One of my very favorite local places. Very professional and friendly service. Never had anything on the menu that I didn't enjoy. It is very unpretentious; it delivers authentic French bistro food. Lunch is great. I think that prices are very reasonable. I have eaten here at least a dozen times and it is very consistent.

Another outstanding dining experience at Le Central! From the warm greeting when we arrived, our server was outstanding! She made our dining experience outstanding. Attentive and helpful, she helped us to make our dining decisions. We enjoyed the entire evening but our entrees: the swordfish and boullabaise ,as well as, the creme brulee and apple tart were particularly outstanding! This is an incredible restaurant that I highly recommend: excellent service, exceptional food, and a warm ambiance make for a special evening every time! Again thank you to our server for wonderful evening!

We went to Le Central again last night for a quick dinner. It was fabulous as usual, which made us wonder why we don't dine there more frequently. We'll have to work on that.

Le Central, is just an easy little bistro that serves up good food without the fuss and muss of a trip to Paris. Clean, white table clothes, comfortable booths, big bright windows facing the sidewalk and most of the trusty entrees you'd expect on a bistro menu. I had the Caesar Salad which was delicious. The bread and olives that were served before the meal were very tasty. Prices are decent and service was good. PS. This restaurant is undeniable very French influenced NOT Portuguese.

I went on sunday for brunch. Overall, they do a very good job and there was only one flaw that I noticed. Our server was great. She was kind, outgoing, and funny. At one point, she spilled a little of my fiance's bellini, but then brought us a little champagne to make up for it (even though she didn't have to). We ordered quite a bit of drinks. The brunch menu has a surplus of champagne based cocktails. I ordered a mimosa, bellini, and a pomellini (champagne and pomegranate juice). My fiance ordered a bellini and some sort of Chambord drink (I can't remember the name). They used quality dry champagne, so none of the drinks were too sweet. They also used real juices, which is refreshing at brunch. They served us bread from Pan D'Avignon (Hyannis, MA), which was fantastic (as always). That was a great way to start because I was starving. For my meal, I ordered the Lobster and Mushroom Omelet, which was a special. The filling was lobster and mushroom in some sort of creme sauce. The mushroom and creme sauce combo was killer. The mushrooms were sweet while the creme sauce cut the sweetness with fat and salt. It came with a side of root vegetables which was perfect. The only concern I had about this dish was that it seemed that the lobster was undercooked (there was just something off about it). I felt that this was not up to the standard of the rest of my meal. My fiance ordered Eggs Florentine (which she asked to add bacon to). It was like some sort of breakfast corn mac and cheese. It was fantastic. Worth a try if you stop in (add bacon, always add bacon). Also the Cinnamon Popovers possibly could be the greatest food creation of all time. I would say it is worth popping in in the morning, ordering some, and heading home if you want an incredible and cheap breakfast.

I love this restaurant !! We go for Sunday brunch often. Food is always fresh, creative and delicious!! Waitstaff is great and the place is classy, eclectic and artsy. Highly recommend it!!

I can't figure this place out. The atmosphere is "blah" (although improved in my most recent visit) - the food is worthy of return visits but it just doesn't inspire me. The value is good - but not so overwhelming that I think of it first when we head into town for a meal out. Needs to find a spark to put it on the map - perhaps we'll try their brunch next (I've heard good things - just not great things - sense a pattern?)

A long time favorite. Great, reasonably priced bistro food. Pleasant attentive service and a laid back casual comfort atmosphere. Try the duck - always good.

Run, don't walk to this marvelous restaurant. Perhaps the most fabulous restaurant in Bristol. Chef Jesse James (yep, that's his name folks). Turns out immaculate food in a wonderful atmosphere with lovely service. Tune in later for descriptions- but you won't go wrong.

