My boyfriend and I stopped in for breakfast while on our roadtrip and were pleasantly surprised. The line was out the door (it was a Sunday) but we quickly learned that you seat yourself, so if you're ok with a counter seat, pop your head in to see if any stools are open since the people in front of you may be waiting for a table. The menu has standard breakfast combos, but also interesting specials. I had the Sweet French Toast with Yogurt and Fruit and my boyfriend had the Cheesesteak Omelet. Both were delicious in their own way. The yogurt wasn't too sweet and the fresh fruit was really refreshing. I would recommend this to anyone who wants a delicious, quick breakfast without having to pay the prices in Newport.

In touristy towns, it's so easy to find over-priced, mediocre food. Cause they simply don't care if you come back or not. I had plans to eat off Thames in Newport but the construction and parking situation, even in the off season, made this tricky. I also couldn't easily find a place that touted they had decent cocktails and martinis. So I head over to Middletown to scope out the area (I had eaten at ABC once before) and I pass Atlantic Grille and noticed the parking lot wasn't too bad at 6pm, so went in to check it out. I was so happy, because it was a menu that had a bit of everything for everyone, the prices were reasonable, it had a casual clean atmosphere inside, is family friendly, and had those fun fruity thirst quenching Margaritaville style rum drinks. We had lobster and steamers and chicken marsala, salads and mozzarella wedges. EVERYTHING was excellent. From the marinara to the delicately balanced marsala w/asparagus. It was great and I'd definitely go back. Service was quick and attentive and the atmosphere was pleasant.

Amazing breakfast joint - cool decor and great food. Went with a large group this past Saturday, while in town for a wedding in Newport. Ordered the Atlantic Benedict based on another Yelp reviewer. I'm a big fan of Eggs Benedict and this was quite possibly the best I've ever had. Eggs bennie over a grilled cornbread muffin, topped with bacon. Sweet, salty and savory...delicious. A couple others tried the chourico hash, which is their special twist on a corn beef hash - very good. I would fly back to Rhode Island just for the Atlantic Benedict. Good stuff.

Great place for breakfast, looking forward to my next trip back to Newport to try this place for lunch and dinner. Service was great, facilities were super clean, wait time was under 15 mins for a Saturday which is pretty good for any breakfast joint on a weekend. Our food came out in a timely manner. Waitress was quick on refills. Breakfast portions were huge. I had the Greek Omelet. Decent size portions of feta & spinach. Other family members had the usual, eggs, bacon/sausage, potatoes, toast w/ side of pancakes. I will have to say that they were pretty fluffy and thoroughly cooked! Usually when you get really fluffy pancakes there are still remnants of uncooked batter inside but not these. Very impressive especially since my 11 yr old considers herself a connoisseur of pancakes and told us that they were better than Daddy's (ouch)! ;o) Restaurant has their own parking lot (a big plus for Newport restaurants). Looking forward to a return visit..!!

Good food, terrible service. It's like we were being ignored the whole night! We had to ask for everything twice before it finally got to us, including our initial drinks. They got one of our orders wrong. Never came to check on us once! We had to literally stand up and wave someone down to get someone (ANYONE) to our table. Not to mention they were well staffed. I've never been serviced so rudely. And not an apology the whole time. My family and I couldn't believe how much we were being neglected in there. Atlantic Grille, your food was alright but food and service go hand in hand. We do NOT recommend this place and would absolutely NOT return.

Excellent food and the portions are huge. The peach bread pudding was particularly big and simply amazing. Service staff was very attentive and friendly and the prices are reasonable. We highly recommend this place.

--From Apr/May 2010, sorry for the delay-- Stashed at the Naval War College for 5 weeks, the Atlantic Grille became my Sunday morning habit. I found it here, and those yelpers were right. Its a beach hangout full of locals. The portions are HUGE...countin

I had lunch here based on the reviews below. It's great for breakfast and lunch. Friendly and laid back atmosphere. A local favorite. I had the Ruggles and my husband had the chicken salad BLT. Good, fresh sandwiches. I had breakfast here based on the lunch I had and a couple of lousy meals had elsewhere. I had the second beach, eggs sunny side up and husband had the farmers eggs benedict. Love the home fries. The people in the kitchen know their way around the grill. Coffe hot and bottomless.

Just not good, The menu is that of a Fast food type seafood. Doubt very seriously that the fish was fresh after being told that it was. The appetizers was over-priced and really greasy. The shrimp entree as just tasteless and Very disappointing! The decor is very "warfside" but florescent lighting is cold as ice. Truthfully would never go back again.

My fiancé and I ate breakfast here and it was delicious. The wait for a table was short and the service was excellent. I would definitely eat here again.

We went here for dinner and all had amazing food and service. I will definitely come back next time I am in Newport. The prices are very reasonable and it wasn't very crowded with tourists. I definitely recommend the boiled lobster and the seafood scampi!

Fruit was nice and fresh. The special, New England Benny, was... Interesting... Cornbread as the base of a Benny changed the taste considerably, but not in a bad way, just in a weird way. Waffle and eggs were good. Homefries were excellently seasoned and perfectly cooked. Just wish that it had a better view of the water.

My boyfriend and I ordered dinner to go one night and the girl who took our order on the phone seemed competent and friendly. She didn't know what was in one dish, but she found someone immediately to explain it and didn't mind when we called back to edit our order a minute later. We got the Jack Daniel Salmon and the Lobster Ravioli. The salmon came with two sides, a choice of potato any way and seasonal vegetables. The ravioli came with buttered garlic bread. Both entrees tasted good and had excellent portion sizes, but nothing to rave about. The one complaint I do have is that when we got back to our hotel with the food and opened it up, the top container was broken from the bottom and bits of plastic were littered in the food. The sauce was also covering the outside of both containers. I don't know how this went unnoticed when they were putting the food in the containers.

Great food here, grabbed dinner and the seafood was on point. Would have given it 5 stars but they had no music on and the atmosphere was boring. Heard its amazing for breakfast if you can even get in.

Had the South Beach breakfast and absolutely loved it. The fruit wasn't only as fresh as it gets but it was room temperature. How awesome is that? Nothing worse than taking a bite of a fruit salad and that it's so cold your teeth almost fall out of your head. Prices were very reasonable and the service was polite. Can't wait to make it out to Atlantic Grille again.

On vacation in Newport and we usually stop and have breakfast at another place near our hotel. However, mom had heard Atlantic Grille had amazing oatmeal (yes, oatmeal) so we decided to give this a shot. Please don't think this place is just a diner or something. Although the prices are amazing (yes, in comparison to NY). So of course she got the oatmeal and yeah it was really good - with extra milk on the side and fruit on the top. I don't usually eat breakfast but I ordered 2 different things, a short stack of banana pancakes and a chourico and cheese omelette. I think these might have been the best pancakes I've ever had. The pieces of banana were perfectly caramelized, a little bit of butter and I didn't even need syrup and in a moment of weakness I ate the whole thing when i intended to only eat half. Now on to the omelette - one of the most amazing things I've ever eaten. It was so fluffy, the chourico was awesome, the hash browns on the side even had a little spice to them but they were so full of flavor. I was so sad as soon as I started eating it because I realized I couldn't get breakfast like this anywhere else. Different things were ordered all around the table, plates were cleaned - chourico hash and eggs (over medium and cooked perfectly), chicken fajita omelette, blueberry pancakes, a chourico hashlette (use your imagination). Everyone was so happy and so stuffed. This is a definite go-to in Newport. I would even venture to say I'd drive from an hour away just to eat here.

