I figure that since we eat here at least every 10 days or so (sometimes more), and have tried most everything on the menu, I should probably stop slacking off and write a review already. I love everything about this place. The staff is always friendly, the portions and prices are reasonable, and the food is always fresh. There are some menu favorites (actually, a lot of menu favorites): For noodle dishes, the Drunken Noodles and Singapore Noodles. For curry, the Panang curry. For stir fry, Ka Pow Kai (minced chicken and green beans) and the baby corn with ginger. For soup, the Malay Noodle soup. For appetizers, the Chicken Satay or the fresh mango rolls. Seriously though, I have yet to have a bad dish. They also can adjust how spicy your dish is...one to four peppers. Just be forewarned: I love very spicy food, but sometimes 4 peppers is too hot even for me. Start with two or three, and go from there. It's also BYOB

A great addition to the Kingston Emporium. I had been hesitant to try for quite some time, but was prompted by co-workers who love it. I decided to order the chicken pad thai, something a little on the simple end. Upon entering, i was a little nervous. The place was very chaotic and people were bumping into each other left and right. I do believe they need a little more space in there. however, with a crowd like that - you have to know the food is good! For the price, your portion is plentiful, I had lunch for the next day. The food was hot and fresh and quite delicious I must say. I was pleasantly surprised and everyone in our group was happy. I look forward to my next venture to Simply Thai - I hope to check out some other items from the menu.

Fantastic Thai food for the area. This is the go-to place for curries. I like Sa-Tang for wok noodle dishes, but I think Simply Thai makes really rich curries with better ingredients and a better curry flavor. The service is quick, I like the low key setting, and the prices are very, very right.

Easily the best place to eat on the Kingston campus. It is located in the corner of the Emporium near CVS and can be easily missed if you're not familiar with the campus. The food is always fresh and tastes great. The staff is very nice and will help you if you're not sure what some dishes are. They also have a menu that has pictures of almost everything on the menu too. My personal favorite dish is their massaman curry. It is such a perfect blend of spicy and savory. Its a yellow style curry which generally are a bit more mild, but this one has just the right amount of kick to it. I was blown away the first time I tried it. I can easily say its the best curry I've tasted. Their panang curry and pineapple curry are also great. Their pad thai is also very good. Has the classic sweet and peanutty taste to it. Its big though so be prepared to take leftovers. The drunken noodles are good too, nice and spicy like they should be. But they tend to be a bit on the greasier side so if you're on a diet stay away from this dish. Whats nice about this place is that they also serve other types of food, not just thai. For example they have pho which is a Vietnamese dish. Usually I dont trust places that arent Vietnamese cuisine to make a good pho but it was actually quite good. However make sure to ask them for Hoisin sauce and Sriracha sauce because they arent at the tables and a pho just isn't pho if it doesnt have hoisin or sriracha sauce in it. They have a good variety of appetizers and desserts too, but honestly a entree will more than fill you up. Just a few other things to note, to order you have to go to their cashier and order but they'll bring it to you. There isn't any set tableware, but there is a small table next to the cash register that has all the tableware you need and glasses of water. Then when you're done with your food, just take it over to where the trash is and put it in the bin (same system as a place like Panera essentially). This place is great and I'm really glad they came to the URI campus. Its a great place to get a well cooked meal that tastes awesome in between classes. I'll update my review once I've tried more of their meals, its just so hard when their curry is just so good!

After spending a few years in Thailand working, I've been trying to find a local Thai restaurant that has the food I fell in love with over there. The restaurant is cafeteria style, order and sit down. I had the Ka Pow Gai, which was just like you would find in Thailand, I loved it, nice and spicy with great flavor. Also tried the Pad Thai which again was just like you would find in Thailand. The food here is the real deal, simple, great flavor and can't wait to go again and try some of their other dishes.

Simply Thai is simply alright. Granted, it's probably the best Thai food available to the students at URI, but it's pretty passable. When I went, I ordered take out for pork pad thai and pork pad kee mao aka drunken noodles. Both these dishes turned out pretty well, the had flavor and were nice portions. But they didn't really stand out to me among the various Thai I've had before. It's a cute little campus restaurant though. Obviously family owned and I really admire that. So if you're craving Thai, this is a fine place to go. If you're looking for more than craving though? You might have to look farther and somewhere else.

Had the green curry chicken, which was delicious. Was prepared in good time. Been looking for a good Thai restaurant in southern RI; imagine finding it tucked into a corner of the URI campus.

The best curry noodle I have ever had outside of singapore!! Pad Thai is good too, a bit too sweet though.

