We were passing through and wanted a quick, non chain delicious lunch. Found it all at Roburritos. service was very friendly, homemade salsa very fresh & tasty. We had mini roburritos - one chicken and one half barbacoa half steak. Both were very tasty. Had yummy homeade limeade to wash it down. Only suggestion to improve is to add refried pinto beans as an option. We will definitely stop again when passing through York.

Worth the slight detour if you are heading north on 83. Or south, I guess. Anywho. I got the vegetarian burritodia which is a flattened and grilled burrito. I loved the potatoes in there! Also there were black beans and rice and cheese. I am a big fan of starchey burritos so the combo of the rice, potatoes, and burrito shell was a hit! Vegans would probably prefer a burrito. They looked really good too. The hot sauces were awesome. My favorite was the tangy and pineappley Pearl Harbor sauce. Also the ambiance was cozy and nice.

The place in York on West Market is really small so expect your food to be to go. I guess it's okay for York Pa. The ingredients taste fresh. Not sure they cooked the tortilla all the way. Coming from California these burritos suck but for this area I guess it will do.

Please make a location in southern York county!! There are no Mexican joints so you'd have a huge advantage and I miss you.

The sauces make the burritos. Also the old school 90s rap playing in the kitchen ain't bad.

  • Vance C.

I've been going here since it opened. Awesome food and hot sauces. You have to get sauce on the burritos, though. Try pearl harbor.

A breakdown of the burritos: The wrap is something you can buy anywhere. The ingredients are fresh but seriously lack in seasoning/flavor. The cheese is good and is the star, not that it's great(but who doesn't love cheese?), the steak and chicken are both just ok, and the guacamole is just fine. So, it's not bad. Very overly hyped, maybe at one time they made some amazing food but now it's pretty lack luster. Are the burritos bad? No, not at all. But is it worth almost $7 for something that is only a step above a certain gas station that has a MTO station in quality but give you less in quantity? I don't believe so, I personally wouldn't suggest giving it a try. It's just not worth the money or effort.

The burritos are fresh, made to order, and delicious. You take your pick of Grumpy Mark's hot sauces to add to your choice of chicken, steak, potato, or surf and turf burrito or quesadilla. Although the dining area is small, you always have the option of taking deliciousness to go. One of my favorite stops in York, PA.

We've eaten at Roburrito's since he opened. Portion sizes have gone down and prices have substantially risen. I know.... That's called the cost of business, but it's been disappointing to see. Had breakfast burrito and chicken quesadilla at Central Market this morning. OK good... Too expensive!

"Meh" pretty much sums it up. The burritos were "meh"; not bad, not rave worthy. Moderate portion to price. Could care less about the decor (we did take-out), although tattoo parlor comes to mind. Admittedly, it was the first time going here, so i didn't know the "ordering" process or that extra sauce is a charge; sorry to be annoying and ask questions. I also could've done without the "attitude" from the dude behind the counter. I might be old, uncool, and perhaps even clueless, but let's try to contain the blatant disdain, especially when i'm about to give you money. Unless you have a high threshold for counter help who are too busy to help when you are the only other person in the shop, i'd say pass. Now, if hot/spicy sauce is your thing, maybe that's a plus for you. In the end, it'll be a long while before i give any of the Roburrito's more money.

We loved it. The BBQ sauced are also wonderful. I ordered the half burrito and was full. My wife is a Cali girl and said that this was here best burrito since she left the coast. Give this place a try. No frills, just great food.

Wow! I was craving nachos and did a Yelp search for Mexican restaurants close to home. The Roburrito's menu listed that item. I drove there to appease my craving. I am so glad I did. These are the best nachos. I'll be back soon to try the Burritos.

Been going to Robs since they opened at the Dallastown location a few years ago. The burritos are nice size and very flavorful. If you eat in, you can try all the different hot sauces available. There all in squeeze bottles at the front counter. The "Cuban Missile Crisis" sauce is my personal favorite, its not for the faint of heart for sure. Getting your burrito in a meal version nets you fresh salsa, chips, and a drink for one price. There's a Dr. Mario video game there to pass the time while you're waiting for your food to come out. This isn't your average burrito shop. They have punk rock music playing in the background and coconut monkey heads for decoration.