Hands down, the BEST breakfast on a weekend. Their selection of "bennies" is superior to anyone else. Dinner is always a treat with specials and bar food. The staff is fabulous and makes it another one of those places that you always feels so welcome when you walk in the door!

By far and away my favorite breakfast place of all time. Before they did renovations the place was small and cramped and sometimes you had to wait awhile for a table and you were so close to everyone else but the food made it worth it. Now since the renovations the place is huge. There are so many tables and enough space to maneuver around and I haven't had to wait yet. I love the food this is why i come here (go figure). When I go I will have either 3 scrambled eggs, homefries, and white toast, of the southwestern breakfast burrito without ham. The coffee is decent and so are the prices. Most of the staff has been there for years so they know what they are doing for the most part, sometimes they are slow but having been in the food service industry for so long I look past that. This place is great though and a must have for any breakfast enthusiast.

I'd rate Atlantic Grille 2-3 stars. I've only had one meal there and I may give it another shot just because of all the great reviews. We went there for breakfast and I had the Philly Steak Omelet. My omelet was sitting on top of a huge puddle of oil or grease. I was so hungry, so i ate it anyway, but I was pretty grossed out about all the oil/grease that was on my plate. I eat a lot of omelets at restaurants and I've never experienced that. The potatoes that were served with the breakfasts were really good though. So maybe part of the problem was just the type of omelet I ordered, hence why I said I'll probably give it another chance.

SO DELICIOUS. seriously, the best restaurant breakfast i've ever had. i had a cheddar/onion/green pepper omelet, which came with home fries and toast. the omelet was absolutely massive, perfectly cooked, and the veggies were an extremeeely generous portion. they were also really fresh-tasting, and cooked so that they still had some of their natural crunch, which i love. the home fries were seriously the best i've ever had. the best. not greasy, and they were completely recognizable as potatoes. (confession: they tasted even better when eaten with the onions/peppers that were spilling out of the omelet.) the toast was toast, and mostly got neglected so i could finish my omelet and homefries. our waitress was sweet, the food came out quickly, so overall good service. if you're visiting newport, this may seem a bit out of the way- it's past easton's beach, as opposed to being downtown somewhere off of thames street. this is generally a good thing, since most tourists don't venture here (shhh don't tell them!).

Solid fish and chips. Didn't much care for the cole slaw. Wife's order was put in wrong. When it did come, her scallop roll was very good. Scallops done accurately, juicy. Service was friendly but not particularly attentive (or accurate).

Atlantic Grille is located near Easton's First Beach on the cusp of Middletown and Newport. It is a more quieter location than the other Newport Area Breakfast places such as better parking (their own lot) and not too long of a wait to get a table or a seat at the bar. With multiple types of Bennies (Eggs Benedict) and Beach Deals (1 egg, or 2 egg with your standard accompaniments), you won't have a hard time finding something. Service can be spotty but these servers are dealing with 7-8 tables that are very hungover and/or hungry! I give them credit! It's a laxed not too rushed environment with adirondack style seating and beachy themes. My Faves: Irish Benny (Corned Beef Hash Eggs Benedict) Any type of Omelets (Heart-lodging goodness!)

Initial thought - this place is sooo super clean, you can't help but notice.. That a big plus! Service was very good! This is a great spot for breakfast, came here 2 days in a row we liked it so much the first time! Tried French Toast, Omelet, Corned Beef Hash, etc., etc. and I would say nothing raked as the "best I ever had" but everything was still way above average and very good! I would be here all the time for breakfast if I lived here! Great pit stop to start your day!

No doubt the best breakfast spot in New Port. If you're in the area, you must check this place out...just like you must check out the mansions or the cliff walk... It's so good, my friends and I went there 2 days back to back for breakfast this past July 4th weekend. I got the AG (Atlantic Grille Omelette...by far best omellete i've tried... They have a terrific Breakfast and Lunch menu to choose from. Prices are very reasonable...very friendly staff. The place is small and it can get packed quick, be there early or wait a few, its first come, first serve basis...it is worth it!!!

We love this place, we had lived in Newport since 2003 and we would go there almost every weekend for breakfast. The signature dish you can only get on the weekends (Sat and Sun) is the egg benedict. Jason had tons of benedict throughout the east coast, no one can ever master the hollandaise Atlantic grill does. I also love their Atlantic beach chicken wrap, the best chicken wrap I have ever had. The omelette are very good as well, and decently priced. I also love their fruit covered waffles. They have a healthy fruit bowl with yogurt and granola, also refreshing. You have to go there before 11 on the summer, otherwise, the wait is always very long! Definitely recommend trying out the place for breakfast.

I've been going to Atlantic Grille for, I believe, the better part of a decade. The place is awesome. After a rough day of lying on the beach, surfing or squid-fishing at night, there's nothing like heading over to Atlantic Grille the next day. The staff is homely and accommodating, but the food steals the show. The Second Beach ($8.95) is perfect: Two eggs, two pancakes, sausage, eggs, home fries and toast. Really, could you ask for more in a breakfast? The pancakes...the perfect fluffiness. Not too soggy or undercooked, but not rough either. The muffins (sold at the counter) are great too, I always try to pick one up for the flight back home. The place can get pretty packed on weekend mornings, but it's well worth the wait. These days, there's also a huge selection of salads and wraps for those not interested in heart attacks.

I've lived on the island for a few years now. The breakfast here is pretty good. I'd stick to ordering off of the specials board. Don't get me wrong ... the menu is packed with some great choices, but I've found that the specials tend to be a bit better than the menu choices. The portions are heaping ... lots of taste in the food as well. There are a few places on the island that make a better breakfast, but the location of Atlantic Grille makes it a closer choice for the tourists. I am looking forward to seeing the remodel completed though!

Yum!!!! Spent the weekend in Newport RI and came along this nice beachy joint for for breakfast. Nice decor and great food. Had a chourizo, cheddar and bacon omelette that was yummy and my boyfriend had a Farmer's omelette that was delicious also. The pancakes were nice and fluffy. The staff could have been more helpful with seating and coming to the table a bit quicker but all in all the food was great!!!!

Great place to stop for breakfast or lunch. They're fixing up the outside of the building now and it looks great. Parking is easy, staff is attentive, the place is quite clean, and prices are reasonable. What's not to like?

