Fatulli's is doing a lot of things right: great new space overlooking Newport Vineyards, excellent soups and pretty good sandwiches. They just need to work on customer service, and namely, a more organized way to serve a busy lunch crowd. Clearly, the 'grab a number' strategy (like you're at a grocery store deli) isn't working--I saw people getting visibly frustrated, because the signage isn't clear. The service in general seems spotty, which is too bad because it's a great space and product. Hopefully with a more organized approach, this place will continue to improve and serve as a great go-to spot for locals and tourists alike.

A nice place to have lunch, but it can get old quickly. The lunch/dinner specials are good but nothing special. The prices are a bit on the high side for the amount of food served. Recommend trying their delicious chicken pot pie.

The gingersnap cookie alone was 4 stars. But I also bought a loaf of bread, some Mexican wedding cookies, and, well, water. Service was friendly and attentive. Ignore my review and just look at the pictures.

went yet again this year, and again was great. the salads were great, so was the quiches.

Went here many times while I lived in Newport, RI. Loved this cute little bakery (yummy fresh baked desserts) and always enjoyed the lunches too. Would have given it 5 stars if only they had a little bit more inside seating, but hey, I still liked this place a lot for a nice soup and salad/sandwich combo.

New diggs. I wasn't really impressed. I was ignored and then passed over by another customer it was really crazy. I didn't want to say anything since I wasn't in a hurry. But the way it set up now you really can't see what's in the case.. I like the old set up when you walked in and walked around everything I'll give it another shot at some point. I still love there bakery! You can form your own opinion on the new surroundings.

All I can say is you don't get a second chance to make a good first impression. Spent the day in Newport yesterday and had a great time. I have passed by this bakery a thousand times and never stopped. I have heard about it thru friends and social media sites. Yesterday we decided to exit the busy road to visit both the winery and this bakery. We walked into the bakery and no one said hello. Finally a woman came over and asked if we needed help but I got the sense that she would rather close up shop and go home. We got a few things and were not impressed. The $1.65 chocolate chip cookies were very bland and approaching the stale side. Needless to say there will not be another visit.

This place just droppped to the bottom of the list. While my lunch was good the big black hair sticking out of my oatmeal raisin cookie was completely disgusting. Not to mention all the flies buzzing around the pastries.

Holy Cannoli! Please teach your staff that knocking a tray of cannoli shells on the floor, from ON TOP OF THE GARBAGE CAN...looking around to see if anyone saw it, scooping them up on the parchment paper and setting them off to the side THEN looking around again to see if anyone was watching...fill said shells, is unacceptable. There is no 5 second rule in commercial kitchens. The lunch was good but I couldn't help but wonder if my food had been on the floor.

Such a cute cafe & bakery! Located on the property of Newport Vineyards, this little cafe is a fresh & delicious treasure. The salads are amazing. If you upgrade to a "Box Lunch" for $1.95 you can add a giant delicious cookie & a soft drink. Well worth it.

Since I work in the area, every once and a while my office decides to treat us to a nice company lunch and usually Fatulli's is the top choice. From sandwiches to soups and salads, this place always seems to provide us with some delicious food. What I really like about Fatulli's is that everything I've had from here has always been very fresh. Last time for lunch I had the veggie wrap box lunch. The wrap was a good size and was stuffed full of fresh veggies, plus it had this curried chutney mayo on it which was really tasty. Included with the box lunch was their homemade pasta salad (very simple but also very tasty) and an apple and bottled water. It was the perfect amount of food for lunch. The other thing that can't be missed here are their cookies. While I'm not very big into sweets, these things are huge and dangerously good. My two favorites have to be the coconut macaroon and the ginger snap. If you have a sweet tooth, you need to get your hands on one of these! The prices are reasonable and the food is fresh and just the right size portions . If you find yourself down in the Middletown area, Fatulli's is certainly worth stopping by and grabbing a bite to eat.

Disappointed with salads for my and my friend. The wait staff was slow and uninterested. Did not feel welcomed.

