Excellent food. Great wait staff. Fair prices . Friendly bar area. Comfortable dining room . Don't miss the happy hour specials..1/2 price appetizers.. Great selection and delicious too! Monday night ..free mini appetizer with purchase of Margaritas or Sangria! Some favorite appetizers you must try: zippy grilled shrimp served over sautéed spinach, teriyaki or buffalo chicken skewers, nachos, broiled scallops. Skip the fried calamari as they weren't anything special. Can't wait to return!!

Place got recommended to us by another couple. We almost didn't find it because it's hiding off the main road. There's a large sign but nothing on the building. Wasn't sure if it was a church or if we got the right place. I didn't want to get stuck by lightning again. Harold was our waiter. He was great. Drinks were delicious. Happy hour menu rocked and they had a special Tuesday menu when we were there. Place looks clean, fresh, modern. On a touch of fancy side. Food was delicious. Loved the happy hour menu. And of course, we ordered too much food as we always do. I got a seared tuna salad for $9.50 and a flat bread pizza with fig jam, arugula and goat cheese for $7. Both were yummy and large. Husband got $22 Tuesday dinner that included fried calamare and a lobster/seafood dish on pasta. Both tasty and plentiful. It was a Tuesday, place wasn't full. I will come back, for sure.

Love Meritage...this is the perfect place for a happy hour, to celebrate a special occasion, or to host a private event. They're generally only open in the evening each day (open at 4:30 pm every day except Sunday, when it's 2 pm). The happy hour specials are fantastic (available before 6 pm and after 9:30 pm) and offer half priced appetizers (nachos are my favorite) and pizzas (all are good I can't recommend a favorite). The drinks are impressive and some are enormous (particularly the sangrias and margaritas). They also have different nightly specials (i.e., Monday if you buy a sangria or margarita you get an app for free, Tuesdays they have a $22 prix fixe menu for a two course meal-entree and a salad/dessert/app). It's a beautifully decorated restaurant throughout with numerous private rooms/spaces that are great for a birthday-bridal shower-baby shower-party etc. They've got a variety of private event menu options (you can preview some on their website) and all of the private events I've attended here have been fantastic! They take open table reservations so if you're planning to visit with a large group or on a weekend/holiday night, make your reservation ahead of time!

I enjoy coming to this restaurant as I love the atmosphere and food. Service here is good! There dishes are really enjoyable. Especially love their stuffed peppers and buffalo chicken skewers. Their pizza and flat breads are delicious. They have huge flavorful margaritas or sangrias! I love their stoli dolis (pineapple infused vodka)! Happy hour is 4:30p-6p and after 9:30p for half off appetizers, but you have to sit in the bar area! Great place but I usually pass by this place as it is hidden by trees. This is a great place to get together with some friends.

I like the bar area & the best option is the pizza. However, if you're a younger chick beware of the much older dudes looking to score. If your a gold digging hussy then this may be an option for you:) Wait .. maybe, a lonely hussy because these farts aren't really rollin in it.

My fiancé and I love coming to this restaurant! Whenever we are celebrating something, this is where we come! Our server tonight was amazing - thank you Andrew for the great speedy service. The food is always amazing and I'm excited to have the leftovers for lunch tomorrow!

I really love Meritage, the atmosphere is great and so are their drinks. They have GIANT Margaritas and Sangria, yes the caps lock was needed. They are great for happy hour, girls night or a date night out. The menu is small but everything I have tried has been excellent. When I go with larger groups it is best to split a few appetizers and have drinks. Each time I have gone I have had great service. The prices are fair for a classy yet causal dining experience.

The most impressive things at this restaurant are their desserts and their drinks and they have the best nacho platter in Rhode Island. I haven't been overly impressed with any entree to be honest and I feel everything is over priced even though they're always busy during the normal rush times. I highly recommend the nacho platter (available with BBQ Chicken if you'd like) and the Ice Cream Shmore Dessert. If you're looking for a decent pizza in this area of RI, they have the best in one I've had in East Greenwich.

