shame to give one star, but this place is not deserving of anything over that. I have been twice and there are so many other deserving restaurants in Providence. The corporate office clearly needs to examine what their mission is. How many bad reviews can they take?
(1)Aaron M.
The Philly burger was really good, and the loaded fries was a nice addition. I was really disappointed that I had to wait over 20 minutes for my food on a night that the bar was not even at 50% capacity, but the good food gets at least three stars.
(3)Cameron G.
Straight awful place. And their service is awful. And god forbid I can smoke an E-Cig in here. Prudes.
(1)Robert S.
Went there for the $1 Burger Tuesday. The Beef burger was juicy, moist and tasty. It comes with lettuce and a toasted bun. Other toppings range from 25-75 cents (cheese, onions, tomato, sauces, etc0. While we were there, several appettizers were 1/2 off, so we had a flatbread and a quesadilla. Overall the food was good, I would go back. Some of the drinks are pricey, but if you are on a budget get a cheap beer and savour a good burger for a buck !!

By far the WORST place to go EVER! I dine out a lot and NEVER had such a ridiculous experience! BEWARE! We came in with a group of 6 around 6 and told the hostess that we would be expecting a few more to join us for drinks after they were out of work. We made sure we knew that we were planning on having dinner, a few apps, and have celebratory cocktails. She sounded very enthused - there wasn't much action going on in here and we were it! So our server, Charlene, who goes by "Char" informed of us of how wonderful she was, I open stores for corporate, blah, blah, blah. Not only do I not care that you are a corporate "opener" - but your abundant pride is borderline narcissistic. Anyway... we order some drinks. A bit overpriced for some pureed fruit libations - so cutting edge that they know how to use a blender. The food was decent - I actually really enjoyed the light bites and the tapas style sharing we had going on. Now for the annoyance... this "opener" of a server "Char" - what a nightmare! After our appetizers were served.... she returned to the table to ask us if we were ready for the check. Um.... obviously not. We all still appetizers in front of us and had yet to order dinner... never mind that we were planning on enjoying the lounge to celebrate a friend's promotion. 10 more minutes go by.... *eerie music plays* "Char" returns... "Hey guys! Are you ready to wrap it up? Can I bring you the check?" NO!! You can NOT bring us the check! We still haven't been asked if we'd like to oder our meals yet.... and can we please get another round of drinks?? I considered that they might need the table for another party.... but alas, there was not a lot of people in here - and they definitely weren't spending as much money as we were! So finally she asks us if we would like to place a dinner order while waiting for our friends to join us. We do. We wait. It comes. Hooray. The food was alright, nothing spectacular. The apps would be better served as main courses in my opinion - they were the same size and price - and had much more of a presentation. 10 more minutes go by.... you guessed it! "Char" is back! ...and guess what she wants to know? "Are you guys ready for the check?" I wanted to scream. Does "Char" not speak English? We all had half a sandwich in our mouths and full drinks.. does it look like we are ready for the check? So we asked her if this was the end of her shift and perhaps she needed us to close out our tabs. If so, we would have, and asked for another server - "No" she said, "I'm just trying to make sure you guys know I'm still here" - As if we could forget. -_- So another 10 more minutes go by and we were confirming that 3 more guests would be joining us at the bar for drinks to celebrate our friends big promotion! At this point, we had all had maybe 2 drinks... because our "opener" was SOOO attentive. This time, our dear friend "Char" walked by the table and plopped down the check without a word. How rude! We decided... let's pay up and we'll go next door where there are civilized people! So you guessed it, her tip wasn't going to be anything special - she didn't deserve it. So after we split the bill into partial cash first and the rest on 3 cards, we were ready to go.... but "Char" decided she was going to lay out all 3 of the credit card receipts and remark on what she was left for a tip. Char: "That's all you guys are leaving me? That's real great!" Our table: "Is she serious right now?" Char: "Whatever." Naturally, we decided to seek out the manager, Joshua, and explain to him what was going on. We saw "Char" talking to him over in the corner throwing her hands in the air like a crazy person. He then proceeds to our table to hear what is going on. We explain to him and he seems very nice and apologetic. Then he comes to her defense "She's my star server!" He bought us a round of drinks and free appetizer coupons - because I'm DYING to go back. "Char" was now in street clothes and sitting at a table across the restaurant with the manager and shooting us dirty looks. We decided to leave. As we stopped outside, the swirly door begins to move and out comes "Char" with her hand braced against her chest. "This is me!" she exclaims. She then begins to argue with us telling us that she is an excellent server and this is her career! In the midst of her argument, she tells us that we were very professional to her manager and we only gave good feedback that would help her to become a better server in the future. She then literally wipes the drool from her mouth and tells us all about how she is a successful 39 year old and "I only had one drink" - are you kidding me?! This woman was now drunk! She continued to argue with us and my friends and I tried avoiding her (pretending to text, etc.). She continued ranting in a drunken stupor until we walked away in search of a better place. Will NEVER go back! BEWARE!