We had been visiting the winery shop next door when we walked outside & noticed this cute little shop next door. While we stopped in just to look, we left with dessert for that night & dinner for the next. While I waited for my friend to decide on what she wanted, I snacked on an absolutely delicious cookie. I don't remember what it was called, but I want to say it was like a soft ginger snap. My favorite was the coating of white chocolate on half of the cookie. Yum Yum!

It's a good thing this place has such phenomenal food, as their service is abysmal. Came in for lunch today and they were very understaffed. It took 30 minutes before I could even place my order. I ordered a Cobb Salad, and when the server gave it to me she showed me which register to go to to make sure I was checked out quickly. Just as I got to the front of the line, the cashier walked away to take another customer's order. It took another five minute wait before somebody came back to ring me up. I found myself a table, only to realize that they had forgotten the avocado on my cobb salad. I went to get the avocado, and in the meantime the busperson cleared my table so my silverware and napkins were gone when I got back. The last straw was when I took a sip of my drink and learned that it was iced tea instead of iced coffee. Had the service been good, this would easily have been a 5 star review. Unfortunately, I'm not sure I have the patience to give them a second chance anytime soon.

Ordered the Turkey Wrap-came with no ranch or bacon and maybe a dollop of guacamole. Very dissatisfied with my dry sandwich. Customer Service is lacking as well, very very unpleasant humans working there.

Super nice staff who is ready with recommendations. I had the cream of mushroom soup, which was delicious. I closed out the meal with a chocolate chip cookie cheese cake square....amazing. Very nice bakery/deli with a casual atmosphere.

Best lunch in a long time: roast beef sandwich with dijon and alfalfa, a bowl of pasta fagioli, and a bag of salt and vinegar chips. Boom!

Nothing but AMAZING I wasn't able to attend a bachelorette party and Fatulli's was seriously so amazing to work with. Great customer service, we talked about theme for the cupcake order and delivery. Amazing service! Highly recommended

Built me a beautiful cake for my wife's birthday with 24 hour notice. Great cake....great service

Very very tasty. It took me awhile to decide what I wanted to get but the staff was patient and when I finally ordered, accommodated my changes to the order. What I love about this place is the box lunch options. Usually you get a bag of chips and a soda as a combo and while you can get that here, I recommend the pasta salad side - a little sweet, but in a good way. I also went for the fruit because unlike most places where this consists of a choice of a banana or apple, here I could choose a pear or a plum as well. The sandwich was huge - when I go again, I'll split a sandwich so that I can also have room for the delicious looking desserts. A cute cafe vibe without all the pretentiousness or price of Newport

I've been to Fatulli's once, and really need to get back there soon. I went with my mom and sister after a morning of shopping in Newport. The line was long- out the door, but it moved quickly and efficiently. I ordered a veggie wrap, which was delicious, although a little small. My mom and sister also ordered wraps, I can't remember what though. They both liked their food too. The selection of pastries and dessert was amazing. We ordered 2 pieces to share and they were phenomenal. I need to stop in again soon if not for lunch, then definitely for some pastry to- go.

Went here yesterday with daughter and granddaughter. You order at the counter and take the food to your table. Tried the Thai chicken wrap, it was just the right lunch portion. The flavor was more like buffalo chicken, not Thai. My daughter was given a discount for wearing her Navy uniform.
(4)Sherry T.
5 stars based on the few things I ate from here. Only tried the soup and a cupcake---so for sandwiches and other things, take a look at the other reviews---they will be much more helpful. Anyway, came here on a coooold day and needed to kill some time before a winery tour next door. Ordered a lemon poppyseed cupcake and the curried chicken soup. The cupcake was good, not great. But the soup, oh the soup. Creamy, nicely flavored, thick but not goopy and perfect for a cold afternoon. It does seem like more of a take-out than an eat-in place---there are only a few tables. But that doesn't seem to hinder the business at all. We waited in a line to order and after we sat down with our food, there was still a steady stream of customers.