I think that for dinner, or a date, or something that isn't a huge banquet-like function, you'd have a far better experience. Several people I've spoken with who have gone here for dinner had better experiences than I. Tucked away on Post Road (I drove past it twice), it's a decent little restaurant with a nice big bar. I showed up this past weekend for a bridal shower, open bar and buffet style. The sangria seemed good, and man, were the glasses HUGE! I didn't have any - I wanted to get the job done and went for my go-to: A dirty martini, very dry, lots of olives. The drink came out promptly, but wasn't dry OR dirty. They basically took some Ketel One and threw three olives in it. Strike one, I suppose, but at least I got a martini. The food was your typical buffet-style food - salad (which was ok?), pasta (undercooked and with bland sauce, and plain pasta with veggies), chicken marsala (much better), and veggies (brightly colored, but barely warm and not at all "roasted" as advertised). I didn't have the mashed potatoes, but they looked pretty typical. The best part of the meal was by far the dessert pizza. It seemed like pita bread (?) with a creamy marscapone cheese drizzle, and blueberry reduction drizzle, with blueberries and bananas. It was fantastic, and I probably could have eaten the whole pie. I'm going to figure out how to make it, because seriously. DEEEE-LISH. Overall, I wouldn't voluntarily go back, but if someone wanted to, and promised me dessert, I could be convinced.

Meritage is a place we love to head to for dinner. The food is fresh, cooked to order and there are always delicious specials. One reason we love Meritage is the variety on the menu. My wife loves seafood and I prefer something else. At Meritage we can both find something we love on the menu. The drinks are always yummy and the margaritas are huge! Who can argue with a huge margarita?

Birthday party venue. We had our daughters first birthday party at Meritage. Lindsay was helpful throughout the planning process. They were very accommodating -,we brought in decorations, our own cake, music and they prepared gluten free meals for a few of our guests. The grilled pizzas were great and we had the buffet lunch with chicken Marsala and salmon. Everyone raved about the food especially the salmon. Our servers were great Jamie and Jim and we determined the pace of the event. We didn't feel rushed. They were very helpful with packaging things up and helping us out to the car with the gifts etc Dave managed and quarterbacked the event - he made sure things were in order. We were very happy and highly recommend Meritage.

My husband and I came here last night 6/14 and both enjoyed it. We got the calamari and loved it! My husband got the filet special and I got the clams portuguese. Both were delicious! The ONLY thing we could say that could have been better was our waiter. He may have been new, I'm not sure. He did not offer or bring bread to our table and wouldn't have told us about specials if I had not asked if there were any. He asked us how the calamari was as soon as it was put on our table. He just seemed a little unsure of himself and not very comfortable waiting on people. We will be back of course because we've had several great experiences here and love the food!!

Great date night! The hub and I popped in for dinner. Sunday nights are wine enthusiast nights and a bottle is gratis if you buy 2 entrees. Our waiter, Brian, was GREAT! He offered specials and advice on what to order. The Lobster cardinale was AHMAZING! It had huge lobster, shrimp and scallops in a tomato cognac cream sauce!!! Yum!!! Brian said all the waiters order it for themselves. The roasted cod with lobster was also great!

Great place for a date night or a girls night out. They have a delicious variety of appetizers and grilled pizzas. The ambiance is classy and dressy casual, but not over the top. I have been here for dinner a couple of times, but last time I was here for a wedding rehearsal dinner in a private room with a personal bartender and an attentive waitstaff. The food was buffet style and it was delicious -- lamb and chicken satay skewers, Caesar salad, chicken marsala, grilled veggies and pink vodka penne. The dessert was unique -- a dessert pizza --- topped with blueberries and fruit sauce.

They easily accommodated a party of 10 (with reservation) had the special filet wrapped in bacon topped with a Gorgonzola cream sauce and gnocchi. It was outstanding. Cooked to perfection (medium rare). Apps, drinks and atmosphere where great. Server was excellent and accommodating. They didn't even charge a "cutting" fee for my birthday cake that was dropped off hours earlier.

My huz and I come here for the happy hour (weekdays before 6pm in the bar) occasionally because the bargain appetizers easily make up a meal for date night. Some favorites: grilled buffalo chicken tenderloin -spicy and tender lobster mac n cheese -creamy and full of claw meat served in a reasonable sized ramekin - yummy when heated to sizzling (this last visit it went back for a warm-up) grilled pizza with fig jam, goat cheese and arugula - - just like it sounds...yeah. it's good. Things to skip: - nothing - in the last ten years, I think I've tried everything...there are no bad choices. Added bene this past Wednesday - HALF PRICED entrees and pasta dishes for guys. My husband enjoyed a tasty 10oz. fillet for a measly $14. Why only three stars? Well - the wait staff is just mediocre. The female wait staff borders on chilly and indifferent...almost like it's a bother to serve your table. Can't quite put my finger on it. Sad if it's their signature style but I have never felt like I've had a really great server here. The ambiance is nice and classy without being overly dressy. A nice meet-up space for a date or girl/guy night out - even a nice spot to eat with other couples. Not outstanding, but above average for the prices.

