Interesting menu. Hanger steak was excellent. Mixed up our wines.

Best place in Newport for eating and drinking! Dont tell anyone, wouldnt want it to get super crowded! We ALWAYS get the gorgonzola dip to start, I have dreams about it, its so good. One of my favorite entrees is the chicken fried lobster. We love playing ring-toss in the bar as long as its not too crowded and Mark is a great bartender so make sure to tip him :)

The food was great. Michelle, our waitress, was absolutely phenomenal. She made great recommendations and went out of her way to anticipate our needs. She is one of the best waitresses we've ever had.

I. Love. Zelda's. I'm definitely not from New England and venturing out in the cold is not something high on my list these days! However, I never have any problem heading out into the -10 degree weather for their steak tar tar and martini's. Also... their espresso martini's definitely give Asterisks a run for their money.

Yummy if pricy, this restaurant sticks out from among the other bar food in town with more sophisticated dishes. The pear and something or other soup du jour was really good, not thick but it had a chewy texture because of the grainy-ness of the pear--really good. Caesar salad with real dressing. And a tuna appetizer that I didn't picture being as fried and cooked as it was; I like mine a bit rarer but it was nice, served on a bed of seaweed salad. Bartender makes a smooth martini too!

1) We sat in the back dining room.It was so noisy we had a hard time hearing each other. 2) This restaurant is a bit pricey. 3) We had to send our clam chowder back because it was full of bacon/ham pieces which was not revealed on the menu or by the waitress. 4) Two of our party ordered the red fish special. Both were very bland. 5) they added 20% tip to our bill because we were a party of 7. We understood, but typically it is 18% and .calculated on the pre tax amount NOT the post tax amount.. We complained and they adjusted the bill. In fairness most of the other dishes were good. One other negative was that our waitress could have been more friendly.Overall experience was not great.

Café Zelda seems to have a split personality. If entering through the bar, as you do in winter, you would think it was a casual tavern. And it is. At least in this portion of the place. The bar is small and has always been packed whenever I have been there which, before stopping in this Saturday after hiking with my son and dog along First Beach and The Cliff Walk, had admittedly been awhile. Stepping into the dining room is the other side of Zelda's, figuratively and literally. The decor is upscale modern: clean, warm, well-spaced tables, visually appealing accents. I love the oil painting of schooner on the bookshelf to the right as you enter from the bar. Striking. The room, however, was cold. And I am the guy who is always complaining when a room is too hot, as in more than 70F. The heat was off. What also really struck me were the dinner menu prices. All but two entrees - a $19 fried calamari dish and a $12 hamburger - were well into in the mid - and upper-$20s. This was a lot more expensive than I had planned. In fairness, I should have looked at the menu which was clearly posted on the sidewalk. Still we stayed. My Portuguese-style grilled pork chop with littlenecks ($26) featured a small chop - maybe 8 oz. - swimming in a thin pool of garlicky tomato-based broth. It was not at all spicy as the menu indicated. The pork was lean, standard supermarket quality; definitely not Berkshire. The four clams were undercooked, but not terribly, and I like raw bar anyway. A very mediocre dish. My son had the dinner portion Steak Tartare ($24). This untraditional version had capers and onion mixed in along with a good quality olive oil and dry mustard, which was a nice foil to the rich, tasty beef. The tartare was served with a meager portion of frites and four toasted slices of baguette - inadequate for the amount of ground steak - rather than traditional toast points. There was no chopped egg. The entrée gets a thumbs up for the quality of the beef and flavor profiles. Well done. Service was friendly and fairly attentive, though the server could have offered more bread and olive oil, especially after dropping obvious hints. Suppose I could have just outright asked. A local beer - Newport Storm - was a quaffable amber. At $4.75, it is a deal. I won't be rushing back to Zelda's, but would not rule it out either. Came for brunch and was very disappointed. Wasn't that busy but waited 35 minutes for a burger and steak and eggs. The steak was tiny. For $18 you would expect a decent offering. Left hungry. Service was weak as well, might have been partly the chefs fault in the food area but not how long it took to bring the bill and run the credit card. So many good places to visit. Skip this place.