Had dinner at Le Central on New Year's Eve 2011- fabulous!! Have never been a fan of going out to dinner on a holiday, especially New Year's Eve!! Was very impressed with not only the qulaity of the food served, but also the service on a very hectic evening. We had reservations for the last seating of the evening- 8:30. We were warmly greeted upon entering and ushered to the bar as our table was readied. We started with a bottle of Veuve Cliquot which was chilled perfectly and set the tone for the evening. The menu was a prix fix and our table enjoyed a mix of flavors that included the roasted Moonstone oysters, melon & prosciutto crisp and shrimp in a winter gazpacho. All were very well prepared with distinctive flavors and well presented. For our mains we had the grilled rack of lamb, bruleed lobster and Moroccan spice roasted organic chicken breast. Again, all dishes were extremely well prepared and the flavors were out of this world!! To finish off our gastronomic delight, we had their chocolate-pecan tortes along with an apple strudel- what a way to cap off a simply fabulous meal. Again, the service was very consistent and the quality, preparation and flavors of all dishes were superb!! Wine list was good and very well priced. Would recommend that everyone needs to dine at Le Central- it's a great destination restaurant. Convenient from Providence, Newport and even Boston where we came from!! Keep up the good work- we look forward to our return visit!

Dined at Le Central on Sunday. Most pleased with the menu and variety of offerings. Opted for a simple green salad (perfectly dressed), Mussels (exquisite presentation in a covered dish that assured steaming hot temperature and a delightful amount of thinly sliced garlic), and Frites. The bread is warm, the butter is room temperature (as it should be).Simply perfect. Always have had friendly, efficient service. I appreciate the music that they play is appropriate and definitely in the background. The decor and artwork is curiously eclectic.

Quatre etoiles! Ima cut to the chase: days later I can't get one of the most memorable drinks I've ever had out of my head. - the refreshing PERFECTION of the Granita Mojito. My husband and I stumbled in weak, weary and a bit wet on our way home from the Newport Folk Fest. I saw "mojito" on the specials menu and once I got past my moment of judgement (uhhh, mojito at a French restaurant? - isn't the season of everyone-and-their-mother -including MY mother- serving craptastic mojitos sooooo 2009? .. .. yeeeeeeah, that sounds good.) we ordered two. Not knowing what granita was, t'was a most pleasant surprise to see a couple of tall glasses served with a floater of cool green frostiness on top. Perked us right up. House-made scoop of mint and lime granita, somewhere between a sorbet and a Italian ice, with a taste that shifted from tart to smooth. And all this wonderfulness drifting into the cocktail itself - ah! bliss! As we gushed at our server, she told us they serve it all summer long and have fans banging at the door for it by the first warm day of March. I believe it. And will become one of them. I love the simplicity of the French bistro menu with lots of small plates to choose from in addition to entrees. Most were hits with a few just-OK items - a salad special and uber-flaky tomato tartlette. The roasted corn chowder and the iconic French onion soups were generous and terrific, as was the hanger steak and crispy/soft potatoes Anna. Couldn't have asked for better service; we were even invited to a larger table after seating ourselves at a deuce. Nice and spacious atmosphere with French music and pleasant decor, though I did have to laugh reading Kay R. point out the 80's drop ceiling because I too noticed that the stars dangling from it really do "accentuate" it. Had a great experience at Le Central - fab food, friendly, very reasonably priced - can't wait to come back for brunch or a date night.