This is the perfect kind of place to go on an intimate date to have some drinks with some appetizers or dessert.... As far as the entrees.... I had a hard time trying to find something to order, so I settled on the tomato and mozzarella pizza.. The appetizers are delicious with so many to choose from, that I would be happy just eating some apps for my meal.. However, since I'm not a huge seafood fan, the menu was pretty limited. The ambiance is what makes this place so delightful. It's very intimate inside, lowly lit, and the bar is very classy. It's good for big group; and although I wouldn't say it's the perfect place for kids,( the noise level is on the louder side), I would say that decently-behaved kids would be OK to bring (we brought our 5-year old). All in all, the quality of food is good, but selection is limited, service is above average, and the atmosphere is perfect.,

I had an engagement party in their martini room this past weekend and I was so impressed! From the moment we walked in, first the room looked beautiful, second they were so helpful, right there at our neck n call, then the food started to come out, cheese platters, fruit platters, seafood bar with shrimp cocktails, oysters, etc, then the antipasto platters, then the passed apps which included stuffed mushrooms, chicken terriaki, and these scallops wrapped in bacon...everything was delish!!! Then our buffet, with prime rib station and pasta station, eveything delish! Then their dessert pizza was a huge hit, but I also brought in a cake which they cut and served for me no charge! It was a fantastic night, no one wanted to leave! The waitstaff was right there at all times! I would recommend Meritage to anyone! Thank you again Meritage!

A great place to unwind. Popped in for an early dinner with my girlfriend...we were sat immediately and service was on point. We ordered seared scallops as an appetizer....perfectly done with out them drying out....for an entrée we had a thin crust Hawaiian style pizza. Nicely done, it had just the right amount of toppings. Being there for happy hour, the prices were excellent. I recommend this place as a low key spot to relax.

I really think this place is just ok. The menu is so small there aren't many choices. I never know what to order because there is nothing I like besides the pizza which can get boring. The drinks are really good though I will give it that, but what good is drinking if the food isn't good to go along with it? Not my favorite place but its alright.

Have been going for years. Used to be alot better than it is now. Service and food has been somewhat inconsistent on recent visits. The wait staff/bar staff isn't as happy as they used to be. Appetizers are good but main dishes, not so much. Great atmosphere, good drinks, just need to change it up. They have had the same Monday, Tuesday, etc. deals for years.

Outstanding service and excellent food. The desserts are a must for sure. The atmosphere, wine selection and menu will keep you coming back to try something new every time. It is great to come alone, with your family, and even with a work group.

Pretty Good Food, Pretty Good Drinks, Pretty Good Menu (pizzas, sushi, salads and apps), Pretty Good Food/Bar specials nightly, Pretty Good Prices. Meritage (and Chardonnays, they're sister restaurant) is pretty good! Lots of variety and nothing 'bazinga special' but pretty good all around!

I went here once and only once, with no real desire to go back. Not to say the restaurant wasn't good; it simply wasn't noteworthy. A gift certificate funded my night of averageness, otherwise I probably wouldn't have ever gone. The chilean sea bass I got was good, though I found it odd that we were not offered any bread prior to our meals.

Always on point. Great food and great service. The staff is always happy to see you even when they are slammed. Favorites; Beet Salad, Nachos, Scallops, Salmon, Tuscan Chicken, Monday night Sangria and Appetizers.

Nice place for half priced apps and drinks in the bar, would skip dinner here though. The bar is a huge wrap around and definitely an older crowd so it keeps the rowdy factor down.

I always end up getting their Rustico pizza. If you enjoy a thin slice of perfection, this is it.

This place gets a huge following with the EG/Warwick crowd. I wouldn't say there's anything really special about this place, but they do have decent food. I'd say it's definitely a great spot for a "girls nights" to grab some apps and drinks. The entrees I'm not too big of a fan, but appetizers are definitely worth it. The zippy shrimp is good, definitely the nachos. I also recommend the fig and arugula pizza. As far as entrees, last time I had the chicken gorgonzola. I usually love chicken and gorgonzola dishes, but this one didn't do too much for me. I think it was probably the sauce/glace that just wasn't that great. Kind of took away from the chicken and veggies.