I went out last night to this place. I was not impressed. I have been to the Foxboro location, but this was a entirely different experience. I ordered the voodoo chicken. It was just gross. The chicken looked as if it was grilled in the morning. It was just dry. The rice was obviously instant rice in a bag they left out all day. The sauce was really greasy. I hardly return my plate butI had to. I ordered a burger. It was much better, but not the best I ever had. My date had a wrap and wanted to send back his for dry chicken. The only reason this place received 2 stars is because the manager deducted 10% off the bill. Yup that's it. My tip for th his place is to stop cutting corners and try fresh food and cook to order.
(2)Scott C.
Came here for $1 Burger Night last week and was overall disappointed with my experience. So here are my 2 cents on the matter. The story begins with a very empty dinning area, so we sit right down. After we were seated no waitress came over for roughly 10 minutes. We were getting ready to leave when someone at another table went to get the waitress since they hadn't been served either. The waitress finally came over and never apologized and seemed more annoyed that she had to take our order. I got the Turkey Burger, which was actually really good. Although it was $1 Burger Night that only includes the burger no toppings and no sides so my burger came out to be roughly $3.50 with no fries which is still a great price. We also got the Spinach and Artichoke dip which was microwaved at its peak of freshness and the bowl it came in was only 1/2 full. I think they left the chips out a month too long since they tasted super stale. At the end of the day the service was terrible but the burger was great. If it wasn't for the majority of the experience being awful the rating would have been higher. That is a very Yogi Berra type line. Try it if you want but there are so many other great restaurants in the area you might want to try.
(2)Benjamin J.
I've gone here three times since it opened, and it's become one of those places you kind of forget. Their food is meh, a little pricey, but for the area, its understandable. Have mostly had appetizers here, so can't rate too much on their food. Drinks are average tasting, average prices for the area. Service is all over the place. Had great service one time; another time horrible service. I'll probably come back here at some point in time, but there are so many other comparable places with a better atmosphere and food.
(2)Ashley C.
I don't often review establishments unless they are amazingly good or awful and this place was absolutely AWFUL. I am writing this after my second visit. My first visit was with 7 other girls. We sat for about 20 mins before being approached by a server. We ordered appetizers and drink and 30 mins later, still hadn't received them. We approached the bartender to inquire and 15 mins later, still nothing. Once again, I approached the bartender and they finally got the attention. We decided to leave since we hadn't been served and the manager gave us two $25 comp cards. This past Tuesday we all returned as a party of 6 this time to give it another shot and use our $50 in comps. Omg, it was even worse. Server was not attentive AT ALL! Forgot so many things, including our drinks; a hot coffee drink I ordered came out ice cold twice and she made no effort to rectify this issue. Food came out, we asked for mustard, ketcup and hot sauce and never received it. The waitress for the most part was sitting at a table with what looked like to be her friends just chatting. Horrible service, horrible food and awful atmosphere. I will NEVER return. Even for the $50 off we had in comps, it's still wasn't worth it. I would rather pay any amount somewhere else not to endure this place again. It really should be shut down and probably will be before we know it. Beware of this place! Do not go!! If I could rate it a zero, I would! Luckily, all my friends and I work in the service industry as servers, bartenders and restaurant managers so we still tipped this awful server even though she deserved nothing!
(1)Lauren P.
The only reason this place does not get a one star review is because the manager is a nice guy. Came here before seeing a play at PPAC. Ordered a couple drinks, appetizer and dinner First, I ordered the spinach dip. It took about 20 minutes to come out. The waitress was apologetic, so I didn't mind Then, I ordered a wedge salad with chicken. I couldn't eat it the salad was so wilted. Also, ordered the pasta. It was literally cold. Unacceptable. We sent it all back. The manager apologized and did not change us for anything, which was exactly what he should have done. He did not try to make excuses, which I appreciated. Unfortunately, we were unable to have a nice dinner before the play as planned and ended up getting pizza to go since the Bar Louie experience took so long. Really disappointed since I hear the one in Foxboro is pretty good. Won't be coming back, especially now that I know everything is just microwaved, or in out case, not. Too many great places to eat in providence to waste time here. There's a reason it's called "bar" Louie, they don't specialiZe in food, I should have known that.
(2)Emmy M.
There is one reason to come to Bar Louie in Providence: Dollar Burger Night. We've made it a habit of coming here Tuesday nights all summer long for the endless possible combinations to make with their dollar burger menu. My favorite so far: grilled chicken breast with pepper jack, fried onion strings, and either barbeque sauce or pesto mayo. Not fancy, and certainly not creative in the vein of the many, many other good restaurants to dine at in Providence, but it hits the spot when it comes out to be $2.25, toppings and all. Pair it with a $1 PBR and you're set. Service here is really hit and miss (well, mostly miss). Our favorite server Danielle, however, is fantastic: kind, always there when you need something, and more than happy to fix a problem if your order doesn't come out right from the kitchen. Which happens quite frequently on Dollar Burger Night. We've probably gone a good ten times, and perhaps six of those times, there was a mistake on our order- whether it was the wrong kind of "burger" (the options being: beef, chicken, turkey, or portobello), or missing toppings. Many times this was accompanied by a 30+ minute wait for food. Beware of buying additional things off the menu because you think you can afford them after dollar burgers. The prices of the appetizers and drinks aren't listed on the menu, and can be quite expensive. We often get tater tots here because they're crispy and delicious, but another time we ordered the calamari, and for $8 we got a couple of pieces of calamari served perched in a paper cone... whose bottom half was full of lettuce. Lesson learned: stick to the dollar burgers.

Went here with a friend before going to see a band at RiRa. We usually dine there but we figured we'd change it up a bit. Our waitress was friendly and answered all of our questions regarding some menu items. We started off the the meatball appetizer which sadly featured frozen meatballs you would get at the market. The spread looked nice but home-made meatballs would have made it a home run. For my meal I got a burger which was undercooked for my medium well liking and the tots were nothing special, just tots... maybe I was wrong for expecting something different. It took quite a while for us to get our bill at the end as well. Overall it wasn't terrible, but I'll stick with the irish from here on out.

Very fun place right close to providence place and next to Capital Grille. We visited twice in a four day weekend. Very friendly wait staff (Trish!) - fun selection of drinks and yes - you can order food up until close time! A must visit if you are staying at the Marriott Courtyard. Try the whiskey cake for dessert!

Went to Bar Louie for a few drinks with three of my friends last Saturday night. They had a DJ, someone said that's not normal there but it should be, the music was great and it was a really fun atmosphere. The drinks were expensive. $10.00 for tiny martinis and pretty small margaritas. Instead of ordering expensive glasses of wine we just went with a bottle of Canyon Road Merlot which at $17.00 for the bottle was pretty affordable. We didn't eat dinner but one of my friends did order one of their flat breads and they said it was really good. The service was a little slow but overall we had a fun night, I'd go back again!

Awesome! Done and done! Okay, hon! Absolutely! I've finally met the perkiest server in the world. I've never seen such a huge smile. This young lady gave me the impression that her manager was allowing amphetamine use at work. If you've seen the movie L.A. Story and recall Sarah Jessica Parker's character, you'll know what I mean. Bouncy, never stood still, very interested in her guests. I'll bet she's a helluva good time at a party. As an aside...if you've not seen that film, rent it and watch it. Great flick! Had the ribeye with tots and snow peas. Good choice. Flavorful dish with no need for A-1 or any sort of seasoning. A nice dinner before returning to The 860â„¢ for work. My traveling companion had a wrap that she enjoyed. But she raved about the chocolate cake for dessert. A huge slice of chocolate heaven, with sauce drizzled upon it. Amazing looking piece of cake...and it tasted fabulous. We ate outside, enjoying the street scenes of the beautiful people passing by. My companion had a nice talk with a couple who recognized her. I'm surprised our server didn't bounce her self into a frenzy of excitement when we walked in as she recognized us immediately. All in all, a good night. We'll be back.

This is one of my favorite bars! Always has awesome atmosphere and great music. They always have plenty of attentive friendly bartenders on so you don't wait long at all for refills. The restaurant is very nice too. It's nicely decorated, very comfortable booths, and the food rocks! The bathrooms are very clean and modern. The crowd is mixed which is nice .. it's not all young or all old .. there's a little of both. Great place to bring a date or a group of friends. If you haven't figured it out yet I HIGHLY recommend. Check it out .. you won't be disappointed.

Excellent drinks, Elliott's pepper is very good. The food is excellent and the staff is very attentive and polite.

Had a good burger although not as good as the Luxe burger. Waitress was excellent - she was really busy but made sure to check in with us including refilling our drinks at just the right time. A good place to go.

In Sub-Rural delight, Foxboro, I never thought I'd encounter a "Boston Bar". Despite the no-reservation policy, we had no trouble getting a table for four Friday night at 7:00pm (by 8pm there would have been a wait). Our waitress was very personable and gave her suggestions for gluten-free appetizers and wine selection. Then we set to conversation! Appetizer of Truffle Butter & Parmesan Popcorn was finger-lickin' OK. Certainly a serving size capable of being shared by four. Meanwhile, we sipped on wine, beer, and (personally) The Fizz martini. Martini was served in a rocks glass (huh?) and was refreshingly light and sweet. My round 2 beverage of choice: the Pomegranate Margarita; deliciously potent with a sugar rim - had my cheeks rosy in no time! For my entree: Grilled Veggie sandwich (with a modest fry side : $9) was completely satisfactory. Juicy and savory with the contrasting texture from the greens (and NO sloppy drippings!). The beau order the BBQ pulled pork sandwich (thank goodness it wasn't a first date, because that meal WAS sloppy). He reported that it was delicious, though slightly embarrassing to consume when surrounded by clubby types. As the night went on the lights got a little lower, the music got a little louder, the outfits....a little smaller. A buff bouncer came to our table to ID us (again? - but we were already carded, and on our second cocktail order!). Then the music.got.louder. It was impossible to have a conversation, so our group disbanded at 10pm. I was surprised by this scene shift; I must say, the loud pulsing music isn't my idea of a nice dinner out with friends. Perhaps the dining environment is more accommodating during the week. Perhaps you're into loud Friday nights (great drinks, great little plates menu, great beats). Perhaps this is one of the best "chain" 'raunts I've visited (being that the menu is actually delicious and the staff actually appears to have souls AND personality). Perhaps.....I will return (?). Either way, this isn't a place I'd bring anyone under 21 or over 45. [[to be continued...?]]