A huge thank you to the staff of Atlantic Grille for making the morning after the Newport St. Patrick's Day Parade not just bearable, but quite delicious and refreshing. Even though we had a group of five, we were seated quickly at the bar with the obligatory recovery dose of vitamin C soon in hand. I had the egg and cheese sandwich with sausage and homefries, which was perfect for someone with a small appetite and a thin wallet. I enjoyed the atmosphere, which had the neighborhood Cheers vibe with the welcome addition of friendliness to outsiders, and would recommend this for locals and travelers alike.

outstanding brunch and lunch at 2PM on a rainy July Saturday. Terrific service by a friendly waitress, and an abundance of quality omelettes, French toasts, pancakes and salad that left us more than satisfied. The seafood prices are slightly lower than Anthony Sea Food up the street, so we'll have to go back and try the seafood - once we digest this yummy meal, i.e. in 100 years!

Pretty good food, really quick service. The home fries are good except a weird spice they put on them. The texas french toast was really good!

Another great find. The storefront is somewhat unassuming, but the food inside is the real deal. We came here because of the reviews we read on Yelp, and we'd have to agree that the food is darn tasty. My wife ordered the special California omelet, which turned out to be huge, and its combo of random vegetables and meats actually went together really well. I'm a corned beef hash fiend, but I had to try their chourico hash, which was spicy, potato-y, and just greasy enough to satisfy my craving. We added a side of pumpkin pie pancakes, because we lose all ability to refuse anything when we see the word "pumpkin." There were some kind of sugar/butter crumbles on top that we couldn't get enough of, and the spiced whipped cream was a great accompaniment. A little too sweet to make a meal, but it was a good counterpoint to some of the heavier fare we had. The coffee? Pretty terrible. If I wasn't jonesing for some caffeine, I probably wouldn't have finished the cup. We were in Newport for three breakfasts, and we debated between Atlantic Grille for the food or Ocean Coffee Roasters for their coffee. A brunch is not a good brunch without a good cup o' joe, so we opted for OCR the second time around. But the food here was definitely worth a visit. If they added some good coffee, I'd be back in a heartbeat.

Awesome breakfast spot. It's tiny and fills up fast on Saturday and Sunday morning, but the staff is super friendly and very skilled in moving customers in. I LOVE that they grill the huge muffins right on the flat top. It sort of caramelizes the muffin...so delicious. I just had the raspberry pancakes, which is a great twist on one of my breakfast faves. The banana pancakes are awesome too. Their home fries are delicious. Crispy and flavorful on the outside, but tender inside. Huge portions, reasonable prices. Probably the best breakfast in Newport.

Just steps from First Beach, near the junction of Memorial Blvd. and Aquidneck Ave., you'll find one of the most unassuming breakfast/lunch restaurants on-island. Atlantic Grille serves simple, well-prepared, familiar fare. Breakfast items include eggs, omelets, eggs benedict (weekends and holidays), french toast, and pancakes. For me, the litmus test of a true breakfast joint is eggs benedict, and the Atlantic Grille does not disappoint. If it's not a weekend or a holiday, I usually opt for the egg, cheese, and chourico on an English muffin...one of my all-time favorite breakfast sandwiches! If I'm really hungry, I'll complete my meal with a side of corned beef hash. The omelets are delicious, and with more than a dozen different variations to choose from, there's sure to be something for every palate. The service is friendly and fast, and the prices are reasonable for this area. With plenty of parking, Atlantic Grille gets a solid four star rating from me!

3.7789 Stars The AG has become an Aquidneck Island institution, originally it was cash only, yet lines were long then and still are especially on the weekends. They have nice U shaped bar to the left side, that has a fair amount of seating away from the bar. To the right is a dining room with a small foyer with the hostess station. The booths can fit six adults comfortably. Breakfast: They have 16 Omelet choices as well as build your own. I like the Greek Omelet and the Atlantic Grille Omelet (chourico, bacon, onion & cheddar). There is a Eggs Benedict (Bennies) menu with 7 varieties, weekends only. The Beaches menu has eggs in your favorite style paired with thoughtful sides, the usual suspects with flair (french toast, Belgian waffles, pancakes, fruit, yogurt, granola, breakfast meats) . In a hurry get a breakfast sandwich. I like the AG Breakfast Sandwich scrambled egg, bacon, chourico & onion with cheddar on an english muffin. (by now you see the chourico pattern) Of course you can order a la carte as well. The coffee is very good. Lunch/Dinner: They have an array of salads, burgers, wraps and sanwiches. There are specials and enough seafood choices for the weary beach bum. A standout for me in the Portuguese Kale Soup. I also admit to eating one or four of the "Stuffies" Quahog stuffed with ritz crackers and chourico. The Lobster roll weighs in at $16. * parking: there is a lot it fills up not too many places to stash the car. * chourcico hash, Belgian waffles, Irish Benny (beef hash). * on your own or a couple? hit the bar if you can find a spot. * prices are Newport rates but the quality is there. * try that Kale soup.

Our waitress made many mistakes. She didn't put in our app... after waiting for a half hour we asked her and she told us she forgot. One of our beers was flat. Wrong type of french fries were sent out and charged extra for on the bill. Basically a disaster, which when we saw we got charged extra and asked to speak with the manager she rolled her eyes and was unapologetic. I have never felt so compelled to write a review, it's actually my first yelp review. So many good places to eat in Newport, do not settle for awful service and even worse management and food. Go to Salvation café, Red Parrot or Speakeasy depending on what you are in the mood for.

We have lived in Newport for six months and eat here at least twice a month, often bringing out-of-town guests with promises of the best breakfast in the area. We were VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH THE SERVICE when we stopped in this past Sunday and will not return. We expected to wait, but were pleasantly surprised that it wasn't too long. After about 15 minutes, the host pointed out our table and said there were only three chairs and so he would be right over with the fourth chair. There were two other emptly tables at this time, with about seven total chairs at them. We walked over to the table and waited for the fourth chair. He began seating the next group at the other two tables and it looked like they were going to use all the chairs so I walked over and reminded him we needed another chair. He repeated that he would bring one right over, and sat the next group. As this was happening, someone walked over from another table and took one of the chairs as we were still waiting for our fourth chair. The host walked by again and we asked him where our chair was and he proceeded to walk around the restaurant and returned to tell us that there were no more chairs. I was shocked and asked why they sat the table after us before ensuring we had enough seats. He said it wasn't his fault and walked away. He then offered one of our party - four adults - a highchair to sit in. ???!!!??? Then he brought over a bar stool; the seat of which was higher than the table. I again asked why they would "seat" us without enough seats and then seat another table. The only response I got was that it wasn't their fault. I was still in shock and then the host, a young teenager, came over and raised his voice and said "What do you want me to do? Go get some wood and MAKE you a chair?!" I was in complete shock. I was already embarrassed that this may become a scene and had been very careful not to raise my voice, but one of our party even gasped when he came and said this to me, and in such a rude tone. That was the end for me and I turned and walked out of the restaurant. As this was happening an adult employee came over and, said it wasn't their fault, echoing the rude tone the young man had used. My husband tried to explain to her that it wasn't just the fact that we were missing a chair, it was the way we were treated. Not once did anyone who worked there apologize or just say "Hey, we are sorry this happened and if you can wait for another party to leave we will get you a chair." I can't argue with an apology. I would have waited and been happy to be able to share a good meal with our friends who were visiting. We were never presented with an option, unless sitting in a highchair is a valid option for a 175 pound adult male. I was so disappointed and still am. We love the food, and up until this time were pleased with the service. We also enjoy patronizing local businesses, but were so upset we were not sure we would return. Just one employee being polite to us would have remedied the entire situation, which is unfortunate. When the rude woman, who told us she was one of the managers, was overheard by one of our party telling the young host that everything he said was fine, we realized the service wasn't just an issue of one employee, but was supported by the management, which made the decision to not return a final one. We were happy to go to another local breakfast spot and had a wonderful meal there, along with exceptional service.