I think the recipes are great and food is good, but looking at the staffs dirty fingernails, clothes and hair, I cant say I recommend eating here. I wish I could, cause I used to enjoy the burritos until I actually walked inside once. The staff is just way too grubby, hungover and stinky for my tastes....as far as the 'hipster' feel a lot of the other reviews have referenced..LOL.

    (2)
  • Martha G.

I have similar feelings to some of the "not recommended reviews". I love the food but the facilities and staff kind of "gross me out". Have only been to Dallastown but often difficult to find a clean table, music too loud and awful, bathroom floor grimy in the corners. And the staff...generally polite.. but dreadlocks, tattoos, and piercing too numerous to count just don't scream appetizing to me. I guess those guys need to work somewhere until they grow up and decide to find employment in the real world. Having said that, those who referred to the food as bland really need to use the sauces. Midnight Mango my favorite. Flavorful but not hot. Love the salsa, guac, and chips and the prices too. And the grilled burrito awesome. So I guess you would call this a mixed review!

Burritos were really good. What makes this place stand out are the sauces. My friends and I had a blast trying the different ones and seeing which ones were our favorites. What I really liked about the place was the various signs/artwork on the walls. This is definitely a quirky place.

Spent all night puking and ended up in the ER with severe food poisoning after eating a steak burrito here. NEVER coming back.

2.5 Stars (Good, gets the job done, but could be better) We heard about Roburrito's from a few of our friends from the York/Dallastown area and checked it out for lunch today for take-out. Seeing great reviews on Yelp, we were looking forward to trying their famous burritos. Lunch traveled home well, except for the guacamole, which had completely oxidized and was grayish brown when we got home. The burritos were good size and had good flavor with tender steak, rice, cheese, and black beans. While the experience was good, the food was mostly average...especially for someone who's from southern California where there is no shortage of good Mexican food. For York however, this place seems like a popular choice and provides a change of scenery from the average fast food joints and a local answer to Chipotle.

Amazing! My favorite burrito in the world! Awesome breakfast too!

Cheesy goodness served with a punk rock attitude. I go here when I need my cheesy, sour cream, guacamole fix! They have a few locations (in Central Market, on Market Street, and in Red Lion). They are not fast (unless you say, "dude, I'm in a f***in rush, can you hook me up"), but they are gooooood and worth the short wait! Don't go here if you are thinking California style burritos, this place is run by a skater. So no cushy places to sit, no artsy BS. Just big ass cheesy Mexican (and I use the word Mexican very loosely to describe this food) goodness wrapped in foil and served fresh.

    (5)
  • Meagan H.

I love me a big, fat burrito with all the fixins, so I love me some Rob's. I usually visit the one in Central Market, but there are locations in West York and Dallastown now too. A friend tipped me off to the "Mystery Burrito" game - tell the guys you want a mystery burrito, indicate how hot you're willing to go and wait for the magic. I haven't been disappointed yet.

Been to all the "big burrito" places, most the time I'm unimpressed. Not all that big into chipotle or mexitaly... it always feels like there's something missing there, then you feel all blah cuz you you just ate a monstrous meal that wasn't worth the calories. But when I sank my teeth into my first Roburrito last night, it was like a first kiss! lol. The fireworks went off and the band started to play. That burrito crushed it out of the park. It was a very cool punk rock atmosphere complete with patches for you backpack and t-shirts to rock Roburrito pride. Probably would have been my kinda place back when I was in high school. The guy behind the counter was very friendly and inviting: asked me if it was my first time in, explained the menu and the idea of the restaraunt. Recommended the chicken burrito and helped me with the hot sauce selection. Probably my first experience at a take out place, hell any place really. Can't wait to go back!

My family loved Roburritos. The burritos were delicious and the chicken quesadilla rocked. The staff was nice and I thought the place had personality and charm. Reminded me of the East Village and that's a good thing.