Food wise, this place is great. I go pretty much every week, and on the rare occasion that I end up getting something other than a turkey burger (amazing by the way) , I have always thought it looked and tasted great. The chefs do great work. Cost wise, even though the menu prices look high, they have good deals throughout the week which balance it out. The service...that's a little different. A friend of mine and I go every Tuesday, which is a very busy night, so I am not too concerned about longer waits and stressed servers. Even still, we have had nights that we left incredibly disapointed. HOWEVER, if you are lucky enough to have a waitress named khirah, the service is great. Even on the stressful, high paced nights she makes sure you're totally taken care of, and does so with a great attitude. If shes made aware of anything wrong, she will find a way to remedy the problem before you even need to ask. So basically, I do recommend bar louie...but just be sure to request khirah as your waitress.

Loved the truffle popcorn and the veggie wrap with fries. It would be awesome if they would not use styrofoam for their takeout containers. so unnecessary Update 5/25--So I stop in again for the veggie wrap with salad this time, the truffle popcorn, and the hummus appetizer. Wrap was good but had some undercooked carrots in it. salad was overdressed and bland. The hummus appetizer is really good but could use some more veggies, cucumbers and pita isnt very balanced. I would also get it without tapenade just because I don't like it in general. So I eat my wrap thinking I made a healthy decision until I look it up online later. If you need to make a veggie wrap 1000 calories and over 70grams of fat, you don't know what you are doing. This deters me in the future and now I feel irritable that I ate all that. It is deceptive and is the exact reason I don't trust most restaurants when trying to eat healthy. When you order a veggie wrap, it should be healthy and why doesn't this business post their nutrition info online like most chains do?

I had to read the guidelines before writing this review, that's how offended I was by my experience at Bar Louie (Providence). Went last night (Thursday) and it was easy to find a seat, not a hectic night at all for the bartender. My friend and I ordered a couple of local brews and the bartender said we needed a card to start a tab and seemed angry about it because we weren't ordering food. We said we would pay cash as we went (turned out to be a good decision). Handed her $20 got back $5 in change. Both beers are brewed within the state so that seemed high. Not to mention she got the order wrong; mine ended up being a dark import. I drew her attention to it and she returned with the right beer. I asked her the price of the beers because they still seem high in price. She said "they're both $6.25" which seemed high to me, but that aside, she still shorted us in the change. She couldn't have been any (keeping in the review guidelines) "snippier" towards us. She slapped down 50 cents and said "HERE! Happy Now?!" Keep in mind, there wasn't anyone else calling for her attention. There were no other drinks being served during this transaction. We left 90% of our beer and walked out, that's how offended we were. The feeling is we would have been screwed on the tab if we left a card. Just rounding up prices and expecting customers not to pay attention. Pros: Nice atmosphere. Clean establishment with a contemporary slightly upscale feel. Cons: Service, price, and the apparent lack of supervision. Not sure if it was a slow night because it was a Thursday, or because word is getting out about how the customers are treated.

Service is hit or miss but the food is pretty good. Outdoor seating is nice in the summer. It's also a great place to sit at the bar and catch the game after work.
(3)Jeff M.
What do you get when you combine a lackadaisical bar staff, mediocre drinks, and a loud, lost and bubbly waitress? You'll have to tell me, because I wasn't sticking around long enough to find out. Really, really bad.
(1)Sarah C.
Pretty decent food and friendly service. I like going here to grab a drink with some friends. They have $1 burgers on Tuesday nights, but that is just for a plain old burger, all the toppings cost extra.
(3)Isabella S.
I went for dollar burger night on Tuesday and it was pretty great! The service was excellent and the appetizers were great! The nachos and hummus plate were delicious. The burger was a little dry but everyone else loved theres.
(4)Andrew S.
Worth going just to have lunch Shannon at the bar. She's famous in Providence; ask about her.
(5)Dante L.
I can't believe I'm yelping right now but I have to vent about this place so I downloaded the app. I've been here 4 or 5 times now because I like the well lighted low volume level that allows me to actually hang out with the people I go there with. Plus the TVs are pretty nice. But it is unreal how terrible the service is there. If you order a beer and a water be prepared to wait at least 10 - 15 minutes even if the place is empty. Also been prepared to only get one, there is absolutely no chance you get both. But tonight was above and beyond the normal. ( maybe because I actually ordered food) after having to give the waitress a pen so she wouldn't "mess up our order" she some how got just about the entire order wrong. Then she was some how completely confused when we didn't want the food she brought even though she remember we ordered something different. Love the bar Louie in Tampa and outside Boston but Providence is nothing like them. Never going back.

Stopped in here for dinner and drinks with some friends last week. The place was pretty dead. The hostess told us to pick any table, so we did. It had a few shot glasses from the last party that was never cleaned up... We sat down and started to catch up on our latest shenanigans. A few minutes later the waitress came over and we ordered some drinks, and we asked for menus... A good 15 minutes went by before we saw our menus or cocktails. We start to look it over, 20 minutes later she shows up again and we order... and order more drinks. Who knows when this crazy will be back. We split an order of Bavarian Pretzel Sticks. They where addicting! For dinner I ordered the Fried Louie Burger with BBQ sauce. The burger was decent, didn't really excite me, very bland chain quality meat. Sad really. What really turned my rating to a one star was the awful waitress. Where does this girl disappear to? The service was terrible. 40 minute wait for our food? There was nobody in the restaurant! After we had eaten, and the waitress was clearing our table, she took my half consumed drink and put trash in it. I then told her I wasn't done with it and she hands it back... like I'm going to drink it with the straw wrappers in it. I think our waitress was on something. I mean really? I told her I wanted another one and she gave me an attitude like it was my fault. another ten minutes later she shows up with another one. I didn't even drink it. I went to the bar and ordered another one. The bartender knew what he was doing. Fast and efficient... not slow and rude. Maybe I'm just being over dramatic... and maybe I cry inside when somebody is abusing my cocktail. Regardless... Bar Louie and I are breaking up. Forever...

I had the pleasure of going to Bar Louie for a ladies night out and had a great time! I had been to the Bar Louie in Foxboro but didn't know what to expect in RI. It was a little louder than a typical restaurant/bar but we enjoyed great music, a fun, steady crowd of people and it's an overall great addition to providence. This place is unique and I hope it is successful - it certainly seemed busy when we were there!
(4)Michaela C.
Will not be returning. Terrible service, small portions, and overpriced! We went around 10pm on a Saturday night that also happened to be a Waterfire night. It wasn't crazy busy and we were told we could sit ourselves so we found a table outside. It took awhile for our waitress to come over and it took even longer for her to come back to take our order and bring our drinks. We ordered a pitcher of the strawberry lemonade sangria which I do not recommend. The pitcher was full of ice and the cups she brought were also full of ice. We paid $18 for watered down sangria. It was terrible. We also ordered a dessert to split, which was good but nothing special. While we were eating the table next to us left and shortly after the waitress proceeded to tell two parties they could sit there. Obviously that ended with some unhappy customers. In short, if you want terrible service and watery, expensive alcohol, this is the place to go.