Glad to see the food and service quality hasn't changed since our last visit... Both are top notch! I had the tuna this time around.... Nicely prepared sushi quality! Enjoyed it with a well made dirty martini, also nicely made. This is a cool little place right on Thames. The also have a nice bar too

Walking down Thames and we saw the 3-day special for a Prix Fixe menu $27 for a glass of wine, starter, entree, and dessert. Let me tell you they didn't skimp! I'll back up, though. We walked in and it was gorgeous. The most beautiful restaurant I've seen (a little tight sitting), but really nice. We obviously went with the Prix Fixe menu and it was such a deal. Normally, an entree alone is $25. The white wine was amazing; the garlic soup was so delicious; a really heft entree size (herbed chicken over alfredo pasta) and the dessert was the icing on the cake - salted caramel gelato. Our waitress was very accommodating and professional. We couldn't stop raving about the place the entire time we were there. Their Prix Fixe menus are SUCH A DEAL. You would be crazy to eat anywhere else on that day. Delicious. I'd give it 4.5 stars just because the (starter) salad was lacking on dressing, but the toppings were fabulous (cherries, apples, and toasted walnuts).
(4)Jessica S.
Very courteous, attentive and conscientious staff, even when it came to my long list of food allergies. Our waitress made recommendations on 2 different bottles of wine, both of which we loved; and allowed us to sample a glass of another one, which we didn't care for nearly as much.

4 1/2 stars all the way!! From reservation to seating to coffee and dessert a thoroughly enjoyable experience. Service is friendly and helpful. Ambiance is warm and New Orleans-ish. Green and white striped wallpaper, dark and warm wood and atmosphere. Fireplace for colder days. No A/c tonight but fans provided. Loved our entire evening: Began with a Malbec and a gin and tonic (there are 2 of us dining) with good bread and olive oil. Apps of cold shrimp and point Judith calamari with Thai dipping sauce (great homemade sauce). Moved on to chicken with garlic mashed potatoes grilled asparagus (sauce for chix was strawberry balsamic glaze-delicious). I had seared ahi tuna. It was perfectly raw. Dessert was bread pudding with bourbon sauce and really good coffee. Honey had a lagavulin scotch. We sat and held hands and it was a wonderfully perfect 25th anniversary dinner. We would come back anytime!!

THIS PLACE IS SO GOOD NINTENDO MADE VIDEO GAMES ABOUT IT. Seriously though, the duck leg and sausage is perfect-o. I liked the downtempo music too, and the staff was super nice.

How so you make the ordinary extraordinary? Order the almond crusted pork chops. Wonderful ambience. Friendly, very attentive staff. Can't wait to return.

Here to try their lunch menu on restaurant week. Clam chowder soup is delicious. Calamari was good too. The Thai sauce was tasty but I like the calamari as it is. Batter is light and crispy but a tat salty. Plenty of food for lunch. Had to take out remaining food.
(4)Rose L.
Quaint tavern restaurant with separate bar area. They have a decent selection for lunch choices. We had the ahi tuna for starter which was nicely prepared in a light and crispy batter with soy vinagerette and seaweed salad. Also tried the chowder which is done differently - milky and not as chunky but quite flavorful. For main entrees, we tried the special - duck salad over bed of baby arugula, ginger and citrus and a baguette with ham, gruyere and fries. All were good. Duck was flavorful and cooked nicely keeping the meat tender. Some folks may complain its too red, but its not and that was served right. We were stuffed so no time for dessert. Def recommend as it is one of the few restaurants open at this time of year and quite tasty offerings. Great stop from touring mansions, walking around.

Mediocre food. Slow service. Nice atmosphere. Mesclun salad was very odd. Tuna was so-so. Friend voted the clam chowder least favorite compared to other restaurants in Newport.

I'm away for a weekend in Newport and just stopped in for lunch today at Cafe Zelda. Had the Grilled Salmon Salad lunch special. It was good. I left feeling like I had a satisfying salad. The salad had about 1/2 lb of grilled salmon. It gets more credit than a lot of "grilled salmon" because this one actually had some grill char on the outside while being cooked to the right temperature on the inside. The salad greens weren't just generic lettuces, but a mixture of fresh watercress, peppers, and a couple of other greens. There was a vinaigrette on it, but it was fairly light (something I appreciate when the restaurant dresses the salad for you - can always add, never take away). Server was a younger female who also seated us. She was really nice and happy to answer all of our questions. Good meal. Solid lunch.

