We were driving home from a long four day road trip. After spending the day in Gettysburg, we were looking for some good, fast and cheap. I had driven past Cheddar's multiple times and wanted to try it out. Boy, was I glad we did. There was almost zero wait. We were seated and greeted by Hunter, how was AWESOME! He was a huge help the entire time. We each had a lemonade, I had strawberry and my friend had raspberry. Not my FAVORITE lemonade but it was good. Lemonade was very tart for my taste. I ordered the Key West Chicken and Shrimp and my friend ordered the Cajun Pasta. Both came with salad and croissant. Order the salad just for the bread. It is AMAZING! I wanted more. LOL! My chicken and shrimp was awesome. Small portion but big on flavor. The marinade was amazing. I had a side of broccoli and cheese casserole. Had I known it was so good, I would have ordered two of them. My friend loved her pasta, it was a HUGE serving. I'm not big on spice but it had the right amount of kick for her. All in all it was amazing place with good food and friendly service. And we will DEFINITELY be back again.

Just not impressed. The food is basic diner food, and not even good diner food. I really don't believe they make your food from scratch like the menu says; wouldn't it be close to hot when they bring it out? Our server screwed up my order, and really didn't care or attempt to fix it. Definitely will not be back.

I'll preface this by saying, I'm pretty picky about my food and where I eat. I give a place two tries max, and if they screw up, the service is horrible, they're expensive, or worse yet, the food isn't any better than meh, then they don't get a third try to impress me. This is a new place, so you can expect everyone and their brother to be there, wanting to try it. Guess what? You're most likely going to have a wait, as they're going to be busy. The first time we went there, we had a 15 minute wait (during the week, for dinner). The second (today for lunch), we were seated right away. I don't mind waiting a bit (no more than 20 minutes) if it's worth it, but the food had better be good. Now how about the food? The first time, I wanted to try the pot roast, but they were out of it. Oh, well, I got the fish tacos instead. Today for lunch, I finally got the pot roast. Both times the food was FANTASTIC. The fish tacos were amazing--HUGE pieces of fish for two tacos, plus a side (I got broccoli and there was a lot of it). The pot roast came with carrots (would have liked more), celery, onions on top of mashed potatoes and it was fantastic. Really good--I'd absolutely recommend getting it. Another thing is that I got the peach iced tea and it was very good. My son got the Monte Cristo sandwich the first visit, and it quickly became his favorite, as he ordered it again today. The quality and taste were consistent both times. The prices were also very reasonable. Today's lunch came in under $30 (including tip) for two people, soft drinks/tea included, which is pretty good. The service the first time was a bit slow. They were busy and I think we'd gotten a new server. Today's service was very good--she was quick, friendly (without being overly familiar) and kept our glasses filled with drinks. I found myself today scoping out the menu, planning on what I'd try the next time I go. And based on two experiences thus far, my next visit will be fairly quick.

Man oh man this place...seriously one of the worst food experiences I have ever had. The ambiance is very nice, the staff seems nice, the managers were nice....but the food was AWFUL. Nachos...turned out to be a few burnt pita chips with burnt taco meat on them, and a small pile of sour cream and lettuce in the center. Wedge Salad...normally .one of my favorite things to order anywhere...was a cube of old lettuce with a drizzle of some white dressing on it. No bacon, no blue cheese, no tomatoes...nothing to make this anything beside a cube of lettuce. Gross. Steak? Can we call it a steak? It was about two times the size of my thumb. I have really small hands. I will not return. I will not recommend this place to anyone. I seriously question the taste buds of anyone claiming this place has good food. I mean, even Applebys is better and Applebys is pretty godawful.

First experience at a Cheddar's. Husband got ribs and said they were good but not beast ever. I had chicken Alfredo. It was good but the chicken was spicer than I would have liked. Noise level was moderate (from people talking not from music). Service was OK. Our server was nice but just didn't check on us a lot. They get one extra star for good sweet tea. We were surprised to see sweet tea beyond the Mason-Dixon Line.

My wife and I ate here for dinner last night for the first time. This place has been open for a few months now but we never got the chance to go to this establishment until last night. The parking is ample and the restaurant is clean. The bar and dining area are nice and have a cozy feel. The menu has a lot of items to chose from and after looking over it for about 10 minutes I realized that I would have eaten most of the items featured on the menu. Good selection at moderate prices. The portion sizes are great for the price you pay. My wife got a margarita for $4.95, we split an appetizer for less than $5 and got two entrees for less than $20 and then finished it off with a mini dessert for $1. Nice prices huh? The food was tasty and good and the service was great. Our server was attentive and polite. If you haven't tried this place out, give it a try. I hope you have a dinning experience as good as my wife and I did. Thank you for reading my review. This review is based off of my personal opinion and experience.

i learned one thing at cheddar's, i am invisible. we got seated and the place was crowed. sat there for 15 minutes and not one person acknowledged we existed, yes i got up and left, what more needs to be said, nice restaurant but the staff is in need of training

Chedders is a really nice place to eat. The atmosphere is wonderful and the staff very good. The food is reasonable and tasty. You must have the onion rings. Yummy!!! Plenty of food choices on the menu. We all took food home with us.

This restaurant doesn't just have a great location along highway 30, it also had amazing food and service! The atmosphere is homey with it's amazing decor and friendly staff. This place is perfect for any group, hungry and all! Can't believe it's all homemade, with such a variety of food; all flawless with every bit. Thanks to our wonderful waitress, Caroline, to taking care of my hungry group!