Worst experience I've ever had. I've never had a restaurant treat me so horribly. I went there at 9:30pm on a Tuesday night. It was a little busy but not busy enough to get ignored. The host at the door told me to seat myself someone would come to clean the table in a few minutes. I sat down and waited 5 minutes no one ever came. I waited a little more no one came. So I went and asked if someone would clean the table. The waitress then gave me attitude and told me to wait. So I say down and waited again no one came for 10 more minutes. I called to another waitress she came over and said she wasn't the waitress but would clean the table. She cleaned it and said the waitress would be there soon. No one came for another 5 minutes. So I finally got up and decided to leave. The waitresses just looked at me as I left and did not even bother to see why we were leaving with out even looking at a menu. I will never go there again. I work at a restaurant myself and I know it can be annoying for late customers but this bar is open till 1. There is no excuse to ignore and treat a customer like that.
(1)Molly O.
I really liked this place! I always thought it was a martini bar. Nope. More like a sports bar inside. Its clean and pretty new inside. They have nice tvs and a decent beer selection. I'm told that they do make good cocktails. I had nachos and they were pretty good. not the best I've had but decent. I liked the atmosphere. I also saw they have happy hour from 4-7 with 1/2 price apps! WOW! My kind of deal.
(4)Doug M.
Service is awful. They were out of half of the items on the menu and it toon a year once we finally did order. Once the food finally did come it was adequate but it was not worth the wait. The drinks were average. It was not worth the money or the wait. Tyler - the manager was obstinate and did not understand how waiting more than an hour was not appropriate. Overall - it was an awful experience. We will not be returning.
(1)Ryan B.
Always packed and always a chore trying to get a drink from the bar but the clientele is always dressed to impress and there are plenty of ladies.
(3)Mark R.
Worst bar I think I've ever been to. Maybe they should have more than 2 bar tenders working on a Saturday night with water fire and 4 weddings in the area goin on. 30 mins for a beer?! No thanks
(1)ryan c.
Not sure how the rating is low..we decided to try it anyway..Tyler are bartender is cool as f***...food was awesome and served late..great beer selection.
(5)Krysten S.
" EH " Is really all I have. Over crowded, and loud as can be! Couldn't talk to my friend.. only good part was the big glass of Blue Moon for 3 bucks, can't beat that!
(2)Madalyn M.
Worst money ever spent. Food had zero flavor and seemed like it was put in the microwave. Highly dissapointed.
(1)Kelly C.
I have been to Bar Louie 2 times in the past 2 months. Both times, I have left disappointed. The first time I went for dollar burger night which end up being not dollar burgers. They tasted horrible, equivalent to McDonald's burgers. McDonald's might actually taste better to be completely honest. I mean, I even paid 5 dollars for a specialty burger and it still sucked. Way too over cooked. The service was absolutely terrible and they were totally understaffed. The second time I went, it was 1 am on a Saturday night with a couple of friends. They supposedly close at 2 and told us last call was now as food was coming out and people were just ordering their beers. The bartender was super rude and gave us the wrong beer. She didn't even know how to pronounce a leinenkugel. We asked for a sunset wheat, she gave us a shandy. Needles to say, I won't be returning. Terrible customer service, terrible food.
(1)Dee H.
Don't bother. Drinks were fine though traditionally the martini glass is filled to the rim not 1/2 inch short. Service was indifferent took longer than necessary for a glass of water and the check. I ordered the California chicken sandwich -sigh- could anything be easier? Chicken was way over cooked, tough and too spicy (not indicated on the menu) and no avocado. Tater tots were pretty good. With all the places in providence pick somewhere else.
(1)Sofia C.
Went on a Thursday night and the service was horrible! Took forever! Food was ok. We only had apps. Do not get calamari - no flavor at all!
(2)Sergio M.
Far and away the most expensive beers in the City of Providence. $6.25 for a 14oz draft. Yes- they won't even give you a full pint for that outrageous price.Service is terrible and the bartender's suck. They never even crack a smile. Spend your money elsewhere this place is a total rip off.

Bar Louie is a chain. I guess there aren't many around here, but there are quite a few around Chicago. I really didn't like the one in Evanston (Illinois) and found it totally overrated. Still, I tried to keep such biases in check, since this was a different location, after all. I still found Bar Louie disappointing. I went there on St. Patrick's Day, and I didn't eat food, just had a drink with friends. I'm not a beer person, but I got an Amstel Light. It was served in a gigantic stadium cup and $8.50. Stadium prices, too! It was a big cup, in all fairness, but a) I didn't want that much (and definitely didn't finish it...) and b) $8.50 for a middle-of-the-road import is a bit silly, especially since I would've been content with much less of it too. As it was a consecrated national holiday for day drinking (though we were there at about 8pm), some Jameson brand rep gave us free shots! It was nice. I am not a Jameson person, but Jameson and ginger ale went down easily enough. Also, I thought it was champagne at first, and what does this say about me, etc. I can't even give Bar Louie 3 stars, really, because it's not that special, it's overpriced, the service is aloof and slow, and the layout is kind of not great. It's just not special. Providence is so full of local businesses, and although I would not try to tell you that I don't like a good chain (e.g. CHIPOTLE), this chain really does not add much to downtown Providence.
(2)Andy B.
GOD DAMNIT! Wrote a nice review, and tried to post it. Lost all of it, and am not doing it again. Let's just say that this place couldn't suck anymore if they tried. What a complete F'in ripoff. Do yourself a favor, and go to Murphys deli, or Blakes Tavern instead. F U Bar Louie! I want my time, and money back. YOU F****** SUCK!!!!!!!
(1)Skylar J.
Is it just taking forever to get our checks or is it on the house because our food took so long?
(2)Linda V.
Fantastic service!! Location, location, location.
(5)Alice S.
Being around for only a year or so now, Bar Louie has quite the following. The following of the after-dinner drinks from Union Station and LuxeBurger, and the pre-gamers for RiRa; especially on the weekend when RiRa has live bands playing. They do get quite the crowd during WaterFire weekends as well...the food is good, and so are the drinks, just be careful when opening a tab and ordering drinks. You'll find they're a little more expensive than you may have thought. It's a good place for dinner and drinks before going out, or if you're just in the mood to hang out with friends over drinks downtown, rather than going out and dancing or listening to live music.
(3)Justin B.
Let me start off that I'm not a fan of chain restaurants, but form the first step into Bar Louie it does not have a chain atmosphere. The waitstaff is super friendly and helpful. We ordered the popcorn and pretzels for apps. There were 4 of us and there was plenty to go around. The dipping sauces for the pretzels were great; honey mustard, jalapeño cheese, and cinnamon butter. the popcorn had truffle butter all over it, but not too much, and thats a good thing. I had the BBQ burger and it was delicious. I would recommend Bar Louie for some good pub food but not if you looking for fancy food or a romanic evening. Its an upscale Bar with good food.
(3)Grace R.
Come here for 4-7pm Happy Hour for half price appetizers! They have a selection of 7-8 different appertizers that are HALF PRICE during happy hour. The list includes their infamous flatbread, spinach and artichoke dip (must have), chicken/cheese quesadillas and boneless chicken wings. Will this menu change? I hope not or else I'll cry because I love this list. I can't believe I'm going to say this but their flatbreads are seriously better than the majority of pizzas out there. It's thin but not so thin that will fall apart. It did not make me feel guilty after eating almost all of it. Our favorite was the Italian Beef Flatbread with the punch of jalapeno! They cut the flatbread into squares and it's the perfect square of flavors. Hubby and I also had the spinach and artichoke dip and we fought to have the last chip and dip. Highly recommended! We went while there was a popping private event that took up the entire bar and a big 20+ people baby shower party. However, this did not distract our server from being attentive! I must say, good job for handling the crowds and little customers. As pointed by other yelpers, it loses one star because the music in the background is SO LOUD. I found myself yelling at my husband to talk (which I probably do enough already!). Turning it down just a little bit will seriously make the restaurant so much better. But, this is not a deal breaker for me so I'm cool with that.

