I never post a review but tonight's bartender was so bad that I had not choice. Food and drinks are usually good but service tonight was one of the worst I ever had.

We had wonderful service from Jasper, and the chicken wings were absolutely fabulous. The salads, too. The entrees? Not so much. An absurdly large portion of lemon chicken and the salmon special were not great. Also, we were surprised at the nearly $100 tab for the two of us. But the beer selection makes up for it. Go for appetizers and drinks!

I go to Norey's maybe 2-3 times a month, it helps that I live really close. I have not had very much food there, but the food I have had has been quite good. I would have to say that I like beer, I don't love it- but the staff are very knowledgeable on the selection and will let you have a taste of anything on tap if you ask. I did once order a pint the bartender suggested and didn't like it so he didn't charge me for it and we found something I did like. On quit a few occasions I've had their homemade desserts: German chocolate cake 3 stars, bread pudding 4... others... was maybe a few pints in a few times and don't remember except that they were delicious. :) A few nights ago a friend had olive hummus which was quite salty (as you can imagine) but good portion size. Salads there looks great. I want to try the bone marrow and a burger sometime soon (good wintery food, no?) Haven't check out the live music because it starts a little late for my early-to-rise schedule. The tallish, maybe 45-year-old door man STARES at my roomie whenever we go and he's there, which we find funny and creepy at the same time. Otherwise, good experiences with the staff, the nice blonde waitress is very knowledgeable and personable.

I was pleasantly surprised with Norey's. We had a party of four and went for dinner on a Thursday night at 6:30pm. The restaurant was fairly empty when we got there, which made me a bit hesitant. However, it seemed to pick up while we were there. The staff was very friendly and attentive. They offer plenty of beers and wines to choose from, but do not have a full bar. We all ordered different microbrews - pretty good! Overall, the food was pretty tasty. My friend and I both ordered the lobster mac and cheese. The lobster was a little overcooked and the pasta a little oily, but the dish was still good. It arrived to our table steaming hot and had I waited a little longer for my first bite and not burned my tongue, I may have enjoyed it even more. My husband ordered the pesto chicken pasta dish - and this was to die for. I would definitely order that dish next time. Our other friend ordered a fish and chips dish and he said it was pretty good. I ordered a side vegetable dish and that night it was broccoli. The broccoli was a little too wilted for my taste, but I wouldn't say it was horrible. We all shared a piece of the peanut butter cheesecake. I'm glad we shared it because it was a large piece and very rich. It was absolutely delicious! It was a pleasant time with good service and good food. I'd return!

I went to Norey's with one of my friends on a Thursday night during Newport Restaurant Week. The place was pretty empty, just one other booth of people and a few patrons sitting at the bar. I wanted to try Norey's out because of their restaurant week menu that I had looked at online, I was quickly disappointed though when I realized the restaurant week menu that they had there was quite different. Our waitress came over a few minutes after we sat down and took our drink and meal order. She was kind of spacey and brought our appetizers over before our drinks, which were just glasses of water. I ordered the Golden Beet Carpaccio, which I didn't like at all. My friend had the roasted artichokes, which she enjoyed. For my entree, I ordered the Papparadelle Bolognese, which was very salty. Dessert was pretty good-- peanut butter chocolate cake. Overall, nothing to write home about. Can't say that I would ever go back.

Dear Norey: we went into your place on a cold winter night and were excited to walk right up and get two seats at the bar. There were other people eating and drinking, but we didn't have anyone next to us on either side- it wasn't a busy night. After sitting for eight (yes I clocked them) minutes one of your bar tenders finally made eye contact with us and offered us a drink and a menu. It was quite a relief as the same bar tender and several other servers had walked by us- literally within inches of us- without even looking up to so much as acknowledge our presence in your establishment. I started to think perhaps we had walked through some sort of invisibility mist before entering Norey's. So, we ordered drinks and received menus. Nine (yes I clocked them) minutes later we left without having received our drinks or any other further recognition of our existence. Norey, you are much too pretentious for the wall bar with a contrived menu spot that I believe you to be. Generally I can chock a bad experience up to a bad experience and try a restaurant again, but the disdain and lack of interest showed by your staff has soured me on you forever. I can accept a grumpy staff in the weeds. I do not accept the pretentious, self-aggrandized ineptitude displayed by your bar staff. Get over yourself.