You get what you pay for with this place. Everything was cheap and tasted like it. I would most certainly not go back. The bread & honey butter were literally the only saving grace.

Great food, good prices and quantity. We usually go earlier or later than rush. No call ahead, but worth waiting.

All of our food was so good today! We had Baha chicken, chips with salsa and queso (sooooo good!) I love this place! The food came out quick, the service was great, and we loved the atmosphere.

Excellent. Even during peak hours we received flawless, friendly service and excellent food. This chain seems very consistent.

Cheddars, lol, what a name. But it doesn't look like a "Cheddars" when you see it. Beautiful building and also nicely decorated inside. There's a huge tropical fish tank and large unique looking spinning fan on the ceiling. I've never seen anything like it. We ordered the spinach dip appetizer. Salty, fresh chips and the dollop of sour cream in the middle was a good addition. I got the chicken tenders and fries appetizer for my lunch and my boyfriend got the Spasagna (trademarked! lol). It was spaghetti mushed up to look like lasagna with meat sauce. Interesting! It tasted good though as did the chicken tenders. They were fresh. People weren't kidding about stuff being salty & the huge portions! Luckily I'm a big fan of salty fries. Overall, a nice, filling meal for a good price. My bf even had a Bloody Mary and the bill came to less than $30 without tip. I would recommend Cheddar's for a decent meal on a budget if you're in York.

1 1/2 stars Checked this place out on the first Saturday of opening week around 3:00pm. Had to wait about an hour to be seated, which I guess is not surprising since it's new. Bottom line - Food was alright for the price. Nothing special. Chips & Homemade Queso ..........poor Fried Catfish ..........fair Seasoned Rice ..........fair Coleslaw ..........good Fries ..........fair Baby Back Ribs & Chicken Tenders...fair Loaded Baked Potato ..........poor (false advertising, see below) Buttered Off-the-cob Corn ..........poor (though I enjoy the hilarious description) Pros: -They offer two craft beers, Sierra Nevada Pale Ale and New Belgium Fat Tire. Both are bottle only. -Interior/atmosphere was pretty decent. No yard sale junk littering the walls or anything. New paint, tile, seats, tables, a fish tank, etc. -Pricing seems to be slightly less than other comparable restaurants. -Parking lot appears to be large enough, with appropriate sized spaces. Cons: -The rest of the beer offered is your standard BMC swill. -The dining area was unusually COLD. I wanted to put my jacket on and eat. -Service was a bit in disarray. Our waiter tried but not everyone was on the same page. -Entrees were brought out without the sides. (Was halfway through meal before sides started to sporadically roll in. -Had to ask for sauces a bunch of times. -Ribs were a cheaper fatty cut with not much meat. But they were cooked well and the sauce was ok. -Chicken Tenders were dry and hard. Disappointing, especially when there's a section of the menu boasting about how great they are. -Loaded Baked Potato was NOT fully loaded. Cheddar's version of loaded apparently means butter, cheese, and sour cream. To the rest of America, the term "loaded" also includes BACON bits and chives. Oh well, live and learn. -The buttered corn was drowning in a bowl of butter. Meh, I will probably be back ..eventually. York isn't really the hub of culinary excellence unfortunately. -- Update 6/02/12 Chicken Pot Pie ..........nasty Philly Cheesesteak ..........poor (barely melted american singles, High School cafeteria grade)

I came into cheddars tonight really wanting to like it, I did. Instead, the menu was drastically different from online, the catfish was fried dark dark dark brown, and the service was forgetful and lackluster. The seasoned rice tasted like it was stewed in sugar. The monte cristo, as explained by a server, was prepared that morning, so they couldn't take off the ham nor swap the cheese. For such a wonderfully decorated restaurant, the food belongs at a truck stop.

I've been here several times now. My favorite aspect is the atmosphere in Cheddar's, They have a nice design and good service. Their food is appropriately priced and delicious! I would definitely recommend checking it out.

  • Jon H.

Food was pretty good, everything was fresh and the portions were very big for the cost of them. Beer selection was pretty dismal, only 3 drafts (all "big" beers) and bottle selection wasn't much better. Atmosphere was kinda dull. The fish tank was nice but that was about it. Pretty boring. The Staff was extremely nice, though.

