I don't understand why people say they like Rita's - they must have never had Yardley Ice House! Once you have Yardley's you can never go back to Rita's!!

Love this place, its a locally owned treat and we can't wait for it to open up each Spring so we can enjoy their delicious water ice... flavors like mint chocolate chip or the cherry bordeaux like so many others have mentioned! Don't go to the chains when you can have far superior waterice here! Bring your cash cause they don't accept credit cards.

Greg P.
Cherry Bordeaux and twist ice cream is gelati fantastic! Their regular water ice is great too!

Best water ice around...rita's...pffft...don't even try to compare the Yardley ice house is in a league of their own

This place has the best water ice and gellati I've had in the USA. Actually, now that I think of it, it's the best I've ever had! The fresh, home-made flavors come through wonderfully. Like banana cream pie - full of chunky goodness - so yummy! Truly, the Ice House is worth traveling to when you're in the mood for a really special treat. It's already the most popular desert place in the area, but I'm surprised at how few people know about it. If it were in any big city, they'd have hundreds of reviews and lines out the door. But it's our little suburban secret... If you're ever in the area, like in New Hope for a day trip, make the trek down to Yardley for desert. You won't regret it.

The Ice House has, hands down, the best water ice I've ever had. We've been going here for years and it's consistently fresh and delicious. Rita's doesn't hold a candle to this place. The fruit flavors have chunks of fruit and the ice itself isn't overly sweet. My all time favorite is cappuccino - creamy, chocolatey and to die for. Huge variety of flavors. I'd recommend this place to anyone who's in the mood for something sweet.
(5)
Chantz K.
I have been coming here since we moved to the area. It has always been a good p place to stop for a quick dessert, and me and my family all love it. I suggest getting the rootbeer water ice with vanilla soft serve. One of my favorite desert places in the area.
(5)
Florence D.
why doesn't the west coast have water ice???
(5)
Jeff H.
The Ice House rules. It's our summer go-to spot....like the good old days. Pull up on a bench and have some soft serve drip onto your shorts. So much better then all of the overly complicated alternatives like Coldstone or the Zebra Striped Whale.
(5)
Drew W.
They have really good water ice. I am a fan of the cream ices and they always have something that satisfies my cravings. Interesting flavors and reasonable prices are just a couple of reasons you have to check it out. It also doesn't hurt that it was Best of Philly, but if you are not from the area, it may be a little hard to find, but once you have the water ice, you'll get why they can have a terrible location and make it like they have.

Hands down, best. water ice. ever. I lived in Yardley for one year after college. For that entire spring and summer, I frequented the Yardley ice house almost daily. Their version of cherry water ice, cherry Bordeaux, is nothing like the bright red gloop served at Rita's. The hue is a deep burgundy, and it is chock full of chunks of bing cherries. Now that I no longer live in Yardley, I still try to get to the ice house at least a few times a season. Wish they would expand (nudge nudge, wink wink)!!
(5)
Kimberly P.
Got the cherry water ice, which had real chunks of cherries in it. Yum! If you aren't in the mood for water ice, the custard is excellent too. They also serve other ice cream treats like blend-ins, ice cream with toppings, etc. The staff is super friendly. You can't go wrong.
(5)
John W.
We go here often...perhaps too often. Great great water ice. They also have the best fat free sugar free soft serve around. One thing that they need to add though...well two things.. 1. High tables outside in the parking lot so you have something to lean on when eating your ice cream or water ice. 2. Use of Facebook or Twitter to blast suscribers with the special flavor of the day.. Other than that..the place rulez.
(5)
Karen G.
Forget Rita's this place has the best water ice around. Flavors vary from the usual to the unique. Cookies and cream, chocolate chip, creamsicle, cherry bordeaux or just plain mango, it's all there with flavors changing on a rotating basis. Not into water ice? No problem, they carry a yummy soft serve as well and offer sundaes and blend-ins. They even have frozen chocolate covered bananas! The store itself is small and tends to get crowded easily especially after Little League games. There's no inside seating but there's a few benches outside for customers to relax and enjoy their treats in nice weather. Give it a try, you'll give up on Rita's.

Amazing! We heard about the Yardley Ice House in Philadelphia Magazine and decided to give it a go. Worth the trip! The Cherry Bordeaux water ice is amazing. Big chunks of cherries. I recommend it with the vanilla custard in a gelati. Fabulous!!
(5)
MJ H.
This was the 1st time we had "Water Ice" and it was awesome! It definitely hit the spot on a 95+ degree day. It's not ice cream like us New Englanders are used to which is why it was such a treat! The people working the place were really nice and very patient since we tasted several flavors before ordering. If you are in the area and looking for something cold, definitely stop by.
(5)
K E.
Fun community place with tasty water ices. Tons of flavors and enthusiastic staff (and customers).
(5)
Sonia S.
Kind of hard to find... but so worth it. It is water ice that is more like cream ice (when you eat it, you will understand what I am talking about). My favorite is the mint chocolate chip. I will never go to Rita's again. This was the first place where I refuse to chare my water ice. My husband wanted some, but I said "get your own!"
(5)
Shakalohana A.
This place really is the bomb for water ice. I like that their servings are just right for the price, and the flavors are intense. I had the key lime and was blown away by little bitter bits of lime rind punctuating the perfectly balanced sweet and sour concentrated, fresh and natural flavor - it was really delicious!
(5)
John C.
Love their flavors! They are the best. Really nice folks too.
(5)
Jennifer M.
Forget Ritas. Yardley Ice House beats em hands down. Their cherry water ice is by far the best and their other flavors are awesome too. Just wish they were open all year round.
(5)
K J.
Best water ice I've ever had! Recommend banana cream pie and key lime pie flavors!!
(5)
Brian R.
The YIH is hands down the best place you could buy water ice from. Flavors change often and continue to surprise me with creativity and originality. I think the real differentiator from other ice houses is that YIH puts big chunks of ingredients into each cup. Expect pieces of fruit, hunks of cookie, or whatever it might be. My favorite flavor that I would recommend is the cherry bordeaux. It's simply amazing.
(5)
Jeffrey L.
The best water ice around! Great for the end of a summer night. They usually have 10-15 different flavors available that you can mix or add some frozen custard to.
(5)
Christine S.
Awesome water ice, many flavors, good prices. I wish I could have it every day.
(4)
Samantha M.
I am not a fan of ice desserts, so this place is just ok, but it's all homemade!
(2)