Disappointed. We went here for brunch. The menu was limited. I had the mussels but turned out it really only have a small pot of mussels with nothing else, no side, no frites. The taste was mediocre. Totally overpriced in this case. My friend had a soda. It was a tiny glass and of cause he refilled for more. Turned out they charged per glass and my friend ended up paying for 8-9 dollars for his coke. Seriously??? We didn't remember seeing it in the menu (either drink price or no refill). I brought my friends here and I totally felt bad and embarrassed cause I brought them for a ripe off!! The waiter should at least have the courtesy to inform us when my friends expressed he will need a lot more soda when he ask for the first refill. the burger was dry and again with almost nothing on the burger except the patty. The only good thing was the fries. So mussel, burger, and 3 soda costs us almost 40 dollars for lunch, with a nit so generous tips. If I had known the check before my bf pay for it, I am going to complain. But he stopped me cause we were with our friend. Btw, this was June. I started the review but then too angry to finish it then. But I definitely will never come again. - Update - Re: jesse j. of Le Central Couple things: I am just trying to write an honest review about my dining experience. I am very disappointed by your reply. It sounds like you are accusing me of lying. I never bad mouth any restaurant. I remember how many soda I ordered and I know how to read the itemized receipts. By the way, I was there on 6/15/2013 about 2pm, if you care to find that receipt. The only reason I wrote this review was to give information/warning of refill charge cause I was assuming the staff know their job. I know some restaurant do charge for refill and it is okay as long as customers are informed. Now I guess I would say make sure you know exactly how much you will be charged for each item and check your bill and see if the amount is what you expected, if not ASK QUESTIONSSSS. My bad for thinking there may be more from your dish, I should have just stick to what your menu says. Considering that, it is still over-priced, both the burger and the mussels. I know how a bad review may ruin things for a restaurant, that's why I am always careful about giving a bad rating. Your response seems to justify the rating I gave. And re-reading the first review that I did give 3 stars, I kind of have it coming that the dish is overpriced for what it actually offers.

I am amazed that this place is not busier. Being French myself - this is one truly authentic - simple and delicious French restaurant. The wait staff are friendly and totally attentive. We came for lunch had a house salad which was a highlight with the most delicious, authentically French and flavorful vinaigrette. The croque Monsieur was divine. My husband had the Niçoise salad with fresh grilled salmon - flavorful with perfectly crisp green beans.

Le Central is a lovely place for a casual brunch in Bristol. The menu offers everything you'd expect to find in a bistro, with Croque Monsieur and Moules standing out. The front of the restaurant has large windows that allow the room to be filled with natural light. Keeping with a very French bistro-theme, the floors are back and where, there is a counter towards the back with bar stools, and a private dining area towards the rear. French music played and several other tables seemed to be enjoying their brunch as much as we were. The tables aren't packed in, so I can imagine this being a great spot for a romantic date night. The service is good - subtle, warm and efficient. We were seated immediately, given water and had our order taken within 5 minutes. The food was good and fresh, but nothing special. I enjoyed it, but wouldn't go out of my way to come here again.

My wife and I love it here. We try to come a couple of times a month for brunch and sit at the bar. Service is superb and it's always VERY tasty. We usually share the dishes we order so we've been able to taste a wide range of the dishes. I recommend the Goat Cheese And Arugula Omelette if in the mood for breakfast and the Lobster BLT if in the mood for lunch. However, EVERYTHING we've ever had has been wonderful.
(5)Tiffany L.
Came here for a Sunday morning post wedding brunch hosted by the newlyweds. The bread basket full of fresh pastries ROCKED. Their eggs benedict were so simple but so perfect, and I loved my quiche - lots of hearty breakfast meats mixed in with the eggs. Such an awesome brunch!

5 star if ever there was one, I had brunch with pomellinis ...atmosphere, service, food, top notch

Had a Groupon to Le Central so we stopped by on a Saturday to enjoy an early dinner. However we left feeling "Meh." We went around 5:45 and were the second ones in the restaurant. We got a strange vibe from our waitress that lasted the whole meal. She didn't seem very pleasant, in fact she was bland which turns out to perfectly describe their food. I got the Catlan Cod and Clams and my gf got the Atlantic Grilled Salmon. The cod and clams tasted pretty good, but probably something we could've made at home, especially for 18 bucks. It comes with 4 clams and two small pieces of cod in a small pot with some veggies. The catlan noodles come on the side, and again were very bland. My GF said her Salmon was alright. It was light though again the price doesn't match the food. Like a previous reviewer mentioned, the place is buzzing with fruit flies. The service was below-average considering there were only 5 tables seated, with two waitresses working. We probably won't come back since the quality doesn't match the price. We wouldn't mind paying full price if it was worth it. Not even sure it is worth the Groupon price.