Came here at 5:45 on a Wednesday night before the celtics game. Service was terrible. Took forever to get drinks. Had to find our server to put in a food order. The trio dip had the worst queso ever. I've come here multiple times on Fridays for happy hour and had a good experience but this was terrible. One meal came out. One didn't. When asking the server where the other meal was she had to check in the kitchen and then told me it had to be made.

Been here twice for the Tuesday $1 burger and it is awful. The ground beef is tasteless, the toppings were ok but not worth it once you start ordering more than three toppings. The service is awful too. My and my party arrived at 730pm. The waitress came by to take get our drink orders but I wanted to sample of one of the beers. It took her a good ten minutes to come back. We then ordered our burgers. This brings us to around 750pm. We ordered two burgers, and for some reason it took 40 minutes to come out!! The waitress did not explain why it took so long nor came back after to see how our food was. Now, you might think that since we went on Tuesday $1 burger night that it must have been super duper busy. But guess what? It wasn't! There wasn't a line coming through the door, nor there were all tables occupied. So that is the last straw and never again.
(2)Sarah E.
Made a return visit to Bar Louie recently for lunch with friends (including one who made the initial trip). We all ordered sandwiches. The portabella wasn't bad. The portions were surprisingly small for the price ($10-13). I think our fry portions were at the end of their batch. We each got maybe a handful of itty-bitty fries. All of us cleaned our plates and remarked how that never happens. Our server was very friendly and attentive throughout the meal, although she shorted us a few bucks change on the bill. I've been to a few other locations and have always enjoyed the experience. I know they haven't been open long so...

They're a little pricey and the service can get extremely slow here when they're slammed, but as one previous reviewer mentioned, there is one reason why Bar Louie holds a place in my heart: one dollar burger night. I found myself held up in Providence one Tuesday night past 11 waiting for a bus. With nothing to do, I walked around looking for a place to eat. Nothing open on Westminster and very little with a kitchen still open on Washington. I was pretty desperate when I wandered into that little plaza and saw the "Kitchen Open Late" sign outside Bar Louie. I was a little wary because I had heard this place was very expensive and I was on a tight budget. Then I saw the dollar burger special on the chalkboard. That was it. I went in and sat myself at the bar. The special is even better than it sounds: it's not some trick where you get a dinky little slider with no toppings or anything like that. You get a full sized sandwich. It doesn't even have to be beef, they have chicken and I believe turkey as well. The toppings are very interesting and include diverse choices like avocado and pesto mayo. The chicken sandwich I ordered was just about the best I've ever had for an unbeatable price of $2.75 (they charge you something like $.50 - $.75 per topping.) If you're ever downtown on a Tuesday night, go to Bar Louie for a fantastic sandwich (or two) on the cheap. You won't be disappointed. Don't go here to drink though: their beers are outrageous, especially considering I have drank the same brands twelve feet away at Luxe for half the price.
(4)Izabela B.
Bar Louie, even though you are a chain restaurant... I admit, I have an itty bitty crush on you. It all started when I met your big brother over at Patriots Place. I thought he was okay to look at, but nothing special. But there's something different about you, Bar Louie Providence. Is it that amazing coconut mint cocktail I had? Or the great apps menu? Or those big windows that open up for a night breeze? The friendly waitress? I don't know, Bar Louie. I don't know. But I'll be back to find out.
(4)Rebecca B.
Blech! That's what I thought. We went on a Sunday and they were promoting their 1/2 price apps. Not sure if they were going for 1/2 the quality but the spinach and artichoke dip was a bowl of milk with some spin and art and cheese and no flavor. And the housemade chips for dipping were so oily that they were actually malleable and had no crunch. Meals came and the fries were cold. Overall the food was greasy and nothing special, especially for the price. And I forgot to mention the agita that later insued. It made me regret my meal even more. I'm all set with Bar Louie.
(2)Paul W.
Great food and service. Hard to believe this is a chain. 5 of us had 5 different apps and 5 different entrees. Not a single complaint. No screw ups. Burgers cooked to order. Special requests done as requested. Pretzel app with several sauces is worth a try. Making this a regular stop!
(4)Stephanie K.
We decided to check it opening weekend. As to be expected it was super busy. we were able to get a table at the bar within 15 mins which wasn't too bad. Being a holiday weekend they should have been ready for the masses of kids home from collage and kept their kitchen stocked. The were out of a lot of menu options. What they did have was pretty good. Their beer was over priced. Might check out after a couple of weeks when it slows down a bit.

I really wanted to like Bar Louie when I heard about their $1 burger special on Tuesdays. I headed down on a Tuesday, eager to check it out. We were seated promptly and the server was friendly, but she explained to me that in order to get the $1 burger you had to each order a drink (other than water) and also had to get at least one side. That was fine, so my husband and I both ordered beers. The beers come in 14 and 20 oz, which is kind of annoying. Why am I being shorted on 2 oz of beer for a standard draft? The Sierra Nevada was $6.25 for 14 oz and the Woodchuck Cider was $5.25 or $5.50 for 14 oz. That is pretty pricey for Providence, and especially considering you only get 14 oz. Then the burgers came. You do have to pay for the cheese and the toppings which is fine since the base price is $1, but my burgers was so charred as to be completely inedible. It just tasted like a burnt hockey puck. My husband had the turkey burger which was actually really good, though. We also got the smothered tator tots as our side, which at $9, was also ridiculously expensive. They were very good and topped with a spicy and smoky queso, bacon & scallions. They were definitely the highlight of the meal. In conclusion, the place seemed over priced to me for the area. I would rather do Luxe or Ri Ras right next door. Better food and better prices.
(2)Joe C.
I hate giving this place a one star review because the food is good but service is just terrible. Never go here during any kind of big sporting event. Went during the US men's Olympic hockey game and service was slow. Took over 45 minutes for our food. Just went for the US world cup game and it was even worse. First it took 15 minutes for someone to come take our drinks. Then we were told we couldn't order food yet because the kitchen is too busy so they offered chip plate which we took. Came back 30 minutes and said still can't order and asked if we wanted more chips which again we took. Over an hour and a half later the kitchen was ready. The game was almost over and we had to get back to work so we just left. They charged us for the chips! With that serve, you better comp something. I understand it was busier than usually but prepare for that. A big sports game is on during lunch. Not only that, we asked if they had a table available before going which they held for us. If the place is so busy you can't take orders, don't take reservations. Sad to say (because the food is normally good). I will NEVER go back at any time.

I went this past Saturday night for drinks only. The place was very crowded and loud. The service was awesome. The bartenders are on the ball and hustle. It drives me nuts when you see service staff standing around doing nothing. Not the case here. The music was a pretty funny mix. They'd play a new hip hop song followed by Def Leppard's Pour Some Sugar On Me. Awesome. My one complaint is that they tried to jam a table into every conceivable nook and cranny in the place. If you didn't have a bar seat or a table it was awkward to find a place to stand and have a drink. You were constantly in someone's way. Overall, this is not the type of bar/restaurant I would normally hang out but I had a good time and the service was great.

Been here a few times and never fabulous but tonight we waited more than 10min for a server to even come over after my friend went to get them. App and main course came out at the same time. App was stale chips. Sent back and they removed from the bill, until they charged the cards and then each card was charged $4 to much. Not good.

