Pizza
Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.
Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.
Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

I'm not sure what everyone else ate but the food isn't that great. They don't have delivery and the pizza that l had to wait for was cold by the time I got home, which is only a five minute drive. Even the greek salad was below average, they only gave us four olives.

Warning: highly addictive. I've been eating the buffalo chicken calzone + a side of blue cheese for years. ...now I want one.

We sat down in this cute restaurant, which was almost completely empty, except for 2 other tables and 2 people at the bar. No one ever acknowledged our existence even after waiting quite a while and getting up to use the rest room. It appeared that there were plenty of people hanging out in the kitchen! We left and never plan on returning, too bad.

Love this place. The Sizzler is tremendous and the food overall is simply delicious. .

This pizza place is down the street from our home. We've heard nothing, but good things about their pizza so we decided to give it a try. When we first walked in we were greeted and welcomed. The place was clean and a nice atmosphere. We ordered the SMOG pizza and the antipasto salad. The wait was short and the staff was friendly and accommodating. We brought the pizza and salad home and it was wonderful. The sauce and crust was remarkable and different. We enjoy our food very much ! We will continue to come to this pizza place.

Love this place! Everytime I come home to visit I have to hit up West Main to get my fix in! There Great White Calzones are the best and the Buffallo Chicken Calzone is superb as well! There wheat dough has so much flavor to it and the way it forms the crispness to it is just phenominal! I love this place and im sure if you go and try it you will too!

Ordered Cardiac Arrest pizza. Pizza was way over cooked. Beer was warm. Tables not cleared from previous patrons. An eclectic decor, dimly lit, better to look at than the pizza.

I grew up right down the road from West Main and I now live in MA so I cannot go as often as I would like. West Main is always a must for my friends and I when we come home. My favorite pizza is their Buffalo Chicken, I have tried many Buffalo Chicken pizzas and nothing else compares! I also really enjoy their blue cow. Things to know....the owners are great, they use wheat crust, they do not deliver, they have beer and wine, and the price of the pizza is worth it! Lastly, I have a few gluten free friends and they have an option of getting the pizza topping in a bowl....I have only heard good things from each of them

Came here because of the raving about the pizza. It was awful! Place was just about empty (3 other table). Took 30 minutes for nachos (chips with melted cheese) & a cheese pizza. Nachos were cold. Pizza wasn't cooked & had absolutely no flavor. Won't be coming back here.

Great place. Don't pass this gem by. Great calzones! Kitschy atmosphere. Lunch or dinner. Take out or eat in.

As I have mentioned in previous reviews, Portsmouth has a LOT of pizza places. An unreal amount.... The thing about westmain when you walk in is it does not feel like a pizza place... with all the memorabilia from licences plates, to sharks and surfboards from the ceiling.. .you feel like you are in your best friends basement (in a good way), hanging out and loving life. Fully Relaxed and ready to eat delicious food. Do I even need to write anything about here? I have grown up in Portsmouth, so basically West Maine is an essential food group to your diet. I am writing this review after I have eaten here 2x in the past week (after they reopened from their fire!!). After eating here for about once a week, 15 years straight... what you need to know: 1. You can't go wrong with a pizza or calzone.. they are made on whole wheat crust. The town favs are white shark, and their buff chick. I typically just go for cheese since I am simple... 2. Their garlic bread is amazing. With or without cheese, it will be the best $1.99 added onto your meal 3. If your going for something not pizza related, I thoroughly enjoy the fries and chicken fingers. 4. Free refills on soda machines!! 5. GREAT selection of beers and wines All in all, this is the "local" town spot where we would come to study, hang out before hockey games, and get away from our parents. The service by both the employees and owners is genuine and truly fun spirited.

The pizzas and calzones are delicious. I love the "all American" calzone - it really is like a Big Mac, but better. The calzone dough is also very tasty.

The Buffalo Chicken Pizza at West Main is the best you will ever have! Wheat crust and perfect amounts of toppings combine for a taste that your mouth won't forget and that you'll be telling others about for a long time! Sure they don't deliver but the restaurant itself is fun to go and eat in as well. A large variety of beers and bottled beverages and adequate seating! Everyone I've made try this place comes away happy! Personally I think West Main features the best Buffalo Chicken Pizza not only on Aquidneck Island, but that I've ever had!

It is hard for me to stay away from this place. The buffalo chicken is the best I have ever had and the crust is perfect. I just love it here.

I've been eating here for a while now and it's definitely one of the better pizza places in the area. The prices are very reasonable, my pizza is always cooked perfectly and they always get my custom requests right. But I think my favorite part about this place is the bread they use to make the pizza/calzones, which is fluffy and delicious. Recently i've been getting the Buffalo Chicken calzone and it's one of my favorites.

Their Buffalo Chicken Calzone has ruined all other buffalo chicken calzones everywhere. So sad i moved away from this place. I have dreams about it and my nightmare is waking up.

Love the whole wheat crust and the casual atmosphere.

Oh the pizza is glorious. I got the "Great White" and it was probably the best white pizza I've ever had. Garlic chicken with white sauce, broccoli and red peppers. The crust was nice and fluffy and all of the ingredients held together so well, nothing fell apart when I tried to eat it. I'll definitely be heading back for other pizzas. Easily the best pizza in Portsmouth and probably the surrounding areas. -1 one star only because they don't deliver.

A great local haunt with plenty of nostalgia eye candy decorating the walls...but this about the pizzas...Their best is a veggie pizza on whole wheat crust....I know, I know...many yelpers may be moving on from this review for more traditional pies. Still if you want a chance outside of the chains, then West Main is a solid performer and prices are reasonable compared to others. Pies are not the biggest, 2 larges for a family of four moderate eaters.