Meritage is a true, true gem. My husband and I have been thoroughly enjoying the Sunday evening special which requires us to purchase two dinners in order to receive a bottle of wine. This restaurant is consistently excellent in its food quality as well as its service. We have always been pleased with the wide menu choices, the wine choices included in the special, and every waitstaff individual as well as the hostess. These friendly and accommodating individuals kindly listen and care about their diners. It seems that the waitstaff is well-respected by the manager(s)/owners and that happiness is reflected in the way they carry out their tasks. Most often, we have the Pork Medallions Gratineé which are tender and tasty. I have alternated with the equally delicious Chicken Gorgonzola. However, last week I was delighted with the newly added scrumptious and moist Grilled Pork with a pear and apple chutney topping. It makes the end of a weekend a really special time!

I make a lot of trips to East Greenwich and often forget about Meritage. No more! The food is great. I loved the nachos, smothered with REAL cheese and goodness, not soggy. I ordered the portabella sandwich with sweet potato fries. It was delicious! Meritage is best known for their amazing margaritas. The glasses are huge! I had the red sangria on this trip and it was just as notable. And our server, Ashley, was fantastic. It was a busy night and we had a large party. But Ashley was attentive and friendly and provided great customer service. I will definitely be returning soon!

I went to Meritage on a date night with my boyfriend, as he received a gift card for Christmas. Neither one of us had ever been there so we were excited to try a new place. We arrived and only had to wait about 20 minutes for a table , but we waited in the bar area and had a beer. We sat at our table and were greeted by our waitress, we ordered another round of drinks then our food. Our service was prompt and food was good. I ordered the penne jambalaya which has a nice flavor. Overall the food and the service was good. My only complaint was that I did notice when waiting and while eating was the mood of the restaurant. I liked the decor, but the music choice was very interesting. Over the speakers of the restaurant, they played everything from Nelly, The Fray, back to Nelly, and ended the night with slow R&B jams, which after having a few cocktails, made me really sleepy. I felt like the restaurant couldn't decide what type of place it wanted to be, so it threw off the atmosphere a bit. I would say I would go back again for happy hour or appetizer, but I am not in any rush.

This is one of our favorite spots to grab some amazing pizza and appetizers and the most delicious margaritas! I can not speak for the actual dinner menu as I've never gotten past the appetizers section. I highly recommend any of their grilled pizzas, my favorite is the fresh tomato and mozzarella. The grilled buffalo chicken is very yummy and the giant plate of nachos are always hot and crispy! We often will go during their 1/2 prized appetizer deal and split a pizza and salad and we always have at least 2 of their huge margaritas! Their sister location in Seekonk is good as well, but this is still our favorite!

My wife and I had dinner there last night, after the whole experience, we have decided not to return. It took so long to have our drink order taken & to finally get our drinks ....SO long! (No, the place was not full or overly busy at all) While we were waiting, a younger couple (early 30's) were seated near us and took one look at the prices in the menu and left before their water got to their table! (The server bringing the water looked lost when the customers weren't there) (My wife & I were prepared to spend over $100 for dinner last night) There is NO SUCH THING as a $25 Steak entree! I eat Steak all over the Country and have never paid that much any place else. The Steak was "just ok", my immediate comment was "this isn't bad" (for $25, it sucked). There was not an option for a baked potato, it was mashed only (what the Heck is THAT all about!) My Wife's Steak had to be sent back for more cooking, thank God she asked that ONLY the steak be taken back because by the time it got back, the rest of her meal had been eaten and my plate was clear as well. We had not seen the server since she left with the under cooked meat. (Dinner was done so she took the Steak home, STILL NOT COOKED!????????) Now for the bill......don't "assume" it will be ok to use a $20 gift certificate & still get the "free bottle of wine with the purchase of two entrees" or you will be embarrassed where you sit. (Nowhere on the menu nor the gift certificate does it say that or even imply that customers should need to think about crossing promotions) I don't know if it was the manager or the owner's instructions to the manager but in order to use the measly $20 gift certificate with what we had ordered and eaten , we had to pay the bill on two separate bills! The manager could not just approve the single transaction? Is there a "policy board" we missed on the way in? The bottle of "free" wine could not cost the restaurant $4 or $5 at most ($9 at the liquor store at most for quality) We bought SEVERAL gift certificates for family members over the holidays and received a "special" $20 coupon for spending over $100 (we spent over $200 there at Christmas) and we're told that one could not even be considered for use because we were already asking too much for using a gift cert. & getting a free bottle with our two entrees . 1. Bus staff should never bring food to diners (Extra hands for big parties is ok) 2. You will sell more alcohol if the server comes around more. 3. I partially felt that I was judged on the tip amount I was going to leave before we were served. (We dine out all the time & are great tippers) 4. We will give away the $20 "special" coupon or let it die in the drawer.