This has been my "go to" restaurant when having guests over. Of the half dozen times I've been there, I've never had a less than amazing meal. I will admit, the quality of the service is a bit below their food, but when they messed up my order and brought me something I didn't order, I was glad they did, because the mistake was amazing! The four cheese appetizer and boneless ribs are phenomenal and the desserts are nothing short of sublime. My only criticism is that that the front of the house is a bit pretentious. But with the quality of the food ill take that.

I've been to Norey's now two times. Both times were super, super awesome. First time was just a beer and some german chocolate cake, the second a burger and a couple of beers. The beer is really spectacular (had an allagash curieux that rocked among others). the food straightforward but quite good. the service is superb (did they up their game after previous bad reviews? I don't know). They were just attentive and offered great recommendations. And the bartender is extraordinarily good looking. can't beat that.

We had my daugther's 21st birthday here the other night and we had a great time. The food was great and the service was excellent. Even though it was a busy Saturday night they made the night very enjoyable. Special thanks to Jasper she was great.

What. a. cute. place! Had din din here a week or so ago with some fello foodies. We all got some apps and small entrees so we could taste as many flavors as possible. I started with the goat cheese and crostini, and followed it with a petite cut of lamb with a balsamic syrup. Uh-Maze-ing. a perfect amount of food! The Escargot was also ridiculous. The salads were bright and fresh with bold flavors and dont even get me started on the beer menu! I heart Norey's. Its a great place all year round. Its not jammed with tourists in the summer and still has a great crowd of locals in the winter! Great for a group of friends, or a romantic meal. oh, and the Chef is pretty cute as well. :)

My husband and I stopped in to Norey's one Friday night a few weeks ago on a recommendation from a friend. The beer selection is extensive and diverse. You can certainly find something for everyone. We started off with raw oysters and the spinach dip, which was great. I ordered the steak with beets and truffle fries. It was cooked perfectly to my taste and everything was seasoned deliciously. This was possibly one of the best dinners I have had out in a very long time! My husband had the lobster Mac and cheese, which he has had in several places in different states and is a strict critic about this dish. At Norey's, he has been raving about their lobster mac and cheese for weeks. I can't hear about it anymore. We will just have to go back for more I guess. You cannot get Norey's for takeout so plan on a night to go out. The atmosphere is good too. It has live music some nights. This is a small great spot to get a good beer and great food. The menu isn't run of the mill either. The menu is original and unique and the food is made from fresh local ingredients that enhance the flavors, making it better than your average pub or burger joint. The menu makes it feel like an upscale elegant place with great beers to pair with it. Jeans and shirt are fine yet you wouldn't be out of place in a nice button down or dress either... This place is a little further up on Broadway, away from the heart of downtown but is a cool spot to check out!

Have eaten here a few times - and I am torn as to whether I am just expect too much - or that they just aren't delivering . the menu reads far better than the food / presentation - the wait staff sort of gives off a vibe of " we are too good for you " I'd sum the place up as " fine" nothing to write home to mother about - nothing to get excited about - and the value at about average

So I decided to go here for a 2nd time last Saturday. My uncle was in town and I wanted to go somewhere nice for dinner. I order the Chilean Sea Bass and my uncle ordered scallops. We had opted to sit at the bar, as part of our party had to cancel. I kept noticing servers walking behind the bar with my sea bass and being sent back because the scallops weren't ready. Finally, I just told the bartender he could bring it out, rather then have it sit in the back. When I got the sea bass, it was a really thick, nice piece of fish. How the chef managed to over-cook a piece of fish so thick in such a short amount of time, I have no idea; it was like chewing on a tire. The scallops finally came out about 20 minutes later, when I had just had a chance to let the bartender know how horrible the fish was. I ended up just getting a salad instead. The chef never came out, and we were charged for the $26.00 piece of fish of which I took one bite. NEVER AGAIN!

Great place with a great vibe. A huge beer selection, I'm not a drinker so I can't comment on specifics but my dining companions always love it. I have to say some of the food is hit or miss- You can't go wrong with any of the appetizers. The hummus, quattro fromagio all excellecnt, and I had a seaweed salad that I've been obsessing about ever since. My goat cheese quesadilla was good, not great, and my husband's buffalo mac and cheese was so spicy it was uneatable (and he's from Texas!).I was very excited about the cheesecake special but I found it to be very spongey and dry- I know norey's is known for their cakes, but I have yet to be impressed by one. Great service and atmosphere