I was heading to Anthony's but it closed at 8:30 pm on a Sunday so I decided to try Atlantic Grille. This place is definitely a casual, easy going local's restaurant. Very Family friendly. Service was lickety split fast. Got my beer in nano seconds. Wait staff is super nice, very efficient & accommodating. I ordered a bowl of clam chowder bc I was famished. It was NOT broth based. It is the thicker based chowdah. An earlier review had said it was not thick & to die for. I thought it was good but not earth shatteringly amazing. I then opted for the baked sea scallops with mash & veggie medley. It was very good. The veggies were sautéed simply in evoo & herbs, & the red potato mash was simply prepared with a bit if cream, butter & salt. This place has solidly good food in a very casual Family friendly environment : ) I am definitely looking forward to coming here for breakfast as the reviews and pics are stellar...

Great place for breakfast near first (Easton's) beach! I've eaten breakfast here several times and have never had anything that I didn't love. They have several egg Benedict's and specials. From almond sweet bread to California omelets really great choices. This place can get busy especially on the summer, so expect a short wait. I've had lunch here a couple times, which is also good. I'm a big fan of their kale and chorizo soup. I have not been here at night but they have a full bar and a trivia night as well. The best part is it is a short walk from the beach. Location, location, location!

Well, the best place we have been to for brunch in a long time! Nice venue, super nice waitress, the benedicts are amazing and portions are very generous. I recommend the bennies and beaches formula. Beaches have salty sweet included, and the drink. We will come back and take pics this time! Bonus, they got stickers and tatoos for the kids!

What can I say about the Atlantic grille here in newport. The best breakfast here on the other side of the bay, with 1st and 2nd beach just a walk away. I have never had a bad experience here with breakfast or lunch. The one thing that makes it a 5 star is they grill the muffins. On Sunday better get here before the church crowd and hungover drunks it gets busy

I asked several people for their best breakfast spot around Newport and a couple mentioned this place. I'm glad they did because it's delicious. It was pretty crowded so I ate at the bar. The food was excellent and I'm including a picture. My only gripe is that the service was somewhat slow. I'm sure due to how busy they were. If you're in Newport or the surrounding area, give this place a shot. Go early though...beat the crowd.

DELICIOUS breakfast spot near First Beach and down the road from the Cliff Walk. Reasonable prices, great selection and fresh food! I got the Gooseberry Beach (two eggs, toast, home fries, yogurt/fruit/granola) which was fantastic and my boyfriend got the breakfast burrito and raved about it. Friendly staff, fresh food and a prime location. If you're looking for a nice breakfast, look no further! FYI the lunch menu also looked decent and reasonably priced.

We were headed to Anthonys but the line was out the door, Kept going and saw this place, pretty full parking lot and decided to stop! What a great find! Janice wanted swordfish and got her wish, excellent piece of fish with sides! I was looking for a Haddock and Scallops plate which they didn't have together, Opted for the Beer Batter Fish and Chips, got a nice piece of Haddock ,fries & Cole Slaw that did Not disappoint! Great Server, Great Experience, Great Find!

Even better then what I built it up to be in my mind. Year after year I would drive by Atlantic Grille and wanted to get breakfast there. I finally did and it was awesome. One random Sunday morning I woke up early and NEEDED eggs benedict. I remembered seeing a few variations of eggs benedict on their website and was too eager to drive a half hour away to finally give it a try. I regret nothing except that I waited as long as I did to try it. My boyfriend stuck with what he knew and got a huge breakfast burrito with home fries. the home fries where cooked perfectly for me, some were crunchy some were soft but all the potato pieces were seasoned great. I had to have the Bellevue Benny, everything about it was screaming my name. It had well cooked juicy steak under poached eggs covered with bearnaise sauce instead of hollandaise sauce topped off with mushroom and onions on an english muffin. my mouth is watering all over again thinking about it. Every staff member we encountered were very friendly and service was very fast considering we went during the Sunday morning breakfast rush. I can not wait to go back again.

We had brunch yesterday and lunch today, and I have to say, the portions are big! Brunch of two eggs with meat, homefries and toast for $7.00 was terrific! Everything was great! Had lunch today-lobster roll for me and fish and chips for hubby; the only thing that wasn't so great were the fries, but the cole slaw made up for that! Next trip will try dinner.

Drove by looking for a good place to eat and saw the wait. Figured with that many people flocking to this spot, it's probably pretty good. Put our name down for the 35 minute wait. I was a bit irked when I saw multiple open tables yet nobody being seated. In fact, the very table we were eventually seated at was vacant for at least 10 minutes while I stood waiting. Food was decent. I got a Cajun burger that was pretty dry, but the fries were great. My table thought their food was better than average. Ranged from lobster omelette, to egg sandwich. They also have a full bar, so in attempts to cure my hangover, I ordered a Bloody Mary which was surprisingly enjoyable. Ambience was interesting. It felt a bit "chain restaurant" like, very generic. But at least it was very clean!

Tried this place out on a recommendation, and it was spot on, the lobster roll was fantastic! The place is definitely a casual place with a local feel. I say that the bar and it seemed to be a favorite of the locals. The food came out quickly and was very good. The Bartender Mical was superb, and always had a great smile on her face. Thanks Mical.

Great local haunt for any meal, though brunch is the big draw. We had a dinner and a brunch while staying a mile away in Middletown. You can't go wrong ordering anything with scallops for dinner. The chowdah is very good too. For brunch, we had the Lobster Benedict (how could you not), which filled me for half a day with all its blue-collar decadence. The service is very friendly and brisk. The wait for breakfast is not so bad (we were told 45 minutes but the actual wait time was under 20). The angled parking lot has limited spots (be careful pulling out onto the busy road), but spaces were open or freeing up both times we came so there's plenty of turnover. All in all, a very good local seafood grill.

Great place with a full service bar. The clam chowder is to die for. It isn't cream based which is hard to do. The menu is good for the family or foodies that are looking for fresh seafood. This place seems to be packed all the time. Friendly service too.

Good food at a reasonable price. The place is clean and welcoming with a nice menu offering something for everyone. We were in Newport on vacation for a few days and had one breakfast, one lunch and one dinner there. All quite good. Very pleasant staff.