My husband and I wanted to cap off a special day in Newport last Saturday night and were the first customers in the door as they opened at 5 p.m. on a recent Saturday. Kristen, our waitress, recalled my phoning earlier in the day to ask about the Lobster Mac & Cheese, a favorite of both of us. She specified that the tail and claw meat of a 1 1/4 lb. lobster was to be used on each dish, and that the item included gruyere cheese, which is usually a thickener to the pasta when baked. The menu description mentions the panko crumb finish, which is usually used on dishes that are baked. We waited an average time, having a soup and some oysters first, which were both good. The main dish presentation was nice, in the crock, but it wasn't until I turned mine onto my plate and saw no tail meat and runny white sauce on the pasta, maybe because the lobster meat was watery, as if from a soft shelled lobster. As a long-term lobster lover, I was a little surprised at the small portion of claw and joint meat only. Then my husband turned his onto his plate and noticed even less lobster on his. We got the attention of another waitress who let the chef know we were looking for the rest of our orders, and she said he would comply with our request. After ten or so minutes, though, what we got amounted to no more than 3 ounces of more claw meat. We were so flabbergasted we paid our check and left. By my estimate, having shelled hundreds of these, we were still missing a good 6-8 oz. of lobster. Whenever we have this dish, including at Chelo's, where the portion size is generous, the pasta is baked with the lobster, not shoveled together into a bowl as if fast food. I've never written anything on Yelp but our kids tell us it's a great way to navigate good and bad restaurants. I wanted to think this was an off night for the chef and asked him to respond with a refund of one of the dishes. But, Jeff responded that "The amount in your dishes was 6 oz, because when I shelled the lobsters the portion looked small. Occasionally when doing two mac and cheese in the same pan, one gets a little more than the other and I apologize for that if that was the case." The next week we bought local 1 1/2 lb. lobsters at Seabra market that yielded just under a pound each. I hope whoever had the rest of ours enjoyed it. C'est fini for us.

There are plenty of bad restaurants, but very rarely does one really plumb the depths of what's considered abysmal. Case in point: Le Central. Based on the food and service, it's clear that this is not a professional enterprise. It seems like a vanity project for some trophy wife or an old fat pensioner who thinks they can manage a restaurant because they watch too much Food Network. To my fellow Yelpers who said the food here is bland and poorly made: You are right. I apologize for not listening to you. This is the only place that somehow managed to turn a hanger steak into what tasted like a tough rump roast. Their menu sounds tempting but whatever comes out on your plate is bland, horrid, poorly made food. Like the Onion Soup made from rancid stock. They achieve the double-double of managing to screw up both taste and texture. Could it be because the chefs can be seen fooling around instead of working? I don't know. But bad cannot even begin to the food here. To add insult to injury, the bread was old and crusty. As a wannabe bistro, the interior is poorly designed and dirty. A film of dust covers the décor and poorly cleaned tables, which have been crammed to accommodate as many people as possible. The result is you being forced to share your meal with seniors that can't control the volume of their voice. Finally, the less said about the service, the better. The inept high school kids have probably been hired as a money saving technique. They look like fools as they stumble around with no idea of what they're doing and have to be gently talked to as you explain what's required of them. A terrible experience. But if you're the type turned on by the masochistic undertones of 50 Shades of Grey, this place will make you suffer enough.