My favorite spot for soup! Everyday is usually something new, and they never disappoint. They have a thanksgiving sandwich that is out of this world. Oh and dare I mention the cookies?! Oatmeal butterscotch is heaven. I always make sure to stop by when I'm in town.

Go to Fatulli's, get the Chicken Thai Wrap and then thank me for recommending it. So darn good. Yummy spicy chicken with just a hint of crunch from the noodles. It's seriously crave worthy. While you're waiting for your food, try the free broken cookies on the counter. Then good luck not buying a cookie to go with your meal.

Great lunch spot. So great I went here two days in a row. My husband raved about this place since his co-workers order platters of Fatulli's wraps and sandwiches for the office. His advice went something like this, "Get the chicken Thai wrap, it's good!" I didn't follow his suggestion on the first visit because when I walked in I saw their (almost half empty) large pot of freshly made tomato florentine soup. Since I looked at their menu online before I arrived knew Fatulli's had a soup and half sandwich deal that included a drink. I had my heart set on that tomato soup so I ordered a half chicken sandwich and tomato soup combo (box lunch). When I got to the register I was surprised to find out a giant delicious cookie was included with my box lunch. What a wonderful surprise! Normally I'd turn down a cookie, however, Cookie Monster was my 3rd great grandfather and I have a hard time staying away from my heritage. It's an instinctual thing... me like cookie. I looked over their rather large selection of cookie flavors in anticipation of it's deliciousness. They have the norms like chocolate chip, butterscotch, peanut butter... but it was the gingersnap cookie half dipped in white icing that I ultimately decided on. My sandwich choice was the only item that didn't stand out as awesome. The chicken sandwich which was displayed as having chicken and pesto mayo seemed more plain than I expected. I think, from the description, I was expecting a stronger pesto flavor with the sandwich and it was more of a plain grilled chicken sandwich. Not bad, but not what I was expecting. Since I had such a great time on Tuesday I decided to return on Wednesday with a different friend. For that visit I ordered the Chicken Thai wrap that my husband suggested. I must agree with him that it is a delicious wrap, although I enjoyed the variety of the combo more than eating just the wrap by itself. In regards to the prices, I'd say the prices were pretty on par for a Rhode Island local business trying to support itself and make good food. There were 4-5 employees that I could see working during both days just in front, as well as anyone in the back, cleaning dishes and baking. Overall, I'm not surprised by their prices, as they're needed to support that amount of staff. Chain stores are cheaper but chain stores are chain stores. I'd rather eat local and pay a few extra bucks.

"The Ruben was half-assed and cold." The Spinach quiche was mislabeled and was the Spinach and Tomato quiche. The quiche was too cheesy, runny, wet and not fluffy. The double chocolate brownie was dry.

We tried the mushroom truffle soup at the winery next door during a tasting event. It was sooooo good. We purchased a quart to go. When we go back to Newport, we will definitely stop in to try more food.

Food: Hands down the best chicken noodle soup I ever had. Meaty juicy chicken and not that salty is all I ask for. The ham-n-cheese and spinach croissants were amazing. Finished off breakfast with a huge delicious éclair, loved the custard filling more than the outside. Drink: Deli stuff, soda, tea, coffee, water. Service: Friendly, brought us the éclair after we were done eating even though we ordered it all at the same time. That's using the brain wisely. Ambiance: Not much to write home about. Deli layout. Window counter seating is not that comfortable even though it offers the best lighting/view. Crowd: Whoa! Not much people eating in, but the locals sure seem to know about the place as they kept streaming in to pick up their orders. Very lucky we stumbled onto this place.

I like Fatullis because it's pretty constant in it's quality of food. Everything I've had there is good. Just had a Chicken Thai Wrap which was very good...it didn't exactly taste like Thai but none the less good. Its great because you can get a lunchbox deal for like $7 where you get a sandwich or wrap, pasta salad or potato chips, a drink and cookie. Its a great deal. They have great soup and quiche too. The cookies are huge! I usually get the frosted ginger snap cookie which is the best I've ever had. The Choc. chip, peanut butter and oatmeal are pretty good too. Its a great place to stop for a fresh homemade meal!