Well I wanted to hate this place... but actually I didn't + was pleasantly surprised! The bar area is pretty open + there is a wide range of people there... everything from your 20 somethings to 50+ at least! Music is ok---top hits--- the DJ was hitten' up the 90's for reals but he would take any suggestion + he gets major points for that... just a little loud. Maybe turn it down a lil. Seemed to get louder past 12... so unnecessary. The place isn't that big. People weren't really dancing although this one guy + girl tried + the guy pushed her down so hard she face planted into the cement floor. oops. Gonna need to see a dentist! We shared shots with the 49ers + enjoyed a drink or 12. Not too bad for a night out in PVD. I'd go back for sure. If you need a lil drinkie in your night, this is your kinda place.

Great place for late night dinning. Food is amazing!

easy parking w/lot and meter on street (make sure you keep it loaded -- tickets come quick. Drinks and bar service were just OK. Margarita was just blah and my friend's red wine was terrible- likely an older bottle left open too long. food is very sub-par. Ordered the Trio chips w/ guac, salsa, cheese sauce? it was terrible---everything from a bag or box it seemed. How do you screw up chips/salsa ? I've been to Foxboro and had the same type of experience with the food. A good place to stop and have a beer i guess- but there are so many other choices in Providence that I might try before going here again.

For me, Bar Louie is a solid 3 star spot. Bar food doesn't really excite me so I could never really see myself rating it much higher than that, but I do think they are good at the type of establishment they are and would absolutely go back. I do monthly cocktail hour trips with a small group, and we decided to give Bar Louie a try. When I phoned to make reservations the manager called me back based on the size of our party, and we discussed where in the restaurant we wanted to be placed. She was super friendly and very accommodating. There were about 10 of us, plus a few babies, and the staff was fantastic with us. They were attentive, made menu suggestions, and did not make us feel rushed even though our 5pm cocktail time extended close to 8pm. We order an array of apps and really enjoyed the hummus plate, buffalo chicken flatbread, and tater tots (seriously, they sprinkle these with some kind of yummy goodness) the most. The drink menu is vast, and very tasty as well. Overall, I think it's a great spot for apps and drinks and LOVE that they keep their music level at a lower level than the one at Patriot's Place in Foxboro (I will not eat there because I hate that I can't have conversation while we eat). I can't see myself going here for dinner necessarily (again, just not my type of food) but it will certainly become one of my go-to spots for apps and drinks!

Met my sister there before her flight left for Florida. We were the only customers there at 12 on a Sunday. The server was super sweet to my toddler age daughter. The El Feugo boneless wings burned my mouth off. We had a salad with bacon, but it was too much bacon. I never thought I would say that...but it's true. The pretzel apps were really good and a lovely beer selection on draft.

One of the worst bar restaurants I've never been to!!!! The waitress was rude! She was kicking us out of our table because she was leaving and she knew that we were waiting for other people to join us. When she came for the check she looked at all of our checks and commented on the tip we gave her, I told her that 10% with more than enough for her! He asked to speak to the manager and he came over and said that she was his best waitress!!!! Wow!! When leaving she proceeded to follow us and stop us out side the restaurant, we notice at that point she was drunk, That was our experience at bar Louie's in Providence Rhode Island! Beware!!!

Had an outstanding experience at Bat Louie last night. Our server, Tes, gave impeccable service. We were all pretty blown away by her personality and attentiveness! The chef came out and discussed my girlfriends food allergies face-to-face (rather then sending the server back and forth) which was a really nice touch. The cocktails were tasty and came on time, every time. My only gripe with Bar Louie is their price point on beer: $7 bucks for a 14.oz draft of Long Trail IPA... but it's quite easy to see past the cost of beer when receiving such great service. Bar Louie was such a great spot for us to start our night, we ended up returning for last call, hours later. The bartender was friendly and knowledgeable in his craft, even when it was almost time to close. Definitely a new favorite.

Bar Louie is like T.G.I. Friday's older brother who you think is cool when you're a kid because he smokes cigarettes and drives a T-bird. Then you get through college and realized he's kind of just lazy and disgusting. Despite it's attempts to come across as hip or edgy or whatever it would be lucrative to be in a semi-college town, Bar Louie, and especially the Providence location, just kind of comes across as Applebee's with the lights turned down. The drinks aren't particularly good or particularly well-mixed, and their beer selection, while somewhat expansive, can't really compete with the others in the immediate vicinity. The drinks are expensive for what you get (although they do run some solid specials) and the clientele mostly look like the defendants in Lifetime movies. They do have a live DJ on Friday and Saturday nights, which would be a plus if the DJ wasn't always bordering on "crimes against humanity" status in terms of ability. While I've not eaten here, I've eaten at enough chain restaurants like this to know there are only so many ways you can overcook a piece of meat or serve soggy pasta. If you really HAVE to drink at a dimly lit chain restaurant, try the Bar Louie in Foxborough. At least that one has a pretty cool rooftop patio to drink your flirtini on.

A buddy and I went to the Bar Louie at 1 Union Station in Providence on a Monday night. Just like the other times I've been, it was an overall decent experience. The food wasn't bad, and we arrived between 4-7 pm; so we got to take advantage of their "happy hour" half priced small plates (appetizers). Even though we were one of only 5 tables, the service was a bit on the slow side. It seemed like our server was possibly new. Besides the service being noticeably slow, and not be attended to after having our food dropped off, I'd still return in the future. It's a decent spot to hang out with friends, especially on a Tuesday for dollar burgers. If the service were a notch higher, and more attention to detail paid, it would probably have gotten the 4th star from me.

I was lured into Bar Louie by the promise of $1 Burger Night (every Tuesday 5pm - Close). My wife and I each enjoyed a $1 Burger (options are Traditional Hamburger, Turkey Burger, Chicken Breast, or Portobello Mushroom). I opted for the traditional hamburger while she ordered the Portobello Mushroom Burger. We also ordered a basket of tater-tots and I had a beer. Here is the catch on $1 burger night. For $1 you get a burger with lettuce on a plain bun and the privilege of ketchup. Additional toppings range from $0.50 to $1.50. So my $1 burger turned quickly into a $4 burger with the addition on Tomato, Jack Cheese, Onion Strings, Bacon, and Guacamole. In no time at all, our meals arrived. The Burgers were good and the tater-tots were totally worth it. Soon thereafter, the check came. I look down. $16.00? How did I spend $16 on $1 Burger night? I didn't eat 16 burgers! My wife didn't. Did she? No, she didn't. But that's the hook. The toppings, beers and tater-tots inflate the bill, thus making $1 burger night profitable for Bar Louie. All in all, $16.00 plus tip for a decent night out? I'll take it. Maybe it counts as a mid-week date night? Yeah, I'll count it. Bam! (yell it like Emeril) Next time I will try out the Miserly Strategy: Order a several plain burger with a side of water and no tater-tots.

I've been here twice: once to meet up with some friends after they ran a roadrace Downcity and another time for a networking event. Satisfied both times; but nothing stood out. I have been wanting to go on Burger Tuesday & will make that happen soon. Mixed drinks can be pricey & the quesadilla they were passing around at the networking event was good.

Terrible service. I have been here several times and every time except for once the service was bad. My friend and I went for drinks months ago and she ordered a martini. The drink arrived and it was filled only 2/3 of the way. She politely asked if the server would top her drink off and the server was extremely rude and began an argument culminating in calling my friend a bitch in front of everyone in the place. I went back over the weekend and it took ten min for a server to come over ( it was not busy) and she was totally miserable. Don't go here!