Met up here on a Saturday night to have dinner with my aunt. We walked in and was asked if we had a reservation. When we replied we didn't, the hostess's response was - "well we don't have any tables available" - not what the wait time was, didn't offer to look at the bar (where there were seats available, just a blank stare afterwards. We offered ourselves to sit at the bar - to which the 2 of us were given 1 menu to decide what we wanted. When I asked for water with lemon I was told they ran out of lemons?????? Then they finally offered a lime to which I said oh I;ll take it with soda water instead. Nope no soda water - only a big bottle of Pellgrino you have to buy. then I decided I really needed a drink - I tried to ask the bartender about thier wine offerings, nope he didn't know about them. Then chef happened to come out and talk to me about them but then as he was speaking noticed something at the end of the bar, focused on that and that was the end of my tutilidge on their wines. The food was actually decent (they only reason they are getting any stars) Then my aunt wanted dessert - took 15 minutes to bring out the bread pudding they heated up in the microwave. It then took another 20 minutes anyone (including the wait staff behind the bar standing in front of the cash register) to take my credit card to pay for it. needless, my tip refected every ounce of annoyance I had.

Never used yelp before but had such a bad experience I just had to sign up and post. My girlfriend and I moved to the area about a year ago, and we found norey's and liked it. The service was always a little sub par but bareable. This last time, however, we went, sat down and the waitress came and we ordered drinks to start. The waitress asked for our ID's, which is normal, but then began accosting us because my gf is from New York and I'm from Cali, asking us how we met and questioning our IDs. Fine, whatever, eventually she accepts them and leaves. 20 mins go by. Waitress comes back, says she's been asking around about our ID's and still doesn't seem sure, so I present my military ID, which she still doesn't seem to trust. Finally she relents, but says if we're lying it would "ruin her summer." Oh no! Get this though, she spent all this time and has forgotten our order so has to ask again. She finally leaves to get our drinks. Meanwhile the table next to us, who came later, have gotten drinks and dinner. Finally, a long time later we get our drinks, but another 20 mins go by before she asks about food (this is a small place mind you). It goes on and on like this. I'm pretty patient, and I can understand wanting to be sure not to serve underage people, but this is a little ridiculous. Read the other reviews too, service here is consistently bad. Stop giving these jerks business until they get their acts together. There are plenty of other really great places in the area (salvation cafe for example), I don't miss norey's and their attitude and ignorance. I've had bad experiences before at resturaunts, but this place was just horrible.

The menu is HUGE! while they do have a long list of wines and beers, there is also a ton of other information. I myself enjoy reading about the difference between various styles of wine/beer, but I legit could not figure out where the restaurants selections were. The bartender was familiar with the issue and directed me to the appropriate page. I ordered a Malbec, they were out of all of them. Normally I wouldn't think twice about that, but you know, it's a wine bar. One would think they would have a cellar or at least a few crates of the stuff in the back. I asked if they had an IPA (wasn't able to read the chalk board and the end of the bar), nope. Was a bit surprised, but whatever. Asked the bartender to recommend me a beer. He poured me a very clear, very light, flowery beer. I went with it because I was starting to feel like a needy jerk. I was done with this place because based on what I had tried to order previously, I don't know how he came to that recommendation. Got my tab, $10 for one beer. Nope! Done! I'll go to one of the other 15 bars on Broadway.

If you are a beer snob, this is your place in Newport. Service has always been amazing, and with an ever-rotating beer selection and EXTREMELY knowledgeable bartender, we have always left slightly buzzy and satisfied. We haven't had a LOT of the food items, there, but what we have had is hit or miss. The baked cheese appetizer was stellar (though needs to be accompanied with more bread, which the chef helpfully brought for us, and/or some crudites), but the beer-steamed mussels were AWFUL. So so so much bitter in one dish. And I'm an IPA drinker! Just make sure you pass on the mussels.

Norey's is a breath of fresh air on the Newport culinary scene. It has a relaxed, romantic vibe inside and has live music many nights. When we arrived, there was a Jack Johnson-esque singer/guitarist performing. The chef, who I was told is also the owner, was behind the bar and told us to sit wherever we wanted. I thought this a little odd, but my companion said that such things were common here, and the owner could run hot and cold, which lead me to feel unsure about our decision to come here. But boy, am I glad we did! They have an extensive craft beer list, and after making our selections, we decided to split two specials - the lobster macaroni and cheese and the schezuan noodles. The schezuan noodles had a great heat, as well as a tangy and sweet flavor that was addicting. The lobster macaroni and cheese had a mellower flavor, but was creamy and rich. Both dishes were fantastic. Our waitress was attentive and friendly. I would say that all in all, Norey's hits all the high notes, and I am looking forward to coming back!