Having just been to my first Cheddars in Kentucky a few weeks ago, I was excited to spot this location along route 30 in York. With an easy on/off from both 30 and I-83, this seemed like the perfect spot for a quick dinner before heading back home to New Jersey. It was about 9:00 when we arrived, yet there seemed to be a wait. However being only a party of two the hostess asked us if a booth in the bar would be OK, it was and off we went... or so we thought. It turned out tables that were supposed to be clean, were in fact dirty. Led back to the hostess station, we were then led to the other side of the restaurant with 4-seater booths where, yep... again, all dirty, except for one. Thankfully we were sat at the one clean table, however I couldn't help but feel sorry for the other patrons who were waiting. Here the restaurant had plenty of empty tables, yet they just hadn't been cleaned. This was a management issue, which I hope was just localized to that night. Service was very friendly, however extremely, extremely, slow. I don't fault the waiter however, as he clearly had too many tables to take care of. Needless to say, our quick dinner ended up being a couple-hour event. That said, when we requested items they were brought out eventually, which even with the slow service he managed to bring out a couple (free) refills, which was nice. Upon leaving he even gave a fresh assortment of sauces in souffle cups to accompany the onion rings and salad, which was too much to eat in one sitting. Food was comparable to what I had experienced previously at the Kentucky location... nothing special, but filling. We ordered onion rings (a portion large enough for 4 people or more!), a Smokehouse burger, a side salad, a Buffalo Chicken wrap, and two iced teas. The rings were served with a horseradish/chipotle sauce and ranch dressing, fried in a thin though somewhat soggy breading. The side salad was very generous for its price, with a mix of greens, tomato, croutons, and a very buttery croissant. The burger was typical for a chain restaurant, well done (had asked medium), and had most of what was supposed to be on it... didn't taste/see the BBQ sauce. The Buffalo Chicken Wrap was excellent, with a portion large enough to be lunch the next day. The wrap was overstuffed with plenty of juices dripping. While I'm still not sure why people would wait the way they do for dinner here, the value is very good for what you get. Where else can you get so much food, yet still have the bill come to under 30 bucks. It isn't worth a drive out of the way to eat at, however if you're driving along route 30, or I-83 looking for a bite to eat, and not in a rush, this is a solid choice.

Cheap eats! This review is from their opening weekend: Went there last night to check it out for the first time and on the fence. When we arrived there was quite the crowd awaiting tables, but we were seated within an hour. Not bad considering its new and was a Friday. Our waitress was pretty cool and very open about the place and some of its "issues". I asked her why on earth a bar would have QVC on all but one of its TVs. Her response shocked me: apparently they do not control the TVs there, they come on daily at a set time. If this is true, someone at corporate needs smacked. When it came time to order we were informed that they ran out of ribs already. It was 630 in the evening! Again, we were told it happens every weekend, no ribs after 6-630. Wow, time to replace kitchen manager. So I ordered the Steak and Tenders combo and she ordered the Chicken and Waffles. All in all the food was good, though the steak was a little dry (and extremely small). Since the place has only been open for a few weeks, I am hoping they'll work out the kinks. I plan on going again in a month or so.

So, I read a lot of bad reviews about their service when Cheddar's first opened so I waited. I have been there three times so far and have been happy each time. Food and service are great. Salads are fresh and have a good variety of veggies, steak was cooked correctly and was tender and lean, salmon with addictive bourbon sauce was prepared perfectly. Buttery sweet croissants are sooo good. Wait staff is friendly, courteous, helpful. I haven't experienced a problem with them being out of food. The prices are lower than similar chain restaurants. I wish there was more of a variety of restaurants in York and I admit I wasn't thrilled to see another chain move in but Cheddar's is good.

Cheddars could be better...I really want to like this place because of the reasonable prices and generous portions, but they make it difficult. We decided to share a small order of cheese fries. I loved the fact that there was an option for a smaller portion at a smaller price and I was amazed at the size. However, the fries were soggy and the cheese wasn't fully melted. I got the chicken and waffles... The portion was huge and under $10, but the chicken was over seasoned and the waffles were so crispy, they were difficult to eat. We did enjoy the desserts...only $0.99 each, so we ordered all three flavors and shared. The only one we didn't like was the chocolate, but for $0.99, it was worth a try. Our waitress was nice, but we didn't see much of her. Overall, it was just okay, but at least we didn't spend a lot.

Tried it twice. Just not a fan. Food was below average over cooked and a little bland. Medium rare steaks come out well to very well done both times. It is very very loud here, bring earplugs,no really. Service was better the second visit, the first time was a very young lady.

Worst experience ever. I have been here a few times but this was by far the worst. We say down pretty quick for being a party of 10 but it took 15 minutes for a waitress to ask for our drink order and then another 15 minutes for her to bring them out. Our appetizers came before the drinks. Slamming the drinks on the table causing them to spill on me. She disappeared for another 10 minutes then came back to take our order. She took out order then we waited for another hour for out food. We had to get the manager to find out where our food was. Then as our food started to come out the orders were wrong and they forgot someone's complete meal. So they gave her someone else's and said here eat this until we get yours. So we had to put in for some sides missing and a steak that wasn't prepared correctly and the one meal. 20 minutes later Then another waiter came out who said our waitress left the premises what could he get for us and we again had tell him what's we were missing and put in for drink refills because that hadn't happened. Needless to say we were there for 2 1/2 hours with sides that never came a waitress who decided to return and tell us it was all the kitchen fault to the kitchen saying they never got the order until we complained to the manager and we saw the kitchen ticket time which matched the kitchens story. And in the end we got the entire meal free with the exception of alcoholic beverages which lucky for us weren't refilled but once.

Took my wife here on a date night. We had heard great things, and wanted to check it out. The inside is loud, and you can barely hear the person at the table across from you. The wait was horrendous. The service was absolute crap. Oh, and the food - you can tell from the average stars that the people eating here think Olive Garden is fine dining. Everything was over-salted and horrible. You couldn't pay me to recommend or eat at this place again.

Love this place! First visited when I still lived out of state and was very impressed. Now that I live here again, I go about twice a month. Service is always great, and food is delicious! And you can't beat the prices either, very good value for what you pay. My favorites are the key west chicken and shrimp, and the salmon with bourbon sauce. Both are very good! And the chips with queso (and free beef if wanted) are a requirement every time I go. I would definitely recommend Cheddar's if you're thinking about a great meal at a great price.