  • Vanessa A.

I really like Roburritos. I agree with others who say that their rice is very bland. They need to use of seasoning on it. However, their potatoes are delicious! As a vegetarian, a lot of burritos are tasteless for me, but Rob's potatoes make it! My only other suggestion would be to have salsa other than pico de galo. Its bland. Have other choices with varying degrees of spiciness. Service is OK. Once I called in an order and was informed it was an hour wait. Usually they are pretty fast though.

Market fresh ingredients. Most important quality for any restaurant! Original "counter-culture" interior concept. Simple and creative menu. LOVE IT! I've been a fan since West Market and am so pleased they have maintained their quality. This location is very small (seats about 4 people inside) but it's their first which really gives you some perspective on their humble beginnings. Business is booming at Rob's so definitely check out what you're missing.

    Best vegan burritos ever!

  • Elephant R.

It's a simple burrito, not stuffed with gimmicks - like chips and ranch dressing - which makes it a beautiful thing. No seasoning, or salty goop spilling out - just plain, simple, fresh ingredients. Top it off with some Old Grumpy Marks (I truly think this is key to the full Roburritos experience), and you really have a winner. Oh, and the guacamole is FANTASTIC. I could see how the "punk-rocker vibe" could be somewhat off-putting, but it's all about the burrito, and these are as good as they get.

    (5)
  • Eric F.

I am in love with the original Roburrito with potatoes. The burrito is perfectly big and well stuffed with hot, fresh goodness. The taters are well seasoned and golden. The black beans are exactly done. The guac is velvet. The tommies are fresh. The white rice is soft.

  • Doug Y.

I consider myself a burrito expert and this place is just OK. The burritos are preconfigured so no real choices but they do include guacamole. Service is mediocre. I do like having access to different sauces although most have carrots in them and never sure if they are fresh. Personally, I tend to lean towards Baja Fresh or Chipotle since the quality is a little better. This place tries a little too hard to be cool but doesn't focus on much else.

  • Joseph C.

The burritos are on the bland side. But if you use one of there many sauces it brings good taste. I've been there once. The one I went to was in a crappy part of town and the restaurant was tiny. I love the metal music they have playing and the names of the sauces. The people are friendly and the food is of course made to order but not in a Chipotle kind way if you know what I mean. Not a big fan of canned soda wish they had a fountain machine.

Robs is by far the best place for a burrito in the York area. Their burritos are massive and their sauces make a fantastic meal irresistible. The ambiance is great (while the seating is a bit tight) and the employees are always charming and friendly.

  • Aaron H.

This is the original Roburrito's location and by far the smallest. If you value a clean eating environment, avoid this place or get your food to go. I love Roburrito's but the tables here are usually dirty and the service always seems slow. I reccomend calling your order in here and getting it to go. The food is still up to the Roburrito's standard, but the environment is a turn off for me.

  • Rick K.

Roburrito's was completely different from what i was expecting it to be. It is small restaurant that you can take out, or eat in (even though there are like 3 tables in the eating area). The burritos are over a pound. I would compare them to Chipotle, but Chipotle always has a place in my heart. I would highly recommend this restaurant for any burrito lovers out there. they also have a bunch of different hot sauces that they make themselves. They are delicious and I recommend all of them!

Bland... Okay, I understand they're catering to a particular crowd. But it's really got that Yuppie-healtharito feel to it. Both my wife and I were disappointed. A friend loves this place and I was so excited. Hoping to find a nice southern California style taco joint alike to Alberto/Roberto/Aibertos in San Diego. (If you've eaten a San Diego wet beef burrito with a bag of hot carrots and jalapenos - you know what I mean.) If you're looking for a simple, reasonably healthy meal. Give this place a go. It's probably a 3-4 * on that level. If you're looking for good authentic Mexican. I think there's better. That said, good advertising campaign, and yes - a vote for Roburrito in 2008 is probably better than any of the other candidates running.