Peaks at breakfast. Every item on the breakfast menu is absolutely delicious. However, the restaurant does not transition as well over to lunch & dinner. I would recommend for the best breakfast/brunch place in Newport RI (besides a few high end places like Castle Hill) but definitely not as much of a lunch/dinner place.

You can tell this is the spot to go for breakfast when the wait is 40 minutes in the off season! The menu has all the classic breakfast items you could want plus an extended special menu that changes daily. This past time we had the lobster benny which was great along with the pancakes... Which are as good as they come. I noticed a few large parties being served, if you are looking for a breakfast spot that can accommodate large groups... This place can handle it! They serve cocktails too :)

This was THE go to place in 2007. Most recent visits resulted in that sad underwhelmed feeling. Slow, nonchalant service - food to match. I received my sandwich with items I requested to be removed. Um, are you alergic to xxxx? No, but I don't like xxx, which is the main reason I ordered this item WITHOUT xxxx. I'm a huge fan of the sister restaurant in Portsmouth: Fieldstones.

Definitely a nice place to get breakfast. Clean restaurant, good service. I had the florentine omelette, lots of filling. Certainly adequate for a big eater. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a great way to start the day. Waitress stopped by to check on us and fill our coffee cups. They were pretty busy for a Monday morning, but the service was spot on.

Ordered: cordon bleu sandwich made to order (thin fried chicken patties, ham, swiss, ranch on grilled sourdough). French fries. Coleslaw. $8.99. Cup of coffee. $2.00 Ambiance: there was a long line for this place, but when we got inside there were empty tables. Most people looked hungover. Campy/kitschy crap on the walls. Full bar. A couple TVs around the bar with sports on. No music in the background. Loud kids screaming. Food: decent, but nowhere near excellent. My sandwich was fine. The fried chicken patties didn't have much chicken. The coleslaw tasted like it was probably scooped out of a 128 ounce bucket. It wouldn't surprise me if the fries were frozen and came out of a bag. Coffee was watery and bland. Blah. Whatever. Cost: Not unreasonable. $10-12 per person. Tip: I'd avoid this place unless you were hungover and starving for breakfast/brunch food. Summary: Not horrible but not a WOW-level restaurant by any stretch. Whatever-diner food for not-unreasonable prices. I'd skip this place if I could do it over again.

Best restaurant in middletown if you have children. They are very accommodating and excelent service. The fish tacos and lobster bisc are excellent. A must for breakfast as well they have you in and out in no time.

There are several places on Broadway that have great breakfasts. I think people go to the Atlantic Grill because there are few other places to get breakfast in this area of the island. The breakfast is adequate. If I am going to wait for 30 minutes to get a table, then the food had better be good. Normally I am so hungry by that point that the pancakes could be made of sea weed and I would gobble them up. They have young servers, and some of them have been fantastic. When the restaurant is packed on a weekend morning, the service is slow and scattered. You will have to flag down your server for a drink refill, condiments, etc. If you ask for something, it is not unusual to have to get your servers attention again. I advise people NOT to go here for lunch or dinner. Steer clear!

I've visited twice. The first time I ordered from the lunch menu and was really disappointed. It was a lot of food but just didn't live up to what I was wanting. My husband ordered breakfast and I was immediately jealous. It was delicious. The second time, I did not make the same mistake. The Belgian waffle was crispy and delightful. The corn beef hash made my mouth water. Is it time for breakfast yet?

Such a great spot! We are regulars for breakfast here. We usually sit at the bar to eat and the bartenders are so good! Food is always fresh and very good. The decor is nautical and clean. The low chairs in the dining room look like Adirondack chairs, so cool! Great service, awesome food and just a friendly local spot.

Great, albeit slightly pricey breakfast but considering you're just a block away from Newports first beach the price can be overlooked. On to the food, in a word, Outstanding. I got a special Benedict that I forget the name but it was a grilled corn muffin with corned beef hash and hollandaise. It was perfectly grilled and the hash was tasty!! The home fries were amazing though, probably the best I've ever had. Soft potatoes grilled just enough for a tiny bit of crunch and just the right amount of spice! I'd go back just for the home fries but luckily there's a ton of great breakfast offerings I'd like to try. Staff was friendly and attentive, highly recommended place for you to try!! Only advice is get there early because they get pretty busy.

This place feels more like a chain seafood place. The food was just alright, not exceptionally good. For a place that has the word "grille" in its name, I am surprised how little grilled their food was. My husband and I have soft spots for scallops. There were 3 or 4 scallops dishes. But all of them were baked, with creme or butter. What about grilled or pan seared? I ordered yellow fin tuna. The dish came with a side of asparagus. It would've been really nice if it were grilled asparagus instead of boiled or steamed.

Did not have to wait for a seat @ 9:45 on a Saturday morning. Hostess, servers and busser were very friendly. Food was pretty good and was out quick. Even though our server was friendly and helpful she was not very attentive. When I got my coffee I did not get a spoon. I tried to flag her and another server down but was in able to get their attention. Finally I got the busser and got a spoon. Then a little while later I tried to get someone's attention for a refill of coffe same thing. Time for the check same thing. If I would go back I would have given 3 stars but I will not be going back.

Stopped here for breakfast. "Ok." Ordered the Philly Cheesesteak Omelette & Banana Pancakes. Banana pancakes were good but the omelette had no seasoning. Cool decor and various seating options. Coffee was watered down.

My wife and I had a truly forgettable breakfast here this morning. The service was just ok and disorganized and slow. Actually, there seemed to be too many waitresses and most of them were focused on playing with an off duty waitress and her three children. The pancakes were huge and about three quarters of an inch thick which is not a good thing. Coffee was meh! Prices are too high for the quality and service. We will not be back. This place used to be great but since their renovation and expansion it has gone steadily down hill.

This place was amazing! I went to visit Newport to take care of some business and we stopped by The Atlantic Grille for dinner and after hearing rave reviews from my party.. I was looking forward to it a lot. I was not disappointed. The service was AMAZING and the food was equally as pleasant. The waitress that served us was a doll, she treated us so nicely and always checked up on us. For an appetizer, we ordered the chicken wings (sweet and sour) and it was amazing. They gave us a generous serving of this sweet sauce too and yum yum yum I want some more as I'm typing this out and remembering the taste. I ordered their Turkey Club with Sweet Potato Fries and Cold Slaw. It was fantastic! The sandwich was perfect in every way and the fries were to die for. The only gripe I have about the dish was the Cole Slaw which was overly sweet and soggy. The service was amazing. As I stated earlier, the server was a dream... she was the epitome of what a server should be. Checked up on us constantly even though the place was jammed packed and always had a smile on her face. Then the table next to us was being cleaned after a party left and the busboy was just as pleasant! He just asked us (as he was cleaning the tables) if we were having a good dinner and I was in shock! This place is the best place to go have dinner in Newport and the prices were reasonable too. This will be my go to spot whenever I'm in Newport.