This was my first stop after arriving in RI from CA, and I couldn't have been more impressed. I sat at the bar for happy hour, the staff was AWESOME. If the short rib is on the menu get it!
(5)William D.
Restaurant is a cozy spot in historic Bristol. Restaurant has a European "bistro" feel and look. Ambiance and atmosphere is slightly above average, however the house is very dark. Enjoyed the coq au vin which was cooked to perfection. The dish emulated many popular flavors originating from the southern region of france. The service was superb and the wait time was minimal. We will definitely return!
(4)Elizabeth R.
The food was somewhere between good and acceptable and, unfortunately, the service was painfully slow. I had fish with spinach and rice pilaff which was quite good but the appetiser we ordered and my husband's chicken dish were both quite marginal. i'd be hesitant about going back.
(2)George S.
My wife and I live in Portsmouth, RI and we are regulars at Le Central for a number of reasons including the attentive wait staff and the dinning room is very pleasant. The food is always good and the prices are very reasonable. But the location is the real reason. Instead of fighting Newport traffic and crowds Bristol offers a great alternative. Located right on main street after our dinner we always go for a walk near the harbor. Great service, food and a better alternative to Newport.
(4)Kay R.
I really want to love this place. Super cute decor, extremely friendly and helpful servers, and a 'classic French' menu. But, after several visits for dinner and a brunch - I like it. The best description of the food is a metaphor with the decor (ha - that rhymes): Beautiful black and white broad checked tiled floor - bistro tables nice for an intimate meal, or larger tables for Gram's 85th birthday celebration with the fam. Red punch-tin (or tin-looking) stars hanging from the... what? 80s-drop tile ceiling? Seriously? Lovely drop pendant lamps and... I can't believe it... 90s-some-burn-out-track-lighting? Really? It's the almost - but not quite. Very few probably notice it, but I do. So easily fixed! The decor may take a little $$ investment, but it is the cherry on top - the finishing touch that truly makes it, or breaks it. That is also Le Central's food for me - so close! But not quite. Brunch was by far my best experience here - nice mix of breakfasty-lunchy foods to satisfy the culinary cravings of a group with eclectic appetites. My mac n' cheese was okay. My dining companion could not stop raving about her savory crepe - food envy ensued. We'll probably be back, but there are other Bristol establishments that top our dining out list.
(3)Stephanie Z.
My husband and I went on a groupon. Delicious mojito and lobster, and they even had a good gluten free beer for him! They were attentive to our dietary needs (gluten free), and the atmosphere was great! We will definitely be back!

Terrific neighborhood bistro, the menu is fresh, creative, and wonderfully prepared. We really enjoy their tapas, as Le Central is one of the few restaurants around that offer tapas. We haven't been disappointed with anything we've tried and we love sampling many little plates. Tonight we tried the tuna panzanella. The tuna was just a tad past rare, but despite this, the dish was delicious. After a string of sub-par cuts of tuna at other restaurants, the piece I had was very nice indeed. My wife had the grilled lobster with a cilantro pesto-like sauce (I'm blanking on the name, and it wasn't chimichurri...). The summer corn chowder was divine, rich and creamy, without causing that heavy "lead sinker" feeling in our stomachs, like so many chowders do. We ordered the hangar steak for our kids. They all loved it and the kitchen did a really nice thing and split the dish up so that each of our kids had their own (perfectly sized to boot) serving. March 3, 2012- Visited again. The food was excellent. Again. The service was abysmal. The restaurant was 3/4 empty, we got there shortly after 5 p.m., the service was glacially slow, and our server messed up our order to boot, completely omitting one of our ordered entrees. Hope this is an aberration and not a trend...
(4)Meg M.
Nice romantic atmosphere, great drink selection, including some nice French wines. The price just doesn't match the quality of the food-something is lacking in the execution department. If the prices were less, it would be a great value, but when laying down that amount of money, your taste buds want more...i.e. my duck was cold, server forgot our drink order, flavors were okay but not outstanding/pretty so-so. I would try it again for lunch where I do not have to spend as much to experiment with the menu. I really want to like this place more as I love French food!
(3)Jenna C.
This review isn't really for the food, which I think is terrific. We had the pleasure of eating here twice while on vacation last year and both times the food was wonderful and the service equally as great. We were really looking forward to dining there again on this trip. Today's visit for brunch was a disappointment. The issue wasn't with the food, which was again, quite good. The service left something to be desired and there were a lot of fruit flies. One landed in my companion's water glass within a few minutes of sitting down. They buzzed around throughout the meal, one of them finally coming to rest on my food as I tried to shoo it away and our waitress looked on. I then told her I was obviously finished and she took the plate away, asking me if I wanted something else. As I had now lost my appetite, I declined. She didn't seem too concerned. We were then presented with the bill where I was charged full price for a meal I didn't finish a third of. When we politely asked if the bill could to some degree be adjusted, she was visibly annoyed and the attitude was obvious. She then had an animated conversation with the manager which we could hear from our table. She definitely didn't seem happy. When handed the adjusted check (5 dollars less, which was fine) she said, "We were able to take half off" in a condescending manner, as if she were unwillingly doing me a favor. Tomorrow is our last day of vacation and when we first saw the menu today we decided we would be coming back for lunch tomorrow before heading home. Obvously our plans have changed.