This was a place that I'd had on a To-Visit list. Since it's restaurant week, there were a lot of choices but Meritage had such a great menu to choose from. Calamari was delicious, I love trying new places and their spin on calamari was classic and tasteful. Lobster Cardinale was wonderfully made and filled with large shrimp & scallops in addition to a rather large portion of lobster. Their take on the classic s'more dessert was lovely, presentation on this was perfectly done with the server using a handheld torch at our table! Great atmosphere, great food & great service!!

Went here on a Saturday night and the wait was not long. We ordered sangria which were terribly watered down, very disappointing! The pizzas were good but the wedge salad was awful. Ditto with the nachos appetizer. They were dry and burnt on the edges. Our waitress was extremely unconcerned, disappearing for long lengths of time. We had to ask for empty dishes and glasses to be removed. Probably won't go back.

Had a chance to try this place out due to work. I would've never found it nor thought of going on my own had it not been for work. The location is a bit strange, hidden behind a wall of tree/bushes? If it weren't for my GPS, I'd probably not make it there. Anyways, at the time of arrival, the restaurant started getting patrons. And soon after, got pretty busy. The restaurant is very dark inside, the decoration is very clean and contemporary. The staffs were pretty attentive to our needs. The food: the calamari was fantastic, crispy and flavorful. The marinara sauce that accommodated this can easily be dismissed because it didn't add much taste nor value to the calamaris. I had some pear salad with gorgonzola cheese and pineapple vinaigrette and it was also very good. The zippy shrimp was okay... For entree, I had the lobster ravioli and I was quite disappointed. It was basically lobster ravioli in marinara sauce, nothing special. They did give 2 large shrimps on top of the raviolis. I was expecting a creamier sauce but this definitely was not it. The raviolis itself had plenty of lobsters in them but the sauce was not good. For dessert, I had the PB & C. One great piece of cake, chocolate cake with whipped peanut butter which was later coated in chocolate with solidified. I highly recommend it. I will likely go back for a second round on my leisure time...maybe having to work while eating affected my rating.

Good food and service. However, table request not honored despite reservation in advance (in this place, reservations before the day in question are rare). Appeared to be two managers (guys in dress shirts and ties), but neither came to table. Disappointing as don't believe too many tables reserved in advance and ordered bottles of wine...Can't believe the owners would approve...

Great happy-hour deals on appetizers. I recommend the nachos. Nice ambiance. My wife and I were only here for a quick bite to eat but I would certainly come back for a date night (with my wife of course!).

I recently had dinner at Meritage in East Greenwich with a party of nine. I started with the calamari which was served with the traditional hot pepper rings. The serving was huge and could easily be shared. I ordered the Tuscany chicken for my main course and it was delicious. Easily one of the best chicken dishes I have ever had. I completed my meal with the s'more pie which was fabulous and a very generous serving. I ate every bite of it even though I was full. Our server, Mike, was very attentive and personable. I can certainly recommend this restaurant. What a wonderful dining experience!

If you're looking for somewhere different, try Meritage. I had the grilled pizza with fig jam, arugula and goat cheese. It was a party in my mouth. We all got different dishes and no one was disappointed. The service was great too.

My husband, our two children and myself just had dinner there tonight. We went around 7pm they only had two other tables besides us and a few in the bar. To begin with we only orderd waters to drink bec it's a school night. We could tell waitress wasn't thrilled to be taking care of us from the get go. She brought our waters, my husband had to flag her down to put in an appetizer order. Lobester Mac n cheese, delicious but tiny portion that took 20 min to get to our table and was barely warm, brought out by a busboy. By this time we were ready for refills on our waters but we had to wait until the same busboy brought our dinners to ask. Our server was no where to be found. Dinner took 40 min to arrive. My husband had the salmon, our son cheese pizza, and I had the pork medallions. Dinner was very tasty but not worth the wait. Finally our server made an appearance. Again we had to wait about 15 min after finishing dinner to see our server. She never offered dessert or anything else. Just brought the bill which we were happy to pay and finally get out of there. On our way out we could see employees eating and mingling happily in a private "martini" room. No wonder our server barely made an appearance. Overall food was good but service was horrible and very slow.