Came in here on a Sunday morning around 9, had to wait about 20 minutes for a table, but the hostess was friendly and sat us as soon as she could. The waitress wasn't overly friendly, but she was quick & efficient. I ordered the "surfers end" which was a belgian waffle, scrambled eggs, hash browns and bacon. The hubby ordered a stack of pancakes and bacon. We also had two "large" apple juices for drinks, which were enormous. We loved that, since usually we have to get several refills with those small glasses at breakfast places. The waffle was good, the eggs and hash browns were delicious too. My husbands pancakes were just okay... I tried them and my first thought was that they were "too spongey" which made them kind of gross (minus 1 star).. otherwise we had a pleasant experience and will return next time we are in Newport!

The service was really good here. My banana pancakes were great! The fruit bowls we ordered were very fresh and large. My husband ordered the farmers omelet and enjoyed it. We will definitely come again!

This is hands down the best breakfast around. You cannot beat it. Every time I am up in Newport I make it a point to get AG at least once while I'm up here. There are so many great prions on the menu from the western breakfast wrap to the massive and delicious southwest breakfast burrito to the second beach (2 eggs, sausage, toast and delicious pancakes). You can't go wrong. Also, they make the best home fries I have ever had. 5 out of 5 stars for sure.

    (5)
  • Kim B.

For Breakfast: Let's make this short and sweet, just like the AG. 1. The food is the best, there is no other answer. Everything is cooked to perfection. 2. The drinks are the best, I mean helloooo, full bar! 3. The prices are expensive.. but you are basically on a beach, and it is delicious. You are paying for the experience. 4. The service is going to be slow. Look back to the short and sweet. The restaurant is small (although they did expand a few years back), but I have never come and NOT had to wait. If it is a large group, it will be hours. But it's okay, it's worth it. I have also experienced bad service here before, but I was in a group of 12. And we were painfully hungover and annoying. That being said, I won't factor that into my rating. 5. The decor is amazing, it is so beachy that it makes you feel like you are on the beach (as in, the chairs are made to look like adirondeck chairs) and the colors are very vibrant and lively. It screams "vacation". I do need to try this for dinner, and I don't doubt it is amazing. For breakfast, it meets all criteria that one wants on an early, hungover, morning.

Good place to go during off hours. When it is busy, it takes a really long time to get food and orders can get messed up. The best value is brunch, dinner is a little pricey.

This place can be very busy, but we have never waited too long. I can only review the breakfast, as we have had it several times. My husband loves the omelettes, I don't like eggs, so I can't say. The one thing that has always been great, grilled blueberry muffin! Yes grilled, so yummy. This is not 5 star restaurant, but a yummy Sunday morning family breakfast spot!

We brought friends here for breakfast, hoping for eggs benedict which we have had in the past. Unfortunately, they only serve on weekends. Anyway, 3 of us had an omelet, one had a breakfast sandwich. The omelets were amazing, huge and full of fresh ingredients. The homefries were delicious. Even a side of blueberry pancakes were great. My only comment is that the english muffin my sandwich was on was steamed or soggy, not grilled or toasted. A little disappointing. But all in all, they are always great and the service is great too.

Come here every year (Multi times in 2 weeks) when vacationing. Never had anything i don't like. French onion soup, best I've ever had, literally. Scallop, bacon, jack cheeses n jack Daniels glaze pizza...divine! Had 3 times in 2 weeks. Boiled lobster dinner great, only $14. Would like corn with it though. Breakfast delicious. All prices reasonable, portions generous, staff always nice. Must come here every annual vacation.

Man, these guys really know how to fry a potato! We were in town for my BF's friend's wedding, and stopped here the morning after (very appropriately hungover) for some serious eats. Saturday morning, no wait (WOOT), and fantastic sea-themed decor to boot. It was quite festive and made me yearn deeply for summer. Not sure if that's a good or bad thing. My hangover required something from the lunch menu, although I liked the vast selection of "bennys" (despite hating the nickname "eggs benny") and creative omelet choices. I chose the Sid Fishous wrap and had no regrets. I loved the crunchy cole slaw and grilled fish pieces; it felt hearty but not overtly greasy or loaded with mayo. The best part may have been the french fries - WOW - I thought I had only seen these in my dreams. Medium-cut, lightly seasoned, crispy exterior. In rare form, I kept this discovery to myself so as to not have to share a single fry with anyone. Everyone else was preoccupied with the home fries (also amazing, CRISPYYY YES) but I think I won big time with the classic french fries.

I used to come here as a teenager for their omelettes and back then (in the 90's) the atmosphere wasn't anything special but the omelettes were fantastic. I can't remember when they renovated this place but by golly is it nice inside. I had the shrimp and scallops fajitas which was a little strange and I wouldn't get them again (putting sour cream on scallops didn't sit well with me), but the shrimp and scallops were cooked perfectly and the fixings' were very fresh. For dessert I had the bread pudding (man do I love bread pudding) and it was a huge soft warm piece of deliciousness. I'll definitely come here again, I'm just sorry it took so long for me to make a triumphant return!

I'm giving this place 2 stars because the service was slow and the drinks. Took forever for the waitress to come give us menus and then come take our order .I got a strawberry margarita and my friend got a Mai tai I didn't like mine was way to sweet and my not sure with the other drink , the waitress asked if I wanted something else but didn't come back until we were done with our meals ,foods good and the service and drinks are awful !!!!

Visited yesterday morning, had a delicious breakfast! I ordered the Surf Beach, the breakfast plates are HUGE, talking 2 plates!! My only complaint is I ordered a Bloody Mary, the Bloody Mary was delicious however I will ask them to make it spicier or add my own Tabasco! Short wait time & plenty of seating compared to other breakfast joints on island.

Worst diner breakfast I had so far. Came in for the eggs Benedict, to learn they only do it on the weekend. My mug had lipstick on it (I don't ware lipstick) and eggs came out cold, really.... If that's not enough, there was no jam with breakfast, which is pretty standard, but we assumed that's how it is here. Then the waitress brought jelly when we were basically done with breakfast. And there was no real milk for the coffee. All and all, very disappointing for a place that was recommended by yelp. I guess they just don't bother of season.

While the food is good. The service is terrible. I went on a Sat morning and it was a little busy at the tables but since the bar was open I seated myself and waited for the server/bartender. About 5 minutes later the bartender brought a menu and placemat. It wasn't as though she was busy, there were only 3-4 other people at the counter and she was there drying and putting away glasses. It is customary to acknowledge a customer even if you can't help them right away. I waited tables for years. Eventually I got my food and it was fine. I should have known better than to come back a second time, but thought the next time might be better. The next day I went back and waited so long at the counter without so much as an acknowledgement that I left without being served. The waitress was at the counter chatting with some customers who were on their way out, content discussion included how drunk she was going to get today. It was all very unprofessional and I will surely never eat here again. T

After the day at second beach, sunning and surfing, and nary a snack save a few peanuts, the family (all nine of us) was famished! We needed a place with gluten free (for the parents), beers (for the adult children) and kid friendly (for the little ones). We found the total package in Atlantic Grille. Not many people have written dinner reviews for this place, but we found it nicely delightful. We started with the Philadelphia nachos - a huge plate smothered in cheese, steak, peppers and mushrooms. A bit of a risky choice unless you're into a sandwich on your corn chips, but the family devoured them. I ordered the Portuguese kale soup, which was bland but did inspire me to "make it right" at home. For entrees it was a mix between the lobster roll and broiled fish. The lobster roll was ample and with out mayo *thank you* - and for $15 came with either slaw and fries, which were yummy OR caesar salad which was also delicious. The fish eaters were equally happy with their non gluten options and after a 22 oz of cold brew, we stumbled out of there and into a 'long' car ride home. Sheesh! I've already become a Rhode Islander when a 45 minute trek is no longer a zip out to the grocery store, but a day trip home! The only thing that would have made the experience better would have been to be able to dine al fresco. They don't offer outdoor seating. Aye me - can't have everything.