Mary and I went to Le Central after an event at Roger Williams University. I think we went into the restaurant because we were hungry. Certainly we wanted a nice meal, but we left thoroughly happy. I wish that I could remember what she had, my meal was the duck confit (always like having it out when available since it's rarely available in supermarkets). For what it's worth, I was raised in Bristol in the 70s and 80s so downtown has always been near and dear to me and my family. I have been a big fan of the transformation it has had over the last 5-7 years. However, I was skeptical about a French cuisine restaurant as the population is mostly Italian/ Portugeuse/ Anglo and very traditional in those respects. Glad to say that I was wrong given how busy the tables were and others were coming in at almost 9 at night. I wish Le Central a long and happy life in Bristol, they deserve it.
(4)Steven G.
We had a Groupon and made reservations fir Tuesday 10/22. We arrived to a restaurant that was at 3/4 capacity, two waitresses/bartender. It was about ten minutes before we were greeted by one of our servers after being seated. We ordered our drinks and waited another fifteen minutes before they arrived with our bread, We placed our order and waited approx. 50 minutes for our entrees, we did not order apps. nor were we even spoken to again by our servers between drinks and entree. The food was sub-par the service was horrible!! Two patrons actually walked out before we left as they waited so long for their meal! One woman to the right of us sent her pot of seafood back twice with problems! We will never go back and would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. The nice thing about Groupon is that you find some really good restaurants that you want to go back to again and again. And some really bad ones that you wish you wouldnt have wasted your money. This is one of the BAD ones!

This place is just OK when it comes to dinner. There are other restaurants just as good or better in Bristol and the surrounding area. What makes it stand out is their very cheap and very elaborate tapas menu, which you can't find just anywhere. Of course, it runs from 5-6:30 and it's only during the week, but you can get things like Jambon Ham and Gruyere for $2, Roast Green Beans & Goat Cheese for $3 (YUM), hot or cold oysters with different sauces for $4, or grilled salmon or duck confit for $5. The tapas menu must have 50 items on it. Back to dinner though... Everything I've had here has always been pretty good. Nothing has stood out or made me want to come back (other than the cheap tapas), but it's good.
(4)Terri-Lynn T.
Very disappointed. I thought we were going for nice French bistro romantic dinner. I was surprised at the cold atmosphere. No one even greeted us or other diners. You stand around for a while and they finally tell you to sit where you like? Food was very marginal. Only highlight was the homemade dark chocolate pomegranate turtles. May be OK for lunch but food was very bland.
(2)Hope M.
Food was great will come back when in the area!