It is a good place. When we first walked in I was very impressed with the decor. Great atomphere, low lighting and dark wood. Great bar area for those looking to hang out somewhere nicer than the sports bar. We quickly seated on a Saturday night (may of been an off night). The menu was a surprise considering the decor. It was a mix of everything. It is like a Italian/Japanese restaurant had sex with a sport bar to created this love child of a menu. I will note that when I see a menu that has pizza, nachos and sushi, I dont have high hopes of good food. But i have been proven wrong. Everything we ordered was great. Straight from the website.... "Our menu features a selection of fresh, eclectic American cuisine fire-grilled pizzas, steaks, sushi, pastas and more" and it does..lol.. We split the wedge salad, yum. I ordered the Blackened Tuna rare and it came out perfect with this amazing rice. Mark ordered the Kabob Trio, cooked perfectly also. We were very pleasantly surprised with our food. And we are looking forward to going back! So everyone dont judge the menu until you try the food. :)

After a mentally and physically exhausting day, I was more than ready to sit back and relax with close friends I love and always look forward to seeing. The choice to go to Meritage was spurred by a comment I made regarding what I was in the mood for earlier that day. I was craving a fruity, nutty salad and french fries. While there are tons of places in Providence that could satisfy those cravings for me, we wanted to go closer to where our friends lived and somewhere we haven't been to in a long time. Meritage, a popular and sort of sophisticated spot famous for its grilled pizza and pasta dishes, was a logical choice, since they offer a salad that fit the bill as well as both sweet potato and regular fries! When you first drive up to Meritage, I always can't help but notice how the building looks like a former church or library! As you get close, you can kind of see that more- the entryway reminds me of the entryway of the library I used to go to often as a kid! However, inside is a setting which is both sleek and modern, but very comfortable and homey as well. You kind of feel like you're in a ski lodge that has been renovated to reflect it is in fact a fine dining establishment. The menu is pretty eclectic and diverse. Apps range from traditional American eats like calamari, crabcakes and nachos, but they also offer Asian-inspired starters as well. Of course, they have a huge thin grilled-pizza menu, as well as pastas, steaks, other meat and seafood offerings, and a pretty decent salad selection. We all just ordered our dinners right away- I basically asked for a combo of two of their salad offerings. I ordered their pear and gorgonzola salad (greens, pears, candied walnuts, gorgonzola and pineapple vinaigrette) without the cheese, and asked for extra nuts as well as added beets, which I spotted on the menu as part of a different salad. The waitress was super-cool, telling me such alterations would be no problem. Of course, I ordered a side of fries, but complicated things a bit by asking for a mix of sweet and regular fries. Again, it was not an issue! I was handed over the plate of fries first. . . Well, honestly I thought (and still think) this is the weakest plate of fries I have ever seen served to me at a restaurant! When I say weak, I mean in terms of quantity. The number of fries on the plate actually is more like the number I leave behind when I can't finish a plate of fries! Seriously, the portion size was tiny, and I was really considering ordering a second round. I refrained though, because when my salad came out, I realized I had more than enough food! This salad did make up for my fry deficiency! It was huge- packed with walnuts just as I requested, with fresh pear slices, yellow and red beets and the most amazing pineapple dressing. You know you have a hearty and hefty salad when you can eat one full candied walnut with each bite! It was so exactly what I was looking for in light of my interpretation of what makes a "great" salad. I ate it all, with the exception of a few lettuce leaves here and there. I have been to Meritage many, many times over the last twelve or so years, but back then it used to be for their amazing grilled pizza and salad. It's nice to know that despite the fact I can't eat their pizza anymore due to my vegan and gluten-free ways, I can still enjoy my favorite salad- modified of course-as well as their tasty fries. I still am partially offended at their concept of what constitutes an acceptable portion for a side of fries, but I will give them the benefit of the doubt and assume that was a one-time-only occurrence. I actually plan on getting back to Meritage this summer just for that salad again- maybe then they'll have their french fry portion sizes straight!

I've eaten here 3 times. Each time I've had the same experience. The food is really good and the service stinks. We've been forgotten for 20-25 minutes at a time and blatently ignored at the bar. If you are a regular, this doesn't seem to happen as the staff bends over backwards to keep them happy and constantly chats them up. Like I said, the food is great, but dealing with sub-par service just isn't worth it for me. Plus, the prices are a bit high, considering the service is as bad as it is.

