I went to Newport with the bf this past weekend and stayed at the La Farge Perry House. We had the John La Farge room which has a four post queen sized bed and a large bathroom complete with double jacuzzi tub. We were greeted upon arrival by Midge, the innkeeper and her dog Jax. I love dogs so to me this wasn't an issue but for those who are allergic or dont like dogs, this may not be the place for you as Jax was around often. He even came right into our room for awhile :) The inn is beautiful with murals on the wall and really nice moldings. There is a common living room with a tv for all guests to enjoy. Each room also has a tv. Midge bakes cookies and sets them out daily for guests to enjoy and she tells you to make yourself at home while staying at the inn. The room itself was decent sized and the bathroom was large and roomy. One thing i wasn't a fan of was the location of the room. Its the only bedroom on the 1st floor and it is directly located near the entrance door, which squeaks like crazy so i heard every time a guest went in and out. She really needs to oil those hinges! All other rooms are upstairs which are probably much quieter. There were fresh flowers in the room as well as everywhere else in the house. Very nice!! Breakfast each morning is between 8-10 and is cooked to order. We had fresh fruit, scones, and Midge offered a choice of either eggs benedict or eggs any way with toast. There was also cold cereal, coffee and tea. There are snacks such as chips and yogurt in the kitchen and guests are invited to help themselves throughout their stay. We will definitely stay here again when we come back to Newport but will try another room. We appreciated the turn down service at night and the homemade cookies that were sent home with us when we left. The innkeeper lives at the inn in an apartment upstairs so she is close by for anything you may need.

My wife and I stayed here for a few days. We loved it. The breakfast was really amazing and the room was immaculate. We will definitely be revisiting soon!

Beautiful house with a friendly innkeeper who gave superb recommendations for places to check out in the area (and there are many places at that). The breakfast was simple but solid, the room was very large and tastefully decorated with a king size bed which was very comfortable. The bath robes in the room were a nice touch. We didn't have one of the rooms with a jacuzzi but if you get one of those you'll probably have lots of fun.W did however have a bath which was small but has jets. The house has many excellent restaurants and cafes in walking distance. You can also walk to the mansions if you're in good shape (we did and it was a beautiful walk). I'd strongly recommend this B&B, especially off season when you can get very reasonably priced rooms, and there is still lots to do in town.

First B&B experience and it was fantastic. Walking distance to downtown Newport, delicious breakfast, clean rooms and the in keeper was friendly and helpful with recommendations. I strongly recommend this B&B for a weekend in Newport.

Great time, nice overall. It was clean, it had character, great innkeeper, and great location. Looking forward to next time we can go.

What a lovely Bed & Breakfast! We went for a celebratory weekend away and I'll tell you that I had a hard time choosing a B&B because there are sooo many in Newport. I'm really glad we ended up at La Farge Perry. It's in a wonderful location and just a short walk to Thames Street. The mansions are also a walkable distance, if you so choose, being less than 2 miles away. The house is beautiful. Every room completely spotless. Upon entering, you're informed by the lovely innkeeper, Jennifer, that the house is all "yours" and she will tour you around all the common areas including a nice room off the kitchen where you can sit and watch a movie in front of the fire if you so please. They even have a selection of DVDs for you to choose from. The rooms are lovely, the breakfast is made to order and scrumptious...what more can you ask for? I definitely recommend.

This is a great bed and breakfast for getting away from NYC for a weekend. The innkeeper is very nice and has an awesome little dog. There are plants everywhere and the house is full of history. The original deed and mortgage to the house is hanging on the wall. The rooms are very well kept and the bathrooms are very modern (as opposed to the rest of the house which feels original). Now for breakfast...fruit, home made muffins, sausage, and eggs bendict on Sundays. The best that I have ever eaten cooked right to order. They even have cereal and fruit and gluten free options. Next time we are going to stay in the room with a jacuzzi.

I had a wonderful time staying here during my honeymoon. I honestly have no complaints about the La Farge Perry House. We were welcomed with a bottle of champagne in our room which was the John Lafarge room (only room on the 1st floor). Midge the innkeeper was so nice and welcoming. She gave us plenty of recommendations on sights and places to eat. She would wake up early every morning and bake fresh scones, the smell would wake us up every day during our stay. For breakfast, Midge would prepare a variation of eggs, pancakes, french toast, fresh fruit and juices. I believe breakfast is served from 7:45 - 10 am. I can not comment on the rest of the rooms but my room was very comfortable and nicely decorated. The bathroom was very clean and the 2 person jacuzzi was a nice bonus. One thing to note is that this B&B is not as close to the Wharfs and Thames Street area as others but we had no problem walking to them. I strongly recommend this place to anyone who is considering a B&B in Newport. Thanks again Midge!

I can't speak highly enough of my experience at La Farge Perry! After a month of researching each and every bed and breakfast and hotel in the Newport area, my boyfriend and I decided on La Farge for a romantic getaway weekend for my birthday. I was skeptical about staying in a bed and breakfast, as I wanted privacy and thought it might be weird to live in a small house with other strangers. However, my boyfriend, the grandson of longtime bed and breakfast owners, convinced me that I would love it. Boy, was he right. Upon arrival, we were greeted by innkeeper Midge and her precious dog, Jaxi. I was impressed by the beautiful foyer and fell in love with the rest house by the end of our tour. We stayed in the Margaret Perry room which had a bouquet of roses and chilled wine waiting for us, thanks to my boyfriend and Midge's help. The next morning, we enjoyed a delicious breakfast cooked by Midge (a former NYC chef) and some great conversation with the other guests who were also from New York, which gave us lots to talk about. I'm a huge foodie, so I was excited to see that there were chocolate covered strawberries and macaroons in the foyer 24/7. Yum! Midge gave us a bag of the macaroons and a recipe to take home with us and I'm hoping to bake some of my own soon. Although there were other guests there, we rarely saw them walking around and at times we felt we were the only ones in the house. We loved that we had free range to the entire first floor and could enjoy the kitchen, living room and den at our leisure. Our stay at La Farge Perry is something that we will always remember. The service, food, amenities and ambience were impeccable. Thank you Midge and Jaxi for making us feel at home.