Don't be fooled by the "cheesy" name and appearance of a wannabe chili'sesque establishment, the chicken & waffles was great and their chicken and ciabatta sandwich was just as good. The fries that came with the sandwich were not good at all but "nobody bats a thousand".

  • Doug D.

You get plenty of food for the price and the food is usually good . Getting to-go usually seems like a headache though. Something is either missing, your order sits around before they bring it out, or it sits on the bar for 10 mins before someone takes the time to hand it out . The bar ALWAYS seems sticky , not sure if it need resurfaced, or it's just always sticky lol . If you're looking for a good value and good food, this place has it , just don't touch the bar lol ..

The food is great and the price is just right! Every time we are in York we stop here. Get the ribs, the sample ap. platter, croissant rolls.

My overall impression of this restaurant is they're projecting an upscale image with weird ceiling fans, stonework walls, and dark wood decor, so it's a surprise that menu prices are actually lower than other chain restaurants like Ruby Tuesday. So the food, at least, is a decent value and I was actually not disappointed with the taste either. Where everything fell apart for me was the service. It was very slow and the server seemed to disappear for long periods of time. When he did show up, he was polite, although his manner was very, very strange to me. Actually, they (the host, the food runner) all had strange affectations, so perhaps I'm just not used to Central Pennsylvania.

This is the 5th or 6th time eating at this place. The last time we ate here food was already borderline. I had ribs and chicken plater. My boyfriend had chicken steak with mashed potatoes. Alan had a cheeseburger. All 3 of us got sick. Was it the food? We ate here yesterday we had pretty much the same food. Side order, their beans, highly recommend. We could not eat the beans.. Horrible is an understatement. The manager did come to the table and told us they never had complaints about the beans. I asked him to try them.. I don't eat beans was his responds, but he will let the culinary chef know. This time 2 of us got sick.. Coincidence? Maybe they changed management, maybe they changed chefs. We will not go back.

We ate here two years ago, when they first opened, and it was a bad experience. Fast forward two years and we decided to give it another try. I'm glad we did. Everyone deserves a second chance. From the front door to the manager ~ service was great. I had the bourbon salmon with brown rice...salad on the side. The salad came in a large bowl with a great honey mustard dressing. When my meal came it TOO had a salad on the plate ~ oops! I had ask for salad instead of choosing two sides, but had I known there would be so much salad I would have invited the rabbits to joins us! The salmon was delicious!

We decided to stop for a bite to eat on our way back from Gettysburg. Service was lackluster and they were not even busy. I got the grilled salmon with bourbon sauce. It was just on the side of overcooked and overwhelmed by the chopped onions. My broccoli was over cooked. My supposed loaded baked potato only had a dollop of sour cream and about 5 slivers of cheese, no butter. Um, that's not a loaded baked potato. He had the chicken fried chicken that was soggy and placed on top of a piece of Texas toast that was grilled on one side and soggy too. His green beans are also over cooked and barely recognizable as such. We would have told the waiter this but he never came back to the table until we pushed the plates to the end because we just couldn't eat any more, actually there was no desire to eat any more.

I'm back again. This time I came here with my family and two of my close friends. They were some what busy and we has a party of 8, however we didn't wait long. We were seated in two booths back to back from one another. I ordered my favorite drink, Texas tea. As I was looking over the menu I noticed they no longer have my shepherds pie. This was very disappointing. I ended up going with the half rack of BBQ ribs. They were good and they came with two sides. I chose the mac and cheese and broccoli cheese casserole.

No complaints. The food was really good and cheaply priced I thought. Spinach dip was really good as an appetizer. Bacon cheese burger was good to how I ordered it and was very tasty. Service was fast.

Bacon Cheddar Burger was good! The Mac and cheese side was kinda small for what I paid for it but tasty! And the Wedding Cake alcohol drink was amazing!

The broccoli cheese casserole was so good and the red beans and rice were very authentic. The service I'd excellent and the design is very pleasing to the eyes.

I usually dislike chain restaurants, but after coming back to York, after being in NJ for a year, I noticed Cheddar's had been built while I was away, and decided to try it. I liked it so much the first time, that I've been back there 4 times in a month and a half! I give it 5 stars (which I rarely do), because each time my BF and I have been there, everything has been excellent and the price and the friendliness of the staff have been second-to-none. I have ordered their sirloin steak a couple of times and it is delicious. I have gotten their Loaded Baked Potato and Broccoli Cheese Caserole as side dishes and they are both awesome and tasty. Cheddar's also has this neat little side dish of simply warm croissants with melted butter and honey over them, and it is like eating heaven! I have also had their salmon in bourbon sauce, and also grilled shrimp with the bourbon sauce, and it is amazing. Their spinach dip appetizer with freshly-fried nachos and salsa is amazing. Everything tastes fresh, including the salsa which is simple, but the fresh cilantro in it, with its bit of a kick, sends it over the edge. Their iced tea is wonderfully fresh, and I got raspberry iced tea and it is so gold and simple - not sickly sweet or fake-tasting. Their coffee is good, and I got a dessert earlier, which, although I can't remember the name of it, was awesome. It was like bread pudding, but it was made of croissants instead, half-melted chocolate chips, butter, I think maple syrup and some caramel, and it was topped with a scoop if vanilla ice cream! I usually like independent restaurants, but I took a chance on Cheddar's and I am hooked. You really have to try it - if only just once.