The Atlantic Grille is one of the best breakfast places on Aquidneck Island. Tons of seating, very friendly servers and delicious food at a reasonable price. One drawback is the parking situation. Their lot fills up really quickly and there isn't any street parking in that area. Worth circling around the parking lot a few times though.

Came on a Thursday night around 9 for dinner with group of 6. There was no where else open so we kind of stumbled on it because of that. I have to say, food was solid.service was great. And it didn't hurt that they had the Thursday night football, giants game on, on every tv. Everything was good

Service was horrible. Had to ask for napkins, refill drinks, extra plates (when already asked at first) and waited a half hour before taking our order (and we had to get the hostess to get our server because she was MIA). The caesar salad wrap was disgusting, there was more wrap then there was salad. The nachos we got were burnt and tasted horrible. We weren't sure if there was meat in it or if it was just black beans but the whole thing was very questionable. Very disappointed. And I know we came at around 8:30 and waiters don't like to be say late but it took the host 5 minutes before seating us because we watched the poor girl get rejected by every server who said "I'm not taking the table, I don't want to stay here all night." And then when we were finally sat I saw the hostess and the server pointing (RUDE!) at us and whispering about god knows what. I felt like no one wanted us there... I should have seen the signs before hand and turned around and left right after we got sat!

Great brunch place. The setting is pretty nice and the place definitely kids friendly. Lots of options around eggs. Prices are very reasonable and food is very tasty. Their salads are great. Portions are really big. Nice staff. Not unusual to have some wait so be prepared but it's worth it.

Really tasty food and decently priced for the area. Grilled chicken Caesar uses a vinaigrette base rather than egg/oil and chicken wasn't dry. West coast nachos were tasty, crab balanced with gorgonzola, however would ask for a slightly nicer presentation than mashed crab and cheese guacamole. Only big complaint would be the waitress. She brought the rating down heavily by being super spacey and took prompting to get a refill on water that came out warm and no ice. She was close by, though, sitting with her friends who had apparently already clocked out and still in uniform at the bar. From the other side of the seating area, I could just barely make out the specials for the day - we never heard anything about them. I only saw them after glancing at the lobster buoys looking for a new glass of water. Overall, food is very tasty, I've had great homefries here and good food. it's too bad that the service made it lousy this time. I'll probably be going again, but not for the service.

  • Betsy J.

Decent food. I am a breakfast burrito junkie and the one here was quite bland - no spice whatsoever. Lobster eggs Bennie was good - lots of fresh lobster. Good homefries. Rave reviews from my table mates on the tuna melt and fish and chips. Not so rave reviews for the fries, waffle and eggs - not bad, but nothing special. I may give another star if they didn't reserve 6 empty tables in the bar area "in case a table of 10 comes in" while groups of people waited for a table in the rain.

This place was packed by the time we pulled up and the wait was close to half an hour. Not bad for me, not good for my friends who were starving. The decor is bright and kitschy with lots of surf and beach memorabilia hung up on the walls. Families are the de facto customers so expect lots of strollers, high chairs and the sound of children screaming and laughing. I had the Turkey Club and a cup of Portuguese Kale Soup to start. The soup was overcooked (veggies all mushy) and a tad too salty--not really worth $3.50. Also, it wasn't the least but spicy and I always understood PKS to be spicy. The sandwich was huge and I could only eat about half of it because they just stuffed it with turkey. The fries were great. My friends got a veggie-cheese omelet and the Surf's End respectively, and both loved theirs dishes. I will agree with one that the home fries were excellent and possibly the best I've ever had. Docked stars for service--neither the hostess nor the waitress were particularly friendly or accommodating. And because the food, while decent, wasn't any better than other American brunch I've had.

I like the food, I like the prices.....the service was concerning. We waited 30 minutes after the lunch rush for an omelette and 2 sandwiches. The three year old in our party ordered a meal from the kids menu This meal came 15 minutes after the other food arrived...fresh off the fryer and scorching hot. Our server didn't seem to notice my dissatisfaction as she sat with a table of friends and ate her lunch prior to our departure. She did say thank you in between bites as we walked past her table to leave.

I've been hearing about this place for months now and was finally in the area to give it a shot. When I arrived I was a little disapointed the place was not on the water front, for some reason I had assumed it was, but I had a great experience. The place was very clean and spacious, I didn't feel like everyone was on top of each other. The place is very nice and the beach chair like benches are a nice touch. I order the chicken fajita omelet and it was perfect. The homefries were some of the best I ever had, gold & crispy. The service was great, the waitress kept a close eye on anyone who needed a water or coffee re fill. The friends could not stop talking about the bloody marys and how perfectly they were made, nice and spicy. Job well done Atlantic Grille.

Friends and I were in town for a wedding and headed to the Atlantic Grille - suggested by friends who live in Middletown. We got there around 12pm on a Saturday and they were packed! The wait wasn't too bad, but we did have to split out party of 8 into two booths, which we worked with. Breakfast was the choice for most of the party - portions were huge! and also decently priced. I got the steak and cheese (the wedding was the night before.. enough said) and my boyfriend got the cajun chicken sandwich. The chicken piece was massive and had to be cut in half so it could fit properly on the bun. Despite this, the sandwiches and french fries were good and we felt satisfied. Service and atmosphere were great. We'd go again!

Had Sunday brunch here last week . We rarely go out for breakfast but this was so great I had to write it up. My eggs were perfectly poached and the pumpkin pancakes were absolutely to die for! My daughter had a terrific fesh fruit salad and strawberry cream cheese stuffed toast which she loved. My husband raved about the Atlantic omelette.Bonus was that they had several Sunday papers to read if you want to.Friendly prompt service too.

YES. YES YES YES YES YES. YES. I must write my appreciation for this place in poetry form. Atlantic Grille, I love you so! Big, greasy portions, Crisp bacon, french toast. Pumpkin cheesecake muffin? Just get in my mouth! That's... what she said? Whatever, I have no capacity to be creative this morning. The moral of the story is if you drive past this place in search of a better breakfast after reading these reviews, I'll come and Tony Danza slap you.