I was out last friday in providence for the free summer concert series and met some friends and as we're walking they start chanting Louie! Louie! and I ask what is that? and then I got to experience the magic for myself. We sat at a table in one of the big open windows so we could enjoy the night air and yet still had the inside ambience. I split the Spinach Dip with my friend and it was worth it! I almost wish I had gotten it alone it was that good I could have eaten the whole thing. My friend got a Effen Good which turned out to be not that good and we sent it back, I got a Peach Lightning and I would gladly get another one. Great atmosphere and cool place. Only down side was the small bathroom and had to wait in line which isn't that big a deal considering it was a busy friday night.

Stopped in on a Saturday for a couple of drinks and had a great time! Great music, great people, great atmosphere. Had the option of standing by the bar or grabbing a table so we grabbed a table and our server was great! Havn't tried the food yet but was a pretty good spot for a Saturday night out!

I have been to this restaurant three times and have been disgusted with the service each time. I find this sad due to the good food and location of the bar. Last night was the last time myself or any of my friends will visit this bar. There were two female bartenders on when we came in around 12:00 PM. I believe our bartenders name was Kelly. There were maybe 6 people total at the bar when we got there and she walked by about 5 times prior to asking if we wanted anything to drink, it seemed as though she was too busy with the friends of hers that were there (throwing napkins continuously in the air like a child), the music that she cranked to a level I only witness in clubs, and breaking down her bar an hour prior to closing. When we asked if there was a menu for the $1 burger special she pointed and said "can't you go get it?"... when she saw the look on my face from this statement she proceeded to get the menu for me but nothing but attitude there on in. My friends ordered their beers and I needed a few minutes to look over the menu. I wish I never had waited because she didn't come back for about 15 minutes. A simple "So sorry for the wait" would have sufficed. I never felt like I was inconvenience to a bartender before in my life, it was a very strange dynamic. She really seems like she hates her job and she honestly cant even make a good drink. Find someone else! I know many people in Providence that have all said the same thing about your restaurant and its always about how rude your bartenders are. I truly hope you do something about this.
(1)John M.
Wow, very pricy drinks given the fact that they are right next to RiRa.. their beer must be made of gold or something.. Do yourself a favor skip the crappy DJ and head to one of Providence's other local establishments like RiRa or Murphy's. This is just an over rated hotel bar.
(2)Craig M.
Not a fan of any place that charges $12 for 6 (small) boneless wings... Unless Colonel Sanders himself is in the kitchen making them.
(1)Joel T.
Don't do $1 burgers. They charge you everything on top of that, yes even mayo. You are forced to order a side and drink, which is understandable. But when you bring me a burger that tastes like charcoal on a burger with two bottom parts of the bun, we have a problem. The waitress didnt even care. She said they are made well done. I like well done meat, this was charcoal. Never again.
(1)K J.
I went here for dollar burger night with my boyfriend and the place was really nice. I liked the atmosphere and who can turn down dollar burgers! To my surprise, my drink was absolutely perfect, mixed and made to perfection. I wish the service here was better, the servers for the most part aren't very attentive and make a decent amount of mistakes with food that is ordered. This place could be a gold mine if there servers were trained better.
(3)Cara G.
After work crowd. Good atmosphere, but kind of pricey for the type of bar/restaurant it is. The drinks were priced a little much for a menu of bar food. Service was pretty good tho.
(3)Sarah L.
The girls and I frequent this local hot-spot. Tuesday night 1$ burger night is always a favorite! Burgers start at 1$ then 50 cents per added topping!! Pair it with a 20 oz Blue Moon and a giant helping of Loaded Tater Tots and you will be in heaven! Great atmosphere with a perfect mix of oldies and new music that gets you dancing! A must go to in the Providence night life scene.

This bar sells a brand, all of the individuals working there are pretty alternative in nature. I'm into that, that's cool with me. You guys want some scene points? I giving them out today. The drinks are not cheap but not redic either. The chicken nachos have been pretty spot on each time I have got my hands on them. I have had lunch there a few times as well and service is normally friendly and quick. I like the way they have utilized a smaller space, it is far smaller than the giant Bar Louie at Patriot Place but the idea stays the same. Nice place for an after work drink. We had a large group there the other night and they took good care of us even as the night went on and we got louder, you know what louder really means, it means more drunk, are you glad I spelled that out for everyone? Ok, so as the night went on they were just as attentive to our tab as ever (that might bed due to how large it was getting....) It isn't super busy packed all the time so the bar allows for conversation as well as debauchery. See you guys there, maybe you will buy me a drink?
(3)Adrian S.
The food and service is excellent. The bartender made us feel welcome. The drinks are great. I recommend the s'mores and Bloody Mary. The loaded fries are to die for. The buffalo calamari is awesome. You can't go wrong.

Drinks, started with a Capitan and diet, it was very sweet.... Confused and decided to change to longtrail IPA which came in a nice tall glass... Great beer. Ordered wings (bone in) Asian , pot stickers, and Quesada's. Wings came out boneless but were great, pot stickers were OK, and Quesada was excellent. We then ordered dinner. Drunken Fish and Chips and other meals. The Fish was dropped off and I said, where's my fish? There was 3 tiny breaded shavings of fish with 70% more batter than fish that a starving homeless person eating would consider and ridiculously small portion. I've had chicken fingers that would make this fish flavored breading look tiny. I took one bite, and did not eat the dry minuscule amount. Showed the waitress that there was no fish and that I had no time to reorder and she still put it on the bill and just smiled when I showed her how admit I was about there being absolutely no fish on the $13.50 order of fish... I have mixed results on the food and zero acknowledgment by the wait staff gives them a 1 - 2 stars at best. My cousin ordered the fish too but ate a few more bites just because he was very hungry. Of the four dinners, two were empty, one was touched and mine had a bite out of it. All four on the bill.... $150 + tip later and two of us were hungry. Now I know why they are drunken Fish And Chips, You'd have to be completely drunk to think that was an order of fish and chips... :)

Whomp, whomp. Place was dead, cocktails were weak and beer selection was lame. We had hopes for good bar food and cool beers and were disappointed with both. I would suggest walking right past this place.
(1)Martha C.
A great spot to grab appetizers and drinks with friends. The food is typical bar food but it is also delicious and the service is usually great. We love the tater tots, simple but oh so good. Definitely worth checking out!

Six of us went to the Providence location for my friend's birthday. I don't usually say anything, but I have to say, we were really disappointed. I wondered why the restaurant was dead, especially with the TVs you have and it being a Sunday with football on. I just think the prices are outrageous for what you get...there was hardly a size difference in the small and large caesar salads and are you kidding with the mini shrimp on a skewer?; those shrimps belong in fried rice! I have bigger shrimp than that in my freezer. There was hardly any chicken on our CHICKEN nachos. The food took a while to come out and we only had apps. Our waitress was nice and we did have good service. Everything tasted ok, which is why we didn't say anything then. I am giving it a 2 because of the waitress and atmosphere; but sadly, with all the places to go in Providence, I just don't think I'd recommend Bar Louie to anyone in Providence.
(2)Holly S.
Ok, at first glacé you might think its just pub grub, not! And the drink list is extensive. The pretzel sticks are amazing, crunchy yet gooey! And they have appy hour during the week