I was happy to find this place via my roommate. its really cute, and they have a TON of stuff going on. Cakes, cookies, a deli, a section of premade food, soups, etc. The staff was pretty friendly, and I was excited to see brie as a cheese option. Especially, on a baquette.... with salami. A part of me was trying to recreate my favorite sandwich from La Sandwicherie down in Miami Beach.. but this just didnt hit the mark. The bread was super soft, which normally I wouldnt mind. But when it comes to a baquette, I like some crustiness going on. And, I have to mention this... with no one else in the building, as far as customers go, BOTH of our sandwiches were missing ingredients that we had asked for. Ill probably try it again. But Ill make sure they a) write it down, or b) ill check it right away. Nothing sucks more than having to get up numerous times for things that should have been in your meal the 1st time. Im a sandwich snob. I know it. Dont judge. I will say this though. So far, its the best sandwich Ive had since ive been back (from a deli). Ill upgrade the review when I go back, if they get everything right.

Very tasty pastries! Highly recommended!

Great food, great personable service, great desserts. I had the Thanksgiving sandwich and a large butterscotch chip cookie and a Coke for lunch for slightly less than $10. Not too shabby for the price. Sandwich was a croissant with sliced turkey breast, stuffing, and cranberry sauce. Yum

We tried a cake and it was not so good. Actually of all the places I have tried cake this place was probably the worst. The cake was very very dry except for what seemed like an oil coating. The icing was heavy and something about it tasted weird, and it didnt taste like chocolate at all. Neither myself or my fiance wanted another slice of this cake after eating one slice. Price seemed a little steep, but not completely unreasonable, but for the price I would have expected a better cake. There is parking outside, but the place is pretty busy in the summer. There is a winery next door though in case you have a similar experience with their cake.

Sandwiches were ok, but WAY overpriced. Go to Braga's - better sandwiches, better soup, better value. (Also, the staff was arguing behind the counter the entire time I was there, mainly about who was making which sandwiches - a huge turn-off, we will not be going back.)
(2)Eugene L.
We had two bad experiences with Fatulli's. We were greeted with grouchy employees who did not seem happy to help us with our wedding cake. They were less than thrilled to find us inquiring about a wedding cake. We left both times unhappy and with no plan for our wedding cake. We ended up using another cake vendor because Fatulli's employees were unenthusiastic grumpy.

Excellent lunch spot. Great soups and breads. The ingredients seemed fresh and a homemade feel to all the foods. Bakery items looked great but we didn't have room!

I reserve this place for when I'm really hungry and feel like treating myself to some really good food. I come here for lunch since I work around the area. When you walk in it smells delicious- fresh baked breads, homemade soups...and the cookies=awesome. They have "lunchbox" specials which usually include a sandwich, a cookie, and a drink. But, you can also get a half of a sandwich, soup, a cookie and a drink - thats what I usually get. The soups are amazing. I dont think I've ever gotten a soup I didn't like from there. The sandwiches are really good too. I prefer the turkey wrap or the roast beef sandwich, but they are all tasty. And the cookies...they are about 4-5" in diameter and come in a variety of flavors. The coconut macaroon cookies are my favorite, but if there are none left, (remember freshly baked), oatmeal rasin is a good fall back. If you go for lunch go early, because the tables fill up quick.
(5)Jack C.
I do not like deserts for the most part. BUT... This place has the most amazing individual strawberry cheesecakes I've ever tasted. Their clam chowder was great! I loved that their roast beef was served rare, but hated that it was served on rye, it was a swirl so it wasn't too terrible. I was impressed by their take out containers, as odd as that may sound. I love delis and this place is great. It doesn't get five stars because it just doesn't.
(4)Jesse H.
Awesome lunch place. They deliver and are friendly. I'd recommend the box lunch where you get a sandwich with a choice of two of the following - pasta salad, piece of fruit, cookie, chips. Delicious food.