I have only dined here for breakfast. The food is amazing. They offer a lot of different Benedicts and Omelettes. The food is very fresh and tastey. They also offer a great cup of coffee. I definitely recommend trying this place! Oh, one other thing the restaurant seems very clean inside and the restrooms are always tidy. I have dined here approximately 6 times and always left satisfied.

Very good food, excellent manager - she was very knowledgeable about food allergies. Portions are good. Fish and chips was huge portion- see photos. Food was fresh and yummy. Server was ok, a little forgetful- college student type of server.

We've eaten here many times...every time has been great. They have the islands best fish tacos. My son swears by the chowder. My other son loves the pizza. Breakfast too is great! We always leave here with leftovers.

This is an awesome brunch place!!! We were in town for a wedding and found this gem on Yelp. The 15-20 minute wait was worth it. The food and service were amazing. We ordered a number of different entrees and every single one of them were awesome. We had the peanut butter & banana stuffed French toast, the farmer's omelet, the yogurt & fruit topped French toast. Fresh juice and coffee hit the spot. Great, clean, fun decor makes for a fun atmosphere. Good for kids, families and groups. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in Newport! I highly recommend it.

One of the best brekkie spots in Newport. Food is consistently on point and they have a HUGE menu for breakfast to satisfy any morning-after craving you may have. From overstuffed omelets to french toast to eggs benedict and even combos for when you can't decide, you can't go wrong going here for breakfast. Only drawback? The wait, which although worth it, can get kinda crazy in the summer being across from the beach and all. Go in the winter when it's slightly less crowded and you can stuff yourself silly and not have to go strip down to your swimsuit right afterwards :)

First time here, went there for a late breakfast today. Arrived around noon and waited about half an hour for a table. After we were seated, the food was pretty good. Nice portion size and great tasting food. Only complaint would be the efficiency of the staff. While waiting there were tables that were vacated for 15-20 minutes before someone went over and cleaned and set them so others could eat. Also noticed some tables were cleaned off and setup with silverware for about 10-15 minutes before people were sat there. I would go there again and recommend it to others but the service could be more efficient, especially when people are waiting in line to be seated.

First time visiting went for lunch with locals who loved it. Waitress was very unfriendly, kinda straight to the point. Found a hair in my fries but wasnt going to mention it just said no when she asked about boxing the playe because i didnt eat much. When she saw the hair she changed completely and took care of it takin it off my bill instantly and apologizing a lot.

Can't say enough good things about this place . The breakfast is excellent and the prices are about right. We have two small children and the staff is great with them. If you go on a weekend plan to wait if you get there after 9am because the place gets very busy.

Good atmosphere, fresh boiled lobster for only 14$, clam chowder creamy, and too salty; calamari w pineapple was good. Salad was average. Good portions for everything. Food comes out fast.

This has always been our go-to breakfast spot, but the last couple of times the service has been really bad. Last time, we were out of coffee a minute or two after our food was brought and couldn't get her attention until we finally flagged her down for the check, so we had to eat breakfast dry. Don't know if we will be back. :(

Awesome friendly service! My water glass was never empty. Went here for lunch a couple days ago with my mom. We had the calamari for our appetizer. It was so good! Perfect texture, not too chewy. The fried pineapple and sweet and sour sauce with it made it different from most calamaris, but it was really yummy. I would definitely recommend it. We both had the lobster roll for our lunch, which came with french fries and cole slaw. The lobster roll was good...nothing special, but not bad. The fries were warm and crispy, and I didn't try the cole slaw. The price is on the lower end of average for Newport...it came to a little over $40 for coffee, two lobster rolls, and the calamari. This was only my second time there since they've renovated, and the changes are really nice! The atmosphere is very beachy Newport. It's a good place for a casual lunch or dinner and the service is great!

Go now and order the Atlantic Benedict! Okay, it's only available on weekends so you'll have to wait. But eggs benedict with bacon on a grilled corn muffin...drool! The corn muffin was moist with a slight sweetness. And the side of home fries were crispy and flavorful. Now if only the coffee wasn't so weak, otherwise it would've been perfection!

Cute place! So close to where I live and on the way to where I student teach. Awesome! Breakfast: open at 6am every day!!!! OK prices, great portions, yummy hashbrowns. I love when they're seasoned and crispy. They need to work on the coffee...it was too weak! Take-out/dinner: Steak salad is sooo good. SO is the bacon/scallop pizza! Whoever thought of that should get a high five. I'm sure I'll be back here once or 20 times. I'll give an update on the coffee next time I'm there for breakfast. It could have just been one bad batch.

My favorite local breakfast joint on Aquidneck Island. Not spectacular food, but decent coffee and good, wholesome breakfasts in large portions. My favorites are the veggie omelet and any of the benedicts (only served on weekends). Also, I highly recommend the homemade corn muffins. Ask for it grilled; they will cut in in half and throw it on the skillet for a few seconds. Slather some butter on that steaming hot bad boy...absolutely delicious! Now that they've remodeled, the long waiting times have been drastically reduced. Still, you might want to get there as early as possible, especially on weekends.

Friends have raved about this place. I found it to be OK. We waited about 5 minutes, sat down and were a waiter came over promptly. The service was good. I guess I might not have order the right thing, just went with a basic meal. The Second Beach I believe. I asked to sub something out and they did it no prob. The atmosphere was great and clean. I think I need to go back for another try.

My husband and I have gone for both breakfast and lunch and have not been disappointed. It is casual dinning and with great service and a decently sized menu for both breakfast and lunch you can't go wrong if you are looking for something quick and easy. Try the bennys- they are delicious!

All I can say is nasty. I had the shrimp skewers and they were pretty gross. I've eaten navy food so I can tolerate poor food but the shrimp literally induced a gag reflex. Stay away.

Wow. This was awful for us. I had to send my steak back three times. Asked for well done and it was med rare the first time. Still red each time they brought it back two mins each time. Ended up asking for it to go because my husband was done eating. His food was bad as well. First and last time here. We saw our waitress twice in 45 mins. My baked potato was good. Still waiting to get our check so we can leave. So frustrating. :(

I'm going to have to search hard for anything bad to say about this experience. We noticed that our normal breakfast stop said "Best Breakfast of 1999", as evaluated by Newport Life Magazine. So what about the years since then? Well...Atlantic Grille has won Best Breakfast for SIX YEARS RUNNING. That's pretty impressive. Perfectly-cooked eggs, insanely fluffy eggs, an omelet that had SO MUCH BACON in it that two of us could almost not even finish the bacon. And - IT'S BACON - you don't leave bacon. Come on. Anyway the food was pretty outstanding, we did have to wait about five minutes for a table since it was crowded, but no big deal. I don't think we saw anyone working there that was old enough to buy cigarettes, it's a totally young crowd of waitstaff and cooks. Because of that, the service isn't as great as it could be, but we were never left wanting. The price was reasonable, the food great, the service better than average. Parking was a little challenging because they were so busy, but wasn't a problem. Overall, you will be hard-pressed to find a better breakfast on the Island.

One thing- I'm so sad that you changed your bright, islandy feel for a dark, country, sports bar feel. It was one of my favorite aspects and it just feels gloomy now.