Had a good experience here for dinner. We had been here numerous times for half price apps and drinks, but had never gotten to stop by for a full meal. Unfortunately our experience started off on a bad note. We called to ask if they were on a wait, and after answering me, the hostess hung up on me. I said bye, I heard click. It was almost enough to make me not want to drive down there, but we decided to give it one more chance. Again when we arrived the hostesses seemed to have minimal interest in their jobs, but fortunately our waitress was much better. Very friendly and attentive. For an appetizer we got the buffalo chicken on skewers. The chicken was SO tender and delicious. Perfectly spicy. For my entree I got the Gorgonzola Chicken. This was really tasty but I would have appreciated a little more gorgonzola... I love me some blue cheese! My husband had the chicken salad and really enjoyed it. Of course I had to get the sangria, it comes in a HUGE glass and is a real bargain at $9. Glad I made the choice to come down and will return if I'm in the area, although I think next time we will sit in the bar area as everyone else in the dining area seemed to have a good 20 years on us.

We've dined here a couple of times the past few months and like it. The food is pretty good - last night we had a shrimp scampi pizza that was tasty even though the thin crust was a bit limp and not as crispy as I prefer, while my fiancee had a fish special (I think it was halibut) which she said was good, and I had a tuna steak that was cooked as ordered (rare) and was okay as well. Does it sound like I'm not excited about this place? Well, honestly, I'm kind of on the fence. Don't get me wrong, it's good, it just doesn't overwhelm me with "great". The service has been good every time we've been, even though last night the waitress seemed a little too attentive, stopping by every few minutes to see how things were. Of course that's better than not seeing the server at all, but there's gotta be a balance, you know? Also, for the fish dishes, they serve mixed greens, i.e. a salad, on the side of the entree. When you put a cold salad next to a hot piece of fish, the greens tend to get a little wilty. Maybe that's what they're going for, but I don't really get it. If I want a salad, I'll order it separately, thank you very much. Overall, Meritage is a solid, if unspectacular dining experience. The bar area looks like it could be interesting, as their drinks are large, the area is dimly lit, and there seemed to be a lot of scoping going on. Thank goodness I'm not into that scene anymore. It seems to get crowded on the weekends, so definitely make reservations if you plan to go then. I've always been seated on time when I've made them there.

Went here a few weeks ago. The same menu as their sister restaurant Chardonnays, which I like better because of the location and atmosphere. Big points for the fireplace, service, and delicious meatloaf.

We decided to have dinner tonight at marriage as we live in EG. We ate there three weeks ago and my wife had salmon which she enjoyed. My meal was a different story. I had the grilled meat loaf which was a disaster. The meat loaf was dry and swimming in a brown gravy that will bring back memories of your high school cafeteria. I decided to give them another try tonight as the drinks are good and my wife had enjoyed her fish. I ordered the pork and again it came well well done swimming in some sort of sweet gravy. It was worse than the meat loaf. My wife had the pumpkin agnolotti and there were only four in the bowl though she did enjoy them. I would not recommend this place for dinner. Sit at the bar have a grilled pizza (looked good) or the nachos and some drinks many many places much better for dinner. HG

i came here a few weeks ago for a late night date and it was very good! the sangria was to die for and was served in a HUGE glass! we ordered the mediterranean pizza which surprised me. it was delicious! sometimes restaurants over do it with feta cheese when it comes to this type of cuisine but all of the ingredients were perfectly distributed. it was a thin crust pizza too so i didnt feel so guilty eating late at night. the ambiance was very comfortable and the service was excellent.

My husband and I went here for our 13th wedding anniversary because a friend recommended it for atmosphere. Well the food was great but it was pricy for the atmosphere which is really no fault on the restaurant. We wanted romance but got brown paper covering our cloth table cloth. The wine was just OK, they were out of stock on the first option and still added it to our check so which we had to send back to be fixed. We had the mushroom app. which was good but nothing to write home about. My husband did the stuffed sole special which they did a fantastic job preparing and he even enjoyed the roasted veggies (he's not a veggie guy). I ordered the filet, it was just "ok". They let you add a blended butter sauce and I chose the lobster one and literally they put a pinky nail size of this sauce on the filet. You don't have to douse the filet but give me something to taste! We had the recommended PB&C dessert which was out of this world and if you are into Peanut Butter it's a must try. This was a 40 minute drive for us so I can't say I would go back again. It just wasn't memorable enough, they do own Chardonnays in Seekonk (or close to there on route 44) and perhaps I'd give them another chance but it would not be on date night.