Review is purely on the Allagash Tap Takeover, which was awesome. I need to find James Bean closer to DC. The beers and the variety push this to a four, but the slow and mmehh service knocked the overall review to a 3.

Norey's is fantastic! We had a party of 4 and made a reservation for 7pm on a Friday evening. We got there and there was only one or two other couples in the restaurant. We were a little worried about the lack of people in there. By the time we left the place was packed and every table and bar seat taken! So to start, the service was probably one of the BEST I've ever experienced! We had SEVERAL wait staff attend to our needs and check on us. the bar tender was great at making some beer recommendations. the Beer menu was absolutely incredible. Not only was there a great variety of beers on tap there was 2 pages of imported beers from all over! I've never seen a beer (bottle) selection like what Norey's has! As far as the food goes: FABULOUS! We started with the fried goat cheese appetizer and some raw oysters. The oysters were the best I've ever had! They were so good! My entree was the Lobster Mac n Cheese. It was delicious! We were so full from our meals we didn't get to experience the desserts. I can't say enough about the service at this restaurant! Seriously one of the best service anywhere I've been. The price for several drinks (at least 8 drinks), (2) appetizers and our (4)entrees was very reasonable. Under $180 for four people! Highly recommend!

I sat at bar on a Wednesday night for music. Everyone said that they had good food but it was just ok. Bartenders were not attentive. I asked for water multiple times and it never came. They seemed to just want to serve customers ordering cocktails even though I was also eating and drinking. Final straw was ordered dessert that never came. (That is what Noreys is know for). Finally asked for a check and was happy to leave.

Great food and drink and love the Wednesday night music! Shared the Asian lettuce wrap, burger ( from Blackbird Farm), and Lobster Mac n cheese between us and they were great. Maybe the lobster was a bit skimpy for the price but tasted great. Wonton appetizer was tasty.

If you don't give this place 5 stars, you haven't lived long enough to appreciate what they offer. They offer some of the best Belgian beer selections in America. (Yes, you read that correctly.). The food is outstanding as well.

Great variety of craft beers. I could do some damage on that alone, but I had to drive. Ordered oysters as an appetizer, which were kick ass. Had a stir fry dish as an entree which was a bit of a letdown after the oysters (cold night, needed something warm). Not bad, I just don't think I would go out of my way to order again. A little run of the mill. Place was very busy, and our server struggled mightily to keep up with it, and so we waited. I don't blame her however, as she was overloaded. Overall, the positives outweigh the negatives, which is why a 4.

Fantastic local place, and indeed a beer lovers dream. We fancy sticking around Broadway when we go out in Newport, and almost always end up stopping here. Sometimes I am disappointed there is not a full bar option (though in the summer they usually offer a specialty cocktail of some sort, I miss that raspberry sake mojito!), but the wine/beer menu is so fantastic, I am never left wanting. The bartender is very knowledgeable and the chef is creative. Great menu has changing daily/weekly specials. Yummy small plates/appetizers. The inside has a nice warm ambiance. Usually they have an early special, half off appetizers from 4-6. Used to not get too busy, but I guess the word is out.. there seems to be a bit of a crowd most weekends now.

Smelled like an old attic. The dark wooden interior grasped at a old-time feel that was tragically betrayed by the immature, incompetent staff. Our waitress was terrible. She served our beer after a 30 minute wait in a glass fit for a king...mouse. I couldn't help but laugh at the sight of a bourbon glass half full of beer and half full of foam. What should have been a delicious porter was ruined by a small blonde with a bad attitude and by an overflowing mouthful of head - something I hadn't expected until arriving home after dinner. Furthermore, you'd think that chocolate cake with a simple vanilla buttercream icing would be hard to mess up - wrong. While the chocolate cake was stale and crunchy in places that should have been moist, the buttercream frosting was so sweet I almost mistook it for a Katy Perry video circa 2009. In conclusion, I will not be returning to a restaurant that plays the Robert Redford version of the Great Gatsby on repeat, as is Norey's apparent MO. I would've rathered to have spent our wasted $16 on Leo's Great Gatsby and a six pack of Keystone than to have suffered through the travesty that is Norey's. Will not be going back.

Tried the short ribs (both asian and buffalo style) and they were superb! Tender, full of flavor, we wanted to order more! We also tried an appetizer that was like a cheese fondue, it was also delicious. I can't recall the name, it was served with slices of bread and it tasted even better than Swiss fondue! Dessert was also good, although nothing super special, we shared a chocolate cake. Server was super attentive.