great water ice, great custard. On a hot summers day, it's a nice treat. For this sort of thing, your local choices are Rita's (good), Yardley Ice House (better). That's really all you need to know.
(5)
Melanie P.
This place makes such delicious water ice. Cherry Bordeaux is fantastic, with chunks of sweet black cherries. I got a gelati with half Cherry Bordeaux and half Peach cobbler with vanilla custard. The Peach Cobbler is a cream ice with great fresh peach flavor and pieces of shortbread crust. My husband got a gelati with the Cherry Bordeaux and mango--also very tasty! I wish we had a place like this where we live in Wisconsin. It's great to come here when we're in town to visit family!

This place is the bomb diggity of the sweets world. Best water ice ever. Goes above and beyond Rita's, that's for sure. Tons of flavors of Italian ice-everything from peanutbutter cup, banana cream pie, cherry Bordeaux, pineapple and cappuccino. The sizes are large and affordable!
So apparently don't get ice cream at the ice house, because you will be highly disappointed. I had super high expectations for this place merely based on the fact that they had almost a perfect yelp star rating. Then we got here and the line was down the block and that made me even MORE excited! After about 15 minutes of waiting in line, and seeing various people leave with good looking cones, I decided on ice cream instead of Italian ice. I ordered a simple vanilla hot fudge sundae with peanuts. Let's just say the peanuts were the best part....the fudge wasn't thick and chocolatey, but instead cheap tasting and the ice cream was so bland that it reminded me of a more solid version of Cool Whip. My beau got a vanilla cone dipped in chocolate was equally disappointed, and this man never says no to ice cream. If I return I will be sure to stick to the local's favorite of ONLY water ice....definitely go to McDonald's for a cheaper and more delicious sundae.

I don't even like water ice but..... not fair to call this confection water ice - it's dreamy smooth and amazing flavors - best i ever had - try the banana cream pie or the dark burgundy cherry with real large cherries in it - or mint chocolate chip.... forget the ordinary cherry or lemon - go to traditional water ice stores for that. this is best water ice i ever had and imho the only water ice that is worth eating -t hey have about 20 plus flavors. it is set back from the street in rear parking lot behind "Millie's Luv In" diner - drive around the back.

I gotta be honest, with all the five star reviews I was expecting something that would blow my mind. My mind was not blown; however my taste buds were pleased. I had a banana cream pie water ice (cream ice?) and it was decent. It was very airy and light, nowhere near as dense as an Italian ice or even a typical water ice. This was a bit unusual for texture and took me by surprise, but it wasn't bad. The flavor was spot on. My boyfriend got a cherry Bordeaux and I snagged a taste, and it was very rich in flavor. I should point out the consistency of it was much more similar to other water ices (similar to what you'd find at Rita's). The price and portions were right, and I can see why locals love it. That being said, I don't know if I'd go out of my way to go here again, but when in the area this is a great place to stop by.

Awesome water ice! Banana cream pie is a must have here. Never had good banana water ice until I came here. It tastes like a light banana pudding- so delicious! Mango is good too- tastes like ritas mango.
(5)
Kishore C.
Very friendly owner of this small ice cream shop, but there's a lot of high school kids / middle schoolers who use this place as a hangout and if you get caught behind one of these groups it'll be a 15min wait for your ice cream. It's not particularly busy, but just subject to surges in traffic.

It's a small little place hidden behind stores in yardley borough it's sort of the kind of place that if you don't know it's there then you passed right by it. But the water ice there is amazing they have a bunch different flavors. My favorite is orange Creamsicle. Always nice people working there and even though there's almost always a small line they get the people in and out very quickly

Pretty good!! I had a mango water ice with chocolate frozen yogurt. The water ice was amazing the chocolate frozen yogurt; not so great. My fiancée had the banana cream pie water ice, pretty good. It was better when we added the chocolate frozen yogurt. Highly recommended! We also orders the peanut butter cup water ice and sugar free cherry to go. The peanut butter cup was just ok.... I wouldn't go back to get that one. The sugar free Cherry was in the deep freeze, and was hard as a rock when we got it. We haven't been able to try it yet because of how frozen it is. I was impressed that they offered so many sugar free water ice flavors!