I consider it a good sign when it's packed on a Monday night. When we lived here a few years ago, we only ever made it out for lunch. We both opted for the striped bass, and while I started with oysters, my husband chose the escargot. I'm so glad the escargot is still on the menu! The bass was hearty, but the sweetness of the squash and the bitterness of the arugula brought a nice balance. As busy as they were, I never felt rushed and the staff all seemed to work together very well. I miss Cafe Zelda!
(4)Maureen L.
great vibe! Small but hopping, even on the off-season. They have a wonderful prix fixe option during Nov (perhaps Dec too). But I chose to get something off the menu. Had the oysters; I love the choice of local RI ones and Sakonnet were lovely. The scallops with tomator buerre blanc and polenta was great... Polenta was piping hot which meant I didn't have to rush eating as each bite including the polenta was still hot! Ended with the Chocolate Marquis which was like smooth rich fudge truffle filling - rich enough to share. Will be back next time I visit!

Stopped in here on a very cold and windy Saturday afternoon. Several locals at the bar which I always take as a good sign. I had the muscles and arugula salad. The muscles were amazing, went perfectly with a beer. The salad was well prepared and lightly dressed which let the natural flavor of the arugula come through. Would go back next time I'm in Newport.

The dish to top all other dishes: Chicken-Fried Lobster. Four stars for that absolutely divine, battered and fried delight! Not too much work to eat - half the shell remains, but the meat easily peels away, leaving part of the batter around the shell so your arteries don't close up quite as much. Mashed potatoes with lobster gravy (yum) and coleslaw (ehh- never been a fan anywhere) on the side. Two in one: Small bar on the side of this F. Scott Fitzgerald's-other-half-inspired establishment; tons of Sperry's, laid-back, and buzzy vibe. On the other side - restaurant decor could use a face-lift, but it's just dated. Service is good; they were out of the bottle of Cakebread we wanted with dinner upon our last visit, but decent Ferrari-Carano to stand in and quickly offered upon the retraction of our initial wine order. Monday has a short list of half price entrees, but the aforementioned dish won out over the $12-$14 discounted options. In no way the 'best' of Newport- but so much fun and part of the landscape! Don't trip on the door-way between the restaurant and bar - and only two small bathrooms (M and F) available at the back of the bar shared for both venues (they can get kind of gross if you're there for a late night meal as well). Still, worth being on rotation and not a typical tourist trap. There are actually locals here, even in the summer, and far enough down Thames that you may actually find street parking.

This restaurant was a great start to my Newport visit. I would likely come here again and would recommend others to try. Service - 5 Cordial and timely. They treated us very well asking how the meal was going and refilling our water as needed. Food - 4.5 The food was great all around. Beet and goat cheese sandwiches - 5 - delicious Crispy Calamari - soft, crunchy and great sauce - 5 Baby Aragula and Belgian Endive Salad - 5 - delicious Clam Chowder - 5 - one of the best I've had. Burger - 4.5 - Huge, and tasty, but nothing out of ordinary. The bread to start could be better, but oil is nice. Atmosphere - 5 Relaxing atmosphere. A bit romantic as well with dim lightening. Quiet enough for a comfortable conversation. The bar next door adds to the vibe and is great to finish or start the evening. Value - 3.5 For the quality of food, service and setting the prices are very reasonable. There are some items that seem to be too high, but the menu also offers some items in the low 20s range.

The inn that we stayed at gave us a $50 gift card to a restaurant with our package, so I decided on Café Zelda. This is a good place to go if you are looking for something other than seafood. We started with the calamari that came with a thai dipping sauce that was really good and different. They had a roast duck special that night that came with mashed potatoes, so I went with that since I have been wanting to try duck for awhile. Holy cow, it was amazing. The duck was nice and juicy but the skin was really crispy. The portion was HUGE, but I made an effort to eat every last bite because it was so good. I would definitely come back here for a nice meal when visting Newport.

Great food, nice atmosphere, excellent wine selection. My wife and I split two apps, the Calamari with Thai Sauce and the Foie Gras. Both were outstanding. I had the Steak Frites, perfectly prepared. The frites are addictive so watch out! The wife had Duck Confit. It was delicious but can be somewhat hard to eat.

A fun bar on one side and a decent restaurant through the doors. The doors help keep the noise from the bar from bugging patrons. The bar is a fun place where mostly locals enjoy libations, pretty darn good apps and good food. The bartenders are all pleasant and attentive. A good selection of beers on tap and a surprisingly good selection of ports to choose from. Also, my wife informed me that the chairs at the bar are perfect. Their height in relation to the bar, the angle of the back, the footrest and even the shape of the seat itself. OKay, sounds like she actually put some thought into it. Nice. Overall this place is a fun spot to stop in and grab a cocktail while out and about on Thames Street.
(4)Adam M.
Only had drinks at the bar, but this is now my wife's favorite bar. Crowded, but in a good way. Decent drinks, but the friendly, local crowd was the reason to stay.
(5)Ron M.
Though a bit pricy, since this is Newport, not Manhattan, the meal was extremely tasty. Menu choices are a tad different than status quo, but appears well designed. Didn't hear any complaints from the other 3. Plans to return are in the making sometime down the road.