If you happen to be in Newport in the summer and want to find a cool location away from the tourist infested area of Thames, Norey's and Broadway are the place to be. They have a great beer selection, Lukas the bartender is super nice, wine on tap, and they have the best wings I have every in my life tasted. Im salivating right now just thinking about those wings. They also have really good other food, but those wings... ugh! So tasty. The only downside about Norey's (if this can be considered a downside), is that they do not do take-out orders, so when you become obsessed with the wings you can just order them for pick up. Poopie!

Great food and great beer, but by far the douchiest and most pretentious establishment I've ever been in. It's basically a dive bar pretending not to be a dive bar with stupid snooty rules and condescension. First, their "no hats, no logo shirts" policy is pretty dumb, since this place is basically a dive. I don't know what they're trying to accomplish with it, but at least it doesn't seem to be enforced based on what the guy sitting next to me at the bar was wearing. Then there's the menu, where they warn you that if you order your burger underdone, you had better be prepared to pay for it and not get it changed. Fine with me, I order burgers medium rare and don't care if they're underdone. Then there's the sign at the bar that says "Once we pour it, it's yours." Pure douchedom. Apparently this one even applies to the staff. The bartender poured a beer for the waitress, then she came over and barked at him, "I hope you poured that beer for yourself!" since apparently he had poured the wrong one. I felt bad for the guy, I'm assuming it came out of his paycheck/tips. The management that make and enforce these policies must be crazy. Anyway, I had a burger that was half beef and half bacon and it was awesome. The bartender knew his beer, and the ones I had were amazing. I would have visited here more during my stay, but I don't take anxiety medication.

Great spot! We went here on a Wednesday night to listen to a friend's band and had a terrific experience. AWESOME beer list, first of all. Lots of interesting Belgian and Trappist beers on tap that you won't see anywhere else. My boyfriend and I are big beer snobs and we were totally impressed. We sat at the bar and the bartender was excellent and on point. He greeted us right away and invited us to ask him if we had any questions. I had the Heavy Seas on cask (AMAZING) and my boyfriend had a couple of porters, including the Founders Sunday Morning Stout (which we had been looking for all week!) Service was quick - my empty glass got whisked away seconds after I put it down, and the bartender was always ready for us when we wanted to order. I'm surprised to see so many complaints about the service - table service might have been a bit slower, since I only saw one waitress on the floor and she was hauling ass all night! We did not try the food and I did not see a lot of vegetarian options (for me), so we'll probably just be coming here for drinks - but we will definitely visit again!

Love the desserts there because Norey makes them herself. Her carrot cake is out of this world. Hubby and I decided to graze Broadway. Had dinner at Malt and went to Noreys to have a nightcap and maybe bring home dessert. The bartender was so snotty this evening, September 17, 2015, that we didn't bother. We just left without ordering a thing.

Amazing craft beer bar that specializes in epic beers. Deep tap list and bottles are sure to please even the most discerning beer lover. Chef/owner Tyler Cullen assembled a blind tasting for us of Cantillon Gueueze and Oude Gueuze. I recommend this bar for any craft beer enthusiast that is even remotely in the area. A must see destination.