Had a mixed experience. GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE. I asked for extra cheese and the employee dug his hand into the cheese and said "Is this enough?" and put a whole handful of cheese on my burrito. Before I could say yes, he grabbed another, and another, and it was just a giant mountain of cheese. I LOVE cheese so this was probably my best lunch ever, or #2 behind the time the power was out at Rutters and I grabbed about 8 hot dogs and ran out. But also when I bit into my burrito there was a Mega Millions ticket inside. It was kinda gross and wet so I showed the manager, and he winked at me and said "Good luck on the lottery!" I'm really excited that I get to play the lottery for free but my suggestion is to just hand the tickets to customers instead of putting it in their food. He also tried to grab inside my shorts and said "I want a sample of that burrito" but that happens everywhere and I told him to get in line.

  • Colleen S.

I agree with this place being "hip" but the burrito was boring, lacked any sort of freshness (the chicken didn't seem to be cooked that day) and wasn't what I like in a 1+ lb burrito. The salsa was nice but very standard and the guy went over with all his friends to make the burrito. Boxes everywhere with produce spilling out of them if so much stuff wasn't piled on the counter top I could of seen the work surface he was making our food on. It was only two steps up from Taco Bell, four steps below Neato Burrito.

  • Heather K.

I have to say that I wasn't impressed. The burrito I had was bland and the rice in it was overcooked and unappetizing. The guacamole was very good, but it isn't enough to bring me back.

Hipster hangout #1 in York. It's a great local joint with a young crowd. Rob dishes out some great food and is definitely realizing his vision. roburritos.com/menu.html Now with two locations, the original in York and one in Dallastown. Sweet.

  • Jon B.

I thought the burrito was solid. You won't leave hungry if you get it. Service was a little rough but the food is good. I would eat here again.

Best in town. Always fresh and so delicious. Owner is an awesome dude too. Long live Rob!

Went here a few months ago with my husband to visit some friends. I was not too impressed with the outer look of the place but the food was hot dang good! I had the chicken quesadillas which was amazing and my husband and friends had the burritos. I took a bite of my husbands food he got the burrito and it was very tasty and was better then Chipotles( at least to me ). I gave it 4 stars because the place could look more nicer and roomier but the food was delicious.

  • Michele A.

Great food!!! Order it Kyle's way (crushed chips and the mango salsa) fantastic. The crushed chips just make the burrito. WE have family that live in York so we only get to go when we visit. Tonight was my second tie here and its fantastic. I ordered the Roburrito with steak and potato with only the crushed chips and it was great.

I have personally only been to the one in dallastown. Its actually in an old Subway shop. My fiance and I enjoyed the Dr. Mario arcade game they have (that is totally free to play!) However it was a little sticky. The food was what I expected it to be, decent. I couldn't finish my chicken taco because it was pretty big so Jeff finished it for me. His burrito looked good, although I'm not a fan of beans. There are only 6 booths, so I wouldn't recommend going at a "peak" time unless you were ordering to go. Overall, if you are less than 30 years old and enjoy alternative/punk music and tex-mex food, you will really enjoy this place. Otherwise I would try somewhere else.

  • Everly B.

Definitely get "Rob's Burrito" - it's tasty and humongous. I had the nachos which were only meh. There's barely any place to sit but that only adds to the grungy charm as do the pierced and tatted staff (very sweet, btw).

    (4)
  • Jessica M.

I love this place. You have to appreciate a young guy who is running two burrito shops and serving up YUMMY food. I love the atmosphere and the staff is super friendly. Just like Rob... and dang... can I just say.... Rob you are a hottie!

Good Fresh food. But don't go looking for true Mex. More like Taco Bell on steroids.Good portions with ok prices.

I was lucky enough to have some business associates recommend this cool little burrito joint. The food was delicious, the hot sauces were original, tasty and yes hot! You could pick this place up and drop it in Austin on the drag or SoCo and it would fit right in. Now that's saying a lot for this little place in York!

Amazing burritos. Everything is in there but the kitchen sink. I got two, thinking one would not be enough. I was wrong, they are huge.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