Went to Bar Louie on Wednesday night with my younger Brother and have to say it was pretty good. When we arrived, about 6:00, it was pretty quiet. We pulled up to the bar and we were greeted quickly by our bartender. I ordered a Sam Summer, my complaint is she did not ask what size, I was just given the largest beer glass they have, I switched on my next beer (the size) but it was super cold and delicious. My Brother got Stella which he was very pleased with. Then, we were starving, and our bartender continuously passed us without asking if we were ready to order. Finally, the other bartender (only because he had to close a bill out right in front of me) took our order. The food came out in a timely fashion and was pretty good. I had the chicken melt, it was fried, topped with American cheese and tomato and lettuce. It was pretty good, not greasy at all, very tasty, and the fries were good, nothing special but complimented the sandwich. My Brother got the Chicken Quesidia's and he thought they were fantastic. I have a feeling on busy weekend nights this place/bartenders would get easily overwhelmed. And, be prepared, the bar stools SUPER uncomfortable. I know that seems kind of "nit picky" but when you are sitting there for 3.5 hours and there is no back support, it gets very uncomfortable. Overall, good place for a quick bite and cold beer. Below based on 5 stars SERVICE ** 1/2 FOOD *** ATMOSPHERE *** PRICE *** LOCATION *** OVERALL ***

I came here last Sunday with my bf and ordered a garbage salad, adobo shrimp skewers, and the sesame seared ahi tuna with vegetables and rice on the side. The garbage salad was alright, fresh enough, and the shrimp was pretty good. Main entree: The ahi tuna dish was terrible! The broccoli was looking very old and almost rotting, with brownish black rotting edges. It was mushy, small, and not fresh at all, and I did not even touch the other vegetables on the place as they looked even mushier than the broccoli, like someone stepped on them, and unappetizing. The rice was undercooked in some sections and was very hard (was it cooked or burnt?? why would rice be that hard - i have no idea!) that I chipped one of my molars on a piece of rock solid hard rice! The fish was ok. The sauce was not flavorful, I think it was just a horrible tasting dish all in all. Will NEVER come back here. The bf was unimpressed with his BLT as well.

We dined in the Providence R.I. location on Sunday October 27th to watch Sunday night football. We are from the area but had never been until this date. We saw advertisements outside as we'll as inside for the game so we were excited to watch some football and try the food which we heard good things about. Unfortunately when we got there I wasn't impressed. I've worked in the restaurant business for 12 years and I can honestly say that the staff were the most rude and unprofessional I have come across in a long time. THANK GOD we ended up with an awesome waitress named Alex that saved us from having a completely awful experience. She was very knowledgable of both the menu and drinks. She was very accommodating unlike the rest of the staff and had a great personality. We ordered several drinks and apps while we were there. Although the food was really good, they were rather small and overpriced. The buffalo tenders (or bites), although delicious, came as a tiny portion for 12$. Once the Patriots game had ended we, as we'll as the other patrons at the bar expected the other games to be put on the televisions. They were not. It seemed as though they couldn't find the right channel and kept flipping through the guide for what seemed like forever. We asked a passing waitress about the televisions at which she fluffed us off and told us to ask the bartender and continued to walk by. I might add that it was not busy in the restaurant at this time and it seemed like our waitress was the only one engaging with customers although there was plenty of staff on.i didn't see a manager the entire time we were there and I don't believe the bartender smiled or said two words to anyone. Besides of course that she couldn't put the volume on for any of other games (once they finally found it). At that point they blared the music and from what we saw, cleared out the rest of the few parties that were in that area watching football. Two men at the bar seemed to be equally unpleased as we were about the rudeness from the bartender and the games not being on. We decided to go somewhere that we could enjoy watching the game. So my advice is if your going there for Sunday football.. Don't. And if you do, ask for Alex!

I've had plenty of good experiences in Providence, and i've been to other bar louie locations. This one just plain sucks. The night we were there it was busy, which is normally a good sign. we found two seats right at the bar and were hoping to have a couple of drinks, until--- the bartender immediately treated us to an attitude of disdain, like she was doing us a favor by waiting on us... BOOO! Next, asking us for id's (all the while with attitude and impatience) So, my GF is over 21 with a valid AZ dl, after taking it and looking at it (for 5 minutes) with the manager, he returned it telling us that he could not validate it's authenticity and couldn't accept it. What? Apparently, they are so busy they don't mind blowing off some people who wanted to spend $. BOOO again! I understand that people want to follow rules and liquor laws, and I understand when it's busy and it takes awhile to be served, but I really CANT STAND IT when I get a shitty attitude or the staff acts like they are doing ME a favor by doing their job... There's plenty other places in close proximity that will treat us (at least) in a civil manner- I suggest you avoid this chain altogether and go somewhere that wants your business.

Cool vibe, expensive beers, average food. I'll probably go back but won't really make a significant effort to do so.
(2)Dani G.
My recent experience was consistent with the other reviews. Food ( apps and salads) was good, drink menu was complex and interesting, pricing was a bit high and service was good. No complaints and will return.
(3)K S.
This place is as disappointing as I anticipated. I never went to the one at Patriot Place because of the sketchy looking crowd who frequented it. This location is really small, and the food and service leave A LOT to be desired. My sandwich came without avocado which is pretty much the sole reason I selected it. The bread was so soggy that I had to pick it up to eat. My fellow diners were equally as unimpressed with their meals. The service was SLOW and borderline rude. It's a pretty happening place late in the evenings, but that is to be expected given the sheer lack of other options in the area. I was underwhelmed to say the least. If they continue down this path, they will no doubt be closed relatively soon like the many restaurants that previously occupied the same space.

Went to Bar Louie with a couple friends for dollar burger night. It was my first time ever going to this place. First walking in the service was great, we were attended to right away and the staff was very friendly. Although the waitress never told us her name, she came over promptly, and was very helpful in telling us about the special, and informed us that appetizers were half price. Once our orders were taken and our food was brought out, thats when the service went down hill. There was a table of about 15 business men next to us with the same waitress as us and it was pretty clear her attention was focused on them and only them. They were ordering a bunch of drinks so maybe she thought she was going to get a better tip from them rather than her other tables? I'm not sure, but that just made us pretty furious. She never once came back to our table to see how the food was or if we needed anything until about 10 minutes we were actually done with our meal. Also, the waitress never asked how we wanted our burgers cooked. Once we informed her of that, she told us that all burgers were cooked to medium. She should have told us that as we were ordering and we shouldnt have had to bring it to her attention. Other than the poor service, the food was great. I would definitely go back for the raved about dollar burger night. If you want a good burger and a relaxed atmosphere, I would say Bar Louie is a good choice.
(4)Kristen T.
Bar area very small and layout not comfortable on a busy weekend night. Where we were standing we kept getting pushed and getting frequent, rude "excuse me!!" shouts from angry waitresses. Bar service was okay, until trying to close our our tab. We asked politely to close out our bill and the bartender continued to pour drinks and take orders for 5 minutes. After grabbing her attention again and frustrated since we were holding up our group of friends, she huffed "YEAH WHEN I HAVE A MINUTE" and continued to pour drinks. Unbelievable. Finally she came over with our bill...but did not bring our credit card. Um, hello?! Are you serious? Had to wave her down again and ask for our card. She rolled her eyes, huffed something at another bartender, and finally grabbed our card. Terrible experience.

Went here a few nights after it opened. Got the soft pretzels to share with the group. It comes with 3 different dips, honey mustard, cinnamon/sugar butter and a cheese one. They were pretty good. Had the tuna steak sandwich as a main and it was excellent. My boyfriend got the fish tacos, it comes with 3 or 4 and you have the option to get fish or chicken, we asked if they could do a few of each and they wouldn't do it. Kind of a bummer. The fish tacos were OK, not super memorable. Another small downside was the price of the cocktails, the price isn't and after ordering a bunch and then getting the bill we realized they were $10 each. Seemed kind of pricey and probably wouldn't have ordered as much if we had known. Would go back again.