I'm going to start with the positives. The hummus of the day was a Spicy Basil hummus and it was delicious. The beer selection is fantastic. Our waitress, according to the receipt, was named "Bubbles" and she was great. I had some email dealings with a person named "Courtenay" and she was courteous and professional. So, why the 1-star rating? This restaurant treads a fine line with customer and food safety. Allow me to explain. My wife is allergic to cashews, however, all other nuts do not effect her. Knowing this, she ordered a Pear and Spinach salad. According to the menu, this comes with almonds. When it arrived, it had cashews on it. My wife asked the server about this. She went to get my wife another salad. She said that I could eat the salad with cashews if I wanted and I did. It was good but, in addition to the cashew substitution, I don't believe there were any pears in it. When Bubbles returned, she stated that they were indeed out of pears. In any case, we finished our dinner. I was slightly surprised that the salad was still on the bill but we didn't say anything. The next day, I contacted Norey through their website. I had a chance to sleep on the whole ordeal but I was a little perturbed when I was emailing them. The body of my email stated the following ~~""Unacceptable! My wife ordered the Pear and Spinach salad last night. Your menu stated it contains "almonds". That is the reason why my wife ordered it. It was served with cashews. My wife is allergic to cashews. You absolutely can not make substitutions like this with known allergens. The waitress brought us another salad without the nuts, but YOU WERE OUT OF PEAR!! We were still charged. This will be the last time that I come to your restaurant.""~~ My email was answered by a person named "Tyler". According to his signature and title in his email response, he is the "Executive Chef/Owner". I would expect a more professional response and reaction from the owner of a restaurant but this was the response that I received ~~""I'm sorry about your experience at Norey's if you're allergic to nuts you should've told the waitress before you ordered your food, or menu changes daily and we only ran to Paris at the very last few orders of the night it was a busy night I'm sorry about your experience at Norey's again. My name is Tyler I run the place please feel free to call an ask for me.""~~ I can tell you that they weren't that busy. We had no wait and were seated immediately. I don't know what Paris is, I can only guess that it's a food supply business?? I did not appreciate the insinuation that this was somehow either my fault or the fault of my wife's. Is this the type of restaurant that you want to patronize? If you have a food allergy, are you willing to roll the dice and assume that a restaurant is looking out for your best interests? I meant what I said, I'm not going back. Here's another interesting part. I actually responded to Tyler. Here's my response in it's entirety ~~""Your menu clearly stated "almonds". My wife is not allergic to almonds. So she ordered that salad. It is your responsibility to notify a customer of a change to the printed menu. You, or someone changed the dish to include cashews. My wife is allergic to cashews but since the menu clearly stated almonds, there shouldn't have been an issue. Your waitress did not inform us of the menu change. Never mind, I'll save it for yelp.""~~ After this email, I received a much more professional and courteous email, this time from a person named "Courtenay". Her response went like this ~~""Thomas this is Courtenay and i help Tyler get to emails/reservations/etc. apologies on not responding to the first email. Noreys is closed on sundays so there is little checkin happening on Sundays. I see that Tyler did return a brief email your way. Either way, Please accept my apology from chef and staff as we truly made an overlook. Noreys very rarely(perhaps a few times a year) makes changes to the regular dinner menu -- chef leaves new dishes for the nightly specials! Again -- you are correct in stating this change needed to be communicated and we will be sure to remind ourselves and the staff of this fact. If it was changed after our doors opened we would not have been able to change the menu but the staff shld always communicate changes throughout the night. We hope you come back and join us for another meal and perhaps your other dishes were tasty. And we apologize about the salad having been left on the bill, as well. If u wld like a refund or perhaps a drink or two on us over a next visit please let us know and Tyler will take care of it -- I am unable to confirm any cash handling but from his email below its clear he is standing by. again we thank you for coming in to see us and we do hope u come again as Noreys has been proudly filling bellies for over 14 years now and we hate to lose a customer. Thank you""~~ How hard was that, Tyler?

Norey's is a wonderful, easygoing joint. Their beer selection is unbelievable and our waitress was so kind about letting us have a couple of samples before we chose. The Oysters Rockefeller were out of this world. We ordered two portions. The music was good and the vibe even better. A very relaxing, fun place.

I want to throw my hands up in the air and cry "What happened to the Norey's I used to know!" Back in 2013 this was our go-to dinner spot; the amazing lobster macaroni and cheese, the addicting homemade hummus with grilled bread .. no matter what you ordered off the menu, you could.not.go.wrong! It seems two years have changed some things. Sure, the service was always on the lower side of average, but it's worse now. No more lobster macaroni and cheese on the menu. And quite frankly, we brought in a group of about 15 people and not a single one was wow'd with their meals. Two meals didn't even come out; we ended up taking them to go because the majority of us were beyond done. (we felt bad because we had just met all those people that day and then invited them along with us to enjoy some yummy Newport goodies - oops!) Sad to say, but Norey's is off our list. We didn't even give it a second chance.

My favorite hangout in Newport, by far! Love the atmosphere. No shortage of outstanding beers -- which change almost daily, for you beer connoisseurs. And the food is awesome. The menu changes just about daily, as well. When they have them -- any of their smoked meats are great; the bacon appetizer is a killer! Love the pastrami sandwich. The pork chops and pork tenderloins are great. The steaks are great. The pesto pasta is very good. By all means, save room for the superb desserts (made fresh daily with TLC by THE one and only Norey). Frankly, I've never had a bad dish here. The friendly hosts and hostesses more than compensate for the shyness of the manager, who just doesn't enjoy mingling and visiting. His focus is on giving patrons a great dish of food. Anyone who prefers great food, well-prepared, over glad-handing with the chef should be fine with that. If you'd rather chit-chat with the chef, Norey's may disappoint you. Either way, I'd still recommend this be a stop on your "must do" itinerary while you're in Newport.

