Chinese Cuisine
The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.
Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.
There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.

GREAT Chinese food!!! LOVE it! But don't expect a warm welcome. The owners never, ever smile or are warm and fuzzy at all. Speaking of warm, in the winter it is absolutely freezing in there. But if you're there for a few minutes to pick up it's fine. I'm telling you the food is just terrific. You have got to try it.

I went today, because Best Eastern is closed for 2 weeks... YELP, you've really let me down! The reviews here were great, so I picked Cheng's over Little Chopsticks (where I've also never been). LC had reviews about having great rangoon, not those weird sweet triangles other places use. NOW I know what the hell they were talking about! These are not crab rangoon. they're not rangoon, they aren't crab, and they're sweeter than a pop tart. literally has sugar on the outside. what the hell? The general's chicken was really fatty, and had no faint crunch to it (which happens with delivery...but I bit into this right when it was HOT HOT HOT, just 2 minutes after she handed it to me at the counter). the broccoli tasted like chemicals. The white rice was alright though, whatever that means! boo to wasting money on crab rangoons, my favorite. I threw away 9 of the 10.

I've been ordering from Cheng's for almost 8 years now... how is it I've not yet written a review?!?! Well, here I am. Better late than never. Cheng's is like any other hole in the wall Chinese take out spot in an inconspicuous location sandwiched between a dry cleaner and a pizza joint. It's a little dark and dingy in there, but don't let that fool you because it is clean. There is one small table in the restaurant, but I don't think I've ever seen anyone eating there before; it's strictly a take-out joint. I love the people who own it too; the woman is so friendly and she always takes time to ask me how I am doing and how things with me are and I really like having that comforting feeling I get when I pop in to pick up an order. The food is consistently hot, fresh and delicious and the portion sizes are great. I tend to be a creature of habit so I've only ordered the same few things over the years, but I keep going back because it's so dang good. The beef with broccoli is one of my favorites and the broccoli is big and fresh and crispy. Their crab rangoon are my 2nd all time favorite. I also quite enjoy their shrimp lo-mein. I've introduced Cheng's to several of my friends over the years and they all love it as much as I do. I'll be moving out of my neighborhood to another area of PVD within a month and let me tell you... I'll make it a point to go out of my way to order from Cheng's when I have a hankering for Chinese food.

Don't let the decor fool you. As with most other Chinese restaurants: the food is good, the atmosphere is sketchy, and the cost is cheap cheap cheap! Enjoy.

I live right next to this place and hadn't tried it until recently. I'm really a fan! I love their fried shrimp and their lo mein is great too. The prices are average and the service is super fast whether it is delivered or picked up. The hot and sour soup is another of my favorites! It looks a little run down but the food is pretty tasty!!

I go here for chinese food because its close, thats why I give it 3 stars instead of two. Its tasty but its not good chinese food. I mean if were comparing it to horrible chinese restaurants, then yah, its pretty good. But i set my bar high, and this place is just below average. I made my own eggrolls at home one time and thought they were really good. I went to chengs to get some of their eggrolls to do a taste test and theirs were horrible by comparison. I mean, come on, a chinese restaurant should be able to make better eggrolls that a white kid from Florida. As for the general tsos chicken, well if you put enough sugar in anything it will taste good.

This place is the best Chinese food we've found in RI so far. The hot and sour soup is the best, especially when you are sick! It's very spicy and fully of tofu, mushrooms, and other veggies. The shrimp and garlic sauce is not the same as I've come to expect, but it's still good. Prices are reasonable and delivery is very fast. However, as others have noted, pass on the fried rice. It's yellow instead of brown and lacks flavor.

Seriously SO DELICIOUS. Best sesame chicken I have ever had. Fast and friendly service and a free 2 liter! Can't wait to order again!

There Wonton Soup is real good as well as there beef teriyaki. The delivery is pretty quick. The chicken fingers and brown gravy is one of the best around. Friendly service

After reading the reviews and trying it because they were rated so high, I was really disappointed. We are new to the area and of course coming from the Dartmouth MA area where they have the best chinese food, this was pretty bad. The fried rice is bright yellow with no taste, the teriyaki sticks were red and were like tough boneless spareribs. To top it off, the duck sauce was awful and she gave us packaged ones when we asked for more and those were downright nasty. The eggrolls and dumplings were not bad but all in all...I will certainly never think about going back. You want awesome Chinese and don't mind a ride, let me know and i will tell you where to go...but don't waste your money here!

Tried Cheng's for the first time this pass weekend. Food was delicious. I ordered a General Tso's combination platter and steamed dumplings. By far this is the best chinese food I've had in North Providence. They delivery too which is a nice feature.

Much better than your average Chinese food. Ok, so this is a small take-out joint in North Providence. Nothing fancy outside, or inside for that matter. There is only 1 table for 4 and a few other chairs so you have a place to sit and wait for your food. This was our first venture to Chengs. The food was quite good tho! We got a PuPu platter figuring this would be a good benchmark to gauge their food. The chicken wings were nice and meaty and not greasy at all. The beef teriyaki was tender and had a terrific flavor (savory with a little cinnamon and other spices). The crab rangoon was tasty, although it was a little more chewy than crispy. Overall: great. I would highly recommend if you're in the area. We'll definitely be trying other fare on the menu next time.

So I have driven by this place every day since moved in 5 years ago.....and I didn't because it looked shady...but place is GREAT!!!!!don't get me wrong, there are better places...but as take out goes its awesome. Even my wife who gets created out easily by "mystery meat" likes this place! Egg rolls are a must, low mien is tasty yet not too heavy and boneless spareribs are my fav(just a little too much sauce, so I tell lite on the sauce)

Tried Chengs for the first time, and used their delivery service. Ordered 3 General Tsos, and one sweet n sour chicken. Both were excellent, not chewy or greasy as other places have been. Delivery time a little slow but overall a great experience. We'll be back. Remember to ask for your free item with orders over $20, 30, and 40. They didn't tell us about them, but we did get a free egg roll that was one of the best we have had in a while.