This is a long overdue review. I haven't had many meals at Le Central. I get there only a couple of times during the summer, but have done so for the past three years. Located at one end of the East Bay Bike Path, Le Central is a perfect spot to take in calories and hydrate after a 30-mile R//T bike ride. Food and service have always been very good. And as it happens, we're always there on Sunday for an early dinner when they have very well-priced specials, including deals on local oysters and, last time I was in, steak frites. I also like that they don't mind that we're a little sweaty and have helmet head (from the biking). I'm on their email list and often regret not living in, or closer to, beautiful Bristol. I look forward to returning to one of my favorite regional bistros in the late Spring. Let me know what you think of this review by clicking a button below. Thanks.
(4)Sara C.
So disappointing. Service was friendly but everything else was a let down. Ambiance is funky. Food is mediocre at best. We got the grilled chicken sandwich. It was dry abc lacked much filling. The tuna ceviche was a bit better. The best part was the bread and olives.
(2)Brenda M.
We had a early dinner at Le Central last night. It was our first visit and we chose out based upon proximity to the bike trail. Even though our dress was far more casual than the other diners we did not feel out of place. ( side note, perhaps the owners could host a Tour de France night where cycling gear is mandatory?!) We shared a warm goat cheese salad to start and that's my only reason for a less than prefect score: the spinach was under dressed and bland but the goat cheese on a sliver of bread was delicious. We followed with salmon nicioise (sp) and coq au vin, the latter being sublime! We split an apple tart and a port to close out the meal and called it a lovely experience; we'll be back!
(4)Ron N.
There are aspects that are a bit odd in the ambience, when you enter. But once you taste the bread, all those things fade away. Everything is exceedingly fresh and carefully prepared. We had clams, mussels and the lobster BLT - the meat of a whole lobster, obviously picked from the shell freshly in their own kitchen on a brioche that was out of this world. Service was thoughtful and friendly, above and beyond expectations.
(4)Polly A.
Always Excellent Sitting at the bar or at a table - this has become our go to restaurant for a wonderful meal . Food is creative and never disappoints - the service is attentive and pleasant - the ambiance is comfortable and inviting.
(5)Jennifer M.
We come here twice a month and have never had a bad meal. I usually get the burger and it is delicious. The wait staff is fabulous; they are couteous and attentive.

I went to a shitty wedding and found this place by accident... I have never felt so happy in my life.. Ever

During a spontaneous getaway to Rhode Island, one of my dearest chums and I came across Le Central by happenstance and, gosh, are we glad we did! Our server was Brynna and she was top notch! The combination of her demeanor and her fine serving skills really elevated our already lovely experience. Furthermore, the food was "tres magnifique"! I ordered the duck confit while my friend got the coq au vin and they were each cooked to perfection. Scrumptious! The restaurant is laid out beautifully with decorative stars hanging above elegant white table cloths, and it's just a minute's walk from the gorgeous waterfront. Take it from me: you should give this place a try. Bon appétit!
(4)Cameron C.
All I have to say is "duck confit with fennel sausage". This was fantastic! This was cooked perfectly to the point it just melted in your mouth. Not a lot of people around on a Sunday but it was awesome! Also, the foie gras with port jelly was on point as well with grilled French bread. I will be returning soon!
(4)Cristina P.
Brought my Dad here for his 60th birthday and front start to finish he was delighted! Really delicious food, nice strong coffee, nice variety of entrees. Tomato basil soup was perfect, really just great! There is no kids menu tho, fyi
(5)Amy W.
My husband and I have made this our go-to weeknight dinner place... They do a great special Prix fixe menu on Wednesdays and Thursdays, but you have to get on the email list! It's always something creative and seasonal; occasionally absolutely brilliant, an occasional miss but mostly great dishes. Every other time we've gone I have carefully considered the menu items and then I always order steak fries, which is lovely... Best fries in town. Although if there is a duck fries special, get the duck!! Service is friendly and efficient. Totally worth a visit.

The best restaurant in the East Bay. Fantastic food from local sources. Hard to pick a favorite, even the simplest meal like burgers and fries are made special by Chef Jesse James's special recipes. The Wednesday and Thursday Stimulus menus are always different and imaginative. For a fixed price ($25) you get a full meal with wine that is different every week. The service is excellent and the atmosphere is super. We go at least twice a month, and often much more frequently. Can't recommend it enough.

This is the fourth time in a month that we have been here for dinner. As usual, the place is not crowded but the food is really really good. The cuisine here is best described as Southern France...it is what you find in a typical restaurant by the beach in Cote d'Azure (French Riviera). The baguette here is served warm with a light crunchy crust. The lobsters were great. Soupe de Poisson (Fish Soup) was a bit thicker than what you would typically find in Nice but it taste great. Lobster Mac and cheese was delicious. Well worth a try if you like homey Southern France French food....not the fancy Parisian kind!