We had a great, great time at Norey's. Our waitress was a doll, the beer poureth a plenty, and the food!!! Local beers and seriously, good, good food. Do yourself a favor.... Order some beef wontons, share a brisket sammie and enjoy life. Well done. Our waitress, Heather, was fantastic!!!

Spectacular array of beers, constantly fresh and new. Try the smoked wings! It's a bit eclectic but totally fun and we love coming here. Buffalo Mac and cheese was a big hit but the smoked pastrami Reuben left a bit to be desired.

Wish we could have had a competent waitress who knew the menu. She literally just said to other people in our party "well that's the best I can do for you" to me that's unacceptable. We will not be back and she will be tipped accordingly

The beer bar that put Rhode Island on the map. I find things on tap here that make NYC beer bars weep with jealousy. The best thing about Norey's is that it doesn't have a full liquor license, which means that all of Tyler's passion and creativity goes into his beer and wine. The mead menu here is bigger than half the beer lists in Rhode island. Wine is an afterthought here, and it's my favorite wine list on the island. They have port on tap. Port. On. Tap. The second best thing about Norey's is the lobster mac & cheese.

My expectations for Norey's were way higher. In sum..... Food: The menu is pretty limited. When I came, I got a Quesadilla, which was decent, but not significantly memorable. Booze: The beer and wine selection is fabulous, with lots of variety from around the world. It truly has excellent options. Service: This was the part of my experience that I hope would change when I come back. Not only was our server extremely slow, and inattentive, but she completely messed up our bill. Once we brought it to her attention and argued, she tried to still say that we were wrong. It wasn't until the 4th time she came over that she realized it was her mistake. And yet still, nothing about the bill was compensated for her charging us almost double. Atmosphere: It is dark, with a "wine bar esque" feeling. It is somewhat romantic yet casual. Due to most of my downfalls being from the service and the bill, I definitely would like to try it again. At this point, however, I can't say many positive things about my overall experience.

Great atmosphere and great food and service! We came here during the Newport boat show and when all other restaurants were packed they had a great booth waiting for us! Fried pickles were huge and delicious!! Meals were perfect....I had the boneless BBQ ribs and fries and my fiance had the Buffalo chicken sandwich...which was just hot enough and huge!! Waitresses were all very nice Bartender was awesome as well...everyone came by to either check up on us or help each other which I feel is important...it was like they were a team! Beer and wine only...but a huge assortment available!!! Jazzy music made it chill...and they even play old school movies behind the bar for an old school jazzy feel We had a great relaxing time here and will be back!

This was the perfect place to enjoy a few glasses of wine and have an appetizer or three. The atmosphere was calm and the music was fantastic. I will be coming back as often as possible!

The wings tasted like hotdogs. The beer selection was basically a "takeover" from a particular brewery so not much selection. The bottled beer was all priced at around $20, so not much selection though still the best I've seen in Newport.

I just decided to write this review after a year. I probably had one of the most unpleasant experiences at this place. Their beer selection is excellent I will admit however their own creations of taking perfectly good beer and adding wine and aging is different. Don't order the Old Engine Oil because whatever they do to it there, it's not good. The beer alone is very good but with wine in it, not so much. I went here with my cousin and friend and sat at the bar. Took a while for the bartender to come over but finally I chose a bottled beer. As the bartender brought it over, I saw he was bringing a glass. I told him I prefer drinking it out of the bottle and he said, We prefer pouring it in a glass because we feel you can appreciate the quality. Really? I consider my self pretty knowledgable in the craft beer world and I think if a customer wants to drink a beer in the bottle then they should. Needless to say, I drank my beer in a glass. Then they were playing Some Like It Hot over and over without sound on the TV, so we asked if they could put on the Red Sox game. The bartender told me they don't play sports at their bar, they weren't that kind of establishment. So maybe after 40 mins some other people came in and low and behold they put the Red Sox on. Then after being there probably about an hour, the bartender told me cousin to take his cap off. He did of course but I was wondering why he didn't ask him when we first got there. Then to it off my cousin said to me that there were ants crawling on the bar and there were about 6 or 7 ants crawling. We told the bartender & he looked at us and seemed shocked and then came over with a cloth and wiped them away. It was just such a strange night. I get the impression that they are looking for a certain clientele that they want in there and clearly we were not it. I love the beer selection like I said but I don't think I can bring myself to go there again.

