Food was good, but a waitress than was obviously upset was very loud about being a waitress and NOT a bus girl or a hostess. She was loud and very obnoxious and made the guests uncomfortable. Staff needs training and proper management. I would fire her on the spot.

Okay, so you've decided to go to IHOP. Nothing wrong with pancakes for breakfast (or any meal really). Some would say its a poor decision with all the other Newport-y options, but honestly, are you really saying you don't like their pancakes- it's IHOP, it's what they do. Now I'll agree there can be a line, but it moves rather quickly and call ahead seating is an option too. Best chance of a minimal wait is to either get there early in the morning or after the brunch-lunch rush. We've been lucky to get good service each time we've been.

Boyfriend and I had really great service when we stopped here late Friday evening a few weeks ago. I only wanted sausage and eggs and toast but since that wasn't an option, I ended up with pancakes and potatoes and bacon too. That's a lot of food but for $8.99! Bf ordered a burger, I believe. It was good too. I was impressed with the attention to detail our waiter had. He was timely in filling our glasses, bringing out food, and painstakingly cleaned the tables. It's nice to know the place is so well maintained.

California scramble was excellent with bacon, suggest ordering with the salsa on the side though.

So small, too dark, mediocre service. With few options for late night eats in this portion of Middletown, I found myself here at 1 am on a Saturday night. After a long theater performance and my belly a'grumblin'. . . a large plate of breakfast food became #1 priority. We were seated quickly, considering the hour, few people were actually there. Except for the corner of high school prom princesses and dates. . . the restaurant was relatively empty. Having walked through what seemed to be a portion of the kitchen we were seated, thankfully as far away as possible from the shrill laughter and camera flashes coming from the masquerade of young adults. Not much to say about the food. IHOP food is standard across most locations, with little variation. I understand that the hour was late, but did lighting have to match the time? I would have felt better about actually seeing the food I was eating. . . And I can understand the zombie staff lurking around in the wee hours. This IHOP is good for satiating that late night hunger, but don't expect any more than a quick way to fill your belly. Probably the quickest trip I've had to this chain.

It's IHOP, so you know what you are getting with the food. However, this IHOP is unique in that the staff are committed to their regulars. The service is mindful and the waitresses are professional. I really enjoy having a waffle and a cup of coffee with my family on a Saturday morning and this is a nice place to do so.

I hop you hop we all hop Damn I love IHOP. All I ever eat are the pancakes but boy are they good. I have been going to this place for years and every time we head into Newport we stop here first. I know this place, I have been here countless times. The pancakes are great, dripping with artery clogging fat and sugar. Sure I have had some blueberry pancakes in Maine that were better, but Maine is a long ways away. This is as good as it gets around here. The service is always good and the people that work here are genuinely nice. The only problem with this IHOP is that it is small! That means at certain times I have to wait and I don't like to wait. Plus the inside is cramped and crowded so it's hard to spread out and enjoy your gluttony. It's a IHOP and therefore it's great but I wish it was a little bit bigger. It is the very oldest IHOP in all of New England so you are enjoying your pancakes in a historical building. That makes it even cooler.

I came here for a late night dinner out of desperation. It was SO cold in the place that I was shivering almost violently. I ordered a hot chocolate for a beverage! A hot chocolate? In the middle of August? Insane. The food was okay. It was a bit greasy for my liking, but then again, what do you expect from IHOP. The service was okay as well. The server was friendly as could be, but we waited a bit for our bill. I most likely will not be back, but if you are desperate, go ahead. Food is food when it's past midnight.

After driving around trying to find some place open on thanksgiving day (traveling, not from the area), I saw IHOP parking lot full with cars. I was very happy until i went inside and the RUDE, OBNOXIOUS lady said we close at 2. it was 2:01 I understand wanting to get home but she added, unnecessarily, I might add "And 2 has come and gone, long gone" OK lady, get over yourself, a simple were are close would have done.

With so many great breakfast places around Newport, it's hard to justify going to a chain restaurant. It's not bad for an IHOP, but it's not any different than your average IHOP. The only thing unique about this dining experience is how long you'll wait in line on a busy weekend. Since all IHOP food is pretty much the same, the way they have the opportunity to set themselves apart is through their service. I haven't been very impressed by it really - one waiter made a big to-do about how he had been working for IHOP for 18 years, then forgot my toast and my girlfriend's bacon. Overall meh, I'd go if someone else were paying but if I'm choosing, there are a million other places around that I'd go to.

Honestly, its IHOP. They are open till midnight. When you get out of a late movie and want to grab some quick pancakes, there is nothing better.

I beg to differ, it is "bad for an IHOP" to say the least. We were seated, with our two younger children, next to the bathroom. Aside from being able to smell the bathroom, you could also hear the toilet flushing. We were at a table/booth and the two chairs were visible broken, which made seating very uncomfortable and uneven. We ordered the pancakes for one of our children, without chocolate chips and unfortunately we were ignored because she received them anyway. Thank God shes not allergic to chocolate! My hashbrowns smelled like a urinal and were barely cooked, with only slight browning on a couple pieces on top. I also got a side of bacon, which consisted of the most pathetic skinny strips ive ever seen. The coffee was like colored water! I cant believe we had to pay to eat this way! Would not go there again!
The food is great, but the dining area is a nightmare. You are basically sitting at everyone else's table. Super cramped and noisy. If you have small children, just hold them; the high chairs not only make things worse, but your child will constantly be hit and bumped. Food is good though.

I just ordered a turkey dinner to go. I picked it up within 15 mins of ordering it. The Dinner had turkey slices on a bed of stuffing, mashed potatoes & gravy, with a side of steamed broccoli. You get a choice of soup, reg or Caesar salad & Texas toast. It was hot & fresh. It was a good sized portion & the flavors were good. (The broccoli was steamed perfectly. The Caesar salad was NOT soaked in dressing). Overall I was happy with the meal

With a chain breakfast place like IHop you should know what you are getting. The service was super speedy (they want to get you in and out as fast as possible), the staff is ok, and the food is average on a good day. The only reason I ended up here was because I had to stop by somewhere in the area, the fiancé and I were starving, and he wanted quick breakfast food later in the day. That's one of the only reasons to stop here... I am sure there are many places that are much better. You will get your food incredibly quickly, but other than that everything else about IHOP is average.