They have a good place, for fast casual, but the meals could be kicked up a notch. Sometimes it arrived too hot, sometimes, lukewarm. Good location to meet with people on Rt. 30 and the Interstate. A nice alternative to the more preferable Round the Clock diner across the street.

Typical chain restaurant... Reminded me why I don't go to chain establishments often. I had the tilapia with mango salsa. It was overwhelmed by onions in the salsa and wasn't horrible but wasn't amazing either. The server was good. He was attentive but not overly so and was quick to see to drink refills when needed. This is not a place I would go out of my way to come to again.

Had a nice late lunch after a trip to Turkey Hill Experience. The onions rings are awesome. I had the braise pot roast, pretty tender and tasty. My son got the monte dogs from the kiddie menu. Pretty good, but the side of corn was too oily. The service was good. The restaurant was nice and clean. We loved the large aquarium they had.

Go hungry . . . or be prepared to take home leftovers. The portions are huge -- almost overwhelming! Good selection from chicken to fish to dinner salads. Older folks -- order a single entree and split it!

I have given this place two attempts to win me over and I won't ever step back in this place again. First experience I had , all I ordered was dessert. I was with some friends and not really interested indulging in much food. When I revived my silverware I noticed some stuck on food that wasn't cleaned off. I requested a new piece of silverware and the waiter came back with the same silverware!!! I gave my dessert away not trusting it after that move. 2nd time I was on a date and received non desirable service again. Our main meal arrived before the appetizer and our beverages. Service was quick but not expedited properly. Like some users have said the ambiance is pleasant , but it's quickly cheapened by the poorly behaved staff, undercooked food , and disorganization of staff.

I would love to give this place more stars. 2 would be for the food alone. I think the food is actually great. The service here is VERY VERY BAD. They don't pay attention, screw up my order almost every time that I have been there. Watched my server wait on a table that came in after me. He seemed more attentive to a table that would potentially give him a better tip then my table. That was a mistake. That night my order took forever to get done. It was to the point that it was an hour after the appetizer came out they brought my dinner. Which was only SANDWICHES! No discounts given on the bill after the manager stated he would deduct something. When contacting the restaurant about the experience no response. My boyfriend will not set foot in this place ever again. It had great potential when it came to York county but the service needs to get better. Honestly, i will not be returning to this location. When you refuse to contact a customer complaining about a situation or just giving feedback that means you don't care. So, if you don't care... then I don't care to give you my business anymore!

Cheddars, Casual Cafe We visited this restaurant on a busy Tuesday night just before what I would consider dinner time. We had 7 people in the party, and were seated almost immediately. Design and decor, was very nice! As I made my way to the table, I was greeted by another server. I sat down and began browsing the menu and prices. The prices didn't look all that bad. A few notes on our experience. Somel items on the menu were not available. (bacon bits on our cheese fries) This would not have been as bad, had we known that before our order was brought to the table. Also one of the entrees was forgotten about. We had to constantly remind our server of things that we needed, including the coffee I ordered toward the end of the meal. It is clear that they still need to work out some service issues. The food quality I though was pretty good. I especially enjoyed the cookie dessert at the end, which apparently they bake just before preparing. I would highly reccomend this dessert. Atmosphere was good. A bit loud, but was to be expected. It was asked on our card, if the manager visited our table, and I saw the manager periodically coming around the corner, but he never did make it to our table. QUALITY-GOOD SERVICE-POOR ATMOSPHERE-GOOD I will return to this location, considering they are fairly new, but definately need to give them some time.

This was our first time at a Chedders. And hopefully it won't be our last! We had a party of five and each of us got a different entrée including the chicken and waffles, the Asian salad, Montecristo and the jambalaya pasta. Everything was more then we could eat in one setting. The food was prepared expertly, served hot and was delicious! I am really hoping that one day we see this chain restaurant in our area in Maryland. Really can't wait to visit again.

Cheddars is not to be confused with a cheese based theme. Actually, this is a nicely priced restaurant with better than average food. Being a privately owned restaurant, it is a step above chain food themes. I will definetly be back!

The staff was inviting and pleasant. I had the chicken tenders and ribs with the Texas sweet tea drink and everything was great and fast. I'm hurrying home from a job and appreciated the service.

Cheddar's has disappointed me every time I've gone. The food was cheap (in price and quality). I've gotten cold pasta, undercooked chicken fingers (like come on. I ordered chicken fingers because I didn't think it was possible to mess that up) and a disappointing burger. On top of the long wait that preceded these meals. I just don't think Cheddar's is worth it.

Food was nice. Was surprisingly spicy which worked for me, but could be off putting to some. Service was good once it started, but was a bit slow to start. They have Titos vodka which always boosts a rating to me.

Cheddar's is a good place to go with your family if you are on a budget, I was surprised at how inexpensive both the dishes and drinks were. The food however, is mediocre. I ordered chicken with rice and broccoli and you could taste that the vegetables were frozen. The rest of the food was bland. Service seemed a bit slow too as we had to retrieve a waitress five minutes after being seated when we were told they were going to bring us a high chair. Another 15 minutes later our drink order was then taken. The atmosphere is actually really nice, and you would expect better food by looking at the place. Very open and inviting, there was a huge tropical fish tank by the bar and beautiful bamboo ceiling fans. Again, good place to go if you're looking to not spend a lot but with the quality of their food I would just stick to eating at home instead.