Loved this place til I watched a dog literally eat at the bar. Hard to enjoy after seeing a poodle sit on a bar stool, licking a plate clean. Disgusting.
(1)Samantha S.
I love scallops, but was pretty disappointed. Not sure if it was because we came in towards the end of dinner service, but my scallops and mashed potatoes came with a tomato sauce moat. Really scallops, mashed potatoes and tomato sauce?!?! My bf ordered the hanger steak, which was good and had a great mustard sauce.

Love this gem! Came on a Friday night after moving to Newport and needed a night out after moving. This place was great. Sat at the bar, bartender was awesome! We asked for his recommendation for our main course and it was delish. Can't remember his name or the name of the chicken dish, but it was cooked perfectly. Food is a little pricey, but worth it. Calamari was also great as our appetizer & came with a nice Thai dipping sauce. Small place split in half with bar on one side with a few bar height tables and fancier dining with waiter service on the other. We had a great experience with our food and service and the bar was packed too.
(5)Larry H.
Was not as impressed - had to have a meal returned & picked something else. The bar is quite popular.

I immediately loved the decor in this small restaurant space: dark blue walls with thin white stripes, with photographs and models of sailboats throughout the cozy room. There is an adjacent bar with a door closing it off from the main dining room, keeping the noise level to a minimum. It's so very Newport :) We decided to order a couple appetizers to share, and opted for the Warm Gorgonzola Sourdough, which was a thick, gooey, creamy bath of warm Gorgonzola cheese and cream, topped with fresh diced tomatoes, and served with crispy toasted bread for dipping. It was incredibly mild in blue cheese flavor, with a slight punch of tang at the end. I love blue cheese of all kinds, and really enjoyed this dip/spread. The fresh tomatoes were a nice touch of acid and color as well. Our second appetizer was equally delicious. It was their take on sushi, a nice piece of ahi tuna, wrapped in seaweed, then breaded and fried to form a crispy exterior while keeping the fish raw. It was served over a bed of seaweed salad with wasabi, and a ponzu dipping sauce. I loved the texture of this dish, with the soft, melt-in-your-mouth raw ahi with a crispy fried surprise. I had never had seaweed salad before, but absolutely loved it! It had a crunchy texture and a strong sesame flavor. I could eat a huge bowl of it, and will have to keep that in mind next time I go for sushi! Cafe Zelda offers weeknight dinner specials. On Monday night they have a small selection of half-priced entrees, while the rest of the weeknights they offer a special prix fixe menu at a very reasonable price. I decided to order off the regular menu instead of trying one of the three offered half-priced entrees, although a couple of my dining companions tried the specials and really enjoyed their food. I immediately landed on the scallops as soon as I read the description... native corn, heirloom tomatoes, haricots verts, and citrus vinaigrette. Sold. It was the perfect dish of summer vegetables with my plump sea scallops. The scallops themselves were a little on the small side compared to some others I've had, but they were delicious nonetheless and the dish was incredibly filling! I was ready to burst by the end of the meal and couldn't even make room for dessert! I loved the fresh vegetables on my plate, the sweet corn, the tart and juicy heirloom tomatoes, and the crispy sweet haricots verts. It was heavier on vegetables than actual scallops, which looked a little unbalanced on the dish, but the five scallops I did have were tender and the meal as a whole was very very filling.

Love this place! The fact that it is only a couple blocks from where we live makes it even better! I have only eaten in the bar side of the restaurant, which is great! It's dark and cozy, a nice intimate vibe. Staff has been nice, thus far. The nori wrapped tuna is a MUST! So delicious, I have gotten it both times that I have been to Zelda. They also have a really good cheese plate that they source from Farmstead ... Yay for cheese!!! I am giving it 4 stars because I don't love their wine selection, but I am assuming the wine is not very high on their list ... I believe they focus more on their food, which is fine!