I had high hopes for a "gastro pub" type experience in this haughty town that also serves up free live music. It's just an odd start off when the hostess comes up to you and invites you to sit anywhere (does not seat you, lets you pick your spot but takes several minutes to come by with menus) I mean - why not seat your patrons with menus? Then offers you water, disappears, then the server comes over and asks if you want water. Also when asked what was in the lettuce wraps (as there is no description on the menu) the server says "chicken" That's it? Chicken? Just odd. I guess one can chalk it up to early in the season lack of training. The food was good, chicken wings = spectacular. Hot and spicy crunchy and hot temperature. I could not quite identify the smoky spice but it was delish. Lobster mac and cheese - as advertised. nice small chunks of lobster distributed throughout,,, not too heavy of a cheese spice, and the elbow noodles were baked nicely, not too soft. Avocado hummus - meh, pass on this tomato basil soup - I could not taste the basil, and it was a little too creamy for my taste crab dip - yum Also odd to have a check dropped without asking for it. OH well these things can be fixed and I would recommend it because this place has a cool vibe, an amazing list of beers, and of course the live music.

Stumbled across this place while walking down Broadway and just got a really good vibe from it. Dinner specials are written in chalk or paint on the front window. Lobster mac-n-cheese was very good and so was the chicken quesadilla. Prices aren't cheap but they won't break the bank either. Impressive beer list: 6 quality taps plus 100+ in the bottle. Great selection of rare and special release beers, and the wine list was impressive as well. Has a dark hipster vibe with plenty of red(ish) lights. A fun place for dinner for two or four; probably even better if you're with friends at the bar just for drinks. This is definitely a place where the locals hang out (a good thing!) and a nice change of pace from the same ol' overpriced and overcrowded Thames Street.

My husband and I just love this place. The renovation looks terrific, and this place has the wonderful, laid back yet edgy neighborhood feel that we Newporters love. The food is consistent, and always wonderful. Best hummus I have ever had, and Norey's sweet vinaigrette I would match against any five star French chef. My only complaint? PLEASE bring back the escargot. PLEASE!!!!! :) :)

I guess this place confuses me.. If you have a huge bar at your establishment.. Serve as many different beers as any bar in Newport. Have tv's in the bar. Have stools to sit at the bar. If there's a local teams playoff game on (celtics bruin pats ) Please take off the black and white slide show of the st paddies day parade cir. 1987.. I wanted to tare my eyes out ... If the pats game was on I would of increased the star rating to 4 and if the volume was on 5...

Norey's is my beer bar of choice. With 16 taps there's always a great draft to drink. And, since they are rotated more than once a season, the list always stays fresh. If you have a favorite beer, there's a strong chance it's here. If not, there's an even stronger chance the head chef (and fellow beer lover) has tried it. And he's certainly willing to talk about it. If you're hungry, there's always something great on special to eat. If you decide to order a quick bite to eat, the quattro formaggio app is the way to go. The servers, bartenders, and runners are all fun loving people and pleasant to be around. Bottom line - if you like great food, beer, and people you need to head to Norey's.

Poopie!

Awesome menu with local specialties and some healthy options which is hard to find when you are on vacation. Grate menu with some very impressive options on tap. Dessert sounded amazing but I was just too full, but I will be back.

What. a. cute. :)

Norey's place has the best sour beer collection in the northeast! I had a great time and they also has a few things off the menu which made it an even better night trying some new beers!!!!

This place was awesome. Great selection of beer and we got the military discount on a Monday night. Our server was great and my deconstructed lobster ravioli was delish. Great atmosphere. We will definitely be back.

Helpful staff, chill atmosphere, good beer selection and interesting menu. Menus is a mix between Asian, Italian and Mexican fare with interesting palette selection- jerk pork quesadillas- it works- quite yummy. The Quattro fromaggi was a dream. Cheese coma was a wonderful experience.

This was the perfect place to enjoy a few glasses of wine and have an appetizer or three. The food was absolutely delicious, I would recommend the Quattro Fromaggi specifically, but you really can't go wrong with any of the items on menu.

PLEASE!!!!! :) :)

Wonderful beer and whine selection; however, their prices are much to steep compared to nearby establishments! Pretty inside and nice and quiet due to everyone being up the street. Great date location!

What. a. cute. :)

PLEASE!!!!! :) :)