I'd like some food with my salt, please. Dude. I don't want to leave a restaurant feeling ill, lightheaded, and dehydrated because there was so much salt in my meal, especially when I drank two teas and a water to try and balance things out (but maybe that's the secret marketing ploy. Dun dun dunnn!). And the problem wasn't exclusive to my meal (potato soup, pot roast, veggies, and mashed potatoes); my friend was amazed at the sodium content of her fish and veggies as well. The guys didn't seem as disgusted or physically impacted by it, but they eat fast food and from chains way more than we do. You're probably thinking, "It's a chain; whadidya expect?" but an earlier experience here (I got the portabella/veggie sandwich then) left me with the feeling that it wasn't THAT bad, at least when you compare it to the rest of the members of the chain gang. Still, I wouldn't have elected to go back, except that it was New Year's Day, we were starving coming back from the cabin, and nothing else was open. Do right by your sodium-potassium pump and skip over this one.

Nice atmosphere and friendly service, good prices, but mediocre food. I'd rather spend the few extra dollars when going out to have superb food... This was just run of the mill American fare. Also, boyfriend claims the salad was overdressed and had too much cheese, with a bun that was soggy. We aren't going back.

Amazing food and great prices! Portions are big enough for two meals and quality/preparation of food was very good. Our server was well trained and did an excellent job. Amazing drink prices as well. Wish there was one closer. Very good for a chain type restaurant :)

We have eaten at a few different Cheddars across the states. Think the Cheddars in York offers the same reasonably priced and tasty food. The difference between this estrablishment and the others we have eaten at is the attitude of the receptionist and wait staff. The receptionist was less than polite and appeared "put-out" and the wait staff was slow in coming to the table adn it was only after 10 mintues (yes 10) that they came by.

We decided to go during what we thought would be off-peak hours. Boy, were we wrong; everyone in town seemed to have had the same idea about trying this new restaurant. Got there at 2:30 on a Sunday afternoon and waited 30 minutes for a table. Thankfully, there is a huge parking lot that surrounds the building, so you can take your coaster pager to the car with you instead of sitting in a mobbed waiting area. The hostess was honest about the wait time, which I do appreciate. The wait didn't end there though. Our waitress took quite awhile before taking our order. She was pleasant but relatively unaware of any details we asked about the food. Understandably, this comes with the territory of a new restaurant opening. We placed our order and she brought us our drinks. One glass of ice water had something icky on the outside of it and one of the forks had a morsel of food stuck to it. We asked her to replace them and she happily obliged. The Monte Cristo came out looking perfect and had a large amount of french fries. The person in our party that ordered it said it was a great sandwich. The chicken and waffles is a bit different from what we are used to seeing in PA. It was a Belgian waffle with large battered chicken strips stacked on top. We asked for chicken gravy to pour on top and the waitress brought white sawmill gravy which is apparently the only gravy they serve. The chicken strips themselves were delicious but the preparation was still odd. They serve this with maple syrup. Shepherd's Pie was the other main menu item that we ordered. It didn't look great but it tasted good; the right mix of savoriness. Personally, I think they need to plate it differently because it actually looks unappetizing, and that could be potentially off-putting to people seeing it walk past them. All in all, I'd say that this place is sort of like a fancy Denny's. It costs a little more and the atmosphere is nicer. There is ample seating. The staff are friendly. Will give it another try in a month.

We stopped here for dinner during the week. I'm pretty sure all of York County was here as well. That's what typically happens around here every time a place opens up so we are used to it. The wait was 35 minutes for a table, to be expected. We waited at the bar and watched how they were handling the business. I will have to say that the people behind the bar were really hustling and doing a really good job. That was nice to see considering our last trip to a newly opened place. Once we were seated the server was there quickly to take our drink order but didn't actually bring the drinks until almost 15 minutes later, I'll cut her a break on that because I think she had too many tables and it was super busy. They ran out of the shrimp and ribs that I ordered so I got a rib eye instead cooked medium. I order medium because that is honestly the hardest way to cook properly to a true medium. It was over cooked which was a disappointment. It did have good flavor and the rest of the meal was alright. Not really that impressed with yet another chain restaurant in the York area. To be honest I'm really getting tired of these places because they are all pretty much the same.

We come here often. Food is good and consistent. Front of the house is bad. Turnover is high. No matter how crowded, if there is a shift change, there will be 10-15 empty tables and 50-60 people waiting to be seated. Its been the same for over a year.

Ok, here is the skinny...wife and I went there for the first time Saturday night. Got there about 730 and waited about 20 minutes. Not too bad considering this place is always busy. Atmosphere: nice. Clean, Busy, sound travels. No complaints here. Server: very nice and did a great job. Food: hit and miss. The chips and queso appetizer was delicious. I would order it again. Wife got the Napa Chicken Ciabatta. She said it was good but nothing to write home about. Now BEWARE I got the Braised Beef Roast and I will never order it again. First, for a place that claims they make a lot from scratch, I was disappointed that my mashed potatoes was INSTANT mashed potatoes. Second, the amount of braised beef was a huge disappointment. I was finished with the beef in about 3 bites....no joking. Lastly, there was barely any brown gravy. So if your idea of pot roast is 95% instant mashed potatoes, 5% beef, and minimal gravy, then this is the entree for you. For my side, I got the broccoli casserole. It was delicious. I would order it again. My wife got the loaded baked potato. She enjoyed it. Price: you can't beat it. Food is very cheap. Most entrees are under $10 except for steak which is around $13. Appetizers are $4-$8 as well. Conclusion: you get what you pay for. I would go again and try a different entree. I hope you found this helpful.