Zelda's is AWESOME if your looking for a great, nicer meal in Newport! I've only sat in the dining room but the bar always seems like it's full of fun people (usually seems like a generally middle-aged/older crowd - not kid's in their 20s) but the atmosphere in the bar always makes me want to stay in there when I make a trip through the bar to the restrooom. The service is great, atmosphere is vintage/nautical and the place is always well kept/clean. The food.. I've been here with a group of six and everyone left full and happy. The calamari is AMAZING, you can tell its super fresh and hand-breaded and the sauce they serve it with is out of this world - one of my top 3 calamari's I've had to date. For dinner, I've gotten both a fish special they were offering - a white fish served over some kind of spin on sauer kraut (which I usually hate but I went for it and it was delicious) and I've also gotten the steak frites, which is one of the best steaks I've had. The steak is always super tender, cooked perfectly, and they serve it with this mustardy/gorganzola type sauce - haven't quite put my finger on it but it's to die for. And the frites are also perfect and are so addicting. Have never saved enough room for dessert so I can't comment on that but I've never been disappointed! Again, highly recommend it for a nice dinner in Newport, and get the calamari and the steak frites - you won't regret it !

Cafe Zelda has always been one of my favorites. It is extremely intimate, romantic, and unique atmosphere. The bar entry makes you feel like you are in a bar in London, antiqued, nautical, and cozy. It is a small area, and always bussling with locals, sailors, aussies... all between 25-55 years old. It is one of my favorite fine dining spots in Newport. I typically get the steak when I come... it is the most mouthwatering and lush steak I have tasted. This most recent time, Greg and I came for restaurant week. We were seated by the window- which was great for people watching, but was also very cold. We also were seated next to a party of 20 women in their 50's... which was extremely loud. The rest of the resturaunt was full of dates like ourselves. We each ordered red wine. Greg got a Soup (which he was intrigued that it was purree), and I got the calamari. The calamari was melt in your mouth perfection. For second course, I got the pan-roasted local cod, and Greg got the filet. Both were in perfect portions and were cooked exactly as they were asked. The cod was HUGE, and was on a bed of delicious potatoes. For dessert, we each got the mousse. It was unbelievable. I have no words for an experience at this fine dining establishment except "perfect", "excellent" and "lush". Be prepared for your tastebuds to be divine and your smiles to be wide afterwards.

Dropped in with a party of 6 (no reservation) last Tuesday night and they quickly took care of us. The atmosphere was great (cool local's bar) and the food was terrific. From the short ribs, cod, mac & cheese, chicken entree etc. it was the perfect meal! I must say that the calamari was the best I have ever had!! Will be back next time in Newport.

Went for anniversary dinner... wait staff was great, the expereicne was great... the food was OKAY.. I had the 8 oz of tuna - HUGE portion for only 25 bucks, shared it with my boyfriend... 2 reasons hwy I docked them on a star 1. they use PEANUT OIL on everything, and Danny is HIGHLY allergic and I feel like that was poorly advertised... we would have never picked it if we had known.. in fact we almost left out of fear that he may have a reaction from something... 2. his steak was gross, super fatty and lacked flavor... see attached photos.

Cafe Zelda is on the tail end of the Thames street scene in Newport. Juuuuust out of visual site for those that tend to stick around the docks, but still surrounded by similar nightlife and restaurant options. We were hanging out unexpectedly in Newport on a Saturday night, and it was tough to find a place that had an opening. Cafe Zelda had one! Things I Liked: - Location was great! 15 minute walk or quick Uber ride from your hotel/beach/cah (What? We were in New England!) - Menu was solid, with plenty of modern plates involving fresh and appropriate ingredients for this type of place. I had a duck confit entree with beats, but more interesting was the duck sausage part of the dish. Very good! - Service was great! Attentive and professional, what you would expect from a pricey option. - Drinks were normal, nothing super creative but a fully capable bar resides on the other side of the dining room wall. Things I Didn't Like: - The place is a small row house, and it's halved. One side, classy dining, the other a singles bah (again, I'm in New England). The dining room is small and the booths are a little tricky of you get a corner spot. You won't be eye to eye with everyone in a party of three. This was "meh." The ambience also seemed dated and not in a flattering way. - Bathroom is a broom closet. Look, I know it doesn't really matter to most, but they could try harder to get a door that shuts. Overall, very enjoyable. Have a few drinks and it won't matter that you're squeezed into a corner or peeing on the broom closet floor. I recommend in a pinch!