Just went there for the first time yesterday and was not disappointed. I got the hot basil rice with chicken. It had just the right amount of spice and made me look forward to my leftovers. Super easy establishment where you order at the counter then have a seat and they bring it to you. I will definitely go back soon to try a different dish.

This is my favorite place to get Thai food. Don't let the atmosphere or location fool you. The panang curry and chicken pad Thai are excellent. They have the perfect balance of flavor (spicy, sweet, sour, salty) that you look for in good Thai food. The prices are reasonable and the staff is pretty friendly. I am a student at URI as well as a local resident. This is my usual takeout choice if I have a late class on campus.

When I first started working at URI, I loved this place. It is one of the better on campus options for a healthy lunch or dinner. That being said, the service is horrible. The owner acts like it's a chore to be there and refuses to change anything in the order, even when she's the one who gets it wrong. I will come here for the food, but have definitely lowered my expectations in how they treat people.

Reasonably priced and delicious--I am a fan. Some might say I'm in a Thai food rut because I always get tofu Pad Thai, I would prefer to say that I just know what I like, and what I like is simply Thai. A friend of mine has been raving about this place since it opened, so I made her take me there when I was down south for a visit. I ordered Pad Thai and miso soup, and ate all of it. I wanted to stop, but I could not. We did takeout, which was speedy, and the person who rung us up was more than happy to split the order (I never carry cash, I know). The interior of the restaurant was spotless and really cute. They have lots of booths, but also a bunch of cafe tables. I picture students camped out here pretty regularly, but thankfully, they were not there when we picked up our takeout. The food was fresh and delicious, the service was excellent--what more does one need? I will certainly be back, and I will now have to struggle between deciding on my usual, or trying something new and delicious. Decisions, decisions.

I could smell the restaurant before I could find it... This small Thai restaurant is located right next to the college campus and the food was absolutely delicious. Their were 3 people in my party and we ordered a total of four dishes that were shared. Needless to say there were no leftovers to be taken with us. The flavors were what you'd come to expect from traditional Thai food. The Panang curry had just the right flavor on your tongue as to remind you of how much different it is from other Asian foods. I can see the restaurant is probably very busy at lunch time and during peak hours but if you're here other than at those times you're served quickly, like we were. Food like this is meant to be shared so don't be afraid to order outside your comfort zone and dish from the middle of the table.

This entire restaurant is simply amazing. The food is always fresh and delicious. The owners are great. I've called two times for take out (forgetting their hours) after they've closed the grill and they still took my order anyways, even opened up the door when I arrived. They remember regulars and serve consistently great Thai food. A+

I got sick after eating here. I had shrimp pad Thai. I ordered a 4 spicy and could not eat the food....and I like spicy. I went down to a 3 spicy.

Service here is great. Food is amazing, fresh and pretty cheap. You can always find a seat in the restaurant and the food comes out quickly. My favorite dish is the Pho, which is usually hard to find at most Asian restaurants. Crab Rangoon is also very delicious. The cream cheese isn't over powering, and it's not too thick or fried either. The (assumed) owner who always works now knows my boyfriend and I here as regulars. Simply Thai is far superior to Peking Tokyo.

As a URI Student, Simply Thai is probably one of my most visited restaurant in the Emporium, 80% of the time, me and my friends will head here instead of the other restaurants. Food here is really delicious, and price is reasonable (as around $10-15 can get you full). It's not fast food, but usually it takes about 10 minutes for food to be served and with a 4 star quality services. HOWEVER, size does vary (and it cannot be assumed) as my favorite dish here is Beef Druken Noodle and PHO Noodle Soup. Variety of food are at two extremes, there's really oily and greasy Drunken Noodle, but there's also very healthy Spring Rolls (not the Chinese one). So overall I'll give it a 4 star rating...

Simply Thai really got the recipe right. In a shopping centre where stores struggle to stay open through the summer since all of the URI students are gone, Simply Thai is still packed with customers every day. I love their pineapple curry with chicken. They do great fresh spring rolls. Their organic salad with peanut dressing is so yummy. Another favourite is the coconut soup. If you are going to go for takeout during lunch time, especially when URI is in session, place your order ahead of time ( hungryrhody.com )! I've waited for over 25 minutes just to place an order, and an additional 30+ minutes for that order to come up, on numerous occasions. It's a little annoying but at the same time, I'm glad this place is doing so well.

Love love love it. As for the Southern Rhode Island Thai experience, I think this place is "da bomb". Great noodles, as good Thai as I've had anywhere (now I've not been to Thailand itself...but LA, NY etc). Very pleased to find take-out so good in South RI.

If you are in the URI area at lunch time, stop by Simply Thai. I love the fresh spring rolls and the miso soup. The food has great flavors and the meals are reasonably priced.