I was visiting the area with friends, and we thought we'd try Cheddars; the food is pretty standard chain restaurant fare, burgers, tenders, some salads, etc. The food wasn't bad; again, like most chains, it was a bit too salty for my taste. But that could be just personal preference? Anyhow; even though we got there at the height of a very busy lunch hour, we were seated promptly and our food arrived fairly quickly. Service was efficient, friendly, and helpful, without being intrusive.

The place def went downhill since they first opened up. Very loud with echo so the load music is really not required. The chicken strips USED to be my favorite but that went away last night to. Beer took forever. Not getting it you go and pour some in a glass it doesn't need to be an assembly line for beer. Food order was wrong so while my buddy was eating I was sitting there looking at him waiting for my meal and when I was eating he waited on me. Will be back again but not for a while. It's more like a McDonald's now. You go there once a year and when you do you than remember oh yea, his is why I come here only once a year. Hope it changes because it is a nice place plus I rally don't like waiting for 20-30 minutes and than walk in to see an entire section closed. If you need to keep people waiting to show the world you have a wait at least when you seat folks don't walk them to their table right by the closed section with 13 empty tables after they waited. Not a fan of that trick. So far the place is going down hill. Like I said it's not the worse and I will be back but not on my to do list for now. It'll be a while.

We arrived at 5 pm to a full parking lot, thinking we were going to have wait 30 to 45 minutes at least for a table I said to my wife, lets go somewhere else. She said no, you never know they might get us in fast. We entered the restaurant and was told the wait would be 5 minutes. My wife and son went to the restroom and no sooner than they left our table was ready (2.5 minute wait). Once the hostess took me to our table the server greeted the table within 15 seconds (thus hitting my rule of thumb for servers, 30 second table greets). Alissa E. promptly took my drink order and three drink order for my son. While she was filling the drinks my wife and son arrived from the restroom. Alissa arrived with mine and my son's sodas which I promptly canceled my coke and ordered a mango tea. Alissa seemed very knowledgeable about the menu and very patient with us (I'm picky and my son will talk the ear off a server). At this point we ordered our appetizers (Texas fries and Edamame), as well as my son's kids meal (Penne pasta with marinara, which we subbed out the marinara for alfredo). After searching through their nicely designed menu (not too busy with wasted flowery descriptions of each item) we finally decided on a Club sandwich for myself and a chicken tender dinner for my wife (we choose smaller meals due to the large amount of appetizers we were purchasing). About 3 or 4 minutes after Alissa left with our dinner orders our Texas fries arrived fallowed by the Edamame and that fallowed by my son's pasta (delivered by 3 different servers, telling me the restaurant cares about food quality, not letting my food die in the window). The Texas fries are a nice medium thickness fry, skin on, covered in a blend of cheddar and jack cheeses, topped with real bacon pieces and served with ranch. To me what truly makes this appetizer delectable is the bacon pieces; not too fatty, not burnt or under cooked, just quality cured bacon pieces. The Edamame on the other hand is the reason for the 4 out of 5 stars. We tried to see if we could just get a sample of it and was told it is preportioned and they are not able to separate it; but if we would like to order it to try it and we didn't like it they would take it off the bill. When the Edamame was served it was a very nice presentation, the pods in the center, gingered soy sauce to the right and the spices (which to me seem to be kosher salt, crushed red pepper, garlic and black pepper) were to the left of the pods. I then asked Alissa how the proper way to eat the Edamame, she said to dip the pod in the sauce, then to dip the sauced pod in the spices and then take the sauced and spiced pod, place it between your teeth and pull the pod out, scraping the spices off the outside and pulling the beans out into your mouth and dispose of the empty pod. The beans were ok, having a somewhat peanut taste when eaten by themselves, however once you dipped the beans in the spices all you tasted was salt and then your mouth was on fire from the crushed red pepper. Needless to say we did not like the Edamame. We informed Alissa that we did not like the Edamame and she stated it would be taken off the bill and asked if we would like to order something else instead. We said we had seen the onion rings being served and they looked wonderful and we would like to place an order for those. She stated that they would take about 5 minutes and would probably come out at the same time as our dinners, we told her that would be fine. At this time I used the restroom, and I have to admit there was a few pieces of paper on the floor, which was to be expected for as busy as the restaurant was, but all in all a very clean, well stocked, well lit and most important for me dry restroom. The restroom itself was laid out very nicely with no direct lines of sight going directly to the door from the urinal or stall areas, the bold color scheme of blacks, reds and oranges with overtones of natural stone and wood was carried out here as well with the granite counter tops and the dark stained wood doors on the stalls. One of the things I liked was the trash can directly beside the door so that when I leave the restroom, after I wash my hands I could use a paper towel to open the door to leave thus dropping the soiled paper towel in the trash and not on the floor (which I will do if the restaurant is dumb enough not to put a trash can there, not everyone washes their hands and then opens the door, do I really need to paint a picture of the disgusting nature of some people in this world?!). When I returned to the table I was pleasantly surprised that the rest of our order had arrived. My delicious club sandwich made with perfectly cooked bacon (can you tell I'm a bacon lover?!), nicely cured ham and turkey, fresh leaf lettuce, a surprisingly tasty ripened tomato slice and I (I guess I can't write more than one review on the same restaurant :-( well needless I recommend Cheddars whole heartily!!)