Cafe Zelda has great customer service, a lovely atmosphere and average food. We had: Mussels Brittany - very tasty Beets & Goat Cheese salad - good Filet Mignon with Gorgonzola - the cheese totally overpowered the beef. I had to scrape the cheese off to get beef flavor. Short Ribs - tasty but a bit fatty Espresso Martini - very good Angel Hair pasta - good All in all we had a lovely dinner. The waitress was a doll and the hostess was great.

Brought a group of 16 here for a bachelorette party meal before going out. We told the restaurant that when we made the reservation and they said it would be no problem and we could be accommodated. We showed up and were seated right away (a note of caution; groups larger than 6 need to leave a credit card on file when making reservations and if you don't show up its $25 a head seems fair to me just an FYI) the waitress promptly took drink orders and was very friendly. We got our drinks quickly and asked for a minute before ordering. After about 5 minutes the manager came over and told us that we were being too loud. Yes we were a bachelorette party but we are 16 professional women and were no way impeded at this point. 16 people talking and laughing can be loud, no matter what the occasion. After this the wait staff seemed to be rushing us out the door, all the while noise from the attached bar was spilling in. If you're going to treat your guests like you're too good for them you should just refuse the reservation Food was good. The sourdough appetizer is really impressive and the roasted chicken with side Mac and cheese was just good. Not great. My only other comment is you have to go through the bar to get to the bathroom. A ton of locals were hanging around the bar and it's awkward when you go for nice diner. Not a bad experience but I expected more. Probably wot be back.

Food was on point. Garlic and Herb Chicken with their famous mac and cheese was a good serving size and very flavorful. The calamari had a Tai fusion taste to it and was very delicious.

A little hidden secret!! The quality of the food was very good. Great flavor. The short ribs were excellent. Portions are just right. They have Nice little bar area.

It's funny when you see nori-wrapped seared ahi tuna wrapped atop a seaweed salad on a "French-American" menu. And that sort of quizzical look that's on your face now as you read those words is exactly how I'd sum up my experience here at Cafe Zelda. The boo and I opted to spend our Sunday in Newport, inspired mostly by the fact that Newport Restaurant Week had just started. But we didn't actually order off the RW menu here, because we wanted more choices, yet I'm unsure if that was the right call. I wasn't impressed by either menu, to be honest, but the music they were playing (80s/90s/ukulele/everything light and easy and breezy and "cool") kept me glued to my seat. The decor was OK, if you like dark blue and white stripes all over the place, but it didn't scream "Viva La France" to me so much as it was like a sailor's attempt to be domestic. I have to report that my salami sandwich and clam chowder were decidedly non-French (though the chowder was pretty tasty). I forget what my better half ordered, but I think that's just indicative of how non-memorable the food was. Overall, I don't think I'd make the trek up to Newport just for this place, but the muzak was great.

We came here on a whim on a Saturday night. Got a late reservation that was available when they said. Even if We had to wait there is a great bar and friendly crowd. Dinner was worth the wait. I have found most meals in Newport to be adequate. This far exceeded my expectations. Clams were fresh and well presented. Grilled Caesar was perfectly prepared. I had one of the best boulabaise in the states. Just enough fennel and herbs. The fish was fresh. Grilled scallops were perfectly prepared. Mashed turnips were very tasty. Good wine list at fair prices. Desserts are sized for sharing. A great find. Already reserved my next meal.

Mixed feelings for this spot with one major qualm causing me to write my first review. Table of four for dinner on a holiday weekend we understand downtown Newport is going to be a madhouse, but for a designated upscale fine dining restaurant servers not knowing their (small) menu is absolutely ridiculous. -Artisan cheese platter to start - no idea what "three" cheeses came with. When we asked she said "I'll be back with the sheet" ten minutes later a different woman came back with a sheet that must of been pinned up in the kitchen. -They only have a few wines by the glass, she had no idea what they were, driest, best for pairing; ect. She had to go ask bartender and seemed irritated and frazzled when we asked her questions like this. The food was ok. Tuna and duck were good but the scallops were over buttered and bland. Seaweed salad that came with tuna was way too salty. Creme Brule was yummy. Bottom line, for the prices your paying service should be included.

My girlfriend and I went to cafe Zelda's on Wednesday evening for dinner. When you first walk in its nothing special with the blue and white pinstripe wall paper, but don't let that fool you, The service was fast and efficient. We both started with a glass of wine as we waited for our entrées. I ordered the crispy leg of duck confit and my lady had a seafood pasta of some sort. Everything on my plate was excellent except for the whole cloves of garlic but that's just me being anal lol. My girlfriend loved her dish as well. The next time I'm in Newport I will most definitely be back