This place just opened on the URI campus, replacing the lacklustre Papa's Bistro, and it's a HUGE improvement. As soon as they opened, the smell alone was interesting - fresh, meaty, chili-y, lemongrassy wafting out the doors. When I finally persuaded people to go with me, the smell delivered on everything it promised. The menu is very large, including a number of items I wouldn't expect at a Thai place, like pho. The food showed up quickly, which was appreciated and amazing - they were busy. (The only complaint I have came here - they deliver to table by recipe numbers, and everything we ordered took a lap around the room, despite us sitting right at the counter exit, waving.) The drunken noodles I got were EXCELLENT, with big chunks of juicy beef, sautéed green beans, sniglets of egg, and richly savoury noodles. The fresh basil and sharp chilies were fragrant and a perfect balance. My friends got pad thai and a bowl of pho, respectively - the pad thai was every bit as good as the drunken noodles. The prices were very reasonable, too, which is something of a marvel on campus, especially for food this good.

Overpriced and mediocre as far as Thai food goes. Their pho soup is notably less than mediocre. Their drunken noodle dish is also poorly made. Some of their other dishes are alright, and that actually makes them the best restaurant on the Kingston campus amazingly (the burrito place is alright too) because everywhere else is terrible. I want to give them 2.5/5.

While not my favorite Thai place in town, Simply Thai never really lets me down! The take out is always quick, but I occasionally have problems with them answering their phone. This is more of a college hangout restaurant, not really a "date night" place. I really enjoy their Tum Yum soup - just spicy enough, and includes ~3 shrimp. Prices are reasonable and the portion sizes are generous for the price.

After a couple of late hours of sun in the sand by the water, my friend and I were starving and looking for a spot to grab a bite. She had told me about Simply Thai a week or two earlier and it sounded good to me, so off we went to campus. It's cafeteria style - order at the counter and they will bring it over to the table. The girl at the counter was very friendly and willing to answer questions with a smile, despite the obvious language barrier challenges. I had the chicken satay and the ka pow kai entree. The satay was moist and tender and spiced perfectly. The peanut sauce was thick and delicious. The menu said the dish came with the usual sweet cucumber dipping sauce as well - but that was absent and upon my asking the girl at the counter just acted a bit confused. That part was a bit of a disappointment but no real points off, as overall - it was a great rendition of chicken satay. My go to Thai meal is pad prik king - which was absent from the menu by that name, but the ka pow kai sounded very similar so I ordered that with beef. I'm not overly familiar with Thailand's regions and differences in cuisine, but this dish is pad prik king with the ingredients cut differently. The entree was a heaping dish with a nice generous portion for the price. The meat was minced and the green beans were sliced into tiny pieces - which was the only real difference between pad prik king and this dish. The sauce had a very nice punch to it and all in all it was a fantastic representation of the flavors I was hoping for. Simply Thai is another local restaurant that could hold it's own in Thai Town Los Angeles. It nice to have the option close to home here in the biggest little state, and while it doesn't make me miss LA any less - it is nice to be able to grab some tasty Thai food without the drive to the city.

This place has gone downhill, and gotten worse every time I've been here. Today was the worst: my Pad See Yew was burnt, and it seemed they dumped a whole ton of sugar into my ice coffee. There was only ten people in the restaurant, but the owner still acts hectic and chides the servers while making customers wait in line. What's going on here?

Fantasitc Thai food and very reasonable priced. The restaurant is clean, the food is fresh and authentic and the menu is varied. Staff is always friendly and helpful. They do tend to make their food a bit on the spicy side (if you are sensitive to hot and spicy) so make sure to order to your tastes. We eat here frequently and it is consistently delicious!

We order takeout from here and it's great. Pad Thai & Drunken Noodles are our faves. My only complaint is when I call them to order I sometimes get the fax machine and that "hungry Rhody" message that plays each time is really annoying. The last time we ordered I was told it would be ready in 20 min., but it took more like 45 min. They may need to get their management act together a bit.

I was pleasantly surprised by the high quality of the food coming out of Simply Thai. The South County area, in my opinion, is devoid of good Asian food (or any food for that matter). I had low expectations of Simply Thai when I first walked through the door based on my cynical view of the local restaurant scene. What I got was fresh, spicy, and flavorful Thai food. All of the flavors are there. Lemongrass, Kafir lime leaf, Thai basil, hints of fish sauce and chili's. I only hope that they can keep enough business to keep themselves in business.

I love this place! Great food, clean, modern decor and super friendly staff. I am so happy to have such an excellent option for Thai food in South County. Be very careful about parking though - I parked in a dirt lot adjacent to the emporium and was towed while I had lunch!