This spot is off the beaten path on a main road in East Greenwich and you would miss it if you didn't look quickly. It is a dimly lit, nice setting with sort of trying to be trendy decor. the staff is nice and helpful and very quick. The menu has a variety of New Enlgand selections and seafood and steak. The wine list and cocktails were pretty good. I would say the food is okay, not really worth the prices but not bad. I had a Surf and Turf and the Prime Rib was okay and the shrimp were very good. It is worth a visit but there are many other spots that are better. This is probably the best in this area though.

I recently stopped in on a Monday and this review will not adequately capture how disappointing the experience was. The glasses felt gritty and the pizzas were burned, dry and bland. There is no reason for anyone to eat at this place.

So far, Meritage has been good for us. I live in the area and have tried it 3 or 4x. My most recent meal there was last week. My boyfriend and I both work late so we often end up grabbing a drink and a bite to eat later in the evening. This is a good spot for us in this regard as they serve until 10 during the week and 11 Thurs - Sat. The atmosphere is low-light and relaxing. They have a private martini room for functions which I will keep in mind for the next little event we organize. The drinks are good (huge margaritas!), the pizza is flavorful with a nice, thin crust. My Italian boyfriend is tough to please with pasta dishes, but he enjoyed his fra diavalo. For my meal, I had 2 appetizers: a cup of the "soup of the day" which was a red pepper and basil concoction that was very tasty. I also had the sesame tuna appetizer... pan seared to perfection. Very flavorful, generously sesame encrusted, and in a tangy and yummy sauce. Yum! The service ranges from okay to very good. Try it!

We had our baby girls christening party here last Sunday and this place is absolutely awesome. We chose the Grand Buffet for the event and it far exceeded my expectations. The raw bar was endless, the prime rib was so good people were going up for fourth helpings and the pasta station was to die for. The manager, wait staff and bartender went out of their way to make sure our every need was taken care of. I am still getting calls 3 days later about how good the food and service was. 5 stars from my Italian / American family and that is saying something. I would recommend Meritage to everyone. OVERRATED OVERPRICED PRETENTIOUS, would not go back. Food was good, however the menu was limited, there were basic dishes I thought were missing probably in an attempt to be "avant garde" The waiter was stuck up and cold. I only went there once but would not go back to give it a second chance. again PRETENTIOUS!

Recently went here to celebrate an anniversary in a low key way; We called for reservations and were told that seating was limited and the only available time as 530...ok we took it. When we arrived there were noticably many open tables...now that I think about it....when we left there were noticably many open tables...hmmm. Service started out strong. As others have noted our waitress seemed overly attentive coming back every five minutes to see how everything was. It didnt end well but i will get to that later. Food: calamari as an appetizer- this was perfectly executed. I couldnt have asked for a more delicious appetizer. Meals on the table- Filet, mashed and veggies and orange and ginger glazed salmon with mixed greens and mashed. Food overall was very good. FLavorful salmon and tender filet No complaints in this department. After we finished our entrees was when the service started to go downhill. Our waitress had a total of four tables (mostly couples) and I can also add that she had a food runner and a bus boy. After our dishes were cleared she apparently began to forget about us. We asked for more wine... we watched her go by our table several times over the next ten minutes and finally witnessed her realization that she had forgotten..she ran to the bar and returned with our drinks. SHe did the same thing with our dessert order and our bill. Dessert was not impressive- the menu seemed more cliche than quality. There was no tiramisu or cheesecake which is the scale my husband uses to measure a quality dining experience. We opted to try the banana split and the brownie sundae- mostly just a lot of whip cream. I also have to add that the music choice did not match the ambiance. Top forties music was playing (the same four songs) over and over. Honeslty Carrie Underwood and Rhianna would not be the entertainers I would choose to decorate the place with sound but hey...

I live nearby and have been going to this restaurant since the late nineties. By now, I have eaten there over a hundred times I'm sure. While I have had dinner on occasion, my husband and I go mostly for drinks and the appetizers which are served in the bar area. The restaurant has a very comfortable atmosphere; people of all ages are patrons and blend nicely. The servers are quite professional and friendly. Nick, a server who also tends bar, always remembers our order and makes us feel welcome. This service ( which is far above the norm and should be emulated by other restaurants) combined with consistently good bar fare and half price specials makes for an enjoyable affordable evening. I rate it 4 1/2 stars.

Try it!