We've eaten here many times and will be back. It's becoming one of our favorites. Chicken fingers are very good. Most of the food is reasonably priced and portions are large. The place is a little noisy for my liking, but that's a minor point. Wait staff is very attentive.

After waiting approximately 25 mins. for lunch, we were seated and ordered an appetizer (Nachos) as well as our meals. When we observed several tables who had been seated after we had receive their appetizers, we asked the server about it, who stated that she had just checked and she wasn't sure why the kitchen was taking so long. She then returned a moment later with the nachos. Our meals came out about seven to ten minutes later, but I had ordered the Chicken Caesar Pasta Salad, and was brought a Vegetable Alfredo. I am confident that I placed the order correctly, because I had not seen an Alfredo on the menu. The food runner apologized and explained that the order had been entered incorrectly and she would correct it. The server came by a few minutes later and said she had entered the order incorrectly and would follow up. My salad did not arrive until my husband and son had both finished their meal. I asked that the salad be boxed so I could eat it later. The server brought out a box and we then asked for our check. She brought the check and not only had there been no compensation for missing a meal with my family, but she charged us for the Alfredo, which cost a dollar more. Only after she noticed me looking at a menu did she approach to say that she'd meant to double check the price. She explained that she had to have a manager void the error. She did not return again for at least ten minutes, at which time she stated that it had taken her that long to locate a manager. She then took the bill back to ring up the credit card. Upon returning, she stated that she apologized for entering the order incorrectly, but that she had trouble finding a manager and it wasn't her fault it took so long. At that time I stated that if she was sorry, she should have brought a manager to the table. She stated that there were only two managers on duty and she had trouble locating them (but she had previously stated that the manager had to adjust the check). I don't know if she ever actually explained the situation to the manager, but she was quick to blame the manager and the kitchen for the difficulty. She stated, "I will apologize for my part-I put it in wrong." She declined to take responsibility for how long the salad took to come out or for the lack of a manager. I don't know if the manager was aware, but if he (Mr. Heinrichs is the GM according to our check) was, he might benefit from being more aware of how customers are treated by staff. I will say that I observed ample staff moving quickly at other tables, and the food was reasonably good for the price. However, in my opinion, a server is the representative of the entire business, and does not do anyone any good by shirking responsibility.

This place just opened up so the wait times are ridiculously long. I went with a group of 6 people on St. Patty's day. We went early (~3pm) because we knew there would be a wait. Took 50 minutes to get inside and once inside it took 25 minutes before we got our first drink order. 35 minutes of sitting before we got our food order taken. We watched three other groups of customers that were seated around the same time as us just get up and leave before their drinks arrived because they couldn't wait any longer. The food was not that great. They couldn't time the food to come out at the same time for our whole group and half our table received food that was room temperature or just plain cold because it was sitting for too long. Like I said this place is new so maybe the staff just hasn't figured out the correct workflow to make this place work smoothly - but my first visit was not good and I don't plan on going back until the initial excitement of a new restaurant has worn off. Maybe another 6 months or so... The staff seemed stressed and lost as everyone was quickly walking back and forth from tables to the bar and kitchen putting out "fires" and our waitress easily came by to apologize to us for the wait times at least 5 or 6 times in the 3 1/2 hours we were there. Yup - We left at 6:30pm after arriving at 3pm. The floor manager guy was walking around and he looked pretty stressed out. He did not come and say anything to our table but it was obvious he was dealing with a lot of unhappy customers and servers and didn't seem like he wanted to initiate eye contact with customers. He had probably handed out his daily quota of free food and services to disgruntled patrons. It didn't seem like they were short handed as we easily saw 20-25 different servers walking around while we were there. The problem was obviously workflow. This place just seemed too disorganized. Maybe some additional training for the staff and Manager's... The prices are great for a place like this and I would have liked to taste hot food. If you're asked to wait longer than 30 minutes to go in - Just go elsewhere and come back some other day when there are less people.

Cheddars is not to be confused with a cheese based theme. Actually, this is a nicely priced restaurant with better than average food. Being a privately owned restaurant, it is a step above chain food themes. I will definetly be back!

They have a good place, for fast casual, but the meals could be kicked up a notch. Sometimes it arrived too hot, sometimes, lukewarm. Good location to meet with people on Rt. 30 and the Interstate. A nice alternative to the more preferable Round the Clock diner across the street.

This restaurant doesn't just have a great location along highway 30, it also had amazing food and service! The atmosphere is homey with it's amazing decor and friendly staff. Thanks to our wonderful waitress, Caroline, to taking care of my hungry group!

Cheddars is not to be confused with a cheese based theme. Actually, this is a nicely priced restaurant with better than average food. Being a privately owned restaurant, it is a step above chain food themes. I will definetly be back!

They have a good place, for fast casual, but the meals could be kicked up a notch. Sometimes it arrived too hot, sometimes, lukewarm. Good location to meet with people on Rt. 30 and the Interstate. A nice alternative to the more preferable Round the Clock diner across the street.
